And I, the least of beings, drunk on the vast void littered with stars – semblance, image of mystery -- I felt myself a pure part of the abyss, I spun with the stars, my heart loosed its strings in the wind.
Y yo, mínimo ser, ebrio del gran vacío constelado, a semajanza, a imagen del misterio, me sentí parte pura del abismo, rodé con las estrellas, mi corazón se desató en el viento.
--Pablo Neruda (1904-1973)

english teacher Mike Wheeler who comes across as this Serious Intimidating and pretentious jerk until you discover he's just a nerd who all the Troubled and 'Difficult' kids surprisingly love and look up to. No one knows how he does it. (he was, once, that angry troubled teen).
art teacher Will Byers who absolutely every student loves. You cannot hate him. Queer kids are especially drawn to him and he's the best at reassuring them and helping them feel comfortable and safe. He's always followed by at least two or three students and he gets the most notes, gifts and hand-made crafts during holidays.
and yes they're married

Got my DELF exam results back and I officially have the French B2 diploma!! I got an 81% and though I think I could have done better, I am just glad that the entirely nightmarish routine of reading 92728 articles and listening to 98228 podcasts about French sociopolitical problems everyday is gone! Now I just have to focus on Spanish and Italian in order to obtain the DELE and the CILS…

i can't stop thinking about that my literature teacher today told us that a lot of people (including my class) was loosing the ability of reading comprehension and he has a really strong point
i feel like more and more people take the words more literally, not really stopping to imagine and try to comprehend the meaning behind them. Not all words will mean the same or be used in a literal way
You, as a reader, have to imagine the scene and try to put in place the word and its meaning to fit in a logic way into a specific action or dialoge

"Granada, 1850" -- Federico García Lorca (1898-1936)
Granada, 1850 From my window I hear the fountain. A vine-finger and a ray of sun indicate the site of my heart. Through the August air the clouds are passing. I dream that I’m not dreaming within the fountain. Granada y 1850 Desde mi ventana oigo el surtidor.
Un dedo de parra y un rayo de sol, señalan hacia el sitio de mi corazón.
Por el aire de Agosto se van las nubes. Yo, sueño que no sueño dentro del surtidor.

I've been quiet these days... It's because I co-wrote and published a bilingual children's book set in my home country! Written in English and Spanish, my book is titled JUANITA and it's about the contemporary migrant experience in the Caribbean from a child's perspective.
Tumblr media
JUANITA is the ideal tool for both children and adults to learn English or Spanish as a second language. It features a main story, reading comprehension questions, vocabulary lists, and written reflection exercises.
And guess what! It's available right now worldwide on Amazon in both Kindle and paperback format!
Link to Kindle purchase: here!

Link to Goodreads page: here!
Give us a purchase, rate, and review if you would like! For language learners and people looking for Hispanic and/or Caribbean representation, JUANITA is my recommendation to you!
