SS/Kamen Rider Ramble #98: A Subzero Flame Sparked Nothing More Than Pain In My Heart - Kamen Rider Build Episode 47

That reminds me – Misora’s dad, Soichi. Where IS he??? I haven’t seen him in years

OH it’s the site of Fourze’s scene where Yuki was the Gemini Zodiart and was about to be overpowered by her evil side/where Haruto and Koyomi did something in Wizard

Gentoku’s “you’re going to be sacrifices for the greater good” was awesome and terrifying, he really does suit the crocodile motif

Utsumi saying that Gentoku is pitiful even after getting an upgrade is the richest thing I’ve ever heard because did you even earn your Evolto Driver, ya little punk – okay, whoa I did not expect you to side with Gentoku and do you really want to avenge Nanba the Jerk? I suppose conditioning can’t be fought in Utsumi’s case as opposed to Sawa

Speaking of the latter, turns out Utsumi is the one who called her. Seeing her rush to the boys with the unfinished Pandora Box with her hair completely messed up was like watching two old classmates being reunited. It’s…actually kind of sad that Sawa got everything she needed to break free of her loyalty to Nanba, while Utsumi in the end was nothing more than a pawn for everyone. Nanba, Gentoku, Evolto – a lapdog to the end. And a cyborg on top of that, I’m a little dismayed at how they used a joke of him being one as canon material since it doesn’t really impact the outcome of the story. Either way, Utsumi died and unlike Nanba’s death, which I had an enthusiastic “yes!” to, Utsumi has inspired nothing more than a simple “he’s dead, moving on, Gentoku’s filled with guilt over what he did under the Pandora Box’s influence and by his own actions, but still managed to whisk himself and Sawa away from Evolto”

The Gentoku/Sawa ship tease is surprisingly consistent in an episode that is so heartbreaking

Previously I said that the relationship between the main six has been weak. Honestly, there are some moments where I question some developments (like Gentoku joining them with such a bizarre taste in clothes), but upon reflection, this is one of the few Kamen Rider series where all six characters have interacted at some point with each other. They really do come off as a family brought together by war and that won’t tear them apart. Ever. Sento is logical but he cares the most out of everyone, even down to little things like ripping a shirt so that he could patch up Gentoku. Ryuuga is occasionally a jerk and brash but he still cares so much, I think each death he encounters reminds him of the day he failed to save the woman he loved. He even grabbed Sento by the shirt at the thought of Kazumin facing his end. Misora is pretty much the heart of this group, despite being the youngest. Sawa has been a pawn for as long as she could remember, but she still became a big sister/best friend to Misora, the youngest in the party. Kazumin actually regrets using the Blizzard Knuckle because he has to bid goodbye to them (and he has reasonable interactions with everyone to think that). Gentoku’s still the weak end of the chain in several ways but he is still trying to repent for his mistakes and he did develop a comradeship with Kazumin. I’ve enjoyed how despite the rough patches, they haven’t let go of each other completely, and everyone’s – I’ll get to that bit soon.

After this reflection, it’s safe to say that my perception on the group relationship was inspired by a lack of Kamen Rider

Did you have to give him such an awesome upgrade when he was at the brink of death? Did you have to use that light particle evaporating technique to highlight the fact that this is his last stand??? Kazumin managed to lay waste to the Three Crow clones and even purified a Lost Bottle for Sento to use, and his words to Mii-tan…somehow the fact that he never called her Misora seals something good. To the end Kazumin still sees Mii-tan as the idol who gave him happiness while hard at work in Hokuto, and she repays the favour by begging him not to go away (me too, sister, me too), clinging onto him as she screams “Grease”

Saying that she won’t call him “Kazumin” because it feels like he’ll go away if she does broke something in me

And after saying he’ll brag to the others in the afterlife that his idol cheered him on, Kazumi Sawatari said no more and disappeared into the light.

I thought my reaction would be hysterical. Maybe it isn’t because I watched this episode in a public place, but seeing Kazumin’s death left me with goosebumps all over me and I felt a rift cracking in my heart. Seriously, my chest feels like it got an Evolto slash to it and…just, I cried one lone tear and just…oh my gosh. I thought I’d be screaming like I did last time I saw the preview but watching the episode proper…I suppose tranquil grief/sadness is a sure sign of denial? Just, seeing Misora telling the others and screaming while the sound went mute, seeing all the others wailing in their grief despite their injuries, reminded me heavily of that Harry Potter movie moment where apparently Harry Potter lost some mentor figure and he was left screaming while someone held him back. I’m just…Kazumin has broken me.

Up until now, I have been actually kind in my terms with Evolto, but now he’s given me the words “just go to hell” and some swear words in mind.

Do I even have the courage to watch the next episode when it looks like one or two more people will die?

What even gave you the right to kill Kazumin, Mr. Muto, other than the fact that you created him and decided to freeze him to death and now you’re making me regret for wishing for an upgrade what did I ever do to you - what did anyone in this fandom do to you - are in conspiring with Evolto - and it looks like what Senior Katsuragi aimed to do was have the two worlds of Kamen Rider (one mainstream, one Build-specific) combine into one - well I guess you can have your crossovers without trouble now, huh, you little pUNK

What made you think killing Kazumin was a great idea when you didn’t even have him, ya’know, learn how to free himself of his guilt or something or whatever dhdgfhsjs like out of all the Riders for this season he got the least development - and not counting Utsumi because I just despise that pscyho lap dog -

WHY DID YOU KILL KAZUMIN - like the ONE person who calls Ryuuga by his first name and does comedy that doesn’t feel forced or whatever - STOP SHOOING AWAY THE CLOWNS

SS/Kamen Rider Ramble #94: Kazumin Has Made Me Go On A Very Long Freak Out Session  Within the Span of Twenty Seconds of A Preview So I Might As Well Put My Feelings Here - Kamen Rider Build Episode 47 Preview

I regret seeing the Kamen Rider Build episode 47 preview -

I just wanted to see how my little gang were doing but first of all why is my Sawa’s hand covered in blood like who’s blood is that

WHY IS KAZUMIN’S DIALOGUE THE TYPICAL SPEECH GIVEN BY THE HEROES WHO ARE GOING TO DIE IN ANYTHING KAMEN RIDER LIKE WHY MUST UPGRADE = DEATH FOR HIM

ANDDDDD LIKE EVER SINCE THE DAY HE GOT THE HAZARD LEVEL UPGRADE I KNEW SOMEONE WAS GOING TO DIE AND I GUESS IT’S NOT RYUUGA BUT -

I KNEW IT WATER AND OIL DON’T MIX YOU CAN’T KILL MY KAZUMIN MUTO-SENSEI -

Misora screams “Grease!” and yep this is the moment where my heart partially dies or rots or gets burned in one thousand and ninety seven burning chemicals because I’m getting Otoya Kurenai flashbacks - you kill a nicely developed character/father off and then you kill a still suicidal and greasy bean who still has potential what is Toei’s form of justice

LIKE I GET IT I’M SORRY FOR NOT BEING A LOYAL FAN FOR THE PAST MONTH SO DON’T KILL KAZUMIN WHAT DID I DO TO DESERVE THIS FATE LIKE YOU MISS FOUR EPISODES AND THEN BOOM! GREASY BEAN IS DEAD

YOU HAD TO USE THE SAME ACTOR WHO’S SOMEHOW BECOME COOLER WITHIN A TEN YEAR TIME SPAN

YOU GIVE THEM A UPGRADE I COULD CRY FOR

I GUESS??? YOU’RE LETTING SOME SHIP TEASE PREVAIL??? I THINK??? Like Otoya died in his lover’s lap and I’m guessing Kazumin dies standing upright and Misora is pressing her crying face against his back because he’s never gonna say “Mii-tan!” or do his little fanboy moments and this is what you get for calling him Grease this whole time - I know this isn’t even your fault and you have every right to choose who you wanna like as an admirer but I’m just in despair over Kazumin so I’m unfortunately projecting those feelings onto another character LOL :)

Once again: you get a ultimate(?) upgrade after a whole season of sharing a transformation trinket or just getting another mini drill and then you have to die for it, what have these men done other than being (redeemable) perverts

Now that I think about it Otoya had a little gang of Jiro, Riki and Ramon and those three ended up in some flying CGI dragon castle with the weirdest hammerspace ever for the next twenty one years and even though he has dying Otoya had his spirit ask his former enemies/comrades to watch over Wataru - Kazumin had Three Little Crows who died in a ten episode period and he continues to live with the guilt to the point where he’s going to die in the upcoming episode and he may as well ask someone to look over Hokuto in his place

Bottom line is that Kazumin is going to die :) This has to be the nicest preview I’ve ever seen in my four year tenure as a Toei fan ahahaha -
