3. The Imperial Coroner - Main Quad Polycule (Prince An / Chuchu / Leng Yue / Jing Yi)

Ok I haven’t finished the show so I didn’t want to get too into the gifs in case of spoilers BUT this is the polycule that KEEPS! ON! GIVING!

The straight couples are cute but each of them also has SO MUCH CHEMISTRY with their same gender counterpart it’s insane (those are the gifs I’m including but THEY ALL LOVE EACH OTHER)

Chuchu basically sees all of them and spends the entire show rhapsodizing about how hot they are, canonically, out loud, in words

4. Maiden Holmes - Prince Qi / Su Cu

One of the few main hetero pairings I am super invested in

Though tbh they have bi4bi energy so…

They just love each other so much and also believe in each other so much??? And really communicate their needs and expectations?

spock's immediate concern for jim even though smacking people is a routine thing for him

the hand touching

jim walking towards spock as if expecting to be coddled by him

them having the time for a warm moment despite the impending chaos surrounding them

this scene leaves me with no words.

i just love how every word beautifully parallels with spock's death in TWOK. star trek is one of those shows that perfectly masters the use of parallels. they're everywhere.

This one comic strip from Harlan Ellison's graphic novel of "The City on the Edge of Forever" has me 😭

Why is it that no matter how deeply Jim is in love with Edith, he knows he will return to Spock (and the Enterprise).

And the fact that Edith says she WANTS to belong to Jim. Does that mean she fears he already belongs to Spock? (or maybe someplace far away from her like when he used to captain a starship?)

And when Spock enters the room in the next bit...

She looks so defeated when Jim walks away from her with Spock.

It's not really about Spock but the fact that somehwere in her she knows that Jim doesn't belong right here where he is. The future that she "believe(s) in is the best one" which is where Jim is from and the one that he will return to.
