Light's spooky month recs: Lavinraca

October 3rd

The Zampanio/Eyedol Games crew (that is, at least [edit:] Maccus and JR but I think also other people) have put together Lavinraca, a month long ARG / web experience / community ... thing. So far as I can tell right now, it's about a strange magical town and about the Harvest, a confused, procedural god coming into its seasonal existence.

It's less sprawling than ZampanioSim but shares DNA with ZampanioSim in being sprawling, unreality-heavy, arcane enough that I still don't really get what's going on, and technical (dust off your browser's dev tools.)

There's also a discord with more of a casual RP vibe plus people celebrating and organizing Halloween events and games. I'm told last year's website elements changed dramatically from week to week so I'm excited to see wherever this goes.

If you're interested in a weird fall web story-mystery to sink your teeth into, may I suggest summoning in the harvest at Lavinraca.

Light's spooky month recs: Invisible Games

October 1st

I was recently reminded of Invisible Games, a fantastic series of game-themed creepypasta that are unlike any game-themed creepypasta you may know. Dark, fantastical, eerie treats that leave more questions than answers.

The most famous is Killswitch - deserved - but everything else is also worth a read. What Happened to Agent Small is one of my favorites.
