I’m totally having this endless brain rot ever since beating the game because I chose the “evil ending” for my MC and didn’t get the satisfaction to see her actually turning dark.

There are so much potential left unexplored. Like digging deeper into all the situations the MC been thru with Sebastian it’s so clear that they care for each other deeply but also there are always more complicated motives and power dynamics going on. Through out all the choices we got with Sebastian the MC is actually the manipulator ( like if you want to get Sebastian to teach you dark arts you choose to say things that he would want to hear) and inevitably becomes the enabler In Sebastian’s path to darkness.

This is also the reason why i didn’t choose to turn Sebastian in because it just wouldn’t make sense and would make the MC a double standard hypocrite since the MC had used the unforgivable curses in numerous occasions and I find it hard to justify. Or the MC is just purely evil by putting Sebastian in Azkaban after he provides no value to the MC anymore since all the unforgivable curses are taught. Anyway I might have just been over analyzing and making it too complex for a game. But just saying the MC definitely would not have the moral high ground here and it would be interesting to see if the MC has the ambition and plan to rise to power in the Wizarding world (since ancient magic wielding abilities alone is so OP already)and what part would Sebastian play in the future.

Btw I don’t even think that the MC would necessarily be a Slytherin to turn dark per say. I think in this specific plot line of Hogwarts Legacy it would be interesting to have a ravenclaw turning “evil” if you consider that Isidora is a ravenclaw and how the MC could share a lot of similarities with her: unmatched talent and magical power, intelligence and empathetic personality etc. and also it would be so cool to see a mastermind who is not becoming “dark” to just gain power but self-perceived as doing good for others. Totally make sense honestly and every house actually has the potential to turn dark.

You’ve visited the lands of Thedas thrice before in our games and many more times in comics, books, art, and short stories. This time, you’ll be venturing to places unseen and returning to places from long ago.

To celebrate Dragon Age Day, we wanted to show you some of those sights.

We stand on the precipice of change. This is a world brimming with stories and characters waiting to meet you. The fate of this world teeters on the edge of a knife. In past games, you only got to see a slice of the world. In Origins, it was Ferelden—a land ravaged by war and Dark Spawn. In II, it was Kirkwall and its locales—festering with corruption and a dark underworld. And in Inquisition, you ventured across much of Orlais—facing down political intrigue as often as combat.

This time, however, much more of Thedas is yours to see. The desolate, beautiful badlands of the Anderfels with curtains of distant mountainous spires. The twisting canals and gleaming towers of Antiva, where Crows may lurk in any shadow. The turquoise seas of Rivain with its rushes of greenery and hardy sea-faring people. And of course, there’s more.

We felt this was best for the tale we wanted to tell this time and we hope you enjoy it as much as we have! It’s allowed us to create many more locations than past games, including both some you’ve longed to go to…and some you’ve never heard of before!

To help capture the wonders of Thedas, we partnered with three wonderful artists from our exceptionally talented community and gave them an early look at what you’ve now seen. We’ve always been so fortunate to have such an incredibly skilled community of artists, and getting to work with these three was a true joy!

Oh yes, WG has a bunch. And all of them are inspired by Nipuni's utterly fantastic art. At first it wasn't deliberate, but once I made the connection between what I was writing and the source for the image in my head, I rolled with it. You've seen her work, I'm sure you can't blame me. Her depiction of Solas is exquisite. Let's see...

There's a fairly obvious moment inspired by 'Schooling Pride' (ch 116). 'Kiss on the Battlefield' pretty much sums up their entire dynamic. 'Cry Havoc' inspired a battle scene climax (ch 97) and there are not one but TWO scenes inspired by 'Kisses' (chs 7 and 17).

One of these days, tiny gods willing and the creek don't rise, I will have some of Nipuni's art that I can look at always and forever. The hardest part will be narrowing it down to which one?

How Solas and Lavellan can both die but still end up together: Keeping the theme of ‘hopefulness’ through the arc of  the Solavellan romance

I am torturing myself at this point, but there’s something so distinctly beautiful about an ending for Solas and Lavellan where because the memory of their love is so strong, so well-known throughout Thedas, that this remembrance is part of what gives birth to their continuation in the Fade. Patrick Weekes has referred to this romance as “ultimately a hopeful one”, and I think this theme of memory shaping reality will give Solas and Lavellan their happy ending, or, in keeping with the overall romance theme, at least a hopeful one.

I want Solas to resist helping up until the last second when he sees Lavellan willingly engage in an action that will end in her death, and he sees her plan working before his very eyes. This is the moment that he realizes: He was wrong. It becomes clear that unless he helps her, her sacrifice will be in vain – whatever it is, it needs more than she can give. This is Solas’ moment of commitment to Lavellan that he ran away from in Crestwood, and, beyond that, it is also an act of redemption. 

Their lives end at each other’s sides, and maybe there’s a touching moment, maybe just a look of understanding, of shared experiences and grief and love (because Lavellan always believed and part of Solas always hoped: var lath vir suledin), and he pools the rest of his power into whatever process Lavellan has set in motion, and we see, like with Wisdom in All New Faded For Her, their spirits dissipating into the ether. 

I would love to see an epilogue that is as far as hundreds of years into the future, where whatever state the world is in now, it is made clear that Solas and Lavellan’s love story has endured. We can imagine that they are the sort of fated couple that has inspired romances in dramas or literature. This serves two roles:

1. It sets it up for the player who has romanced Solas to know that their romance was real, that, finally, Solas and Lavellan have a positive ending, and their love was not for nothing. It sets it apart from a storyline with a non-Solas romanced Inquisitor in a way that’s meaningful but not difficult to do.

2. "If the idea giving the spirit form is strong, or if the memory has shaped other spirits, it may someday rise again.” We get the sense that Solas and Lavellan might not really be gone, some incarnation of their spirits may have reformed and found each other once more, tucked away in the woods somewhere, together for eternity, actually living the fantasy so many players hoped to see them live out.

Last song: Lothlorien by Enya! I was giving myself an Enya moment on my phone after seeing a Tumblr post about her living all alone in her castle. I listened to that album of hers that everyone had in the early 90s, and made my sister laugh by singing to Orinoco Flow AND THEN I played Lothlorien (another Enya song) which my child recognised from the LOTR movies, which pleased them 🥰

Currently reading: Possession by AS Byatt. I read it many years ago. It's the only book that's ever made me cry, and it's a joy to read it again as an adult. I understand a lot more of it now.

Currently watching: nothing right now! I'm in a place with no reliable internet and no TV. I want to watch The Sixth Commandment when I can because it sounds utterly harrowing.

Current obsession: thinking about a fic I've taken about 9 months off actually writing (it's called The Rosy Hours) which is hard because the relationship dynamics are difficult and sad and awful, but I still find them quite fascinating which is why I haven't given up on it...

Dragon Age

I can’t write here without naming my constant writing companion @kunstpause. She is a constant source of inspiration and drama. Our “oh. OH!” conversations will always be legendary and her eye for detail is incredible. I love her and her stories, simple as that. ♥

For her way with words, for her talent to wrap them around emotions and just drive them directly into your heart, for how she captures a whole story in a sentence, @kauriart is one of my go-to writers. Oh, and her AMAZING art that accompanies it... all-round talent.

Another one of my amazing beta-readers and an incredible writer on top of it, @curiousthimble has such an understanding of characters and stories, it’s awe-inspiring. Funny and wicked and tender and so round, her writing is just wonderful.

That eye for the detail and a language that makes you think of flowers and ribbons and Jane Austen is what I admire @thegolli for. She hasn’t really published, but let me tell you - you’ll love it when she will :D

The first smut scene I read of Solavellan that said “This is real. This is two adults sharing something intimate” was by @bdafic. Her ongoing longfic is of a detail and passion that is incredible. Her story was one of my first bookmarks on AO3 and there are chapters in there I’ve read several times.
