The heat was getting to be a problem.
The power had been out in National City for three days, and those three days were expected to be among the hottest of the year. Lena was, frankly, desperate.
You might think that she’d have it easy, but anyone who would think that a penthouse in a skyscraper would be easy to cool would quickly be disabused of that notion. The windows mostly didn’t open and having the balcony doors spread wide did next to nothing when the breeze felt like opening an oven, even up here.
It had been Alex’s suggestion, sent by text.
Why don’t you go to Kara’s? The loft is pretty breezy.
She was right, of course. When Lena arrived, Kara had every one of her huge loft windows open, allowing the breeze to flow freely through the open, airy space.
There was another problem, though.
When Kara opened the door, Lena nearly keeled over. Kara was wearing a sports bra and shorts so short they barely deserved the name, exposing a vast amount of golden, sun-kissed skin. Worse, her gloriously muscled stomach and shoulders glistened with sweat.
Lena was surprised to see that the heat bothered her, but it clearly did. Kara had forgone her glasses, too, and after she opened the door, she swept the back of her hand across her forehead and sighed.
“Hi,” Lena squeaked.
“Hi yourself. Hot out there?”
“It’s hot in here.”
“Come in, come in,” said Kara.
Lena stepped inside, forcing herself not to stare at Kara’s thick thighs and the swell of her chest under straining fabric. Was that zipper some advanced Kryptonian technology?
“Want something to drink?”
“Isn’t your fridge dead, too?”
“Yeah, but I cheat. Watch.”
Kara slipped a bottle of water out of a pack on her counter and breathed on it. Ice crystals formed on the surface and the water visibly chilled. It shocked Lena when she accepted it and the cold water on her lips was bliss. Lena let out a soft sigh and closed her eyes, savoring the feeling of cold spreading through her chest, cooling her body.
When she opened her eyes, Kara was the one staring. Lena had thrown on a short, a-frame sun dress that bared her back, for no other reason than making sure that her skin could have as much surface exposed to the air to evaporate and cool her down as possible.
“So what are you up to?” Lena asked.
Kara gestured to the notebook and stacks of papers on the table.
“Old-fashioned journalism, I guess. My laptop battery died yesterday.”
“I thought you’d be out there trying to fix the power.”
Kara shrugged. “With what, my super-electrician powers?”
Lena shot her a look, raising her brow.
Kara turned away, heading for the windows.
Oh, Jesus, Lena thought.
It wasn’t as if Lena hadn’t… noticed Kara’s physique. She wasn’t blind, after all. They’d taken spin class together, and Kara liked to wear leggings on the weekends.
But holy shit, those shorts made her ass look… Super.
Lena was still fumbling over a buns of steel pun in her head when Kara turned back.
“Hey, you okay? Your heart raced for a second there.”
“F-fine,” said Lena.
“Alex and the others are coming over tonight for an emergency game night,” said Kara. “I better get ready.”
For the next couple of hours, Lena helped Kara neaten up her apartment and prepare non-perishable snacks and a cooler full of beer and wine coolers, chilled care of Kara. Alex and Kelly were the first to show up, with Alex giving Lena a cheeky look as she walked into the apartment.
“Hey, you two,” she said. “Been having a hot time?”
There was something brittle in Kara’s laugh that set Lena a little on edge, and the Danvers sisters shared one of those looks they shared that made Lena wonder if they could communicate telepathically. Whatever the message was, it made Kara look away first, distracting with an offered beer that Alex gladly accepted.
Lena took a wine cooler, wishing it were wine.
Nia and Brainy showed up next, followed by J’onn, who was the only one fully dressed in a button-down shirt and khakis, while everyone else was dressed for the beach or a track meet.
Lena sat on the floor, because the hardwood was cool under her butt, and leaned back against Kara’s couch. Kara sat beside her and Lena’s heart definitely sped up.
Looking over, it was hard to tear her eyes away. Kara made a magnificent display- the blocky weight of her shoulders, full biceps and strong arms and bulky, sculpted forearms. Lena’s eyes followed the vein on the back of Kara’s arm down the back of her strong hand and the elegant lengths of her fingers.
Kara kept her nails neatly trimmed like that because of Supergirl duties, right?
Right?
“Hey Luthor? You having a heat stroke?” said Alex. “You look spaced out over there.”
Alex had a playful grin plastered on her face, though she too was sweating profusely. A cooler breeze rolled in through the big windows and everyone sighed in delight.
Except J’onn. “What shall we play first?” she said.
“Clue!” Nia chirped.
“Brainy always kicks our ass at Clue,” said Alex, “and I am not playing Monopoly with a literal billionaire again.”
“Perhaps we should play Risk,” said J’onn, rifling through the game shelf.
“We could try Twisted,” Kara suggested in a deadpan voice.
Lena swallowed hard, thinking of herself tangled up on the mat with Kara, clothes glued to their skin by sweat, salty skin sliding against salty skin, the scent of her…
“Earth to Lena,” said Alex. “Got any ideas?”
“Exploding Kittens,” said Lena. “We haven’t done that one in a while.”
“Kara, chill us some cold ones, will you?” said Nia.
Once everyone had a rapidly warming drink, Brainy dealt the cards and the game began. Alex called Kara out for peeking several times, with that loaded Danvers Sisters Look and an almost predatory smirk.
She wasn’t the only one peeking.
Lena participate in the game but her mind was elsewhere, specifically the valley of Kara’s broad back, where sweat gathered between her muscles and rain down in heavy beads, or the sweat gathering along her collarbone or sparking along the lush inner curves of her tightly contained breasts.
“Hey,” said Kara. “It’s your turn, Lena.”
Then she reached over and brushed damp lock of inky hair out of Lena’s eyes.
She could have melted. She swallowed hard, brushed the sweat from her brow, and made a hasty and wasteful play that would probably cost her any chance of winning, but she didn’t care. The game seemed at most a distant concern.
Kara’s tongue glazing along her soft pink lips was much more interesting. They’d pretty much all given up on makeup but Kara was still positively radiant, soft and inviting and homey in a way that made Lena ache in her chest.
And, uh, other places.
It was full dark now, so they finished the game and Kara and Alex got up to light a few candles.
“This is like camping,” said Nia.
“We should have thought to procure ‘marshmallows’, said Brainy. “Kara could toast them with her heat vision.”
“We hardly need more heat. I’m boiling,” said Lena.
J’onn let out a soft grunt. “It’s my turn to go on patrol. I think I’ll be the first to head out.
Everyone gave their goodbyes as he headed out the window. The others huddled closer around the table, lit by the candle sitting in the middle.
“We should tell scary stories,” said Alex. “Like around a campfire.”
“Since it was your idea, you go first,” said Kelly.
Alex leaned into it with abandon, leaning in over the table as she started spinning a campfire yarn that Lena quickly recognized as The Hook.
Kara edged closer, until her bare thigh pressed against Lena. She leaned in close, and it wouldn’t have taken much for Lena to… rest her head on Kara’s shoulder. It just kind of happened, Kara’s scent filling her nostrils as she turned into Kara.
Lena flinched as Kara shot her a concerned look.
She can hear my heartbeat.
Kara must have thought Lena was scared, because she casually slipped an arm around her.
Lena’s breath caught. Kara’s powerful arm rested lazily around her hip and her relaxed hand rested on Lena’s thigh, fingers placed lightly on bare skin.
It was a powerfully possessive gesture, not just protective but… more. Lena shifted a little and let herself completely fall against Kara.
Alex kept on telling the story, her gaze pausing heavily on the two of them as she scanned the room. Brainy looked bored but Nia looked genuinely petrified and Kelly was looking at her wife with the kind of adoring reference that was currently plastered on Lena’s face as she looked up at Kara.
Alex reached the crescendo of the story and Lena let out a little gasp, turning her face into Kara’s neck, more for the sake of it than out of fear. Kara’s hand stroked lazily up and down her back.
“Don’t worry, I won’t let anyone get you,” Kara whispered.
“You two okay over there?” said Alex.
“Fine,” said Kara.
“There are two actual couples here and you two are the ones doing the heavy petting.”
They weren’t heavy petting. Okay sure, Lena had her fingers curled around Kara’s hip and Kara’s hand was staring to pass the platonic zone when stroking her back but…
Oh.
“It’s getting late,” said Kelly. “Maybe we should head home.”
“Agreed,” said Nia. “Come on, Brainy.”
Lena and Kara didn’t get up.
The others did, piling out of the apartment. Alex went last, shooting Kara another of those damned looks, smiling like a self-satisfied cat after a big stretch.
The door closed and Kara yawned.
“Mind if I stay?” Lena said, quickly. “My place is just too hot to sleep.”
“Of course,” Kara said softly.
Lena didn’t move. They were alone now, the apartment dark except for candles that threw flickering shadows and made Kara even more ethereal. Lena could barely believe someone so gorgeous could be real.
“Lena,” Kara said quietly. “Have you ever thought about…” she trailed off.
“About what?”
“Us. What we are to each other.”
“Yes,” said Lena.
“Me too.”
“What are you thinking?” Lena asked.
“You’re my best friend. You mean more to me than basically anyone else, and the thought of you has kept me going through some really dark times.”
When Kara smiled for her, her eyes lit up, sparkling in the candlelight, like moonlight dancing on nighttime waves. She was entrancing.
“I…” Lena began. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen you as just a friend. There’s more on the table if you want it.”
“More like… kissing?”
“Yes, exactly.”
This was actually happening. It was real, not a daydream or a fantasy. Kara moved with agonizing slowness, full of a gentle, kind intensity as she leaned down and lightly brushed her lips across Lena’s.
It was like being tossed in a tub of ice water… in a good way. Lena shivered as Kara cupped her jaw and went for another kiss, more forcefully this time, more insistent. The breathed as one.
“Kara,” Lena whispered.
She couldn’t help it. Lena dragged her tongue over Kara’s skin, tasting the sweat pooled at the base of her neck. Kara let out a low moan followed by a deep basso rumble in her chest, pulsating in time with her breathing.
“Did you just lick my sweat?”
“Are you purring?!”
Kara giggled. “I can do lots of things.”
Lena looked up at her with lidded eyes. “Oh yeah? Show me what you got.”
She squeaked as Kara picked her up in a single smooth motion, and with a self-satisfied smirk, carried her towards the bed.
Later, as they lay in a tangle of perspiring limbs atop sweat-soaked sheets, the power thumped back on and the air conditioning began to blow over them, chilling Lena’s skin.
She barely noticed.

⊳ “ready for round 2?”
⊳ you groan in frustration as you push sevika off your body onto the floor next to you. she chuckles and rolls to her side, leaning up on her elbow to look down at you.
⊳ “you’re a jerk,” you grumble, clearly pissed off over how your muscular girlfriend successes every time you train together.
⊳“are you mad at me, beautiful?”
⊳ of course not. how could you be? you’re just frustrated with yourself. as one of silco’s newest guards, you have to improve on hand to hand combat in order to protect him and your fellow colleagues. you enjoy your new job—it comes with the privilege of getting to see your girlfriend every day, but the tasks do take a toll on your strength. that’s why you need to work both smarter and harder.
⊳ you pout at sevika and stand up, pulling up the waistband of your grey sweatpants and smoothing out the fabric of your black compression shirt. sevika herself wears wrist wraps and a black sports bra — and god, she just loves distracting you with peeks of her boxers when she “adjusts” her own baggy sweatpants. her toned abs are on full display and framed by her deep v-line. her short, dark hair is pulled back into a tight bun while a few wisps fall against her gorgeous, scarred face. has it been mentioned her appearance distracts you?
⊳ “let’s just go again,” you huff as you shake out your wrists and prep yourself into a defensive stance.
⊳ sevika’s movements are just as quick as before, but this time, you’re quicker. she is taller, stronger than you, but not by much. it takes a moment, but you find her fighting pattern. her jabs and punches are soon dodged by your swift motions, and by the time she processes your leg sweeping her feet out from under her, her back hits the wooden floor and a groaned curse leaves her lips.
⊳ the wind has been knocked out of her, but you know that’ll only fuel her attitude to not take things easy on you. before she can catch her breath, you pin her to the ground, straddling her hips and holding her flesh wrist down above her head. in your free hand, you lift a beautiful, black knife made with serrated steel against her neck.
⊳ “i win,” your chest heaves with exasperation. you announce your triumph as if sevika isn’t literally under your panting body, but you want her to admit it. she needs to admit it or else it didn’t happen in her mind. “i fucking won, say it.”
⊳ she seems surprised at first, your boldness catching her off guard before she zones out to admire the sight above her. sweat coats your flushed skin, baby hairs stick to your face, and you can’t help but breathe into her mouth. she loves every aspect of this perfect position — both of you feeling trapped in this moment yet more than satisfied with never wanting to leave it.
⊳ her widened eyes then narrow as she looks at the blade against her neck, then up at you — and she can’t help but chuckle softly at her own dirty thoughts. “where’d y’ find this little trinket?”
⊳ you smirk above her, that glint in your eye forming once you realize she likes this. because of course she does. you tilt your head slightly, studying her gaze as if she’s waiting for you to take things further and commit to taking the control you’ve worked so badly for. “got it jus’ for you. why?”
⊳ she looks back down at the blade, her smile widening before returning eye contact again. “’s nice… almost makes me wanna let y’ win.”
⊳ her words settle in as you watch a bottle of shimmer pump through the gears and wires of her mechanical arm. you move fast to pin one of your knees against the geared surface of her shoulder and sheathe the thin knife through her robotic wrist and into the floor without a moments’ hesitation. the magenta, vibrantly-drugged liquid bubbles and spurts out of sevika’s machinery, the gears whirring for only a moment before hissing in defeat.
⊳ it doesn’t hurt her, she can’t feel a thing, but that doesn’t stop you from realizing the weight of the action you took. with how advanced it is, sevika’s robotic limb takes time to adjust, fix, upgrade, etc. and when training/fighting with anyone, she only uses a small dose of shimmer as a last resort. but now that the arm is useless and her body is pinned under you, your girlfriend is now completely at your mercy.
⊳ although the thought doesn’t settle as nicely as it usually would. especially when her eyes briefly look over the mechanics in the prosthetic, seeing slight steam rise from the misplaced gears in her wrist. oops. you remove your hand from the knife yet the blade keeps her pinned to the floor, unless she were to remove the prosthetic altogether. her eyes return up to you, playful yet there’s a slightly warning, piercing glare. a further intention.
⊳ naturally, guilt first washes over you for the amount of repairs your girlfriend will have to make. but she isn’t mad, you know that. she doesn’t need to say a word. however, she now looks forward to using this as an opportunity to make show of punishing you. you know that as well, and lift your hands in surrender.
⊳“i’ll fix it…”

sorry this is kinda rushed^^ note for pt 2!!
manifesting happy ending for sevika in s2 🙏🙏✨✨✨ requests are open my lovelies and if you’ve sent one, i haven’t forgotten about you!! i have lots of works in the drafts rn and hoping to get them all out asap <3

Hey I have a situation I’m wandering if you can help me with. I’m on this long flight from New York to London and there’s this trust fund business bro on the same row as me. He’s acting all smug and is taking up space and being so rude and loud. He’s also being so mean to the flight staff acting like he’s so above them. Any way you can humble him a bit on this flight and make it a bit nicer for the staff and the rest of us passengers?
I'm a bit out of practice. But I'm currently filling in for a friend during his vacation… So let me see… To give you all quick relief, I'll send the loudmouth straight to sleep. Then he'll finally stop playing with his cell phone and laptop… Instead of his annoying, self-important drivel, you'll just hear snoring. Sonorous snoring. And a bit of drool running out of the corner of his mouth. It drips onto his expensive tailored suit. And it starts to change. The fabric starts to shine. Stripes appear on the sleeves and legs. And the fabric gets tighter and tighter. And with the fabric, the body of the pain in the neck is squeezed. The slim body of a lad emerges from the expensive personal trainer's steel body. The smell of expensive aftershave dissipates. A mixture of sweat and cheap deodorant comes from his corner. Shit, you love that smell. A fit lad in the changing room after school sports. And after a few moments, the face of the former Wall Street wannabe also appears. An 18-year-old scally in an Adidas tracksuit with an expensive haircut. We'll fix that too. His red hair has been styled by his Turkish barber for five pounds. Now get rid of your laptop, laptop bag and Louis Vuitton weekend bag. Your dirty clothes are now in a Nike backpack. Where the laptop was, there is now a bottle of beer. And his cell phone is an old model with a scratched display that slipped out of his hand in his sleep.
Tumblr media
Now the guy isn't annoying you anymore, now he's making you horny. A little English chav who's obviously having a hot dream. His boner is building a magnificent tent in his trousers. And your cock is getting hard like steel… You reach into his crotch. He wakes up and looks at you with wide-open eyes. “Do you want to earn ten pounds, you little fag?” you ask him. He looks deep into your eyes and says, “Only if I get paid in advance.” You make your way to the airplane bathroom. This isn't the first time he's done this, and he follows you at a respectful distance. Thanks to his slim build, he has no problem kneeling on the floor of the cramped bathroom and skillfully freeing your cock. Dude, whatever he normally charges for cock-sucking, he deserves every penny! And he really does swallow every drop you cum. Changing positions is challenging. But you also do your best to return the favor on his boner.
You have no idea how he does it. But by the time the seat belt signs come on, he has earned almost 80 pounds. He asks you after landing if he can crash at your place. He doesn't feel like going to his parents' council house. Dude, today really is your lucky day.
I've set his transformation so that he has to cum 2,500 times before he realizes that he's in the body of a very talented hustler. I didn't exactly count, but the customer approaching him from behind could be that guy. Don't be surprised if he comes home a bit agitated in a minute. You don't need to tell him that he has to cum another 2,500 times before he gets back into his real body. But I'll give you my contact details in case your best hustler wants to get back into his hot body.

hi,
Could I request a scenario where karasu gets a pink lock partner in a spandex suit? 😔
You already know he’s an annoying little shit about it. He likes to tease, get the low blow and bask in the glory of it afterwards. He likes knowing he can get in the other persons head, catch them off guard. He prefers to tear someone’s skills down, but he doesn’t shy away from physical attributes. After all, game is game.
And the frumpy uniforms was like a sitting duck.
“Oi, Cinderella-“ he smirked as he walked up next to you on the field. Water bottle in hand. “Fairy god mother hasn’t shown up yet?”
You roll your eyes and catch the bottle he threw your way, trying to ignore his comments as you gulped the water down. The stupid uniforms they had you in made you sweat like crazy, the thick material didn’t help either. And most importantly, they were ugly. Plain and simple, they were ugly. Frumpy, grey and old fashioned. They looked more like prison uniforms than soccer ones.
“I guess the clock struck midnight,” he mused as he wedged himself infront of you. Steeling the ball and giving you a quick glance, the gentle shove causing you to lose balance and stumble backwards. Cinderella; always in tattered clothes and covered in dirt. You hated it. And he knew you hated it, so he did his best to rub salt on the wound. “Missing a shoe?” He would chuckle as he stole the ball. “I think the ball is a only for pretty girls,” “I guess the rats were busy,”
Karasu learned pretty quickly that you weren’t one to fuck around on the field, you had insane spatial awareness, enough to rival the top guys at blue lock. Which made you hyper aware of how close he would be whenever you two were playing a 1 on 1. You blamed yourself for thinking that he would be a decent partner, figuring ego matched him up with you because you had similar traits - but you were dead wrong. It was like ego had thrown you in your own personalized level of hell.
Karasu was taller than you, and a bit more agile. By a fraction of a second if you wanted to get technical, but he was like a rat, using every little crevice to squeeze his way inside the game. Inside your head. The first time it happened you were stunned, soccer usually wasn’t a big contact sport - there being penalties for shoving or pushing. But he towed the like between accidental touch and deliberate shove. The shoves got under your skin. . Given his height compared to you, instead of hitting your chest it would hit you straight on the collar bone. The pain would linger on for hours after, sometimes making it hard for you to move your arms or neck. But technically, it wasn’t a foul. And you hated that. Technically. You grew up playing soccer by the books - very cut and clean, orthodox even. That’s what made you good, your moves were too flawless to counter. But that was also the problem, because even the purest of glass can be broken by the tiniest of stone.
Your goal slowly began to turn from being the best striker, to now finding a way to get your lick back. And just when all hope was lost..
“Good morning, diamonds in the rough,” egos voice called out in the girls dorms through the multiple speakers. “After a needlessly long wait, you can finally ditch those rags. Please go to the locker rooms and take the bag assigned to you-“
When you entered the field after putting on the official uniform, you had already prepared for the snarky comment that would be thrown your way. Probably something along the lines of; fairy god mother finally pulled through? You placed your bottle down and sat down to tie your cleats, your eyes darting when you heard a whistle. “I guess fairy god mothers do exist,” he chuckled as he walked up to you. Bingo! “Thought she’d get rid of the evil step mother too,” you quip back as you turn your attention back to the shoes. He chuckled, liking that you had started to bite back. “More like she’s found your price charming-“ “Funny, I remember the dog turning into the coachman, not the prince.” You had never been one to engage to trash talk, but god did it feel good to get the last word in with him.
The small 1 on 1 match began, despite the fact you two were supposed to work together, it seemed like the two of you were more focused on trying to score on eachother. With the total score being 0-0 for both of you, making you near the bottom of the teams. He wanted to establish some sort of dominance while you wanted to kick his teeth in for thinking that. Both of you fighting tooth and nail for the first goal, and to prevent the other from scoring.
“So Cindy,” he smirked as he wedged himself infornt of you. He was going to do it, you had been playing next to him long enough to know his moves. The god forsaken collarbone shove. Out of all his moves, you couldn’t find a counter to this one. It was your only weak spot, and he knew it. The difference in height making it impossible for you to dodge it, if you tried to duck you would be too slow and risk injuring your head. Injury wasn’t an option for you. If you went too low it would…
In that moment time seemed to stand still. You were going about this all wrong. You were trying to play chess with a man who was playing checkers with you all along. You had to get on his level to win at this own game, get down and dirty. Maybe the nickname he gave you would make sense in a way. You saw it coming, the shove, aimed directly at your collarbone.
He got in position, his arm moving towards you. He knew that in a second he’d feel your collarbone against his arm, his hand going to cup your shoulder for a second before he pushed off you and got a 3 second frame of confusion out of you. It was like muscle memory for him. In the time it took him to blink the whole ordeal would be over, but as soon as his eyes closed he prepared himself to feel your shoulder… your soft, squishy…
Wait.
His eyes darted open and he looked at you, the smirk on your face appearing as his left. His eyes followed his hand, seeing his hand over your boob. You had moved up instead of ducking his shove, catching him off guard. As a faint blush appeared on his face from the feeling of your literal boob in his hand, you used that to your advantage. He was still reeling from the feeling when you went and shot straight into the net.
“Aw cmon-“ you laugh as you approach him. “You’re acting like you’ve never touched a tit before-“ you tease, feeling the power you had over him in the moment. “Of course I have!” He replied, after defensively. “Okay Pinocchio-“ you scoff, walking to the side to get a drink.
He soon realized what you meant by that.

Some more Sukuna x Toji because... why not?
Tumblr media
Toji grunted as he finished his last pull-up. At the same time, he heard the gym door open. He ignored it, knowing who it was, and proceeded to grab his water bottle off the floor for a drink.
“Doing a late night work-out?” asked Sukuna, his adversary from the other sports team, who somehow managed to infiltrate their private gym, yet again. It was late, almost 9:00pm, but that was no excuse for the poor security of this university.
Toji squeezed his water bottle, but refused to let his anger show. “Yeah, and I wasn’t hoping for an audience.”
Sukuna snickered. “Oh, don’t mind me. I’ll be quiet. I promise.”
Toji turned around. Sukuna was leaning against the wall with his hands buried in his pockets. He was donned in a casual white T-shirt and jeans, showing off his muscular, tattooed arms. There was a smug look on his face, like he had no intention of leaving.
Toji’s teeth gritted together. For the past month, Sukuna had been making it a habit to bother Toji whenever he could. When he wasn’t mocking him on the lacrosse field for being unable to make it past him, he was following him into their private gym to mock him for his lousy work-out routines. Toji didn’t understand what his weird obsession was with him, but he was nearing his wit’s end at this point.
“Your form is a bit off though,” Sukuna said, lifting himself off the wall to stride over to him. “Shall I give you a suggestion?”
“I’m fine, thanks.” Toji turned away, trying to forget Sukuna was here.
Sukuna hummed. “Really? I think you’d benefit from a few helpful tips.”
“I’m good, thanks.” His tone was sharp. He wanted Sukuna to leave, but he knew he wouldn’t.
He turned and stiffened when he realized how close Sukuna was, practically standing in front of him. Toji quickly steeled himself so the other wouldn’t notice his discomposure.
“You’d be a lot better player if you weren’t so stubborn,” Sukuna said, voice low like a purr.
“You’d have a lot more friends if you weren’t such an asshole.” The reply sounded childish, but Toji was feeling himself growing anxious with Sukuna’s proximity. The man stood a few inches taller than Toji, but that wasn’t the part that made him nervous; it was Sukuna himself, with his dark eyes and smooth, low voice. There was something about him that made you flutter with anticipation, Toji himself included, as much as he hated to admit it.
Sukuna took a step closer to Toji, who reactively took a step back. Sukuna didn’t say anything — he merely stared down at Toji with an unreadable expression. Toji was getting irritated.
“What’s your problem, man?” Toji demanded, the frustration from these past few months coming out all at once.
To his chagrin, Sukuna merely shrugged. “I don’t have a problem. Do you?”
“Yes. You.”
“Oh?” Sukuna leaned towards him, causing Toji to flinch back. “Tell me.”
Toji’s fists clenched.
Sukuna noticed. “If you want to hit me, go for it.” He grinned. “If you can, that is.”
Oh, Toji wanted to. He truly did. But he knew what the result would be: Sukuna grabbing his arm and twisting it around till he had him pinned down to the ground. He’d proved many times over, not only in lacrosse but also in wrestling last season, that he was the superior one physically.
And Toji hated him for it.
Sukuna’s grin spread across his cheeks. “Go on. Try it.”
Toji released the tension from his jaw and breathed out. He wasn’t doing this. He reached down to grab his gym bag off the floor, slinging it over his shoulder.
Sukuna made a pouty face. “That’s a shame. I was hoping for a bit of excitement tonight.”
“Go to the arcade then.” Toji tried to walk past him, but Sukuna grabbed his elbow. Toji tried to wrestle himself free. “Hey- !”
“Where do you think you’re going?” Sukuna said, grip strong on Toji’s arm.
Toji snarled as he attempted to yank himself free again, but to no avail. He sighed, allowing Sukuna to pull him closer till their chests were inches apart.
There was a glint of curiosity in Sukuna’s eyes as he stared down at Toji. Toji knew that look — all men knew that look. But for some reason, he wasn’t surprised by it. Perhaps they both suspected for a while now the sexual tension between them, but refuse to admit it.
“If you want to kiss me, then just do it,” Toji said, trying to make himself sound more irritated than he actually was. It was merely a mask for how he was truly feeling.
In truth, his belly was rolling with excitement, something he only felt when he was about to kiss an attractive woman. But this… this almost felt… different. More intense, more thrilling, like kissing your enemy for the first time. There was desire mixed with frustration. A passion that was desperate to free itself.
Sukuna grinned wolfishly before taking Toji’s chin and tilting it up to meet his lips. At first, it was gentle. Sukuna’s lips were plump and not as soft as a woman’s, but nonetheless intoxicating. Toji had seen Sukuna flirt with cheerleaders in-between games, saw how he toyed with them and made them giddy with his suggestive looks and sultry tilt of his mouth. He also saw how he kissed them, slow and open-mouthed. He definitely had practise and Toji felt it now.
Sukuna eased his mouth open to lick inside. A part of Toji wanted to pull back, to stop this before it got out of hand, but his curiosity kept him rooted to the spot. He almost didn’t want it to stop.
He felt Sukuna’s hands on his waist and there was a flicker of indignation. He felt almost like a woman. Toji seized his hand and felt Sukuna smirk against his mouth.
“No?” Sukuna asked.
Toji shifted his jaw. “Yes.” His finger tightened around Sukuna’s wrist. “But not like this. I’m a man; treat me like one.”
Sukuna sneered and dug his fingers into Toji’s side. “As you wish.”

You don’t see Jake again until the next day. Three days in and you’re up to your eyeballs in paperwork that Beau dropped into your lap this morning. You’re starting to understand why they call him Cyclone, he blows in and right back out, leaving you in perpetual chaos. Admittedly he got it for doing that on the ice and he’s actually an extremely reasonable person, you just don’t particularly appreciate getting swamped when you’re already booked full with the physicals. There’s only one way to get both done and that’s how you find yourself in your office working through your lunch break, trying to ignore the angry protests of your stomach after being on your feet all morning working through the last of the second line guys. You half expect the knock at your door, absently calling out to invite the knocker in, expecting Zam coming to investigate your absence from the unofficial girls' table in the break room. That’s why the southern drawl catches you off guard and your head whips up so fast you almost tumble out of your chair.
“Hey, Bugs.” Jake Seresin is standing in the doorway, holding a white plastic bag and a steel water bottle. “You got a second?”
You most definitely do not have a second but your patients come first so you rush to rearrange the paper chaos on your desk to clear some space, waving a hand at the chair opposite inviting him to sit. “Sure Jake, what’s up?”
He sits, his large body dwarfing the office chair and you do your best not to stare, the lack of food in your stomach must be making you mildly delirious. “I was thinking about what you said yesterday about trust, and you’re asking me to trust you. And not your title, you’re asking me to trust you the person if that makes sense?” You nod slowly. “And I was thinking that to trust you as a person, I can’t really do the blind faith thing. I can do that with a title because the title has implications, like because you’re a doctor I know you have over a decade of school and studying to back that title up. But I don’t have anything to trust you as a person because I just met you two days ago. You’ve done your research on me, you said so yourself, so I think I need to do my research.”
“Is this you asking for my Instagram…?” He laughs at that and this time you have time to appreciate how beautiful and full the sound is.
“No Bugs,” he chuckles, placing the plastic bag and water bottle on your desk. “This is me asking you to have lunch with me.”
“Oh. Oh yeah, sure.” You do your best to quiet the part of your brain that’s spiraling to figure out when you’re going to be able to finish all this paperwork. It’ll have to wait, you’re finally getting somewhere with Jake. He opens the bag pulling out a wrapped package and a plastic container.
“I didn’t know if you were more of a cheeseburger or salad person so I just got both.” You almost melt into your seat at the gesture. Before you can say anything, however, your stomach beats your mouth and growls so loudly you want to sink through your chair and die. Your cheeks flush as Jake grins. “Sounds like you’re a both girl.” He places the cheeseburger on top of the salad container and slides the stack across your desk.
“Thank you, Jake, seriously.” You stammer as you grab the cheeseburger with shaking fingers, doing everything to not rip the wrapper to shreds and devour half of it in one bite. “And for the record, I’m a cheeseburger girl.” You give him a shy smile as you bite into it, groaning.
He chuckles as he takes out three more cheeseburgers and starts on one as well. “And here I thought bunnies liked carrots.”
“Actually rabbits don’t naturally eat carrots. They’re too high in sugar.” You say around the cheeseburger in your mouth.
“Noted.”
You swallow. “So what do you want to know about me?”
“I guess let’s start broad. What made you want to do this, working with athletes? You mentioned you watch hockey in your spare time?”
“Yeah, I grew up watching the Ducks with my dad.” You smile at the memory. “Hockey is our thing, one thing we can always talk about, do together.”
“I bet he lost his mind when he found out you’re working with three former Ducks.” He says with a grin. You laugh at that.
“Are you kidding? The man lost his damn mind. He always said he’d never go to an NHL game that wasn’t an Anaheim game but he’s already got tickets for our season opener. The man worships Maverick.”
“Are the Ducks your favorite team too?”
You hesitate at that. Before it was easy to keep yourself separate from Bugs, they were two circles that didn’t overlap but there’s nothing professional about eating lunch with one of your patients in your office. You’re finally making progress with Jake and while you hate lying to him, you’re not sure now is the time to mention that you’re a super fan. “I’m pretty sure I’m contractually obligated to say my favorite team is the Dogfighters.”
“Good point.” He chuckles. So you love hockey, but there’s plenty of ways to work with it without being a physician, so why that?”
“Well I’ve always felt connected to the players on a team, so naturally it always hurt a little to see them get injured, and as a viewer, I hated that there wasn’t something I could do about that. Turns out there was something I could do. I’ve always loved taking care of people but being able to apply it to something that means so much to me is kind of like the sweetest possible deal. I like to think I have a unique perspective with hockey athletes specifically since I grew up watching and playing the sport, I feel like I know them.”
“Wait a second, you play hockey?” His eyes are glowing with excitement.
“Played, past tense. Just for a little bit as a kid, until high school. I never really had the build and body for it, so I played as long as I could before it got to a serious level and I couldn’t make the teams anymore. My dad used to coach a kids league so that’s how I started.”
“What position?”
“Goalie and that’s the only reason I managed to make teams for as long as I did. The body was less of a requirement next to flexibility and agility.”
“Like Bob?”
“Yup, just like Bob, but look at him, he made it to the NHL. It’s nice to see, I think I would have fought harder to keep playing if I’d seen a goalie like him.” You give a rueful smile. “But if I’d kept playing, I never would have found my calling for sports medicine so it worked out in a way. This way I understand what it’s like to be a player so I can level with my patients better because I understand where their coming from.” He nods, turning this new information over in his head.
“Any siblings?”
“Two older brothers.”
“Did they play hockey too?”
You nod. “My oldest brother played through college but didn’t get drafted so he went to law school for sports law and now he’s the one signing players. My other brother plays for the Predators.”
“Damn Bugs, you’ve got an NHL player in the family? No wonder you’re so chill around us.”
“Idiot boys are idiot boys no matter how much they get paid. My brother may play for the Predators now but that’s the same kid who had to get his stomach pumped at age six for eating two whole tubes of play dough on a dare.” Jake chokes on his burger as he laughs.
“Are y’all close?”
You nod. “We all work in different facets of the same sport so it keeps us pretty tight-knit.”
“So who are you gonna be rooting for when we play the Predators in November?”
You make a face. “Are you kidding? The Predators can’t play for shit.” Jake barks out a laugh at the disgusted look you throw his way.
“And the Dogfighters?”
“That remains to be seen. I still haven’t seen their star centre at the top of his game so I can’t form an opinion about them quite yet.” You give him a soft smile, hoping that it comes across like gentle encouragement instead of a cruel dig. He sighs and sits back and you’re afraid you’ve crushed the delicate bubble you’d just created. “I didn’t mean it like that, Jake, I shouldn’t have said that, I’m sorry.” You stumble over your words as you try to backtrack. Before Jake can respond, a knock sounds at your door and you call out for them to come in. Cyclone enters and you can’t help but wither a little at the sight.
“Cyclone, what can I do for you?” You give him a tight smile trying to ignore the way his eyes rove over the scene in front of him, Jake, the food, the pushed-aside paperwork.
“Bugs, I wanted to see if you’d finished up with the paperwork I dropped off this morning?” Finished? You’d be lucky if you were even halfway done. “I’m going to need those on my desk by the end of the day.”
“Sure thing, sir.” You chirp, trying to keep the panic out of your voice. You’re so completely, totally, fucked. Your afternoon is booked full with physicals, so you’ll have to stay late to finish the paperwork.
“Jake? What brings you here?”
“Just chatting, sir, getting better acquainted with the person responsible for my health for the foreseeable future.” Jake offers Cyclone a wide grin that’s pure charisma. He could charm the pants off a horse. Cyclone nods in response, turning back to you.
“Bugs, if you could come by my office when you’re done here I’d like to have a chat with you as well.” You feel your stomach sink. You know what this is about. Your mind falls back to the day of your interview and you grimace at exactly what Cyclone is insinuating.
“I’ll be right up, sir.” You miss the worried look that Jake gives you. His eyes scan the papers scattered on your desk as Cyclone leaves.
“Hey Bugs, did I interrupt your work?” He looks guilty.
“No! Well technically yes I was working on some paperwork but you’re my patient so you’re my work too, and either way, I was on my lunch break so legally speaking I wasn’t working either way. There was no way this was all getting done by the end of the day anyway.”
“But Cyclone just said-“
“It'll be done by the end of THE day, just not his day. I’ll just have to stay late to finish it up. I’ve got back-to-back physicals for the rest of the day after this. It's no big deal.”
He shakes his head, frowning. “That’s not fair, you shouldn’t have to do that. Doesn’t he know how busy you are?”
“You of all people should know life isn’t fair, Jake. We’re starting a team from the ground up, this may be the first late night, but I promise you it won’t be the last.” You start collecting your trash, already missing Jake’s company at the thought of your meeting with Cyclone. He’s deep in thought, still frowning. “Sorry to cut things short, but I do have to meet Cyclone before my next appointment.” Something pops into your mind that you’d meant to mention as Jake starts to clean up as well.
“Wait, Jake, I need to tell you something.” He looks up, and the seas in his eyes are calmer than you’ve ever seen them even as you see the question in them.
“What’s up, Bugs?”
“Bob knows.” He looks confused so you clarify. “About your leg…” you watch the walls slam back up in his eyes as he frowns, anger flooding into his face. “I didn’t tell him, I swear! He asked me about it yesterday during his physical. Apparently, he studied kinesiology in college and has been watching you and he noticed something was up.” You’re suddenly worried that you’ve made a terrible mistake in telling him but ultimately you thought it was the right decision.
“Fuck…” Jake runs an irritated hand through his hair and you watch the blonde strands stick up on his wake. “FUCK!” You jump at his raised voice and he turns to you at the movement. He must see the fear pass through your eyes because his shoulders slump and you see the same look mirrored in them. You come out from behind your desk, laying your hand on his absurdly large bicep.
“It’s okay, Jake. I know this is scary but you’ll get through this. We’ll get through this.” You add without thinking. He turns to look at you and you see the fear swirling in his eyes and it breaks your heart. “But your team deserves to know what’s going on, Jake. You owe that to them as a teammate and especially as their captain. You have to lead by example.” He nods silently.
“I know.” You’re not sure if you imagine the waver in his voice.
“I gotta go before Cyclone comes back down here looking for me, but you can take your time if you need some privacy.” You take a deep breath that doesn’t go unnoticed by Jake, straightening your shoulders before grabbing your white coat from the hook on the back of your door, giving Jake a little wave as you leave.
***
The walk up to Cyclone’s office feels like walking through wet cement, but when you get there, the door is open and he’s waiting at his desk, lips set in a grim line. You close the door behind you, taking a seat across from him when he invites you to.
“Bugs, I was hoping we wouldn’t have to have this conversation at all, let alone three days into the job.” He looks frustrated and you can’t blame him but you also know he’s misunderstanding what he saw. “When I hired you, you made me a promise.”
“I know sir, and I’ve kept it. My relationship with Jake Seresin, if you can even call it that, is strictly professional. As the captain of the team, he’s expressed interest in maintaining a good relationship with me so he wanted to meet to discuss how the physicals have been going and lunchtime is the only free time we both have, currently.” You hope the lie sounds as convincing as you need it to as you silently chastise yourself for putting your hand on Jake’s arm earlier. It was unnecessary and unprofessional. Anyone could have walked in and gotten the wrong idea. You need to stop touching him so much, but you can’t help it. He’s like a magnet, and you’re helpless to his pull.
He nods curtly but doesn’t look convinced. “And how are they going?”
“Everyone I’ve finished with is in perfect condition.” This time it’s not a lie. Technically Jake hasn’t had his physical yet.
“Good.” He sighs. “Bugs, we’re not going to have a problem here, are we? I took a chance hiring you, you know that. There are multiple accounts that contrast the story you told me. You’re outnumbered and I still chose to trust you, I hope I made the right decision.”
“You did, sir. There won’t be any problems.” At least not in this department. You can’t imagine how he’ll react when he finds out his star goalie is injured.
“I hope so because if we do, I can assure you that you’ll never work in the NHL again, let alone in the hockey world.” You swallow, hard, glad that your hands aren’t visible where they’re tightly fisted under the table to contain your anger. This shouldn’t be happening, you shouldn’t have to be dealing with this, and yet you’re sitting here being scolded like a child for something that’s not even your fault, being threatened with losing everything you’ve worked so hard for, that you’re more than qualified to do.
“Yes, sir.”
“That will be all Bugs, I expect to see that paperwork on my desk first thing tomorrow.” You do your best to leave without looking like you’re actively fleeing the scene, but as soon as his office door shuts you’re practically sprinting back to your office. With the endless pile of paper on your desk, every second counts.
***
You glance at the clock as you grab what’s finally the last piece of paper on your desk. It’s a little after eight and honestly, you’re doing a lot better than you expected. You silently thank Jake’s lunch interruption or else you’d be positively delirious from hunger at this point. Even now, you can feel the all-to-familiar gnawing that comes after a hard day’s work. You’re thankful to be sitting after standing for pretty much the whole afternoon. By the end of the week you should be done with all the physicals except Jake’s, ahead of schedule you might add. You can’t find it in you to be proud, though, as you try to focus your brain enough to read the letters swimming on the page in front of you. Letting out an exhausted groan, you lay your forehead down on the table, as a knock raps at your door.
“Sorry, I’m almost done here, it’ll be good to clean in like twenty minutes!” You call out to who you assume is the cleaning crew, anxious to finish their jobs and go home like you.
“Good to know.” A familiar voice answers as the door swings open to reveal Jake, holding a pizza box. He’s got a backward cap on his head and a gentle grin on his face as he takes a seat in his spot across from you, placing the box on the table and you can feel the heat coming off of it as your mouth starts to water. You’re sure you’re making heart eyes at it as he opens it and helps himself to a slice. “I figured you probably hadn’t had dinner since you seemed so used to skipping lunch.” You give him an embarrassed smile as you finally pull your eyes away from the pizza.
“You didn’t have to do that.” He waves you off with his free hand. “What’re you still doing here, anyway?” You turn back to the pizza, selecting a slice and barely stopping the moan from escaping your lips as you take a bite.
“You said you were staying late and I wasn’t sure how safe that was so I figured I’d hit the gym and get some extra reps. No leg stuff, don’t worry.” He says misinterpreting your wide-eyed expression.”
“You stayed here for me?”
“I mean you’re staying here for us, so yeah. Plus, I owed you after interrupting your work earlier.”
“Well, you’ll be glad to know I’m almost done.” You wave your free hand at the paper in front of you. “Last one!” He lifts his fist in a silent cheer as he chews. You wipe your greasy hands on your scrubs and turn back to the paper, and suddenly the words are legible again. You skim the text before adding some notes and signatures where necessary. You work in a comfortable silence punctuated by the sound of Jake’s chewing. Finally, you set down your pen and sit back in your chair with a sigh.
“All done?”
“All done!” You turn back to the box to see two slices left.
“Those are all yours, Bugs. You earned ‘em.” You smile shyly at him as you dig in. “So, how’d the meeting with Cyclone go?” He looks slightly concerned and you wonder why.
You shrug as you swallow. “Fine, I guess. He wanted to know how the physicals were going. At least I’m ahead on those, they should be done by Friday, except for you, that is. You have until the end of next week.”
“About that…” Jake looks at you sheepishly, scratching the back of his neck. “I think I’m ready.”
You almost fall out of your chair for the second time today. “Jake that’s great news! Thank you so much!” You pause to swallow. “Wait did you mean right now, right now, or like just generally ready?”
He chuckles nervously. “Just generally. You can fit me in whenever, I’ll be there.”
“I can do it first thing tomorrow if you’d like? Get it over and done with so you don’t have to worry about it anymore?” He nods at that.
“Yeah, that’ll work.” His eyes are fixed at some invisible point on the desk.
“Hey, Jake?” He doesn’t raise his head.
“Yeah, Bugs?”
“No matter what happens tomorrow, it’s gonna be okay. I’ll be with you every step of the way.” He nods, still not looking at you. “It’s okay to be scared, you know? You just can’t let the fear paralyze you, you have to move through it.” He lets out a shuddering breath and you wonder just how long he’s been holding it.
When he speaks again, you almost don’t recognize his voice. It’s gravelly and full of fear. “What if you can’t fix it?”
“Then I’ll do whatever I can to make you more comfortable and we’ll move from there. There’s no scenario where things don’t change, I promise. I can’t promise how much I’ll be able to do until I’ve seen your leg.” He nods again.
“Everything changes tomorrow.”
“Everything’s already changed today.” You say with a small smile. “We had an actual conversation like sane human beings, we shared two meals, and you decided to trust me with your care. The hard part’s already over.” You watch his cheeks flex as he smiles too.
“Thanks, Bunny, I mean it.” You try to ignore the way your heart beats a little faster when he calls you that.
“Thank YOU, for trusting me.” The two of you sit in comfortable silence for a few minutes before you add. “Hey, Jake? You should talk to Javy. He loves you a lot and he’s really tearing himself up over this.”
He nods. “I know. We usually tell each other everything, I haven’t been fair to him.”
You stand. “I’m gonna run this paperwork upstairs if you want to grab your stuff to head out.” You stack the piles of paper in your arms, careful not to drop them, and Jake stands, holding open the door for you. You give him a smile of thanks before heading off to Cyclone’s office to drop them off.
***
You find Jake waiting with his stuff by the door to the parking garage. “Sorry, you didn’t need to wait!”
He shakes his head with a smile. “You just don’t get it, do you? I’m walking you to your car.”
“What if I’m staying late in an attempt to get kidnapped so I can sue for the money I need for my loans?” You pout up at him.
“I’d say you’re better off trying that on a team with more money.” You laugh. The only cars left in the garage are yours and a silver Ford F-150 that you assume must be Jake’s. “I’d say nice ride, Bugs, but what happened to the front?” He squats down to examine the scratches on your front bumper. “Oh, I hit Maverick on his bike.” His head whips up to gape at you.
“You WHAT?”
“Yeah, that’s actually how we met… He drove in front of me when I was pulling into a gas station. I was freaking out and told him I was a doctor so he’d let me check him out and then he offered me a job interview.”
“Damn Bunny, you’re a hustler.” You blush.
“HE drove in front of ME.”
“Whatever you say, sweetheart.” He stands back up. “I know a guy who could take a look at those scratches if you want?”
“Oh no, don’t worry about it, they’re just scratches, it’s not worth the money, honestly.”
“I promise you, Mav can afford it. And remind me to never let you drive my truck.” You roll your eyes, unlocking your car and tossing your stuff into the passenger seat.
“Goodnight, Jake.” You say as you slide into the driver’s seat, rolling down the window so you can keep talking to him.
“Drive safe, Bugs.” He gives you a pointed look that says he means it.
You can’t help it, you stick your tongue out at him as you shift the car into reverse. Jake stays and waves you off until you can’t see him anymore. All in all, today was a success, you think as you pull out of the garage. Jake trusts you, except now you have a different problem. Can you trust yourself with Jake?
