Part 2

Michelle's biggest divergence is her family which includes her parents and siblings. This is one reason why she's paired with May Parker as her mentor, because May has parents and a sibling too. Except Michelle's family doesn't know about her being Spider-woman, even though she has a good relationship with them. They worry about her living so far, she sees it as protecting them.

Despite the secrecy, she's very emotionally well adjusted being Spider-woman and its demands on her life. Being able to share the workload with Jessica and Cindy and have reliable allies is the main contributor to her work life balance. 

Michelle has experienced a few canon events, other than being bitten. She has fewer canon events than most spiders because of Jessica and Cindy, her move from her family, and extreme separation of her spider and regular life.

The three Spider-women experienced various spider canon events, as if they split it among themselves.

Michelle has experienced a Captain Stacy event.

Being Spider-woman has also worked out well for Michelle because her husband KNOWS she's spider woman. 

Patrick has been a part of Michelle's life from a young age. After an eternity of will-they or won't-they, they finally became a couple and were eventually married. She told him her identity after he proposed, not wanting it to be an issue in their marriage. While surprised, he takes the news well. He supports her however he can, mostly by moving to New York for her.

They were only able to get together during a time when she experienced a major canon event: she lost her spider powers. After two years of being Spider woman, a significant fight with Electro resulted in power loss when she tried to fight alone. He caught her and tried to stop her heart with multiple electricity strikes.

She barely manages to get away.

"It felt like I was being ripped apart," she whispers to Jessica while shaking. 

Michelle looks at her trembling hands, "I-I can't make it stop."

Jessica takes Michelle's hands between her own, "imagine holding yourself together. We'll be here until you're able."

In the morning, her spider abilities are gone.

At first, she tried working with Doctor Strange and the spider women to regain her powers.

When nothing worked, she scheduled a long return visit to California to be close with her family. Feeling lost, she reached out to childhood friends in order to regain something normal in her life.

Michelle and Patrick started dating after a month, but she regained her powers soon after. She returned to New York and they started dating long distance, which helped keep her spider woman life a secret.

Patrick moves in after the wedding. It's a relief to have someone she can completely be herself with.

Once the spider society recruited her, she left the library and worked at HQ full time. She felt that her universe was protected and in capable hands.

Her explanation to family and friends is that she's working for an organization that requires complete discretion/secrecy. Most people think she works for a government agency.

Her main condition for joining the society was to keep Patrick updated if something happened to her and bring him with her if she moved on site. She refused to keep this a secret from him. Patrick still works a regular job to keep up appearances for their lifestyle. 

Michelle knows she would have the most impact helping younger spiders. After probation, she specialized in helping/mentoring spiders with children who were already developing spider powers like Peter B's Mayday, and spiders younger than 13.

SPIDER-BEAM

Michelle would not be too phased by it. She'd let her husband know the situation so he wouldn't worry about her. She's just sad that she can't cuddle her husband before sleeping.

Her husband also knows that she and the other spiders like to take group naps. It happens usually after a tough mission. Easiest way to wind down with a group you trust.

Though it was never just her and Hobie before. But king size beds are HUGE, so no worries. They grab some clothes to change into, settle in, and Hobie knocks out almost immediately.

SPIDER SISTERS

Yesenia would internally freak out. Is this allowed?! Why is this happening to her?! She'd secretly panic and blush like crazy. She'd try not to move at all during the night and not sleep very well.

If Solana was separated from her sister, she would immediately want to bounce on the bed. A KING SIZE!!

Her and Hobie immediately get into sleepover mode, asking each other random questions like "if you were a candy what would you be?"

They stay up way too late and almost sleep through their retrieval.

40s Yesenia would not be phased at all. She is however, not used to sharing a bed with anyone other than her sister. So while Hobie slowly falls asleep, she stays sitting up, keeping an eye and ear out for anything wrong.

She's a light sleeper. They are in a different dimension, who knows what can happen. She eventually dozes off on his shoulder.

40s Solana immediately puts on a movie, grabs a pillow to her chest, and promptly falls asleep. On top of the covers.

Hobie finds out she talks in her sleep. He totally records the conversation, trying not to laugh.

I'm bored so we're doing another tag game.

Your OC and Hobie are stuck in another dimension for the night and you won't be able to return home until the morning. They both decide to stay in a hotel for the night but gasp

There's only one room left and it has only a single King sized bed.

1. Recruitment

Michelle/Spider-Beam was recruited by Miguel. He was interested in their world since it had multiple spider people in it. She's the only one who says yes.

Yesenia and Solana were also recruited by Miguel. He came soon after their canon event. They feel very shaken after the experience and see him as a lifeline.

1940s Yesenia and Solana said no to their first recruiter, a Peter Parker.

Yesenia was immediately suspicious of the Spider Society. Solana stuck by her sister, but was very curious.

Later, Spider-Punk and Spider-Noir come to their universe for an anomaly, one of Hobie's villains.

Their casual attitude about the society and similar experience/beliefs work better at recruiting them.

2. Position

Michelle is an experienced spider by the time she joins the society. But she's not interested in being "the best" or the "top agent". She's confident in her abilities.

She goes on missions for anomaly experience. She's the main spider who takes care of anomalies in her world.

She sees Miguel regularly about her work.

Yesenia or Solana are new recruits that are currently going through mentoring. Miguel mentors one of them (haven't decided who yet). So they see him often. They want to improve as fast as they can.

40s Yesenia and Solana are also new recruits looking for knowledge, community, and support. They try not to see Miguel often. They're in an unofficial support group for social fighters.

3. Services

Michelle/Spider-Beam first works in the children's department to help out really young kids with spider abilities. She develops toddler/parent classes since it's mostly spider people who end up having children with powers.

Later, Michelle becomes a librarian/personal record collector. She interviews or records any spider who wants to tell their story. It's very different from just the data that Miguel collects. Each spider goes through a lot on their journeys, she doesn't want anyone to be forgotten.

Both spider sisters are still going through mentorship (aka I haven't written anything yet lol). They're still the default for their world's anomalies but can always call for society backup. They'll attend socials and trainings.

4. Relationships

Michelle is close to Web-Slinger (he's a variant of her husband, she finds out), Spider-girl Mayday Parker from Earth 982 (her mentor), and Spider-Punk (she assessed him for mentoring the kids she teaches and goes on missions with him).

Yesenia and Solana are close with Miles, Gwen, Hobie, and Pavitr. They like to train together and hangout.

1940s Yesenia and Solana are close with Spiderman Noir and Spider-Punk. At their first meeting, they went swing dancing together.

5. The Miles Incident

Michelle was at home when the Miles chase happened. When she tried to go to HQ as usual, her watch was blocked.

She gets separate visits from Hobie and Web-Slinger afterward, telling her what happened. She's horrified to hear what has happened since she's a huge advocate for kids in the society.

Both spider sisters were not present for the Miles chase, they had not been recruited yet. Either their world hadn't been contacted/found yet ... or were they being excluded intentionally???

6. Canon Events

Michelle has a few canon events. She was bitten by a radioactive spider, she fell in love and got married, she lost her powers at one point, and then her major canon event happens which upends her entire life and her place in the Spider Society. *To be posted soon

Yesenia and Solana have only been Spider girls for 1 year. Since they've been bit, they've had one major canon event. They lose their dad during a villain fight. He was an inspiration for them wearing the mask, so his death hit them hard.

No canon events written yet for 40s spider sisters.

7. Hate anyone?

Michelle has strong feelings against Miguel. Strike one was Miles. Strike two was about her husband. Strike three is coming up soon.

Spider sisters don't hate anyone. Lol

40s Spider sisters are wary of those in top positions. They've heard of how authoritarian things used to be.

8. Spidersona friends?

Not yet!

Haven't interacted enough with any spidersonas in character or written about yet.

Michelle is interested in meeting spidersonas that are married, from a "real world", or like answering tag games (aka her "interviews").

Yesenia and Solana are both keeping an eye out for spider siblings and anyone from California.

1940s Yesenia and Solana are down for dance parties, meeting spidersonas from other stylized decades, and other types of freedom fighters.

9. Culture Shocks

Michelle isn't shocked when she arrives at Spider Society. Coming from an MCU like world, she's seen magic and very advanced technology. She had an idea of what she was getting into.

Yesenia and Solana are very overwhelmed. There's so much to take in, but they are interested in various assistance programs.

1940s Yesenia and Solana keep to themselves at first. Everything is new to them. They definitely have to take some assimilation and history classes to get adjusted to how different things are in Nueva York.

10. Society hangout?

Michelle goes multiple times every week to HQ when she first joins. She even lived there with her husband for two years. She was a frequent visitor for the remainder of her time there, trying to get to know as many people as she could with her personal narratives project.

Yesenia and Solana go frequently to train and hang out with their friends.

40s Spider sisters come the least often. They'll go for missions and some events. But they prefer to meet friends in their world.

Spider Society 10 Questions!

How was your Spider-Sona recruited to the society? If their was anomaly in their world that they were recruited to; like Gwen, what villain was it? And who came to help?

What is your Spider-Sona’s position in the society? Are they Miguel’s right-hand or are they barely in contact with the guy? Are they the go-to on missions or do they just fight anomalies whenever they show up in their world.

Is there any services or activities that your Spider-Sona gives or uses in the Spider Society? ( I.E Spider-Therapist, etc. )

This is the question I’m sure many of you have been waiting for- who is your Spider-Sona closet to in the Spider Society?

During the Miles and Miguel conflict in ATSV, what side was your Spider-Sona on? If they were present for it at all?

Does your Spider-Sona really have canon events like the others? Or are they atypical? How does this change their connections in the society?

Is there a Spider there that your Spider-Sona REALLY hates in particular?

Is your Spider-Sona friends with other user’s Spider-Sona’s? If so, who?

Did your Spider-Sona experience any culture shocks when coming to the society? Like the futuristic tech or some of the amenities that the other Spiders do or don’t have in their universes?

And lastly, how often are they chilling in the Society? Do they use it as an escape or do they rarely visit?

Spider-Beam Interlude

The Sibling

Previous post

One day during Michelle and Patrick's stay at HQ, with LYLA'S help, Michelle sneaks her younger brother onto base to help out with a music project for Hobie and the spider band. 

Her brother is a musician, as well as a sound and stage technician.

She calls him and says, "You can't ask questions. But it's gonna be a really cool music session. You in?"

"Sure."

Her excuse to him about all the 2D people?

"They're all holograms, really advanced ones."

He doesn't question it and proceeds to have an amazing recording session.

After demonstrating his ability to work with futuristic tech ("It's kinda intuitive and not that hard to figure out," her brother said.) and keep a secret, Miguel offers to Michelle to bring him onboard as The Guy in the Chair to work alongside LYLA. LYLA recommended him.

After debating it for a while, she offers him a choice.

"Here's your red pill, blue pill moment. It's a job offer, so you'll find out what I do. If you decide not to after you find out, you'll go home with no memory of this."

"You're spider woman."

"HOW DID YOU KNOW?!"

"I'm your brother."

"OMG."

He accepts and travels between home and HQ for work, receiving his own special watch. 

Michelle gives him his codename: Bro.

He gets notified when someone says out loud, "Hey, Bro" to their gizmo.

Patrick hangs out with her brother a lot during work hours, happy to have another non-spider person and someone he knows around.

Michelle/Spider-Beam

Michelle's life would have gone on as normal, but something would be missing.

She would have stayed in New York after university.

If she was never Spider-woman, she would not have had a reason to go home long enough to fall in love and marry her husband. Michelle and Patrick would stay on opposite coasts and just remember each other as their teenage crushes.

She would watch the other spider-women swing across the city and ignore the feeling of longing in her.

She's lonely, so she throws herself in her work. As a children's librarian, she does her best to make things better for them, give them a moment of escape. It's rough when terrible things are constantly happening in New York. She hopes it makes a difference.

Yesenia and Solana

Without their powers, Yesenia and Solana are not as close with each other.

Despite being homeschooled together, the sisters would go off in different directions.

Yesenia would stay at home for university but take a year abroad. Solana would also go to the same university, but leave home for internships. Different programs and schedules mean they see each other less often than they used to.

Los Angeles would become a very dangerous place to be. With no one around to challenge them, many villains make LA their new home. There's plenty of villains to keep New York's heroes busy, they don't have any to spare.

Yesenia and Solana, along with their mom, are happy to leave LA to its fate. There's only sad memories there anyway.

1940s Yesenia and Solana

The 40s spider sisters would probably be dead or in jail if they never got their powers. Yesenia and Solana are on the front lines of protests and riots. They're not getting special treatment from the police or armed forces. Without powers, they are vulnerable.

If they did make it, they would grow to be powerful voices for the Chicano movement, but more in the realm of farm workers with their father and advocates for Chicano education.

They'd probably become teachers to help enact changes in education.

There's a lot going on in their world, but they're doing what they can to make it better.
