Megatron's "Not So Interesting' Life

So, I have this thought of an au for a while, where the war never happened but the world is littered with anomalies, entities and all that jazz, right? And Megatron, is just a normal mech, with a normal life, being friends with "normal" people and finding their newly crowned Prime off. Oh! He also gets these cool abilities that I have yet to properly set down-

Megatron knows that he special he has always  known this. How could he not? From a young age, he could instinctively distinguish between a walking glitch of a fake and an actual mecha. It was as if his optics had been calibrated to detect the unseen threads of the universe. Shadows danced at the edges of his vision, and he always had the gnawing sense that something lurked just beyond his peripheral awareness. Not that he cared. In fact, he barely gave it a second thought.

Megatron has always known that he has abilities, that he has a gift. He knew this. He could see what others couldn’t. Yet, for the longest time, he refused to acknowledge it, treating it as little more than an inconvenient quirk. That was, until he befriended a few of those shadowy entities that liked to pass themselves off as part of the mortal world. He never really minded—they weren’t doing him any harm, again, he barely cared.

They are attracted to Megatron's gift, I mean, who wouldn't? Having the ability to sniff out someone's bull is pretty helpful.

You see, Megatron grew up in Kaon, and growing up in Kaon, which was and is a place dripping with superstition, Megatron had heard his share of horror stories: the dark, Unicron’s spawns, Primus’ Youngs, and the whispers of what prowled in the shadows. These tales were used to scare younglings into good behavior.

Megatron himself had his fair share of those stories, although, some of the elders do love to exaggerate those stories.

He likes it, not because it makes it creepy. He didn’t find them scary��he found them funny, mostly because of his friends. For reasons he still couldn’t quite fathom, his closest companions growing up were a spark eater, a ghoul, and a demon. Hearing their outrage over the inaccuracies in these tales was endlessly entertaining.

“You can’t eat a spark like that,” Starscream, the spark eater, would hiss in annoyance whenever he hears these ridiculous stories  . “Why do they always describe it like I’m slurping energon soup? There’s nuance!”

“Ghouls: do not hide under berths: waiting to snatch younglings” deadpanned Soundwave, the ghoul, glaring at Megatron. “Soundwave: not a sterotype: Stories; exaggerated”

And Shockwave, the demon of the group would just simply twitch in annoyance.

And unlike Iacon, who rarely has anything to do with superstitions and such beliefs were dismissed as primitive nonsense. (or as media likes to portray it). Kaon has plenty, it thrived on superstition, unlike Iacon,  If Kaon had a museum for the supernatural, it would probably need its own skyscraper.

Megatron can attest to it, as stated before, he is friends with some of the horrifying entities that the tales always tell. Not only that, He’d had his share of encounters with those dark forces, not all of them pleasant. Most of the time, it ended in one of three ways: a fight, a frantic escape, or an unsettling brush with death. The only reason Megatron was still functioning was thanks to his friends, who often bailed him out of tight spots to save his arf.

Yet despite all of this, Megatron barely cares.

He doesn't do much, than work at his boring office job, visit his friends and reassure them that he is well, one of the literally lives in Vos! But at least his trip is always payed, courtesy to his friend. Outside of that? His life is completely barren and uneventful.

That is, until he met the new Prime that goes by the name Optimus Prime. Not, met met him, more like saw him in the holos and the streets during the coronation parade. He didn't wanna be there to be honest, but Starscream wanted to be there, he was in town for royal duties as the Prince of Vos and he wanted to Megatron to hang out with him, that isn't the mech's lonely apartment or Soundwave's house, or Shockwave's lab.

And Megatron, is a friend, so Megatron decided to go with Starscream, begrudgingly of course. 

When Megatron first laid his optics on the New Prime, he immediately sensed something was off, and he can tell that Starscream noticed too, yet he seem calm, which was odd. Normally, Starscream would have been on high alert, his predatory instincts kicking in. But this time? He wasn’t reacting defensively. That wasn’t exactly a good sign, isn't a bad one either.

Spark eaters tend to have heightened senses, they have the ability to sniff out their pray, and they have the ability to semi manipulate the perception of others, making it easy for them to blend in. If Starscream wasn’t threatened, that meant whatever this “off” thing was, it wasn’t something Starscream recognized as dangerous—or perhaps it was something he couldn’t categorize at all.

Megatron looks at the Prime, observing him closely. Their newly crowned Prime seems nice, he speaks very confidently yet softly, a leader with stern yet does not weild his fist to cage those around him. He spoke to the crowd with warmth, crouched to address younglings optic-to-optic, and carried himself with an air of calm authority.

Megatron….he knows there is something wrong, something off with the Prime. Megatron could feel it, like static in his circuits. He wanted to dig deeper, to pull at the threads of this mystery. But before he could, Starscream interrupted.

Megatron has to put those thoughts into a file and store it for later to entertain his friend. A bored Starscream always never ends well.

Soundwave can attest to that.

So Megatron talks to Starscream as they watch the parade from the distance in the balcony of Starscream's  fancy hotel. They watch as the Prime mingle with the civilian, as he interacts with the younglings with such care.

“Ugh. Look at that pompous mech!” Starscream sneered, slumping dramatically in his chair.

Megatron arched an optic ridge. “What are you talking about? He seems fine.”

“Fine? Look at him, so pristine, so proper!” Starscream gestured wildly at the balcony railing. “He’s too sweet. It’s disgusting. He’s practically dripping syrup on those younglings!” 

"Shouldn't I be the one making complaints here? I'm the one who's gonna get affected if his rule is slag" Megatron quipped dryly, already dreading the new rules and laws that will be set if this Prime is like the other ones before him.

“Oh, please.” Starscream waved him off. “If it were up to you, you’d just brood in silence and not say a word.”

“I would, actually,” Megatron muttered. “Besides, you’re the one verbally attacking your own kind right now.” He pointed out, wanting to immediately change the topic, for all that is stands in this world, Starscream is right, he would probably just brood in silence, rules kept him safe after all.

Starscream makes a disgruntled noise. "That thing down there, is far from being my kin."

Megatron grows confuse, he looks at Starscream. "What do you mean?"

Starscream’s wings twitched irritably as he leaned back in his chair. “That thing down there is not my kin.”

That got Megatron’s attention. He turned to Starscream, optics narrowing.

Starscream huffed, clearly annoyed he had to explain. “Look at him! He’s too…off. Too stiff to be a spark eater, too mellow to be a ghoul. His frame doesn’t match anything I recognize. And his voice?” Starscream shuddered theatrically. “It’s wrong. It’s too nice. No one’s voice is that…perfect.”

Megatron frowned, glancing back at the Prime. Now that Starscream mentioned it, he can see more of the odd things about him. The balance of his movements, the precision of his words, the faint flicker of something beneath the surface—it didn’t quite add up.

Huh… Yeah, he can kinda see that now.

OKAY SO, BASIC WORLDBUILDING:

Just like MD takes place way in the future, this AU takes place waaaay into cybertron's future.

The Optimus and Megatron are long gone history figureheads, most cybertronians never even heard about them. The primes are also long gone, Optimus was the last bearer of the matrix, so no chosen one either.

Cybertron is ruled by The Senate (*lmao its not. But more on that later ahuhuhu) and "Decepticon" is literally just the official designation for any and all cybetronian who goes against the senate in any way (basically the senate took a name and insignia from the history books that mean "the bad guys" and slapped it into anyone who causes them trouble)

Copper 9 is actually, just like in MD, a small exoplanet with a mining operation going on. The vast majority of the miners are disposables/monoformers minibots (AKA worker drones)

Now, SOMETHING (haven't actually. Figured out what yet) happens on Copper 9, that makes the bots there pretty much uhhh whats the english word for when a colony wants to separate from the country, liberate themselves?

Basically Copper 9 tells cybertron to fuck off and wants to become its own government.

Senate is like uhhh no you fukin dont.

Marks the entire colony as Decepticons, and sents the DDD to wipe them out.

Now on to some more character concepts:

UZI: Uzi is a minibot (around rewind size or so, maybe sliiiightly bigger?) Shes an outcast for a number of reasons, but the main one if because she actually modded herself with an experimental T-cog she designed AND built herself out of trash.

Her altmode is the Railgun (her knockoff T-cog is the reason behind the 30 mins cool down, is she were to try and rapidfire, it would literally burnt out her spark)

Just like in cannon, she thinks that hiding from the DDD is dumb and they should fight them instead.

(Her altmode being a gun is also to emphasize her loneliness/solicitude from the rest of the colony. She has the means to fight but no one willing/she trusts to weild her)

I dont know what to do about khan tho, not huge into cybertronians having parents myself? so, dunno. I'll figure it out later.

NORI: i got two potential ideas for Nori, one, she was actually secretly a headmaster, and thats how she survived the DDD, by leaving her body behind.

Or two, (and the one il most likely go with) she, just like minimus and dominus, was secretly a loadbearing miniMINIbot, her irreducible form being a beastformer (an ant maybe? Some kind of bug most likely)

Dunno what to make of her relation with Uzi tho, maybe she was a beloved mentor/only friend who taught Uzi how to built stuff?

And Khan was her Conjux? And he took in Uzi cuz he promised Nori he would look after her if something happened to her?

Could be, could be.

Now, onto the JUICY stuff, ahuhuh.

The Senate, and the senate's public speaking figurehead, Senator Tessa (dunno if i should change her name to something more cybertronian sounding, Senator Tesseract maybe?)

Unknown to cybertron's population, and to N and V, the entire senate has been dead for millenia.

Senator Tessa's body has been hijacked and controlled by Cyn, who is pretty much the Anti-prime ouo

She was chosen and brought back to life by unicron himself, to spread chaos and gain control of cybertron, with the end goal of devouring primus himself.

Cyn was originally another disposable minibot, but she died with such contempt to the world around her that her spark called to Unicron himself, who saw great potential for chaos in her.

Unicron was right, too right in fact, because Cyn would eventually consume him ouo she eventually ate him.

Once her story is known, cybertron gives her the tittle Daughter of Unicron, God eater.

Hi! I just want to say that your headcanon and aus are so cool! I love reading every one of them! I'm really glad i saw your blog, because my favorite character is bumblebee and blitzbee is one of my otp.

The idea that bee is more than what his team think he is really excites me (like your celestial, electro, spark-eater, and warframe bumblebee aus), because i can read bee being a badass or have some hidden trauma.

I do wonder if electro bee have any side effect with his power?

I do enjoy giving Bee more than they expect him to handle- which he handles just fine in secret. The thrill of hidden danger is too good. And yes, angst is the best.

As for electro Bee- as I mentioned in earlier posts about it, he gets his power via EM field or touch, that's why he likes being in the city- it makes him more energetic than if he was in the forest.

He can drain of electric energy anything that has it- machinery and mechs alike. He wasn't aware he was doing it until Ratchet pointed it out to him after her handed him a tool with full battery and it shortly died after Bee gave it back. Guess that's why mechs always seemed tired when he hung around for too long.

He also gets hyper during thunderstorms. You can't get him to sit still at all.

For the "bad side effects"- before he had his stingers he was struggling to keep his ability under control- he still does sometimes, if he's holding in too much emotion his static charge will rise and make electric arches across his frame and to nearby things that conduct electricity. He accidentally zapped his teammates few times when they were arguing, they try to do less yelling and more reasoning in behavior so Bee won't get too mad and get the point across.

Since Bee's circuitry is fucked enough to not make him take shock damage I imagine he wouldn't notice if he has high static charge, he's just go about his business and it often ends up in his frying something/someone's circuit if it/they are too close. Ratchet has started checking his EM field everytime Bee comes back from somewhere so they won't get hurt nor something gets broken.

A funny one- Bee is essentially a walking battery. He has a lot of energy stored for such small size, if need be his teammates will sit him down plug those weird car battery clippers to his horns and make him the backup power supply for the plant. He often just plays games on his pocket console while sitting near the braker box all upset, Optimus always gives him baked sweets to make up for these situations.

I made Disconnect/Autumn (they're both the same character asdfghj) where she's a Harpy bearded-vulture with a little bit of biblically accurate angel and penguin (she has the mouth of a penguin) and with a teeny bit of mothman. So the basic story is that in my OG au soundwave adopts a human child but she gets kidnapped and essentially changed into a cybertronian look-alike, where externally she somewhat look like a transformer (although more like a skinwalker to them asdfghj) but on the inside she is mostly organic (think evangelion). So I'm thinking in this au maybe she gets kidnapped by some weird cultists named F.L.E.S.H or C.R.Y.P.T or something and essentially is cut into pieces, with new organs being attached and some sort of ritual happening where she turns into this thing. But it isn't the pure angel they thought she would turn into so they were like "Damn bitch u ugly" and put a weird magic cover on her face to contain her power and rage (kinda like empurita?) and she gets saved by the autobots or whatever they're called in this world. (I'm thinking about making optimus a crocodile because in the og show he turned into one and him carrying his team members in his maw like mama crocs do would be adorable, and for sideswipe maybe a sort of skinwalker maned wolf hyena vibe??? Cause he's just lanky like that asdghj For soundwave either a vampire/spark-eater or maybe a siren??? cause it's weirdly canon in the comics that people thinks he's attractive and he knows it.)

Sparkeater au, What happen after optimus's paint flaked off? Also what elita's reaction to orion?

Under the paint, he is almost completely gray, he basically looks one step from death, it unnerves everyone who isn't used to it, so Optimus works to keep it on daily, but human paint isn't as durable.

Elita has become quiet and almost demanding, especially with her immense hate for organics, finding Optimus made her cry, which no one has ever seen her do since she became the cold sparked femme she is today after Archa Seven. But Optimus still playing the, "who's Optimus, I'm Orion" card, Elita takes him back to her ship and tries to "fix" Optimus, Optimus doesn't want to because she could find out what he is. So an almost comedic moment of Elita chasing down Optimus around the city, Until she loses him and makes a promise to save her friend.

Another TFA Angst AU

So!

During the little thing at Archa seven, Because Sentinel and Elita were dating, Sentinel used Optimus' grapple to grab Elita, but withlist saving Elita, Optimus Fell. He was torn apart and broken from the explosion. He was later found by the Decepticons and given to Brainstorm for an experiment. To create a cyberlogical weapon. He called them sparkeaters. By this point he already created a few standard mindless ones, but he wanted to create more, one that can follow orders and think for itself and not just hunger alone. The barely living young cadet was perfect for his experiment.

After wards Elita wants to tell the full story of what happened at Archa Seven, but Sentinel stops her. He yells at her and threatens her not to say a thing. It worked. They both got off scott free... Elita broke up with Sentinel and requested to change to a different academy center. They never saw eachother again. Sentinel went into the elite guard, and Elita became a saboteur and spying on the Decepticons and finding info. Her partner is Blurr, and both of them were sent to Earth to spy on a small repair crew lead by a bot name "Orion Pax"

More TFA Sparkeater Optimus AU HCs

Sparkeater Optimus looks almost identical to normal Optimus except he's slightly thinner and is very pale... like he's halfway through graying, lots of people think he's dying so Brainstorm paints him every few months or so, but now with only human paint available he has to do it more often because it washes off so easily. On his back he has four circles, these are Optimus coils, (he refuses to call them tentacles) every sparkeater has them, but Optimus keeps them put away. His optics are yellow, and he wore lenses over them constantly until Ratchet forced him to keep them off before lenses weren't good for his opticsight. Optimus can unhinge his jaw "for eating larger sparks" but you can't really tell unless he does it. Optimus also has a full Sparkeater form that turns him completely gray, horribly thinner, his yellow optics glow brightly, his coils come out and are sharper, and his digits are incredibly sharp claws, he looka just like a sparkeater. He only went into this form once, involuntarily when he and Brainstorm first escaped from the Decepticons and Optimus started starving as they tried to find a way to protect themselves.

For the longest time, only Brainstorm and Ratchet knew about Optimus' "condition" until Brainstorm got overcharged and slipped it out to Bulkhead and Bumblebee, then soon enough they told Prowl who apparently "always knew". Prowl and Brainstorm usually talk to eachother alot, Bumblebee teases them saying how in love they are, in reality, they have private meetings for Brainstorm to vent and get love advice on how to get the attention of Optimus. Don't forget, Brainstorm is a tall bot, a bit taller than Starscream, even without the heel. Brainstorm and Perceptor used to date but separated when Perceptor got a job in the autobot science division and Brainstorm with the decepticon science division, both on the highest command of science in each of their sides, unable to see eachother again and both feeling hurt that the other took the offer. Optimus can eat the allspark shards, he craves them actually. The shards don't dissolve like sparks, they just sit in his tank, but the energy they spill is something

Optimus can sniff out and find, but he always wants to eat them. So whenever they find the shards they try to keep it from Optimus, which a lot of times they fail to do, and it's not like they can get them out without opening up Optimus tank completely. Brainstorm keeps giving the shards to Optimus saying that he's their allspark vault because the cons don't know where the shards are, and these specific high command on earth hasn't seen his sparkeater experiments and has only seen the written reports. What they don't know it the shards in Optimus' tank are wielding back together with the heat and pressure that the tank irradiates to digest sparks.

When the Steelhaven arrives, they expect to see a repair crew led by captain Orion Pax, Ultra Magnus and Sentinel Prime were shocked to see Optimus alive, Sentinel runs up to him and looks at him with fluids in his eyes, touching Optimus being pulling him into a hug, Optimus' crew all shocked to see Sentinel have a soft side, Sentinel cries about how much he missed Optimus, to which Optimus replies, as per his and Brainstorm's plan, "Who are you? My name is Orion Pax sir?" And Ultra Magnus and Sentinel are completely shocked and Sentinel refuses to believe his best friend he thought was dead doesn't remember him. Ultra Magnus cuts him off and continues as usual, trying to ignore this... for now. When they take them in for decontamination, Optimus' paint falls off and his grayish red and blue shows and Jazz and Sentinel are in shock as they ask, "how are you not dead yet." After that meeting and truth of decepticons on earth, they stayed for a few days and on the first night Sentinel made a call to Elita Prime of the intelligence division.

Elita is less than pleased to see the one who blamed his mistakes on a dead friend to save his aft. She... doesn't believe him when he says he found Optimus, and immediately hangs up the call. Only for Longarm Prime to send her and Blurr to run recon on earth on the repair ream and the decepticons. Elita is disgusted by organic life... even more so than Sentinel now, she is a shoot on sight if it breathes. She was supposed to be banned from organic world missions, but Longarm saw it fit to send her here with the orders not to kill anything, this pisses her off more than anything. Organics took her friend away... why should she let those processorless things live.

(Sparkeater au) Does the team learn that op is a sparkeater? And if they do does op start using his tendrils to fight Megatron?

Yes, Ratchet was the first to find out as seen here then Prowl, and by that point they had ti tell Bee and Bulkhead. Soon enough he does fight with his coils, Optimus is very picky on what they are called, and he becomes a living storage unit for allspark shards as he can smell them out and eats them, they sate the hunger and don't dissolve, so they find the shards quicker and the decepticons don't know where they're hiding them for quite some time.

The episode one ship scene where Megatron was trying to get the all spark.

It goes mostly the same, by this point the entire team knows about Optimus' situation. Megatron gets pissed off when he sees his old lead scientist Brainstorm there fighting with the autobots. When it's just Megatron and Optimus in the storage bay, being so close to the Allspark and being attacked causing Optimus to lose control as he tries to eat Megatron's spark revealing himself to the enemy. Megatron was winning and was about to kick Optimus out of hatch until Brainstorm came in and pushed him out and grabbed Optimus and pulled him back in, then had to stop Optimus from eating his spark.

How does Megatron view Sparkeater OP? Not to mention Brainstorm betraying him.

He sees Optimus as a formula for a perfect weapon, after all. That was what he originally was planned to be before Brainstorm grew a consciousness and grabbed his research, Optimus, and ran away from the decepticons. Of course Megatron states that if Brainstorm returns and finishes his work on Optimus he would be spared from the DJD, but Brainstorm denies, and Megatron wants him dead, but needs his science and technology, so second plan, kidnap and force him to work with the decepticons again.

Yes, cybertronian paint lasted longer than Human paint though, so with all the fighting and hero work, he has to repaint about every week or so

During the many years that Optimus has been dead, Brainstorm had succeeded in his project, but one problem, he retains all his memories. Eventually Brainstorm talks his way to having Optimus work for the cons. But over time... Brainstorm starts to feel bad for what he's done. He betrays the decepticons and helps Optimus escape and puts him back in the autobots as a repair bot named Orion Pax. In turn, Optimus gives Brainstorm protection hidden on his ship as they go repair space bridges. It took awhile for him to convince them that Brainstorm was an ally. Of course everything goes smoothly. Optimus Prime died, this was Orion Pax.

Their only problem was the hunger.

After wards Elita wants to tell the full story of what happened at Archa Seven, but Sentinel stops her. He yells at her and threatens her not to say a thing. It worked. They both got off scott free… Elita broke up with Sentinel and requested to change to a different academy center. They never saw eachother again. Sentinel went into the elite guard, and Elita became a saboteur and spying on the Decepticons and finding info. Her partner is Blurr, and both of them were sent to Earth to spy on a small repair crew lead by a bot name “Orion Pax”

Brainstorm was a decepticon, but only by frame. He did the deeds but didn't like them. When he joins the repair crew, it's just this Giant warframe. Hanging out on their ship and hiding anytime anyone else comes on board. He gets along pretty well with Ratchet and Bulkhead. For Optimus' hunger he creates artificial sparks using a shaving of his own spark. Later on that takes a toll on him and he finds an allspark shard and uses that to create the artificial sparks...(Or are they artificial ;3 they won't be able to know) He doesn't know this, He just thinks the allspark shard is making artificial sparks like he wants it to, not that the shard is creating new life
