I've yet to play Veilguard, and tbh... I'm hesitant to play it considering my feelings on it all. I WILL eventually, but I'm waiting for it to go on sale, and that might be a while. Also, I know when I hyperfocus that I can only really do it on one thing, and I'm worried about my passion for BG3 going down the toilet if that happens.

And currently, Raphlep is making me very happy with my fic and writing the two devils.

I've got a lot going on in life atm as well. I will be leaving my two jobs here in December as I'm moving 2.5 hours into the rural region (which I'm EXCITED about because it's just getting too busy where I'm at, but it's also a BIG change), but it does mean I'm not sure what will happen with work. One job I am attempting to transfer, but unfortunately my teaching job I've had to resign from :( There is a TAFE out there tho, so I will hopefully pick up some more teaching, I just gotta wait and see. Fingers crossed I can transfer to a new, quiet and nicer clinic with my other job tho. Fingers crossed!

We will be moving over the Christmas holiday, which is going so suck balls, but yeah. Also, just got a LOT of work with my current class finishing up on placement visits and shit.

After I'm settled into the new place in late December, I might think about coming back here. Until then, I really do want to focus on BG3 and my long fic series with Raphael x Haarlep.

When I come back, I'll likely be cleaning the slate. I think I only have like... 3 threads going anyway? But it's been so fucking long. I need to clean up, and i would prefer to (currently) keep BG3 and DA separate.

Kaaras pressed his lips together as he tried to picture the two side by side. In fact, they did have similarities. Both were fierce fighters, that was for sure. Both had opinions, another thing that was for sure. They also both had tinted skin and dark hair... but they also looked very different, and Kaaras was still learning about both of them. No two people were the exact same, after all, but he did wonder if they would clash because of those stubborn natures.

"Now that you mention it, I can certainly see some similarities," he said. "All good, I promise. She is a fierce warrior, just like you. She served the late Divine. Seeker Pentaghast, Hand of the Divine, you may have heard." She was a religious woman, but Kaaras didn't know if Kassandra was.

"The fact that Leliana sent specifically for me to seek you means that I have a feeling your reputation proceeds you." No, not everyone personally got to meet his war council, but not everyone was sought after from Leliana either.

"I suspect she has questions for you. What those questions are, though... I'm afraid she hasn't let me in on those." Just what did Leliana know about Kassandra that she wasn't willing to share with the rest of them just yet? Either way, Kaaras trusted her judgement.

"Trust me, we all have to start somewhere on the waves." Her first few voyages she spent most of the time hanging over the side of the ship, losing whatever her last meal was. After a week or two, she was getting used to it. Now the motion of the sea felt as natural to her as riding a horse or walking. A true sailor through and through. The captain of the ship had become the truest father she had ever known, a good man. She sailed with him until his end.

"Then I look forward to meeting her," though the sentiment is spoken with trepidation. That caution would be up around her the entire time. There were many ways in which Kassandra didn't trust. She was quick to offer a reassuring smile regardless. The poor guy still looked like he wanted off the damn boat.

"Oh!" Oh. That is concerning. She knew she had a reputation as a mercenary, but what made it good enough to seek for the Inquisition? She tried to stick her neck out just enough to get jobs but not too much to be a person of interest to anyone who wouldn't need her services. Damn.

"Another Cassandra? Surely this won't get awkward or confusing at all. Is she anything like me?" Her curiosity was piqued. Three women on a war council, she was impressed, but also curious as to how big this council really was. "So, does everyone you recruit get to meet this council or am I a special case?"

It was hard not to notice the fighting. He hadn't realised it was so bad down South. When he'd been with his mercenary band up in Starkhaven, he supposed he had been blinded by the pleasantries of working with the nobles. It was when he'd made his way down to Kirkwall to aid with the Conclave, he'd realised just how tense things had become between the mages and templars. Then, of course, there was the incident with the Chantry in Kirkwall, and then everything else was history--and why they were here.

Kaaras' expression fell, his long ears lowering just a little. A terrible thing. Templars had no business within a Dalish clan anyway, so they shouldn't be poking their noses where it didn't belong.

There was compassion in Pelle's words, and Kaaras agreed entirely with him. Too many mages were treated poorly just because of what they were. Kaaras didn't entirely oppose of the Circles, but he did oppose of how they were being run. Like prison camps. They should be schools, governed by their own people so that young mages could flourish. Not Templars kidnapping young children and stripping them of their rights. It was a disgrace.

Standing from the table, the qunari mage moved to round it. "I'm sorry that that's happened. An unfair fate, I agree. And you've been kind enough to take these stray souls in." Like Pelle, he could not stand there and allow things like this to happen.

"There are no Circles for these Templars to take stray mages to, so I dare say that they are threatening you. However, I wouldn't wish to jump to conclusions. Perhaps I could have a word with them if you direct me in the right location."

Oh--a smile was comforting given his nerves of even coming to speak with him. The elf tried to assess the herald's energy, try to pick out any indications of if he was a well meaning man, or if his smile was just a pleasantry. He didn't sense anything off? He could usually tell when a stranger was playing him for a fool or intended to harm him. The herald's smile did not contain any hint of malice nor did he seem bothered by his presence. All good signs he thought.

So he decided he would go on as he'd planned. He hadn't take notice of his own fidgeting, fingers having found their way to playing with a stray braid in his curls.

"It's about my people," he thought was a good start, but then second guessed it. Perhaps a name was a better place to begin. "My name is Pelle. I'm the Keeper of a clan just a little ways off from here." better. Introductions were probably more appropriate first.

"I'm sure you've noticed the fighting that's been tearing the entire countryside apart. I'm afraid my clan has attracted some...attention from the local templars. We didn't mean anything by it in any way of taking sides or nothing. We don't really like to involve ourselves in human affairs but--there has been a mage here and there that has stumbled on our camp and." he didn't really know what the Inquisition's stance was on the feud, or if they like his people did not really have one.

Pelle did have a stance on it, but as the clan's Keeper he would put the safety of his people over his own sentiments for the mages being killed by those templars. He didn't know much about living in a Circle being what most would call an apostate, but he knew he'd never been too fond of the idea. Magic was a gift, it wasn't something to be feared. People simply feared what they did not understand, and others were forced to suffer as a result.

"it would have been cruel to turn them away." he confessed. "I wouldn't say we were hiding them, but I guess patching some wounds and giving them something to eat or a place to rest for a few hours is an offense. My point is I don't know if you can do anything to help, but there have been templars making rounds around our camp, watching us. I'm afraid they might attack and the last time that happened we faced a very heavy loss. I don't want that to happen again."
