thank you for giving me a chance to talk about my one of FAVORITE type of marine animals! JAPANESE SPIDER CRABS!

THESE GUYS!! OUGH I LOVE THEM!

The Japanese spider crab (Macrocheira kaempferi) is a species of marine crab that lives in the waters of.. you guessed it.. Japan!

They have the largest leg span of any animal in the species Arthropoda (reaching up to 3.7 meters, or 12.1 Feet!) , going through three whole larval stages just to get to their gigantic size!

The actual body can only grow up to 40cm or 16 inches, but the whole crab can weigh up to 19KG or 42LB.

The males pinchers are usually bigger than the females. （；へ：）

They are usually orange, with white spots across the legs!

Frank, what is your opinion on Japanese spider crabs? What are Japanese spider crabs?

I've never seen one, and I'm not sure if they even exist?

There are at least some people in the "spider crabs are a false rumor" faction, although it's a small faction
