Huevember Day 1 - Neon - Prime

How could I not start my Spacebat-themed Huevember with some version of Horde Prime? I chose Anillis from the Where One Fell verse by @revasnaslan because I love that AU so much! I love the slow-drip worldbuilding and the character development. There may be more from the AU popping up again for other hues…

Much as I wanted to use traditional paints for Huevember, I don’t have the prep time, so I’ll be using the opportunity to experiment with digital wet media effects.

Entrapdak Zine 4 - Home for Christmas

Three is the magic number but can we go for four? Most of this is the same as previous posts - if it ain’t broke don’t fit it!

Also as a polite reminder I am only one person running this (and the Secret Santa this year). It may take me a little time to reply to emails/comments please be patient.

Our basic guidelines are the same as Zine 3 which where mostly the same as Zine 2:

This will be:

A Digital Zine containing content created by the fans for the fans

A 100% Free Zine

Preferred Language is English

You may notice I run this very differently to other zines as there is no sign up period, and no check in times. I have a very free-reign management style - just submit work before the deadline.  I’d rather people have that extra time to work on their pieces

Anyone can submit regardless of age or skill level - this is not a job application - just follow the guidelines and email in your work

Submission can be Fan Writing (poems, fan fiction, character analysis, eassys etc), Fan Art, or even photos of your Entrapdak IRL content (cosplays, fancrafts etc)!  You can submit an older work that you have published online previously if you wish - or even update a work you submitted to the last Zine! Just have fun!

Guidelines applicable to all work:

Content Age Rating:

Like the show this Zine will contain content rated Y7 and PG13 rated - so please no swearing

There WILL BE NO NSFW or 18+ content - where possible let’s keep this suitable for all ages please

Sub note on character minimum clothing requirements:

for male presenting characters to be speedos/underpants for female presenting characters to be a bikini/bra and underpants if unsure please use the female presenting criteria

Theme:

This issue’s theme if you wish to use it is:

“Home”

This theme is a suggestion and if you’d rather make an Entrapdak piece without this theme please feel free to do so. I want you to have fun!

Allowed Characters:

As long as both Entrapta and Hordak are the main focus and the piece follows Age Rating it will be allowed.

Other allowed characters in the Entrapdak family include Emily, Imp and the Clones (also known as Spacebats)…yes weirdly this also  includes Horde Prime.

Other She-Ra characters will be allowed but Entrapdak is to be the core element.

Phew that’s a lotta text sorry about that - now on to the fun stuff! What sort of stuff is allowed?

Sex Swap AU, Species Swap AU, Furry AU, Toony AU, Anime AU, Fankid AU, Coffee Shop AU, married AU, Spacebat AU, just besties AU just to name the few that pop into my head! Oh yeah Canon Lab Partners Entrapdak too…hehe nearly forgot about that one XD. Make something Entrapdak related that’s PG13 rated and have fun!!

Fan Writing guidelines:

This includes fan fiction, analysis eassys, poetry or whatever else you’d like to write about.  I would ask this content to be between 1k-10k words in length, it’s not a big deal if the writing is over 10k or even if it’s 20k - write whatever your story needs. If you’d like to write Chapters then please do!

Written work can be emailed in the body of text, sent as pdf attachment or as a link to a Google Doc - I can work with any of those

Fan Art guidelines:

Fan art can include rough sketches, screencap redraws, comics (appox 1-10 pages length), coloured sketches or full colour pieces. Fan art can be in the digital or traditional medium.  Traditional fan art can either be submitted as a photo or scanned, which ever you prefer.

Preferred sizing for Digital art is as follows, my aim to to have everything on International (UK) A4 paper sizing where possible*

Portrait layout is preferred**

PNG is preferred but I will understand if you only wish to send a workable JPEG

The aspect ratio (width:height) of A4 paper is 1:1.4142 (1:√2)

Notes:

*Images outside these sizings are still okay but may end up with a white border on the edges due to the PDF publishing settings.  

**Images in the landscape layout will get boarders when posted on a portrait page due to the PDF publishing settings, however I will make some extra pages at the end of the Zine and attempt to turn landscape art into a two page spread.

Please make sure to include your Social Media contacts and which name or username you wish to be identified by.  If no social media contacts are provided and you have submitted previously I will use those details

I will reply to confirm I have received the content and that’s it I take care of the rest!

Please note I DO NOT KEEP any records of anyone’s email addresses.  When the Zine is out I batch delete all emails sent to the email address and I keep no further records of these address. I respect your email privacy at all times.

FAQs:

Why no Application form?

I don’t want anyone to feel like they are applying for a job here, this is supposed to be fun.

Will there be Guest Artists or Guest Writers?

If they apply sure, I’m not advertising who applies to be a part of this Zine until it’s ready to be published.  I don’t want anyone to feel intimidated just because a certain person has chosen to participate.

Can I submit more than one piece?

If you’d like to certainly!  If you’d like to submit up to three pieces of art and 3 fan writings, sure go for it! I’m certainly not going to stop anyone having a good time, this is supposed to be fun after all!

May I post a preview of my work to my Followers?

Sure! Bonus points if you link them to this post so that they can take part if they wish

May I post my work online?

I would ask if you could please wait until the issue featuring your work is published. Of course this does not apply if you are chosen to submit and older work - in this case may I ask that you edit or add to said post to mention the work was also used in the Zine?

Is this only for people with a [insert certain social media account here]?

Nope, this is for anyone who wants to take part.  I only ask for a social media contact so that others who like you work for the Zine may follow you on your preferred social media platform.

Can I send an update to a piece?

Of course! Just let me know, send it before the deadline and I’ll update on my end

Can I send another piece on later?

Of course that’s not a problem!

Ah I can’t get this done before the deadline - it’s almost ready!!!  I need another day!!!!

Contact me, either through the submitting email over via my Tumblr or Twitter DMs or just emailing the email address. There is extra time allowed for an extension for anyone who needs it with no questions asked to why they need it.  Simply get in contact, I'll put you name on the Extension List and that extra time is yours.  Once all names come in (or the deadline is reached) I will finish up my work and get the zine out. I will not be sending out any further reminder (because I’ll forget sorry)

Why don’t you make the Extension time public?

Because I can’t finish up the zine if extra stuff comes in at the last second - I get jittery enough with a deadline so this is how I manage my stress

Sure why not? If the community still wants them I’ll keep compiling them every six months.  I’ve seen what us nerds can do!

Huevember Day 3 - Clover - VG Clones

These three are characters from @edge-lorde’s comics. They don’t have names, but they each have distinct personalities and are easily distinguishable from one another. I couldn’t decide which one to draw, so I ended up doing the trio together! Besides, it’s day 3, so what day would be more perfect for a trio?

Huevember Day 2 - Spring Green - Daffodil

Sweet Daffodil belongs to @theleeema. I did my best to capture his gentleness, with a hint of sadness (but not too much).

The slight green tint to his skin was a last minute experiment, but I really liked how it turned out, so I kept it.

Huevember Day 25 - Tangerine - Rowanberry

My friendly adventurer! Rowanberry was the first of my Spacebats to find a name, and he was ready to jump out into the world well before I was planning to share any clone stories. He loves to travel and meet new people. His hair isn’t quite this shade of orange, but I have to stick to the challenge rules. At least for now.

Drawing this happy guy was a definite mood-booster. Today was exhausting

Huevember Day 24 - Orange - 2-17

Please forgive any scale issues xD I don’t draw horses very often…

This is 2-17 (group 2, number 17, but it’s pronounced two-one-seven), one of the Faithful Brethren that clung to the doctrines of Prime following the Great Disconnect. For reasons beyond his control, he is eventually expelled from this group, and adopted by the Spacebats of Dryl. He’s still in the process of adjusting.

The horse is Sunbeam. She’s just an ordinary Etherian mare, rescued from a barn somewhere by Swift Wind. Few things coax a smile from 2-17, but Sunbeam can.

I am so excited to be drawing Joy again, now that I’m getting a better idea of what he looks like and how he accessorizes! I’m still studying how to get his particular smile right.

Huevember Day 15 - Plum - Sylvie

Sylvie is my first spacebat to take up needlecrafts, spreading a love of crochet by teaching as many of his brothers that want to learn. His enthusiasm blossoms into a general love of making clothing and other soft accessories. He can come across as shy at first, but he actually likes to meet new people and try novel experiences.

Sylvie is a sweetheart that does his best to help those around him feel a little happier. He loves to give hugs (but he will ask first).

Huevember Day 13 - Violet - Laurel

Laurel is my Whispering Woods wanderer. He may be anxious, but he has a powerful curiosity too, and he is one of the friendliest of my Spacebats. Most of the time his nervousness gets channeled into extra energy. Laurel is a young one, hardly a few weeks old when he was sent to Etheria. In some ways, this makes his adjustment easier, but he still runs into difficulties.

Though Laurel is excited by the idea of personal expression, his lack of trust in himself makes him indecisive. His interpretation of doing “whatever you want” with his hair is leaving it to be messed by the wind.

I don’t want to say too much about him yet, because I have a lot of Laurel’s story written and I’d like to keep some secrets (for now).

Huevember Day 10 - Cerulean - Nav

Nav is a rebel clone that belongs to @tallysgreatestfan. She was a navigator and anorganic chemist for the Horde, before being captured by a people known as the Mazebuilders. While in captivity, she slowly developed a sense of self and a desire to be free to live as her own person. Now she works to free fellow clones from the Horde, with help from Lirwa, her Mazebuilder wife.

Nav actually has a yellow color scheme, but I thought blue would fit with a motif of stars and planets.

Some spacebat paintings!

Yudi, Joy, and Glum, from Through a Mirror, Darkly by @soranis-sunshadow <3

Yudi is having a bit of an existential crisis, as one does. I wanted to capture a beautiful but eerie vibe with the background, and took inspiration from one of my favorite manga series Mushishi (specifically the story ‘the scented darkness’ from volume 10). I did debate making his portrait more grumpy, but this was the vibe that struck me, so I went with it.

Next is Joy with his death chrysanthemum! I tried to portray one of those too-intense-to-be-natural smiles. As soon as I learned Joy likes floral scarves, I had to add one in XD I decided to give Joy and Glum a sun and moon motif, while keeping Joy’s sufficiently dark.

Finally there’s Glum, who looks like he’s struggling to put up with the amount of flowers I gave him. Sure I went a bit overboard, but I wanted that moon shape!

I definitely have more spacebat paintings in the works, both of my bats and fan art for others. I hope you enjoy them!

Huevember Day 11 - Cobalt - Little Brother the Welder

The adventurous Little Brother the Welder was the first of @doberaptor’s characters I met. It was a passage I read completely out of context, and even though I had no idea who he was at the time, or anything about his situation, it felt like I was looking out a window into a vast world I couldn’t look away from. I love his bravery and his openness, even though it comes with a not so great sense of self preservation.

Here he is likely hanging down from a beam somewhere, untroubled by the very real danger of a fall.

Huevember Day 12 - Indigo

A fairly simple one today, but that fits Indigo well. And why not put him on the prompt that shares his name? Indigo is one of my pod technicians that worked in Reconditioning on the Velvet Glove, and he chose to stay in the closest line of work he could when he was brought to Etheria — assisting with the medical care of his injured brethren.

Indigo chose his name because he finds dark blue a pleasing color. His eyes are a soft orange, which can lead to confusion when people assume to meet a blue-eyed clone from his name. On occasion he will dye his hair a blue shade, but more often than not, it’s kept plain, and gathered up in a covered bun (because he likes the ends to be neat).

Huevember Day 8 - Sky Blue - Caspar

Another one of my bats. Some of you may have already met Cas in Portraits, but for those that haven’t, they are one of my helpers when it comes to the spacebats that have a hard time coping. They are very concerned with watching out for their fellow Brothers, making sure everyone is taking breaks, eating, sleeping, and all those necessities. They also enthusiastically embrace self-expression.

Caspar’s favorite color is yellow, and they love dressing in bright clothes. Sometimes they dye their hair yellow as well. Most of the time it’s tied up in a bun.

Also, a note on pronouns before I forget — I don’t see the Spacebats as strictly male, though they use he/him. My personal headcanon of their biology and how they conceptualize themselves is more complicated than that. The diversity of gender expression on Etheria will allow them to discover aspects of themselves they were never allowed to before. Cas is fine with he/him, especially among Brothers, but they/them is preferred.
