Craving
Summary: Hunter sees you in a dress and doesn’t know how long he can wait to get his hands on you.
Pairing: Hunter x Fem!Reader
Warnings: NSFW. 18+. Smut, PiV, cunnilingus. Established relationship. Hunter being horny.
Word Count: 3500
Author’s Note: Wow this took me way longer than anticipated to finish! This is a spiritual successor to my Crosshair fic Handful. There was a dear anon who requested this (awhile ago, I’m sorry it took me awhile haha).
Please enjoy Hunter being horny over reader in a dress. Once again, this takes place on Pabu where everyone is happy. It’s what they all deserve, dammit! Let me know what you think and I hope you enjoy. 💛
Hunter was suffering. He was absolutely, positively suffering.
His grip on the supply container was faltering, his eyes transfixed on you at the end of the dock.
Hunter was supposed to be helping Wrecker haul supplies from the dock to where the festival was being set up, but he hadn't made much progress, or any at all.
You were wearing a new dress, one that immediately resulted in all of Hunter’s senses going haywire when he saw you in it earlier in the day.
You had emerged from the bedroom adorned in the lightweight sundress, rushing out the door with Omega to meet Phee at the docks to help with setup.
You had volunteered to help Phee and Shep put on a cultural festival, taking on most of the organizational tasks, so you’ve been busy the last week with last-minute setup duties.
Games, food, performances, it was going to have all the works. You wanted it to be perfect for everyone, and today was the day.
You kissed him quickly on the lips, saying you’d see him later.
Before he could even respond or compliment the new clothing, you and Omega were gone.
Hunter was left with the image of your backside jiggling under the flimsy, short dress as you shut the front door of your shared bungalow behind you.
Your shoulders and neck were completely exposed, thighs on full display. Thighs that he already knew were going to be wrapped around his head later that evening.
How you looked in that split-second has been replaying in his brain all day, waiting for the moment he can get you alone, thinking of all the delicious cries he’ll pull from your plump lips as he pleasures you beyond comprehension.
He needed to feel you under his hands and see how much more of you he can get to jiggle under that dress. Hunter needed to trace your curves and peel back the thin material inch by inch, tasting and worshiping every centimeter of your body.
“Hunter, ya need help?” Wrecker stepped in front of him, blocking Hunter’s view of you, interrupting his fantasy.
Hunter blinked, coming back to reality.
Wrecker had easily hauled his share of supplies and Hunter’s pile was almost untouched.
“Oh yeah, sorry. I’m just a bit distracted today.” Hunter huffed as he lifted the crate fully. Wrecker grabbed a few more, precariously balancing them in his arms.
“Heh, I’m excited about the festival, too!” Wrecker smiled, assuming Hunter was distracted for other reasons.
“Everyone has been working hard to make it happen. I heard there’s going to be LOTS of good food!” Hunter nodded, half-listening while watching you out of the corner of his eye.
You were inspecting a crate of unfamiliar-looking fruits, making sure they were acceptable to sell at the festival.
A slight breeze coming off the sea was rustling your dress, lifting the hem and exposing more of your thighs, giving Hunter another view that made his body burn under the already hot sun.
Hunter swallowed thickly, feeling sweaty as he walked with Wrecker, thinking he might not be able to wait until after the festival to have his way with you.
The sun was setting over the calm ocean, a full moon peeking out from behind clouds, stars blinking into existence as the sky turned a deep purple.
The festival was in full swing, laugher, music, and mouth-watering scents hanging in the air. Hunter barely had a chance to talk to you all day, since you were busy making sure the festival was going according to plan.
As he walked through the crowd, he spotted Crosshair with Omega at one of the game booths, while Wrecker was chatting up one of the food vendors.
Tech was with Phee, trying to explain in excruciating detail the significance of a cultural dance that was being performed.
Echo was sharing wine with a local artist, admiring their paintings, though his eyes were mostly admiring the artist.
Hunter smiled to himself, pleased to see his family just be…happy.
Comfortable.
Ordinary.
Hunter never imagined himself settling down anywhere with anyone. Yet here he was, with you, the love of his life, and Omega, who now has stability and can be the child she deserved to be.
Ever since you all decided to settle on Pabu, you immersed yourself with the people of the island, often helping Phee in the museum, cataloging artifacts, and helping newcomers settle into their new lives.
Hunter was proud of you, seeing how much work and energy you put into making this festival happen and knew how much it meant to you for it to be successful.
Hunter was scanning the crowd, trying to find you. You were still busy, running around and making sure all the festival-goers were satisfied.
You needed to remember to enjoy yourself, too, and Hunter was going to make sure of that.
Hunter grabbed two cups of wine, finally finding you in the crowd.
You were speaking with some musicians who were about to begin their performance, making sure they started on time to ensure the performers after them stayed on schedule.
Hunter couldn’t help but marvel at how beautiful you looked in the setting sun, his heart swelling at how lucky he was to have you. Something else began to swell in his pants, watching your hips sway under the silky looking dress material. You were still wearing the dress from earlier, his fantasy not forgotten.
You heard your name, turned, and saw Hunter walk toward you, holding the wine.
You excused yourself from the musicians, realizing you hadn’t seen him all day. You felt a little guilty, smiling as he approached you.
“Everything going okay, mesh’la?”
You nodded, taking the wine you realized you needed.
“Yes, even though I just had to tell Crosshair to cool it on the ring-tossing game. You won’t believe how many stuffed tookas Omega has now…”
Hunter chuckled as he kissed your temple, his arm coming around your lower back, bringing you in close.
“Everyone is having a good time…do you have time to take a break? I’ve missed you today.”
You let out a soft sigh. “I know…you know how I can get. I just wanted tonight to go perfectly for everyone.”
You sipped the sweet wine, watching Hunter’s eyes darken as he pulled away, his eyes roaming your form.
“It is, I promise. You should be proud of yourself for organizing this. I’m proud of you.”
You smiled at his words, feeling his hand ghost across the top of your ass. “Thank you, Hunter. I feel like I owe it to the people here for accepting us so quickly.” Hunter nodded in agreement, still subtly feeling up your ass.
“I was going to ask if you wanted to watch the performance, but I think you have something else on your mind.” You raised your eyebrows at him, seeing a familiar glint of need in his eyes.
“I’ve been wanting to tell you how irresistible you look in this dress.” His voice dropped an octave into a smokey whisper as his lips brushed over your earlobe. “I’d love to show you…if you have the time.”
Hunter moved his arm from your waist, running his hand down your side, lightly pinching at your hip, feeling the fabric between his fingertips.
Kriff, it was softer than he imagined. Hunter’s hungry eyes met yours, and you knew what he was thinking.
You sipped your wine, a coy smile tugging at your lips. “Thank you. I was hoping you’d like it. I think I do have time for a break.”
You traced your hand over his chest, throwing him a devilish look. Hunter took that as a yes, quickly taking the wine from you and setting both your cups down.
He took your arm, leading you through the crowd until you were on the outskirts of the activities. You quickly walked down an empty corridor, the sounds of the celebration fading.
Mesh’la…” He growled in your ear as he led you down an empty alleyway, smelling the wine on his breath.
“I don’t think I can wait any longer…to show you how good you look.” His dexterous fingers slid up your body, the flimsy material of the dress exciting him, knowing what lays beneath.
You shuddered as he licked your earlobe, gently taking it into his mouth before lightly dragging his canines ran down your neck.
You were trying to stay quiet, but his alluring utterances and touches forced whimpers to leave your lips.
“I need you.” His voice was ragged, breathing in the sweet arousal on your skin, mixing with the salty twilight air.
You grasped his wide shoulders as he nipped and sucked at your skin, feeling his cock harden against your stomach. You let out a whine at the sensation, your own need growing intensely.
“Can you feel what you do to me?” He husked, pulling away and looking directly into your eyes. “Every since I saw you this morning, I’ve been wanting to fuck you in this dress.” You could feel how wet your panties were now, realizing how turned on he was by your outfit.
Hunter’s lips were on yours, vigorous and all-consuming. Your knees buckled at his eager kiss as he slipped the straps of your dress down your shoulders.
“H-Hunter someone could see…” you broke away from his impassioned kiss momentarily, realizing how hot and heavy you were getting in the alleyway. His chest reverberated with a deep laugh.
“Let them see - let them see how lucky I am to have someone like you…” his lips were on you again, this time his large hands slipping over your ass, giving a hearty squeeze that made you squeal.
Hunter’s grip slipped under your thighs, hauling you up and pressing you into the wall. Your arms flew around his neck for purchase, his groin pressing hotly into your center.
“But maybe it’s time to head home, what do you think?” He sucked on your collarbone, kissing up to your bare shoulder, nibbling and sucking as he went. “We have the place to ourselves, let’s make good use of it, hm? I’ve been biding my time to get you alone.”
You nodded, remembering Omega was spending the night with Lyana after the festival.
“I don’t think we’ll be missed, we won’t be gone for too long…” Hunter stopped, waiting for your answer.
You slid your palm down to his crotch, rubbing his painfully hard length through his pants, giving him your answer. “I suppose I can reward you for your patience.” You purred, palming him slowly. “I won’t make you wait any longer.”
The second you got through the front door, Hunter was all over you. His hands roamed, bunching up the fabric of your dress, sliding up your thighs, over your hips, and squeezing your breasts through the dress.
Goosebumps erupted all over your hot skin, even in the tropical Pabu air.
Craving burned hot in your veins, your nails digging into his wavy locks. You tugged lightly, causing him to groan against your mouth, knowing he liked it when you pulled at his hair.
You don’t remember when he removed your panties and bra, or how you got on the bed, but now he was hovering over you, his clothes discarded.
A predatory look flashed in his eyes as he took all of you in beneath him.
The way the dress hugged your features, leaving little to the imagination, set his senses ablaze.
He could see your hard nipples poking through the dress, your delicious curves highlighted almost sinfully as you gazed up at him, the same want in your eyes as was in his.
The feeling of the soft fabric was maddening, greedily grabbing fistfuls of your soft flesh as his hands explored your voluptuous form.
He was still groping as he planted wet, sloppy kisses up to your ear.
“I want to take you in this dress.” Hunter licked at your pulse point, feeling your heart rate increase under his tongue.
“How do you want me?” You gasped, needing more of him by the second.
“I want you on my face.”
His voice was husky, his words thick with feverish cravings that sent lightning bolts of pleasure straight to your core.
“Is that okay?”
You nodded dumbly, your thoughts muddled by passion.
Hunter let out a low grunt of approval as he rolled off you, laying on his back, beckoning you to him. How could you deny him, especially when he looked like this?
His eyes were hooded, his breath labored, some of his curly hair falling haphazardly out of his bandana. Hunter’s control was already unraveling and you’ve barely gotten started.
“I know how wet you are, mesh’la. Let me help you. Let me taste your perfect pussy.”
A shudder ran down your spine as you you crawled over and positioned yourself over his head, hiking up your dress as your thighs surrounded his face. You braced yourself on the headboard, looking down at the man between your legs.
Hunter’s pupils were blown with wild lust as he gazed up at your pussy, his mouth watering with anticipation.
“I don’t want to-I don’t want to hurt you or-“ You whispered, trembling at his breath ghosting over your exposed cunt.
Hunter chuckled, carefully caressing your thighs, his touch gentle. “You could never hurt me. And if this is how I go, I wouldn’t have it any other way.” He gave your thighs a curt squeeze.
“Now sit on me, please.”
Hunter clutched the soft flesh of your ass, keeping your dress pulled up as he drew you down to his mouth. The second his tongue eagerly lapped at your folds, you let out a high-pitched whimper, your chin falling to your chest. “Hunter…! Oh, stars…”
Hunter began licking and probing, switching between fucking you as deep as he could with his tongue and suckling on your clit. It was almost overwhelming, your airy mewls becoming heavy moans as Hunter devoured you from beneath.
Hunter let out a primal growl as your arousal soaked his face. Your inner thighs were now coated in your slick, your clit swelling with every suck and pass of his tongue.
All your nerves were on fire, heat bubbling in your lower belly, the obscene sounds of Hunter lapping and practically purring beneath you was building your release quickly.
Hunter’s senses were ablaze, his hips instinctually bucking, his cock weeping as his face remained buried underneath you, intensely focused on your pleasure.
Hunter loved feeling the weight and warmth of you on his face, hearing every sweet cry that left your lips, inhaling the scent of your sex. It was almost overwhelmingly perfect. You were perfect.
He was at the core of you, and there was nowhere else he’d rather be.
Hunter’s fingers dug into the fat of your thighs, your dress bunched in his fists as he licked long stripes up and down your swollen lips. He made sure to keep the pressure on your clit, feeling your thigh muscles constrict around his head.
“Hunter…I’m close…don’t stop…” You could barely form a coherent sentence as he continued his feast.
Your thighs were quivering, your dress sticking to your body, and you were letting the most lewd sounds escape your throat, not holding back and letting Hunter know how he was making you feel.
You were gripping the headboard so hard you thought it might crack under your grip.
Burning heat was licking in your loins, a molten coil tightening and threatening to spring loose with every move of Hunter’s tongue, his thick muscle rolling and pressing against your clit.
You glanced down, finding it tough to keep your eyes open, and the look in Hunter’s eyes looking back at you between your legs was what sent you over the edge.
His eyes were blown with lust, black and deep, a carnal determination to feel your release on his tongue and taste every drop.
You threw your head back, his name a chant leaving your lips as you convulsed over him, your muscles spasming up as your orgasm rocked your entire being.
Hunter let out a satisfied groan, keeping you down tight against his face, letting you grind and ride your orgasm against him, not slowing his tongue and lips sucking at your clit. He didn’t want to miss a single drop.
You began to relax, your thighs now jelly, trying to get air back in your lungs. Hunter’s ministrations slowed, and you slid off of him, laying at his side.
“Mesh’la…” Hunter made no move to clean off his face, shining with your juices.
“I’ve been waiting all day for that. You taste incredible. As always.”
You were trying to come back down from the atmosphere, your mind spinning with the intensity of your orgasm, but still needing more.
“Now, how do you want me?”
Hunter asked, sultry as he licked some of your slick off his lips, savoring your taste.
“In your lap. I want to ride your cock.” You knew this was one of his favorite positions since he was able to feel all of you, and it made his heightened senses short-circuit every time.
Hunter didn’t need another second to comply, maneuvering himself to sit against the headboard. “Yes, ma’am.”
His eyes flashed as you sat up, lowering yourself in his lap. “Take my cock. I’m all yours.”
“Do you still want the dress on?” You asked sweetly, sliding your still sensitive pussy against his throbbing cock.
“Yes.” He rubbed his hands on your ass, feeling the soft fabric and your supple flesh underneath, the sensations driving him mad. “Kriff, yes.”
He pressed his face into your neck as you lowered yourself on top, taking in all of him. The stretch was wonderful, finally having him inside you, hearing the hitch in his breathing as he bottomed out.
Hunter grunted, feeling your tight muscle clench around him.
“You look ‘sgood in this dress…feel ‘so good…I love you…” He slurred as you bounced on him, all of the sensations you were giving him building almost too quickly.
You grasped at his shoulders for leverage, moving up and down, feeling every ridge and vein of his thick cock against your walls, your whines and mewls matching his deep groans as you increase your pace.
You knew he wouldn’t last long like this, and didn’t want him to hold back.
Hunter clutched your waist, thrusting up against you to match yours, driving deeper into you.
Your sounds, your smell, he could feel his end building fast.
“I’m not going to last…” He rasped, now licking at your nipples through the thin fabric of your dress, adding to your pleasure. His thrusts up into you became stronger, hitting that magical spot so deep inside you, your eyes rolled back into your head.
Hunter hastily slid the straps of your dress down your shoulders once again, tugging the front down to expose your breasts, needing to feel your pebbled nipples on his tongue.
All you could do was let out breathy gasps, another orgasm building to a breaking point with each snap of his hips and debauched slurp as he sloppily sucked your tits.
“Hunter…I love you…I love the way you make me feel…oh stars…keep going…” Your words faded into gibberish as his mouth teased and tantalized your breasts, his movements becoming erratic.
“Cum for me. I want to hear you, feel you…cum on my cock…please…” Hunter’s voice was guttural, desperate, murmuring between suckling and nipping at your tits with his teeth.
You were delirious at this point, your breasts being ravished by his mouth as he kneaded and groped your thighs and ass, his cock bringing you closer and closer to the glorious edge with every frantic movement of his hips.
“Hunter…you feel so good, make me feel so good…”
“That’s right…you take me so well, you’re beautiful like this…I can feel everything…”
Not only was he feeling his pleasure, he could feel yours too.
Hunter could hear every subtle change in pitch of your moans, feel every muscle twitch in your cunt as you milked him, smell the overpowering scent of your sweat and arousal…he was undone.
Hunter let out a muffled shout against your chest as he came hard, erupting inside you. Hunter wrapped his arms around your torso, tugging you flush against him as he rode out his pleasure.
His cock twitched and swelled inside you as he frantically bucked his hips, filling you to the brim, feeling the warmth spread in your cunt.
Only you were graced with the privilege to see your Sergeant fall apart like this. He was a mess, letting out low moans as his senses amplified every sensation.
Your orgasm followed right after, his cock rubbing your clit in just the right way, still sensitive from before. You cried his name like a prayer of devotion, holding him close as ecstasy blossomed throughout your body. “Hunter…oh Maker…Hunter…!”
Hunter kept his head huddled into your neck, his breath fanning across your chest as he listened to your heartbeat and felt your wet warmth flutter around his softening cock.
Your movements slowed, basking in one another, not quite ready for him to leave you or for you to leave him.
You couldn’t help but let out a tired chuckle as he looked up at you, a small smile on his lips, his face still glistening with your juices from before.
“Was that a nice enough break?” He whispered. You smiled back at him, kissing him softly.
“Yes.” Was all you could say, still trying to catch your breath. You moved off him, laying down on the bed, already missing how he felt buried inside you as you re-adjusted your dress.
Hunter hummed in contentment, rising off the bed and heading into the refresher. He walked back moments later with a damp towel, wiping the inside of your thighs and gently cleaning you up.
“You’re a mess.” He smirked. “You can’t go back to the festival looking like this.”
You sat up, playfully nudging his shoulder. “I have you to thank for that.”
Hunter kissed you, cupping your cheek and tracing his thumb over your flushed face. “I can’t help that you’re the most beautiful person I’ve ever seen. With or without the dress.”
He pressed his forehead against yours, nuzzling your face.
“I’ll have to add it into my weekly rotation.” You teased. “I’d prefer daily.” Hunter smirked, kissing you sweetly again.
Hunter laid next to you, and you rested your head against his chest, tracing your fingertips over his tattoo that ran down his torso. “We should get back soon…” You muttered.
Hunter’s eyes were closed, his breathing slow. “Mmm…yeah…” was all he could muster.
“If I’m not there to stop Crosshair from winning every game, there won’t be prizes left for anyone.” Hunter laughed, cracking open his eyes. “We better get back then.” Neither of you moved, still relishing in one another.
You hummed, thinking. “Ten more minutes won’t hurt.”
Hunter smiled. “Fifteen?”
“Omega might come back with an army of stuffed tookas by then.”
Hunter playfully sighed. “Okay, ten minutes. But only if you promise to wear that dress the rest of the night.”
Hunter may not be a soldier any longer, but his reflexes and strength still remained.
He had you pinned underneath him in an instant, his lips centimeters from yours. “I’m not done with you, yet.”
Your breath hitched at his provocative promise for later, one that he fulfilled over and over again after the festival ended, even after your dress was long discarded.

kink as religion/spirituality
it’s a little gauche to say something is “like a cult” - it’s overused as an expression
but a large problem i have with kink/bdsm subculture is the commonalities with religion, the spiritual aspects
when you think of precedents for “consensual” ritualized harm and self harm, they are religious (several groups have traditions of undergoing full on crucifixions for Easter, there’s similar rites for some Shia Muslims for Ashura - which is today I believe)
the desire for progression as some sort of internal challenge - there’s always a desire and encouragement to expand one’s limits
it’s driven by the same desire for a transcendent experience
the communities’ members have strange persecution complexes, gaslighting victims of abuse, especially when by higher ranking members
the focus on hierarchy (leather culture had formalized rules - serve in a house, train as submissive - tortured gay men wanting to punish themselves - maybe can read a form a Catholicism into this; modern kink culture is like modern Protestantism in that any sufficiently well groomed upper middle class man can claim to have the unique skills to be a good pastor/“dom” and open up a church/dungeon)
the repulsion towards former members/critiques of systemic issues present (expression anti kink opinions has gotten me the same kind of hateful response from other trans men that being a trans man did in the 2010s online - to the point where gendering people correctly appears to be optional for folks who are anti kink? the double whammy of being accused of being a TERF and than insulted with “girl” is always a fucking whiplash - can you not use the term “TERF” to mean “anyone i don’t like,” y’all look like fucking morons)
maybe many of these things can be applied to things like multi level marketing or any other extremely large organizational idea that people subsume their identity into, but the aspect of seeking “ecstasy” adds a hellish intensity to the mix
and like losing one’s religion, it’s difficult to leave. it’s difficult to part with the thought parties the beliefs. it’s difficult to justify to outsiders. (i agreed to let him do X but he did Y - the specifics don’t matter but it’s going to happen to you)
it creates mind bending cognitive dissonance - only puritanical criticisms of kink can be addressed. no matter what critique of kink you make, the response is
men are submissive too! (go actually look at femdom porn/hentai lol and see what they want or make a troll fet dom-F account if you don’t believe me + most submissive men are trans men with self esteem issues - the type who have boyfriends that refer to them as their girlfriend to their family; the religious analog would be something about complementary gender roles perhaps)
it’s all about consent! (what do we say about consent in power dynamics? now this is a subtle point, which is made impossible to address because it is such a fundamental threat to heterosexuality itself, that Dworkin tried to make and was glossed into “all sex is rape” because it is such a threat - what do we say to the idea of consent when we are fundamentally unequal human beings by nature of assigned sex of birth? who makes more money? who can overpower? i think most have gotten the picture that what Thomas Jefferson did to Sally Hemings was unambiguously rape, but what about all of the women throughout history when marital rape was considered the norm? it requires acknowledging that your great grandpa probably raped your great grandma, or up and down that line for thousands of generations - maybe if you acknowledge up front that gooners are going to want you to agree to humiliating and disgusting sex acts up front - that agreeing to have mutual fun with a stranger means rolling the dice on physical assault - maybe if you agree up front and pretend you can set some kinds of rules it’ll work out; similarly, religion is the comfort that life isn’t pointless suffering and maybe we’ll get to see our dog and grandma again if you follow these rules)
you can’t project your trauma onto the community/bad people aren’t doing really kink (i have a fairly large sampling size of kink partners and experiences personally. i genuinely don’t believe my arguments can be dialed down to “i had personal trauma in kink thus all kink is bad” unless one is taking my words at bad faith. this very much reeks of accusing atheists of hating god because of trauma or not getting what they want.)
you don’t actually believe that/you’re lying/you want it (these are obvious comparisons to religion)
these feel like the same kinds of responses i see to ex Mormons/Jehovah’s Witnesses/etc online
modern kink is similar to modern Protestantism in that it facilitates the creation of micro cults. institutionalization of kink is structured such that critique can be deflected onto individual actors. i’d argue Reddit is a major source of kink “education” - and no one can deny that subreddits can have concerning moderators. You have Fetlife, which is primarily heterosexual, male dom/female sub pornography. You have a couple of Booktok tier pop psych books which encourage Bronze Age marriage models. This maps to the diffuse ways in which American Protestantism propagates its ideas - it’s a nebulous mess of ideas that can evaporate when asked to take responsibility. We can’t hold all Christians accountable for Mark Driscoll’s ideas; we can’t hold all kinksters responsible for the actions of [insert the creeps who message you if you take up my suggestion of a troll fetlife account]. But can we not ask what it says about American Protestantism that Mark Driscoll exists and says what he says? And can we not look askew when what he said could be happily echoed by a kinkster as long as it was prefixed with “it’s kinky and consensual btw <3” and had been posted on fetlife anonymously - instead of his own church forum?
Kink is reactionary ideology which has parasitized societal acceptance of queer folks to justify the abusive dynamics of heterosexual relationships and sex, which has replaced religion as the justification for that dynamic.

TWO-EDGED WEAPON OF ENGLISH MAJOR STUDENT
Indulging yourself in different worlds of literature while dealing with so many academic workloads. Understanding grammar while being misunderstood by other people because of your course. Yes, that's the life of an education student majoring in English.
Being an English major isn't all sunshine and roses or a walk in the park; it's a roller coaster ride full of struggles, challenges, and late-night breakdown sessions. Embracing this course means you are willing to experience new adventures every day. From reading classic novels to analyzing poetry, we have the privilege of immersing ourselves in the beauty of literature. However, before we can get to appreciate the benefits we can get from it, sometimes it is really hard to stay calm and focus in the moments when we have to read novels thicker than our belly fat in just one night. Let's say you are a bookworm and you love reading stories, but we, English majors, are also exposed to huge workloads like never-ending lesson plans, research papers, and essays.
Aside from these bunches of readings, we are also critically understanding the rules of grammar, lexical structures, and even pronunciation. It is indeed overwhelming considering deadlines, exams, presentations, and performances. Going beyond these students' struggles, another hardship is the pressure to excel in both teaching and the English subject matter. The high expectations cause stress and anxiety. The fear of committing grammatical lapses because of the discrimination and notions that people will throw at us.
However, there are always two sides to the story, so let me share the advantages we get from this course. Committing to it is challenging but also rewarding. Aside from the fact that there are a lot of job opportunities after finishing this course, there are so many benefits that we can get from pursuing this career. Reading literature does not only give us the privilege to adapt to different writing styles but can also nurture the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of our lives and health. Aside from the life lessons, it can also serve as a temporary escape from everything that can help us relax. It can also improve our analytical skills and even develop our empathy for and knowledge of different cultures and histories. We gain a deeper understanding of the complexities of language and communication. Additionally, being exposed to this overwhelming and exhausting environment also helps us find ways to manage our workloads by utilizing effective time management and organizational skills, which are essential for our future careers as educators.
Lastly, despite the struggles and challenges, English major students are honored and fortunate, as we have the assurance that we are equipped with the skills and experiences to fulfill our calling in the future. The road might be long and difficult, but the rewards will outweigh the challenges; it's a two-edged weapon that we need to have, experience and embrace as struggles is one of our major molders. Being an education student majoring in English is an endless exploration while offering wisdom and inspiration to future generations.

The Garden and the Stars: Some thoughts on the Agrarian Urge of Cottagecore and Motivational Visions more broadly.
Tomas Jefferson ascended to the presidency on March 4th, 1801... (okay, just stick with me here. It is going somewhere.) Jefferson was a Republican, the oppositional party to the Federalists, and Jefferson believed in personal independence and subsistence farming. When in office he cut every tax he could find, shrunk the army & navy, and preformed the Louisiana Purchase, doubling the size of the United States. Jefferson was also an ardent White Supremacist, rapacious Slaver, and ecologically destroyed North America.
After the Napoleonic Era the German nation was shattered into little warring states, with the space of hegemon contested between the Militaristic Prussians and Conservative Austrians. In this volatile environment a new Aesthetic trend emerged from the fleeting Feudal and precarious Middle Classes, Volkism. The Volkists wanted to return to "Nature;" they thought Germany was being poisoned by Capitalism and Modernism, that the Industrial and the Urban were tools of oppression and all of it had to be smashed. They fostered hiking communities, youth groups, communes, many even went so far as trying to revive Pagan Spiritualism or creating a new Animist faith. The Volkists were also Proto-Fascists, their aesthetics and political activity being a key trend in the development of Nazism.
The 2008 Financial Crash lead to, conservatively speaking, some Skepticism about the stability of the Neo-Liberal order. Concurrent to the idea scramble of the late 00s to early 10s was the popularization of the Internet and social media like Tumblr; which in turn developed a new organization of Culture around mass instant and highly pictographic communication. What took a book and a printing house could now be done with some photos and a pocket sized phone. Aesthetics exploded. Already latent though they were Aesthetics, which are a language of signs and symbols, took the front seat in shaping culture, with many people emergently creating and combining Aesthetics to suit their needs or tastes.
One such Aesthetic was called "Cottagecore;" which valorizes personal independence and subsistence farming, wanting to return to "Nature," thinking society is being poisoned by Capitalism and Modernism. Often followers of Cottagecore foster hiking communities, youth groups, communes, many even going so far as trying revive Pagan Spiritualism or creating a new Animist faith. (Told you I was going somewhere.)
Aesthetics are not simply a series of images, they are an organization of symbols around some concepts and each Aesthetic is appealing to its adherents because of those concepts expressed by the organization. The above two Aesthetics (Volkism and Cottagecore) organize from the same source concept first fully exampled by Jefferson, this concept we will call "the Agrarian Urge" onward going.
The Agrarian Urge first developed in the Early-Modern period as a reaction to Primitive Accumulation, Capital seizing up the Commons and developing that land for Capitalist Relations. Many dispossessed Peasants and Lords understood this as a destruction of a particular idea of Nature; a "Nature" that was bound up with the "Land," this chunk of territory people were enmeshed in with particular social relations. It all was a very Feudal idea, very Reactionary. But, as time moved forward and Feudalism fully was swept into the dustbin of History the Agrarian Urge developed towards Capitalist Reaction against Communism and in it emerged a strong Racist and Individualist streak. So, by now the Agrarian Urge has within itself an interest in Whiteness, Naturalism, Spiritual Hygiene, Pastoralism, and Rugged Individualism.
As briefly mentioned before, Aesthetics draw people because of its Organizational Concepts which are appealing by some means, which then begs the question (especially for those of us who grew up on a farm) what exactly is appealing about the Agrarian Urge? This is where we get into Motivational Visions, which are the driving force of all actions. As an example when one buys an object they have a Vision what that object will do for them in their life; A vase will beautify their home, a chair will give them relaxation, a gaming console will give them joy et cetera. They have imagined a state of being where they have the object and what that would be like. Motivational Visions also work for negatives, the emotion of fear is the most common articulation. One doesn't go over to an unfamiliar area at night because they imagine what can happen to them in a collection of speculated scenarios. This phenomenon continues to more complex things like Ideology. You, reader, are a Communist because of a Motivational Vision, particular to you, but I can safely bet it has something to do with the idea of a peaceful and stable life after the Revolution or avoiding almost certain poverty and death under Capitalism.
Now, the Motivational Vision behind the Agrarian Urge is a peaceful life of total Social freedom, where one is not beholden to nor reliant on anyone. Everything is DIY and the subject capable. It is the dream of Homesteading. It is a totally impossible Vision that Jefferson attempted to achieve on the backs of slaves and in the blood of uncountable Natives, the Volkists with the attempted annihilation of every Jewish, Romani, Slavic, Queer, Disabled, and "impure" person. Visions have Concepts too, and this one presupposes able bodied people in rigid productive-reproductive relations in isolated, Pre-Industrial capability in service of an Idealistic and Pseudo-Scientific concept of Nature invented by bitter European Landlords. Only a small number of very particular people could survive like that, I am not one of them, you most likely are not ether.
We see the trajectory of Cottagecore into Fascism already, there is no secret that the "Trad Wife" movement (Sexist women part of Christian Extremism and Neo-Nazism) associates itself with the Aesthetic. (See this video here from Strange Æons for an example https://youtu.be/SXGBYAOMLsA ) This development was inevitable from the Concepts inherent in the Agrarian Urge, but we Communists should use this as a lesson. The Historic Process is a great teacher, if you listen. The burgeoning Noosphere suggests Aesthetics as a prime tool for Propaganda, we can and should organize an Aesthetic around the Concepts of Communism, valorizing Democratic Production and Collectivism; expressing our Dynamism, Social interconnectivity, and the awesome Promethean potential of self-aware Masses. An Aesthetic around the will to build a better tomorrow.

Ponchik, thinking: you can do that?!
CW: child experimentation, abuse
The setting is a world in which spirits live on a separate plane of existence but there are places of overlap with the physical world. These spirits are not quite a secret from the world but still rare enough that most people don't know much about them but have accepted them as a part of daily life on Earth. However, due to existence of overlapping areas, there are moments where spirits can partially leak into the physical plane and cause chaos. Therefore there exists a community of people who keep these spirits at bay. They are called spirits guards, and have throughout history and separately across all cultures been a selective group trained to negotiate or fight spirits that have crossed into the in-between. Deals must be made with more sentient spirits in order to receive power or create items that utilize the power of the spiritual realm in order to fight these spirits. In essence, these humans are given permission to interact with the spiritual world in a way that surpasses their natural abilities. This permission is limited to the person receiving it, so every person aiming to join the guard must receive permission from a spirit.
Zul and Lia were children that were forced into accepting spirit power due to an experiment done by the government. A scientist and a mysterious spirit joined hands in order to convince the government to fund their project, claiming to research spirit power and how it could be used as an energy source. However, both want power over each others realms and are experimenting on children to see how much spirit power a human could handle and plan to use these children as personal soldiers/tools.
A handful of orphans were bought and brought deep into the spirit plane, taking them deeper and deeper into the plane to absorb denser and more powerful spirit power until they reached their limit. The deeper into the spirit plane the more abstract and powerful the spirits get. Humans rarely go into the spirit plane, and any that do never go deep due to the inherent danger of too much power settling into their body.
Most of the children died. Only two lived by some miracle: Zul and Lia. Zul, older, showed great potential, awakening the power of small pocket dimensions and the ability to morph power into nearly any shape. Lia, on the other hand, only awakened a weak lie detection skill. Rather than a pinpoint understanding on if the person was lying, they only received a dull sense of wrongness that intensified the more the person believes what they're saying is a lie.
For years Zul and Lia underwent training and experimentation, with Zul doing his utmost to protect Lia, emphasizing their lack of ability to offset training onto himself. In return, Lia offered as much comfort as they could give. Though they wouldn't fully understand the horrors Zul went through, at least they could be a listening ear.
Zul was being trained to become a soldier, a personal spirit guard for the scientist. He began to go on missions to clear the city of spirits— and spirit guards. Soon the city was hauntingly empty of spiritual activity, and those sent to investigate all went missing.
However the project began losing support from the government, disappointed in the lack of results. Unwilling to lose any resource, they released Lia to live in the city, saving money but also keeping them within arms reach. With the understanding that they would be constantly under surveillance, they began to build a life in the city, slowly cobbling together a plan to free their brother still stuck within the project, who had been threatened with Lia (who wasn't aware) to follow orders.
Metis and Ponchik are college friends. Lia ends up working at the same place as Ponchik and somehow become friends, and Mercury, someone who half-lives in the library buried in books, somehow befriends Metis. Then they all end up meeting each other and becoming a group with one braincell (Mercury begrudgingly has it).
Mercury and Lia are the two newcomers to the city while Metis and Ponchik have lived there for a majority of their lives. Mercury lived in the city for longer than Lia, so after learning that Lia was new, was able to give some pointers to help them get adjusted to the city.
However, Lia feels uneasy around Mercury. While kind and gentle, they seemed to be full of lies, even lying about things that don't need to be lied about. This, along with the similarity with Zul's gentleness, makes Lia distance themself from Mercury, who seems to understand and give them space, which confuses Lia and makes them feel guilty for rejecting a seemingly harmless person.
Ponchik is a gentle person, opposed to their general aesthetic. Earnest and passionate about whatever new interest they have, they seem to cruise their way through life without really settling on one thing in particular. They named themself after their favourite food and would eat it breakfast lunch and dinner if they could. Types how they speak, elongating words and misspelling them for emphasis or to convey an accent or funny way of speaking ("eeeediot")
Metis is silent chaos, more willing to take risks and break rules. They love to make really bad puns and dad jokes, and teases Ponchik about being a rule follower. Metis has their own set of rules she follows, though what those rules are is confusing to anyone who hasn't know her long enough. Texts with typos for days because "i spend most of my day painstakingly scouring my code for typos don't make me do it on my off time too"
Mercury is .... well my notes say "so it's like spiderman. Who then got stuck with Deadpool. And is now appalled at being the responsible one." They're smiley and teasing and throws flirty remarks around willy nilly. They're silly and bit pathetic and has absolutely been caught with their arm stuck in a vending machine because their snack wouldn't come out. They are Delighted by Metis's bad jokes and joins in every chance they get to Ponchik's chagrin. They look cool at first glance until they open their mouth and dumb shit falls out. Every other text they send has :) :3 :] they have a Nokia. Good because they drop it too often and forget it too easily
Lia is very deliberate in their actions, taking time to think before talking and quietly watching the people around them before acting. What is awkwardness appears to be quiet and intimidating on the outside. Embarrassed by their lack of knowledge and how awkward they can be. But once they warm up, they can be very playful, absolutely willing to do some stupid shit. They're not particularly impulsive, but does do things that seem so. However they have extensively thought about said action before doing so, so it's planned impulsiveness?? Due to their fashion and jewelry, everyone assumes the hair and eyes are fake. Types very formally but slowly learning texting mannerisms. Particularly Mercury's emotes, so there are academic/Formal texts with the occasional ( ・∇・)
#art#alp art#alp ocs#drawing#doodle#oc#sketch#art on tumblr#original art#digital art#alp lia#i have a working title but idk how likely i am to keep it...#alp divinity of their making#hmm#the concept of zul and lia came during a dream then i built the world aroujd them and made additional characters#they r all rotating in my brain#i will draw more. it will take time but i will.#aough.#i should just call this dumbasses: a story#mercury was absolutely prepared to be the dumb bitch.#and then they had to stop Metis and Lia from seeing how strong of a flamethrower they could make in ten minutes#common sense vs academic intelligence#mercury has two names. as a treat.#and because ive not made a character with an eng and krn name and that is a crime#you can have two names!! you can have *multiple* names!!!!#metis likes to look put together#but they are also a mess#their appearance is the only thing thats visibly neat#that and her organization work#her notes and room are a mess

Even more to the point, Redmond called attention to something few scholars of ancient music have bothered to consider—namely, that the oldest traditions of frame drumming were originally associated with powerful women, and embedded into belief systems centered on femininity, fertility, goddesses, and reverence for the maternal. This rich subject was the focal point for Redmond’s most famous work, the book When the Drummers Were Women: A Spiritual History of Rhythm. Redmond had identified perhaps the most significant point of rupture in music history. During a distant period of cultural upheaval, drums were taken over by men—and not just by male musicians. Drumming was especially favored by military organizations, who realized that this instrument could solve so many organizational problems. Drums instilled discipline into marching soldiers. Drums made opposing troops fearful, their very sound inspiring terror. Drums could be used to send signals and coded messages, identify locations and geographical directions, and provide other informational needs. Yet there was an earlier stage in the history of music and society, Redmond hypothesized, when drumming had been more peaceful—a distant age when women had served as the awe-inspiring custodians of drums and their powers. The role of music was much different back then. When women set the beat, drumming was about fertility, abundance, prosperity, spirituality, and service to higher powers, many of them goddesses. And the drums that did this were almost always frame drums. This small, seemingly insignificant instrument, as Redmond discovered, “is mentioned in the earliest surviving written texts from Sumer in the Tigris-Euphrates River Valley. From Egypt to the Indus River Valley, from Cyprus and Crete to Greece and Rome, priestesses and other worshipping women used the frame drum to celebrate their goddesses as the endlessly rhythmic energy of life."

Choosing the Right Partner for Religious Architecture in Rajasthan
Building a temple in India requires more than just construction skills—it demands a deep understanding of cultural, religious, and architectural heritage. Whether it’s a project in Maharashtra, Rajasthan, or any other state, finding the right contractor can make all the difference. A qualified temple construction contractor will have experience, knowledge, and the right approach to maintain the sanctity and historical value of the project. Below, we explore the essential qualities to look for when selecting a contractor for temple construction services in India, specifically in states like Maharashtra and Rajasthan.
Understanding of Cultural and Religious Sensitivity
Knowledge of Religious Significance and Sacred Design
In Temple Architect in India , one of the most critical qualities in a contractor is their sensitivity toward religious practices and their deep respect for the sacredness of the site. In India, temple construction is not just about creating a structure; it’s about creating a space that represents cultural and spiritual beliefs. Contractors involved in such projects should have an understanding of the religious symbolism and meaning behind design elements.
For instance, in Maharashtra, traditional temple architecture may follow the Hemadpanti style, with intricate stonework and detailed carvings. A contractor skilled in temple construction services in Maharashtra would be aware of these details and have expertise in replicating them accurately. Similarly, in Rajasthan, the Nagara architectural style often incorporates grandeur and symmetry, making it crucial for contractors to have a firm understanding of these local styles.
Respect for Rituals and Cultural Practices
Another aspect of cultural sensitivity is understanding the rituals and traditions that may be associated with temple construction. Different temples may require specific ceremonies or site blessings to be held during various phases of construction. The ideal contractor respects these rituals and is flexible enough to adapt their work schedule around them. They should understand the importance of aligning the project with traditional beliefs and practices.
Proficiency in Traditional Temple Architecture Styles
Expertise in Regional Architectural Styles
A qualified contractor must be proficient in traditional Indian temple architecture styles, which can vary greatly depending on the region. In Maharashtra, contractors may encounter Hemadpanti or Dravidian influences, while Rajasthan’s temples often showcase Rajput and Mughal architectural styles. A contractor specializing in temple construction services in Maharashtra, for example, should have a deep understanding of stone masonry and the particular carvings common to the region.
Skill in Working with Traditional Materials
Temple construction in India often requires specific materials like sandstone, marble, granite, and other regional stones that are essential to the authenticity of the temple. Contractors in Rajasthan, for instance, should be skilled in working with red sandstone or white marble, as these are prominent materials in many of Temple Construction Service in Rajasthan. The best contractors know how to source, handle, and work with these materials effectively while maintaining their durability and aesthetic qualities.
Project Management and Organizational Skills
Efficient Planning and Scheduling for Large-Scale Projects
Temple construction is a large-scale project that often takes years to complete. Selecting a contractor with strong project management skills is essential for ensuring timelines are met and the budget is adhered to. The contractor must be capable of planning each phase of construction in detail, from initial excavation and foundation work to the installation of intricate carvings and finishing touches. Temple projects in Maharashtra and Rajasthan often include multiple layers of detailing, making careful planning crucial.
Managing Skilled Artisans and Laborers
Temple construction often requires skilled artisans, such as sculptors and stone carvers, who can recreate the detailed iconography and symbolic elements. The contractor should have experience in managing a team of artisans and laborers who are adept in traditional craftsmanship. Additionally, they should foster an environment of collaboration and respect, as these artisans bring significant cultural and historical knowledge to the project.
Commitment to Quality and Craftsmanship
High-Quality Craftsmanship Standards
A reputable temple contractor in India is defined by their dedication to high-quality craftsmanship. The construction of a temple involves intricate details, especially in sculpting and carving, which demands exceptional skill and patience. In Rajasthan, for example, many temples are adorned with delicate jaali (lattice) work, which must be executed with precision. Similarly, temples in Maharashtra often feature complex stonework, and contractors should have a track record of delivering meticulous craftsmanship.
Use of Quality Materials
While traditional materials are essential for temple construction, their quality can greatly impact the longevity and aesthetic of the temple. A skilled contractor will source high-quality stone, wood, and other materials, ensuring that these meet the requirements for durability and appearance. Using substandard materials can not only compromise the look of the temple but also affect its structural integrity over time.
Compliance with Legal and Regulatory Standards
Knowledge of Local Building Codes and Regulations
Temple construction contractors must comply with local laws and regulations, including building codes and environmental laws. Contractors experienced in temple construction services in Maharashtra or Rajasthan will understand the permits and approvals needed to initiate and complete a temple project. These may include zoning permits, heritage site permissions, or environmental clearances, depending on the location and scale of the temple.
Health and Safety Standards
Construction sites, particularly for large projects like temples, require a strict adherence to safety standards to protect workers and visitors alike. Contractors must prioritize health and safety by following appropriate safety guidelines, training workers, and implementing safety protocols on-site. Given the intricacy involved in temple construction, with detailed carvings, high walls, and sometimes fragile materials, safety cannot be overlooked.
Proven Track Record and Reputation
Portfolio of Successful Temple Projects
An experienced contractor will have a portfolio that reflects their capabilities in temple construction. Look for a contractor who has completed similar projects and can demonstrate their work through photographs, testimonials, or site visits. This will give you confidence in their ability to execute a project that meets your expectations for design, quality, and durability.
Strong Client Relationships
Lastly, a reputable contractor is often recognized for their strong client relationships and transparent communication. Temple construction projects can span several years, making it essential for contractors to maintain open and respectful communication with clients. They should provide regular updates on progress, discuss any challenges, and be responsive to the client’s needs.
Conclusion
Selecting the right contractor for a temple construction project in India is essential for preserving cultural heritage and achieving the desired aesthetic and functional outcomes.

Why Graduate Degrees in Theology Are Key for Today’s Christian Leaders
Okanagan Bible College recognizes the crucial role that graduate degrees in theology play in equipping leaders for ministry today. These programs provide the depth of knowledge and practical skills necessary to meet the spiritual and organizational needs of churches and faith communities in a rapidly changing world.
1. The Expanding Role of Christian Leadership
The role of Christian leadership has significantly broadened in recent decades. Leaders today must not only guide congregations spiritually but also navigate a complex world filled with cultural, social, and ethical challenges. They must address questions related to justice, mental health, diversity, and inclusivity—all within the framework of Christian doctrine.
Graduate degrees in theology equip leaders with the tools to engage with these issues thoughtfully and effectively. Theological studies delve deep into biblical texts, Christian history, ethics, and practical ministry skills. This advanced knowledge allows leaders to respond to contemporary problems with wisdom, compassion, and a grounded faith.
2. Critical Thinking and Theological Depth
A graduate degree in theology helps leaders develop a critical approach to Scripture and theology. Rather than relying solely on surface-level interpretations, graduate studies provide the training necessary to engage with biblical texts more deeply. This deeper engagement fosters theological depth and helps leaders apply Scripture in a relevant and meaningful way for their congregations.
Courses in hermeneutics, systematic theology, and historical theology, offered by Okanagan Bible College, sharpen the ability to interpret Scripture in its original context while making it applicable to today's issues. This ability to bridge ancient texts with modern realities is critical for any leader seeking to remain relevant and insightful.
3. Enhancing Communication Skills
Leadership in the Christian context requires excellent communication skills. Whether delivering sermons, counseling congregants, or leading small groups, clear and effective communication is vital. Graduate programs often focus on refining these skills by teaching leaders how to preach with clarity, counsel with empathy, and engage in public speaking confidently.
At Okanagan Bible College, we emphasize practical ministry training alongside academic learning. Students not only study theology but also engage in preaching and teaching workshops, gaining experience that translates directly to their leadership roles. This hands-on approach ensures that graduates are equipped not just with knowledge but also with the ability to share that knowledge effectively.
4. Addressing Complex Ethical and Moral Issues
Today’s Christian leaders are often called upon to provide guidance on complex ethical issues such as bioethics, social justice, and morality in politics. A solid theological education provides the framework for addressing these topics from a biblically grounded and ethically sound perspective.
Graduate degrees help leaders explore these complex issues in depth, offering tools to form nuanced opinions and provide thoughtful guidance. Courses on ethics, Christian social teaching, and moral theology help students develop a comprehensive understanding of how to address contemporary challenges through a Christian lens.
The graduate programs at Okanagan Bible College are designed to provide students with the theological background and critical thinking skills necessary to navigate the ethical and moral dilemmas facing modern society.
5. Practical Ministry and Leadership Skills
The demands of church leadership require more than just theological knowledge. Leaders must also develop practical skills in areas like church management, pastoral care, and organizational leadership. A graduate degree in theology offers training in these areas, helping leaders become more effective in their day-to-day responsibilities.
At Okanagan Bible College, students receive comprehensive leadership training that includes courses on church administration, pastoral counseling, and conflict resolution. This training ensures that graduates are prepared to not only lead spiritually but also manage the practical aspects of running a ministry. The combination of spiritual depth and practical skill is what sets graduate-educated leaders apart.
6. Personal and Spiritual Growth
Perhaps one of the most profound benefits of pursuing a graduate degree in theology is the opportunity for personal and spiritual growth. Engaging deeply with Scripture, theology, and ministry helps leaders cultivate their own faith and deepen their relationship with God.
Graduate programs offer a structured environment for reflection, prayer, and spiritual development. This personal growth is essential for leaders who are called to guide others in their spiritual journeys. Leaders who are continuously growing in their faith are better equipped to inspire and nurture the spiritual lives of their congregants.
At Okanagan Bible College, we prioritize spiritual formation alongside academic excellence. Our graduate programs are designed to foster both intellectual and spiritual growth, ensuring that students leave with a stronger faith and a deeper understanding of their calling.
7. Lifelong Learning and Adaptability
Theological education does not end with graduation. In today’s rapidly changing world, lifelong learning is essential for effective leadership. A graduate degree in theology prepares leaders to continue learning and adapting throughout their ministry careers.
At Okanagan Bible College, we encourage graduates to pursue further education, attend conferences, and engage with ongoing theological debates. This commitment to learning ensures that leaders remain relevant and able to respond to new challenges as they arise.
Conclusion
In a world where Christian leaders are faced with increasingly complex spiritual, ethical, and organizational challenges, a graduate degree in theology is more important than ever. Okanagan Bible College offers programs that provide leaders with the deep theological knowledge, practical skills, and personal growth necessary to navigate these challenges with confidence.
For those called to lead, advanced education is a powerful tool that equips leaders to make a lasting impact on their congregations and communities. If you are ready to take the next step in your leadership journey, consider pursuing a graduate degree at Okanagan Bible College.
