My family's only growing more strict and even my sisters are startin' to look at me curious." Dusa says to Meg, anxiously picking at the skin around her fingers. She loves spending time with Meg so much, and she's become really good at sneaking out, but the stress of it is starting to get to her. As well as all these meetings her parents are having in their living room and sermons on hellspawn and their duty to protect and cleanse this town. (For Meg, Southern Gothic)

she feels her heart twist as the obvious toll of their meetings is made apparent to her. the pink and reddened skin around dusa's fingers tingles in her nose , but not enough for her to even consider revealing the truth to her . even if she wanted to stop , she couldn't — she is far too selfish to have something this precious to her taken away .

which is exactly what will happen if she backs down ; if not from dusa's parents throwing her further into church life and limiting her already rare free time , then from curious vampires and other supernatural beings who stay away only because megaera is allowing them to live . but the more influential and loud dusa's family grows , the bigger targets they paint on their backs ; and meg electing to remain close to dusa is protecting her for the time being but , in all honesty , only highlights that target in both societies .

the mortals think meg a heretical , queer , predatory abomination , and while those things may be true separately , it's certainly not true in the way they are explaining it . the supernaturals think her a powerful adversary who is perhaps slipping , letting her affection and adoration be seen so obviously .

it's too late to undo what she's begun , tactically or emotionally , and she sighs as she looks over at dusa . they're in the flat bed of meg's truck , parked on the river bank and listening to the water rush by . meg traces her gaze over dusa , taking in her form : her nightgown rucked and rumpled , exposing upper thigh , her spare dress laid out neatly on the back bench of the truck for this reason exactly ; hair mussed from large yet gentle hands ; the faintest trace of lipstick all down her neck and throat and at the collar of her nightgown , invisible to mortals but still so clear to meg , knowing it continues down beneath her clothes ; sweet doe eyes dim with worry .

❛ i don't mean to cause you duress , ❜ she murmurs softly , rolling onto her side and gently putting her hand over dusa's own . ❛ i'm just ... incredibly selfish , is all . any time i can spend with you , i'd like to . the very idea of you is too much for me to deny . and i am sorry that only makes your life more difficult . ❜

@singofus asked: Dusa made Meg go downstairs or somewhere else when she got dressed today, for a few reasons. The first just being she had a special Valentine's Day outfit planned and she wanted to descend the stairs to her like it was prom! So she did. She wore a bubblegum pink below-knee tartan a-line skirt, a white collared blouse with a pink sleeveless sweater vest over the top. In her red curls was a dusty rose pink satin sleep eye mask. Used both as a hint to her fiancée and because Hypnos had seen her sleep eye mask style ones and was so excited they matched. So now she matched her friend too. The white, ankle-high socks and t-bar pink shoes just brought the outfit altogether as she smiled down at Meg. "What do you think? I was maybe gonna iron a red heart onto the sweater but I thought that'd be too much." (For southern gothic)

meg had a small inkling of why she was all but banished from their wing as dusa got ready , but she didn't put up too much of a fight . it benefited both of them when she gave dusa her space , of course ; and it proved that she did trust in the safety of this estate . so she's waiting at the bottom of the stairs in her own mid-tone cool blue cropped sweater, her high waisted black denim jeans with sunflowers on the back pockets , and thick soled boots to give her an extra inch of height .

when dusa comes to the top of the stairs , megaera looks up , golden eyes growing dark as she watches her approach . cat-like , focused on her with absolute warm intensity . as she draws closer , the satin eye mask almost draws a groan from her , imagining that color in other places on her body .

she steps closer , looking up at her , reaching up to put a hand on her waist . ❛ you look adorable , baby , ❜ she murmurs , dark gold eyes looking into sweetheart ruby . ❛ an absolute delight , so pretty . i have more than half a mind to keep you here for the day . ❜
