Made a Spongebob! (10 cm/ 4 inches tall)
Making the wavy sides was trickier then I expected; after sewing the pieces together (front, back and one long retangle that connects them), the edges ended up thick and not very defined. So I shaped them by sculpting the sides with yarn thread! I also tried some embroidery for the eyes, and attached the shoes with some fancy sewing (I had no idea what I was really doing, but it worked lol)
I usually try to, with each amigurumi project, learn something new. B)
And yes, I left out his sponge holes. Maybe I'll embroider them or needle felt another time...

Decided to try my hand at crocheting SpongeBob…
Added the nose and thought ‘ah yes, I can see the vision.’
Tumblr media
Added some holes 🕳️ that just ended up looking like mold… then sat and stared at his dumb face while trying to figure out his legs.
Tumblr media
Aaand here he is. We’re gonna ignore the knots at his knees. I just wanted him to be done.
Tumblr media
Overall I don’t think he’s terrible, but I definitely feel like I could have done better. 😣

Hi my dears,
Kitting Knights in da houuuuuuuuse!! 🥳🥳🥳
April first marks the millennial anniversary for the Knights of Knit, also known as the Order of the Forgotten Yarn. Pope Piquot V founded the French Catholic military Order in 1021 to protect the knowledge of Knit and Crochet from non-Christian agents, such as the Pastafarians. The band of ladies knit their own armor and crocheted covers for their weapons. Their dense stitch was known to stop arrows in their tracks and could take a hit from a sharpened long sword. A Knitting Knight would take her vows at the age of 12 and lived her life as a warrior nun where she trained in martial arts, sword fighting, and fiber craft. It’s said that a single Knitting Knight could take on ten men. The band of ladies was truely the crown jewel of the Vatican.
However, a thousand years of operation had its lasting effects on the Order of the Forgotten Yarn. The sect of powerful warrioresses has transformed into a humble knitting group with chapters in most local dioceses. Elaborate armor and piercing weapons have given way to hats, shawls, and cute stuffed animals. Jane and I joined The Knitting Knights of Saint Mary when we had little Suzzana. They took us under their wing and showed us how to clothe our child in beautiful fabrics of every hue. While the Knights no longer fought villains in the streets and demons in the night, they helped us fight off poverty for our dear child. She too has learned the art of crochet, and she will join in the great legacy of our Order.
To commemorate this day, I’ve crocheted Susan a cup holder with our seal, shown below. It was designed for a Mason jar, though it could be adjusted for a circular mug. I used a medium weight Aran yarn and a 4.5mm crochet hook.
Body:
1. Crochet the base. I did this by chaining 13, single crocheting into the second chain from the hook, single crocheting down the chain, turning, and repeating until I had a 12x12 stitch square. Your base should match the base of your jar.
2. Crochet in rounds of 48 around the square. Go up 7 rows.
3. Switch to white. Crochet 4 rounds of 48.
4. Switch to yellow. Crochet until you reach the top of the Mason Jar.
Arms:
1. Start with yellow. Chain 12. Turn and slip stitch up three chains. Chain 3, turn, slip stitch up the the three chains. Repeat two more times, then slip stitch up the main chain.
2. Tie off and switch to white.
3. Magic circle with 8 double crochets. Slip stitch into the first stitch, forming a cone. Single stitch around. Add a couple increases if it looks wonky.
4. Too off white yarn.
5. Pull yellow arm leads through the hole of the white magic circle. Now you have a lil arm!
Nose:
1. Chain 5
2. Turn and single crochet through the back loop down the chain.
3. Tie off
Eyes.
1. Magic circle. Double crochet a ton until you have a dense circle going around.
2. Slip stitch into the first stitch and tie off.
Assemble the parts and embroider extra details. Voila!!
