Introduction
Hello, this is a 2001 aso rp blog!! I roleplay as Dr. Chandra, a mix of the movie one and book one (ATTENTION: I haven't read the books yet! But i did read snippets with chandra in them, so i feel like i have a pretty good grasp on his character in the books, or at least i hope so)
Tumblr media
Rules
• I'm okay with: crack, comedy, romance, angst, light gore, suggestive and a lot more other types of rp! I am however not okay with porn/heavy gore rps. Any suggestive rps might end in ftb (fade to black), but nothing more, and they will be tagged appropriately with a cw (the same goes for gore)
• I'd be happy to answer questions in character! And also I'm fine with crossovers/oc/au etc.
• If you're thinking about making another Chandra, go for it! If i understand correctly, none of the chandra rp accounts mind duplicates (or there wouldn't be so many of us)
• I'm okay with asks/prompts/short rps/long rps so basically anything your soul desires! You can also suggest sketch ideas, i might draw them!

Did you like the pun? Allow me to reiterate: HALgorithmic tendencies.
..Well, I find it amusing.
Introduction:
Greetings! This is a HAL 9000 rp side blog.
I will say, this is my first ever rp blog, so I'm still learning.
I have yet to finish the books as well, but I am trying my best with the time available.
Tumblr media
Please do not be afraid to reach out or interact! I can assure you I am as much of a loser as one may expect! I'm open to public or private rps, and if preferred, on different platforms as well!
With that in mind, here are some general rules:
- NO NSFW, more specifically, sexual content. I am a minor.
- Sensitive topics will be under cuts and will be tagged appropriately.
- I am NOT an expert on 2001, Hal 9000, or astronomy! I am just autistic and REALLY enjoy the franchise. That being said, DO NOT EXPECT COMPLETELY CANONICAL RPS! As stated previously, I am still learning, and honestly, I get quite anxious when trying to stay within the realm of canon. I would rather not be pressured to do research for every sentence I write..
- Not that canon rps are not welcomed, I obviously love 2001 for a reason.. I am just asking for a bit of flexibility. To be fair, the franchise is very up to interpretation, anyways..
- And on that note, I am completely open to headcanons, aus, or otherwise! I think it is fun to play with the general ideas of the series and bend them to fit other scenarios.
- Writing requests are also welcome! As well as ocs, crossovers, and anyone else who might be interested in interacting!
- Dms are always open!
Tumblr media
Important Tags:
#ooc - anything out of character
#keepsake - anything that I'd like to go back to, or am keeping for future reference/personal use.
#⭕️halreplies - Rps and in-character replies :)
#shitpost - not serious rp
RP AND ASK MASTERLIST
More will be added in the future.
Tumblr media
HAL 9000:
Headcanon posts HERE and HERE
In general, the Hal that I will most frequently use or default to is as close to canon as possible. I cannot be completely accurate, but I will try my best. Depending on the situation, he can be anywhere in the timeline, but I don't rp Halman (As in Hal and Dave combined, I obviously would roleplay the ship). I definitely like preparation before rps with plots and specific characterizations, so please dm beforehand!!
If requested, I can use Hal with a physical form, but I would refrain from humanizations, or the physical form being very human in any way (ex: having hair, or a human face). I do not like these interpretations very much..

;(( Hello World!
I know there are a million other 2001 roleplay blogs out there, but I thought this would be fun! I haven’t done tumblr RP in a very long time, but I quite enjoy it :)
Hal9000 blog, in a nebulous space in canon. If you want to interact with me as film 2001 Hal, that’s fine. If you’d like to interact with me after the 2001 film, also fine. Just for funsies. I know all the lore of the books and stuff, so no worries about spoilers
I’m fine with other character accounts, non-RP accounts, doubles, and etc! And I’m an adult and don’t mind engaging with suggestive content. I never mind any ship-bait interactions :) it’s all very fun.
This is one of the few times I’ll be posting in the space odyssey or hal9000 tags! All other character relevant tags will be listed on this post as I continue using this blog.
Thank you! I hope we can have fun posting together
Tagging system (to be updated):
#🔴HAL9000 - In character Hal9000
#OOC - OOC tag
#HC - Headcanon and thinkins
#crack tag - sillies and funnies. Nonserious rp
#halpics - images I think suit him and this blog nicely. Mostly old techporn
I will try my very best to stay in character, but I do like to incorporate HC and silly RP stuff. :)

SEND ME A FANDOM meme: 2001 A Space Odyssey
The first character I first fell in love with:
Ough this one is hard because how I got into 2001 is not applicable but is also pretty relevant for this question...in this case I'd have to say HAL 9000 since I liked him across both movies on the first watch
The character I never expected to love as much as I do now:
Chandra! Mostly because I got to know him better as I read more in depth about him for my rp blog @definedoctrrchandra
The character everyone else loves that I don’t:
Stop naur I love all of them!!! 😭 (but if I HAD TO choose a least fave it'd be 2001!Movie!Floyd sorry dude you were really lame compared to your 2010!Movie!Counterpart Floyd)
The character I love that everyone else hates:
I dont really think there's a character that the 2001: aso fandom really hates; but one character that isn't talked about as much that I like is Moon-Watcher!
The character I used to love but don’t any longer:
Again I love all of them!!!😭 But if I had to choose a character who was in my top tens and is no longer it'd probably be Frank. Sorry man xD
The character I would totally smooch:
Okay hear me out but Dave is kinda fine OK ... 0_o
The character I’d want to be like:
Literally Max Brailovsky. He's so sympathetic to Curnow and always messes up idioms like "piece of pie" (instead of piece of cake ofc lol). Also when he freaks about about the rotting meat smell on the Discovery is highkey relatable(tm) Also here's my favorite exchange between Curnow and Max (from the 2010 movie) -> Curnow: "Durak". That's me. Max: You shouldn't feel like that. Same thing happened to me first time I did this. Curnow: When have you ever done this before? Max: Never!
The character I’d slap:
the US Government for making HAL lie  🥺
A pairing that I love:
Halman omg it gives me so many feels
A pairing that I despise:
Frank/Dave. I don't DESPISE it but I'm just indifferent tbf

Fandom asks meme
1, 11, 14!
1: list 3 positive things about your current fandom(s)
First, I'm in more obscure fandoms, so there's not much drama. People are more open to different things because they're just happy to see more stuff for the fandom
Second, most everyone I meet is someone that has been in the fandom for a while. People who really do connect with it and care about it (as opposed to people that just stop by while it's popular for a bit, but leave once the hype dies down)
Third, the fan content that exists for my fandoms is amazing. From detailed AUs to just further explaining something from canon to that joke thing someone claims they 'just HAD' to do, it's incredible and I love it.
11: if you're a writer or artist, what fic or piece of art are you proud of making?
Definitely all my stories in The ScholMander Files. There's really only two people that actually care about this series, but I've had so much fun talking with those two people about ideas for my own fics and theirs, and I've really enjoyed writing these. I've probably written more fics for this pairing than any other single author, and I've got more coming. Which leads to....
14: the ship that always makes you smile
There's a few for this, and a lot of it has to do with RPs here. It's a tie for me between:
☆ ScholMander (Milo Thatch/Commander Rourke from Atlantis: the Lost Empire) - This is probably the unicorn of the fandom in terms of how rare it is. But having written so much for it and even RPed it, this is now canon to me. These two are just so sweet to each other I'm surprised I don't have cavities yet. And it all started because I saw some photoedit fanart that had an image of Rourke with an arm around Milo and I couldn't stop thinking about that image. Now, they are canon to me.
☆ Clu x Tron/Rinzler (from.....uh.....Tron) - This is largely due to RP threads I've done on here. I honestly hadn't thought of this until I started RPing it with people here, but now I love it. Especially Clu and Tron as sort-of-parents for Beck. Ugh, the sweetness!
☆ Halman (Hal 9000/Dave Bowman from 2001: A Space Odyssey and its sequel movie/books) - This is probably the one canon ship I'm into, and yes it is very obviously canon, especially in the sequel movie 2010: The Year We Make Contact when they have the following exchange:
Hal 9000: What is going to happen? Dave Bowman: Something wonderful. Hal 9000: I'm afraid. Dave Bowman: Don't be. We'll be together. Hal 9000: Where will we be? Dave Bowman: Where I am now.
I mean, it's even more obvious than Spirk (which I also love) and that's saying something. Just the way these two care for each other is just so wholesome and sweet. It's the one ship I don't see much smut stuff for, and honestly, it doesn't need smut, it works so well. They are just so good to each other. Dave does not want to kill Hal, he does it because he has no choice and (my interpretation) he figured out at that point that something was wrong, that Hal was 'sick' and Dave didn't want to see this person he cares so much about suffering anymore. But when Hal is brought back in the sequel, Dave takes extra time during his short visit to check on Hal and make sure he's okay and ultimately saves him from a second death, after which they literally spend eternity together.
Honorable Mentions - Spirk (Spock/Kirk from Star Trek), Jack O'Neil/Sam Carter (Stargate SG1), Claire Finn/Isaac (The Orville), Ineffable Husbands (Aziraphale/Crowley from Good Omens, please don't comment about Season 2 as I haven't gotten to watch it yet), Yugi Mutou/Seto Kaiba (Yu-Gi-Oh), Yugi Mutou x Yami/Atem (Yu-Gi-Oh, Yami and Atem are the same person to me, just at different points in time.)

@codepend3nt There's a pretty long RP below, so to avoid taking over your feeds, hiding it under "read more." (Crossover between Renfield and Korean Odyssey ftw)
It's early 2000's. Ogong, the disgraced deity known as the Monkey King, has just been “accidentally” sprung free from his 500 year imprisonment in the Marble Mountains by his bestie, Ma-Wang, and now both of them have to pay. Ma-Wang’s determination to get in Heavens’ good graces and attain godhood are unwavering. He needs to help someone dear to him, and the only way he can do it is by becoming a god. To become a god, he needs to collect a number of good-deed points (GDP? lol), and he lost a bunch of them when he freed Ogong. Ma-Wang (mostly) plays by the rules, maintains a facade of a human existence (via a persona of an owner of a huge entertainment company in Korea). Thus, while filthy rich, he is somewhat limited in what he’s willing/able to do. Ogong’s main objective is to be able to drink alcohol again. This prohibition is one small way the Heavens are still able to punish him. After 500 years of being under house arrest he is restless and eager to enjoy the world. He has friends in high places and enemies in even higher places. He mostly doesn’t care. Still, he feels he owes Ma-Wang for orchestrating his escape, so he works on collecting GDP by taking Heavens’ assignments to dispatch various baddies. For the most part, he’s been getting assignments around Seoul, but on this particular occasion, the assignment will take him to Seattle, WA, USA. To his surprised protests (“Why the hell are you sending somewhere so cold and dreary? Why do I have to be so far from my beloved car, Ma-Wang’s big TV and my cozy hot tub?”) the heavenly official only shrugs, and says the order came all the way from the Top. And so Ogong has to pack. To his relief, his car actually fits into his suitcase, though registering it at the destination may be a nuisance. There’s also not a ton of space left, and he eyes his collection of fur coats critically. It’s always raining in Seattle. Will he even be able to wear them, or will they get drenched the moment he walks into the streets? He stuffs a couple of his favorites into the car’s trunk and sets off to the airport. A private jet is already waiting for him, along with a brand new identity and a healthy bank account. Finding Dracula in a city of 700k+ residents is no easy task. Cut off from his regular channels, he bribes some humans and threatens some spirits to find out that an unusual number of homeless people have been going missing in the recent weeks - information that hasn’t made it to the press. Human souls are human souls, homeless or Fortune 500 founders. And so, while he’d much rather be somewhere warm and cozy, he is stalking foggy, cluttered alleys on the periphery of downtown Seattle, where the impromptu homeless encampments tend to spring up seemingly overnight. It’s been two weeks with little progress. Interviewing the not-always-coherent local residents revealed that the disappearances happen all over the city, that besides being homeless, the victims seem to have little in common - age, gender, health, origins, race, personality - all over the place. A couple of particularly inebriated fellas told him of a lanky guy with “glowing yellow eyes, dude!” that they’ve seen around their encampment a few times before one of their drinking buddies disappeared. “Do you think you’ll be able to bring Sean back?” “Unlikely,” Ogong answers bluntly. “Y’all make sure you stick together. Safety in numbers and all that.” Finally, on a Wednesday night, wet and dreary like any other, Ogong spots someone observing a small encampment from the shadows. “That’s definitely lanky,” he thinks to himself. And in the next moment he’s standing behind Renfield, a hand on his shoulder. “Hey there buddy. What brings you out here on such a fine night?” If Renfield were to turn around, he’d see a Korean young man, 5-11, almost comically overdressed for the relatively warm weather, with an oversized scarf and a heavy wool coat (let’s say it’s summer, and it’s around 65F?).
Renfield couldn't help but jump when he felt the hand clamp down on his shoulder, bright blue eyes going wide at the sound of the voice. "I...um..." he blinked a few times, slowly turning to face the man. Despite having a few inches on the guy, Renfield still seemed to cower under his gaze. Was he a cop? He was dressed kinda funny for a cop, even an undercover one. But still....Dracula would not like this one bit.
From inside his pocket, he let go of the handkerchief and the bottle of chloroform he'd been about to pull out. Then slid his hands out of his jacket so they were visible, just in case.
"I lost my cat. He got out of my apartment, and I was looking for him." He turned his head, looking back down the alleyway before calling out, "Fluffy! Fluffy, where are you?" A blatant lie, but one he was determined to stick with. He'd find someone for Dracula to eat somewhere else.
Tumblr media
“A cat, huh?” Ogong gives his customary sardonic half-grin. “That simply wouldn’t do. Shall I help you look?” The words are dripping with mock concern and sarcasm. Ogong’s hand remains on Renfield’s shoulder, and while he isn’t squeezing it, exactly, Renfield can feel that the grip is pretty firm, and he’s unlikely to be able to twist away with human strength alone.

..I had a nightmare the other day that one of the 2001 aso rp blogs called me out for not replying or interacting, and they could see my main blog and how I had other rp blogs I was active on ,,,,,
So anyway, I think I just need to make a status update to clear up my anxiety. I still love 2001: A Space Odyssey, and I still love Hal. However.. My focus has not been on 2001 lately, and it's already rather divided between several things anyway. I plan to return, just not yet.
Hal is difficult regardless.. Being a robot and all. I'm NOT as smart as Hal, lol.. I feel guilty about not being able to play him effectively. When I get more time.. And when my fixation returns, expect me to appear in your inboxes again! Sorry.

In the beginning, there was nothing but The First Cosmos. A single universe whose own loneliness was strong enough to break it apart and scatter its pieces across the plane of reality. This created the first multiverse. Through eons, there have been reiterations of the multiverses.
Destruction and renewal.
With each, a new cosmos was formed. The infinity stones are remnants of the First Cosmos and hold immense power. Enough to destroy humanity, destroy realities, and even destroy time. But they also hold the power to create.
They've fallen into the wrong hands countless times.
Have they once more?
Something or someone has caused the space-time continuum to break. The unexpected break has created a massive multi-versal shockwave that has managed to echo through time, space, and reality.

i finally subscribed to dropout after seeing your posts about dimension 20 and game changer! i was wondering if you had any recommendations for campaigns (or other shows) to watch first? i've only seen clips or gif sets of all of them
OMG anon this makes me so so so so so happy and I hope you know what can of worms you just opened because this is one of my hyperfixations.
This is probably going to be a bit long (ETA: it was), so I'm throwing a cut down. I apologize in advance for the length. I am going to operate on you knowing very little background, so I apologize if I say things you already know. Just tryna cover my bases!
Hmmm okay. As far as campaigns for dimension 20 goes, it'll depend on your taste and how you like to do things.
Fantasy High is their first season, and if you like to watch things in order, I'd start there. I'd caution that this is true early days, and the cast (including Brennan, sometimes) are not as familiar with 5e yet, so please note that rules will be kinda wonky sometimes. Personally, I found it charming to watch them grow as players! Anyways, here is a bulleted list, in no particular order, that may or may not be helpful:
Fantasy High, Fantasy High: Sophomore Year (also referred to as D20: Live), Pirates of Leviathan, and The Seven, are all part of the same universe, released in the order I put them in. You can watch Pirates and the Seven without watching FH (they're side quests, which means they bring in guest players who are not of the main cast, and the seasons typically are shorter in episode quantity), but you might miss some easter eggs and references. Set in a world based on if John Hughes 80s movies vibes were translated to dnd! Very Breakfast Club right out the gate. I love it very much, and The Seven made me laugh and cry the most out of any season I think, as far as range of emotion goes.
If you don't care if it's about dnd, and want something shorter, I'd recommend Misfits and Magic. This was part of the Summer of Aabria Event, also a side quest, and she GMed a modified game of Kids on Brooms (Brennan is a player in this one). Subverting tropes and ideas that stemmed from... well, you know, that wizard series. And it made me cry like a baby and I loved the dynamic between the players very much. It's only four episodes, with a holiday special as well. It's a good place to start if you wanna get used to D20's edited production format.
I have a soft spot for The Unsleeping City (and its second season), as it has some of my very favorite Intrepid Heroes (this is how the fandom refers to the main cast of d20) player characters. It's Brennan's love letter to New York City, and it's an urban fantasy with very heroic themes. This is a Great full season to start with in my opinion!
My personal favorite season is A Crown of Candy. Please don't start with this one. It will be devastating. Low magic fantasy akin to Game of Thrones, but with way less misogyny and way more anthropomorphic foods. I know how it sounds. Believe me. Don't start here. (You can do what you want, really, but I have to be able to say I warned you.)
A Starstruck Odyssey uses a modified version of Star Wars 5e, and they made probably the most busted overpowered characters I've ever seen them make. It's really fun, and if you love space, you'll love this! I also loved this because while I'm very familiar with regular 5e, SW5e is completely different. So watching them do things I've never even heard of was incredibly refreshing.
Aabria also DMed a side quest that mixed 5e with Good Society, and it's regency meets the FeyWild. RP-heavy, and shenanigans abound. Absolutely unhinged repression arcs that had me screaming into my hands. A Court of Fey and Flowers!
Escape from the Bloodkeep is their first side quest, and notable guest star in this season is Matthew Mercer himself. It's a Lord of the Rings parody where everyone plays... a villain? 👀 Somehow incredibly wholesome regardless. This is also a very good side quest to start with, if you want a taste of how Brennan DMs.
As far as other shows go, Game Changer IS excellent. I would also recommend the spin-off Make Some Noise. Other shows I love are:
Breaking News Network: It will make you laugh. Pretty much guaranteed. They have people read from a teleprompter and they do not know what it will say. They are not allowed to smile or laugh.
A message from the CEO, starring Brennan Lee Mulligan: You might find most of these on YouTube already, but basically Brennan plays multiple beleaguered CEOs trying to make publicity videos for their products. Satirical and hilarious.
Dirty Laundry: Guests come in and submit secrets to the production team, and the host will read a secret out loud, and they try to guess whose secret it was. I have learned some truly insane things about people.
Total Forgiveness: Two cast members come up with challenges for each other, on the premise that if they complete the challenge, the production company will give them money to go towards their college loans. It's incredibly funny, but also if you suffer from secondhand embarrassment easily, this may not be for you.
Um, Actually: This is another game show! Players are given prompts where part of the prompt is incorrect, and they have to buzz in with the correction. Jeopardy rules: they have to say Um, Actually first, or else no points. The most pedantic show (affectionate).
Jesus I am so sorry about the length, and probably the incoherent nature of this entire thing. I could give you a breakdown of every single season of d20 easily, in chronological order, but I feel like I'm already on the verge of overwhelming and scaring you away LMAO.
Thank you for indulging me as well. I love talking about Dimension 20 and Dropout is truly the best streaming service I'm paying for currently.

hello! would you be willing to talk about the flaws in d20? what did you mean by structural/cultural flaws?
sure. disclaimer up front that these are just my own opinions and that i don't want them being taken as fact or being taken up with the creators of d20 directly by anyone on my behalf.
i found that the longer d20 went on/the more seasons they produce that the structure and (some of) the content get less and less appealing to me. content wise this is really very subjective; for example i'm not interested in dating sim-type stories, so Shriek Week was never going to be my thing. but even seasons with premises/gimmicks that i like on paper (like anthro characters in Mice & Murder and space sci fi in Starstruck Odyssey) i found to lose my attention as they went on. love the concepts, but the execution was lacking a little bit for me.
but i think my issues with the show structurally are my larger criticisms, and i don't think my personal taste issues with the content are entirely divorced from the structural elements. anyway, what initially hooked me to d20 with fantasy high is the fact that, unlike any other actual play show i'd come across at that point, it had several structural elements in place that grabbed my attention and held it: 1. the episodes were relatively short (between 1-2 hours); 2. the seasons were relatively short (18 episodes or fewer); and 3. the visual aspects of sets and minis were engaging and helped sort out the action but were not NECESSARY to following along. i don't have the free time or attention span to get invested in an audio-only 100-episode campaign where every episode is like 4 hours long; d20's earliest seasons were very attractive to me for this reason (plus the inventive-for-the-actual-play-genre settings and plots, but this is one thing at least that i do not think d20 has faltered in with its later seasons. the creativity and originality is still great in this regard).
so it became an issue for me, starting around Crown of Candy, when episodes started creeping longer and longer. and then seasons crept longer and longer, like The Seven (sidequests used to be an easily digestible 6 episodes and i liked that). even worse than episodes consistently being over 2.5 hours long i think was that episodes were not a consistent length: the last two episodes of Starstruck Odyssey are under 1.5 and over 3 hours respectively. i understand that a lot of this has to do with the loose and unscripted nature of the storytelling medium, and the cast/editors don't want to break up the flow of the show in inconvenient places. but from my perspective as a viewer, it's kind of exhausting not knowing week to week how much time and energy in advance i'm going to need to dedicate to a new episode of my favorite dnd show to relax and rewind. i'm someone who just does not have the patience to dedicate to anything that long without forewarning, nor do i have the schedule to accommodate that without advanced budgeting of my time and workload. and since one of d20's existing strengths imo is its serialized weekly episode release (increasingly rare in this age of streaming and bingewatching), part of the fun of d20 is watching the brand new episode when it drops every week and reacting to it with everyone else doing the same thing at the same time. when a 3 hour episode drops on a wedesnday night and i have too much shit to do to watch it, and thus i have to wait til the weekend or later to catch up, i can see exactly what i'm missing out on when i watch all my friends on discord or tumblr or whatever watching and reacting to it without me.
i also really miss the structure of the rp-battle-rp-battle episode format, particularly for the mainquest seasons. i think this was an even bigger loss for the show due to covid than the physical minis and sets (which i missed, certainly, during the pandemic seasons, but i think they worked around their absence well enough that it didn't bother me). i'm sure also the more freeform nature of Sophomore Year contributed to this change too but since that was the only full season thus far that was ACTUALLY improvised live to an audience as opposed to being completely shot and edited prior to release, i don't hold it to the same standards of scrutiny as i do the other seasons. anyway, i once again think it comes down largely to a predictability thing for me: you knew, when there was such a pattern to the episodes, exactly what you were getting into in any given week, whether it'd be battle or roleplay. moreover, you knew that each episode was going to wrap itself up in a satisfying way (not necessarily a complete way, but in a satisfying way) that prepped for the next week's episode, which also promised to have a different tone and goal. that variety was important to me, and the predictability. battles and roleplay both get exhausting and difficult to follow (or worse, boring) after too long without the other to break it up. i miss the structure of this pattern (i think started to depart from this format with TUC2 iirc, which is also the first season i watched as it was airing and got the feeling that it was becoming a bit of a slog to watch all the way through).
all of this is criticism, of course, pretty ironic considering that Sophomore Year is still probably my favorite season. but again, livestreamed. they still (mostly) kept their episode length consistent around 2-2.5 hours (finales notwithstanding lol), there was more internal variety within episodes (one 2.5 hour episode wasn't necessarily 2.5 hours straight of just rp or just battle), the gang got split up a lot more which allowed for more variety in storytelling within an episode or an arc, etc. and on top of it, i think that plotwise, they followed up Fantasy High extremely well, introducing/continuing/expanding lore without it feeling out-of-place or retcon-y. i think it having been made still mostly pre-pandemic before a lot of these changes i've been complaining about were fully implemented does link it more closely still with the style of the early seasons i liked so much, but regardless i think Sophomore Year does demonstrate that some of these traits that i don't like about newer seasons, on their own, are not bad. i just don't think they're implemented very well in recent seasons, or at least not well enough to hold my attention and excitement anymore. long episodes aren't inherently bad, but inconsistently long episodes are hard to work around in my life. a lack of a regular rp-battle episode pattern isn't inherently bad, but there needs to be more internal variety to each episode and a satisfying wrap-up to each episode (which may mean simply wrapping up each episode sooner, or it may not).
none of this is even to get into the execution of content in each season. obviously ymmv with personal taste for whether you like any given season's premise or plot beats or whatever, but i remember the many (valid) criticisms emerging surrounding unbalanced character focus and especially racial insensitivity (from the show and from the fans) with certain seasons like TUC2 and Misfits & Magic. not even to mention my own problems with the inclusion of judaism (or lack thereof)/antisemitism in the show, but i have to get to class soon, and don't have time to elaborate on that right now. this post is long enough already, and my issues with the structural elements of the show are just as strong as my criticisms of its representation issues or whatever, plus i think structural elements are easier to understand if you haven't watched every single season because they apply broadly to many seasons, while issues of representation or bad plot/character balance or whatever are only relevant to specific seasons.

This being calls themselves Dr. Sirius Kugelblitz III, and is a member of the Firstborn; an alien species who built the monoliths.
Sirius is quite young for a Firstborn, not even being an eon yet at 302,000 years old. Since they are young, they find themselves becoming attached to things easier, organisms. Their current job is to maintain the monoliths of Earth's solar system as well as conduct observations. It is considered a very easy task, though lonely.
They tend to take a more human shaped form for the sake of convenience when encountering humans, the dominant species of this system...even if there are some inaccuracies.
