Actress Lethabo Mekoa On Emotional Scene On Skeem Saam
Filming emotional scenes for actors and actresses requires careful consideration and planning to create a realistic and impactful portrayal of emotions on screen. Actors often face several challenges when filming emotional scenes, as these scenes require a deep level of vulnerability, concentration, and skill.
Lethabo Mekoa, who stars in the popular drama Skeem Saam on SABC 1, is the most recent celebrity to discuss the difficulty she recently encountered while working on set. Recently, Mekoa talked candidly about her heartfelt soap opera scene. The actress, who is rising to fame in South Africa for her portrayal of Ntswaki, recently reflected on a scene that left viewers captivated.
In this specific scene, a fellow student is severely hurt in a fight and goes unconscious. Mekoa acknowledged, reflecting on the scene, that it was difficult for her to talk about it in public.
“It takes a lot for me to write this. I remember when I had to shoot this scene,” she shared.
“I was so nervous and scared at the same time! I knew I had to step into my inner thespian! I knew I had to prove to myself that God gave me this talent.”Mekoa continued.
Mekoa conveyed her appreciation to all viewers of the episode, highlighting the particular place it held in her heart. She also expressed her gratitude to the cast and production crew for giving her the chance to perform for a large audience.

South African Government Attempts Sketchy Sponsorship Deal With Tottenham Hotspur
I wish I had more time, and I could really start paying more attention to the local news, because this is a real disaster-class here.
Over the last month or so, details have emerged (mainly through the South African news), that my local government is attempting to enter a 1 billion rand (the rand is the South African currency) sponsorship deal with English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur.
And as it turns out this news has been met with curiosity, annoyance and outright dissent, at a time when there is much scrutiny around state expenditure.
See, this in a country where we are facing an electricity crisis, rampant unemployment, the looting of the country’s tax reserves and a deep culture of corruption and graft on the part of the country’s political leadership.
Even if you’re trying to sell the idea that this is an investment in the country’s tourism sector, the question, is why are resources being used for tourism, when many of the other key sectors of government, especially service delivery, are massively under-resourced?
youtube
And yes, you can please believe that the visibilty of Tottenham Hotspur is the reason why this story has not left public dialogue in over a month, but there are plenty of instances where frivolous goverment spending does not get noticed.
You have to understand the culture that’s been set forth by state capture, and state capture is a nice way of saying, outside entities have been looting South Africa’s state owned resources.
The way they do that is by bribing the most senior politicians in the country, and then awarding 3rd party contracts to companies that they own, and for which they are then grossly overpaid.
That’s more or less what happened during the Gupta scandal, and more such instances of the country’s resources and tax revenue being looted.
This is how you end up with a country, where citizen’s access to electricity is cut off every 6 to 8 hours on account of generators being poorly maintained, the national airline (South African Airways) is underfunded and the local television broadcaster (the SABC) has let go of so many employees.
Now, in a country with this kind of political and economic backdrop, should the we really be considering entering any kind of sponsorship with anyone, and can our government gaurantee any kind of transparecy, or is this just people in our local government trying to get in to Daniel Levy’s good graces?
The idea of this sponsorship, that would have been supported with a marketing campaign, is similar to what you would have seen with Arsenal Football Club’s “Visit Rwanda” campaign, and would have seen Spurs player donning similar kind of slogans or insignia promoting South Africa as a tourist destination on thier kits and jerseys.
The point is that this is a waste of resources and wrongly allocated funds in a country that needs those resources used in other areas of our infastructure, namely in service delivery.
1 billion rand, may not be a ton of money when were talking about government infastructure, but it’s money this government cannot justify spending on tourism when were are literally experiencing an electricity crisis.
Since this news, the Chief Financing Officer of the South African Department of Tourism has resigned and the attempted deal looks like it has been foiled due to bad press..
As I’ve mentioned, they couldn’t have picked a worse time to try this, because at this point, even political opposition are using the Totteham deal as a talking point regarding the ruling party’s intentiions with such a deal.
More will follow, but this is a story that hits a lot of different layers or points of interest for me. From sports to corruption, to things happening relating to the state of my own country.
So the next time you see sports teams wearing clothing that encourages tourism, know that your club or team likely does business with corrupt governments and that jersey or kit is sponsored by taxes provided by a foreign working class that will never see any return on that investment.

How to watch Qatar 2022 : World Cup Guide
The World Cup's first match between the host country and Ecuador will kick off Qatar 2022 in less than a day. The footballers are putting the last finish on their preparations for a tournament that has generated controversy since it was given to the Gulf nation in 2010. The on-field action is expected to be unexpected and exciting even as off-field topics like the deaths of migrant workers and the conditions many of them faced in Qatar, LGBTQ and social equality, and the fact that alcohol will not be sold in stadiums continue to make headlines. Competition loves Only eight countries—many of which are favorites this time around—have previously won the men's World Cup. Brazil now holds the record for most championships, having won the trophy five times. The new generation has a good chance of adding another title, which would be the first for the nation in 20 years. There is a skill all over the field, not least in defense, where the seasoned Thiago Silva of Chelsea and the talented Marquinhos of Paris Saint-Germain will probably act as a barrier for Allison, the goalkeeper for Liverpool. With 28 of its last 29 games ending in victories or draws and only one loss, against Argentina in the Copa America final in 2021, Brazil too boasts an exceptional record and will be optimistic of progressing to the knockout stages. Its group-stage opponents are Switzerland, Cameroon, and Serbia, all of whom it should easily defeat. France is a necessary component alongside Brazil. The defending champion cruised through qualification without dropping a match, and Kylian Mbappe is developing into a world-renowned athlete. However, several injuries in crucial positions could jeopardize its prospects. On the eve of the competition, star striker Karim Benzema has been ruled out, while midfielders Paul Pogba and N'Golo Kante, who were so important to its success in 2018, are also out. Raphael Varane, a center back, has rejoined the team though, having recovered from an injury. Players to watching The world's top athletes will be on display in Qatar, and for many, it may be their final opportunity to win the coveted trophy. Despite being two of the greatest players to ever play the game, neither Messi nor Cristiano Ronaldo has achieved victory on the largest international platform. Because Ronaldo will be older by the time the next World Cup rolls around—over 40 years old—he has already declared that this will be his final appearance. Both players have a good possibility of doing well in the tournament as they are currently the leading goal scorers in their respective countries. With the majority of its players spending their entire careers in the country's top division, Qatar is a relatively obscure entity in addition to competing in its first World Cup. The attacker, Akram Afif, is the exception. Afif has eight assists in just seven appearances in Qatar's premier league, having made 11 assists during the team's 2019 Asian Cup victory. In the first game, he'll be someone to watch. Japanese player Takefusa Kubo is another emerging star. The playmaker, 21, received his education at some of soccer's most esteemed institutions. Prior to joining Real Madrid in 2019, he spent time in Barcelona's development system. When is that? On November 20, Qatar and Ecuador square off in the tournament opener at the Al Bayt Stadium. The elimination rounds begin the following day, December 3, and the final is on December 18. How do I watch it? Fox Sports Either BBC or ITV SBS Australia Sport TV in Brazil ARD, ZDF, and Deutsche Telekom are in Germany. Tacos. Tequila. Telenovelas. Nairobi Embraces Its Mexican Soul.
On New Year’s Eve, as people around the world celebrated with a kiss or a glass of champagne, some partygoers in Nairobi celebrated a different way: with 12 grapes, one for each month of the year, as the clock ticked down to midnight. This Mexican tradition, which dates back to the Spanish colonial period and is said to bring good luck, arrived in Nairobi on the crest of a cultural wave that is taking over Kenya’s trendiest corners. Mexican culture is everywhere: on restaurant menus, in dance clubs, on television.
Although the number of actual Mexicans in Nairobi is small — about 200 people, according to embassy estimates — and they don’t have a defined neighborhood, their influence on the city’s cultural life is hard to miss (and that’s not even including Lupita Nyong’o, the daughter of Kenyans who was born in Mexico City). Nairobians can drink tequila and dance to Mexican-Kenyan fusion music at Blend Lounge on a Saturday night, then worship with Mexican Catholic priests at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish the next morning. Decent Mexican food is notoriously hard to find throughout Africa, but in Nairobi, hungry travelers don’t even have to leave the airport: at Java House, East Africa’s answer to Starbucks, they can feast on quesadillas, guacamole, and even huevos rancheros.
The first Mexicans came to Kenya in the late 40s, as Catholic missionaries. Here’s how their influence spread.
From TV
The fusion of Mexican and Kenyan cultures began in the 1980s, as Latin American telenovelas, mostly from Mexico, took over Kenyan airwaves. The rights for these soap operas were cheaper to buy than those for United States shows, so networks snatched them up. Today, business is still booming: Caroline Mbindyo-Koroso, a CEO and executive producer of African Voices Dubbing Company, says the company started out in early 2015 with two employees dubbing soap operas. Now it’s the biggest dubbing company in East Africa, with 15 recording booths and four dedicated mixing stations.
Ms. Mbindyo-Koroso says soap operas are so popular because they’re aspirational: a pretty, downtrodden hero or heroine overcomes daunting odds — an evil stepmother, a bespectacled business tycoon — to achieve greatness. Most Mexican telenovelas in Kenya currently air in English, but Ms. Mbindyo-Koroso thinks there would be even more potential if they were dubbed into local languages. There are more than 120 million Swahili speakers in Africa, she notes.
To the radio
Born in Veracruz, Mexico, Edgar Manuel Vargas Gallegos, 28, had always idolized the Mexicans who had worked in Kenya as missionaries. After seminary school, but before his ordination, Mr. Gallegos followed their footsteps, intending to spread the Gospel.
Instead Mr. Gallegos fell in love with genge, Nairobi’s home-grown genre that combines traditional hip-hop beats with rap lyrics in Kiswahili and Sheng. With telenovelas popular, he reasoned: why couldn’t Mexican-Kenyan fusion be the next big thing in music, too? Mr. Gallegos ditched the priesthood and adopted the stage name “Romantico” to pursue a life in rap.
His collaborations with Kenyan artists, including Samaki Mkuu (the Kenyan Olympic swimmer Jason Dunford), and the so-called father of genge, Jua Cali, are addictive mash-ups: in the video for his 2018 single, Mkora (which means “scoundrel”), Romantico raps in Spanish and Swahili while wearing a bright-blue Mexican wrestler mask. In a forthcoming song, he reimagines the Veracruz classic “La Bamba” with genge soul.
“We are starting a new movement here in East Africa: a fusion of Spanish and Swahili music,” said Romantico, sitting outside a Nairobi taqueria where Kenyan employees clamored to take selfies with him. “The people can feel that it belongs to us. When we are singing, we are not singing for ourselves. We are singing for the people.” And the people love it: already, Romantico has performed on two of Kenya’s most popular TV shows, Ten Over Ten and The Churchill Show.
The hype has spilled over into classical music genres, too. The Kenyan classical guitarist Kevin Munyi, who specializes in private performances and corporate events, said there is suddenly more demand for mariachi music than ever before.
To the restaurant kitchen
“Mexican food has a checkered history in Kenya,” said Salisha Chandra, one of the co-owners of Fonda NBO, which became Nairobi’s first authentic Mexican restaurant when it opened in October 2017. (NBO is the airport code for the city’s international airport and has become shorthand for the city.) “It was only Tex-Mex, and those restaurants opened and closed very quickly.”
Ms. Chandra and her husband, Yash Krishna, lived in the United States for several years, including in California, before finally returning home to Nairobi. They missed the food they had fallen in love with abroad.
“We couldn’t figure out why there wasn’t any really good, authentic Mexican food here,” said Ms. Chandra. “It’s really similar to Kenyan food, in terms of ingredients: corn, avocados, beans. We said, ‘it should work really well with the Kenyan palate.’”
Indeed, ugali (the stiff cornmeal porridge that is ubiquitous in East African cuisine) is reminiscent of Mexican corn masa, and kachumbari, a Kenyan fresh tomato and onion salad, is a dead ringer for pico de gallo.
Ms. Chandra and the other co-owners traveled to Mexico, where they ate their way around the country, then flew the acclaimed Mexican chef Juan Cabrera Barrón to Nairobi for 10 days to help develop the menu. Authenticity was key: when certain ingredients, such as guajillo chilies and epazote herbs, weren’t available in Kenya, Fonda NBO partnered with an organic farm to grow them. And after more than a dozen misfires, they finally found a local Kenyan cheesemaker to make perfect queso fresco and queso Oaxaca from scratch.
Spira Cornel, the head chef at Fonda NBO, honed his skills with many different global cuisines but had never even tasted Mexican food before. “From day one, it was a blast for us as chefs. Mexican and Kenyan recipes use the same ingredients, but it’s a very different platform and techniques.”
Since Fonda NBO opened, Nairobi’s Mexican food scene has boomed: At Mercado, in Westlands, the head chef and bartender are both from Mexico, and at Alchemist, a cultural marketplace of pop-up bars, music venues, and food trucks, hipsters can wash down nachos with Mexican-inspired tequila cocktails.
Jay Muchai, a Kenyan chef and manager at Fonda NBO, has never traveled to Mexico but still feels a strong connection to the country. “Every time I serve the locals, I pretend to be more Mexican than Kenyan,” he said. “They say Mexican food feels like home food. It has the same soul.”

sprache in neuseeland (8)
language in New Zealand - Wikipedia - 50 Muslims were killed by a right-wing extremist Australian who deliberately exploited the country's lax weapons legislation. Within only 6 days this was changed. The extraordinarily warm expressions of sympathy let us hope that such a thing will never happen again. It is very reassuring to know that New Zealand enjoys a leading position in the overall ranking of the Global Peace Index, a ranking that takes into account indicators such as homicide rate or life expectancy. Nevertheless, crime is slowly increasing, depending on the category, and violent assaults on tourists have also been reported. One of the first known novels written in an African language by a black author was Mhudi by Sol Plaatje in 1930, and the oldest existing choir is the Stellenbosch University Choir, the choir of the University of Stellenbosch, founded in 1936, which is known for a cappella sung music. The first hit, of which more than 100,000 records have been sold in South Africa, was the Mbube composed by Solomon Linda in 1939. The black South Africans living in the cities almost all speak English or Afrikaans in addition to their native languages. At the beginning of the 20th century, there are still small groups of people who speak Khoisan languages.
How big is Madagascar compared to Germany?
The Maori language (MÄori, Te Reo MÄori) is the Polynesian language of the indigenous people of MÄori in New Zealand and has been recognised as an official language there since 1 August 1987. In 2006, the language was still spoken by about 157,500 people in New Zealand, 131,600 of whom were of Maori descent.
In other projects
Broadcasting in South Africa has long been the mass medium with the widest distribution. The liberalisation of this sector in 1996 led to a sharp increase in the number of radio stations. In 2005 Johannesburg, for example, had more than 40 different radio stations. The operation of radio stations is regulated far less by the state than the television sector. Approximately three percent of employed South Africans work in the tourism industry, which is expected to continue to grow. The mining industry is dominated by a few corporations that are among the largest in the world, such as Anglo American, Glencore, [73] ARMgold, Anglogold Ashanti and Implats. The Lonmin group, which controls platinum mining, and the diamond producer De Beers are wholly or partly owned by Anglo American. South Africa dominates the economy of Southern Africa and has formed the Southern African Customs Union (SACU) together with Swaziland, Namibia, Lesotho and Botswana since 1910.
The many different TV-, radio stations and print media of the country, which broadcast and publish in the different official languages, illustrate the cultural diversity of the inhabitants.
Although it is not to be expected that the tourism in New Zealand will decrease in the next years, but probably in some years much less adventure tourists will visit the country.
In 1971 the state media company South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), which until then had the de facto monopoly over radio broadcasting, was allowed to broadcast a television programme.
In 2005, there were only four free-to-air television channels in South Africa, channels 1, 2 and 3 of the SABC and the channel e.tv.
The Olympic rings, designed as a symbol in 1913, symbolize the five continents (Africa, America, Asia, Australia and Europe) (participating in the Olympic Games).
