the post-grad unemployment blues have not been helping my annual summer depression, so my brain has been... not great. my lease is up in just a few days, but i can't move into a new apartment until i know where i'll be working. i'm having to put all my shit in storage until i can find something. it's been rough.* but i spent a few days at Books' this week and even though everything sucks, they did a lovely job cheering me up. when i got to theirs, they surprised me with a silly and refreshing beverage i'd previously mentioned in passing that i wanted to try** and this book that they picked up from work.*** then they took me to their campus so we could play board games on the massive group study tables.**** we got dinner at my favorite ethiopian place in the city. we cozied up in bed and double featured they cloned tyrone and the lighthouse (which they hadn't seen before). i finally got to an alamo drafthouse weird wednesday! we saw let the corpses tan,***** after a delightfully nasty late night diner breakfast. we played mario kart and i lost, terribly, but still had fun.
i also had an interview yesterday, for a job that sounds like a great fit for me.****** all of my interviews so far have been strange, for one reason or another, but this one may have been the strangest- because halfway through, the interviewer started pitching me a different position that sounds AMAZING.******* i'd be happy with either. i really hope this works out. i should be having a second interview next week.
i'm back at my apartment now and i have to be out by monday afternoon. i'm glad to be leaving this place, even though things are still so up in the air. and even though i haven't been my best lately, i'm glad to know that i am still loved.
#*i am about to be lower case h homeless but i am very lucky that i have enough support to make it through this without tremendous difficulty#however i might have to go back home which... i do not feel ready for. and i don't want to be away from Books for too long#**i'm in t*xas so there are hardcore topo chico heads and i had never had it before#i didn't care until a friend was talking about how much she hated it bc it was like drinking tv static#***i had already packed my books and only left one fiction book unpacked to read while i'm going thru this and this one is verrrry differen#which is good i need variety!#****everdell is like Our Game and the wee tables in my apt are only just big enough to play on (no room in Books' tiny studio to play it)#and Books also has the spirecrest expansion- but we hadn't gotten to play bc we didn't have the space!#it was so fun to actually do such a big game (it took maybe two hours and the entire six foot table lmao)#(i won but it was close! which usually happens when we play games we're well-matched but not too competitive so it's always a fun challenge#***** LOVED it#******similar to but more intense and challenging than my fav internship rotation. at a cool and pretty unique hospital in a great location#*******full time w benefits and travel. it sounds... SO good for my adhd. lots of novelty and adapting to new situations!

The Dark Lord of Southern Vos
In this, everything still happened. The experiments, the war, his bounty career and some of his relationships. However, when the war ends and things are being rebuilt, some things go back to being the way they were, though most the nobles are dead. Someone found out who Ghost was, and sent him an invite to return to Cybertron to reclaim his title as Lord before his brother did.
Ghostspire does get there before his brother, and does claim his rightful place on the Spirecrest throne. The Spirecrest's were one of the oldest families in Vos, and one family of a group of around 7 that were considered second only to the Winglords family. And with those other families long dead, he had claim over some of there assets. Whatever is left of them.
Including the mountains in the south where predacons reside.
Ghostspire makes a deal with his brother, and they split the houses as best they can between the two of them. Ghostspire agrees to return things as more people of noble linage come, but that doesn't really happen.
Ghostspire doesn't really change much, even with him having as much political power as he does now. He finds it hard to sit idle, and its not rare to see him helping the servants, training with his guard, or even down in the city streets.
His people love him, and aren't all that eager to see him give up any land if that happens. Predacons thrive under his servo, and serval can be seen through out his area of Vos and in his towers.
Ghostspire is still a sparkeater though, and while he doesn't always deal a death punishment, he still needs sustenance. Apart of the deal is that corpses are sent to him, under the guise of feeding them to the predacons while mechanimal levels rise.
In this he does also get his wings back.

Ghostspire, Hunter, Youngest son of the Spirecrest Family
A little bit about Ghostspire, and hopefully a decent description
Ghostspire is a solitary mech by choice. To him, that's safer and easier. Lonely, yes, but he'd rather be lonely than find a corpse of someone he cared about on his floor.
So that's how he travels, alone and often in his ship. He's a very determined mech, and a very patient one. He had steadily been getting his revenge over the course of the war, mixing bounties with his own personal hunts. He's a slow, methodical killer with a habit of hunting mechs like pray.
And if you've heard of it it's never been by his name, nor by G as he tends to call himself. Never really a name, more of a cryptid some saw every now then and spoke rumors of.
He can be a smooth talking flirt, he can be a blackmailing aft.
But he is Ghostspire, unwaveringly loyal and pit-bent on vengeance. Willing to kill for those he cares about and willing to claw his way back from hell.
And he will not rest until he has his revenge...
Though if that means killing, or just getting answers has become unclear.
----
Ghostspire is a tall, gangly mech. He looks like a flight frame, just without the necessary parts for flight.
It should be noted that he looks almost unnaturally slim, like he was being starved, though his armor fits him well enough.
His primary color is black, with gold highlights along the edges of his chassis, middle and arms. The highlights along his legs are more focused to his inner thighs and ankles.
He does not have armor covering his back, so the wing joints and wires are currently exposed. It is difficult to see, however, unless he is actively showing you. A mix of holo-matter and the area being the same black as his frame makes it easier to hide. And finding back armor that's comfortable and and doesn't feel like its suffocating him is difficult.
Along the entirety of his armor are little 'divots' scattered along the entirety. These are little holes that had formed naturally there, and you can see his white biolights from them, giving the illusion of 'stars'.
These holes, and the sound he makes when flying, is the reason his old name was Starfall. Some of these holes can line up to form different constellations if he twists himself in a certain way. Though these biolights are normally dim, and flicker and glow like actual stars.
His claws are almost always fully extended to sharpened talons, having learned how to work around them.
His face is normally covered by either a gold visor, black face mask or both. Without it he has bright golden optics that turn violet when he's either a sparkeater or mixed with violet and gold when he's experiencing extreme negative emotion (fear and rage being the most prominent). On the left side of his face, just under his cheek ridge is a large hole where a pickaxe had been taken to it. The denta are fixed, and show slight signs of deterioration.

Note
The star-themed mech stood straight, swept up wings that gently arched down held high. Servos folded neatly behind his back and face whole. Inwardly nervous but outwardly not saying anything.
"Lord Starfall, second creation of Lady Duskfall and Lord Skyline. Youngest to the Spirecrest family." Noble born and polished to show.
>We know Spirecrest, the old mech murmurs, a servo briefly reaching to pat the flightframe on the shoulder. The elegance, the gilded trappings… such excess. He briefly dims his optic, distracted by the thought of paring this young fool down to reveal the truth inside: this is a vehicle meant to cast off the grip of gravity and hurl itself boldly into the sky, in defiance of all natural law.
Alas. They make them pretty, now.
>You come to see the Evaluator? The Curator? …Moderator? Our other parts will be in assemblage when We are finished with the work of this orn.
>Let Us offer you refreshment.

Board Game 30-Day Challenge Day 24
Day 24: What do you think about expansions? Are there any games that NEED an expansion to be good? Do you recommend any expansions? Should a game be able to stand on its own without expansions?
A game absolutely needs to stand on its own - if it can’t work without an expansion, the original is a failure.
A few expansions I particularly like: Spirecrest for Everdell; Wingspan European; Arts and Architecture for Tapestry; Sunken Treasures for Clank!
I appreciate having expansions that increase the number of players a game can accommodate, but I’d rather have the base game do so to begin with.

Happy New Year!
We had some friends come over in the afternoon where we played Everdell with the Spirecrest expansion - our first time with Spirecrest and we LOVED it, although it took soo long to finish a game that dinner didn't occur until 10pm 😅. Thank goodness we had snacks and Mischa's homemade oliebollen and apple beignets!
We headed out at quarter to midnight and situated ourselves a few streets down where this house went absolutely nuts last year and they didn't disappoint this year either. They had a big group of people gathered in the front yard and two of the dads were the main fireworks-setters - just think of two middle aged men in safety glasses constantly bringing out crates and crates of fireworks and lighting them off. By half past one, I think they were just trying to get rid of everything, and as you can see from the picture on the left, they literally walked around lighting and throwing these fireworks left right and centre 😂. It was a really cool sight!
Rob and I had bought two (legal, don't worry!) fireworks so we also got to actively participate in the festivities. And to make things even better, one of the dads came over with a box of fireworks for us at around one, telling us he needed help getting rid of everything 🤣. Out of our group, Rob and Tobias were definitely the most enthusiastic while the rest of us got a bit tired of the lights, noise, and smell by 2 or so, hahaha.

At long last in our series Board Games I enjoy
Everdell!
There's a reason this game is so well received. For one thing, it's gorgeous. Every component, all the artwork, is just gorgeous. It's a joy to play with.
Secondly, it's got depth. It is not a quick and easy game. Learning to play it takes a bit, and playing it well takes strategy and patience. Personally I think the complexity listed on BGG at 2.81 is too low for the game.
Each player is building their own village of Everdell. You have limited space, limited resources, limited time. As the seasons go on, you have to allocate your resources effectively. In the first season, don't be surprised if you can do almost nothing. There's an element of engine building, which Chris is obnoxiously good at, so it picks up.
It’s one of those games that I enjoy playing even though I almost never win. It can be super frustrating when a strategy doesn’t work, and it helps if you can (like Chris) hold the next ten moves in your head.
There are several expansions, with more coming. My favorite is Spirecrest.

Verse's/Au's Master Post
AU’s/Verses
Humanformers: Grayson Spirecrest is a lawyer for a well known and feared Mafia. A tall, lanky very pale man with long black and white hair up in a braid with golden brown eyes and many, many scars.
Merformers: Mix of a lampray and a stoplight loosejaw. He’s vary wary of humans, and is finless. (If he is human its same as humanformers, he just runs rescue aquariums for injured mers)
TF Prime: He bounces off and on earth, more often that not hired helpp for the decepticons, though he can be bribed to turn a blind optic, either with shanix or the promise of something better.
Destiny 2: (pre-red war) Ghostspire-13 is an old, old Exo guardian. Risen before the wall was built, he traveled throughout the land with his ghost, Sulpher. He’s a hunter with a preference for arc, and tends to steer away from the last city unless he needs to be there either for supplies or to help bring refugees.
Post Red War: Ghost is in the city more often after the red war, helping refugees and survivers find there way, and helping new lights find there way to safety.
Star Wars: A Mandolorian bounty hunter, one of few words and terrifying reputation. He swore to get revenge on those who killed off his clan, and hunts them with little mercy. He’s force sensitive, though doesn’t use it often. He’s a Chiss cyborg, with enhanced senses and strength, though the technology was experimental.

Skyfall, Decepticon Commander, Eldest Brother of the Spirecrest Family
A more in depth about Skyfall, who he is and what he looks like.
Skyfall is a loyal, hard working mech. He ensures that everyone under his command is treated well and fairly, right down to the punishments he gives. The Decepticons are struggling as it stands, and they need everyone in one piece and as functioning as possible. He still holds Decepticon rules and values on high, but gives the dead there proper due to those who need it.
While he's not very high in the chain of command, he is in charge of a decent sized ship full of mechs. Think a little smaller than the Lost Light.
Skyfall does not believe the war is over, and will not act like it until Functionalism is well and truly dead. And if that means laying siege on Cybertron with what Decepticons he finds and can rally then that's fine by him.
For now he floats around space with his crew, taking in injured Decepticons and slowly growing.
He will not stop until Starfall and Dawnstar are avenged and the Decepticons are the seat of power on Cyberton.
With or without Megatron in charge.
--------
Skyfall is a tall seeker, standing at 36 feet. He's not a heavy class flight frame, comparative to grounders he'd be a speed frame. Tall and slim, with thicker outer armor around his chassis, middle and other vital points. He has the same talons as Ghostspire, though his are largely retracted for easier use as a commander. Its hard to turn in data pads with punchter marks in them.
His kibble consists of his wings, one set of large ones angling up with a slight curve to them, and a pair of smaller ones just under those angling down, giving him a slight 'fairy wing' affect.
Each set of wings has three piercings on each, a very old Vosian noble practice. The right wing has three gems of gold, white and black. The left has pastel pink, pastel purple and pastel yellow. One the right lower one is three different gems of yellow, and the right smaller one three gems of red, black and gray (representing his second in command).
He also has a pair of silver lip studs, a glossa piercing, nasal piercing and an optic ridge piercing. He also has many etchings, besides the Decepticon insignia on his chassis.
Under his collar ridge, closer to his spark are the names of his dead trine and their dead new spark. Along his right arm is a swirling pattern and vaguely looks like burning towers if you look close enough.
His primary color is a very bright, sky blue that looks almost identical to the color of Cybertrons daytime sky. Along the outer edges of his armour and tips of his wings are white, and his biolights are a bright golden color. His optics are the same shade of gold as his brothers, but he covers them with a red visor.
Made using Hero Forge. Mostly used for the colors and general idea of him.

Few enter the Ashaanok forest and live to weave tales of the “the trees which wander”. Some would claim the leafless boughs are the many limbs of foul ents born of forbidden witchcraft.
Still others would suggest it is the very bodies of a long lost colony of elves who defied the rise of the city of Spirecrest. It is said that in their grief in the burning of the Mirthel Valley forest, they dedicated themselves entirely to the north woods, both body and soul…
(Lore building from a work in progress.)
—
This has haunted me for well over a year in my WIPs folder and every effort to go back and continue the linework and rendering has ended in deleting all my added layers from the session. It’s a shame too, because it marked what felt like not just a step forward with my capacity, but a departure from my usual body of work which had been feeling as stale as quarantine at the time.
I’d like to revisit it one day, but from scratch rather than continue to agonize over its foundation. Its flawed, but I’m proud of it.
Thank you so much for providing it a proper place to rest.
