Luther and Diego are the best harcest ship imo. As soon as they crossed paths coming back home for the first time in years, Diego was frothing at the mouth wanting to get railed by the humongous superhuman dick he assumed Luther must have. He wanted him so bad it was making him stupid, that’s why he beat the shit out of him at the memorial service. Anyway did you know primates in the animal kingdom have rlly small micropenises? My headcanon is that the chimpanzee DNA, along with giving Luther the muscle mass, body hair, and bone structure of an ape, gave him a teeny little dick. So then when they finally sort out their shit sometime in season two and Diego asks Luther to fuck him, Luther is all cute and insecure about it <3 and then Diego gets to top him instead, which works out perfectly because honestly Luther is such a sweetie he would be too afraid to accidentally hurt him w his super strength. Also their size difference? OMFGG

(this is spacekrakens lmao) dude idk anything about like 1950s Japanese cinema, do you have any recommendations? looking for stuff to toss on the watchlist now that I'm a bit burned out on horror (unless you have some horror recs)
Tumblr media
Hey! If you’re curious about Japanese cinema (particularly 1950s), there’s a lot of avenues to explore! Musicals, crime, horror, historical—it all depends on what mood you’re in. (Putting this under a read more because I'm DEFINITELY going to be long posting about this!!!) Hope this is useful to you lol.
(Also noting if anybody wants to add to this list with their own recommendations feel free!!)
Tumblr media
With old school Japanese cinema, I’ll always recommend Akira Kurosawa (obviously). He’s made some of the best Japanese movies (and arguably, the best movies of all time imo) and I feel like his work is a good gateway. It’s readily available on physical media/streaming too.
Specifically ‘50s stuff; Hidden Fortress (1958) is a good adventure flick whose structure was swiped for Star Wars, Throne of Blood (1957) is Japanese Macbeth if you like Shakespeare, and if you don’t mind a longer movie Seven Samurai (1954) includes Toshiro Mifune acting like this;
Tumblr media
Gotta admit, though—my personal favorites from Kurosawa don’t come from the 1950s; Drunken Angel (1948) and Yojimbo (1961). One has a pathetic gangster as the main lead, the other is just a solid, breezy proto-action film (also has my beloved Unosuke but that's besides the point)
Some personal favorites of mine from the 1950s:
Life of a Horse Trader (1951) is a bittersweet story about a man trying to be a good single father to his son in the backdrop of Hokkaido. He tends not to be great at it. Stars Toshiro Mifune, the most famous face of Japanese cinema and for good reason!
Conflagration/Enjo (1958) is a single Buddhist acolyte’s fall into quiet insanity. Raizo Ichikawa is another amazing actor who I love! Also includes Tatsuya Nakadai who is the GOAT (in my heart).
Godzilla (1954) is AMAZING! If you liked Gozilla Minus One, it took a lot of familiar cues from this movie. It also technically counts as horror, depending on your definition.
Japanese horror from the 1950s:
Ugetsu (1951) (Not one I’ve seen personally, but it’s on Criterion)
The Beast Shall Die (1958) (American Psycho, but in Showa Japan. Tatsuya Nakadai is terrifying in this and absolutely despicable—stylish movie tho!)
Ghost of Yotsuya (1959) (Old-school Japanese ghost story. Honestly, there are so many different versions of this story on film that you can pick which version to watch and go from there—I’m partial to the 1965 version myself, because of the rubber rats and Tatsuya Nakadai playing a crazy person).
The Lady Vampire (1959) is the OG western-style vampire movie from Japan. Plays around with the mythos a lot, but hey our Dracula looks like this;
Tumblr media
Misc movies that I think are neat or good gateway movies:
The Samurai Trilogy by Hiroshi Inagaki, which stars Toshiro Mifune as Miyamoto Musashi. Found that people otherwise uninterested in Japanese cinema really enjoyed this!
You Can Succeed, Too (1964) is one of my favorites from the ‘60s, also directed by Eizō Sugawa. A fun satire on the corporate world that's super colorful with catchy songs.
The Sword of Doom (1966) is also another favorite of mine, starring my beloved Tatsuya Nakadai as another bastard man (seriously though Ryunosuke is FASCINATING to me--). Fun gore effects and action scenes!
Kwaidan (1964) is an anthology of Japanese folk tales, labeled a horror film but in that kinda sorta old-school way. Beautifully shot by my favorite Japanese director Masaki Kobayashi (who, if you like this you should seriously check out his other work!)

I personally believe that God loves LGBT people, I just wanted to ask what you thought because I've met some really good Christians and some really bad "Christians", too.
Yes, God does love LGBT people (and so do I). However, LGBT lifestyles, like "marrying" or dating someone of the same sex, is sinful. And so is transgender/nonbinary lifestyles.
1 Corinthians 6:9-11
9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men
10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God
Romans 1:26-28 ~ For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done
There is hope for those living in LGBT lifestyles. Jesus Christ, who is the Son of God and is God in the flesh, came to Earth and lived a sinless life, was crucified, and resurrected on the third day after His death. All you need to do is repent and believe this and you will be saved.
This might not feel pleasant, but it is the truth. That said, LGBT lifestyles are no bigger sins than others. ALL sin is against God and will send people to hell if they don't repent. Though my blog looks cheerful and happy most of the time, I struggle with sin daily. I don't have it all figured out either, but I know Jesus has done everything necessary to be saved and hope to live for Him the best I can. Christians sin daily, not just non-Christians. There will be struggle, but also there will be growth over time.
You may still struggle with same-sex attraction, as we all experience temptation, but God is faithful and full of grace.
I'm also going to refer you to people who were ex-gay and some who are side b (who experience same sex attraction, but do not commit homosexual activity), as they'll probably be better than me at explaining things.

If you wanna talk (about anything, not just religion) I'm still here as well. I still love you regardless of sexuality, religion, or anything else. I hope the Lord speaks to you (and anyone reading this)through this answer.

One of my favourite podcasts (The Reformed Gamers) explored the how Christians can approach horror as something that can be glorifying of God rather than ‘if you watch/play horror stuff, you’re going to Hell’ here in this episode. They are a gaming podcast, so of course it does focus mostly on horror in gaming, but from memory, the guest they had on this episode (Joe Thorn, the guy on the right in the video) isn’t much of a gamer, so a lot of the stuff he talks about is more related to horror in other media. They’re a great podcast, so if you like this, you’ll probably like a lot of their other stuff too. A lot of their episodes are pretty heavily focused on just talking about games, but there is some great theological stuff mixed in there, and some episodes that get a lot heavier into that side of things.
How do you as a Christian approach your love of the spooky/horror? It's very distinct as something to like as a follower of Christ so was curious
Well, for one I don't view it as something unrelated to faith in the first place! It's just another storytelling tool, and not evil/seperate from Christian thinking as a lot of people treat it. It can be used for evil of course, but as are most things. As long as the message has something to be teach that is either beautiful or true, then I consider it a worthwhile story. Stories, of any genre, that tell a story with no truth/beauty, aren't worth placing in your heart in my opinion. So I'm a bit picky on some level I suppose 🤔 but yes, I don't see horror as an evil genre or anything. It's just something people can connect to and tell stories through. Any story can be bad, horror just tends to be tricky because it uses extremes. I don't think seeing violence is evil in and of itself. The evil comes from the intent of the media. Goodness comes from intent as well.
Im not sure entirely what draws me to horror (except perhaps it being a special interest), but I like extremes in fiction, I like seeing characters have to figure their way out of scary situations, like seeing how they react to the worst of the worst. Some horror stories are warnings. Some horror stories make social fears something tangible and defeatable. Body horror and monsters are a fave of mine because (they're cool) and I'm drawn to themes of the body and our relation to it. It just depends. Horror makes us more courageous, rather than afraid, in a way I think. For example, someone can battle an alien on a catacomb like ship (Alien), or survive a zombie filled police station (RE2) and remain gentle and kind, then I can fight off whatever happens in my life too.

you're making me want to watch reanimator
OH MAN OK SOOO
The first movie is pretty good, it's alright. The second one is my favorite :] it's really silly and ridiculous but the acting is so so funny and the effects are CRAZYYYYY. genuinely some of the coolest looking practical effects I've ever seen. insane brainworms about Bride of Reanimator lately
I have to warn you though, in the first Reanimator there is a gross disturbing scene in it depicting SA (like bro. like y'all couldn't have just. Not. had that bullshit. normal 80s horror movie behavior) so someone kindly made an edit of the entire movie removing the scene here vvv

anyway yeah! worth watching, it's a good time. Love this guys (the herbert and the dan)
