08/12/24 - Lago Vista, TX - BEEN THERE - Most of the time, when you walk into our living room, you’ll see a partially completed puzzle on the big white marble coffee table. Today, we get to see a newly completed puzzle depicting Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria, Germany. This is the castle that after Walt Disney visited it in the 1950’s, inspired the Disney Castle, the centerpiece of the Walt Disney logo that you see at the beginning of all their movies and shows. We took a tour of this castle back in 2015 and as you can imagine, took lots of pics. Regretfully, it was a cloudy dreary gray day in early summer and the pics we took pale in comparison to this one taken on a bright sunny day with spectacular fall colors in the foreground and a bright blue lake in the background. Still, this completed puzzle brings back some great memories of how fortunate we were to have had the opportunity to visit such an iconic place. If you get the chance to visit, it’s very much worth the time. Hopefully, you’ll get better weather than we did.

Echinopsis 'Flying Saucer'
This beautiful hybrid cactus was created by the late Hans Britsch, of Vista, California. There are many such spectacular hybrids in a wide array of colors, stemming from hybridizing involving Trichocereus, Lobivia, Echinopsis and Soehrensia. For a time, all these groups were combined into a huge concept of Echinopsis, so of course the hybrids were called "Echinopsis hybrids". But now that most people favor reinstating the old genera, it is harder to know what to call them. Often, one is not even sure which genera are present in their lineage. So the easiest thing is to continue to call them Echinopsis hybrids, even if they might actually be a cross between a Lobivia and a Soehrensia, or some other combination.

Shadows of the Heart
Part 6
Azriel x Fem!Reader
Summary: After years apart, Y/n returns to Velaris, bearing the weight of sacrifice and secrets from her past. Reunited with Rhysand and his Inner Circle, she navigates the complexities of rekindled friendships and unresolved tensions.
WC: 3.6k
Warnings: mentions of wounds hurting, but nothing particularly graphic but it is located on the arm.
[Prologue], [Part 1], [Part 2], [Part 3], [Part 4], [Part 5]
Tumblr media
The House of Wind, perched high above the glittering city of Velaris, offered a view that could steal the breath from the lungs of gods and fae alike. Yet, the sight of the ten thousand stairs winding down to the city dimmed the splendor of the vista before Y/n. Memories of youthful races with Rhys and his sister, of nights spent laughing under the stars until they were too intoxicated to winnow home, brought a nostalgic smile to her lips. There was a particular memory, hazed with the fog of drunken mirth, of them staggering up these very stairs, each step a battle against gravity and their swirling heads, pausing periodically to empty their stomachs into the bushes that edged the ascent.
She considered, not for the first time, leveraging those memories to coax Rhys—or even Mor—into assisting her down, no questions asked.
Cassian, too, would have offered a lift without a second thought, especially after her rigorous training session with the Valkyries that morning. But admitting, even silently, that she couldn't manage on her own was a concession Y/n wasn't ready to make. Not after her display of strength and defiance the day before. Her pride, stubborn and fierce, whispered warnings that Rhys and Mor would see right through her, and Cassian...well, Cassian might not connect the dots immediately, but word would spread.
Biting her lip, Y/n weighed her options. It was only ten thousand steps. She wasn't so frail, so weary, that the descent seemed insurmountable—though the unhealed cut on her arm begged to differ. She had concealed it beneath thin bindings and a long-sleeved blouse of pale blue, cropped at the waist and chosen in the hopes it wouldn't appear too out of place on such a warm, sun-kissed day.
"Are you headed to town?"
Y/n looked behind, half-expecting to find Azriel clad in his typical leathers, silently admonishing herself for letting him surprise her once more. Instead, she found herself caught off-guard by the casual attire he donned—a black pair of pants and a navy shirt loosely tucked in, revealing a hint of his Illyrian tattoos at the v-neck. Her gaze lingered a moment too long, tracing the intricate designs across his skin and the way his shirt clung to the contours of his well-defined chest.
Azriel's smirk, a rare break in his stoic facade, acknowledged her wandering gaze. Before the silence stretched too thin, he offered, "Would you like a ride?"
The question hung between them, weighted with unspoken implications. Y/n turned back to the stairs, the vast descent looming before her.
"Y/n?" His call, soft yet insistent, pulled her back from the edge of her thoughts.
He had stepped closer, almost as if drawn by her hesitation.
"No...I mean, no thank you, Azriel,"
At the uncertainty in his gaze, she felt the need to elaborate, “I wouldn’t want to hold you up, I’ll go myself just
a bit later”
Her excuse sounded thin even to her ears, yet Azriel's offer remained, undeterred by her wavering resolve. "It would be my pleasure to escort you. They say the view is even more spectacular by air."
Y/n seized the opportunity, masking her relief with a playful curiosity. "They?"
Azriel's cheeks tinged with red, his words stumbling over themselves. "You know, Mor, Nesta, Elai—" His voice faltered, a rare display of vulnerability.
"Very well," Y/n conceded, allowing him a graceful escape from his flustered explanation. "I wouldn't want to be late for our meeting. And, I suppose it's been ages since I've seen Velaris from above. Only if it's no bother to you."
"No, it's no bother at all," Azriel assured her, his words tumbling out with an eagerness he couldn't mask.
Y/n positioned herself, lifting her arms in readiness. Azriel's touch was gentle yet firm as he lifted her, a care in his hold that sent an unexpected warmth flooding through her. She wrapped her arms around his neck, resisting the urge to draw closer, to seek comfort in the strength of his embrace.
Instead, her eyes traced the tattoos she had glimpsed before, a silent admiration for the art that marked his skin. Around them, Azriel's shadows danced with a life of their own, keeping her secure and holding her hair from flailing in the wind.
In the silence that enveloped them, Y/n could discern the faint, rapid beating of Azriel's heart, its rhythm slightly too hurried for an Illyrian warrior on a leisurely flight. But Y/n kept her thoughts to herself, knowing that her heart was perhaps skipping as well.
Tumblr media
Upon reaching the bustling heart of the town, Azriel gently descended, allowing Y/n to stand on her own. His arms reluctantly released her, a sense of loss washing over him as the warmth of her presence receded.
"Thanks for the ride, Azriel," her gratitude lit up her features with a warm smile.
"It was my pleasure," he managed to reply, his voice steadier than his racing heart.
Seizing the moment before doubt could diminish his resolve, he found himself suggesting, "If you'd like, I could show you around as well... around Velaris and its newer sights, after you're done with your errands, of course."
Y/n paused, her gaze sweeping over the town's lively expanse before settling back on him. "I'd like that," she agreed, a softness in her voice that coaxed a hopeful glimmer in Azriel's eyes.
"It's been so long since I've seen Velaris, I’ll meet you back here in an hour?”
As she stepped away, Azriel realized then, with startling clarity, that he had no actual business in the town. Yet, the prospect of spending more time with Y/n, of reintroducing her home seemed like the most significant task of all.
He should use this period to plan. To think about the places in Velaris that would spark interest in her eyes, the hidden corners and new developments he'd watched over from the shadows. It wasn't just about filling the time; it was about crafting moments that might bridge the gap between them.
As he lingered in thought, Azriel's attention was momentarily drawn to his shadows, which had, unbeknownst to him, begun to reach out towards Y/n's departing figure, specifically curling towards her left arm. With a subtle command, he reeled them back, a silent acknowledgment of her right to privacy. Despite his longing for closeness, he respected the boundaries between them, even those unseen.
Tumblr media
Y/n was ashamed to admit it, but she double-checked every reflection she saw, cautious of any lurking shadows. The idea of anyone, particularly Azriel, tracing her steps to this particular location filled her with unease. Besides, she was embarrassed at the several missed turns it took before she finally arrived at her destination. Velaris had indeed changed; the streets still boasted their characteristic cobblestone pathways and white marble houses with green roofs. Yet, the atmosphere was distinctly different—teeming with fae from all corners of Prythian. It was a strange notion, to feel like a stranger in the land she had once called her home.
This sandstone building, however, was unchanged, just as she remembered it from all those years ago, tucked away in a nondescript corner. The walls were still lined with shelves that reached up to the high ceilings, each crammed with jars and bottles of varying shapes and sizes, filled with mixtures of different herbs. In the center of the room, cozy couches were draped with handwoven throws inviting patrons to sit and bask in the tranquility of the space. The soft glow of lanterns cast a gentle light, already comforting her tense nerves.
“Just a moment!” she heard stepping in, before being greeted by a High Fae woman with dark skin, spindrift hair now touched with grey, and brown eyes that still sparkled with an inner warmth, despite the new wrinkles framing them.
The shock of recognition was mutual. “Y/n?” the woman exclaimed.
“Madja! It’s been too long,” Y/n said, moving in for a hug.
They embraced warmly before Madja pulled back, eyeing her with a mix of suspicion and affection. “It’s never been good when you’ve entered this store,” she remarked, an eyebrow arched in playful admonition.
Y/n laughed, the sound mingling with a sense of nostalgia. “Rhys and I weren't that bad, were we?” she quipped, attempting to deflect.
“Oh no,” Madja shot back with a smile, “You both were absolutely terrible.” Her tone softened, betraying the fondness behind her words.
Memories of past injuries, ranging from the ridiculous outcomes of foolish dares to the more serious wounds acquired during brutal training sessions, flashed through Y/n’s mind. She nodded, conceding the point. “But you were always there for us,” she said, gratitude lacing her voice.
"Yes, always there—mostly wondering which of you would walk in next, and whether I'd need a broom or a stretcher."
Then Madja’s expression turned more serious. “How can I help you today, Y/n?”
Fidgeting, Y/n glanced around the shop before responding. “I’m just here to look at some herbs...” Her voice trailed off, unconvincing even to her own ears.
Madja’s gaze narrowed slightly, but not unkindly. “Planning to brew your own tonic, are we?” she teased before adding, “If you need something for sleep or pain, I can prepare it for you. Discreetly, of course.”
Caught off guard, Y/n hesitated, then muttered something about merely experimenting in her free time. However, to divert Madja’s prying eyes, she offered a truth and quickly agreed to the offer of a sleep tonic. “Yes, that...my insomnia has been relentless lately.”
Madja nodded, her expression softening into one of understanding. “I’ll prepare something for you. No one needs to know,” she assured.
While Madja busied herself, Y/n’s gaze wandered across the shelves, laden with jars of herbs, vials of potions, and artifacts of healing and magic, feeling a bit overwhelmed. She’d never admit it out loud, but her alchemy and potions for healing weren’t particularly up to par. For poison, well she already clocked 5 different ones she could create from the herbs she’d be able to identify thus far.
But for healing, and particularly for a wound that she’d not thought twice about before, with her magic and fae heritage naturally taking care of it; she realized then that she should have made a stop at a bookstore or visited the library this morning.
By the time she had gathered the herbs she hoped would do, Madja returned, handing Y/n a small, unmarked vial.
“Take two drops before bed,” she instructed, her voice low. “And Y/n,” she added, her eyes meeting the sorceress's, “whatever you’re facing, remember you’re not alone. Velaris isn’t just a city; it’s home.
Y/n’s heart clenched at the sincerity in Madja’s words. “Thank you, Madja,” she said, her voice thick with gratitude. She paid for the tonic and her bundle, seeing Madja’s impartial glance as a sign that she hadn’t chosen anything too offputting.
Stepping out of the shop, Y/n took a deep breath, the air of Velaris filling her lungs, mingling with the scents of the river and the blooming night flowers. The city might have changed, but its essence, the heart of it, remained the same—a haven for the lost, the brave, and those in need of healing.
Tumblr media
As the agreed time approached, Azriel's gaze was constantly drawn towards the path Y/n would emerge from. The anticipation had woven a tapestry of nerves and excitement within him, a feeling unfamiliar yet thrilling. His shadows, ever-present companions, danced around him with an energy that mirrored his own. When they alerted him to her presence, a wave of something akin to relief washed over him.
She was making her way towards him, her steps confident, yet he noticed something different—a bag clutched in her hand, an addition to her ensemble.
Curiosity piqued, Azriel couldn't help but ask about the bag as soon as greetings were exchanged. "What's in the bag? If you don't mind me asking," he inquired, his tone light, trying to mask the depth of his curiosity and concern.
Y/n glanced down at the bag, a playful smirk dancing on her lips. "Oh, just some cosmetics," she joked, her voice laced with humor. "I felt my complexion still looks very pallid. Thought I might need a touch-up if I continue to stay in the illustrious night court."
Azriel, taken aback by her answer yet finding it endearing, responded without hesitation, his voice sincere. "You look beautiful, Y/n. You don't need anything more for that."
The moment the words left his mouth, a warm flush of embarrassment colored his cheeks, mirroring the blush that bloomed on Y/n's face. Azriel couldn’t help but feel pleased with her reaction, though he tried to ignore how he longed to see where else that rosy hue would appear.
Seeking to recover from the moment, Azriel cleared his throat softly, gesturing towards the city. "Shall we begin our tour? Velaris has much to offer, and I'd like to show you everything I've planned."
Y/n nodded, her smile bright, the earlier blush still present but accompanied now by a look of genuine happiness. "I'd love that, Azriel. Lead the way."
As they ventured into the heart of Velaris, Azriel found himself sharing stories and lore of the city, each tale carefully chosen to entertain or spark curiosity in Y/n. He noticed how her eyes lit up with each new sight, her laughter more melodious to his ears than any music. It was as if, with her by his side, Velaris transformed into an even more magical place, its beauty magnified through her presence.
“It’s said that this fountain,” Azriel gestured to an ornate structure, water dancing under the sun’s fading glow, “was built by a high lord as a tribute to his mate’s beauty, which he believed surpassed even that of the Night Court’s stars.”
Y/n’s laughter, light and infectious, filled the air. “A high bar for beauty,” she remarked, her gaze lingering on the play of light over water. “Do you think such comparisons are fair, comparing someone to the stars?”
Azriel found himself caught in the depth of her gaze, her curiosity igniting his own. “Perhaps not fair, but it speaks to the beholder's awe. Don’t we all aspire to find a love like that, where the connection is so intense, that it could rival the stars?
But just as their souls seemed on the verge of whispering secrets only the heart could hear, the boisterous cry of a vendor shattered the stillness.
"Delicacies of the night! Taste the wonders of Velaris!" His voice, loud and full of life, tore through the tender veil of connection they had cocooned themselves within.
In an instant, the world rushed back in—a flood of sounds and lights, washing away the moment of intense closeness they had found. They were left adrift, surrounded by the vibrant chaos of the night market, the poignant ache of a moment lost too soon lingering in the air between them.
The day gave way to evening almost without notice, hours spent in exploration and shared discovery.
Azriel led her through the vibrant heart of Velaris, showcasing the city's architectural marvels—the four Palaces. They spent the most time at the Palace of Thread and Jewels, a bustling market square alive with the hum of creative energy. Here, amidst stalls adorned with fabrics that whispered tales of distant lands and jewelry that sparkled with the promise of untold stories, Y/n came alive in a way Azriel hadn't seen before.
He watched, fascinated, as she engaged with the vendors, her knowledge of gems and textiles flowing effortlessly, her eyes lighting up with each piece she examined. Her hands, graceful and assured, would trace the lines of cloth, her touch eliciting stories from silk and satin alike.
In one of those quiet moments, shared over a stall draped in velvets and brocades, Y/n turned to Azriel, a softness in her eyes. "When I was much younger," she confessed, "I dreamt of being a fashion designer. I wanted to create clothes that weren't just worn but experienced—garments that would steal the breath from those who beheld them."
Azriel's gaze softened as he listened, the ambient noises of the marketplace fading into the background. "That's a beautiful dream," he responded, his voice low and thoughtful. "The clothes we wear can speak volumes, tell stories, and even protect us. Your designs could have done all that and more, I believe."
She laughed, a sound that mingled with the evening air, rich and full of possibilities. "Maybe in another life, Azriel. For now, I'm content with my path, though it's nice to dream a little."
As they continued to explore the stalls, Azriel couldn't help but see the market—and Y/n—in a new light. Every thread, every jewel, seemed to hold a piece of the dream she had shared with him. And in that moment, he made a silent vow to himself to support her dreams, in whatever form they might take, hoping that they could come true with him at her side.
Tumblr media
As the gallery’s doors closed behind them, Azriel realized the day had slipped away into the evening, the sky a canvas of deep blues and purples. “You must be hungry after our day,” he said, the thought striking him with sudden concern. “Would you join me for dinner?”
The smile Y/n offered in response, wide and genuine, set his heart racing. “I’d love to, Azriel. Thank you.”
Choosing a quaint restaurant known for its exquisite cuisine and intimate ambiance, Azriel had such joy when she accepted his invitation. However, as they approached the entrance, he reached out to gently guide her by the arm, a gesture meant to be polite. To his surprise, she recoiled—a flash of discomfort shadowing her features.
Throughout dinner, Azriel couldn’t shake off the feeling that he had overstepped, his mind replaying the moment she flinched. Despite the array of dishes that graced their table, she barely touched her food, her usual spark dimmed to a quiet reserve.
“Y/n, if I did something earlier to upset you, I apologize. It wasn’t my intention,” he ventured, hoping to bridge the silence that had settled between them.
Y/n shook her head, offering a small smile. “No, Azriel, you didn’t do anything wrong. I’m just not very hungry tonight, that’s all.”
Despite her reassurance, Azriel couldn’t help but feel a gnawing insecurity for the rest of the evening, wondering what unseen barriers still lay between them. The night that had started with laughter and shared secrets now seemed cloaked in a quiet tension, and Azriel found himself wishing for the ability to read her thoughts, to understand her silence.
As they stepped out of the restaurant into the velvet night, the streets of Velaris were bathed in the soft glow of starlight and lamplights, casting ethereal shadows around them. Azriel, still filled with guilt from the earlier incident, searched for words to lighten the mood and make amends. He longed to suggest they fly back, to offer her the breathtaking views of Velaris by night from the sanctuary of his arms. Yet, the memory of her recoiling from his touch echoed loudly in his mind, a reminder of the boundaries he feared to overstep again.
With a heavy heart, he proposed instead to winnow them back, a quicker, less intimate mode of travel. "We can winnow back, but it's a bit of a drop—we'll land on the balcony. I'll need to hold you for just a moment to manage the descent," he explained, trying to mask his disappointment.
Y/n, fiddling with her bag, offered a small nod, her voice quiet.
"That's fine. I'll just hold onto your arm. I should be okay with the drop," she replied, the simplicity of the arrangement failing to hide the distance it imposed.
As they landed with soft thuds on the balcony, Azriel couldn't help but notice how the moonlight painted Y/n's features, highlighting her beauty yet highlighting her pallor. She thanked him, her voice a whisper against the night, as she turned to leave. The urge to reach out, to bridge the space between them with a touch, surged within him, but he halted, his fingers hovering mere breaths away from her shoulder. "I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable earlier," he found himself saying again, the words heavy with unspoken feelings.
Y/n shook her head, a gesture of dismissal or perhaps forgiveness, Azriel couldn't tell. "I'm just tired, that's all. The day finally caught up to me," she offered, her voice carrying a fatigue that went beyond the physical.
The silence that followed was filled with things unsaid, with Azriel's silent plea for understanding and Y/n's unspoken reassurances. When he hesitantly asked if she was still alright with him assisting her with her research, she nodded, her agreement to meet at the library the next day offering a glimmer of hope, a possibility of redemption.
As she retreated into the night, leaving Azriel alone with his thoughts on the balcony, he watched her go with a sense of loss.

The Tadpole Galaxy from Hubble Image Credit: Hubble Legacy Archive, ESA, NASA; Processing: Harshwardhan Pathak
Explanation: Why does this galaxy have such a long tail? In this stunning vista, based on image data from the Hubble Legacy Archive, distant galaxies form a dramatic backdrop for disrupted spiral galaxy Arp 188, the Tadpole Galaxy. The cosmic tadpole is a mere 420 million light-years distant toward the northern constellation of the Dragon (Draco). Its eye-catching tail is about 280 thousand light-years long and features massive, bright blue star clusters. One story goes that a more compact intruder galaxy crossed in front of Arp 188 - from right to left in this view - and was slung around behind the Tadpole by their gravitational attraction. During the close encounter, tidal forces drew out the spiral galaxy's stars, gas, and dust forming the spectacular tail. The intruder galaxy itself, estimated to lie about 300 thousand light-years behind the Tadpole, can be seen through foreground spiral arms at the upper right. Following its terrestrial namesake, the Tadpole Galaxy will likely lose its tail as it grows older, the tail's star clusters forming smaller satellites of the large spiral galaxy.

Cloaked Proposal - Pezzy x Reader
Summary: Pezzy has Storytime after he was caught wearing an engagement ring
Tw: Traveling, engagement, storytime, lmk if i missed anything
Tumblr media
Pezzyfan1: wait guys, have you realized he has been wearing a gold band on in ring finger?!
Pezzyfan2: IS THIS MAN MARRIED?!
Pezzyfan3: DID HE FINALLY POP THE QUESTION TO OUR PRETTY MAMA MOD
Pezzyfan1: OMG HE DID LOOK AT HIS SMIRK
“Okay, okay guys calm down.” Pezzy spoke as he started seeing chat going crazy with happiness or wildness. “Storytime! But yes, I did propose to __ or as y'all refer to her as mama mod.” He said with excitement to yap and get the story out and into the universe.
“Alright, alright calm down or no Storytime. So, y'all know that I took about a week off right to go to Canada to see Smii7y?” He questioned as he was waiting for some type of response from chat.
Tumblr media
In the picturesque land of Nova Scotia, Canada, the sun began its descent, bathing the stunning Skyline Trail in a golden hue, casting long shadows over the lush greenery and the striking views of the bay. It was the end of summer, and a gentle breeze whispered through the trees, carrying the sweet scent of pine and adventure.
__ and Pezzy had been together for four wonderful years—four years filled with laughter, shared dreams, and a love that had only deepened with time. They had faced challenges together, celebrated milestones, and created countless memories—each moment woven into the beautiful tapestry of their relationship. But as they explored the untamed wilderness of Nova Scotia, Pezzy felt an undeniable urge to take their bond to the next level.
What Pezzy had cleverly disguised as a casual hangout with his friend Smii7y turned into a carefully orchestrated proposal that had been months in the making. He had enlisted his friend to help him bring his vision to life, using their mutual interest in creative content to execute the perfect ruse.
As they strolled through the breathtaking trail, surrounded by lush forests and overlooking dramatic cliffs, Pezzy feigned casual conversation about the spectacular views, hoping to keep his girlfriend unaware of the surprise that awaited her. Smii7y, ever the entertainer, started filming the moment, capturing the beauty of nature while creating the perfect backdrop for what was to come.
As they reached the apex of the trail, the three of them paused to take in the panoramic vista. The sun hovered just above the horizon, splashing vibrant oranges and purples across the sky. Pezzy's heart raced. He turned to Smii7y, who nodded reassuringly, giving the cue to switch from a friendly outing to the moment he had anticipated.
“Hey, can you get a shot of us with the sunset in the background?” Pezzy asked casually, unable to hide the excitement in his voice.
Smii7y complied, suggesting they gather a bit closer to the edge where the view was simply breathtaking. As they stood side by side, Pezzy exchanged furtive glances with Smii7y, who discreetly began recording. It was time.
Suddenly, Pezzy turned to ___, taking her hands gently in his. The playful smile on his face shifted to a serious expression as he spoke, his voice steady yet filled with emotion.
"You know how we’ve always talked about our dream future together? How has this journey been one of the best parts of my life?" He paused, allowing the weight of his words to sink in against the serene backdrop.
Her eyes sparkled with curiosity, her heart racing as she noticed a shift in the atmosphere, the gravity of his expression piercing through the playful veil of their day.
"Pezzy, what is it?" she asked softly.
With a deep breath, Pezzy dropped to one knee, revealing a small velvet box that held the remaining last ring to complete her tri-ring set as it glinted in the warm afternoon glow. "I want to share my life with you, today and always. Will you marry me?"
Time stood still. The wind seemed to hush, the earth paused its rotation as her eyes widened in disbelief. She looked from the ring to Pezzy’s hopeful face, realization dawning upon her. “Oh my God, yes! Yes, a million times yes!”
The joyous laughter that erupted from her lips mixed with happy tears as Pezzy slipped the ring onto her finger. Smii7y, capturing the magical moment, cheered and offered his heartfelt congratulations. They embraced, surrounded by the breathtaking landscape, echoing their love through laughter and tears against the backdrop of the setting sun.
Tumblr media
“-That is how we hid our engagement and how we tricked ___ into saying yes.” Pezzy finished with a dramatic flair, a smirk playing on his lips as he recounted the whimsical tale to his audience in the chat. His humor resonated against the soft glow of his webcam, engaging everyone who had tuned in to the storytime session.
Pezzyfan4: Can we see the ring set?
Pezzy’s expression shifted from playful amusement to mild confusion. “Oh yeah, she’s home right now! Let me see if I can go get her,” he said, his brow furrowing momentarily as he realized he hadn’t thought that part through.
With a quick glance off-camera, Pezzy called out, “Hey, babe! Can you come here for a sec?” His voice was casual, but inside, he felt a flutter of nerves and excitement, reminiscent of the day he proposed.
Moments later, she appeared at the door, curiosity sparkling in her eyes, and a smile brightening her face. “What’s up?” she asked, tilting her head, her hair cascading down past her shoulders like a waterfall.
“Everyone wants to see your ring!” Pezzy announced, motioning dramatically toward the chat. “Can you show it off?”
Her cheeks flushed with surprise, yet she beamed, stepping closer to the camera. “Oh, really? I didn’t think anyone wanted to see it!” She held out her hand, and the camera zoomed in, capturing the delicate sparkle of the engagement ring that had captured Pezzy’s heart in so many ways.
“It’s even more stunning in person,” she said, her voice soft but filled with newfound pride. “Honestly, Pezzy did such a good job choosing this—he knows my style perfectly.”
Pezzy shifted in his seat, glancing down and avoiding her gaze. “Well, actually, I forgot to tell you something about your rings
” he said, a hint of mischief in his voice, like a scolded child trying to muster the courage to reveal his secret.
“Oh? What’s up?” she replied, tilting her head slightly, her curiosity piqued.
“Do you remember how your Nona had a special ring picked out for everyone, but for some reason, no one could find yours?” Pezzy asked, carefully treading into delicate territory, not wanting to bring back any uncomfortable memories.
“Hmmm,” she hummed thoughtfully, reminiscing about her beloved grandmother and the family tradition that had always brought warmth to their gatherings.
Pezzy took a deep breath, the weight of his words pressing down on him. “That is why she gave me her first marriage—or wedding ring set—before she passed. She knew I was going to propose to you, and she wanted you to have something that held all the love and stories of her own journey.”
Her eyes widened in surprise, a mix of shock and tenderness washing over her face. “Wait, what? You have her ring?”
“Yeah,” he admitted, a shy smile creeping onto his lips as he revealed the depths of his heart. “It was a special moment. I visited her a few weeks before the proposal and got the last ring of the set, and she made me promise not to mention it until the right time. I wanted you to feel the love of your family, the legacy they’ve built, with something that connects you both.”
She brought her hand to her mouth, a gasp escaping her lips as tears welled in her eyes. “Oh, Pezzy
she would have loved this! This is so meaningful,” she said as her voice wavered, overwhelmed by the emotions surging within her.
Pezzy felt his heart swell, a gentle pride blooming in his chest. “I thought it would be the perfect way to keep her memory alive and weave it into our story. It’s not just your ring; it’s a symbol of the love that has surrounded you your whole life.”
In that moment, she closed the distance between them, leaning towards the screen with a look of reverence. “Thank you for honoring that part of my family. This makes it even more special.”
The chat was ablaze with hearts and warm messages, supportive comments echoing their joy. Friends and fans alike felt the weight of love in the air, honoring the bittersweet beauty of life, love, and the ties that bind us to those we hold dear.
“I can’t wait to tell everyone about it!” she said, her excitement blending with the bittersweet memory of her grandmother, creating a tapestry of emotions that wrapped around them both.
“Just think about it,” Pezzy teased lightly, “when we do our live wedding planning, I'll have to pull out all the stops to ensure we can tell that story properly!”
With laughter and shared dreams illuminating the room, Pezzy knew that their love story, now anchored with precious memories and familial connections, was just beginning to unfold. They were weaving a narrative together, rich and layered with every twist and turn of their lives, and all the love that had come before them.

Capturing the Last Autumn Leaves at Mifuneyama Rakuen (ćŸĄèˆčć±±æ„œćœ’)
Towards the tail end of autumn, I managed to catch a fleeting glimpse of Mifuneyama Rakuen’s final autumn leaves, just before they were swept away by the winds. The weather, as it so often does, decided to be a bit temperamental—cloudy and windy—but at least it was kind enough not to rain. I hadn’t bothered with an umbrella that day, which, of course, meant that the skies seemed to conspire against me, but I wasn’t about to let a little breeze spoil my adventure.
At just 500 yen for admission, I’d say it’s one of the best deals for an experience that felt straight out of a dream. The moment I stepped into the garden, I was transported into a world where time seemed to slow down. Mifuneyama Rakuen, with its vast, sprawling grounds, is nothing short of magical. Covering over 500,000 square metres, the garden is home to hundreds of thousands of trees and flowers, each season painting the landscape in a new palette of colours. From the early bloom of cherry blossoms in spring to the rich hues of autumn, there’s always something spectacular happening.
In spring, the garden bursts into life with vibrant cherry blossoms, followed by the rich greens of summer, when the trees provide a lush canopy of shade. Then, as autumn arrives, the garden transforms again, this time with a fiery explosion of reds, oranges, and yellows. Even in winter, there’s beauty to be found, with the trees standing proudly against the crisp air, and the occasional plum blossom daring to bloom early.
Located about two hours by train from Hakata Station, this tranquil retreat feels like a hidden gem tucked away from the city’s hustle and bustle. As I wandered the paths, I was surrounded by an enchanting array of trees, many of which had already begun their autumnal dance, shedding their leaves in a glorious burst of colour. Some of the trees clung to their last golden hues, while others, like old soldiers, stood tall and proud, their branches swaying in the breeze.
It’s hard to put into words just how peaceful and awe-inspiring this garden is. The air smelled of damp earth and crisp leaves, and with every step, I was greeted by new vistas, each more stunning than the last. If you’ve ever felt like stepping into a painting or a dream, this was as close as it gets.

why are macro furries, giantesses, and other enormous fetish objects always in generic metropoleis and not spectacular vistas carving out canyons and flattening forests where they step and slipping down glaciers like waterslides among other things?

The Tadpole Galaxy from Hubble, 2024-07-15
Why does this galaxy have such a long tail? APOD in world languages: Arabic (IG), Bulgarian, Catalan, Chinese (Beijing), Chinese (Taiwan), Czech, Dutch, Farsi, French, German, Hebrew, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, Serbian, Slovenian, Spanish, Taiwanese, Turkish, and Ukrainian

Luss Loch Lomond April 2019
Tumblr media
Glenorchy New Zealand March 2024.
The South Island of NZ is breathtakingly beautiful. Every mountain, lake and forest is spectacular.
The Scot settlers in the South Island in particular would have felt the comfort of familiar vistas and weather. Snow in the winter especially for the southern hemisphere.
Returning to NZ for the first time since covid I pondered that there were missed opportunities for MIK NZ. Time restrictions not withstanding, less slapstick and adrenaline pursuits MIK NZ could have been better - IMAOO.

This ficlet is a scene from a high school AU. A high school AU that doesn’t exist yet because I haven’t written it and between the pirate AU and another I’m working on, it’ll be a while before I get to it.
It’s still living in my head and it needs to be free.
Tonight. She was going to tell Lena tonight. She had to, because if she kept this secret another day, another hour, another minute, she would die. There was never going to be another night so perfect as this one. The sky was clear over their heads and ablaze with stars, the moon hiding her face in shadow.
Kara wished Lena could see it the way she saw it, see the waves of particles scattering across the upper atmosphere and the glory of the stars.
“I wish I could share it with you.”
Lena made a soft sound. She lay back against Kara, sitting in the sand between Kara’s legs. They were a good mile up the beach, far from where anyone would find them, warmed by the fire Kara had started.
“Share what?” said Lena.
“The sky. I wish I could give you the sky.”
Lena shifted where she sat, turning in Kara’s lap to lean her head on Kara’s shoulder and look up at her. Lena was so beautiful that there were no words in English that could express what Kara felt when she looked at her. Green eyes flickered in glow from the fire, their boundless depths alive with yet more light than the endless tide of stars above their heads.
Sitting there in Kara’s sweatshirt, her hands tucked inside the sleeves for warmth, she was everything. Kara gently, experimentally, brought a hand up to draw a stray lock of curly dark hair away from Lena’s face. It was crossing the line, but they’d crossed the line so many times during these last weeks of summer, the line itself had been scratched to nothing.
Lena still stared directly into Karan’s eyes, emerald vistas more spectacular than any vista on any world she’d traveled. Kara adored her, everything about her, from the soft dimples that formed when she laughed to the way she could solve calculus problems in her head.
She wondered if Lena would have been matched to her on Krypton. She didn’t think she cared what a machine would think.
“Kara?” Lena whispered, tilting her chin up, inviting. Anticipating.
It was the most natural thing in the world for the hand that tamed the stray locks to now take Lena’s chin in the softest grip, for the other hand that rested on her thigh to slide up and take a possessive hold on her hip. It was like gravity drawing time together as Lena’s soft lips met hers.
The kiss was soft, halting, as much a question as an answer, and yet in that soft brushing of lips upon lips, a simple close-mouthed peck on the lips, a declaration was made. Lena almost went limp as she relaxed, safe for the hand that reached up to gently gather Kara’s neck and offer a silent affirmation for her to continue.
The fire was low by the time Kara knew they had to go. They walked up the beach together towards where Lena had parked them.
“What are we going to do?” Lena asked.
It was as much that question that brought them back to the real world, as it was the asphalt of the roadside pull-off. The question had been hanging over them like a deadly weight for weeks. Lena was going to MIT. Kara was going to NCU. There would be three thousand miles between them, and worse than that, no more sneaking around Midvale, free Lena’s parents watching them.
“Anything,” Kara said. “I won’t give up on us, ever.”
Lena said nothing, looking a little green now as she took the wheel of her Mercedes, a gift from her father before he died.
Kara sat beside her and kept the silence, but couldn’t take her eyes from Lena.
So, she almost didn’t see it coming.
High beams flicked on behind them, Lena crying out from the blinding flash in her rear view mirror. There was a sickening crunch as the car slammed into Lena’s bumper, and the driver was twisting the wheel.
“He’s trying to run us off the road,” Kara said, too calm.
“Hold on.”
Lena was a skilled driver, as capable as she was in everything she did. It didn’t matter. They were driving along a cliff overlooking the beach, a good fifty foot drop to the sand below.
There was no time. The car rammed them again, and Lena screamed, her cries turning to pure terror as the car turned against her will at the jarring impact. It spun, the world flailing crazily around them, and then came the inevitable lurch as the Mercedes careened over the shoulder and began to roll.
Kara threw herself across the gap between them, pulling Lena into a fetal position, shielding her with her own back. The car slammed onto its roof and Kara grunted as the struts gave way and sheet metal pancaked against her. Lena was screaming, clutching Kara with such a painful desperation.
The car rolled and rolled, crushing in around them. Finally, it stopped, settling on its roof, against a dune. Lena gasped, drawing in a shocked breath.
“What
 how
”
“Hush,” Kara murmured. “I have you.”
Lena looked into Kara’s eyes.
Kara
flexed. She planted her feet on the roof and pushed, digging her back into the console. Lena clutched her tighter as the wreckage shifted, the entire chassis of the car rising as Kara stood, finally releasing her arms from Lena’s body. She put her palms against the wreckage and braced her back and pushed.
With a shriek of protesting metal, the entire car lifted over her head. Kara rose to her full height, two tons of steel and plastic resting on her palms as she easily raised it above her head.
She threw it, heaving it away. It crash landed in the sand a dozen yards away, carving a crater in the earth as it landed.
“There they are!” a voice called. “What the hell?”
Kara knew that voice. Otis Graves. One of Lex Luthor’s thugs.
“Who cares? Boss said to finish them. Shoot her.”
“Kara, get-“
Muzzle flashes lit the night. Kara stood her ground. The bullets struck her skin with soft, almost metallic pings. Kara reached down and plucked a bullet from the air, half a foot from Lena’s head. She screamed.
Lena’s terrified cry drove her over the edge. She crossed the gap between her and the two thugs in half a second, her eyes blazing with red sun fire. Kara slapped the gun out of Graves’s hand, curling it into a useless ball of twisted steel before it hit the ground.
Then, she grabbed him by the throat, hauled him up, and threw him. He rolled across the sand, crying out as a bone crunched in the landing. The man with him simply screamed Jesus Christ! and broke into a run.
“Kara? Kara!” Lena shouted, “oh my God, you’ve been shot! They shot you!”
“I’m okay,” she whispered.
Kara slipped her arms under Lena and lifted her easily from the sand.
“Put your arms around my neck, and hold on,” she said, taking Lena in a bridal carry. “I’m taking you back to my house. We need help. Eliza will know what to do.”
“How? Kara, we’re an hour away by car!”
“Do you trust me?”
Lena pressed tightly against her, shaking.
“I will always protect you,” Kara promised. “Always.”
“I trust you.”
Kara flew.

As you approached the trailhead, the warm, golden light of the sun spilt over the landscape, casting the rolling hills and jagged cliffs in a soft glow. Jade was in his element, practically gleaming with excitement as he led you up the treacherous path.
He had invited you on this outing a few days ago, his voice infused with a bubbling enthusiasm that was so rare for him as he enthralled you with vivid descriptions of the rugged sea cliffs and the undulating hills, promising magnificent sights that would leave you spellbound. His words painted a picture of a spectacular adventure that would take you into uncharted territory. Having been rather exhausted by your errands at school and in need of a break, the thought of immersing yourself in nature was a balm to your frazzled nerves. The lure of the great outdoors, with its stunning vistas and vibrant colours, was too hard to resist. What better way to lift your spirits than the dazzling sky?
His tall, lean figure strode confidently ahead of you, a backpack slung over his broad shoulders. Every so often, he would glance back at you with an encouraging smile, lending you a hand where the steps were unsteady and slippery. You could tell he was elated to explore the rocky landscape and discover new wonders, his gaze scanning the rocks and cliffs with a childlike curiosity.
The salty air filled your lungs as you neared the top of the cliff, and the sound of crashing waves grew louder and more insistent, beckoning you closer to the cliff's edge. Jade's eyes lit up as he spotted an interesting patch of mushrooms growing by a tree, and he eagerly took out his camera to snap a few photos, before carefully harvesting the fungi.
Meanwhile, you were transfixed, gazing out at the endless expanse of cerulean sky and sparkling ocean. The sea cliff was a towering behemoth, standing high above the tumultuous waters below. The waves were a symphony of power and violence, rising up in towering peaks, their foamy white caps akin to glaciers reaching for the sky before crashing down onto the rocks below with incredible force. A frothy contrast to the cliff's rough and jagged surface, the sea foam clung to the rocks like delicate lace. It appeared as though nature had woven an intricate tapestry onto the jagged rocks, smoothing their sharp edges.
As you stood on the edge of the sea cliff, the raw power of the waves crashing against the rocks below filled your senses with a thrilling sense of danger and excitement. The wind whipped at your hair and clothes, as if taunting you to take one step too far.
"Are you sure you should leave your back open like that?" His words broke through your trance. "Someone cruel might just push you, you know." You turned around to see his eyebrows furrowed, his eyes glinting with a mix of playfulness and sadistic glee.
You couldn't help but laugh at his antics, his teasing only adding to the thrill of the moment, the adrenaline pumping through your veins. "Haha, you wouldn’t do that," you chuckled, calling his bluff.
His eyes widened in surprise before a wry smile spread across his face, revealing his sharp teeth that twinkled in the sunlight. "My, what confidence you have in me, dearest," he said, his words laced with a mix of amusement and challenge.
"I trust you," you said, your voice firm and steady. "And besides
" You took his hand and pressed it to your chest, feeling your heart beating strong and steady. "Even if you did, I'd just come back and haunt you. There's no way you're getting rid of me that easily!"
You tugged on his arm playfully, the force pushing you back a step. "Go on, I'd like to see you try," you said cheekily.
As the wind continued to whip around you, Jade's teasing demeanour suddenly melted away, replaced by profound affection.
He let out a soft sigh as he enveloped you in his embrace, his arms like a fortress around you, providing a sense of safety and protection. As he held you close, you could feel the steady thud of his heart against your chest, a rhythmic beat like the tide of the ocean.
"Mmm, my dear pearl," he murmured, his voice a smooth caress of love. "You truly are so endearing."
With those words, you felt a warm and comforting sensation spread through your chest, a strong sense of love and belonging that made your heart sing.
You leaned into Jade's touch, resting your head against his chest and breathing in his musky scent mixed with the freshness of the sea. As you closed your eyes, you felt his fingers gently tracing patterns on your back, a tender and soothing gesture that made you feel safe and loved.
With a gentle but firm movement, you pulled out of his embrace, your hands still clasped tightly together as you looked up at him with a bright and eager smile.
"Come on, Jade," you said enthusiastically. "We've still got so much more to see! The day is just getting started."
As you spoke, you noticed a fleeting hesitation in Jade's gaze, his eyes reflecting a reluctance to leave the comfort of your arms. You reached for his hand, fingers entwining with his, his gloves a barrier against the chill of the morning air, and tugged him forward, urging him to embrace the anticipation for the journey ahead.
Shaking your head fondly, you pressed a tender kiss to his cheek, the last remnants of his hesitation melting away like snowflakes in the spring sun under the warmth of your affection. His sigh was heavy, but it was a sigh of surrender, as his eyes once again alit with the thrill of exploration. "You're right," he said, a hint of eagerness creeping into his voice. "Let's get going."
Without another word, you resumed your journey down the path, the cool breeze tousling your hair as you gazed in wonder at the breathtaking scenery that surrounded you. The verdant foliage of the forest stretched out before you, dappled sunlight filtering through the leafy canopy overhead. And with him by your side, everything would only seem more enchanting and wondrous.

Hubble captures unique ultraviolet view of a spectacular star cluster
Roughly 210,000 light-years away, the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC) is one of our Milky Way galaxy's closest neighbors. In fact, this small galaxy is one of the Milky Way's "satellite" galaxies, which orbit our home spiral galaxy.
Nested within the SMC is this spectacular star cluster, known as NGC 346. Its hot stars unleash a torrent of radiation and energetic outflows, which erode the denser portions of gas and dust in the surrounding nebula, N66. Dozens of hot, blue, and high-mass stars shine within NGC 346, and astronomers believe this cluster contains more than half of the known high-mass stars in the whole SMC.
The NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope has observed this cluster before, but its new view shows NGC 346 in ultraviolet light, along with some visible-light data. Ultraviolet light helps scientists understand more about star formation and evolution, and Hubble—with its combined sharp resolution and position above our UV-blocking atmosphere—is the only telescope with the ability to make sensitive, ultraviolet observations.
These specific observations were gathered to learn more about how star formation shapes the interstellar medium, which is the gas distributed throughout seemingly empty space, in a low-metallicity galaxy like the SMC. Astronomers call elements heavier than hydrogen and helium "metals," and the SMC contains fewer metals when compared to most parts of our Milky Way. This condition helps make it an excellent example of a galaxy similar to those that existed in our early universe, when very few heavy elements were around to incorporate.
