SKINCARE favorites during WINTER season guide
It’s cold out and it’s been a freezing weather change recently in New York. While I bundle up and layer up even more layers, and put a hat or a hood on and a scarf and gloves. I can’t help but wonder how my face and hands are doing. Braving the walks in the city is hard enough, but dealing with dry skin after the walk – I’d rather not. Here are some of my favorite tried and true winter helpers…

Why has skincare got to be so… much
#it’s a bazillion tiny potions and i feel so lost. like jesus christ#i swear they’re making things up and then charging £1+ per millilitre of product#i took quizzes on 3 different websites and told them the same things and they recommended me totally different products what does it mean#what does it all mean#honestly i might just stick with my current 3 step routine. my skin seems to like it#i was doing like 6 steps but i had to accept that a couple of the serums were irritating my skin. ESPECIALLY the retinol one#so now i’m down to: cleansing (w/ inkey list oat cleansing balm which i’ve been using for ages & have never had a problem with)#the ordinary barrier support serum (just started using this but genuinely it feels so nice. i really like it)#and then i just do lush celestial moisturiser#i do also have the fenty hydra vizor for an option with spf but to be honest it irritates my skin a bit so i’m thinking#about trying inkey list’s spf. my skin is bizarrely chill with polyglutamic acid so it should be fine#i think i might switch from lush celestial when i use up my current tub also. i do really love it but £22 for 45ml is a little bit wild#i think inkey’s omega water cream is £15 for twice as much product#i did get the mini of hydra vizor so that’s not a complete loss#christ. i did want to try typology but they’re SO expensive i about died. yes they have tinted serums but at what cost? ALL MY MONEY#god i wish i still had my 22 year old skin that looked fantastic after being washed with bar soap and moisturised with a fucking body lotion#like once every three days. but alas i am almost 29 and i look like a bus hit me if i don’t baby my skin. it’s so cursed#personal#i Know i shouldn’t care but literally in my mid 20s i went from people being surprised i was old enough to drink#to people being surprised i wasn’t in my 30s yet. practically overnight#i know the pandemic + my various dependencies did a number on me and i also started going prematurely grey but jesus#developing arthritis at 27 cannot possibly have helped either i’ll be honest

Big Skincare doesn’t want u to know this but the best PM routine is wash face w 5 drops of jojoba oil then manuka honey then rinse 3 times then 3 more drops jojoba pat into skin- that’s it baby. The best AM routine is splash w water, mineral sunscreen. “Active” skincare did nothing but give me more issues to fix w more (expensive) actives until I got freaking dermatitis!!

Live Tinted Hueguard 3-1 Mineral Sunscreen Review
Trying to find a sunscreen that I actually like wearing has been quite a daunting task. There are so many products on the market with different formulations and price points, that choosing a product that agrees with my overly sensitive, acne-prone skin has become a longer journey than I would’ve liked. Don’t get me wrong, a few gems are floating around in the K-Beauty market like the NeoGen…

person in the notes of that sunscreen poll was like “are people so afraid of aging that they wear sunscreen indoors??” lol no i just don’t want skin cancer. that is in fact the main reason why sunscreen is recommended for use. also the rays from the sun that can cause skin cancer can in fact penetrate through glass. 😭 wear spf

What Does SPF 50 Mean?
Tumblr media
Sun Protection Factor, measures how well a tinted sunscreen protects against UVB rays (B = burn, aka the rays that burn)*. When a number is added in front of SPF, it represents how much of the UVB rays reach your skin.
So, for SPF 50, only 1/50th (or 2%) of UVB rays reach your skin when properly applied. Of course, swimming, sweating or improper application and other real-world factors reduce the effectiveness of the sunscreen.
Now, what about SPF 30? Or even SPF 60? Well, SPF 30 blocks 96.7% of UVB rays where SPF 60 goes to 98.3% (remember, SPF 50 protects up to 98%)
In our books, anything above SPF 40 (97.5% protection) is good enough for daily wear and most skin types. However, exceptions always exist. For now, let’s talk more about Sunscreen SPF 50. This rating will only help you not burn, but what about premature aging and deeper skin damage?
Enter UVA rays (A= aging, aka the rays that cause premature aging)* protection. That’s why you would hear the term ‘broad spectrum sunscreen’ thrown around when shopping for SPFs. The good sunscreens protect you from both UVA & UVB rays and if they’re EXTRA SPECIAL? They even protect you from blue-rays from our devices like Uniqaya’s Tinted Sunscreen SPF 50 PA+++
Oh and it’s tinted too! Like seriously, it doesn’t get any better.
*UVA, A = Aging & UVB, B = Burn are just to make these two spectrums easier to understand and do not actually mean so.

How Hyaluronic Acid Sunscreen Works to Keep Your Skin Hydrated All Day
Tumblr media
If you’ve ever struggled with sunscreen that leaves your skin feeling dry or sticky, hyaluronic acid sunscreen might just be your new skincare hero. Combining the protective benefits of sunscreen with the intense hydration of hyaluronic acid, this innovative formula keeps your skin healthy, glowing, and comfortable all day long.Hyaluronic acid is a powerhouse ingredient known for its ability to attract and retain moisture—up to 1,000 times its weight in water! When infused into sunscreen, it forms a protective layer on your skin that locks in hydration while shielding it from harmful UV rays. This means your skin stays plump and moisturized, even during long hours in the sun. What makes it even better is its lightweight, non-greasy texture. Unlike traditional sunscreens that can feel heavy, hyaluronic acid sunscreen absorbs quickly and feels breathable on your skin. It’s perfect for all skin types, especially dry or sensitive skin, as it helps prevent dehydration and soothes irritation. With sunscreen with hyaluronic acid, you don’t have to choose between sun protection and hydration. It’s the ultimate multitasker, keeping your skin safe from UV damage while delivering a boost of moisture that lasts all day. Say hello to healthy, happy skin.
