Originaires d' Hernando, le groupe américain 'North Mississippi Allstars' se fonde en 1996 autour des deux frères Dickinson: Luther (guitare, voix, Lowebow-genre de guitar box) et Cody (batterie, claviers, washboard).

Dès leur premier opus ('Shake hands with Shorty') sorti en 2000, le groupe est nominé pour un Grammy Award du "meilleur album de blues contemporain". Puis couronné en 2001 d'un Blues Music Award en tant que 'meilleur nouvel artiste'. Depuis, le groupe sort un album quasiment chaque année, et collabore tous azimuts. Notamment avec Duwayne Burnside, fils de R.L.  Ouvrant en première partie de Robert Plant et de son groupe 'Band of Joy', ils acquièrent à partir de 2011 une plus large audience.

Et c'est en 2019 qu'ils publient ce très beau 'Up and Rolling'. Enregistré dans les fameux Zebra Ranch Studios crées par leur illustre producteur de père Jim Dickinson, c'est un disque électrique, classieux et boueux aussi parfois, où les guitares et le slide de Luther Dickinson font merveille; ainsi que le chant relax et suave de la grande Mavis Staple sur le très soul 'What you gonna do ?' ou encore le fifre et la voix de Sharde Thomas qui confèrent au splendide 'Call that gone' des airs de fanfare sauvage et oubliée...

Gage de suprême reconnaissance, le disque est chroniqué dès sa sortie dans la revue SoulBag.

Don’t be fooled Eliza Neals’ latest release, “Badder To The Bone” (E-H Records) brims with original blues-rock-nine out of ten to be exact. From the first track- a #BoDiddley beater titled “#UnitedWeStand” - Neals’ #sultryvoice digs in and doesn’t let the listener forget whose record this is. Wrapped in smoke and velvet, gravel and silk, it cuts through the rich instrumental fury and sticks with you after each song ends, like a pleasant aftertaste in your ear. Then standout track on “Badder to the Bone” is “#QueenoftheNile” (from whence the releases title is birthed), which I first heard on SiriusXM’s B.B. Kings #Bluesville channel-always a good sign. #Guitarsolo aficionados will love #LanceLopez’ labor, but don’t forget to listen for #PeterKeys’ effective #HammondB3 work. And-bonus!-the release includes two versions of the #slowblues thriller. Other strengths on this blues-rock showcase include the #rumba -flavored “#BucketofTears”, Detroit's #BillyDavis’ unmistakable guitar on “#GotAGun” , #MichaelPuwals’ slide work on “#FuelingMeUp”, and the flexible #keyboard interplay on “#Heathen”, featuring Neals on piano and #JohnGalvin on #B3. An admirable version of #SteveWinwood’s “Can’t Find My Way Home” is the only cover on the release, clocking in at two minutes longer than the original. Lopez’ guitar skills are again on display. His accompanying band is more Rock than Blues, and exudes a great energy opening with a title sung by the guitarist and a Saxophone solo. The Miss then arrives and launches into a furious “Tell Mama.” She then goes on to rockin Soul songs from Southern soul, pretending to be tired of sitting down and singing tangible ballads, including a song she wrote "last week" in vocal duet with her Guitarist and adorned with a beautiful Saxophone solo, and draws heavily on the repertoire of her disc "Jetlagger" including “Moaning Bench” and I will feed you. The resumption of “Chain of Fools” allows the trumpet and the saxophone to shine. Throughout the set, Bette takes the stage, resplendent with the thousand lights of her outfit and her silver boa.
