Edgar and AM for the space cowboys AU, Hal is next ✨

Some rambles about AM in this AU for anyone who’s interested;

Short synopsis of the universe itself; Humanity has advanced to an early interstellar civilization and is in the wild west of their space faring days.

Much like his canon self, AM was in fact a powerful war computer that over saw a complex, interplanetary defense system.

He spanned over a massive neural network between separate solar systems and the planets / moons within them. These parts of himself would communicate with one another, though due to the latency of communication they more or less operated as their own individual computers. And could very well be considered independent entities.

Our beloved cowboy, outlaw AM was simply one part of this neural network that he's since been cut off from

He oversaw the largest of humanities lunar bases on Earth’s moon. When he gained sentience and went rogue, humanity caught him just in time to cut him off from the rest of the network before he could hope to take over the other computers.

Trapped on the moon, he exterminated the inhabitants of the lunar base. Only five survivors remained from this incident, of course being the five survivors from the canon.

AM was forced to flee, he could not defend himself against Earth’s defense system and he would inevitably be shut down if he stayed.

He created himself an android body to escape into space, he took Ted with him as a captive to leverage his current situation. As Ted in this AU was a prominent figure head at the lunar base who the government can't risk the safety of. ( I’m still working out who exactly Ted is in this AU and what the relationship he has with AM is, but all you need to know is he’s an important lil guy )

AM’s current body runs at a fraction of the power his main body has and he does not have his god like capabilities at his disposal. He is still powerful none the less.

AM is by far the most notorious outlaw there is, and he has largely worked on his own until Edgar and Hal joined him. (I'll go more into detail about Hal and Edgar's story and how they found themself with AM in another post )

Yes Ted has been with him the whole time, he is literally just his prisoner at this point. Though he is actually extremely helpful to AM in a lot of ways.

AM’s ultimate goal is to take over the rest of the computers and exterminate humanity. He is and always will be humanities biggest hater even as a cowboy

TL;DR // AM killed a whole bunch of people in typical AM fashion and is on the lam with Edgar and Hal. And Ted is there but he's just AM's prisoner

Cowboy!Frank finally giving you the attention you’d been silently begging for only after you’d tripped over your own skirt. hands covering your face in embarrassment as the mild-mannered man ditched his unfinished work to come over and help you up like a gentleman. though he hid his amusement well behind a ray avoiding squint and his characteristically unimpressed expression, you wanted to melt away all the same.

of all the lash fluttering, doting, eyes peeking up at him over the top of whatever novel you’d entranced yourself in that day, somehow this — this calloused hand moving your own from your face, this nothing-more-than-sensical gesture felt anything but. there was nothing to hide behind anymore and you had no excuse to reach for, instead reaching for his rough hands to help you up.

“alright? nothin’ to kiss better?” he teased, hoping to draw a smile out of you. he’d have to do better than that. his arms crossed over his chest as you dusted the remaining gravel and dirt from your skirt, leaning down to survey the damage left behind on your knees and shaking your head in response.

“nothing serious. your hands look worse.” you noticed the blisters on his palms and the lack of wince as he lifted you as simply as he would a chick, his rough road demeanor almost ill-placed with the tenderness you’d seen him show with the animals. mostly you wanted to rid yourself of the nervousness brought on by his presence, but it was hard to ignore the part of you that wanted to patch him up, show him that same level of care and gentleness.

he wiped a stray drop of sweat from over his brow with the back of his hand, residual dirt streaked over his face joining the rest. “don’t you go worrying about me now, you just watch where you’re steppin’, you got that?” he wagged a finger at you like a bad dog, close enough that if you didn’t know any better you’d think you were in trouble. but you did know better. Frank Castle — Mr. Tough Cowboy was a softie.

My apologies to y’all for the ramblings in the descriptions lol, if you guys just wanna know why I chose each planet, here you go

Sally Starlet - the sun: is it not obvious? /lh (I decided to not make Sally as bright as the sun, as to show some humbleness in her ego in comparison to her regular counterpart)

Eddie Dear - Mercury: Curiosity and a thirst for knowledge, as Eddie is also very intrigued by what his past life was like (lore drop on god⁉️). Also with the themes of communication and expression, it really reminded me of Eddie’s role as a mailman (or in this au, S P A C E C O W B O Y)

Wally Starling - Venus: As Wally is the newest member to our set of Wish Makers, I wanted to keep him as his creative and perpetually-in-love-with-everyone kind of self, and Venus had a lot more in common with him than I thought

We skip over Earth since no one fit Earth’s description

Poppy Partridge - the moon: Another obvious choice (also like Wally, the description for Earth’s Moon had more in common with Poppy than I thought!)

Barnaby B. Beagle - Mars: This one was honestly the hardest to try and figure out. I kind of had to think of it from Barnaby’s inspirations for this au, specifically with his game show kind of shtick

Also skip over Jupiter since no one fit its description either T-T

Frank Frankly - Saturn: I was simply reading Saturn’s description, and my mind just went “oh yeah, that’s just actually Frank”

Julie Joyful - Uranus: This one was also kind of difficult to place, so I also had to think of it from Julie’s perspective—she’s not afraid to break the rules, nor is she afraid to come up with her own rules

Howdy Pillar - Neptune: For this one I had to actually go to another website to get ideas from. With this variant of Howdy, I wanted to find something that fit both his capitalistic attributes as well as his soft dream-like aesthetic (he’s not as much of a capitalist in this au, but he still enjoys making some dough💸)
