I left a comment on the video, but I really wanted to make an infodump post about it to because I’m a spooky little autistic. The newest Ghost Files episode reminded me of one of my favorite spooky history facts that I wanted to share:
CW: Dead people in photos (nothing graphic, very peaceful, but content warning all the same)
So the photo of Joyce and Tim in the archive room, they say one of them is dead and they don’t know which, but in a lot of these “post mortem” photos, if you look closely, there’s an interesting way to tell who’s dead and who’s alive.
“In the 1800s, taking a photo of a dead body wasn’t creepy—it was comforting. In an era when photos were expensive and many people didn’t have any pictures of themselves when they were alive, post-mortem photography was a way for families to remember their deceased loved ones. This was especially true for children, whose mortality rate was much higher than it is now” (Little).
Now, back in good ol’ 1867, there was a little more to taking a photo than a button on an iPhone 13, and it could often a couple of seconds for the photo to actually be taken, in which time people would naturally sway and twitch slightly, which is why people and faces are often blurry in these old photos. It’s like when it’s dark and your phone can’t focus, and it makes you hold your phone still while it takes the shot, but no matter how hard you try, it always comes out fuzzy.
Now, I don’t know if you know this, people 9 times out of 10, dead people don’t move. So when taking these photos, they remain still for the duration of the photo process. I tried to pick some pictures that would really demonstrate this, but it’s super chilling to see just how clear dead people are in these old photos, especially when put against living counterparts.
The one above is one of the clearest examples of this I could find online, but if you’re ever in the Winchester Mystery House, they have some super cool pictures hanging up that demonstrate this concept.
So Shane, Ryan, if you ever see this—well first of all I think I’d probably scream because my favorite creators saw my post—know that you can tell more than which looks “dead inside” because, hey, don’t we all?

Hey
It’s spooky month
Have some spooky facts about
Horses✨
(Warning, I’m gonna talk about horse cannibalism and horses eating humans and other animals)
Okay, so we all know the big or small creatures called horses, right? Well, then you should know that they mainly don’t eat meat.
They in fact do. There have been reports of horses eating small animals and animal products.
The grim stories of the snowy mountains’ cannibal horses:
A few people (2 or 3) went into the mountains in Australia at Dead Horse Gap. When they came there they saw three horses ‘standing calmly’. When they looked closer they saw that the horses’ ribs were showing, they looked thin and their skin was sagging. They approached quietly and the horses did not move away. Then the people saw a 4th horse. Which was laying dead on the ground with two of the three horse nibbling on what was left of it’s organs.
There was a horse called ‘the man eater of Lucknow’. This horse went to India. After arriving in India it went on a rampage, slaying and eating several of the people living there. After the people captured the horse they forced it to fight a tiger. Now you might think ‘awe, the poor horse doesn’t stand a chance!’
He won. The horse won.
In Tibet horses were actually fed blood. This was because it was cold and there was not a lot of grass. The people fed the horses blood to make sure that they could still use the horses.
I am kind of scared of horses right now.

What a travesty for this great nation of ours. Double when you consider how often serial killers go unreported. It's important to remember the average person encounters at least one serial killer a year without knowing. Scary times we live in...

This Fossil Friday, meet the Museum’s mummified hadrosaur—one of the most complete pieces of Mesozoic dinosaur remains ever found! This fossil represents one of the greatest discoveries in the history of paleontology: a rare glimpse at the texture of dinosaur skin. Like the skin on modern birds’ feet, this duck-billed dinosaur’s skin was marked by bumps called tubercles. The tubercles are larger along the animal’s back and sides and smaller around the joints, which needed to be flexible.

I really think we don’t play into the comedy of various folk traditions of dealing with ghosts actually working on Danny Phantom ghosts/Danny
The Fentons paint their home Haint Blue and suddenly Danny has a hard time finding his way home
Danny unable to cross running water and just suddenly ejected from the GAV as they Drive over a bridge
Amity Parkers driving the box ghost away from the Nasty Burger by throwing salt packets at him
Folks hanging up bottles in a tree and Sam having to let Danny out every time he gets stuck in one because he got too close in ghost form
The juxtaposition of the doctors Fenton being like “we can shoot them!” And everyone else just getting a box of kosher salt from the grocery store and it somehow being just as effective
#danny phantom#danny fenton#I think this tea just goes into the fact I’d love to lean into the ghost angle more#that spooky aesthetic#toss some folk magic in there ya know?

Alright
Pigs are cute and all
(I’m going to be talking about some gross topics, including pig cannibalism, murder and complications with pigs)
But also kind of scary
Pigs don’t have the best eyesight and will eat anything edible. Even corpses
After pigs give birth they can sometimes push out some of their organs (of course other animals including humans). Which is called pelvic organ prolapse. This happens when the muscles and ligaments that support the pelvis stretch to much, causing the organs to drop down.
By any other animal you’d want to fixed very soon. Right?
Well by pigs you want this extra fast. That’s because the other pigs will attempt (and likely succeed) to eat the organs that are hanging out of the pig.
First time pig mothers might also attack their own young, leading to either severe wounds or death. The mother pig (sow) will probably eat the dead piglet after.
Like I said, pigs will eat anything. Including humans
There have been several deaths by pigs. I’ll tell you some:
In 2013 a 69 year old farmer was going to feed his pigs. He didn’t come back. When the family came to check on him in the pen they saw a horrible sight. The man’s dentures and some of his remains.
In 2019 a Russian woman fell into an epileptic emergency and got eaten alive
In 2015 a Romanian farmer died due to bloodloss after being attacked by his hogs
In 2014 a two year old child walked into a pig pen and was eaten
In 2013 a mob boss was still alive when he was fed to hogs by a rival family. People still whisper that they use those hogs to dispose of bodies
And there’s more
