Summary: Y/N had stuck with Sang-Woo through the good and the bad, but when that very man that they swore to love forever was faced with a choice of life and death, did he choose the right one? (inspired by "traitor" by Olivia Rodrigo)

A/N: low key hate how this turned out but here it is anyway <3

Y/N and Sang-Woo had met long before the games had started, back when he had just started out on a then promising career in business. Back then he was still a struggling to rise up in the ranks, and had to stay with his mother.

As for Y/N, well Y/N was a hopeful young soul who's smile lit up a room. They had been visiting his mother's shop, doing their weekly errands and had run into the man. A small smile and a formal greeting was all that was exchanged, yet something in him had been sparked.

And over time, they grew to become close friends which blossomed into something much more wonderful.

The only problem was that Sang-Woo much too ambitious. When he had a goal he was hellbent on achieving it no matter the cost. Which caused him to gather a rather large amount of debt.

By that time the two were in a steady relationship. He knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Y/N, but would he even be able to give them a life?

He tried hiding it, he did. The man was always good at hiding emotions. But Y/N wasn't dumb, and he knew that they would find out eventually.

So when that unavoidable day came he braced himself for the screaming, the yelling of how he betrayed them. But it never came. Rather they hugged him, and his broken down form, promising that they would find a way to get out of this together. They told him that Sang-Woo could never betray them. And when asked why they hadn't got angry they laughed and replied "I love you too much to ever get mad at you."

During the games, they stood by him in everything. From his decisions to his strategies. "Numbers 218 and 219 against the world" they would joke. Y/N was the beacon of hope that kept Sang-Woo going. The light in the dark world that they had been thrown in.

So when they were pit against each other in a game of marbles, he made the worst decision he'd ever made.

"Sang-Woo?" Turning his head towards Y/N, his brown eyes met theirs.

Tears streamed down their face, rocks in hand. But they just smiled, like that day so many years ago when they had met.

He wanted to scream, he wanted to run back to them. He wanted to apologize and say that it was a stupid decision he had just made minutes ago. But the guard just shoved him to keep walking. So he did.

And with a choked out sob, Y/N said one final thing "I love you Sang-Woo"
