#sorry time for my usual “you can make art actually yes you I'm not kidding” rant

Ngl the concept of natural talent has done so much harm to our relationship to art and I hate it. No one is naturally talented at anything, get that idea out of your head. Artists are not like, special or gifted or blessed or whatever, we're just people who like art enough to keep making it, and thus there is nothing stopping you or anyone else from making art. You were not born without the artist gene and thus doomed to never find joy in drawing or singing or acting or sculpting, you're a person and people have ALWAYS made art.

It just like, it fucking kills me so much every single time I hear someone say that they would love to draw but they're just "naturally bad" at it and so they can't, especially when they then contrast themselves against me and imply I have some natural talent that means I can be an artist because no!! I don't!! The only reason I'm "good" at drawing is bcs I never stopped. I picked up a crayon as a baby and I never put it down and so I have like 27 years of experience drawing, that's why I'm "good" at it. So please trust me when I say anyone can draw. And cook. And paint and sing and act and dance. You were not born lacking, you're just new to it! You just have to keep going, you'll get better!

I just...it's so fucking heartbreaking to constantly hear the people around me essentually claim that they were born incomplete and thus they can never have fun drawing or singing or just making art. That's a horrible thing to believe, and I know our society does nothing but reinforce it by punishing us for not being perfect and making a mockery of amatures and pushing the talent myth, but trust me, you were not born wrong. There is no "make art gene" that you're missing. As cheesy as it sounds, you actually can learn to do almost anything if you put your mind to it. It might not be easy, but you are not broken. You're just learning.

I've posted this before but I'll post it again bcs he's right:

Making art is human. You can make art. Hell, you can make bad art! You don't have to improve! Art isn't about good or bad, it's about partaking in a human activity because it makes us happy. I really think society would be a better place if everyone was allowed to make as much art as they want, good or bad, bcs this weird dual reverence for talent and disregard for the actual work that goes into art just serves to bolster the capitalist, AI ridden hellscape that we live in today.

Anyway, if you are one of those people who is holding back from trying some kind of art bcs you're not talented, do me the favor of trying again. I want to see all of the beautiful, earnest, imperfect art my fellow humans make. We need that now, honestly. So please, don't give up. Make art. And if you can't, well, at least try to support the people around you who do, even if they aren't churning out masterpieces. Trust me, it's good for you. It's good for all of us.

I headcannon that canon Spamton's body shrunk when he fell into an acid pool. My Spamton fell into an acid pool as well, but it didn't shrink him. It destroyed the structure of his body and elongated him. Making him much taller and extremely deformed..

As for what kind of monsters they'd face,, I'm actually unsure- I haven't played either game and I don't know any of the lore or characters.. so I'm not sure what kinds of dangers the real cookie run pirates face.. :( But what I DO know is that Blue Beauty is their main form of protection.

She's not exactly threatening to a lot of creatures I'd imagine.. She is just a Mer-whale. No teeth or stingers to make her more intimidating.. But what she is, is huge. And incredibly strong. She's a real power house and uses tools and weapons the crew taught her how to use to defend herself. And I imagine with her thick blubber, it takes a really deep wound to actually hurt her. So she doesn't fear getting a couple scratches here and there.

When it comes to the other cookies, most everyone stands up and fights. Only a select few retreat to the lower decks to protect their goods or hide. Those likely being Ellie, she's too old for this crap- and Coco and Red, though don't be fooled! Coco can fight! She's just retreating with Red in order to protect him. Everyone else though is up there duking it out with who ever dares cross their ship! ⚔⚔

I'm sorry that happened to you but it would have happened regardless of the existence of lolisho. Abusers are gonna abuse no matter what. This was the first thing I learned in therapy. What's funny is it was lolisho that help me realize my abuse. Yes I understood sexual abuse conceptually but I couldn't recognize it happening to ME until I saw my situation reflected back at me in a safe sane scenario. My therapist said it was bc I was repressing it in denial and only allowing myself to fantasize about it in a safe environment was I able to recognize it as abuse. Funny how life works like that huh.

Oh to explain I completely forgot bc I had to write this twice bc Tumblr crashed. A fetish is a sexual reliance on something to achieve sexual arousal or gratification and can be sexual.outside of sexual contexts. A kink amplifies sexual gratification, usually has to do with roleplay or sexual acts/positions/height/weight and has to be negotiated and communicated and consentual. Ppl do use them interchangeably BUT specifically with the word fetishize ur using it wrong in this case. To fetishize something there must be both dehumanization and objectification. U can not dehumanize or objectify fictional characters they are not human and are already objects.

No I don't support sexual art of children. This sort of phrasing is just a deliberate misrepresention so u can position urself as morally righteous and disengage from the conversation early and not have to examine what anyone is actually saying. They are fictional characters. They can be any age, any race and body type and have any name at any time. They are objects. They don't exist and can not accumulate trauma the way you or i can. They do not need protection.

If u don't like it that's fine. Especially considering your trauma. But ur claim is unsupported and wildly inaccurate. Do not projects ur trauma onto others especially as it pertains to facts about criminal psychology and sex crimes. This is unhealthy and will lead to paranoia that same paranoia that brought u to ur conclusion here. This is not pervasive enough in lolisho to be considered a trend or even the default. But you also could be sharing real abusive images/scenarios no matter what form of media u engage with. But that doesn't not mean we should sanitize art and media on the off chance someone could be evil. Your not exempt from the same personal responsibility ur trying to place on me just bc u don't engage in fictional pornographic material and it's not especially heinous when it's fictional art versus and any other medium. We could all be unknowingly sharing and engageing with abusive material but all we can do is protect and believe victims and figure out as a society how to reduce harm.

No banning lolisho or any media is not a solution. Studies show most csem is produced/distributed by parent/guardians. The best way to protect children is to advocate for children rights and the reduction of parental rights. Experts have been saying this for years. Children being treated like property both by law and society is what is perpetuating their abuse. Not fictional art.

Censorship is not the solution. Any historical application of censorship has always ALWAYS lead to the mistreatment and silencing of victims and marginalized communities. This will make it difficult for victims to appeal to censors and share their stories which are valuable for understanding abuse but also valuable bc it is art. And incentivizing ppl to invade other peoples privacy to be sure they have the right identity/trauma to create a specific type of art is fascism. So is censoring or banning that art. This will do nothing but silence and shame victims. This is happening still right now and has happened plenty in the past. Guilt and shame ONLY perpetuates sexual abuse.

This is also forcing ppl to engage in art and fiction with a paranoid analysis FIRST. telling ppl they can tell whose a good or bad person based on what they draw/write or engage with is not healthy and is antithetical to educating ppl on how to recognize abuse. It's irresponsible and It's giving children and teens anxiety disorders. Look at any ex anti/proship anonymous confessions. Look at the damage ppl are causing with this third grade level of word association and cause and effect. Ppl are developing POCD. Me included ALMOST.

Experts have been saying for decades now that fictional sexual material has no link to escalation into sexual violence or engaging in paraphilias. No fiction doesnt effect reality. these same psychologists that have debunked claims such as "violent video games cause violence" have also researched how it operates the same with fictional sexual material. There's no special circumstance just bc it's sex or porn.

Just bc u navigate the world on disgust and paranoia doesn't mean I have to. I listen to the science and research. While also having my own experience to draw from.

As a CSA victim with a SEX THERAPIST do u really think I would not have done my due diligence before engaging in any community?? I've done a hell of a lot of work to get where I am now. Sexually liberated and healthy. Both personal growth and LOTS of research into sex crimes. And I really don't feel like hearing regressive religiously programmed sex negative thoughts on the fiction I enjoy.

You can't hear it in the 'silence'... I have to get something off my chest

Sorry, this isn't going to be a fun post, but I've thought about it for a few days now, and I really need to get this off my chest if I want to continue talking about Taylor Swift in this space.

Reading Taylor's wrap up post for the London shows/European tour on Wednesday night filled me with relief, but left a bad aftertaste and I couldn't really put my finger on why, but it irked me so much that it kept me up all night. If you haven't seen, this was her post with the usual photo carousel:

So, finally, Miss Swift has found her voice addressing Vienna. And I don’t personally love the way she handled it, but I totally understand her reasoning and am aware that we have very different perceptions of danger given that home invasions and stalking are a frequent occurrence in her world, when that’s not something any of us have to fear.  And I thank Taylor, her team, and the Met Police for how incredibly safe the concerts felt, given the circumstances. But something has been bothering me about all of this, and it’s the way she addresses the ‘silence’.

Why is now the time she can finally “make something very clear”? Where was this when her creepy 'fans' swarmed and harassed her at Jack Antonoff's wedding last summer or when gaylors were told 8 times a day to off themselves following a simple NYT article? Yes, I’m disappointed. Because she can when she wants to. And the ‘restraint’ can sure feel like abandonment when people are hurting and nowhere is safe from Swifties… I doubt anybody really thought she doesn’t care or isn’t working hard to make the shows safe. But I have a question about that.

Why is my safety taken more seriously when I’m attending her concert than when my safe space online is being invaded by people telling me to go die? Twice in the last 8 months have I actually altered my behaviour because I felt distinctly unsafe as a gay woman in a Taylor Swift-related space. Why did it take such a scary event for that stadium to truly feel like a safe space for people to even show up wearing a pride flag as a cape , when back in June, I didn't feel safe enough to wear rainbow laces in my shoes. Because hate that turns into actual real life violence always starts online, and I just didn't want to risk it when people were calling for my public execution on social media mere months ago while Miss Taylor was yet again 'silent'....where was her ability to 'make something very clear' then? Was my safety, all of our collective safety, not important unless I've paid for a ticket to her show? Because I don't see the difference in what it would do to Taylor if even a single life was lost to excessive harassment and bullying by swifties versus if we got attacked at a stadium or during a dance class.

When you go on record saying you never want to be silent on important issues ever again, you can't act all annoyed when people subsequently expect you to say something when a fascist and convicted felon may be elected to government again, or queer people are being harassed within an inch of their lives in your name by your very fans. In the silence, actions speak louder than words and the legacy of a year of WAG Taylor catering to die hard conservative football fans and smiling in photographs with Tr*mp supporters (in an election year!) is really very scary. Those photos on the front of every newspaper may just be louder than any words she said five years ago (and no, performance art does not absolve anyone from that).

I'm all for thinking before speaking, but I don't want to feel like she's actively sending the bullies our way with her actions and verbal 'restraint'. I want to enjoy her art with the people in my community in a safe environment every day, not just when I'm coming to a stadium.

Since it's tour break, I'm also going to take a bit of a break from here, get some perspective, get my kids settled into a new school year. Maybe even try this dating in my 30s thing...(scary!). Have a good September, peeps! 😘

That aside, high low styles and braids. That's what Bloom really vibes in. Something about Bloom and braids I cannot explain it but it looks beautiful and the high low styles just may h Bloom's vibes

Leaving Bloom's bangs letting them be weird is 20/20 Bloom. Yes Bloom cuts her own bangs, how could you tell. She loves her insane bangs

Bloom just rocks braids too. Small decorative braids that wrap around her head and the full on braids. Both look amazing on her

Messy buns are also perfect for Bloom. Matches her art kid vibes perfectly, real buns are great for when she's trying to be fancy. Fancy Bloom with a small bun is always super cute. Nothing can contain her weird girl energy

I wish WOW Bloom had her weird ass bangs, then we could have wavy hair classic Bloomy hair

Stellas classic bangs look like she has normal straight bangs with hella frayed edges in a vampire cut at best and I hate them. I refuse to believe that Stella has vampire cut bangs, I simply close my eyes when I see it

I am VERY biased to any hairstyle that gets rid of them, and also curtain bangs Stella supremacy

I also think Stella looks better without those two super long stands of hair hanging over her shoulders, I like the s5 ones a lot

Aside from that Stella's hair looks best when it's down, but because that's boring this is mostly a complication of bang styles I like on her with one example of Stella nomral hair

Also mixed kid Stella, her hair is naturally curly or has the ability to curl naturally. I am biased and I like to see her hair with some volume yess

The s4 Stella look is mostly there because it's just a beautiful way to put her hair up for like sleep and stuff where she'd want her hair out of the way and it's one the Stella hairstyles of all time

The beach look is here because it actually made me forget how much I hate her pointy bangs. Her hair is windswept 💕💕💕 beautiful, the bun is a cute touch as well

That's all. Stella loves her long hair and gets p fuckin upset whenever someone fucks with it and does like everything to maintain it. Stella literally would only cut her hair under threat of death, and she likes having it down. Her hair says down XD the only thing that would change is her bangs

When they get weird with Flora's bangs it's always a win. Like yes bitch let her bangs do as they please, mix them up yesssss. Also big yes to any hairstyle that draws attention to her bangs, like hair decorations, and while I'm not sold on that headband it does make her bangs stand out more so ig it can stay

Flora looks best when her hair is left to roam wild or tied up tight. It's either giving boho queen letting her hair be all flowy and gorgeous, or "I'm gardening and I'm not getting dirt in my hair" and both fit her amazingly

The Sirenix low ponytail is just so slay. It's so messy and flowy and free and it gives a casual nature lady energy. It's such a chill beautiful look that really should have been in a civilian form instead but like whatever

I'm usually against high ponytail Flora, but the flowers and pearls in her hair save that look and help it ascend. Gorgeous. We love it

The s4 and s6 buns are so cute. Gardening hair and date hair respectively

Flora's Believix hair is THEE Flora hair. I'm sorry but it is. Superior to Flora's Enchantix hair. The flowers fit her so much better than pearls and gems and I don't think Flora would get super fancy with her hair in the first place. This is just Flora

Flora also should have cut her hair in s4. It would be cute

It would be really fun if she cut and shaved her hair in different styles as hair evolution but I'd accept her dying her hair differently every season

Musa looks best with her hair up. Especially with her long hair because it makes it look like her hair is shorter while also giving her hair more options. I especially like her s5 hair of the bun with the hair down and the sleep hair loopys. While I wouldn't make the sleep hair loopies her civilian look it is a natural evolution of her pigtails into a new long hair style while still keeping the original style (tho it needs to lose the side strands, the shorter strands work better when her hair is visibility long and this makes them look short so axe em)

Hats as well, Musa looks good in hats. Musa only got to wear one hat in the original series, and she wore it over her pigtails because she's very silly, but more hats and a hat in her civilian design would absolutely be a win to me

Okay now stuff that only applies to her long hair:

The long low pigtails are slightly more tomboish than the long high pigtails but if you have her an undercut that would fix that

The s4 long hair looks like shit, that isn't Musa, yada yada yada, if your going to do long hair down Musa do it like S7. Would Musa ever wear any of that, especially the earrings? God no. Does it at least look like something an older Musa might wear? Replace the head band with headphones, and yeah maybe

WOW Musa got the memo. Also that hairstyle is like her s5 one except the bun doesn't lead into a pointy tail, instead it's a half up half down style. It's cute, but it's mostly there to show how headphones can replace a headband

There are a lot of examples of how to make long hair Musa look less bad and that's because there are no images of short hair Musa in anything but her pigtails and I'm cranky about it

Messy bangs, high ponytails, and fashion only hats

S6 is a crime against humanity but look at her hair godblessss. The s5 and s3 hats are cute and yes Aisha only wears hats for fashion unlike Tecna who wears them for a purpose, and Musa who wears them for both

Messy bangs just work with Aisha. Her whole thing is that she was overly stifled and expected to act in a very particular way and as soon she got away she refused to control her flyaways and bangs. She will not, fuck y'all, she got shit to do that isn't worrying about her hair

High ponytails also work like hell. High ponytails are just yess. They have a very "I got shit to do, and I need to do it yesterday." Vibes that fit Aisha's dedication and drive perfectly

Mixing the two gives this very amazing vibe. They tried to accomplish this in s4, but did not but they did manage to get it in s6 which is hilarious. It gives the vibes that she needs to do something but not as urgent, shes still having fun

I also love how her Royal hairstyles are the high pointytail too, it shows how the main thing she got from all those classes is how to be goal oriented. I love that for her, she threw away all the sexist nonsense and kept the work ethic, she's so awesome. In reverse it also shows how dedicated she is to her people, how keeping them safe and happy is her goal, love thattt

what is your job? working with kids part-time at an after school! we get to play games and go outside and do art. on thursdays I dance with them. it's a good time :)

if you could go back to school, would you? mmm. maybe! (but it wouldn't be with the intention of going into a that new field—I just like to learn and also enjoy school lol.) I was just talking the other day about how there's so many things I would've loved to study that I didn't go for or only discovered later. Like film! I want to know how to film things and have them look super professional for my personal fan projects.

can you parallel park? nope. never learned how and haven't had a chance to continue practicing driving bc... life. i'm still on my learners permit 🙃

do you like puzzles? like physical puzzle-piece puzzles? not really, I get a little antsy and don't have the patience for them! Unless it's a kids puzzle but then they're often too easy lol. BUT if we're talking mental puzzles, I love that. Like trying to code something and crack how to get a thing working... that's fun.

any phobias? i'm a bit afraid of heights. (not being high up in all situations, but specifically if there's a way to fall down. like sure I'll climb on top of things sometimes, but if it's too high or feels like there's an easy way to fall off then i get scared. sometimes kids try to get me to climb on the jungle gym equipment at work but this is simply not going to happen).

favorite childhood sport? horseback riding :)

do you talk to yourself? yes, but not out loud, just in my head. though a lot of the time it's actually fake conversations with other people or made up people. My brain makes up situations lol.

what movies do you adore? 'the lego batman movie', 'legally blonde'... when it comes to movies i'll watch over again it's usually the more feel-good type stuff

coffee or tea? tea! (I actively dislike the taste of coffee.) But also, I find tea very calming and it makes me happy! like, it's just so cozy!! especially if you have a little time for it, to make it a peaceful moment. boil the water, pick out a cup, sit with it all warm in your hands. rushed tea is not the thing.

first thing you wanted to be growing up? either being an actress or a teacher! :)

Your day had started off pretty crappy when you woke up doing your dog chewing on your couch and got a call from your latest client saying she was canceling today's session which meant no money for today or the rest of the week since you had no other appointments. You were a photographer that had just moved to austin where your friend had convinced you that the natural light was always good but it was a big fat lie, the only thing about austin was that it was hot as hell. You were looking through your camera roll trying to see which picture you should try to promote on your story so hopefully you could get some new clients, maybe you could get some cool clients usually you get first time parents wanting pictures of their baby or highschool kids wanting insane grad pics that either they cant pay for or have really bad attitudes that you can't deal and end up stopping the shot.

You get a call from your friend Amanda asking if you want to go to an art light show? Whatever that means, you said yes because you need to get out of the house and you can get some cool pics, you grab your camera and your keys and meet your friend at the art light show. You see Amanda outside the door waiting for you “wow you actually came, i'm surprised” “well you did make it sound dumb over the phone but i need some pictures so i can make rent next month so you get to look pretty and i get money, it's a win win.” you open the door for her and you so you can just get this over with. You two looked at some of the stuff they had displayed but then stopped at this little part of the building that had white lights hanging down from the ceiling “oooo stand right there this is the best” you had directed Amanda what position to stay in. “make sure that when you post these you tag me in them so i can get the compliments' ' amanda said while fixing her hair for the picture, you had gone to take the picture but you noticed the three men acting like idiots in the background of the frame. You couldn't help but laugh at the gestures they were making towards each other, but the one that really caught your eye was the shorter one with longer black hair “will you please stop drooling over at that dude and take my picture”. You didn't realize that Amanda was standing next to you also looking at your camara “I'm not drooling at him I'm just simply admiring him, he's very photogenic” you could tell that Amanda was seeing through your lie by the look of her face. You were trying to move on from the conversation about the beautiful stranger by pretending you were fixing your camera settings, but you look up to see Amanda walking towards the three. “Hi im so sorry to bother you but my friend over there with the dumb look on their face is a photographer and was wondering if you would mind modeling for them?” all three of the men share a look at eachother “really us?, why us?” said the bigger guy with an arm tattoo. “Well they said you guys had a good sense of style, especially you. She said that you had a photogenic face,” Amanda said, pointing at the guy you were staring at. You just kept freaking out about what amanda was saying to them but started to freak out more when they all started walking towards you.

“hey your friend said that you wanted some pictures of us for your work, and were totally fine with it as long as we get sent the photos too” “oh yeah of course thanks for saying yes”. You had dragged the boys and Amanda through the art displayed, taking their pictures, and also striking conversations with them about what they did for a living; it surprised you once you found out that they were youtubers and how popular they were. It was great for your business. “Thank you guys again for helping me so much, and i will tag you guys in the post and dm you the picture.” All the boys said thank you as they got into their car “see i told you it would be a good day, you got some pics and met some cute dudes'' amanda said shanking your arm slightly while you smiled “also i kept seeing that larry guy stare at you and laughed at all your joke” “really? Because I didn't talk to him at all, I tried but he just nodded his head or smiled whenever I spoke to him”. Amanda just shrugged at what you said but had a smile on her face the whole walk to her car, you got to your car and drove home to see what your dog chewed up now. You woke up the next morning deciding to lay in bed and upload the picture you took last night to instagram; after tagging everyone and adding the link to your website you put your phone down while you made breakfast without thinking about what was going to happen. After you made something to eat and feed your dog you look back at your phone to see your post having thousands of likes and comments about your pictures being out of this world, you even got messages from other youtubers and semi popular clothing brands asking you if you would like to photograph their models. You couldn't believe you got all this attention from those goofy guys, you stopped jumping up and down to message Larry to say thank you for the popularity and to also see if he would actually talk to you this time.

Ahh, sorry I didn't get back to you the other day! I went to my neices' TWD belt ceremony and didn't get home til like 9, then fell asleep on the couch. And yesterday I had a 14 hr workday, so that was a write off.

So.

Sailor Moon.

I adore it, so my first instinct is always to say yes when people ask me if they should watch it. I want to share it with the world. However, I can also get defensive over it so I do try to sound out if they're going to enjoy it or if it will just be frustrating for both of us.

Do you like magical girl anime? Specifically, it's shojo. I know you do enjoy things with the romance framwork around the main story, that's one of the cleverest parts of Library Wars, but magical girl is its own subset.

Are you good with the fact that 14 manga chapters of canon became 50 episodes of a TV show? Because yeah there's a fuckton of MotW and character building and strange little side quests. That happens when you adapt something into a longer format.

Do you enjoy media aimed at younger people? I've almost always been oddly split in that I generally prefer things made for people older or younger than my target audience. When I was a teenager I was usually reading from either the adult section or kids picture books. I was only ever in the teen section for the Elfquest comics. I don't know your actual age, but I'm nearly positive this is going to be geared young for you. The Japanese version is aimed at preteens, and the American version is quite obviously aimed at kindergarteners (Me. I was 5 when it aired in Canada)

Can you take media in the context of the time it was made in? Sailor Moon is actually decently progressive as far as childrens' shows from the 90's, but some of the choices they make and the way they interact with the world is a bit dated. Like Usagi often forgets to actually call for back-up after they get their communicators because... she's from 1987, technically. She has no familiarity with the idea of people being immediately contactable, so in high stress situations she tends to forget it's an option. Also the tech thing is a HUGE plot point in season 5.

If you say yes to these, I would say ABSOLUTELY give it a go! You might find it's not for you, and that's okay! Art doesn't speak to every soul in the same way. Either way, though, feel free to talk about it with me if you do give it a try! I'm always down for a Sailor Moon conversation!

Nah, it's okay. I get it. Everyone has their own lives and can't get to everything immediately. ^_^ 1) I do enjoy magical girl anime (at least the few I tried when I was a lot younger). If it has romance aspects that's even better. 2) That shouldn't bother me. :3 I'm not usually good with long series though. 3) I absolutely love shows aimed towards younger audiences. A lot of time I turn to them for comfort. I still watch shows made for like 7+ and I love them more than literally anything else. I usually stick to my age demographic or younger. 4) Oh sure. It doesn't bother me at all. My parents raised me in a way that I'm kind of used to that (if that makes sense) I've heard a lot about Sailor Moon since it's a very iconic anime, yet I've never actually watched anything about it myself. I like the style, I think it's super cute (<- style is a HUGE factor of if i'll watch a show or not). Usually if my mutual likes something I try to check it out. :3

Hi, and happy STS! (As usual, I am @writeblr-of-my-own, this is my main and apparently I can't switch them).

Everyone of us has recieved the influence of someone or something when we first started writing. That is either because we like someone's techniques and we imitate them to better our own, or we were unintentionally influenced by a piece of media or literature we consumed, even as kids. So, for today's question let's talk inspiration!

What is a piece of media or literature, an author, a concept that inspired you? Do you have a role model that you try to imitate a bit in your works? For example in the way they do descriptions, or in how they create settings!

FORGOT TO ANSWR IM SO SORRY

Well, when it comes to my Flatland writing, obviously I'm inspired by Flatland, but just in terms of idea.

My writing of flatfiction is inspired by Flat Dreams but not in a very orthodox way. Flat Dreams is good, yes. But not as a flatland fanfic. I very dislike seeing Flatland fanfics of the style of just shapes with limbs. Well, not dislike. They are wonderfuly written, but they aren't Flatland to me at all and I cannot experience them properly.

A Flatfic loses its essence of Flatland there. When an apostle is brought to 3d they recognize a 3d house as a 2d house. They have 3dimensionality and so the flatland is lost. It no longer makes sense that bumping into someone is so dangerous, the foundation of flatland in expecting perfect angle regularity resides in the fact that in the 2d world, you cant waste your time checking each angle of the person [you cant see the entire shape immediately], so assuming configuration by one angle brings forth the hate towards irregulars, an attempt to justify it beyond just "not perfect". The flavor of the arts of Sight Recognition, Feeling and Hearing and how the lower classes are practically blind, is lost.

I audibly sighed when I realized Flat Dreams was of this style. I liked the fic, but if you imagine "human" instead of "triangle", it is the same.

Flat Dreams inspired me, by the immense disappointment, to write in 2d. I still am not perfect, but i try. Yes, such a fic may not be the most interesting, 2d life is boring, plain.. well, more like.. PLANE. [this is a pun] but it is 2d.

I am also greatly inspired by xenofiction authors! i liked The Wild Road [my name Cy is from the book] and Watership Down and have many more xenofiction books to read. I am purely a xenofic writer. I find comfort in the nonhuman. I cannot bring myself to relate to or care for human or humanoid characters, i dont know why. I love the strangest xenofiction, like The Bees book that i have yet to find to read. Hence why I write the strangest xenofiction too, that of bidimensional shapes [The Arts of Being], insects [Insecta series], plants [They Whisper at Dawn], even of human body cells [yep. A story called Autophagia] though most are currently unfinish. My love of xenofiction literature specifically might have started before warrior cats, when i read of a childrens book called Alphabet Soup, where characters were letters with personalities based on their letter.

Human-book related, i did enjoy some human books. Childrens books. Two which are mexican and to translate their titles is waste of time. These were The Little Prince, Mamá es Alérgica and Una Noche para Bruno. These were what i can only describe as mundane fiction within my mind. Una noche para Bruno specifically. I love the details of the third one on just life. A childs view of the world. Actually, just realized what these 3 books have in common.. the way a child sees the world. Have i not been brought to a place near adjacent to xenofiction again?

anyways um 8 is "common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about" and 10 is "worst part of fanon" pretty similar really going for the haterisms here okok. hmmm i honestly don't even interact with the orv fandom that much like most of the orv posts that aren't just art that i see are mine and my few orvie mutuals' which i usually respect i don't see a lot of posts from outside of this orv echo chamber i've created for myself which i'm ok with tbh. but something i see a lot that i don't like is the depiction of kdj as a scammer type like the breed same as cale tcf and others? i haven't read regression instruction manual but like he's a common comparison and such. and it's true that they're all from the similar mold of like "isekai/fantasay coming to real life but i have an upper hand because i read the book it came from nyeheh" and in that specific aspect yeah kdj has his moments where he takes advantage of his knowledge but it seems like some people attribute him being a liar an unreliable narrator etc to that part of the story also and i don't totally agree with that. he's not an unreliable narrator because he's trying to be sneaky and smart the dude is depressed. he's been so depressed since he was like 13 and he's a grown ass man now it's totally changed his outlook and makes him unable to see the world and his interactions with others properly for what it is. he didn't lie to our faces about smiling when he was actually crying because he was trying to be smart and sneaky it was cause he's sad as fuck and can't even recognize it because he's lowkey wanted to kill himself since middle school. i do agree that cale is similar in that he downplays how insane he is almost dying all the time and getting hurt forever but not caring and driving all his friends up the wall with it without even realizing and like he's also depressed as fuck but when people group them together for being self sacrificing bastard scammers or whatever i just feel like it's different a lot of the time. we aren't seeing the same thing there.

i guess that's my soapbox for 8 umm for 10. the way yoo sangah gets pushed aside so often peeves me for sure. she's so everything where did you put her....? and the kids too the kids are so important to me and to kdj but they're never given justice i feel. honestly i think all of kimcom doesn't get enough love most of the time or maybe i've just been bad at finding content that actually does them well it just feels like there's so much joongdok yaoi and not enough friendship and mentorship and everything. jihye and joongdok are so everything but i never see the two of them together ever. heewon and hyunsung also. even if you're not the biggest fan of them romantically like i respect the lesbian heewon grind don't you care that they're the sword and shield.......? and of coures sys and yjh have a lot of interesting potential but no one ever does anything with it. and there's never enough lee gilyoung anywhere i love you gilyoung. yes that's my fanon complaint. too much yaoi focus... there's so much love everywhere it's a main theme but the story ain't a romance there's so much more out there. take my hand we can discover friendship together

All Seam sees is an absolute mountain of bodies and an state of utter decay all around him.. with suspiciously the last man standing being a very clearly mentally unstable skeleton.. would you assume he was innocent?

Add onto that all the stress Seam was under, how unstable he was as well. Seam couldn't see the situation any other way and he was not taking any chances.

Dr. Peter Andover x Reader || Drabble

So actually really liked this movie!! (Not like 2001 Maniacs, which I literally just watch cuz of Buckman, Boone and Harper) and I woke up today and had to write this! ^^ Also I LOVED Gage (A mean, sarcastic middle aged man?? I'm a little predictable haha XD) so I might have to write for him at some point ^^

Plot: As the clinic’s chef, making food for all the staff, live-in patients and visitors, it’s your job to keep them all full and healthy (Though you do slip and maybe give them a little too much comfort food, because the poor babes all need it). Its not easy, everyone has different dietary requirements, different tastes, and some don’t even want to eat they’re so scared…

But even harder then coordinating meals, though, would be taking care of poor exhausted, overworked Peter.

Warnings: Unadulterated fluff XD Can be seen as romantic or platonic ^^

It was late-late when the doctor finally rocked up to the kitchens- far past dinner time. Far past bedtime, in fact. But you knew he would be around at some point, so despite being tired, you had stuck around for him- you would rather make him something then have him crack open a pack of crackers for dinner. Besides, while you’re waiting, you can prepare breakfast for the next morning!

Peter sits down at one of the stools you usually sit at the peel potatoes, now, looking exhausted as ever, and you flick on the kettle immediately. He’s going to need a cuppa.  “Evening, Doc, what brings you to my office?” Your jibe succeeds in drawing a tired glare from him but your face is soft and warm, as you go into the pantry. “I’ll whip you up some mac and cheese, how’s that? You just sit there and rest up.”

“Thank you, Y/N.”

As soon as you set the bowl down in front of him, its like something clicks in his brain- and it’s not hunger. A disapproving frown slips across your face because you know this look on him- and you’re not having it. No, no sir. “Uh, sorry, I just realised something… I- I need to return to my research. Thank you for dinner, but- “

“No.” Shaking your head, you sit down a seat away from him and sternly offer the spoon to him. “Eat now, then finish your work. You didn’t even come for lunch today, so I know you haven’t eaten for hours- you’re not leaving this room until this whole bowl is empty, yes?”

He looks deeply offended at your blunt bossiness - you don’t know why, this isn’t a new thing, - and opens his mouth to argue, pointedly avoiding the spoon. “No. Excuse me, my work is very important and if I don’t return to it those kids could be scarred for their whole lives, Y/N.”

“I know that,” You say softly, carefully. Because he’s right, of course he is, but so are you. “And only you can do it- which means we need you to stay alive, and part of that is a healthy diet here.”

Peter’s eyes flicker to the bowl of cheese in front of him before giving you a dubious sort of look. Like, seriously? “Healthy, you say?”

With a dismissive shrug, you gesture towards him with the spoon again. “I put broccoli in it, you’re getting veggies. They’re just gonna taste like cheese, though- because I’m a master in the culinary arts, sir.” You wink. “That’s why you hired me.”

Finally he gives a sigh and an eyeroll, and takes the spoon. “Fine, but may I have a notepad and pen, so I can write down what I need to do??”

“Nope,” You shake your head, resting your arms on the bench. “You’re gonna make conversation with me. Its good for you to socialise, and I promise- I’m a sparkling conversationalist. I may not get all your mega-brain science-y stuff, but my head-nodding abilities are superb.” And, also, you are just determined to get him to settle for a while. No work talking, no work thinking, no work full stop. For an hour, at least! You would be happy with an hour- more, would be fantastic, but you’re working on realistic goal setting here.

… When Peter just groans and starts his dinner, you smile. Hurray! No argument!

Only after he’s had a few bites, you pat his arm quickly and settle yourself facing him; At attention. “So, tell me- “Spoon halfway to his face, he stops; Raising his brows at you. You flash a grin, back. “What’s your favourite colour?” At this he full-on deadpans, making you elicit a little laugh. “Come on, now, I’m not teasing you here- I don’t know it!” And it wouldn’t hurt him to think about shit that doesn’t matter, a little.

“Black.”

Oh, bullshit. “It is not- and that’s not a colour.” He rolls his eyes.

“Fine, pink.” A warm smile spreads across your face, at that, and you nod while you let him eat some more.

“Alright cool, pink.” Picking up your tea, you go to take a sip before stopping short and glancing at Peter over the mug. “Like- innards, and stuff?”

That startles him, in fact you think that if he were drinking something at that moment then he would have choked. “No, not- “Setting the arm with the spoon down on the bench, he sets you with a stern look. “Like a softer pink then that. Like… a powder pink, actually.” He shrugs, returning to his mac and cheese.

“Hm, that is a nice colour.” You think out loud.

“What’s yours?” Peter asks, and you’re pleasantly surprised by him- he’s engaging!! You’re succeeding!

“Mine? Oh I guess… (Colour you like).”

“That’s a nice one, too.”

For a couple of minutes after that you stay silent, allowing him to eat more before you get up and uncover the bowl you have filled with setting dough on the other side of the bench. It should be ready, now. There are also 4 large pans ready to go in the oven when they’re filled, and a clean space next to all that. Humming, you chuck the t-towel you had covering the dough off to another bench and smile- looks perfect!

“Oh, what’s that?” Peter speaks up, and when you look up at him you see that he’s genuinely interested, straightened up to try and deduct what it is, or what it will be, for himself. You flash a smile, showing the inside of the bowl.

“I’m making cinnamon rolls for tomorrow! Figured everyone deserved a treat- “

“You think we always deserve a ‘treat’,” He rolls his eyes once again at you, but he’s grinning now.

“Hey,” You reply, sternly even so, a firm finger up in between you both and a grin across your lips as well. “You do.”

“Ha.” He scoffs, shaking his head as he turns away from you again as you turn to the sink, yourself. Okay, his self-image is the next thing you have to work on, you decide. For now though you’ll continue to work on him resting.

After washing your hands for a good 30 seconds, an idea occurs to you. And, taking a peak over your shoulder at the contents of his bowl, and seeing that it’s just about empty- only morsels remaining, you decide to go ahead with it. “Hey- why don’t you help me, Doc?”

“Wh- what?” Clearly he was already thinking about work again, returning to the drill in his mind, but you’re not having that - it’s only been 20 minutes! - as he looks to you a little startled. “You want me to what?”

“Help me! Its not that hard- c’mon, roll up your sleeves, wash your hands, and stand here.” You point to the spot next to you by the wide bench, and stand there patiently- showing that you’ll wait.

Hesitantly, he looks slowly from his bowl to you. “Should I clean my bowl first?... “

“Don’t worry about that, I’ll take care of it later.”

“Okay… “

Surprisingly he does as he’s told without complaint this time around, before joining you at the bench. Humming, you reach up and flick a shock of white hair off his forehead. “Now usually I’d insist you put on a hairnet, but I think we can make an exception this once.”

Giving another rare grin - that’s 2 in the last hour, and you’re finding that your worn-out boss is actually quite handsome when he does that. Well, he was always handsome, you’re not blind, but considering that that he doesn’t do it often, he’s got a very nice smile, - he shakes his head. “Thank god.”

The joking tone in his voice causes what feels like a blip to occur in your heartbeat, and you give a little laugh as you turn to the task at hand. “Okay, so what you’re going to do is get yourself a good clump of dough… like this… “You show him the right amount, and hand it to him before collecting yourself a clump. “Now we’re gonna roll it out into a long strip- like this!”

After demonstrating the action with the rolling pin, you hand the utensil to him and go in search of another to use yourself while he copies your actions with the dough. When you return you find yourself realising how close the two of you are standing, after all you can feel his body heat, but shake your head at yourself. “Alright, done, what next? I suppose there’s a paste we have to use?... Ah.” He nods, seeing the bowl that you also retrieved from the fridge while you were grabbing another rolling pin.

“Ta~ Da~!” You sigh, peeling away the glad wrap to reveal the cinnamon paste.

“I see. Very good.”

“Of course.” Handing Peter a brush for himself and dipping your own into the cinnamon paste, you then paint your strip with a good amount of the stuff- nice and generous, so whoever gets this roll will be quite pleased in the morning at breakfast. He does the same thing, focusing a little unnecessarily on how neat it looks, but you know- whatever makes him happy. A little tidiness is not going to hurt- so, whatever! “Just like that! Then we roll them up so they look right, and set them in the pan…. There! All done. Only… 18 more of those.” You say, gesturing to the rest of the pan with one hand on your hip after you both finish. “For this pan.” You add also, gesturing then to the others.

Peter blows air out of his cheeks and widens his eyes dramatically at the job, before reaching to get another handful of dough. “Well then we better get on with it.”

It takes you both a little over half an hour to get them all done, all the while you chatter to him about whatever comes to mind that’s not work related - other pastries he might like, your family back home, movies you’ve watched recently and recommendations for him, books he reads just for pleasure, etc, - and he really gets into it! He even laughs, and it fills you with so much happiness you beam at him.

Then when all the cinnamon rolls and pasted an rolled up and set in the oven, he asks if theirs anything else he can help with and you shake your head, brushing flour off your apron. “Nope, its bed time for you.”

“… excuse you?” He asks you slowly, and you can’t help but wonder how long it will be until he realises that you’re always right?? Goodness gracious. “I’m a grown man, I can decide when it’s time for bed for myself I think- “

“No, you can’t.” You shake your head- the idea quite amusing to you. “But that’s why you have me- now, do I have to march you there myself?”

Giving a heavy sigh, he turns and heads towards the door. “No… you do not… “

“That’s a good doctor- oh.” You tease, unable to stop yourself quite in time. He stops himself though, hearing it, and looks around to see you biting your lips to try and keep from grinning. “… Sorry…”  

A flicker of a grin flits across his face then- not quite another smile, but something mischievous, something almost wicked, for sure. “You just wait until your next appointment my dear, then you’ll see what a ‘good doctor’ I can be.”

At this your jaw drops, a slight grin pulling at the corner of your mouth at the same time. “Sir!”

“Yes?”

“Are you teasing me??”

He gives a shrug, making those eyes round and innocent. “I’ve no clue what you’re referring to Y/N, I merely said that the next time you need me I’ll be sure to attend to your needs to the best of my professional ability. I would never tease… “

“Uhuh… “You shake your head fondly. “Go to bed, doc. You’re going loopy.”

“Yes, dear.”

~ The next morning Dr Andover is actually at breakfast with everyone else, rather then stopping by a little later for a pop tart or a piece of toast. Some people are surprised and some are pleased to see him there.

When you bring out breakfast with the finagled help of Bauer and Gage, you’re surprised too to see him there- and pleased. You flash him a grin, a wink and a thumbs up like good job sir, I see you there trying.

“Ooh, pink,” Sarah smiles, picking a strip of delicious cinnamon roll off of her plate and noting the powder pink coloured glaze on top to the Doctor beside her. “Wonder why Y/N coloured them? It’s not Valentine’s day, or anything.”

“Oh, uh,” Andover grins at the roll he probably made, glazed his favourite colour by Y/N- causing Sarah to just about choke. Was that a smile??? She’s happy he’s happy, but- what in the world!??? “I’m not sure. Bit of a random choice, I agree.” He says, deciding not to explain - he himself doesn’t even really know why you did this, not that he’s complaining about the lovely gesture, - as he starts his breakfast.

“Hm… “Sarah hums, left watching the doctor in dubiousness, a half-amused grin on her face. “Yeah… “

5. Art Attack

Look, I was a lonely kid. For much of my childhood it was just me and my brother... and this very keen British man who taught me how to turn scrap paper, paint, and foil into my own spaceship cockpit. Ideas from this show allowed me to decorate my room as a kid, got me through high school art class, and saved my arse several times when I was a kindergarten teacher in South Korea.

One of the best informational programmes ever made. They should bring it back.

4. Air Crash Investigation

I'm sorry. I know it's cheap. I know it's tacky. I know all that. But I love this show. I love learning about and solving mysteries that aren't murders (sorry Sherlock), and the terrible acting makes it so much better. I can't watch this show with people, because I always try to guess the cause of the crash before the end of the episode and yell it out... and I don't know anything about planes to I'm usually very wrong.

Example:

Me: "It's the bulkhead! Check the bulkhead, you fools!"

Voice over: "The investigators check the bulkhead, but find nothing."

Me: "Yes! Because it's clearly the wings, like I've been saying all along."

3. Justice League Animated Series

I got into this series really late. I'd just moved out of home for the first time to go to film school and was having a hard time making friends. I don't know how it happened, but I somehow ended up watching the entirety of the DC Animated Universe during that time, which is impressive, because internet was expensive and terrible where I was living, so I had to go to the library, download episodes, and walk the 45 minutes home carrying my massive old laptop. It was a feat, but it was worth it. This show did what the Avengers couldn't, made me love superheroes.

2. Yu-Gi-Oh!

When I was 12 I was the best Yugioh player in my school. Sure, it wasn't a big school, and not everyone was into the game, but it was still a big deal for me, especially as I was also the only girl who played. The game has since evolved way beyond my skill level, but at the time, I was a god among mortals. 12 year old mortals, but still. I got up early every morning to see the latest episode, and then I went to school ready to d-d-d-d-duel.

Xena: Warrior Princess

I'm sorry. This show is just so nostalgic for me. For a while, I grew up on a farm with no actual TV signal, but we did have old VHS recordings of Xena and I watched it religiously. Lucy Lawless is amazing and this show is forever the best thing to come out of the 90s (and I say that while also, myself, being a product of the 90s). It has:

DJ (they/he?) is nicknamed Faith, and with the og japanese name this nickname would be Chu(ji)

Timpanist (he/it) is nicknamed Val, jpnese version would be Oo(shiki) or just Midori bc that's a bit more presentable name

The Cellist (they/she/he). Uh. I don't have a set nickname for them I usually just call them The Cellist/ cellisake I think they'd be okay with being referred to as that too. I've also called them Algin even tho that's technically not who they are... I've seen Blade as a nickname for them but something like Jr or Kid in reference to the whole "First Child" thing could work. Idk I'm indecisive ig they have a lot of nicknames

The Cellist and Faith started the band and Val joined soon after. Perhaps it makes more sense for it to be the other way around but I feel like with the Cellist being stubborn and more out there with their ideas that they'd initially forgo a more traditional instrument until they realized something was missing.

Val and Faith live together. The Cellist lives alone, maybe nextdoor w/ a lil pulley system between the two houses. Houses made during the Salmon Run are not really meant to be long term so this was meant to be a temporary arrangement to streamline their work but as you can see it's been some time.

Faith finds this nice, they were pretty much homeless and just couch surfing pre omega 3 and ended up moving in w/ one of them in their permanent ocean residences and they decided for the Salmon Run to keep a similar idea

Faith likes a lot of urban, cool culture. Streetwear, graffiti, hip hop and break-dancing... etc etc. They're also very tech savvy. Preferred genres r edm/techno, rap +rnb and punk...

Val enjoys an active lifestyle. Into travel, camping, fishing and more outdoorsy things, working hard, eating well, taking part in festivities and trying to give back to the community when he's not too caught up in his own stuff. Likes traditional salmonid music a lot but also pretty big on grunge and nu-metal

The Cellist likes reading and interacting with art that is like. "good enough" for him. Most of it is confusing or dreary. Likes coffee in the morning and maybe a small glass of scotch on a lonely evening. And being right. As for genres he'll go for whatever he thinks is groundbreaking in specific songs mostly regardless of genre.. but I feel he'd like rock. Probably post punk and more experimental stuff? Maybe folk and some classical music... idk idk!!! If anything it's mostly stuff like Trout Mask Replica...

The Cellist does however claim to not like pop music. This is usually not a lie but. She does actually like some of the Squid Sister's songs maybe even some stuff from OTH or C-Side. She would rather die than admit this.

I do feel like if any of them had to choose a favorite band of the ones we know DJ would choose Dedf1sh or Sashimori maybe C side.. Val would go for bottom feeders and Cellist would say uhh ink theory may be.. it’s good jazz music

They have all physically fought on multiple occasions. There's been at least one near breakup too

The Cellist's dorsal/hair fin is greying, their coloration is also a bit warmer than other salmonids

Val is not completely blind it its injured eye but its vision is fucked. It's also sensitive to light and sensation which is a major reason for the eye patch

They all respect each other as musicians and people and deep down they all care but they really do argue a lot. They're not really people who blend well together at all. DJ rebels against all that is mainstream and all they don't like and even stuff they're more neutral on for the hell of it. They kindof think they're cool for being a jackass but theyve also just become very callous bc they didnt have a choice when they were younger... and they kind of feel like they're still on the defense. Esp since the other two are more experienced and older and tend to treat him like a kid sometimes esp the cellist...

Val means well but he often struggles to take others into account. He's very goal oriented, a one-way track sort of guy who often acts more than a little clueless or even selfish. Not as petty or stubborn as the Cellist but he's got a lot of inertia. That and he's just... kind of shit at socializing in ways that don't piss other people off. Says a lot of accidentally insensitive stuff too. Comes off pretty intense to some as well!! And the Cellist. Well. Stubborn, emotionally repressed, physically and verbally clumsy... they are also a very sensitive person with a lot of emotional empathy where they kind of sponge up whatever vibe they feel, but they don't quite have the ability to act on what they think would make things right!

So yeah they fight a lot between these clashing personalities that bring out the worst in each other and other creative differences. The stress of the job adds to it!

Faith has an older sister. Val has two older brothers and many younger siblings. The Cellist is an only child which is uncommon in salmonid society

Faith is a Goldie, at least partially so. Val is a cohock from a family of steelheads and Big Shots and is extra durable bc of this. The Cellist is a Maws or meant to be one... he either did not complete training or retired due to his clumsiness...

Val and the Cellist have both been in different bands before. Val was in a rock band that only lasted a summer when he was like 17-18 and then was part of a traditional salmonid music ensemble for a couple years before ω-3

As for the Cellist they’ve been through a couple different musical groups. They left most due to creative differences and not getting along with band mates.
