Souda Family Bios

Mahiru Koizumi

Mahiru currently runs her own photography business she named “Hotaru Studios” after her daughter was born. She’s the most motherly of all the parents. Mahiru constantly worries about Hotaru’s fear of school due to bullying, and can struggle to reach out to her when Hotaru isolates herself. Mahiru has an abundance of photos from when Hotaru was a baby, all the way to her current age. Some have won awards when she submitted them to photography contests under a different name. 

Kazuichi Souda

Kazuichi has learned to accept himself more, and has stopped dying his hair pink. He doesn’t wear his contact lenses often, though he has considered getting Lasik surgery for his eyes. Kazuichi continues to work as a mechanic, and is employed under the Future Foundation. Kazuichi isn’t the smartest parent, but seems to know what to say or do when Hotaru is struggling.

Hotaru Souda

Hotaru is the only child of Kazuichi Souda and Mahiru Koizumi. After being consistently bullied at her elementary school, Hotaru confined herself to her home and refused to leave. She is currently working on facing her fear. While she can go outside and spend time with friends, she still is afraid of going to school.

Hotaru is fond of machinery and how things work thanks to her father’s influence. She’s too young to work on anything electrical, so she practices on bike chains. She’s also interested in woodworking. Hotaru wears a hat that used to belong to her father as a comfort item
