The thing that's gonna gall me is that the residents of those states will probably assume it was brought to them by Republicans.

Something that I really haven't seen anyone comment on was part of what Biden has been trying to do for the last 4 years is shore up the factions of the party: he knew progressives were part of the tent so he gave Bernie the Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions chair; he knew black people also hold up Democratic numbers each cycle (plus got him to win the primary) so he promised his first Supreme Court judge would be a black woman; and he repeatedly tried to get the white working class back through measures such as these.

He knew that the loss of manufacturing jobs is a sore point so part of why so many of those jobs are in Republican districts is because they're actually manufacturing jobs, building the computer chips and solar panels, etc. that'll build the renewable energy infrastructure of this country that was part of his infrastructure push. Basically, melding working class and green energy interests and undercutting a major Republican talking point that the Democrats don't care about the working class because they keep killing the coal and oil jobs and that's why we need to not phase out those valuable (to corporations…) sources of energy.

And I'll bet you they'll end up attributing this stuff to Trump and the Republicans, the same way people thought Obamacare and the Affordable Care Act were different things and the former should be killed.

All that work and the Democrats will still be the "out-of-touch" ones who don't understand the average American.

I got carded at the movies with my partner recently and the guy (who was young enough to be my son) asked how we were related, like he thought my partner was my legal guardian? and we were like "we're not lol" and showed him our IDs since that's clearly where this was going and he looked so embarrassed when he saw. I can’t take criticism on Mel seriously because most of it is done by jayviks who say she’s pretty and call it a day then act like they love her😭. just to add, cause this has also been bothering me, Gavin can detect feelings, if Freelancer was uncomfortable he would have known. Listening to it myself a few more times it even seems as if the Freelancer joins in on teasing Lasko with the whole 7/11 conversation. I know the video's made by Erik are for self inserts/OC's but each character has a base personality and Freelancer is always someone who seems to be a quiet person. Like you said they give off someone who likes just being there. I think these people are wanting to force their selves/ oc's so much into the story without allowing them to have the base personality of the character.

The way people are misinterpreting this latest audio is driving me nuts

First off, Gavin and Freelancer are casual partners at this point. This takes place before the confession audio. That audio is where Gavin confesses to being in love with freelancer, so it is possible that they would call each other their partner because it's somewhere more than friends but not to the extent of full on dating. Gavin had already met the boys before he confessed as seen in a 18+ video where freelancer hosts a party.

Second, I see people getting mad that freelancer isn't talked to that much. The pauses for the listener to speak is more obvious in these group videos, so, to avoid having the video feel clunky, freelancer is given less pauses for speaking. I don't see this as a bad thing in the context of the story because I've always seen freelancer as the kind of person who likes observing people. I'm the same way. I'm completely fine with not being fully part of a conversation as long as I'm just with people. I don't need to be speaking that often to feel included, and I love just sitting back and being in the moment with my friends. This is how I interpret the freelancers role in this video.

Lastly, freelancer has NEVER been bothered by Gavin flirting with Lasko. Plus, they aren't even in a committed relationship yet, so why would it bother them? They love teasing Lasko just as much as Gavin does (even after Gav and Freelancer are committed to each other), so why are people now having a problem with it?

There have been so many people lately completely misinterpreting the story because they want to find problems in everything istg. It's just a cute first meetings video calm down.

That viral post that's going around about how people who write "book quality" mlm fic are too "normal" to publish and have real jobs so only "weird" people publish their "shitty" fanfic is so completely out of touch with reality and I am giving a massive side eye to everyone reblogging it.

Not only is it completely, easily verifiably untrue (you cannot enter any professional writing space without tripping over a dozen grizzled scifi writers who got their start by filing off the serial numbers and publishing their Star Trek fanfic even going back decades ago??? it's a whole thing?? plus how can you look at the mlm category on Amazon right now and say with a straight face that people aren't publishing shitty Spirk and Stucky fanfic??? Oh, honey...) it's also the perfect example of this kind of sneering elitism that true artists would never sully themselves by seeking profit, they do it only for the purity of the thing that always somehow leads back to, "no one should be paid to make art, actually."

The only reason you're seeing more published fanfic right now has nothing to do with the idealistic purity of your hypothetical government employee written smut of the past vs the debased scribbles of those awful straights of today and everything to do with the fact that a) self-publishing has created a voracious readership that wants a ton of content so it's become a viable, flexible income stream for many, especially disabled people b) anyone can publish now with self-publishing tools so there are less gatekeepers and c) lockdown got a lot of people into fandom and therefore writing who never tried it before.

And if you really think there's no "shitty" published mlm and no "book-quality" m/f writing out there that started as fanfic, then you are clearly not a reader so why are you even talking about this?

Okay I cannot believe I'm about to go off like this, but this has been bothering me for awhile, and it's only making me more spiteful. I have been enjoying the influx of Billford art lately. Amazing, great wonderful. What I have Not been enjoying, is the absolute vitriol the Billdip fans have been getting since the influx of TBOB. I was a billdip shipper for awhile. Hell I was a billdip shipper when I was a Parapines shipper-- I liked shipping Dipper with boys. I was also like 14 or 15 at the time. Obviously, if you follow me now, you'll probably notice what my main ship for Dipper is. I grew out of Billdip, and moved on to Pinescone. I have been shipping Pinescone for 10 years. However, not once did I go around saying "Lol, glad I matured and became a better person and shipped something healthier", nor did I post in the billdip tag, condeming people for a fictional ship! And saying mine was better because it was less problematic.

People couldn't ship Fordbill because there wasn't any Ford to introduce.

It doesn't matter! I did that when I was a kid-- and then realized that was rude, and it was better to just ignore the ships I didn't like and enjoy the ones that made me happy. And grow a community of kind, like minded friends. And listen, I am all for safe spaces and being able to block things that make you uncomfortable. I am not saying people who find the BillDip ship uncomfortable to be idiots or babies or overly sensitive-- or anything like that. I think if something makes you uncomfortable, that is okay and I think it's perfectly fine to blacklist a tag that you don't want to see. I also think it's imperative that people tag things as accurately as they can so people looking at your work can know if one of your pieces has a thing that they don't like-- and therefore can avoid. What I don't appreciate is the fanhate for this ship that is sprouting up like weeds. You can not like something, you can be disgusted by it (I have my Gravity Falls ships I can not stand, nor do I feel comfortable with), but attacking real people for a FICTIONAL SHIP-- two characters who are drawings on a piece of paper and can not be affected mentally, physically or emotionally by fanwork; who still retain the same shape after everything we put them through-- to the point that you send death threats, or threaten to Doxx, or just harass relentlessly, I have always found that more childish and disgusting. You are causing real world pain to people. Me fucking up Dipper Pines is not going to do anything to him-- because he doesn't actually exist. He's a cartoon character. I could squash him and stretch him in Wonka's taffy machine--- I could throw him mock speed at a wall and watch him explode on impact-- but he still exists. He's not dead; I can pick him up and dust him off, and If I wanted-- I could decide that eh, 'Not a scratch on him'. And I'd be right. Because he is a cartoon character, and I am just a fangirl. I can not change anything about him-- I have no ability to make anything I headcanon canon. And even if I was the original artist-- it doesn't change the fact that Dipper would still be nothing more than a creation. A construct of shapes; he can not be hurt or traumatized in a way that leads to real life consequences-- because he is not real. I am not a cartoon character. My friends are not cartoon characters. Artist and Writers who stay in their lane...are not cartoon characters. If you hurt us...it will linger. It will leave a scar. If you can not tell the difference between Fiction and Reality, then I think maybe media might be too much to handle-- and I think you need to really reevaluate yourself.

And just to vent some other things that i keep seeing that are frustrating: You can't claim the twins are only 13-- and then on August 31st go "Happy 20-something Birthday Mabel and Dipper!" And then proceed to drop a picture of them as adults. Well which is it? Do they age or not? Because Gravity Falls showed them canonically aging. If you think the twins age-- then you can't suddenly turn around and go, 'no you can't ship them-- Dipper is a child!' but you drew him as an adult. So sorry, it looks like you can't draw the twins grown up anymore. You claimed they're 13, so better draw them 13 forever--. Aged up stories and works exist for a reason, especially for a fan who grew up on the series. The characters might have grown up alongside them. It's not unlikely for a person to ship Billdip when Dipper is much older.

And on that note, for people who are like 'well older billdip is fine-- it's just people shipping him during the show that deserve to die.' Okay... and like I said, this rant is coming from a recent influx of Billford shippers spitting on Billdip shippers. You know? The TOXIC Old Man Yaoi!

You're still shipping something that is problematic. You are still shipping something twisted and wrong. And I am not judging you. I am here for this divorced arc. I am thriving. But you can't just pick and choose what is and isn't okay. And let me first off explain; if there is something that personally triggers you about a toxic ship, and you want to avoid that-- again, perfectly understandable. Perfectly reasonable. You are the makers of your content space. And I am not judging anyone for that. I want people to be safe. I want people to have a good time in fandom spaces. I want people to not have to deal with the things that upset them or frighten them, or disgust them. But you can not say one is fine, and one is not. They're both bad! They're both toxic. In real life, these ships would both be charged with serious crimes! And yes, there are some crimes that are worse than others, and if you asked me what I thought was more problematic-- I'd say Billdip-- but both of these ships are extreme, and severe in their problematic content. You are still consuming problematic content. If it's a personal thing, that's fine; avoid it. But don't sit there throwing stones from your glass house.

I don't think you can even compare WtA and W5 on the same level.

WtA was made by people who truly wanted to try and address the issues the game brings up. The setting is fully fleshed out and has a lot of complexity to it. It is also one of the few games that manages to depict animism in a way that's not confusing to non-animistic people. W5 is clumsy, it is used as a soapbox for the devs in a way that does not make the game any better. W5 core actively guilt trips you for wanting to play a garou. On top of everything, W5 products so far have spent more time depicting neo-nazi than any sort of animism. In fact, the core actively puts down animism AND oral traditions. W5's concept has potential, as I've seen many people say getting into WtA's lore is hard. Having a game that has a lower lore-entry level and one where the PCs aren't as pressured by garou culture would be good. But if the corebook itself basically tells you that being a werewolf and using werewolf tools is the Wrong Way, why play a werewolf?

Back from the void to officially state I think older WTA lore outcompetes W5 lore by a huge margin, and that's even after factoring in all the really bad shit in there tbh from major representation issues, to the Black Furies omg??

But there's just at least something to respond to! I need to take a break from WOD games and play some new systems to detox after my current games (as much as I'm now staring at Dark Ages WTA???) but if I went back I might have to switch either lore or even entire system...

Dothraki clothing ideas or as I like to call it trying to fix George’s mistakes

The Dothraki sea is gigantic I don’t understand why they’re all wearing the same thing. Weather affects what you wear!! There should be heavy furs and leathers farther north and light wools near the center. And everyone should be wearing multiple layers why are the Dothraki always half naked. The sun and the wind are your worst enemy if your constantly riding, you need to cover up!! Also colors need to be a thing (yes even for the average Dothraki not just the Khals)

Again why are Khals and Khaleesis essentially wearing the same clothing as slaves and common folk. These people are said to have immense pride, so they should use their spoils from raids and pillages to decorate themselves lavishly. The daughter of a Khal should be dripped the fuck out in beads and metalwork and dyed heavy fabrics. The common members of the Khal would be the ones wearing worn leathers, so they can protected themselves while riding and herding

Hats and Headdresses oh my goddd why is every fantasy show afraid of covering their heads. Imagine how cool horsehair headpieces would look, maybe they’re significant for a bride or married woman or religious figure. And there should be everyday hats as well. There’s no shade in the Dothraki sea, so everyone should be wearing a variety of hats depending on weather and their status.

Silhouettes should have some similarities, but still differ from each other based on location. The basic look would most likely be a wrapped tunic with slits on the side to easily mount and ride horses, and a belt to hold everything together. And this should just be the basic shape, people would add their own embroidery or overcoats or detachable sleeves etc etc

Finally: Khalasars need to be DISTINCT from each other. It doesn’t make sense that every single Khalasar we see wears tan leather and horse hair and blue paint. Maybe one tribe can be recognized by the shape of their hats or the fact that they have some clothing inspired by YiTi, because they are so close. Maybe another can be recognized by their bright blue pigment they use to dye most of their garments. This is a huge culture there needs to be distinctions based on location
