“Let this be the last time I crash a ghost wedding”
Tumblr media
[SSR] Reyu Carrera- Ghost Groom
Event by @gl00myb3arz
Voice Lines Under Cut: (mentions of Yuya @cheerleaderman and Sophie @gl00myb3arz ) + Full Outfit Sketch
💼 Groovy: [Locked]
💼 Home: Are ghosts kidnapping marriage partners really this common?
💼 Home Idle 1: I have to charm him? Is that really the only way?...I’m sorry, Sophie, you’re doomed…
💼 Home Idle 2: Ahem…”Hey handsome!~ I’ll be your bride!”...Too much?
💼 Home Idle 3: What’s the big deal with marriage anyways? It doesn’t guarantee a happily ever after…
💼 Home Idle Groovy: [Locked]
💼 Home Tap 1: This is embarrassing…I think we should just let Yuya fight him till he gives up Sophie.
💼 Home Tap 2: I can’t help but feel bad for Sophie, talk about being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
💼 Home Tap 3: You know, for a ghost, he’s actually kind of attractive…-That doesn’t excuse his actions, however!
💼 Home Tap 4: These roses?...I might’ve “borrowed” them from the Heartslabyul dorm. Please don’t tell anyone, it was for a good cause!
💼 Home Tap 5: Hm? My thoughts on marriage? I have no interest in that. There are more pressing matters to worry about.
💼 Home Tap Groovy: [Locked]
Tumblr media
This was super fun to do!! I love fan events so much 💖💖💞💖 though I should probably work on some cards for the canon events/outfits but Ghost Groom looked too fun to pass up on :D I had a lot of trouble with the pose for this one and the expression but the point is it's finished now lol and I think it's good to push myself even if the final thing isn't 100% what I wanted.
Extra Outfit Sketch below:
Tumblr media
I don't think I was able to capture what I wanted in the final piece tbh but maybe I'll draw her again in this outfit cause I really liked it! I wanted the top to give bridal vibes but like those old school brides with the big puffy sleeves.
edit: redid her face but idk if its any better than before lol

Tokito Muichiro x FEM reader !!
Series !!?!
Querencia
(n.) a place from which one's strength is drawn, where one feels at home; the place where you are your most authentic self
• Querencia is a metaphysical concept in the Spanish language. The term comes from the Spanish verb "querer," which means to want, to desire, and to love.
ᶻ 𝗓 𐰁 .ᐟ in which two teenagers who hate one another and one's who suffer with problems will slowly fall for one another
Warnings? !:
This book will have mentions of the following below:
Abuse
Alcohol
Drugs
Smoking
Suicide
Self loathing
SA
And maybe other sensitive topics
If you are not comfortable with any of that this book might not be your cup of tea.
Before you go on, yes I am aware that tokito muichiro is a 14 year old boy so in this fic he will be aged up to the age of 17-16 but keep in mind they will not be any smut because I will not be comfortable of writing anything like that. There will be kissing, cuddling, flirting, dirty jokes and sexual tension but it will not escalate any further. Tokito Muichiro is a canon minor character so I will not be comfortable writing it obviously.
I planned this book with a friend @pasteriies so I will not be taking all credits for this fan fiction. I got inspired to do this fic by an author who I don't remember their tag but I was inspired by their book heartache. It's another tokito muichiro fan fiction I recommend to read but I assure you, my story will not have anything similar to theirs, at least I don't think so, maybe the similar in the dark theme but nothing else.
Female reader unfortunately, sorry to the male readers or nonbinary's and obviously modern au !!
Introducing our characters !!

And so on !!
I do not own any of the characters here, they all belong to Koyoharu Gotouge except for my original characters above and soon to come and y/n's personality trait.
I am still trying to improve my english so my use of vocabulary and grammar will not be advanced nor perfect as english is not my native tongue and it isn't my first language so please bare with me here. I promise you my English isn't bad it just needs a little reshaping
I do not tolerate plagiarism, this fic will be written in my tumblr account _shixhiro_ and my Wattpad account. If I see any of my fics being used in other platforms or other users you will be blocked but I don't mind taking inspirations just like I did with mine. I hope the author of the book I was inspired by doesn't mind that I was inspired to write a book of muichiro because of them. I assure you once more I was merely inspired and I will not be taking any of what you've written in your book !!
Tumblr media
Reblogs appreciated !!
If you prefer to read it on Wattpad here is the link :

Transferring my thoughts from twitter but okay. Probably I will be hated but who cares I'm just some no name girl in the internet
Unpopular opinion about Yuzu
I'm NOT sorry but Yuzu is spoiled little bitch who treats Yuya unfairly and cruelly
No she's not the best female supporting character, no she's not voice of reason, she's spoiled princess in a bad way and potential abuser. She even beats her own father who loves her and raises her by himself. You think it's a normal thing?
And talking about Yuya. He's a traumatized child who tries to hide his pain behind smile and foolish acting. And when Yuzu was told about it she reacted like it's a first time when she heard it. But isn't she supposed to be a childhood friend? How could she not know about his trauma? And even after Yuzu was told about it, she didn't start acting nicer to Yuya and continued to beat him just because
Not only Yuya, Yugo too. He let her to stay in his place when they got to Synchro dimension and suggested her to take a shower. Yugo didn't have to do it and he just wanted to help but what did Yuzu do? Beated him! Like girl wtf
Yuzu often whimpers like Yuya doesn't care about her
HE DOES
HE CARES ABOUT HER TOO MUCH
And that's why he lets her to beat him. He's afraid of her but he doesn't want to lose her. Yuya indulges Yuzu and she takes it for granted and uses his kindness. And that's why Yuya is potential victim(if not already)
I've also seen that Yuzu fans hate Mieru. But you know, Mieru is just girl in love and she treats Yuya MUCH MORE BETTER THAN YUZU DOES. And Mieru did for Yuya more good things for her small screen time than Yuzu did for entire anime. I would accept Mieru as fem support
Mic drop
P.S.: I don't trust you if you love fruitshipping

I just thought of something and I want to cook
Yugioh band AU
Now I’ve only thought of yugi/yami, judai and yusei however I feel like I can add the other protagonist but here are my ideas so far
The vibe is going to be similar to coffee shop Au or high school/collage Au
They are a small up and coming band and most of the practice will be in yusei’s garage
Judai is homeless and yusei is the only one with a transport and a house
Yugi and yami are brothers (it just makes sense I’m sorry to the puzzleshippers) and yami is apart of the band, yugi is just there for the fun of it but yugi has like a great singing voice but not a fan of the spotlight
Either during or post college but definitely after high school
Yusei is on drums, judai is lead vocals and yami is on electric guitar
The band is metal or rock
Yuma, yuya and yusaku can be involved but i haven’t thought that far yet (maybe yuga but he is too young actually so is yuya and Yuma)

yugioh protagonists ranked on who i’d take to a metal concert but so far i’ve only seen dm and part of gx when i was a kid:
(i kinda wanna do another one of these with a handful of other random characters i like if this does well)
yugi muto, but specifically as atem. i think regular yugi would try to enter the pit and almost get trampled. atem on the other hand? he would kill it. both would be into the music but atem would listen to much heavier stuff than yugi
yusaku fujiki. i think he listens to black metal and he’s got some repressed shit he needs to get out. i also think he can do a really good metal growl, and somehow doesn’t demolish his throat
yusei fudo. same reasons as yusaku but i think he’d mostly listen to metalcore. i’m confident he has sempiternal seared into his brain (also collide with the sky). i think he’d also listen to a fair amount of classic metal too, especially dio, iron maiden, and black sabbath
yuya sakaki. yes but only symphonic or power metal. i think he’d respect them as performers first and come around to the music second. the more epic the metal the more he likes it. huge fan of dragonforce and is a frequent listener of through the fire and the flames (in its entirety)
judai yuki. it would take a long time for him to like it, but he’d eventually come around. you’d probably never see him at anything heavier than like….of mice & men but he’d secretly slip a few songs into his studying playlist. (god forbid chazz catches wind of this, he’ll be awakened like a goddamned sleeper agent)
yuma tsukumo. i’m sorry i genuinely believe this poor kid would cry as soon as someone tries to pull him into the pit. i don’t think he’d be a huge fan of the music either, and would probably be genuinely scared of black metal or any of the other really heavy stuff. might come around but it’s unlikely. (astral would probably be into it though)

THE KINDNESS OF THE BUFFALO
Tumblr media
Before Geats ends I want to dedicate a few words to the best Geats character, the one that made me enjoy a year of a KR series again.
I have written before how he made me feel on edge through the series, how is not the type of character that I use to like or love. So Buffa/Michinaga Azuma was a big surprise for me. XD
I believe he best embodies the meaning of being a true kamen rider at it's core. And from all the cast, he had the most development throught the series.
From being a poor construction worker and nobody to antagonist to a hero. In every stages I felt alittle bit of kindness even in his worst acts, that small amount was enough for me to believe in him, believe that he was a good guy, that he was pushed between wall and sword, that he was bounded by circumstances. And Buffa totally delivered.
I want to believe that every kid fan of his was totally happy watching him being a hero in this last Geats arc. You know... when Michinaga said sorry to Keiwa and Keiwa said sorry to him too... my inner child was so happy, it was like: "Look! they are finally friends, there will be no more hate" X,D Because being a Buffa fan throught the series felt like being bullied by his haters: You can't like him, he's a killer, he's not a good guy, not a hero, you have made that up, he's not repent for his actions, etc, etc.Just imagine... being a kid, fan of Buffa... wanting to play with other kids... but those kids say that you can't like him, that he's evil. (hope no kid were bullied like this, because is an horrible feeling TTATT).
I believe that one of the magic that tokusatsu shows have is make you feel like a child again, so really this shows dont need to be the best in writing or effects. If it made you feel like a child again, if it left you with some values... even if execution was bad, it dont matter.
Geats was not the best KR series... writing was bad... plot points were forgot... plot holes everywhere... wasted characters (usually Yuya Takashi series X,D)... but was fun, was fun to wonder every weekend if Michinaga was good, what he wanted to do, where he will going to end, what was he thinking and ultimately was fun watching him doing good, trying to save people, saying he believes in Geats (I literally cried by that statement, truly character development at his finest). Without him I couldn't have enjoyed Geats. He was, for me, the heart of this series. Through him I enjoyed the other cast and it's story.
Buffa is the live image that: If you have kindness in your heart no matter circumstances, no matter how hard life is, you can be a good person, you can fight back destiny and win.
Thank you Buffa/Michinaga Azuma for don't let me down and deliver. Kazuto Mokudai, thank you for play him. 19yrs baby did an awesome job. TTvTT

6, 12 and 18 for the choose violence ask game if you're still interested in doing so.
Yeah, sure! I'm still doing them! Sorry if I took a little too long ^^'
6. Which ship fans are the most annoying?
Mmmm, this is a tough one, not sure if there's a specific ship in Arc V where the most annoying fans are...
No wait, I just remembered, I think any configuration of the dragon boys sameface shipping are the most annoying, at least the one for Yuri and Yugo were, from what I remember, not even necessarily about how much they talked about it, like, I get it, you get a new ship and that's all you wanna talk about.
But their tendency to talk shit about either of the girls, specially Rin, for supposedly getting in the way, was incredibly annoying.
12. The unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them
Honestly, I know it's gonna sound like repeating myself, but despite that he's more appreciated now than her was before, Reiji is still one of my favorites and so underestimated, that people even deny that he's one of the main characters along with Yuya and Yuzu.
People should like him because despite the lack of spotlight caused by his VA's busy schedule, I'm pretty impressed with the story they managed to tell about him, the one of a boy who in appearance, has everything anyone could aspire to be: riches, status, skills, intelligence etc. and a lot of that is inherited from his family, but another thing he inherits is a sense of responsibility, guilt, anger and let's face it, his own flavor of trauma.
There's so much subtext to his story, you could even make argument about his whole deal being about restorative justice rather than the vengeance story many people in the fandom wanted him to be about.
18. It's absolutely criminal that the fandom has been sleeping on...
Because there's so many people that hate the ending, I have seldom seen any fics or artworks that take place after the finale, and there's so much people could write about from that finale, that doesn't have to do with some sort fo "fix fic" about the counterparts or whatever.
They could talk about how people adjust to living in the same dimension, they could talk about how dueling changes now that everyone has access to different types of summoning, they could talk about how the main characters feel about things, how their lives change or don't change idk.
They could talk about how Reira finally gets to grow up in a loving family, about whether or not the bonds of the lancers will endure after the finale.
It's really a shame and waste imo.

Round 5, Match 1
Tumblr media
Okay, the first match of the final round is ready to commence! Martha's won 2 whole rounds already, so I imagine you're all familiar with her, but for those who need a refresher on Reiji's mom, check the totally not biased at all text below.
She makes her debut in episode 8 visiting You Show Duel School, wanting to know if Yuya really had been responsible for injuring Shingo during a duel because she couldn't let a slight like that against one of their students (which would reflect poorly on the school itself) stand. Yuya of course, is innocent, but she challenges You Show to a 3 on 3 match for the school, a duel where if You Show lost, she would be acquiring the whole school (and most likely dismantling it, I mean, what else would she do with a little school like that when she has LDS already.) She was even willing to just buy the school out when they tied, and only stopped because Reiji happened to intervene.
There is a lot to say about this woman given her rather large presence in Arc-V, but I think that what most fans know her for is for taking in an abandoned war orphan and using them as a child soldier because she thought that this deeply traumatized child would be the perfect soldier due to "having no sense of self". Her "redemption" many episodes down the line came after Reira was turned into a baby for... reasons, and she suddenly realized that turning children into obedient puppets she could bend to her will was bad, and felt sorry for how she'd treated her kid. (You know, because that's the sort of thing that needs some real introspection to realize.)
Arc-V stans, I think we already know how this is gonna go down.

Howdy. I’ve seen your work and thanks for defending ARC-V and Yuya. I’m a new member of the franchise, so I thought I was on my own. I’m asking if you are of a certain post on Reddit that has Yu//saku meet Yuya and basically call him out on his “flaws”, i.e. the three main reasons the fandom won’t shut up like a broken record about him. 1. He forces people into Entertainment. 2. Not every duel is about smiling, “get that through your head” (their words, not me) 3. “Your reliance on Action Cards is an issue.” I don’t have a personal problem with Yu//saku, but if they really did meet and he decided to be a d*ck, than he would be a condescending hypocrite, because most of the flaws that he’s criticizing Yuya can be applied to him, whether it’s the opposite problem (1.) or he’s doing the same thing, if not worst than Yuya. The “traits” are just the fans misunderstanding and being bias towards Yuya, which I have too much experience in regards to other series. It has 809 likes, was posted a year ago, and has 143 comments. Some of them could be defending Yuya and calling out Play//maker, but I’m not going through the mental torment of finding them. I probably know what the response is gonna be, but I wanted to know your thoughts on this and rant a little. Thank you for your time.
Sorry I just saw this. Life has been busy. So that person who wrote it, is obviously an edgelord. He’s bitter that Yuya tried to make people happy in his duels and didn’t have a “kill or be killed mindset” and uses Yus//aku as a stand in as the “edge” one.
And the irony on the Action Card statement cause Yu//Saku rarely wins WITHOUT USING STORM ACCESS. Which is FAR worse than anything Yuya does. If they get mad just remind them, Arc-V was able to finish it’s story while V//R was cancelled

Family Bonds, Chapter 18: Pleading
Thanks to the generous gifts that Zarc’s fans had given him for the kiddos, the asparagus-haired man had a nice little stroller that fit all four boys perfectly. Which made going out with them relatively simple. Apart from the many fans who liked to approach the family, and the many challengers who wanted a duel from Zarc. Fortunately the fans that came up to Zarc weren’t the crazy kind who wanted to clone him or anything, and the challengers realized that a duel wouldn’t be feasible while Zarc had the toddlers out and accepted his offers to duel later at the Crystal Agency.
But alas, not all the people who approached Zarc were so welcome. In fact, Zarc received a blast from the past one day when he was taking his toddlers to the Crystal Agency on-site park to play. He was adjusting the shade visor on their stroller to make sure Yuri and Yuya were well covered, since redheads like them burned very easily (yes, Zarc considered Yuri’s pink hair to qualify him as a redhead, since pink was, after all, a shade of light red), when suddenly he heard a voice that made him cringe behind him.
“Zarc!” It was his old boss, looking rather distressed. Zarc would be lying if he said that his old boss’s distress wasn’t enjoyable to him. After all the mistreatment Zarc’d suffered under him, and all the cruel and hateful things he’d said about the little ones, the distress on his face was quite satisfying.
“What do you want?” he asked coldly. His old boss rushed to him and started pleading, “You gotta come back to the agency! Ever since you left, we haven’t been getting very many duel contracts, and if we don’t start getting more, the agency will go bankrupt! You were the most popular duelist we had, and when word got out that you’d switched agencies, more than three-quarters of the contracts we had were canceled! It turns out most of the people who wanted to work with us only wanted to do so if you were there!”
“Well, too bad!” Zarc replied. “I’m very happy with my current agency! I make way more money, the place is cleaner, and there’s an on-site daycare so I can drop my kids off and still be around if they need something.”
“We’ll build a daycare in one of the old rooms! We’ll clean up the building! We’ll pay you more! Please, Zarc! Come back to the agency!” the old boss begged.
“Do you really think you can afford to do all that if you’re nearing bankruptcy?” Zarc asked, raising an eyebrow. The old boss stammered, then said, “W-well, if you come back, the contracts will come pouring in again, and then we’ll be able to afford it all!”
“Except for the fact that, even if I was willing to come back, I wouldn’t do so until after there was an on-site daycare and the place was cleaned up,” Zarc pointed out. “I’m not willing to be separated from my young children, and there’s absolutely no way I’d let them be in such a filthy building again! But even if you did do all that, I still wouldn’t come back. I’ve got an agency that I’m happy with, and I was never happy back at yours. Plus, you were simply awful to me and my little ones! There’s no way I’d ever return!”
“Please, Zarc!” his old boss literally threw himself at Zarc’s feet. “The agency has been in my family for five generations! My great-great-grandfather founded it! You wouldn’t let five generations of hard work be destroyed, would you?”
“Oh, please, you did that yourself!” Zarc scoffed. “Seriously, you’ve been driving the agency into the ground ever since you inherited it! You never put in any work of your own! You were always relying on me to keep it afloat, and you couldn’t even be bothered to do anything to make me feel like my efforts were appreciated! In fact, you seemed to be actively trying to make me feel like I wasn’t wanted! Sorry not sorry, my final answer is no. Don’t try to ask me again.”
And with that, he continued on his way with his little ones and his dragons, leaving his old boss to his despair.

So for Day 5 of the event, I used prompt 12 and FLOWER SHOP for Yuya from Kokoro no Basuke! This is the first time I’m writing for this fandom here on the blog, just seeing if anyone enjoys it and wants to see more of it. I hope even one of you enjoy this!
What kind of flowers do you like?
While flowers aren’t normally Yuya’s kind of thing, like at all, he is admittedly more pulled towards certain flowers than others. He actually really dislikes roses of any kind (there’s something about the smell that really turns him off) but he really likes brightly coloured flowers of other varieties. Orange lilies and bright red tulips are aesthetically very appealing to him. Overall, though, if he suddenly gained an interest in plants, he’d take a potted plant over flowers any day.
Would you rather give flowers or have someone buy flowers for you?
There are so many other gifts that Yuya would prefer over flowers. Even when getting presents for other people, he tends to be a gift card kind of gift-giver, just to ensure the person getting the gift is able to get something they really like, want, or need. If he had to choose though, he’d rather give flowers to someone than get them. He just has very little use for flowers, he’s not a fan of a lot of flowery smells, and they’d get thrown out very quickly with him.
If you were mad at someone, would flowers make you forgive them?
Kind of. It’s not the flowers that would make him forgive someone, but more that they were going out of their way to show that they were truly sorry and to try to do something nice for him. While he can definitely be very short-tempered and quick to anger, he’s just as quick to forgive and forget, especially if the person he’s mad at is doing things to show they’re genuinely sorry about what they did to make him angry and do care that they upset him.
If you could send flowers to someone for free and in secret, who would you send them to?
Probably his mother. Yuya isn’t a fan of flowers, but he knows his mother loves them. She’s really into gardening and he’d get her potted flowers or flowers she could add to her garden.

Reporters flock around you like you're holding a press meeting, camera flashes going off and multiple questions being asked at once.
"Excuse me!" One reporter shouts among the sea of voices, clear enough for you to hear. They clear their throat when they realize they have your attention before continuing.
"As the CEO of Treydia, how do you feel about this Ryuumi character? Do you think his relationship with Lydia will negatively impact her life, or be a good thing for her?"
"Is Sheep gonna write a Treydia fic anytime soon!?" Another reporter shouts, clearly upset by the lack of content.
[OOC: Sorry, I got the idea and I figured I'd roll with it lol ♡]
Sheepy is enjoying my suffering , I’m here trying to make content for the Diya fans and get this dropped on me
Ryuumi is NEGATIVE!!!! Given that he can just make Lydia disappear I don’t think that would positive🚶‍♀️ one argument and Boom you’re back to being a Ghost (but it’s for the Lore)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ryuumi to me
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Imma send Astrid to fight him or Yuya giving that they’re already dead or half dead? Many fractions given that their soul is shattered so that would be interesting

alright, i'm done done now. 99 hrs (according to steam) and 51% completion. didn't attempt the amon boss fight cos it means doing one as akiyama and i'd die immediately i'm a coward but maybe another game
can see the faults people have with it (the enemy encounters oh god) and there's just some bizarre choices made but it has dreams heart and idk, i had fun. shinada is there. haruka hit a dude with a fan. it's a huge turning point for kiryu's character. saejima can dress up santa. good enough for me
longer thoughts below the cut, roughly 4k words (tho i trimmed it down, believe it or not). mostly in chronological order and written as i was playing
nakajima i would die for you
throwing maths questions at me as part of a substory what is this, do i look like i can do ratios??? no! << hi me from the end of the game, then there’s shinada’s substory where it makes you calculate change, and then the academic course at the batting centre in kamurocho. rgg are you secretly trying to turn this into a maths edutainment game
nagasugai’s nice, kinda chill while still being busy if that makes sense
there’s A Lot that the game throws at you at once, huh. training with sousuke, two separate taxi driving minigames, tatsuya the chef, then all the stuff with aizawa and morinaga, it’s busy! so don’t mind me i’m just gonna avoid the main plot for a while and go headfirst into the side content asdfghjkl. fuck pedestrians tho
really like the scene with haruka and kiryu on the beach.
every time the plot means i have to go over even vaguely in the direction of nagasu taxi, or i’m doing training with sousuke, i get stuck doing the taxi minigame for like 45 minutes cos even tho i think it could be better it’s weirdly moreish. i can’t explain it
taxi minigame gets a thumbs up from me. bits of it are kind of poorly designed and the spread of talking and driving events could be more balanced imo (maybe i just did them in a weird order) but the story and development of nagasu taxi during the devil killers plotline is great, 10/10 would do again. like the hug, between nakajima and his rival? fantastic moment. plus taxi customisation with appropriately awful options! nakajima hope you’re doing well, sorry i’m gonna abandon you in half a chapter (that scene’s so sad).
wish the sousuke training plotline was a bit beefier (even including the bit in kamurocho at the end) but i like the kid so idk
second health bar???? okaaaaay aasdfghjkl (tho why is this locked behind the tatsuya chef thingy, like i get they want you to go off and do all the side content but they couldn’t have let you do an example with him first? so you know what kind of benefits you get from him and whether he’s worth it? same with revelations, obvs i know what they are cos i played the previous two but they’re explained very badly)
kiryu just straight up socking yuya in the jaw during that one substory will never not be funny to me, it’s so out of the blue
last little bit of the kiryu chapter was really good, kiryu vs an army was occasionally kind of annoying cos it’s easy to get swarmed and the lock-on is inconsistent af, but cos all those guys are basically made of tissue paper you can just fly through them like it’s nothing. really satsifying. same for the cutscenes, i feel like they lay the groundwork for stuff that’s coming later well (kurosawa being manipulative af as per) and establish how kiryu’s character has shifted in this one (beyond the rest of the chapter). also watase!!!! can see why they brought him back in later games, it’d be such a waste to leave him
onto saejima!
ahh, the famous tripe scene. 10/10 for majima(‘s facial expressions)
during kiryu’s bit i had the bit of gear that makes it so you can avoid encounters, i don’t have that here so i’m just inundated with encounters, it’s killing me and i know it’s not gonna get better asdfghjkl <<< me from the end of the game again, every time i had to swap characters you best believe i was moving those beads between everybody like they were a hot potato. makes walking around town soooo much more bearable.
still not sure whether majima faked missing that ball or not. the mix of truth and lie in that scene is interesting (or at least it is when it gets recontextualised at the end) but that’s the one bit i’m unsure on.
going into the prison section with the knowledge that baba is lying is great, i’m seeing stuff i missed first time round. let saejima’s ‘healing via kyoudai-ification’ begin!
all the prison guys are fun and great, connection really is a big theme with this one huh.
so like, the ghostly mind palace thing asdfghjkl i get that it’s to get around the issue that came up in 4 (and is more pronounced here cos you spend more time there) of having fuck all to do in prison except walk from person to person and waiting for all the dialogue to go through, but it’s so weird! having to do a hostess session (and optionally? karaoke) as part of the main story is such a bold decision. having said that cos the game is already kinda blurry, the massive violet and white filter over everything plus the short draw distance makes it very difficult to see and kinda uncomfortable to look at for extended periods of time. shame, ghostly himura looks great.
BUT saejima’s interjections for rouge of love are fucking great
the snowmobile section was better than the boat one from 4! but not by much tbh, feels vaguely comparable to that one speed racer mission on endor in lego star wars but less punishing if (when) you hit a tree.
that bear is fucking HUGE looking forward to unravelling the mysteries behind the village and okadera tho
the hunting minigame doesn’t feel so bad for now, but i imagine it might get kinda boring down the line. we’ll see
update on the hunting minigame, got two main quests left and it’s actually been pretty easy to get into. kind of time consuming and, like the darts minigame, sometimes you miss when you absolutely should’ve hit, but the story is interesting and it’s weirdly relaxing. maybe cos it’s so quiet. not sure how i feel about the side missions yet cos i’ve not done many cos it needs me to get martens and i have piss poor luck so i haven’t found any <<< me from the end of the game, uh, they were fine? the only one i really remember is the woman who asks you for a hare to feed to her mother-in-law cos she said she hates them but then the mother-in-law comes to you and is like thanks i love hare, she’s so easily manipulated haw di haw. weird.
still got piss poor luck on the martens but! finished the main plotline of the hunting minigame and ahhhh really liked it. dunno if the parallels with baba are intentional but they’re there imo. interesting reveal (it all comes at once, but the clues were mostly there), nice emotional payoff, good time all round. accidentally sold all my meat before doing the final boss so had to do the yama-oroshi fight on a hope and a prayer but i managed it! some fucking bizarre translation decisions (why are you writing full sentences when characters are just making hmm noises, or even being silent! what is this!) that feel more prominent here than elsewhere but difficult to tell.
on the translation, i just, idk. if i didn’t know any japanese would i be bothered about it? probably not, but i’d definitely notice, and i feel like you don't want that as a translator?
10/10 for the substory where you have to do a chase mission dressed as santa to get away from a bunch of kids while jingle bells plays in the background
the pacing in saejima’s section is so weird, cos you get loads of time to yourself, then it speeds through two days in the space of maybe ten minutes, and then it’s basically nonstop from there. having said that i don’t hate it? it gives you time to explore if you want, i just don’t space out my substories very well.
baba’s twinky as fuck turtleneck is so distracting asdfghjkl
i really like baba and saejima’s thing they have going on, their relationship (bond, ig) and how it affects baba going forward is really compelling to me.
oh god tho between that and the massive amounts of cutscene it puts you through at the end of saejima’s and the beginning of haruka’s bit, it’s killer.
mirei’s gonna need her own section in these notes huh.
so i left the above note when i was actually at her section in the game, and then i didn’t put anything in here until i was finished with the thing as a whole, cos i have such complicated feelings on her. i wish she’d been in the game more, i wish she wasn’t trauma-dumping in every scene she’s in but if she doesn’t do that in the short time frame she has then her character arc (and haruka’s emotional one) doesn’t make sense, i wish she didn’t die off-screen with all of her motivations explained by other, male, characters.
but then she (intentionally or not) shows the inheritance cycle of abuse well, and her relationship with haruka is compelling partly cos of haruka’s side of ‘she’s never really had a mother anymore how does that make her feel’ but also cos i don’t know whether she’s genuinely attached or is being manipulative for the sake of having haruka fulfill her own lost dream. idk, she got shafted by the narrative in some ways but i think about her fairly often and i think that says smth about her.
ANYWAY
why is haruka’s text sort of pink and literally no one else’s except the hostesses in the flirty sections. what’s with that. is it cos the guys’ is a darker blue/grey and they wanted hers to not be that
quickfire, opinions on haruka’s various minigame things:
dance battle (and solo) - dull on lower level difficulties, engaging enough on the higher ones. doing them outside of the main plot (and the side story plot) is kinda pointless tho, the difficulty scaling on this entire bit is so bad, i was op after one chapter
performance (princess league etc) - again, too easy on low level, sort of engaging on higher ones. songs are great tho so it’s fine
comedy duo - very good fun, wish it was longer. watching haruka smack people (with a fan!) and speak kansai-ben is great.
interviews/dialogue choice ones - mixed bag. one with the morning glory kids was great tho
talk show with the comedian - eh. never really had a sense of when i was succeeding or failing
quiz game show - not bad! not great either!
running girl - nope. is this a parody of smth specific, it has to be, it’s so bad, so uncomfortable.
minigames (refuse to lose, fishin, etc. but on TV! so it’s different!) - the minigames are good, so this is fun. also like how they introduce different girls and the interactions haruka has with them, made them more interesting than i was expecting. very funny to me that a good chunk take place outside sotenbori including in bee in nagusagai! like!!!
the story ones (the ones that are jus text, no gameplay) - like these. the one where the producer tries to force haruka to have sex with him is a bit ehhhhh (i get what they’re going for, i’m just not sure they entirely land it) but the other ones are nice enough. more kamiya dolce is always good
HANA!!!!! why doesn’t she have a character portrait, is this like a nishida in kiwami situation or does she have a model once we get to kamurocho or what << she does not. boo.
also saigo, my man, very glad to see him back and batshit as ever, his training was very fun. machine gun still annoying af tho
haruka’s little 決めちゃうぞ before certain minigames (i’ve had it before bowling and darts) is the cutest thing, i heard it and was like that one hold on i need a minute meme. she must’ve picked that up from kiryu, surely
i thought this the first time i watched the plot through, but is akiyama not noticeably more bloodthirsty in this one than the last one? yeah he’s still the same old akiyama but he’s saying lines like ‘no complaints if you die’ and shit which seems kinda...idk. harsh. nvm when he leaves ogita with a crushed arm and waits for him to explain everything before trying to move him.
yamori backstory! info-dump-y but great to see!!! << shame this is like the only bit of character development akiyama really gets in the whole game. it’s probably not a huge deal, but considering how everyone else gets a significant chunk of time devoted to them and their arc it really stands out that he doesn’t get that.
also very much here for the yoko/uda background semi-romance thing going on in haruka’s training segments, it’s a fun time. gonna miss you yoko
here, in last chapter of haruka and akiyama’s bit, basically after katsuya gets introduced is where the plot starts losing me (and then in completely loses me in shinada’s section). there’s so fucking many moving pieces, keeping track of them all to a meaningful degree just isn’t possible, and i’m not entirely sure some of them make sense.
also how the everloving fuck is kurosawa just like, teleporting from city to city to be Manipulative and Mysterious, there’s overlap to everyone’s bits before they arrive in kamurocho, right? kiryu’s and haruka’s bits take place over the same few days, and i assume saejima’s does too, but kurosawa always shows up towards the end of everyone’s bits. so did he talk to kiryu in nagusagai, sprint all the way to sotenbori to hit up akiyama, sprint all the way *back* to nagusagai to talk to kiryu again, and then go alll the way up to tsukimino to grab saejima???? what’s the timing on all these???
katsuya’s interesting. wish there was more of him. kanai can go suck a dick tho
shinatatsuuuuuuuu
his sections are really, really heavy on the cutscene huh. weirdly i’m okay with it tho? maybe it’s cos i’m more than used to the yakuza style of cutscene by now but they’re really engaging and fun to watch, they rarely feel like as long as they have been. thinking about the scene where takasugi is like you can lose your fingers or take this job from daigo’s perspective is hilarious to me like was he just watching that in stoic silence the entire time asdfghjkl
10/10 for the substory where you have to do a chase mission dressed as santa to get away from a bunch of kids while jingle bells plays in the background

his sections are really, really heavy on the cutscene huh. weirdly i’m okay with it tho? maybe it’s cos i’m more than used to the yakuza style of cutscene by now but they’re really engaging and fun to watch, they rarely feel like as long as they have been. thinking about the scene where takasugi is like you can lose your fingers or take this job from daigo’s perspective is hilarious to me like was he just watching that in stoic silence the entire time asdfghjkl
leo you strange person
my one real issue with the shinada bit, aside from some pacing issues between main and side content, is how when two people die in front of him in quick succession, both very painfully and very violently, shinada has basically no reaction??? like, i know people have just spent an afternoon trying to run him over with a car, but could he not have been a bit more surprised? he’s a civilian! and one unconnected to any sort of crime outside of all the shit in the adult entertainment industry, which is hardly sunshine and roses but idk it seems a bit different to watching a guy get crushed underneath a heavy piece of machinery two feet away from you.
like shinada’s side content for the same reason i liked the taxi ones, they’re fun, short, and add character to all involved. i didn’t start them for a while cos i felt weird doing anything non-plot while attached to takasugi (which is like, a chapter and a half consecutively, at least) but i’ve done basically all of them in one go now. having said that i did not keep any of those baseball people straight, at all.
yeah plot’s basically lost me now. ig this is what happens when you’ve essentially got five games you need to glue together at the last minute and you have nowhere near enough glue.
and i said i wouldn’t comment on the translation again but holy shit before the baba/kiryu fight, and he’s like 行きます!perfectly normal thing to say before fighting someone great, so why is it translated as ‘only children believe in dragons’ or whatever the line was like ????? i get they added in the dragon shit in the translation in earlier bits but that did not need to be there! honestly so much of that conversation and the one between saejima and aizawa, just some really odd choices.
god there’s so much cutscene in the last few chapters before the finale. like, i like the cutscenes, and this bit includes some of my favourite in the series (kiryu crying after daigo gets shot, the baba/haruka conversation, the saejima/kiryu convo on the roof of new serena) but goddddd the pacing suffers. it’s like watching several episodes of tv back to back. cos there’s that what half an hour fight section before the four way boss fight on the roof with watase and katsuya etc. and then half an hour of cutscene, then like ten minutes of fight, then 40 more minutes of cutscene before you can freely move again. that’s rough, man. OH ALSO if you’re gonna give us that much cutscene and then *deny me* the shinada/daigo hospital visit.... cruel, rgg, cruel.
saejima/kiryu rooftop convo notes: 5 is such a turning point for kiryu and his character and its this scene that really puncuates that for me (same with the post-daigo getting shot scene which also includes saejima. that look he gives kiryu when haruka’s name comes up!!). especially interesting in light of six and (i assume) infinite wealth where he does actually learn and stick to the power of friendship.
really random but i love the idea of everyone like okay, we really might die tomorrow (again) so go do any last minute shit you need. time passes. akiyama: so guys, can you all tell me what you had for lunch in your respective cities, i’m helping some guy out asdfghjkl everyone else is doing similar shit so it’s fine but it’s like let’s go prepare, get ourselves ready....and they’re creating new menus for restaurants halfway across the country. then, ten minutes later: guys, i need more hostesses for my club, can you go hit your girls up for me pretty please byeeeee asdfghjkl
the prize tickets minigame is the worst one in the series. fight me.
i’ve unlocked an amon fight for the first time! <<< i didn’t do it. i’m a coward i know
aside from how the finale is kind of a mess it is fun to play through. i tigerdropped my way through the final boss like the cheese i am, all good
also had no idea aizawa was kurosawa’s kid (was missed out of my initial watch-through) and this somehow still does not justify him being the final boss. admittedly there’s not a whole lot of characters left by the time you get there but still!
speaking of final bosses i think out of all the games these are the ones that feel the most contrived? which might be a hot take but hear me out. akiyama and kanai makes sense (up until watase and co come in to save the day and rob akiyama of literally the only thing he’d been doing all game but i digress). saejima and majima makes sense, ig, clearly consensual across all parties so whatever (plus the boss theme is really good so). haruka doesn’t have any sort of final gameplay section, which sucks and is weird. shinada and baba makes zero sense to me, the only reason it happens is because that’s where they two of them get washed by the plot but then any emotional catharsis for the two of them (which there absolutely needs to be) has to come from outside sources that are just shoehorned in there. like it’s not *bad* it just feels like when they were pairing up bosses they realised these two were the ones they had left over. kiryu and aizawa makes sense in internal logic but from a player’s perspective it’s just like huh??? that guy??? the whole time, especially cos you’ve fought him once already and he didn’t have fucking 9 health bars.
ANYWAY my boss line-up cos why tf not: take aizawa out (as a boss) entirely and have kiryu’s final boss be majima (conflict is him being willing to die for his daughter and majima wants him to get off his arse and fight for her, plus daigo reunion and they can have a more meaningful an interaction which leads into 6’s finale better). saejima’s final boss be baba (the other guys can still show up if he’d called them off-screen and then it can be a big prison family reunion), if they can beef up aizawa’s healthbar they can do it to baba’s. aizawa and shinada tag-team a more powerful kanai? like you’d play as one character while fighting him together, then smth would happen and you’d be stuck playing as akiyama to save shinada for a health bar or two, then smth would happen again and you’d swap back to shinada, and then there’d be a cool two person QTE and everyone can go home. there’s a full version of the dreamline debut song that you play through like all the other haruka sections somewhere in the middle, maybe give it a dance break too. just smth, anything. i know this has problems but idk, is this anything?
have a sinking suspicion they ran out of room/time, because in terms of cutscenes that looked like they were going to be in there but weren’t, there’s the shinada/daigo hospital scene, and morinaga’s death/some sort of conversation between him and aizawa. like, there’s no closure on that, and there really should be considering how important it is to several plot events and also aizawa as a character. idk.
5 really is just a whole bunch of small tragedies playing out and intersecting with one another in different ways, and for all the faults those tragedies have (in construction, or in pay-off) i really do appreciate meeting all these characters and the game made me feel for them. so many good characters never to be seen again. oh rgg.
the final hostess is such a pain to unlock and do to completion and she’s not even remotely worth it.
also, in shellac, why is there a comedy duo just running the bar??? why can you watch one of their routines???? utterly bizarre choice, especially cos you’ve got no reason to go over there unless you’re doing the game to completion
and finally, shinada’s interjections are the best in the game fight me
well there's the plot done FINALLY
