I’m not exactly sure where this realization came from but like

I listened to the first audio of Fred and Bright eyes a couple months back via a Google drive, and I genuinely don’t get why people hated Bright Eyes so much?? Like

Okay, they were walking around an abandoned amusement park at night and were nosy despite Fred telling them not to, but if we’re going by that logic Lovely and Darlin’ / Tank would also be bad people, right?

Darlin’ for lying to David and going out on their own to hunt Quinn down, And Lovely for doing the exact same thing Bright Eyes did, Walking around an abandoned amusement park at night! And yes, you could argue that if Fred & Bright weren’t there in the first place they wouldn’t have been attacked, but from my understanding if they were able to be turned via Sam, they were previously human and had no knowledge of supernatural creatures such as vampires existing due to co-vert and such!

Justice for fred and bright eyes, so sad I didn’t get to experience them firsthand

Hi so apparently people are defending Calypso now?? Guys what happened ???

I understand that Ody was the first human contact she’d had in years, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that she still disregarded the fact that he was married!

And no, Wanting someone who’s taken isn’t wrong! It becomes a problem when you actively attempt to pursue that person despite them both having a spouse AND telling you to stop?

Not to mention their clear power dynamic, With Calypso being a Goddess / Nymph and bragging about how her island is hidden away??

‘Bow down to the Immortal Calypso!’ / ‘Last I checked, Goddesses don’t die.’ / ‘No one can come or go! My island stays unknown!’

Don’t get me wrong, it’s okay to like an antagonistic character, I’m a fan of many of those types of characters such as Jason Dean / JD from Heathers, Morro / Garmadon From ninjago, Draco Malfoy from Harry Potter, but it becomes a problem when you’re justifying their actions, Let’s use J.D. for example!

If I were to Justify J.D. blowing up Westerburg High because kids were assholes and he lost his mother, that would be wrong, because yes, While losing loved ones and being bullied with no particular good influences in life can result in you being reckless, that still didn’t give him the right to blow up an entire school????? Not to mention there were innocent people in there too?

And I even saw some people comparing Calypso to Circe?

Circe not only backed off when Ody explained that he had a wife to go home to, but helped him too! And not even just that, she wasn’t even seriously trying to seduce him?? If you were on the stream for the vengeance saga then you would know that Circe was hiding a dagger. She was trying to KILL Odysseus for the purpose of protecting her nymphs, because what would you do if some guys just came storming into your hometown after you lost almost everything because you let some strangers live last time??

Calypso on the other hand had nothing to protect, and obsessed over Ody all on her own. I understand that no one taught her how to love properly, but if you really loved someone, would you constantly push their boundaries even after being told it’s harming them? I would hope not, but maybe that’s just wishful thinking.

By the way, Epic!Calypso is not cursed, that’s PJO!Calypso!

This is moreso in response to the reply that was given to this post.

People's reasoning for disliking Bright Eyes is valid but in that same vein it is so fucking crazy cause yall will sit and kiss the asses of characters who do the same shit and worse. The motherfucker was nosy and curious and it ended badly and that somehow warrants yall to say/do shit so vile that Erik literally had to shut it the fuck down. It's disgusting and I will never not be resentful of that fact.

And if yalls reasoning truly was the disregarding of feelings then why do I see motherfuckers defending Cutie for dear life, or early Angel when they tried to pressure David into shifting, or Darlin who consistently disregarded people's concerns for their health and how it might've been affecting them? Yes the situations are different but if your problem at heart was the disregarding of feelings then a lot of our most loved characters would not be fan favs.

Another thing, what the fuck do you mean "even after the turning." Was Bright Eyes not also freshly turned and fucking horrified? I raise you this; That night in Wonderworld do you think Vincent was busy trying to make sure Stranger wasn't having a panic attack while William was turning him? Or right after?

If your answer is yes then I'm gonna need you to take a fucking class on Media Literacy and Reading Comprehension oh and COMMON FUCKING SENSE????? That is a traumatic event for any and all who experience it, we didn't expect lovely to be coddling Vincent during their turning, we didn't expect Vincent to be coddling Stranger during his either so why the FUCK are you expecting that of Bright Eyes??? Make it make sense.
