What are your favorite fighting games?

to play (& subsequently watch): smash series (64 + melee, specifically), SFIII 3rd strike, tekken 3 (played the shit out of as a kid), soul calibur 2, marvel super heroes vs street fighter and marvel vs capcom, and dragon ball fighterz (honorable mention to rivals of aether, which i suck shit at but its so fun) to specifically watch (because i am not skilled enough): SF 4 + 6, marvel vs capcom 3, tekken 7 + 8, skullgirls, and guilty gear strive

SOUL CALIBUR IS THE BEST. Who was your favourite character?

I liked Voldo, Talim, and Ivy :) As a kid I thought Voldo was hilarious (to clarify, I played soul caliber 2)

I originally thought Leon and Shuichi were voiced by whoever voiced Robin in Fire Emblem.

Turns out I'm wrong. Robin is usually voiced by David Vincent who I don't know. Leon and Shuichi are apparently voiced by Grant George, and I don't know any voice role he's done for games that I'm into. But that's the thing about Japanese games likes these, they never bother to credit the English voice actors. Why is that?

In fact, for a time, I had even thought that Leon and Shuichi were voiced by whoever voiced Kilik in the Soul Calibur series, but I'm probably wrong about that too, and I'm too lazy to even look that up.

I mean, it's not the first time in my life where I assumed a character was voiced by someone else. When I was a kid, I had thought that Shadow the Hedgehog was voiced by the guy who voiced Jak in the Jak & Daxter series. I was wrong about that, but the fact that Shadow had that same tall, dark, and mysterious personality that Jak had is probably what led to Shadow being my favorite Sonic character. Heck, my sister thought that Dante from Devil May Cry was voiced by Nolan North, because she thought Dante sounded like Drake from Uncharted.

bestie what are your top 5 favorite fighting games? OF ALL TIME.

Okay this one was REALLY hard lol I had to really think about the games that continue to hold a special place in my heart for whatever reason. Also I couldn't put these in any order so yeah

• Soul Calibur 3 - not my first fighting game, but it was the first fighting game where I actually knew what I was doing. I mean I was still a kid so take that with a grain of salt lol but yeah my interest in fighting games really started here. It's too bad Soul Calibur has fallen off so much, but I'll always love the older ones

• Any Dead or Alive game that isn't 6 - okay sorry this is cheating lol, but I have a huge soft spot for DOA and couldn't choose an actual favorite. 6 isn't even bad or anything, just a bit disappointing compared to the others. But yeah I've always found the DOA mechanics fun and interesting and I think they're well put together fighting games that unfortunately never really get the credit they deserve because people always see it as just the Horny game and. Well yeah it's not really beating those allegations tbf. Also I would die for Kasumi

• Mortal Kombat 9 - yeah of course this broken mess of a game was gonna be here lol. This game really reignited my love for MK. For a while MK was my favorite fighting game franchise and this game is literally the reason why, I spent SO many hours in this game it's insane. I can't say it's my favorite franchise anymore but I still love it and I'll always have a special place for this game, it was just fun as fuck. I miss bullying my friends with Cyrax lmao

• Dragon Ball Fighterz - I hesitated to include this one but one look at my dresser reminded me why I couldn't not include it lol. Yeah not much to say this game is just an absolute blast and it introduced me to my wife Frieza and got me into DB in general which actually means it's done me more harm than good now that I think about it

• Marvel vs Capcom 3 - I mean. Come on lmao
