Of the 150+ anime I watched this year, these are my highly recommended

Obviously, I haven't included all of them (mainly just ones I'm decently familiar with, enough to know that the anime adaptations are completely). Some I also made executive decisions to exclude. For example, I left out the Legend of Basara and Please Save My Earth because they're less familiar to most people on here. And D.N. Angel and My Love Story!! have male MCs, so I'm not sure if they count as shoujo. And Shugo Chara technically isn't fully adapting since they made up the Party! arc after the Easter Arc (manga ending is much better in my opinion lol...)

However, I hope I got most of the popular ones! Or at least that ones that still make me sad aren't finished lol

whenever i'm feeling down i find myself going back to my favorite shoujos for comfort. it just feels so nostalgic and comforting!! rewatching all your favorite scenes and even remembering the things you missed is so much fun!! sometimes all you need is some classic romance to make you feel a bit better <33

Okay, not all of these are childhood friends, but all of them have the argumentative/competitive dynamic that is occasionally tempered with some sap just to keep us believing. If I counted correctly, 6 of these are canon couples and 4 of those are the stars of the show! I highly recommend all of them.
