Had an idea for a fanfic writer AU. Alastor writes fucked up gore fics and maybe has a reputation for doxxing (idk how to translate the overlord murders into fandom drama terms). Vox writes ships between OCs that are transparently a self insert and a thinly veiled Alastor. That's as far as I got
stop this is hysterical. you make the mistake of sending alastor anon hate and he responds with nothing but your IP address and a pixelated photo of your bedroom window. vox has been lowkey trying to get alastor to doxx him for years but alastor just deletes all his provocative asks without reading them
#sorry this took me so long to answer it has been a MONTH. and even now im procrastinating send help#this is a really funny concept tho#radiostatic#alastor#vox#hazbin hotel#voxal#ask

Heyyyyyyy lovely how are you? Read any good fic lately?
Hello my dear! The answer to this is always of course, though I've been pinwheeling through different pairings and fandoms (though what else is new) because I haven't had a hyperfixation since Good Omens :(
I'll list a few from different recent fandoms. My bookmarks tend to be more mature or explicit ratings and longer fics because I love a good established dynamic
Mystrade (Mycroft Holmes x Greg Lestrade from BBC Sherlock)
I've been reading for these two since October now so there's definitely a few for them.
Paperback Writer by meansgirl
Rated E and totaling 82 265 words, this was an awesome fic where it's technically still canonverse only Greg is secretly an erotica author who just so happens to be Mycroft's favourite. So then of course Mycroft finds out.
Human Remains by Saziikins
This series lives in my head rent free and is so wonderful. It's canon compliant and a very slow burn of Mycroft and Greg getting together and then making a relationship work. Rated E, it's got 3 works in it and totals around 900k words, but the second work is a retelling of the first from Mycroft's POV instead of Greg's.
Pater Noster by manic_intent
Another rent free series, this one is Mystrade but set in the Good Omens universe where Mycroft is a high ranking demon and Greg a lower tier angel. So of course after being brought together a very human Sherlock, they fall in love. Eventually. I adored every bit of it, there's 3 works numbering at 26k words and it's so much fun.
Which brings me to some other recent goodies....
Ineffable Husbands (Crowley x Aziraphale from Good Omens)
Ah, my beloveds. I only listed three here but I have a ton of bookmarks saved for them that I am only too happy to share, should anyone need some recs
Not For All My Little Words by mia_ugly and soft_october
Rated E and about 8k words, this is set post season 2 and is Aziraphale and Crowley's reunion and apology.
you're not a religious person (but) by isozyme
Some snippets of Aziraphale and Crowley over the years. Historical fics for these two are some of my favorites and this fic takes us through some great moments to post season one. Super cute, rated M and nearly 20k words.
post-professional endeavors by darcylindbergh
A look at Aziraphale and Crowley figuring themselves out in retirement, as told from the POV of their poor realtor and other humans involved. I love outsider POV fics and this was top tier. Rated T and about 9k words, it was extremely cute.
Some honorable mentions:
What Spring Does with the Cherry Trees by riosnecktattoo
If you're in the NBC Good Girls fandom you'll probably already know this author, because everything they write is phenomenal, but this fic was lovely. A friends to lovers AU for Beth and Rio that still kept the original characterizations, I can't recommend it enough. Rated E, about 77k words.
Curse of the Green Hag by Moorishflower
A Xedgin fic for DND: Honour Among Thieves. It's a fuck or die curse fic with just enough plot for me to be invested. Edgin is great, Xenk is great, and the smut is great. Enough said. Rated E, 16k+ words.
The Veretian Flytrap by Just_Another_Day
A Dament fic for the Captive Prince fandom, this fic is a great twist on the canon story if Damen and Laurent were an Alpha/Omega pairing. Super in character and has all the greatness of the trilogy itself, I loved it. Rated E (obviously) and is 176k+ words.
Alright, I'll wrap it up here, but I hope there's something in here that interests you! If you want anything more specific (a certain fandom, pairing, rating, etc.) then just let me know and I will have another list for you asap <3
Anyone else with some good fic recs feel free to drop them in the replies or reblogs :)
#god I can't believe I didn't even touch fandoms like tolkien or merlin on here#maybe i should start doing monthly fic recs... like top five in a month or something#that way i won't feel like i neglected so many good ones#if anyone would be interested in that lmk and i can try#also if anyone has recs for ME then please feel free to send them#i am always reading something or other but maybe it will help get my creative juices going to read some other things#since i feel like ive been in a bit of a rut recently#also im so sorry this took so long to answer but. yall know me#skinnyscottishbloke#thanks for the ask! <3#fic recs#multifandom

Pretty Boy | s.r. x fem!reader
a/n: you know i had to do something for glasses reid iâd be crazy not to.
âoh, here comes your pretty boy. capital p and b.â derekâs smooth voice entered your shared office with jj. you didnât bother asking who, even coyly, he would just say something along the line of âyour other half, pretty girl.â
so you rolled your eyes while scanning over a case file, not bothering to direct attention to the man. âand why the need to visit my space?â a teasing reply, both knowing his visits to the double liaison office were once in a blue moon.
there was the sound of shuffling before derek responded, âcause i wanna see your reaction.â such a vague answer that it caused you to pick your head up with a quizzical look, âwhat are-â and you stopped when spencer poked his head through the cracked doorway.
âhey y/n, i brought youâŚâ you didnât hear the rest of his sentence. eyes too focused on spencerâs face and the new wardrobe attire perched along his nose.
your heart beat fast in your ears and you could feel your body warm in temperature. it was like you were sent back in time to high school and spencer was the insanely smart, pretty student ripped right from your fantasies. you hoped you werenât drooling at the sight.
ây/n? you alright?â spencerâs voice was much closer now and when you blinked he was directly in front of you with the back of his hand to your forehead and a frown on his face. derekâs chuckles filled the crowded space and you couldnât even manage a side eye.
âyou feel warm. you didnât happen to catch anything from the last case, did you?â full concern with round puppy eyes shining behind black frames. your heart was the picture of a popsicle melting on a hot summer day.
you took a swallow, ânot- not that i know of.â eyes honed onto a freckle placed to the left of spencerâs chin.
derek laughed again, âease up on her, pretty boy.â he moved closer and stood behind spencerâs left shoulder, a smug expression painted on his chiseled face.
âiâm just checking if sheâs physically well.â spencerâs voice got high from defending himself and his actions while glaring at derek.
derek then jerked his chin at your sheepish expression, âwell itâs declining each second youâre in her space.â joking at the expense of your crush, but spencer took it the wrong way and pulled his arm back to his side. âsorry, right boundaries. shouldâve asked first.â
you managed to bounce back when he started moving away, âno! no, itâs- derekâs just joking. i- i donât mind you touching me.â and it took two, two seconds, for your mind to process your wording.
âoh this is a great morning.â derek howled then decided heâs seen enough, leaving both of you hot and pink cheeked.
squeezing your eyes shut you wished for the floor to swallow you hole and drag you away from this situation. âiâm- iâm sorry⌠about that. bit- bit scattered brained right now.â trying to play everything off.
âyou- you sure youâre alright? iâm certain hotch will let you leave early.â spencerâs brows pinched in the middle turning his face into more of a pout. oh he has no idea the effect on you.
you smiled gentle at his worry, âiâm well, just been staring at potential cases too long, thatâs all.â fingering at the edge of the manilla folder in your lap.
âalso i like the new look,â circling a finger around your eyes to play charades with him than just mention the holy glasses. âthey suit you nicely.â friendly but said with a hint of flirty.
spencerâs smiled widened and his cheeks turned from bubblegum pink to a rosie hue, oh how you wish to just cover him in thousands of kisses. âthanks. i ran out of contacts for the month so iâm stuck with these until then.â making it sound like an inconvenience, but oh how you were gonna suffering for a month of those handsome frames.
you turned your head away before you were caught staring for too long and saw a baby pink bag sitting beside your picture frames. you reached out to grab it then pulled it apart to see a sweet morning treat awaiting for your teeth to sink in. âdid you bring this?â asking spencer since you then remember that he said something when arriving but you didnât hear what.
spencer straightened up and happily beamed, âyeah! i was walking past that pastry shop you like and thought youâd enjoy something for all your hard work.â you both knew that was a straight lie since that pastry shop is an extra ten minutes out of either of yours work routes.
but you didnât comment on it just looked spencer in the eye and said softly, âthank you, spence. youâre very sweet.â and with a sudden boldness you leaned forward to press a delicate kiss onto his right cheek.
pulling back you noticed spencerâs lips were slightly parted, he looked almost winded from the sudden action. you were gonna apologize if you over stepped but then jj entered her office with derek trailing behind.
âuh⌠hi.â she stopped two steps inside then saw the way you both fidgeted to appear normal. as if you were doing something you werenât supposed⌠âhi, welcome.â âeverything normal here.â you and spencer talked over each other.
âokay, not even gonna askâŚâ waving a folder about, âbut i found a case and hotch approved so into the conference room for debriefing.â jj gave both of you a final stare then walked around derek to flee the scene.
âcome on pretties, you can smooch later.â âderek!â

never ending night
bruce wayne x femwife!reader
word count: 1.7k | divider by @saradika | requests are open!
CW: pregnancy, pure fluff NOTES: hello hi iâm ailĂs and iâve been meaning to start a blog where i can post some one shots that iâve been thinking of as a way to motivate myself to finally write down my ideas so this is it. iâll be double posting my stuff on ao3 (which you can find in my bio) and will eventually make a masterlist as well as a navigation post with a list of fandoms/characters i write for. also, english isnât my first language.
It was close to three in the morning when Bruce finally joined you in bed after a long night of patrolling and fighting bottom of the barrel criminals all night. He showered in the bathroom on the first floor of the manor to avoid making too much noise and waking you up, but when he finally walked in your shared bedroom, you were already awake, sitting up against the headboard.
âDarling, what are you doing still up?â Bruce asked you as he reached his side of the bed.
The room was dark par for the moonlight filtering through the gap between the curtains, meaning your husband had yet to notice the state you were in.
âDick had a nightmare,â you answered, voice barely above a whisper due to how tired you were. âIt took me two hours to get him to fall back asleep and when I finally came back here, this little one started kickboxing me and keeping me awake for another hour,â you continued rubbing your round belly in hopes of soothing your baby to finally catch some sleep.
âIâm sorry I wasn't here to help,â Bruce apologised, planting a kiss on your temple as he held you close to his body.
âItâs alright, Gotham needs you,â you dismissed, not at all angry.
âStill, youâre six months pregnant. Youâre growing our child inside your body, you need all the rest you can get,â he softly argued. âI would've come home earlier but all the amateur criminals came out tonight.â
âBruce, itâs fine,â you brought your hand up to his cheek and he leaned his head into your touch. âYouâve already been cutting your patrols shorter since we found out about the baby. As long as you keep coming back home to us, alive, then Iâm not mad.â
Not knowing what to say â his gratefulness for having someone so accepting of his duty as Batman was almost overwhelming, even after all those years â Bruce kissed your palm while staring at you with the same look full of love that he has been sporting since the first time he met you six years ago.
âHowâd I get so lucky to fall in love with the most understanding and selfless person I know?â He asked while grabbing your hand on his cheek, wrapping his fingers around yours and squeezing them gently.
âNow thatâs a lie,â you rebutted, a loving smile on your lips, lowering your joined hands on the bed. âYouâre more selfless than I am. Youâre the most selfless man in the world.â
âLetâs not start this never ending argument again,â Bruce chuckled, now his turn to hold your face as he brought you in for a kiss.
You happily sighed against his lips, the feeling of home that overtook you every time you tasted them was a nice welcome in this interminable night. But the kiss was cut short as you felt your baby kick again and you let your head fall back as you groaned.
âSheâs still kicking?â Bruce asked you, he couldn't see the movements under your skin due to the darkness of the room and your hand on your belly.
âWe don't know it's a she,â you reminded him instead of answering. You had both decided to wait until the birth to know the gender.
âAnd Iâm telling you, I know it's a girl,â your husband repeated for what could be the hundredth time.
You also secretly hoped it was a girl, but Dick really wanted a little brother. Bruce and you were still in the process of warming him up to the idea of a little sister and it was slowly starting to work.
âAs long as she doesn't come in my room,â your eight year old son had said last week, with his arms crossed over his chest and a pout on his lips.
âI doubt sheâll be doing that for the first few years, chum,â Bruce reassured him, fighting off a slightly amused grin.
âAnd the baby will have its own room with its own toys,â you added.
âWill I still be able to play with the baby?â Dick asked after a moment, uncrossing his arms and a hopeful look filling up his blue eyes.
âOf course you will, bubs,â you said, your fingers threading through his black hair that fell over his forehead.
âBut only with her toys at first, some of yours are not suited for a baby,â Bruce pointed out, ever the overprotective father.
Bruce had lowered himself down under the blanket so he could be laying head levelled with your belly, his hand now replacing yours over the bump.
âHey trouble,â he whispered to your child and the baby kicked again, making him smile lovingly at the movement he felt under his hand. âYou shouldn't be awake this late at night, you know.â
âYou're one to talk,â you commented, tone almost reprimanding.
âShe doesn't know that,â Bruce looked up at you as he defended himself before his gaze fell back on your belly. âMommy is really tired,â he continued talking to your baby, his hand now rubbing soothingly over your round stomach, âand she needs her rest to do all the work so you can come out all healthy and beautiful. Well, you're definitely gonna be the most beautiful baby if you end up looking like your mother, but that's not the point.â
You smiled at the cheesy comment and your fingers found their place in Bruceâs hair, brushing through it and nails occasionally scratching his scalp.
âYour brother Dick can't wait for you to come around,â he carried on. âSaid he will teach you all sorts of acrobatic tricks once you know how to walk. And he asked Alfred if he could help paint the nursery when we finally decide on a colour.â
âAnd I keep telling you we should do soft green,â you argued.
âIâm not changing my mind from primrose pink,â he told you with a sly grin.
âThe room wonât be pink, even if itâs a girl. And thatâs final,â you firmly said. Your husband will not be winning this one argument, no sir.
Bruce sighed, rolling his eyes before focusing back on your belly. âI hope youâre not as stubborn as your mother,â he whispered to the baby, as if he was having a private conversation with them and that you werenât there. âDonât get me wrong, itâs one of the many reasons why I fell in love with her, but I wonât be able to say no to you even when I have to, so it would save me a lot of reprimanding from Mommy if youâre not as tenacious as her.â
You smiled to yourself as you continued listening to your husband talk to your unborn child as you threaded your fingers through his hair, enjoying the softness it had after a shower. Bruce usually gelled his hair to appear more professional when he was working in the day, and then it would get all mixed up with his sweat under his cowl when he was working as Batman. When he would come back to you after the day was over, you would refuse to touch his hair until he had showered, the texture of the gel and sweat too gross on your fingers for you to ignore.
As Bruce continued talking to your baby, his voice started lulling the two of you to sleep. The baby hadnât kicked in over almost ten minutes now, and the peace you had waited for so long to arrive made you aware of how heavy your eyelids were. You slowly lowered yourself down the bed, getting in a comfortable position with Bruceâs help where you could finally lay your head on your pillow and it didnât take long for sleep to catch up on you.
At the sound of your soft, barely audible snores, Bruce turned his head away from your bump to find you asleep with your free hand raised next to your head on your pillow, the other one still tangled in his hair.
He planted a soft kiss on the exposed skin of your belly, eyes closed as he took a moment to absorb the fact that a baby that was half you and half him would be joining your world in a little more than three months. Bruce wasn't known to cry, the only time you ever saw him cry was as you walked down the aisle at your wedding, but tonight, a lonesome tear rolled down his cheek and fell on your stomach, where your child was growing, because Bruce never believed he would ever get to experience again the amount of love he hadn't felt since he was eight years old.
As he observed you, sleeping soundly with his child coming to life inside you, after you comforted Dick back to sleep, Bruce, for a moment, felt overwhelmed by all the love in his life. When he became Batman, he crossed out the idea of ever having a family (other than Alfred), of settling down with someone he loved and who loved him back.
But somehow, the universe put you on his path, as a miracle or a guardian angel or simply as an anchor to life outside of Batman, he didn't know. You walked into his home, into his life, to remind him that he, Bruce Wayne, was also deserving of love, of family, of happiness. Then Dick came along, rather unexpectedly but still no less welcomed, and Bruce started entertaining the idea of having children with you. He definitely wasn't opposed to it, but it wasn't something he wanted to jump right into, especially with Dick having just entered your lives. You were both young, he in his early thirties and you in your late twenties, you could allow yourselves a couple of years just the three of you (four with Alfred) before expanding the family.
So it was rather shocking when two months after you and Bruce had officially adopted Dick that you found out you were pregnant. It both took you by surprise but after talking through it together, you couldn't be happier. And the two of you haven't stopped being happy about this new little addition ever since.
Bruce rose up from his position next to your belly, your limp hand fell from his head as he did so, and he laid on the bed next to you. He delicately kissed your forehead, then your nose before falling back on his pillow and whispered âI love youâ as he curled around your body, his hand resting on your belly as he fell asleep.

More Narinder crumbs, please -- you feed us so well!!
Specifically, do you have any headcanons regarding his attitude after being indoctrinated? Everyone here has their own little versions of him, and your post-battle comic peaked my interest :))
Was he chill or overwhelmed by his new life? Did he try to get revenge immediately, or has he accepted his fate? Did it take him long to find his place in the cult? How's the mortal needs (eating, sleeping, etc) been treating him? And what did the Lamb do during all this?
Lots of questions, I just think your stuff's really cool <3 thank you for the lovely masterpieces that you share with us!
Oh dear, I have a whole list about their relationship and how fucked up they are jdbdhd. But today - about the Narinder's indoctrination (TW the description might me unpleasant for some people):
So, I like to think, that Narinder was chained like literally, through his body. And like the rest of the bishops, he wouldn't be able to fully heal his injuries, because with his every move the wounds opened again, made him weaker and weaker through the centuries.
Narinder wasn't really indoctrinated but more like resurrected (<--the context) and the ritual didn't go like the Lamb planned. The bishops aren't fully healed after joining the cult and something similar happened to Narinder. His body was still (basically) destroyed, his arms were still wounded, the same way with chest and back but the internal organs were in the worst condition. First few days was like a nightmare for him - his new mortal body couldn't handle the pain and injuries. He didn't know where he is and what's going on. Lamb didn't know what they should feel about all of this, they were torn between hating Narinder with all their heart (because of all "give me the crown back" and taking their life) and still being pathologically devoted to him deeply in their soul. They were furious with him, but in the same time they didn't want to leave Nari's side.
Narinder had stomach pains after every meal for a very long time (he needed to drink a digest herbal tea), even after his wounds were healed, he didn't sleep well too. After some time, he got better, but was still dependent on Lamb and their care. He couldn't even think about revenge, he just accepted his new situation although he did not take it that well. And the Lamb wasn't helping at all - they were teasing him constantly, sometimes even just starting arguments with Narinder (but that's material for another post because it's directly about their relationship and there's a lot to unpack)
This ask is almost one month old""" it took me some time to answer this, I'm sorry đ and thank you for your ask, I'm so happy when someone wants to know more about my headcanons

First time - L. Heeseung
Pairing: heeseung & fem reader
Warnings: smut, unprotected sex, loss of virginity, blowjob, handjob, ear licking, cum eating, multiple orgasms, cursing, dirty talk.
Synopsis: wherein your mutual friend decides to approach you in the halls on a random school day, begging you to take his virginity because his friends wouldnât stop making fun of him for being a virgin at 22. Well, after youâre done with him, heâs going to be the furthest thing from a virgin.
WC: 4,437k
-
âY/n, please? I thought we were friends. Donât friends help each other out?â Walking down the school hall, heeseung follows you along like a puppy would, his master hounding you with the same old question heâs been asking you for at least a month.
You scoff and cut your eyes at him.
The audacity of him to try and make it seem like you were friends to what he wanted was laughable to you. You guys were not friends. You knew him through mutual friend groups and occasionally talked with him, but friends was definitely a reach. âFriends?â
âYes!â He answers so quickly, and itâs shameless how desperate he sounds to you right now.
âHmm okay for the sake of argument letâs say we are friends how many friends do you know that do what youâre asking me to do?â You humor him pushing open the exit door to your school with him still hot on your tail.
âAll of them!â He lied immediately, saying anything at this point just to get you to say yes.
âSo not only are you shameless, youâre also a liar,â you tsked. âAnd here I was actually thinking about doing it,â you say with a tone of disapproval.
âWhat? Wait, y/n, no, Iâm sorry, I lied. Itâs just Iâm desperate and saying anything to convince youâ he takes long strides to keep up with your fast pace. âNone of my friends do that but Iâm just sick of being the laughing stock of the groupâ lowering his head he clutches the straps on his backpack and kicks a pebble on the ground sighing loudly.
âHmm, so let me get this straight: you want me, barely even an acquaintance, let alone a friend, to take your virginity?â You ask just to make sure youâre getting this right.
He nodded his head, and if the silent confirmation wasnât enough, he gave you a verbal one, too. âY-youâre the only girl I know, and I trust you,â he mumbles, embarrassed to even admit out loud that he absolutely has no contact with women other than you.
He really has no reason to trust you, but he just does.
Now that you heard him out a little, you kinda felt bad for him, but it was still so out of left field for him to be asking you this. Although you werenât exactly opposed to having sex with him, you still didnât want him to regret anything. âSo you want me to be your first? Are you sure? Donât you want it to be special?â
âIâm sure as long as youâre patient with me it will be specialâ he turns to you youâre already looking at him with a small smile and he gets embarrassed quickly looking away and clearing his throat awkwardly as he pushes up the middle of his eyeglasses.
All you had to do was be patient with him. That in itself could be really challenging for you because, despite his shy demeanor, he was literally the hottest man youâve ever seen. That coupled with the fact that it had been a while since you had sex, and just the idea of doing it with him was turning you on right now.
The silence drew on while you were in your own head contemplating this, and at this point, he could only surmise your answer would be a no, so he took a preemptive strike and rejected himself. âIt's fine if you donât want to do it. As you can see, no one else wants to, so Iâm not surprised you donât either. Iâll just get out of your hai-â
âTake me to your place,â you said, looking straight ahead as the both of you walked side by side.
âW-what?â He stutters, nearly losing his balance.
Stopping in your tracks, he stops with you, and you turn to him, gripping the collar of his shirt and pulling him in as he nervously eyes your face up close. âTake. Me. To. Your. Place.â
He gulps nodding his head frantically. âItâs that wayâ he points in the direction and you loosen the grip on his shirt you gesture him to lead the way and every step he takes from then on is one step closer to him losing his innocence.
Heâs never been this nervous before.
-
When you both arrive to his house the parking lot is empty meaning his parents are luckily still at work and he eagerly lets you inside leading you upstairs to his bedroom straight away.
âMinimal, I like it,â you note. Once you enter his room, it is very spacious but simple and cozy at the same time.
âThank you,â he whispers, wiping his sweaty hands on his slacks as he shuts the door and locks it.
You took a seat on the corner of his bed, your eyes scanning the room while you waited for him to join you.
But he doesnât. Heâs stood still by his door. He hadnât moved a step since you entered his room.
âYou wanna fuck standing up?â You tease him for just standing there.
Your voice snaps him out of his nervous thoughts. âW-what I- no unless you want to but I-i donât really know howâ his face is a mixture of confusion and worry as he stands by his door feeling a bit unsure about all this or maybe he was just anxious itâs hard for him to tell right now cause heâs too focused on trying to stop himself from shaking like a leaf.
âIâm joking,â you giggle, and you pat the bed next to where youâre sitting so he can join you. âCome sit.â
âOkay,â he says with a small nod and sits next to you.
No wonder he asked you to be patient with him at this rate itâd be half hour before you even got him to take his shirt off but you didnât mind easing him into it. âBaby loosen upâ if anything his posture got stiffer and he wasnât even attempting to make eye contact with you anymore. âWould you feel more comfortable if I took my clothes off?â You offer.
Finally, he looks at you, eyes wide and pleading. âPlease?â

Jolene
James Potter x Reader One-shot ! warnings: childhood friends to lovers, jealousy, fluff, slight sirius x reader for the plot, raw dogging posting bc it has not been looked over by my beta reader whoops! word count: 5,311 masterlist notes: sorry i disappeared for like a week, i started classesâ anyway this was born out of me listening to Jolene by Dolly Parton on repeat and realizing it is describing lily enjoy!
Lily Evans was a gorgeous woman. Her emerald green eyes and the milky skin clad in freckles were incomparable. Lily Evans was like the sun, her flaming auburn hair and the mere fact that she was one of the brightest witches in the castle. You knew this quite well, the shine of her hair, the glow of her smile, the softness of her skin. James would never let you forget it. How no one could compete with her. How her beauty was beyond compare.
Yet you couldn't hate her, not how she seemed to know the answer to every question, not how she stood up from the bed neighboring yours looking as radiant as ever, every morning. No, Lily Evans was sweet as honey and the best dormmate you could ask for. You couldn't bring to dislike her even when the man you were sickly in love with raved about her.Â
James Potter was a beautiful man. His hazel eyes shined big and bright, the strong curves of his face, the curly black hair that bounced as he laughed, and his warm brown skin. James was the definition of sun-kissed. Your families had always been stuck together like glue, you spent your entire life attached at the hip, growing up next to him was a blessing and a curse. His never-ending joy at life, and the jokes that bounced off of his lips, were enough to turn anyone's day around. His smile was so bright you felt like you were staring at the sun itself. James was like the sun, you could never look at him directly, not for too long. As he grew girls threw themselves at his feet, he became a bit of an arrogant brat, but he always made it clear he only had eyes for one girl.
James Potter was in love with Lily Evansâ the most perfect woman in the world.
You were such a fool.Â
"Come off it," Lily laughed as she pushed James his body rocking to the side as he also giggled to himself. They had gotten closer the last couple of months, seemingly out of nowhere. You couldn't help but watch pathetically from the couch on the other side of the common room. You wondered what he was saying to her, his hand covering his mouth as he whispered in her ear. Her eyes shone with humor and joy, and so did his although a bit more mischievous, but that was just James. You couldn't help but clench your hands together, nails digging into your flesh.
"You should stop doing that dollface" Your eyes flickered back to Sirius, who leaned over from the back of the couch, his face awfully close to yours. You couldn't help but hold your breath. His nimble fingers took your hand, loosening your grip on it and massaging the half-moon marks on your hand. You went to turn away, Lily's laugh breaking the silence again and calling for your attention but Sirius turned your head towards him with a single finger, his eyes flickering back and forth between yours and something you couldn't see. "Just keep looking at me don't question it-" You could barely hear what he said, but his lips broke into a shit-eating grin, shiny teeth bared at you. And you couldn't help but laugh, slightly out of nervousness, but mostly because Sirius's antics were always ridiculous. Your laughter made his smile widen.Â
He placed a small kiss on your temple and said thanks doll, as he let go of your hand and disappeared again.Â
"He's ridiculous," Remus barely glanced from his parchment, his feather still grinding his essay away. The slight suspicion of what Sirius was up to crawled its way into Remusâs head as he watched the two of you interact, as he watched James's giggles stop from across the room, distracted.
âYouâre not wrong there,â you frowned as you turned back to balancing your book and the essay you had been working on, on your lap. âI wonder whatâs gotten into himâ
Remus just chuckled without looking up. You didnât hear Lilyâs or Jamesâs giggles again.
-
Sirius had started sitting next to you in every class, often replacing James, waving him off with a sit next to Moony, more often than not. This seemed to push James further into Lily's arms, as he sat next to her, she didn't seem to complain. You weren't loving it. Not that you disliked sitting with Sirius, he was more than competent, against all odds. But still.
"May I ask what you're playing at Black?" your words were low as your charms professor droned on and on about something you hadn't really been paying attention to.Â
"Whatever do you mean sweetheart?" He gave you his familiar toothy grin, eyes dancing with devilishness "Can I not sit next to my dear Y/N? One of the smartest, most beautiful witches our age?" you scrunched your nose, lips suppressing a smile at his antics. "Not to mention one of my best mates?"
"You know what I mean Sirius, you've been awfully touchy lately" His smile widened, and moved his face slightly closer to yours "Not to mention awfully close," this last part came out as a whisper. He really had been close, always a breath away, always pushing his face close to yours. Two nights ago he had smushed himself to read your book along with you, you had been practically cheek to cheek.Â
Sirius had always been touchy, he was always resting on someone, sprawled on Jamesâs bed, his legs across Peterâs on the couch, asleep on Remusâs shoulder. But this was a little out of character.
Sirius opened his mouth to speak but the large bell signaling you guys were done echoed through the castle. He broke into a grin again, and grabbed his stuff quickly, shoving papers and quills inside his bag unceremoniously.
âhurry up doll,â he muttered as moved to shove your stuff equally as clumsily into your bag and took a hold of your wrist, dragging you. You pushed by your friends, shooting a look of confusion toward Remus. He smiled at you with a wink, as he walked.Â
Sirius finally stopped and you ran into him.Â
"For Godric's sake, what is up with you?" You finally got him to let go of your wrist and he closed the door to the empty classroom he had shoved you in. "If this is you trying to seduce meâ it definitely isn't working I think we gotta send you to a workshop,"
He snorted as he shook his head, "If anyone is going to a workshop on seducing it's you doll," you crossed your arms and huffed "I'm trying to help you out here-"
"With what Sirius?"Â
"Making Prongs jealous duh" he looked at you like you were stupid, like it was the most obvious answer in the world. A small twinkle in his eye caught your eye, it was the type you saw when he was about to make something detonate. Maybe this time he wanted to explode your life.
"You're absolutely bonkers" You couldn't believe what he was saying, as if James would ever be jealous of anyone in respect to you. Â
"You fancy him no?" He twirled his wand around, his grey eyes analyzing your facial expressions. You tried your hardest to keep a poker face, trying and failing to not let him see. Sirius had always been a very observant man.
"It's a lost cause, Sirius," you laughed dryly as you thought of it, "she has me beat"
He frowned, "who?"
"Lily, obviously, are you stupid?" he pulled at a piece of your hair at the insult "You've lived with James since we were 11, he's been utterly smitten with her ever since he met her what do you mean who?"
"I think you're the stupid one, they're just friends" You shook your head, a hand going to massage the bridge of your nose as you thought about what he was saying. "yuh huh, Prongs told me so himself"
"And you believed him?" you scoffed "he says he's over her every four months Sirius I didn't peg you as gullible"Â
He pulled your hair again and you swatted his hand away. You thought about it, James has said the same thing before, how he's over her once and for all, I, James Potter will be over Lily Evans by the end of the week. It had never worked. Their whispers and their giggles, their closeness over the past couple of months were definitely not friendly. Maybe it was for her but for him? Not a chance.
"I really do think you have a chance with him," his tone was lower now, "I reckon he just needs the right push"
"Sirius even if she isn't into him, even if he didn't like Lily, the most perfect woman on the planet" he frowned "he would still never see me as anything more than what I already am to him," you stared straight into his eyes.
You had thought about it many times of course. You prayed and pleaded to the universe every year that Lily would never reciprocate James's feelings. The second you saw their newfound closeness you felt like dropping to your knees and begging her. Begging her to please Lily don't take him. Lily was a captivating woman, she could easily have her choice in men, and she did, but you felt like you could never love again. You knew it was a lost cause, you had heard her name muttered in his sleep, even when he was napping with his head on your lap. The first time it happened, you hadn't even noticed the tears on your cheeks, nor the ones welled up in your eyes. It had always been clear to you, how easily it would be for her to take him, he wasn't your man. She just had to say yes.
So you cried, time and time again, away from prying or worrying eyes. This was your secret to bear.Â
You looked at Sirius again, shaking your head. Sirius could feel droplets of regret settle in his stomach as he saw the tears well up in your eyes. He had never seen you cry.Â
âFat chance Blackâ
-
James Potter thought the world of you. He knew he could not live without the curve of your face, the way you smiled at him as if you knew something he didn't. He felt like you could see his soul. You always said he smiled that way too. He wondered if this overlapping trait was a byproduct of a childhood spent together. A childhood spent glued at the hip, one of him being your knight in shining armor when you played, a childhood of sticks and stones that he never let your knees touch. His knees were covered in scrapes and scars that would never fade, but something deep within him never allowed him to let the same happen to you. James Potter could not live without you. He couldn't help but watch how Sirius draped himself over you, and how he hurried to sit next to you. He couldn't help but notice the whispers and the giggles. He couldn't, for everything that was sacred, ignore the closeness. And the fact that you let Sirius press his cheek to yours and whisper merely a breath apart. That part had made his stomach turn.Â
It wasn't that the two of you weren't close. It was just that James had never seen you be close like that with anybody else. He had spent almost every day of his life by your side. Asleep with your cheeks pressed together, childish limbs all tangled up, you always woke up first and shoved him off the couch. He remembers when you used to hold his hand, his was always dirty with mud and grass, you never cared. You asked him to marry you when you were seven.
He promised you he would.
As you grew up, you continued with this closeness. You had slept in his bed more times than he could count, even at Hogwarts sometimes you'd climb into a corner of his bed. You'd always end up pressed against one another. You would still accidentally nap together on the couches at Potter Manor, or his head on your lap in the common room. And he could admit that Lily Evans had caught his attention, it had been an ongoing thin, and after certain revelations... Deep down he knew.Â
It had always been you.
James could only stare after you as you set down the hallway with the black-haired boy. A pat on the shoulder from Remus was enough to ground him again. James thought of Sirius's hand around yours.Â
"Where are they going-"
"Probably to snog in some empty classroom until they undoubtedly get caught," Peter spoke mindlessly as he struggled to untangle his sweater from his messenger bag. James stopped dead in his tracks. He hadn't thought about it. The possibility that the nearness between you and Sirius was something else, that you could be involved more intimately.
He thought of your lips, the soft plump lips that kissed his forehead. The ones that stretched into a smile every time you saw him, the ones that curled involuntarily when he said something stupid. The same ones that had kissed him in spin the bottle merely a year ago. He thought of those same lips kissing Sirius.Â
He might throw up.
 James stared at Peter wide-eyed
"What? I thought we all assumed they had something going on" he shrugged as he finally separated the two items. "They're all close and disgusting everywhereâ just like you and Lily-"
"There's nothing between me and Evans," Remus and Peter raised their eyebrows at the confession.Â
"You're always together so I just assumed" Peter's words might as well have been a mumble to James, as he continued to think of you and his best friend. How long had this been going on?Â
âWell thereâs nothingâ
-
You couldnât help but think about what Sirius had said. He convinced you to let him do his thing, you donât even have to do anything. But you couldnât help but run laps around the thought of James being jealous. He didnât seem upset with you having to kiss Remus during spin the bottle two months ago.
You thought back to the time you kissed. Your first, and most likely only, kiss with James Potter had been by the graces of an empty bottle of firewhiskey last year. You never failed to remember how he laughed after you kissed, a warm full-chested laugh, the kind he gets when heâs all riled up after outrunning Filch. The kind he gets when you set muggle fireworks in the forbidden forest and have to run away after lighting. You pushed him and he simply smiled widely, as if nothing had happened. It was a sharp contrast to the way he seemed to go all shy after Lily had to kiss him. His face seemed to go red and a small smile pulled at the corner of his lips.Â
Yes, not at all alike.
You wondered if Lily thought about that kiss as much as James probably did. You couldnât get the image out of your head, his lips on hers. The lips that pouted at you every time you told him no, the same lips that kissed the top of your head when he passed by behind you and you were too engrossed in your work or broke into a smile every time you saw him. The lips that in childhood had kissed your hand and called you princess. You thought of those lips, kissing Lily.Â
Probably right now, it was 10 pm and she wasnât in your dorm, her bed vacant next to yours.
âWhy do you look so worried, sweets?â Marlene couldnât help but notice the way you curled in your bed, the deep frown that had taken hold of your brows. She kneeled next to your bed and pushed the center of your eyebrows, âYouâre bound to get wrinkles Y/N stop thatâ
âI donât care Marls,â you unclenched your eyebrows nevertheless.
âWhatâs got you so down?â She leaned her head across her forearms on your bed, her short blonde hair looked windswept, her bottom lip jutting out into a pout. âis it Sirius?â
You moaned in frustration. Marlene Mckinnon was one of your closest friends. She was the first person you got close with at Hogwarts, her bed sat left to yours, she was your closest confidant.Â
âThereâs nothing between me and Sirius-â
âPotter seemed to disagree he wouldnât stop bombarding Sirius with questions during dinner,â you had decided to hide out in your room instead of going down for dinner, Marlene had set a muffin on your nightstand when she entered.
âWhat did Sirius say?â you bit your lip
âHe just told him it was none of his businessâ I thought Potter was going to burst a blood vessel right then and thereâ she laughed as she pushed her finger on your forehead again, smoothing out the frown lines.
âSirius thinks I have a chance with James,â her mouth did an o âhe wants to make him jealous but I think heâs full of rubbishâ Marlene had known for a very long time about your futile crush on the boy, it was hard to be as close to someone like Marlene, someone so in tune with peopleâs feelings without her finding out. She always shot you sorry looks when you'd see him with Lily. You pretended to ignore them.
âI canât believe Iâm saying this but Black finally had a good ideaâ
You groaned into your pillow, your hands pulling slightly at your hair. âWhat sort of friends are you guys?â Your words were muffled by your pillow and she laughed again but patted your hair,
âFriends that want you to be happy-â
âYea well this isnât the wayâ your voice got louder and higher pitched, you felt like you'd suffocate on the pillow âIâll be happy being her bridesmaid when they get married and have three kids and live in a cute little house, and I'll be godmother to their children and be happy that at least I didnât explode one of my closest friendships because the two of you have lost a couple of screws!â you tried your best to push some humor through your voice, you might've been grasping at straws.Â
âWhoâs getting married?â Lily shot you a playful look from the doorway, you hadnât heard her come in. You wanted to disappear into your sheets, you couldnât even look at her right now. She groaned as she dropped her pile of books onto her bed.âIs Sirius giving you trouble? He seems so taken with you-â
You groaned as you buried your face into the pillow again, wanting nothing more than for the ground to swallow you. Marlene found the whole thing more than hilarious, her whole body shook as she laughed and she wiped her eyes of the wetness that had formed at the corners.Â
âIâm going to kill him-â
âWhat? You guys have been so smitten lately I just thought-â Lilyâs face twisted in thought, nevertheless the edges of her lip curled upwards
âNothing is going on between me and anybody,â You got up swiftly, a bad mood settling in your stomach like a pile of rocks. âIâll just see you later-" You grabbed a sweater, that you were pretty sure was one of the boys, it would not help you hide in the darkness of the castle but hopefully it would provide some warmth. You bent down to take your shoes from beside the door and walked out without further comment.Â
âWas it me?âÂ
âI fear it mightâve been LilsâÂ
-Â
âHush-â
âDonât tell me to hush Moonyâ youâre stepping on my toesâ Sirius whined in a whisper
âProngs you need a bigger cloakâÂ
Sirius peered over Jamesâs shoulder as the speckled boy opened the map, the footsteps at the end of the hall seemed to get nearer
âohâ James felt a swirl of emotions in his chest,
âWho is it Prongs-â Peter barely managed to squeak out before James answered
âItâs just Y/Nâ the marauders huddled around the map now, watching the banner with your name circle the corner and float down the hall they were hiding in. âWhat dâyou reckon sheâs doing up-â
âShhhh sheâs getting close-â They could see you now, James's brown sweater covering you, one of your shoes untying as you padded down the hall. Tears were in free flow now, they could see even through the darkness, the splotches on your face, and the tracks of tears down the curve of your face. You wiped them furiously with the edge of the jumper.Â
Something inside James warmed, all he wanted to do was close the distance. He looked briefly at Sirius, whose eyebrows were furrowed in worry. Sirius always hated seeing people he cared about cry. James wondered if he had done something to you. If there truly was something between you and Sirius.
You had well passed them now, but the marauders could still hear your sniffles from down the hall.Â
âMerlin-"
"hold the bag Moons" Sirius pushed the small bag of dung bombs onto Remus's arms and slipped out from under the cloak. Sirius couldn't help but smirk as James protested, whispering furiously to get back here.
Sirius started running then, to catch up with you, his light jogs and tall legs allowing him to catch up with you quickly. Your heart shot up as he got closer and you could hear him near you, quickly dying down when you turned to see the dark-haired boy behind you. Sirius hoped James could hear from here.
"Whatcha up to doll?"Â
"Godric Sirius what is wrong with you-" you placed your hand on your chest, feeling like your heart might fall out of it at any moment. You decided not to question where he came from, you just hoped the rest of his group, and James were far away.
James couldn't help himself, he was desperate to know what the two of you were talking about. So he herded the other two down the hallway, enough of a distance that you wouldn't notice the shuffling, Sirius definitely did, but close enough that he could see you clearly. The soft, homely mess of your hair, the tired curve of your eyes. He knew you were nervous, the way you played with your fingers and rocked your body, your leg. He could hear your honeyed voice, your tone close enough to the one you'd mumble to him with when you were about to pass out in his bed.
"Many things actually, I fear it all boils down to my mother-"
"You're so utterly insufferable"
"Yet you love me,"
"Sadly, I guess I love you" James felt the knot tie in his throat at your words, he tried to recall when you had said those words to him. Sirius smiled at your words, his fingers pulling at a strand of your hair. "oi watch itâ"
He hoped James was ready to blow a fuse. Actually, he knew he was.
"Marlene agrees with you by the way," You softly swung your foot, hitting his own rather softly "I suspect you've both lost it"
"Nah, great minds think alike doll, you just gotta believe in me" he got closer now, pulling you into a hug. "Will you tell me why tears were falling down your pretty face?" He slightly rocked you, his cheek smushed against the top of your head. Sirius naturally would've comforted you regardless, he hated nothing more than seeing his friends cry. But the thought of James watching and stewing in his unexplored jealousy made him giggle in his head.Â
James's face was twisting in a way that was unfamiliar even to him. Bitter and negative feelings weren't exactly part of his repertoire. Remus tried his best to stifle a laugh.Â
"Lily just came in, while I was talking to Marls about the whole thing and I guess," you sighed loudly, looking up trying to make the newly formed tears that gathered in your eyes absorb back. James always thought you and Lily were pretty close, what could you possibly tell Marlene that you didn't feel well telling Lily? Why hadn't you told him? "I don't know Sirius I just lost it, she started talking about you and me and I lost it, I wanted to scream at her" James could feel his blood boil, Sirius had done something. He knew Sirius had. You buried your face in his chest again "My frustrations aren't her fault,"
"I know sweetheart, I'm sorry" Sirius continued patting your hair, he worried now, about what James could hear. He felt bad now, that he knew they were invading your privacy. "I feel guilty-"
"No Sirius it isn't your fault"
"I feel like I'm just opening up the wound, I don't want to give you false hope-" James felt like a teapot ready to explode with pressure.
He pulled the coat from over the three boys, revealing their presence in the hallway. You felt like you were going to drown in your shame.
"Sirius Black you're a bastard-" James closed the distance quickly, going straight for a tackle rather dramatically. Sirius pushed you away just in time. As the two boys wrestled on the floor, James continued to call him names, the idiot's and how dare you's flew unceremoniously. All Sirius could do was laugh
"I knew you'd do something to'er you good for nothing-" James was shaking him now, ignoring the fact that Sirius kept laughing, "I knew you'd make her cry-"
"James he didn't make me cry," your tears flowed down your cheeks again, you felt shame and embarrassment swim in your chest. You cried because you knew you had to come clean, Sirius wouldn't do it for you. There weren't many excuses he could come up with right now. You could feel yourself sweating cold, like the morning dew on leaves, embarrassment stuck to you.
You couldn't help but take a good hard look at him now. At James, who looked at you with his stupid hazel eyes the size of the sun, who clutched at his best friend's shirt collar. At his brother's, for you. How brashly he had swooped, sweet James who always came to your rescue, even when you didn't need it. When you were barely 7 and ran around his large yard, the rows of flowers and bushes his mother grew were gorgeous and they seemed the height of buildings, the thorns will cut you, I'll get you a flower Y/N. He had always been your knight, the shield of comfort where you hid from the rest of the world, the gentle solace to return to when life got too hard or people teased too intensely. Those people often woke up with apple-green hair thanks to him.Â
James was the noblest man you knew, with a heart twice his height.Â
You had fallen in love with him for this exact reason.
"It's you James" James felt like someone dropped him in the middle of the black lake. You shook your head, a sad smile carving your expression.Â
"I made you cry?" he sounded 7 again, innocent and afraid that you'd be hurt. His voice was soft and traveled faintly through the otherwise quiet hallway. Remus and Peter seemed to be holding their breath.
"I love you," James dropped his grip on Sirius now, who hit his back painfully against the stone floor with a groan. All he could manage was to look at you, his weight still resting between Sirius and his knee on the floor. "but I know I can't compete with Lily and that's alright, I reckon one day it'll pass."Â
You took his silence to heart, Remus couldn't help but shoot you a worried look, his brows furrowed the way they always did when he could tell your heart hurt like he could hear it clenching. You gave them one last smile, trying to wipe the sticky fingers of embarrassment from your being as you began to walk away, praying that nothing stood between you and the common room.
"You're an idiot Prongs-" Sirius pushed James off, and the brown-haired boy rolled to the floor, his back against the cool stone as he thought of you.Â
âShe loves me-â
âWe all heard her,âÂ
âShut up Moony-â
âWell she doesnât know does she-â The boys looked at Peter like he had grown a second head. âThat you love her.â
James groaned from the ground the skin of his cheeks feeling hot.
âI reckon you oughta go after herâ Peter said as he put the map in his back pocket, the three boys stood around to James looking at him from at ground.Â
James buried his face in his hands. You seemed so defeated, so sad that you loved him. How could that ever be a sad thing?Â
âIn a surprising turn of events Wormtailâs right, move it Prongs-â Sirius kicked James in the thigh, causing the boy on the floor to jump into action. He stumbled up, looking comically disheveled. He opened his mouth to speak to which Remus told him to Just go!
So James ran, he ran through the hallways so fast he thought heâd start levitating. It wasnât hard for him, to catch up, not with the length of his legs or the pace he had set, in fact, he found you fairly quickly, yelling your name down the hall. You yelped as he skirted to a stop right into your arms, colliding with you with little force.
âYouâre going to get us caught itâs after hours already-âÂ
âI donât care-â he pulled you closer to his chest, his arms completely around you now âI had to tell you, and truly thatâs just the thing I donât care whether itâs morning or the middle night or truly any other time of day hell it could be in the middle of Charms-â
âyouâre not making sense James-â
âOh, rightâ He took a deep breath, but the silence lingered, his hand now skirting around the hair that framed your face, almost touching but not quite. His face was so close to yours that you could see the flecks of a light brown in the underlayers of his irises. âI just meant to sayâ to tell you that, well I love you tooâ
âI thought you and Lily-â He got closer, if it was even possible, his lips ghosting over yours now, waiting for you. His hand remained steady at the edge of your jaw.Â
âEnough about Evans yea?â you closed the distance, his lips had felt like a magnet pulling you in.
Kissing James felt different than kissing any other boy. It even felt different than the first time you kissed. This was sweeter, this wasn't under the scrutinizing gaze of your friends or the excuse of an empty bottle. This was intimate and filled with want, his soft plump lips seemed to fit perfectly with yours. The grip of your waist tightened and brought you closer to him as his kiss turned hungrier, and your hands traveled from his chest to his unruly locks of hair.
You finally parted with a sigh, a happy one you felt like. Satisfied.
He pressed his forehead against you humming in content.Â
"I'm confused-"
"Lily and I are just friends now, she's not exactly into me, is she? Or men in general I reckon but regardless" He looked into your eyes, his hands now cupping your face and adoration pouring from his gaze. "It's always been you, I love you"
"I love you too, you twat-"
this took me to long to cook up @prongsprincessworld :D
hope u all like it!!

harrysmoustache that wasn't the best interview
ynsmymama about 'you're losing me': "every artist has their imagination that they write down and then release. sometimes it's good and sometimes it should be kept private. i'm not the one to size it up." THAT WAS FUCKING LOW
⤡ harrysmoustache as much as I love him that was petty af
⤡ hArrysbtch especially when almost all critics named this song one of the best LYRICALLY and MUSICALLY in the last few decades
ynshands "I don't know if you can be ready to move on from a longterm relationship. it's definitely harder than from something that lasts months or two years." THIS MOTHERF****R IS TALKING ABOUT NOT BEING THE ONE TO MOVE ON BUT HE DID WHILE STILL BEING IN A RELATIONSHIP??????
⤡ ynsmymama this is called audacity
⤡ harrysfan49 cheating was never confirmed, was it?
⤡ ynsmybestie yes, it was. right after harry's "announcement" yn posted a story with lyrics from 'illicit affairs'. i think that's enough of a confirmation.
ynsmybestie yeah, here he comes again not being able to fucking say her name. those 6 years meant nothing?
⤡ harrysfan92 maybe he doesn't want to share his private relationship online
⤡ ynsmybestie i don't understand that. you're loving a person for six years, claiming them the love of your life, but saying the name is hard? he never mentioned her in interviews (my closest friend, my partner, someone I love). he couldn even show up at her birthday party because he had a photoshoot. just to point out, the drivers showed up in London, even though they had a race in Imola the next day.
⤡ harrysfan87 you guys are toxic. just gonna blame him for the breakup? unbelievable.

Omg the dukedom sick reader was amazing. I'm so addicted I just love the thought that they are now realizing how far the relationship with the reader has gone. Will the reader recover? If they do, will the wound (is it on the leg?) be a constant reminder (if its something noticeable, like limp when they walk?) to the guys of what they did.
I really like the fact you put Kyle's perspective in there, how do you think the rest of the guys will react to the reader. Idk I just image a pale, malnourished person. Their face having dark circles around the eyes and just a somewhat sunken in face because of the fact they weren't eating.
How do you think the guys will try and make it up to the reader? I feel as if after that experience of being left in their room to rot, basically, they would want to be outside more, not in the manor. I see John having like a HUGE conservatory or greenhouse of plants that he used to visit just not anymore and just has his workers take care of all that with a courtyard.
I'm sorry for putting a lot
- đ¸
@nes-kopi Thanks to all of you!! I combined the answer to these all together because they are pretty much in the same wavelength, i hope no one mind đ linking still doesnât work otherwise i would be linking the masterlist ueueueueue dukedom masterlist au first part
The manor was eerily quiet, but not the kind of quiet that soothed. It was oppressive, heavy, pressing against you like a weight you canât shake. The warmth of the fire in your chambers, the softness of the freshly laundered sheets, the smell of fresh flowers arranged by the maids who now came by regularly- it all felt like a mockery. A sharp contrast to the months of cold, desolate silence that had left you here: numb, broken, and hollow.
The room was silent, save for the faint creak of wood under your weight as you shifted on the bed. The prosthetic, heavy and foreign, rested against the edge, and you stared at it with a detached sort of hatred. It wasnât the prosthetic itself; it was what it symbolized- what you had lost, what they had taken from you without even trying.
Your body ached constantly, even after so long spent under the doctorsâ care.
Your heart ached more.
The warmth of the room now- the fire, the clean sheets, the gentle glow of the afternoon sun streaming through the newly opened curtains- did nothing to thaw the frost that has made itself a home in your chest.
They were trying now. Oh, they were trying. Even if they couldnât bring themselves to look at you in the eye anymore, though you werenât surprised; you look⌠horrific. Youâve been avoiding the mirror on purpose for a good while now.
You arenât sure what is worse; the way they ignored you before or the way they hover now.
Every step you took was a struggle. The prosthetic leg strapped to your stump was heavy and awkward, the chafing unbearable at times. Its mere existence, its mere need, alone was enough to make you balk more often than not.
But you refused their help.
When Simon silently appeared at your side during your attempts to navigate the stairs, you waved him off. When Johnny offered his arm to steady you as you crossed the garden, you shook your head. When Kyle insisted on helping you carry things, you snapped at him to leave you be. You were trying to not rot away again, yet they were making it incredibly bothersome.
And John⌠John lingered the most, his piercing gaze trailing after you like a shadow. His voice was softer than youâd ever heard it, his every word laced with regret. A tone never, in your entire life, aimed at you.
You wondered if he was sincere. You wondered if it even mattered if he was.
âLet me help you, Duchess.â he said one morning, watching as you struggled to tighten the straps of your prosthetic. You have not called for any help from the maids or anyone even if they lingered, and you werenât about to ask help from him of all people.
KĂśnig wouldâve helped-
âI donât need your help.â you bit out sharply, your fingers trembling as they worked against the stubborn leather. You refuse to depend on him, especially for this. Why would you trust him, or any of them, after everything?
His jaw tightened, and he knelt before you, his large hands carefully prying yours away. âPlease,â he said, his voice cracking. For once, he wasnât a presence larger than life. âLet me. Just this once.â
Your instinct was to pull away, to snarl that it was too little, too late. But the exhaustion won. You sat back in the chair, your arms limp at your sides, and let him finish securing the straps. You wished you could feel anything except for the numbness and misery that has been clouding you for so long, but you couldnât.
His hands were gentle, his fingers brushing against your skin with a reverence that made your chest ache.
Why did it take this much for them to care?-
They tried, in their own ways, to make amends.
Johnny started bringing meals directly to you, ones that catered to your preferences. Heâd sit quietly at the edge of the room, cracking jokes or humming soft tunes, never leaving until youâd taken at least a few bites. The plates are always so well-decorated, the food so well cooked, not a single spot burnt or undercooked.
Kyle began organizing the staff, ensuring your chambers were kept warm and your belongings were arranged just how you liked them. He even replaced the stiff linens with softer ones and left books on your bedside table that he thought you might enjoy. You touched none of them.
Simon never said much, but his presence was almost constant. He became your silent sentinel, appearing whenever you struggled, watching over you from a distance. He didnât speak often, but his eyes held a kind of quiet guilt that spoke louder than words but you decided that just this once, youâll defean your ears.
And JohnâŚ
John was everywhere. He lingered outside your door at night, the faint creak of the floorboards betraying his pacing. He watched you with an intensity that made your skin crawl, not out of fear but because you couldnât reconcile this man with the one who had left you to rot. You had nothing to say to him. You barely had the strength to refuse his help attempts already.
The days blurred together, each one a series of numb moments punctuated by pain. The servants were more attentive now even without Kyle, but you couldnât bear their pitying looks. The maids still whispered, though the words had changed:
Poor thing. How awful.
You avoided them all.
The manor felt smaller somehow, its walls closing in no matter where you went. You found solace in the gardens- when the weather allowed and you had the strength to navigate the terrain. The cold didnât bother you anymore; it was the one constant, a reminder that you were still alive, still breathing. Unfortunately.
They watched from the windows sometimes, their gazes following as you limped across the grounds. You didnât acknowledge them.
Something in you broke when the doctor told you you had to stop those trips for now, for your own health. Like the miserable thing you are, he didnât even say it to you- but to John. Told him not to let you dilly dally around.
That very same night, after youâd spent hours pushing yourself to the brink- trying to walk farther, faster, to prove you could, even as the prosthetic left your stump raw and aching anew- you collapsed into bed, trembling with exhaustion.
You thought you were alone.
The tears came before you could stop them, hot and bitter as they slid down your cheeks. Pain radiated through your leg, your shoulders, your back. But worse was the weight in your chest- the overwhelming suffocation of it all.
You buried your face in your pillow, trying to muffle the sobs that wracked your body. You didnât hear the door creak open, didnât see John standing there, frozen in the doorway.
He stayed there, his fists clenched at his sides, listening to your muffled weeping. His chest ached with the knowledge that this was his doing; that every single tear, every shuddering breath, was because of him and the others.
When your cries finally quieted, exhaustion lulling you to a peace-less sleep, he stepped back, closing the door as silently as heâd opened it.
Several days later, he personally led you outside.
You didnât ask where you were going; you didnât have the energy. When the massive glass conservatory came into view, you stopped, your breath catching in your throat. Were those⌠your favorite flower as well?
âI had this built for you,â John said, his voice low, hesitant. âI thought⌠after everything, you might want a place of your own. Somewhere to breathe.â Somewhere you can stay and walk around in.
The conservatory was beautiful, filled with lush greenery, colorful flowers, and a gentle bubbling fountain at its center. The glass walls let in streams of sunlight, and the air inside was warm and fragrant. This mustâve been in the process for a while now.
You stepped inside, your prosthetic clinking softly against the stone floor, yet you didnât hear it. The beauty of the place was overwhelming, almost unbearably so.
âThis doesnât fix anything,â you said, your voice trembling. It didnât, truthfully. It didnât bring your leg back, it didnât wash away the dark cloud clinging to you. It didnât wash away the pain.
âI know,â John murmured, his gaze fixed on the ground. His shoulders were slumped. âBut itâs a start. You deserve something⌠beautiful. Better. The gardens brought you peace, and I can hope that this does the same.â
You turned to find Johnny, Simon, and Kyle standing behind him, their expressions a mixture of hope and guilt.
âWeâll keep trying,â Kyle added softly.
You stared at them, your chest tight, the weight of your pain and exhaustion threatening to crush you.
âI donât know if I can forgive you.â you whispered.
âWe donât expect you to,â Simonâs voice was quiet. âBut weâre not going anywhere. Weâll be here for you regardless.â
ââŚdonât expect this to change anything.â
Johnâs voice was so painfully soft, but you didnât notice. You were limping towards the flowers, gait uneven but determined. âI donât.â
That night, as you lay in bed staring at the ceiling, the memory of the conservatory lingered. It was a reminder of what could have beenâof what you might have had if they had tried sooner.
You still didnât trust them.
But part of you, the part that still remembered what hope felt like, wanted to.

i love your fourth of july comics every year but this years feels extremely optimistic about bidenâs abilities in the face of him letting roe get overturned and funding a gen*cide at worst or letting it happen at best by taking the bare minimum of regulatory action⌠i mean can he really be trusted at all anymore to do the right thing or act in line with the peopleâs demands? and how do we know the people behind project 2025 wonât just rig the election again to get in under false pretenses?
Hihi! Thank you for reading and enjoying my July 4th comics every year! I am in a non-US airport en route to a month-long trip in a place with sketchy internet, so sorry in advance for sloppiness in my response (and potentially going radio silent).
But:
I don't think he "let" Roe get overturned, since that was the Supreme Court's overwhelming conservative majority, which really started with Mitch McConnell refusing to approve Obama's appointee and forcing it into a 2016 election issue. The fact that Trump got to appoint 3 Supreme Court Justices is what got us here.
Re: Biden and the Israel/Hamas war ... on the one hand, there's definitely more that he could have done, but on the other hand, they are a whole other country over there. It's Hamas that initiated the Oct 7 attacks and took the hostages. It's Netanyahu and his right-wing government who decided to retaliate to such extreme extent. Biden can talk about how he would really like Netanyahu to stop fighting and step down, but at the end of the day that's not his call, any more than he can stop the Sudan fighting that is near-genocidal either.
So, to come to your question #1: "Can he really be trusted at all anymore to do the right thing or act in line with the peopleâs demands"?
For me, it's a resounding YES. Guyz, he has passed so much good domestic policies. My spouse works in green energy and the passing of the Inflation Reduction Act halved his anxiety and gave him legitimate hope. The tumblr post I linked to in my comic has links to many of the other great things that Biden has done. Tbh I voted for him in 2020 because "a moldy onion is still better than Trump", and I've been pleasantly surprised. Like how he tried to cancel student loans, the Supreme Court overturned it, and then he came back 6 months later with a different way to do it that didn't lead to a court challenge.
Is he perfect? Hell no. There's tons of stuff that I wish he did more about, or he went further on, but also he's just one guy heading one branch of government who is heading into an election year. (Just like FDR promising not joining WWII, while behind the scenes doing all the Lend-Lease Act stuff). And "the people" have lots of demands, many of them conflicting.
I'd also like to push at the unspoken part of your question... "Can he really be trusted to do the right thing..." compared to whom? Because right now the answer is "compared to Trump." And compared to Trump... I don't even trust Trump to respect the results of a legitimate election. Heck, he might just take his favorite state secrets, sell them to the highest bidder (or just show them off to someone for funzies), and then claim Presidential immunity. A decent Democrat who got stuff done vs someone who probably wants to pardon himself and all his friends and do Project 2025 stuff is not even on the same level. (Do I wish that there was a viable Democratic alternative to Biden? Sure! But who?) Heck, at this point -- imagine if it's Kamala Harris vs. Trump. Who would you vote for?
As for your question #2: "How do we know the people behind project 2025 wonât just rig the election again to get in under false pretenses?"
We don't. But also what can we do besides showing up to vote?
Actually, I need bullet points for this:
The 2022 midterm elections brought in fewer-than-expected election-deniers into crucial electoral offices at the state level, which means that hopefully most state electoral boards will continue to have integrity
Yes, voting is harder but at least we can still vote. So it's about getting out there and getting your vote counted. For some states, it involves waiting in 8 hour lines. For some states, it involves bringing 2 forms of ID. Document. Track. Make sure it's dropped off in a real ballot box and not a fake one. Don't believe messaging that the voting is happening on a different day or location, etc.
A 50.1% majority is easily challenged. A 55% majority, less so. Which means getting people out to vote.
The more people know about and think about the reality of a second Trump term (versus being disappointed by a Biden term), the more they will be motivated to vote against Trump.
Finally, let's be real here: I'm braced for a 2nd Trump term. That said:
I'm still going to go and vote for Biden, because the only way to prevent a 2nd Trump term is to vote.
A Trump term where either the House or Senate is controlled by the Democrats will be *very* different from a clean Republican sweep.
Even with a clean Republican sweep on the federal level, States have so much more power now, and voting the state level stuff will help shore up Democratic goals for the future. States get to draw voting districts however they want. States get to decide on abortion policies. If you live in a deep Red state, there still might be things to vote for that make it easier to live in now, and turn it purple a few elections down the line.
So at the end of the day, it's "Vote AND". Vote and keep living your best life. Vote and tell others about Project 2025. Vote and have hope. Even if Trump wins, at least you'll have voted against him. Vote and stay to build up a progressive wave for the next election.
#long ranty reply oops#fun fact: my congressional district had a tied vote during the primaries... so literally every vote counted#and then was recounted and one person pulled ahead by <25 votes i think

YOUR WOUNDS WRAPPED WITH MY LOVE
genre. fluff. tiny bit of angst. mafia au. warnings. descriptions of a stab wound. blood. knives and guns. some profanity. kissing. they kinda argue but very mildly. i researched a little on how to treat wounds but pls don't expect it to be too accurate đ. pairing. fiancĂŠ!jeno x reader. wc. 1.5k. request. no. a/n. so ever since the concept trailers this jeno has been the only thing on my mind I swear đ and nursing trope is one of my fav tropes ever so I joined the two together and was very delulu đ
read part 2 here !
âAgain?â You asked, less than happy at the sight of the tall man who stood against the doorframe, one hand clutching his side painfully. Lee Jeno always disappeared without warning on another mission only to return, usually injured, for you to patch him up. You had urged him to hire an actual medic for the job, but he refused, saying he didnât trust anyone but you to get that close to him. That was a few years back when the occasions for it were still rare. You were alarmed at how often he seemed to be going out, and returning with increasingly worse injuries.
Your knowledge and skill with patching up woundsâ dagger wounds, bruises and scrapes from physical altercations, hell, even gunshot woundsâ was a lot better than years ago. You were confident in your ability to get your fiancĂŠ back to health, but you werenât pleased with how often you had to. No matter how much you pleaded with him to let his body rest, he would more often than not, be out again just hours after you had tended to his bleeding body.
âIâm sorry.â He grumbled out. You would have been shocked by how hoarse his voice had become if this was the first time, but you were all too used to it. Your heart still clenched painfully seeing him in that state.
He could barely walk, blood dripping a little from where his hand pressed tightly to his left side, his face scrunched in pain as laboured irregular breaths left his mouth.Â
âCome here. Sit down. Tell me what happened.â You said quietly, already having gotten out the box of medical supplies. You were ready with the bottle of saline already, but it wasnât anywhere near the top of Jenoâs worries. From the tone of your voice, he could tell you were mad at him. Or maybe it was mostly disappointment? A touch of worry, perhaps.
He made his way towards you, carefully limping towards the bed until he could gently lower himself onto it with his weight supported by the bedframe. He sat still as you gently took off his shirt, eyes assessing the dark red spot that stained the side of his stomach and up his ribcage. You glanced up to his face, and he met your eyes for half a second with a slow breath out.
âKnife. Itâs not that deep, I stopped their hand before they could push it in very far.â He whispered, and then shut his eyes tightly when you dabbed a little at the wound with a soft wet cloth soaked in saline.
âAre you staying for long?â You asked, guarding your heart for what his answer would be. You loved Jenoâ you loved him more than anything, and you tried to be as selfless as you could regarding him and his job. You never put up a fuss about having to patch him up, and you only ever gently tried to persuade him to be more careful. But it was hard, really hard. You couldnât help but be hopeful that he might be able to stay for a bit longer with you. You hated how you only seemed to be seeing him to treat his wounds for the past month.
But it only reminded you of how he was by far the most selfless person you knew.Â
Countless threats had always been looking for Jenoâs weakness. And you happened to be the most vital one. You were unspeakably precious to him, and unfortunately, his rivals knew that. Of course, he did everything he could to protect you. You trusted him with your life. There was no one else who you would ever trust as much as him. And he had never lost your trust. You had never even had a scratch delivered to you. But the tradeoff of the protection that Jeno made sure you had was his own life being put at risk almost every day.
Every cut, stab, or bruise that littered his fair skin were marks of how determined he was to keep you safe. The least you could do was treat his body in return with your gentle hands, wiping away the blood, wrapping the wounds carefully, and stitching them up when needed.
Jeno answered your question with only a silent nod yes. Although relief filled your body that he wouldnât be out again immediately, you still focused on the more important task at hand. You could enjoy his company once he wasnât bleeding.
âAre they still after you?â You rummaged around in the box for the antibiotic ointment, dabbing a bit on your finger before leaning closer to apply it. âThisâll sting.â You muttered as a warning before dabbing the wound as carefully as you could. Jeno tensed up, his fingers bunching up the sheet of the bed as he did his best to stay still.
âTalk to me. Itâll help distract you.â You told him, pausing your application of the antibiotics to rest a hand on his shoulder, providing a small bit of comfort.
âTheyâre⌠Theyâre after you, not me. You know that.â He whispered out as you continued to treat the wound. âThey canât take me by themselvesâ theyâd be fucking stupid to try. I made sure that they wonât bother us for at least a month. Iâll have to talk to Renjun and Donghyuck about our next course of action.â You hummed in understanding, grabbing the roll of gauze next.Â
âYou need to rest your body, Jeno.â You said quietly. You could tell he was about to protest, so you interrupted quickly, âDoctorâs orders. Donât pull anymore dumb shit.â
âItâs not dumb shit. Itâs to protect you.â He argued back, clenching his jaw.
You sighed, starting to wrap the white cloth around his waist, âI know. But you said yourself that you have a month. At least for a week of that month, you need to rest and recover.âÂ
Your fiancĂŠ seemed unsettled at the thought of a whole week of rest; a week of letting his guard down. It was almost unheard of for him. He knew from experience that as soon as he let himself relax, something unexpected would happen. But maybe you were right. Maybe a week of rest is what he needed.
You secured the wrap tightly, and mumbled out how you were all done. Jeno just stared at you while you cleaned up, soaking up the face he hadnât gotten a chance to study for the past month. He felt incredibly guilty for how often he had been gone, and even more so for how often he had let you see him like this. He knew you hated it, but you never complained. He didnât deserve you.
âI love you.â He spoke suddenly, interrupting the cold silence of the room. You shut the metal drawer slowly, back still turned to him as you let a small smile grow on your face. You hadnât heard those words from him in a while. You turned back to sit down next to him again, your eyes staring into his.
âWonât you say it back?â He whispered, reaching for your hand; your left hand, the one that adorned that diamond ring he had given you months prior. You let him pull you closer as his right hand enclosed over your left. His fingers felt a bit rough, but they were warm and comfortable. With his left hand on the back of your neck, he gently guided you forward until his lips closed over yours.
You could just barely taste the metallicness of blood from the slight cut to his bottom lip. But you didnât focus on it, too absorbed in the gentleness of his kiss and how perfectly his lips felt against yours even after years had passed. He pulled away, resting his forehead against yours, his eyes still closed as he caught his breath.Â
You pecked his lips again, âI love you too. Always.â
He visibly relaxed at your words and dropped his head to your shoulder. You sighed, threading your fingers through the hair at the bottom of his neck, holding him closely. He shuddered quietly, and you frowned.
âCold?â Your hand ran up and down his back slowly, feeling goosebumps rise from the chill. You traced one of the many scars that marked him, stopping at the dip of his scapula and muscle. You reached behind your back, feeling around along the mattress for a blanket. You caught hold of it and gently draped it around Jeno.Â
You smiled fondly at the way he nestled his head a little closer to the crook of your neck. From his breath, you figured he was already almost asleep. You didnât want to disturb his sleep, but you knew the position would quickly get uncomfortable, so you shifted his head down to your chest and laid back until you hit the mattress. He didnât protest at all, but shifted into a comfortable spot in his half-asleep state. With his head on your chest, his arm around your waist, and his legs tangled with yours, you found the new position to be much more promising for getting good sleep.
You pressed a kiss to his forehead and made sure the blanket covered his body before you closed your eyes as well.

Wanda walks in, wearing her school's cheerleading uniform, along with her friends Natasha, Maria and Carol. Every student in the hallway stares at them as they pass along, books falling from grasp, whistles from all corners and sound of clapping from the basketball team.
You on the other hand is busy with your camera, a vintage Olympus Pen EE-3. You are to meet Pietro in the school's darkroom to have the pictures you have taken earlier that morning developed. You are a senior transferee from a neighboring school and have only started three months ago, yet you have no problem finding friends like Pietro and Yelena.
Unaware of the popular girls heading your way, you accidentally bump into Wanda as they begin to turn around the corner.
"Watch where you're going!" Wanda yells when her uniform is ruined by the cup of coffee she is carrying.
"Shit, sorry, Wands," you apologize. You take tissues from your bag as you attempt to wipe the stain off her uniform.
"Oh, it's you, Y/n," Wanda says. Her demeanor has softened when she sees your pretty face, smiling from ear to ear. "It's okay, I brought a spare uniform in my locker. Why don't you buy me a cup of coffee instead as payback? Later at 4pm after cheer practice?"
You nod, breathless. "Yeah, sure, Wands. I'll see you later then."
Wanda smiles before leaning in to kiss your cheek, making you blush and frozen on the spot.
The girls then walk away, Natasha laughing with others. "Gosh, why is she so oblivious?"
Wanda sighs, wiping her uniform with the tissue you gave. "I don't know. I don't know if she even likes me."
"Come on, Wanda," Carol interrupts. "You're everybody's type."
"Not hers," she complains as as she arrives at her locker and takes the extra uniform she brought with her to school.
Wanda thinks it was love at first sight when she saw you in her house months ago, playing video games with her brother Pietro. You are in the same class as him. Wanda has heard about a new student starting that day and she has been so ecstatic to meet you and endorse her candidacy as the class president. She has no idea that you will take her breath away when meeting you.
Wanda is used to have a number of suitors, both boys and girls, but no one has caught her attention yet. Wanda thought being a cheerleader would help her romantically, but somehow she was never interested in anyone after a single date. She will probably die a virgin.
But when she hears you laugh, it is the most beautiful thing Wanda has ever heard in her life. And it has become her mission to get to know you and be hers.
The only downside to it is you never seem interested in her. In fact, you are the only one who hasn't asked her out. She tried to ask Pietro if you were dating someone and if you liked girls, but he was also unaware of the answers.
Unbeknownst to Wanda though, your cheeks never return back to normal as you head to the darkroom to find Pietro. You have been crushing on his sister for too long now, but you know you have no chance.
You're barely a nobody. While Wanda is part of the popular girls, you are just the school's newly assigned photographer.
You fell in love with Wanda when you took a picture of her in one of their cheerdancing practices, as ordered by the principal for the school newspaper.
You are basically a nerd, standing on the very last level of the food chain. She won't see you that way.
Wanda nods then turns back to her locker. She smiles as she brushes the selfie of you two together taped in her locker before closing.
But Wanda has seen you in every way.
"Come on, Wanda," Natasha calls, bringing Wanda back to the present. "We're going to be late for cheer practice."
Author's note: This will be a part of a series of short drabbles about Cheerleader Wanda, because I want to read more about Cheerleader Wanda but I don't have enough words to turn it into a fanfic. đâ
"Girls! Wait for me!" Wanda shouts as she runs towards her friends.

baby steps. l Joel Miller
Summary:Â you were his very quiet companion on patrols
Warnings:Â angst, a little bit of swearing, mentioning pregnancy, mentioning loss of a child, mentioning abortion, mentioning suicidal thoughts, generally - a lot of unpleasant things, Reader is 30s or sth, I guess
A/N: I've had this idea in my head for a long time. There are some not so nice things (read the Warnings!) but I hope the whole story won't be so awful. your feedback is very important to me and I thank you for all the reblogs, comments and likes. đ¤ sorry for all the mistakes
and i would like to thank you for the few kind words i have received recently. it scared me but was very nice. thank you!
The first time he met you was at Tipsy Bison when Tommy told him you would be his new partner on patrols. Footsteps were barely audible, and then a chair on the other side of the table moved and you sat down.Â
Your eyes stopped on Joel's face for a moment, you nodded in greeting. The name quietly fell from your lips, and then you focused on the map that Tommy had spread out on the table.
Joel wasn't sure if you understood what his brother was saying to you. You were silent, sometimes nodding your head, nothing more.
"Is she even good for this?" Joel finally muttered as you said goodbye and left.
"What do you mean?" Tommy folded the map and put it in his jacket pocket.
Joel raised his eyebrows "She seems a little... I don't know. Distant?"
A quiet laugh escaped Tommy's lips "Really? And who's talking?" he took a few sips of coffee "Joel, you wouldn't patrol together if I wasn't sure she was good. She may not be the life of the party, but she's great at what she does."
Joel had the impression that he had seen you a few times in Jackson, but you were one of those people who kept their distance from others. So he looked like that to others too?
It was only the first patrol with you that made him change his mind about you, but he wasn't sure yet if this change was for the better.Â
You were definitely not one of those people who needed to talk. Small talk wasn't for you, but you listened very carefully.Â
The area around Jackson was no stranger to you, just like handling a gun. So Joel got used to you, and over time he even managed to get some information out of you.
You had been in Jackson for almost five years, you lived alone in a small apartment. You were alone. "That's the best way." No family or close friends, except for Maria. You were patrolling and searching for supplies. He was also sure he saw you in the library, but he never asked about it.
After a few months, Joel could clearly tell that you were the right person for the job. He even managed to make you laugh a few times or talk a little longer. You never asked him about the past, and when he asked you about it, you answered "We're at an age where everyone has some background, right? But not everything is suitable for talking about it."
"Your girlfriend seems nice." Ellie stated one day, and seeing his confused face added "I talked to her today. She said that this crap didn't let her finish high school, so now she's catching up on school readings. If I were her, I wouldn't bother. School sucks."
The warm coffee warmed his tired body, but after a moment he spoke up "You talked to her? When? And... She's not my girlfriend."
Ellie shrugged "We talk a lot. And you don't? You spend a lot of time together, I thought that..."
"You were wrong." Joel mumbled "Did she say anything else?"
The girl looked at him carefully. "You really don't know her very well, do you?"
He wasn't sure if he knew you at all. Did he have the right to demand that from you? You did your job thoroughly, he could rely on you, and despite everything you were still standing somewhere in the shadows, hiding from everyone.
"Is everything okay with you?"
Your voice tore him out of his reverie for a moment. You were walking through a quiet area, the fading grass crunching under your feet, and the cold wind slowly became more and more severe.
"Yeah, everything's okay." he replied, glancing at you over his shoulder "I was lost in thought."
"I saw. Good thoughts?"
Joel cleared his throat and stopped, and a moment later you stood in front of him, looking at him uncertainly.Â
You really liked him. Miller might seem like a grump, but his personality didn't bother you at all. Women in Jackson also said he was handsome. You had a lot of time to watch him outside the city, you had to admit they were right too. But that wasn't what mattered, was it? You felt safe with him and you trusted him, that was important.
"Doesn't Ellie tire you out?" he asked finally.
"What?" you burst out laughing "Come on. I like her. She asks a lot of questions, but she's a cool girl. I remember when I was her age..."
You stopped as if the thought slowed down your thinking the moment it appeared in your head. Joel saw your eyes wandering around the area with an unseeing gaze.
"Were you her age when this started?" he asked, but you shook your head slightly "Older?"
"Not much." Your voice was quiet but calm "I was a senior in high school. It seems so stupid now... I had a crush on this one guy, fuck, I don't know why I thought of him now."
"It was important back then." Joel mumbled, absorbing your every word. "And your family?"
"They died. A long time ago." The answer was quick, but emotionless. "Why do you ask?"
Joel shrugged. "I don't know. Just like that. Maybe I'd like to get to know you better."
You nodded, analyzing his words for a moment. "You're weird sometimes, Miller." You finally stated. "Conversations like this don't lead anywhere. They only reopen old wounds."
You adjusted your rifle strap and moved forward.
Fall had come for good, and you were slowly starting to withdraw even more. He could see it. Patrols were almost completely silent, he rarely saw you among people or at evening community meetings.Â
Even Ellie convinced him that something was going on, because when he asked her she said that she hadn't talked to you in a while.
"It's that time of year." Maria said when he asked her about you too, he was helping her fix the heating in her house. "You should get used to it, Joel. But... I didn't know you were so interested in her."
"It's not like that." he mumbled, but he felt a strange warmth creep up the back of his neck. "She's my partner on patrol. I want to know that she's okay."
"I get it." Maria nodded and sat down on the couch. "Have you talked to her?"
"I've tried, but you know perfectly well that it's not easy. You're her friend." the woman smiled gently. "Is there something she's not telling me?"
"A lot of things, Joel. Just like you, she's not very open to confiding. And this time of year..." she looked out the window where the wind was playing with the fallen leaves. "You should talk to her yourself, if you care about her. But you can also forget about it, be like everyone else, pass her on the street and just let her be. It shouldn't be that hard for you, right?"
And that was something he couldn't get out of his head.
When he saw that guy instead of you the next morning, a strange shiver ran down his spine. "She's sick." Mark said, pushing leather gloves onto his hands. "I'll replace her."
Joel nodded and they set off on patrol. However, his thoughts kept returning to you, he analyzed your last meeting, the last words you exchanged. You were even more subdued. He had the impression that he was forcing the next words out of you, and you just wanted to leave, to disappear.
"She's weird, but pretty." Mark replied when they took a break for hot coffee and a sandwich. "A few guys hit on her, but nothing came of it. Actually, I was hoping that you and her, you know..." he winked at Joel. "But maybe she's that type of person."
"What type?" Joel asked, chewing a bite of his sandwich.
"In times like these, people need each other. They want to at least pretend that things are normal." Mark explained, reaching for the thermos of coffee "And others simply adapt to it. They don't want to have anyone close to them, because it's risky, you know. I guess she's like that. A lone wolf."
But Joel wasn't entirely sure, because he knew you from a slightly different side, or at least that's what he thought. When he showed up at your door that evening, only silence greeted him. And it was the same for the next few days.
"Yeah, she's still in Jackson." Maria was sure of her words "I visited her yesterday, but I don't think..."
That was enough for him. That strange fear was creeping into Joel's heart again. He didn't know why. He was afraid, and all his thoughts kept running to you. It was as if a strange force was pulling him towards you.
"Hey! It's me. Open up." he knocked on your door, but it didn't help "I know you're there. I want to talk. You can't keep hiding."
No answer.
"I can easily break down this door." he declared "I'll make a mess and you'll just be embarrassed. I can do this, you know that. So... On three?" he cleared his throat as if he was preparing to actually do it "One!" Nothing. "Two!" he thought he heard quiet footsteps on the other side. He was about to open his mouth when the door opened slightly and he saw your face.
"You'll hurt your shoulder. It'll be my fault and you'll be excluded from patrols for a long time." you said "That's pointless. Go away."
"I'm not going until you talk to me." Joel replied, his dark eyes full of stubbornness that you knew so well "You can't keep hiding."
"Maybe I'm sick?"
"You don't seem to be."
And then with one strong push he opened the door and before you could stop him he went inside. His gaze swept the apartment, he heard your protests but didn't care.Â
Like a storm he passed through the small living room, peeked into the kitchen and when he entered the bedroom he found what he was looking for.
"Fuck! Get out of here!" you hissed, rushing after him, but then you noticed the bottle of whiskey he had taken from your nightstand.
"And these are bedtime snacks?" he growled, throwing a box full of medicines to the floor. "You robbed a fucking pharmacy?"
"None of your business!" you replied, he saw the fury in your eyes. "You're the last person who should be judging me."
"Or maybe I can, because I'm the only one who's ever shown up at your fucking door? What did you want to do, huh?" he put the bottle down with a bang and walked up to you, but you didn't take a single step back. "We were supposed to find you only when the stairwell started to stink? Did you think about Maria? About Ellie? That girl really likes you. Did you think about..."
About me.
Your gaze, although full of tears, was unwavering. You stood there, arms folded across your chest, your throat constricted so tightly that you couldn't swallow.
"Joel..." his name sounded like a prayer in your mouth. "I don't know what you were thinking, but this doesn't concern you. You shouldn't even be here. I tried to keep you out of this."
"Why?" his voice was a little calmer "Why are you like this? I can't figure it out. At first I thought we just didn't know each other well, but after so many months. I heard how freely you talked to Maria, Tommy said that you used to babysit their kid. I don't understand it!"
You closed your eyes as if his words brought you pain, as if they evoked all the emotions in you that you wanted to hide. Tears ran down your cheeks, and a quiet sob escaped your throat.
"I don't know how to deal with this, Joel..." you whispered after a moment, looking at him with eyes full of pain "It all hurts me so much. Every day. Patrols with you were an escape for me, you didn't ask stupid questions, I could feel safe there. But it's all always for a moment."
Joel approached you, his warm hand caressed your arm "You can tell me everything, you know that." you nodded "Come on, sit down."
He closed the bedroom door behind you as if he was leaving something unpleasant and bad there, and then sat down next to you on the couch. When you calmed down a bit, you looked at him like never before, almost with tenderness.
"When I came to Jackson, five years ago, I wasn't alone." you started slowly.
"Were you with someone? With some group?" Joel frowned, trying to remember that detail that must have escaped his attention.
You shook your head. "No, Joel. I wasn't alone, because I was pregnant."
Something twisted his guts. He didn't expect this.
"It was the middle of the seventh month, I guess. It's hard to get regular doctor's visits these days." The little joke was probably meant to lighten the mood, but even you didn't smile. "I've had a long journey. I was alone. Almost." you took a deep breath, and Joel felt his hands go cold and trembling in an instant. "It's funny, you know. Long time ago, women my age already had two kids. And I was completely unplanned pregnant and I hated every single day. I didn't want this baby, but it was there. It was growing. It was alive. I could feel it."
"What about the father?" Joel asked quietly.
A strange grimace crossed your face at the mere memory. "He wasn't father material, if that's what you mean. Some random guy. You know, as women we have another bargaining chip. Something that really tempts some men. Something we can use to survive."
He knew perfectly well what you meant. He had seen many women like that, but he didn't judge them. Everyone did what they had to to survive.
"He was nice, if that's any consolation. We stuck together for a while, and then we went our separate ways. After a while, I found out I was pregnant. But I didn't have anyone or anything at hand to help me solve this... problem." you rubbed your forehead with your hand as if you wanted to get rid of bad memories "Some guy told me about someone who could get rid of it manually, but I was afraid of infection. Then it was too late. Days and weeks passed, and I hated myself and this baby. The nausea was killing me. I was no longer good at smuggling. I also had no idea what I would do with a crying newborn... I got to Jackson, I thought maybe someone here would help me. Maria was so wonderful." a faint smile appeared on your lips, but you weren't even looking at Joel anymore. Your gaze was fixed on your clasped hands "I started bleeding a few days after I arrived. Then everything happened so quickly... The doctor at the clinic couldn't do anything. I had to give birth, but... There was so much blood... And silence. There was no baby crying."
Joel felt as if a heavy stone was resting in his stomach. He couldn't tear his eyes away from your face, but he couldn't say any words that could comfort you. And what the hell would they sound like. But you didn't wait for that, the words slowly flowed from your lips.Â
"The doctor said that my body was too weak, that long fatigue, improper diet, that he was too weak... I had a son. He was so small when Maria put him in my arms... And he was so perfect. I was so afraid that his crying would bring trouble to us, that he decided to be quiet."
"I'm sure it wasn't your fault..." Joel finally choked out "Things like that..."
"Happens. I know that." You interrupted him calmly "But it was my fault, Joel. When I saw him... I would have given my life so he could cry, so I could know he was healthy and strong. How could I have ever thought otherwise? What kind of person am I?"
Your voice broke. You looked exhausted and tired of life. Joel understood your guilt perfectly, he knew what you felt. Sarah appeared in his head in an instant.
"I had a daughter." His voice broke the long silence between you. "I lost her right at the beginning."
"I'm sorry." Your voice was quiet, but full of something that gave him some relief.
"After everything I wanted..." he cleared his throat "I wanted to do the same thing you wanted. I even tried, but... I know how you feel, it's so devastating, and it will never get easier."
"I still have him in my mind, you know. He'd be five now. He'd ask a thousand questions, and I'd have to make sure he doesn't get into trouble. Sometimes I think about what it would be like, but then I hate myself even more... I didn't want him. I wanted to get rid of him. Maybe it's because of this..."
"Don't say that." Joel grabbed your hands and squeezed them tightly. "You might have thought so. You were alone, and this world had gone mad. You got into Jackson, you could be safe here, but... These things happen."
You watched him carefully. Never before had you and Joel spoken so intimately, but you didn't feel embarrassed by it. On the contrary, it was the first time someone had really meant it when they said "I understand you."
"I'm sure she was beautiful." you said quietly.
"She was. And very smart. Much smarter than me." Joel added. "She probably would have gone to college or something."
For a moment, silence reigned again. You had the impression that you were both lost in your thoughts about the losses that affected you. You weren't beating each other, you just allowed yourselves to feel it all again.
"Did you really want to kill yourself?" his question brought you back to reality for a moment.
You nodded. "Look at me, Joel. I have nothing, no one. I don't know if I could ever get close to someone again. And all these thoughts only make me feel worse. Sometimes I wish I didn't have to feel anything anymore."
He understood it perfectly. After Sarah died, he felt that this world wasn't for him. Every day was torture, and the longer it lasted, the more he closed himself in his shell. Years passed, and Joel barricaded himself so much that no one and nothing could get him out.Â
And then Ellie appeared.
"You know..." he began uncertainly trying to find the right words. "I know what I'm going to say will seem pointless to you, but sometimes it's worth gritting your teeth and trying to live on. Not jumping into the deep end right away, but slowly, day by day. I know that your son..."
The name you gave him when you saw his face for the first time came out of your mouth. Joel repeated it gently.
"Your son would have a really fantastic mother." he said "I'm sorry you had to go through this. I really am."
Tears flowed down your cheeks and Joel struggled to put his arm around you so that you could snuggle up to him. You clung to him, and for the first time he felt the warmth of your body, your scent, your tender touch when you hugged him.
You sat like that for a long time. For the first time you talked about everything and nothing, he heard your quiet laughter a few times and noticed how much he liked it. It was all like honey to his heart. The feeling of loneliness he had disappeared when you were next to him.
He saw you the next day on patrol. It was the first sunny morning in a long time.
"Hi." Your quiet voice was the best thing he'd heard in a long time.
"Baby steps, right?" He nudged your shoulder lightly.
You smiled and followed him.

A/N: Here it is! I'm sooooo sorry @jackles010378 that this took so long. I would've had it up last week but my kid got sick and I had to learn how to solo parent hahaha. Anyway, this is the final competition oneshot, and I hope you enjoy it!
âWell well, what do we have here?â
A voice that I knew all too well reached my ears through the crowd of people in the bar. The deep tone of his voice immediately brought goosebumps to my skin and a small smirk to my lips. I straightened where I stood besides the pool table, lowering the cue and leaning on it lazily as I turned to the direction the voice had come from.
âDean Winchester,â I let my eyes travel over his rugged form; taking in the faint new scars on his face, his weather-beaten jacket and distinctive choice of plaid and denim. He looked virtually the same as he did when I last saw him four years ago - just older. His eyes now holding more haunting memories than any man should ever have to keep locked away in the depths of ones mind.
âTo what do I owe this pleasure?â I asked with the tilt of my head as he took a step closer, ignoring the bustling of people trying to get past him to order more drinks.
âYou know why weâre here,â he pushed his hands into his pockets as he took another step, slowly creeping closer.
âHmm,â I hummed, reaching for my beer and taking a sip, letting the bitter bubbles sit on my tongue for a moment before swallowing them down.
âSo, I take it this has nothing to do with coming for that falsely promised personal visit, and all to do with the pack of werewolves that have moved in across town?â I jabbed the beer bottle in his direction, feeling the smile on my face lose its warmth. Dean sighed and looked at his boots, and when heâd pondered on his answer, ready to verbalise it, I cut him off.
âJody has been doing her fucking best to keep shit safe around here with the skills you taught her. The least you could do is check in a couple of times a week - visit once a month.â
âListen sweetheart-â
âI donât need to hear how you saved the world five hundred times this week. I donât need to hear it second hand from other hunters. I need to hear it from you. She needs to hear that youâre ok. We all do.â
Dean looked up, his eyes meeting mine, clouded by a regretful shadow.
â(Y/n) Iâm sorry. Life has been so fucking messed up and sometimes I donât even know what fucking month it is. Iâll do better. Me and Sam - weâll be better.â
I stared at him intently, reassuring myself that he wasnât saying âheâd be betterâ if he didnât mean it. Heâd fed me empty lies wrapped in colourful silk in the past and Iâd unwrapped every one with a hopeful heart, disappointment following every single one of them. People live and they learn, and I was no exception.
âIf youâre not better, for Jodys sake - for Claire and Alex and even Donna - then I will never forgive you.â I stared at Dean long enough to feel the frustration towards him start to simmer in my veins, reminding me why I did what I did all those years ago. I was willing to endure him for my familyâs sake despite hating that stupid pedestal theyâd put him on - hating how in their eyes, he could do no wrong.
If only they could see him through my eyes.
The sound of long-strided footsteps and a familiar voice exclaiming âoh shitâ snapped me from my festering thoughts, and I looked up to see Sam walk up and stand next to Dean.
âSam!â I smiled, his face the picture of apprehension as he nervously smiled back.
âH-hey (Y/n), itâs been a while. Iâm surprised to see you.â
I raised an eyebrow and looked around the room incredulously before locking eyes with him again.
âSurprised to see me? Drinking in a bar, in my hometown? Where you guys know that I live? I know, right? Who wouldâve thunk it.â
Sam shifted nervously, like he wanted to whisper something to his brother or simply whisk him away to a booth where they could sip beers, work a case and ogle waitresses. I sighed out a mentally exhausted breath - the presence of the Winchesters flooding my mind with memories of a better time - a simpler time. Dean was right about one thing - that life was messed up.
âLook, Iâm clearly keeping you boys from your secret club meeting. I promise to behave if you do too,â I eyed them, waiting for them to accept the proposal of peace. Sam nodded, offering a few lacklustre words of poor convincing whilst Dean just stared at me, his lips twitching into a slight smirk, his eyes swimming in defiance.
âYouâve never been one to behave yourself, have you? Let's see how long this lasts.â
âFuck you, Dean.â
Sam pulled Dean away before any more weaponised words could be fired, Deans lips forever holding that slap-worthy grin as he eventually turned his back and headed to the other side of the bar.
For the whole evening I could feel eyes on my back and a prickle on my skin. No matter what I did or how much I tried to distract myself - I was so hyper-aware that the Winchesters were sitting at a table just across the room. Every time I turned my back or walked to the bar, I could feel myself scrutinised under an unwanted observation. As I politely turned down the offer of a drink from a handsome stranger, I felt my phone buzz in my pocket. I reached to answer it, my palms growing sweaty when I saw the name flash on the screen.
âHey Jody,â I fought to keep my voice steady, my previous frustrations starting to bubble to the surface again.
âHey (Y/n)! Youâre never going to guess whoâs in town!â
My teeth immediately clenched and I shot a glare over to where the brothers were sitting, watching Dean tuck his phone back into his pocket and drop his head into his hands.
When I failed to utter a single word at Jodyâs excited proclamation, she instantly caught on.
âOh shit, you know already, donât you?â
âYeah, I do.â
âYou at the bar?â
âYeah.â
âHave you spoken to him?â
âI feel like I spoke at him, which counts I guess.â
Despite knowing my inner conflictions, she chuckled slightly.
âYou give him a piece of your mind?â
âYup,â I sighed, running a hand over my face, âI think Iâm going to have to keep my distance from him, Jody. Just seeing him - looking at him after all these years - it hurts. It fucking hurts and he doesnât realise how much he messed me up with everything that he did and said,â I could feel that all too familiar burn in my eyes as I fought desperately against the tears; biting my lip to stop it from trembling. When I gave my emotions away with a not-so-discrete sniff, Jodyâs more sympathetic side emerged.
âAw sweet girl, I know itâs hard. Do you want me to come and get you?â
I shook my head despite knowing she couldnât see me and wiped away a rogue tear.
âNo itâs ok, I think I just need to be alone. Plus I know you - you want to spend some time and catch up with them, which is fine and I get it. Itâs just not something I can be there for right now,â I lifted my head and looked through the crowd of people, watching how Sam talked to Dean and Dean fiddled with his beer bottle again. I looked down before he could see me, though I knew he would be able to pick me out of any crowd anywhere within a matter of minutes. I hated that he knew me so well.
âIf youâre sure, you know where we are if you need anything.â
âI know, thanks Jody. And⌠Iâm sorry for making this so complicated for you. I know you have no reason to hate him, and I donât like putting you in the middle like this.â
â(Y/n) I get it sweetheart, you have nothing to apologise for. JustâŚâ she paused, as though debating if her words were worth saying.
âJust what?â
âJust don't do anything stupid,â I could hear the slight amusement in her voice despite her words of caution. I chuckled slightly, wiping away another tear.
âYou know me - I canât make that promise. Bye Jody, see you later.â
After the farewell I hung up the phone, deciding some fresh air would help me to cool my head.
I'd barely taken five steps out the bars entrance and into the parking lot when the harsh sound of rowdy chatter drew my attention. Snapping my head towards it, cold blood filled my veins at the sight in the shadows - the gut wrenching sight of a small group of men huddling together and attempting to steal a car.
To steal Baby.
The cold sensation of dread quickly transformed into the heat of fury as my blood started to boil at the sheer audacity of the thieving group, now doing their best to stay out of the glow of the street lamp. They were lucky it was me that had found them and not Dean, as the latter would have dropped every single one of them by now and not left a soul breathing. I know Dean and I no longer had any sort of relationship, but when we did, this car had been witness to every moment. Baby saw every smile, laugh, and happy tear shared between Dean and I, along with petty lovers quarrels and raw moments of lust filled passion. I'd lost count of how many times we'd steamed up those back windows since we were teenagers and Dean stole the car from his old man for our first date. Then there were the long rides from case to case - Sam and I arguing over who rode shotgun - with Metallica blasting from the speakers, windows rolled down and the wind wisping every worry away as we belted our lungs out. Those were the best moments of my life. In that car. And I'd be damned if I let some dive bar fuckheads steal her.
With zero hesitation I pulled out the gun tucked into my boot and fired three warning shots to the sky before aiming my piece at them, wary that they might also be packing.
âGet away from the FUCKING car - NOW!â
The anger in my voice was a deadly warning as the group turned to me like rabbits in the headlights before turning tail and bolting - one of them dropping a hefty crowbar in the process. As I lowered my gun when they fled, I turned around at the sound of hurried footsteps thumping on the gravel behind me.
âWhat the hell is going on?â Dean had arrived at my side before Sam and he reached to rest a hand on the small of my back; guided by muscle memory. I turned to face him, a small crowd gathering outside the bar to witness the fleeting commotion. As Sam arrived I explained, my voice harbouring a slight tremble of adrenaline and frustration.
âSome assholes tried to steal Baby-â
âWHAT?!â Deans voice filled with horror, yet his hand remained on my back.
âBut you- you're ok right? They didn't hurt you?â
âWhat? No, I'm fine.â
With my confirmation he withdrew his hand and doubled over, resting his palms on his knees and dropped his head, squeezing his eyes shut.
âUgh thank fuck - you scared the shit out of me.â
Sam, who appeared shortly after Dean, patted him on the back and flashed me a split-second grin, the glint lingering in his eyes.
âYeah, I don't think I've seen Dean move so fast - like⌠ever.â
I couldn't stop the soft, airy laugh leaving my lungs, a memory flooding my mind.
âI think the fastest I ever saw him move was when we used to hunt with your dad, and Dean took the car without permission. John ended up stranded at that god-awful motel for six hours after we accidentally fell asleep in the layby-â
âOh god, was that the motel with those raccoons?â Dean stood up straight, the memory seeming to light up his face as he looked me straight in the eye, the corner of his mouth twitching into a grin.
âYes - oh my GOD those raccoons were awful,â I started to chuckle and I could tell Dean was holding it in.
âRaccoons?â Sam asked, looking between us with a raised eyebrow. I opened my mouth to explain but Dean beat me to it.
âIn every corner of each room there was a taxidermy raccoon, however the person who taxidermied them obviously had no idea what an actual raccoon looked like.â
âMost of them had eyes that were too close together and their bodies were way too long - like some sort of ferret-raccoon hybrid,â I chimed in, the memory bringing warmth to my chest at the comical idiocy of it all.
âI remember dad turned his so they faced the wall and away from the bed,â Dean let out a small laugh, managing to pull one from Sam as well as we slowly made our way over to the car, my gun returned to the holster in my boot.
âI'm pretty sure that was the first and last thing that ever gave John Winchester genuine heebie jeebies,â I looked up at Sam's disbelieving expression.
âAnd your brother hid his in the bottom of the closet.â
Dean grimaced before chuckling again.
âThey had tiny little ferret-raccoon buttcheeks.â
âOh god yeah, they were so prominent.â
âSo prominent.â
Stepping up to Baby, Dean gave her a thorough once over, running his large hands gently over the places most likely to have laid victim to the crowbar. After three laps and continuous scrutiny, he deemed her unharmed.
We stood together for a moment in silence, the conversation having bled out, leaving nothing but our prior heavy tension and my own dwelling sorrow. I looked up at them both, my gaze lingering on Dean.
âLook, I need to go. I can't- I can't be around you right now, Dean. I'm glad Baby is ok and IâŚâ I sucked in a breath, steadying my voice, âI wish you all the best. Both of you. Stay safe out there.â with my final words I spun on my heel and left.
The motel room was pitch black save for the small box TV flickering in the corner, the original Ghostbusters playing through blown out speakers. I sat in the middle of the couch rocking baggy plaid pj pants and an old band t-shirt (likely Deans, much to my own dismay). With criss-crossed legs and a bowl of popcorn in my lap, I attempted to wallow, Rory Gilmore style, over a man who I would never fully get over. Mine and Deans relationship had ended years ago, yet here I was, the wound still as fresh as the day it was inflicted. Most days I get by, and sometimes even forget the pain he caused me, allowing me to feel light and almost normal. But seeing him in the flesh, catching the scent of him and hearing his voice had turned my defences to ash. I felt exposed and raw, my heart practically on a silver platter ready for another round of being ripped to pieces. I thought I would be able to handle it if I ran into him. I knew deep down in my gut that it would happen eventually, that it was unavoidable given my living arrangements. That he would likely come and visit Jody and the others, and I would have to pretend that everything was ok - that my heart wasn't still breaking over him. I'd avoided him for this long, always able to find the perfect excuse to not be around when he showed up. It was about time the avoidance streak ran it out.
The sound of his laugh earlier this evening had tightened every muscle in my chest, reminding me of every blissful moment we'd spent together - obsessed with each others company and craving nothing else on this fucked up Earth. His smile had made me want to weep, knowing I no longer got to wake up to it every morning or let it be the last thing I witnessed before sleep. The smile that got us both into so much trouble, both as teenagers and adults alike. The smile that always made arguments feel absurd half way through. No matter who I encounter in life or how many people God throws at me in an attempt to fill the void left behind by Dean, it's an incurable hole in my soul that can never be healed.
I shovelled a handful of popcorn into my mouth as I watched the movie unfold - desperate for the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man to reach through the screen and devour me along with my melancholy attitude. Too preoccupied with the film and the strange attraction I seemed to be harbouring to men in boiler suits, I almost missed the low rumble of an engine pull into the motel parking lot outside my room. An all too familiar engine. My ears pricked before reality dawned, the blood draining from my face.
âThat son of a bitch.â
I scrambled off the couch and ducked behind it, popcorn flying, knowing all too well that he'd come peering in through the gaps in the blind - which my dumbass had left open so I could watch the rain. Heavy rain and self pity went together like jack and coke after all.
There were a few breaths of silence after the squeak and slam of the impala door, and I thought maybe I'd gotten away with it. Perhaps he was staying in a room further down? Fate was forever against me though when there was a loud knock on the door. I flinched, anxiety dampening my palms as I tucked my knees into my chest and held my breath, praying to Chuck himself that Dean would leave. That he'd convince himself that he was making a reckless decision by being here, or that he had the wrong room. I almost jumped out of my skin when he rapped on the window and his voice boomed through the pattering of rain and static-y TV audio.
âI know you're in there (Y/n), now open the door.â
Even if I'd wanted to move, the ability to do so had fled my body, my muscles petrified at the thought of confronting him. I jumped again when he hammered on the door this time, the cheap wood rattling on its hinges.
âJesus Christ, (Y/n)! Your truck is parked outside and I can see your hunting gear on the table. Open the fucking door!â
âGo away!â
âNot until you let me speak to you!â
âNo!â
There was a loud THUD as his boot collided with the door and I heard him growl in frustration. I could just picture him pacing in a circle, running a hand through his hair.
â(Y/n)-â
âPlease, Dean, just⌠just don't. I can't look at you.â I felt my voice shrink as I pulled my knees tighter to my chest, unsure if he caught my words. He did.
âWhat- why not?â His voice was a wretched mix of desperation and confusion, cracking between words.
I was quiet for a moment, letting the silence hang thick in the air before I pushed myself to my feet, instantly missing the comfort of the upright foetal position. I wandered over to the door, my fuzzy-socked feet padding on the thread-bare carpet.
âBecause,â I leant against the wood, my heart aching at the thought of him being so close yet so devastatingly untouchable, âif I open this door I'm going to undo all the progress I've made with getting over you, Dean.â His name was bittersweet as it slid off my tongue. The quiet sound of Dean sucking in a breath hissed through the gaps in the wood.
âPlease, sweetheart. I need you to open this door.â
The softer tone of his voice made him infinitely harder to resist, but I had to stand my ground.
âDean, you know I can't,â my eyes burned as the tears started to well, my voice objecting to my words with a pitiful rasp.
âYes you can,â he paused, âyou have to, otherwise I'm going to kick this piece of shit down.â
My eyes flew wide.
âNo-no Dean-â
âStand back.â
âDon't!â
âThreeâŚâ
âStop-â
âTwoâŚâ
âDean-â
âOne-â
âFine!â
I grasped the handle and flung the door open, my heart dancing with my stomach when I finally caught sight of him. There he was, soaked through from the rain and giving me that woeful Mr Darcy stare. The water droplets clung to his lashes and trickled down his cheeks, the breathtaking beauty of him erasing the pre-prepared sentence from my mind. Now, all I could think at that moment was to get him warm and dry. The noose around my heart tightened when I reached a hand out to grasp his, pulling him in out of the downpour. As the door closed behind him there was a pause, my quickly dissolving self restraint making it agonising to be in his presence. And Dean seemed to know that, yet he remained.
â(Y/n)-â
âDonât,â as the cold water started to pool around his boots, I paced over to the bathroom, quickly emerging with a fuzzy towel in hand. I passed it over to him slowly, treating him like a wild, unpredictable animal that could pounce at any moment. He took it gently from my grasp, his fingers softly brushing mine. His skin was cold and damp from the outdoors. We stood in silence for a few moments whilst Dean dried his hair as best as he could, shortly after shrugging off his jacket to hang on the dining chair beside him. As he continued to ruffle his hair dry, I steeled myself, taking a deep breath and crossed my arms over my chest.
âWhy are you here, Dean? What do you want?â
He lowered the towel and hung it with his jacket, sighing from the pit of his stomach.
âMe and Sam went to see Jody and the others. I was hoping to run into you again - I wanted to talk to you. But when you didnât appear, Jody said youâd checked out for a few nights - said you wanted to be away from the house when⌠uhâŚâ his voice faltered and something akin to guilt flashed in his eyes. Unable to finish his sentence he leant on the table, staring intently at the pile of hunting gear I'd dumped there.
âWhen you arrived,â I finished it for him, âYeah, thatâs right. And I told  her not to tell you where I was.â
âShe didnât,â he stood up straight again, holding his hands up, âI knew you wouldnât have gone far, so I drove around until I spotted your truck,â he admitted, gaze flitting down to the floor. More silence followed, the atmosphere thickening as the seconds ticked by.
âDean,â my voice was small as my anxiety spiked again, the question ready to spill from my mouth though no matter what he said, I knew I wasnât ready for the answer. âWhy are you here? What do you want from me? You say you want to talk, but youâre the one who ended everything. You ended our decades-long relationship out of fucking nowhere. What could there possibly be to talk about anymore. Itâs been four years.â My voice trembled and he clenched his teeth, looking away from me before setting his eyes back to the floor. He dragged his gaze back up to mine, and something burned deep in those evergreen irises that took my breath away. Yet he remained silent.
âYou crushed me when out of nowhere you said we were over - that we had no future. That you couldn't imagine growing old with me, like we'd always talked about. You have no idea how much you broke my fucking heart, and then you just expected me to live alongside you in the bunker like nothing was wrong? In my own room, far away from you? Why did you think that I would be ok with that?â I felt the familiar drip of hot tears and they flooded down my cheeks and rolled off my chin, the dam Iâd fought so hard to contain now bursting wide with vengeance.
âYou think I wanted you to leave?â Dean spoke up finally, his voice deep and gravelly, like it always was when he was upset. âYou donât think that telling you that everything was over wasnât the hardest thing that Iâve ever had to do? That I was happy watching you pack your bags and walk out without so much as a goodbye?â
âYou didnât love me, Dean, so why would you have cared? You obviously didnât love me the way that I loved you.â
He flinched, but took a step closer.Â
âYou think this is because I stopped loving you? (Y/n)... it wasnât safe- you werenât safe in the bunker. You werenât safe with meâŚâ his expression turned to one of pain as his brows pinched and his eyes glistened. He took a deep breath. âI thought maybe if you just stayed in the bunker with little to no association with me, then it would be ok. I mean, I'd still get to see you, talk to you. Be in your fucking presence. I never expected you to- toâŚâ he took another deep breath, his lungs almost stuttering. âI didnât think you would leave.â
He never took his eyes off mine. I saw the years of hurt and heartbreak intertwine with glimmers of green and gold, the emotions I always knew heâd struggled to cope with were swimming in a pool of desperation and fear. On the outside, Dean Winchester was the strongest there was. He was an undefeated and undisputed leader of men. He was the King of hunters. The Alpha. The man who could make you wish you were dead. Yet here he was, wearing every vulnerable emotion on his sleeve as he stood before me with anxious breaths and fearful eyes. The sight made my heart break all over again.
âDean,â his name was like a quiet prayer as he moved closer again, âI donât think you understandâŚâ
âUnderstand what, sweetheart?â the rasp in his voice pebbled goosebumps on my skin, and when he reached for a lock of my hair to twirl around his finger, I had to fight off every instinct to just throw myself into his arms and bury my face in his chest. His familiar scent floated through the air and wrapped itself around my senses, and when I breathed him in the aroma of old leather and gunpowder went straight to my brain like a hit of cocaine. The pleasant hum from my chest was involuntary.Â
âI donât think you understand that⌠thatâŚâ I sighed a woeful breath, looking up at him and seeing nothing but a warm, expectant gaze.
âThat Iâm still in love with you.â
The finger Dean had looped around my hair froze in place and I heard him suck in a breath, his lips parting. He remained unmoving, as though every thought racing through his mind had taken precedence over his body. It was a moment before he blinked, coming back down to Earth. When he looked down at me, all of the desperation, hurt and heartbreak dissipated from his eyes and in their place was the blazing heat of hope, accentuated by a small upturned twitch of his lips.
âYou do?âÂ
âYes.â
âYouâre not fucking with me?â
âNo.â
âGood.â
Before I could react Dean had scooped me into his arms and crashed his mouth onto mine. The urge to push him away and tell him to get the fuck out bubbled up inside me, however when his familiar taste graced my tongue, a taste that was home, every desire for him to leave evaporated. The years of being apart, of being unable to touch him had made every caress electric, no matter how feather-light. My hands had tangled in his shirt as he pressed his mouth harder onto mine, pulling him crushingly close. His embrace was almost suffocating before he gently slid his hands up and threaded his rough fingers through my hair, and I lifted my own hands to do the same. I took my time with the motion, reminding myself of what he felt like - not that the memory of him ever truly left. I remembered how the muscles across his stomach and chest felt hard beneath a soft layer of skin. I remembered the way they quivered at my touch, and how my touch always pulled soft moans from his lips. My hands crept up to take hold of his face, the familiar feeling of his rough stubble beneath my fingertips ever present, a reminder of how that rough stubble felt when it tauntingly brushed against other parts of my body. I cupped his cheeks, feeling my own tears dampen his skin. He kissed me in a way that said Iâm sorry, a kiss that held four years of pent up emotions with a desire to be released. A kiss that I knew was designed specifically for me. Our breaths and lips became frantic, the pace in which we were now devouring each other was still not enough to soothe the wounds in our hearts that were so desperate to be healed. Dean pulled away and held my face in his hands, running his rough thumbs over the soft skin under my eyes to wipe away the tears.
âI miss you, so fucking much,â his voice was low, his words for my ears only - not that anyone else was listening.
âI miss you too,â I sniffled, resting my palms on his chest again and relishing in the heat seeping through his shirt.
He leant down and rested his forehead against mine, taking a deep breath with his eyes closed. The atmosphere shifted however when he dipped down lower and pressed a hot kiss to my cheek, then to my ear, and then to my neck - each press of his lips drawing a shiver from my spine. I gasped when he nibbled my pulse point gently and my hands flew to grasp the short strands of hair at the back of his neck, my nails dragging over his scalp. He groaned against me at the sensation, one large hand moving to grip my hair at its roots whilst the other slid to my hip - squeezing the soft flesh. A moan of his name slipped past my lips and it was like a switch was flipped as he pulled away suddenly. He turned to take a few steps across the room, attempting to put some distance between us. I stood, baffled for a moment, but when he turned back to me and his vibrant eyes were now black with lust, I almost knew what he was going to say.
âDo you really want to go there sweetheart? Do you think youâll be able to handle it?â he started making slow strides back towards me and I pulled my bottom lip between my teeth.Â
âYes,â my voice was more breathy than Iâd anticipated.
âNo regrets?â he was almost within reach again.
âNo regrets.â
When his hands landed on my waist again, his frenzied kisses on my lips, I was expecting to be able to ravage him equally; but when he lifted me and threw me over his shoulder like I weighed nothing I let out a shocked yelp.Â
âDean!â
He chuckled, the sound low in his chest as he strode over to the bed and threw me down, the impact on the mattress knocking a breath out of me.
âIâve not been able to fuck you sensless for four years, there ainât no way Iâm going easy on you tonight sweetheart.â I propped myself up on my elbows and watched as he tore his top from his body. I barely got a glimpse of his rugged physique that Iâd so terribly missed before he all but pounced, trapping me beneath him. My hands immediately clung to the tight muscles of his back, my nails digging in and drawing a hiss from his clenched teeth before his mouth pressed to my neck right below my ear.
âDo you remember how you used to scream my name?â
I nodded.
âIâm going to make you scream much, much, louder than you ever have before. Iâm going to make all past encounters feel like a warm up compared to what Iâm gonna do to you tonight.â I shivered at his words as his hot breath fanned over my skin. His hands were fast, desperately tugging on my pyjama pants to slip one inside the soft fabric, not bothering to remove them entirely. There was an urgency to his movements like nothing Iâd ever seen, the air leaving my lungs on a gasping moan when his fingers grazed my underwear. He chuckled slightly, pressing a series of searing kisses down my neck to my collar bone.Â
âWell, aren't you sensitive? How long has it been, darlinâ? Since someone else touched you - since someone else made you cum?â The heat rose to my already flushing cheeks at his words and I tried to cover my face with the back of my hand. My attempts to hide were futile as his long fingers wrapped around my wrist and he pinned my arm above my head.Â
âWell?â he pressed, a smirk on his lips.
âFour years,â I all but squeaked. He thought for a moment before his smirk evolved into a widespread grin. âDon't let it go to your head, Winchester,â I did my best to bite out my words yet my voice trembled with a mixture of apprehension and excitement. My head rolled into the quilt and my back arched when he pushed his finger against my clit through my underwear a second time, this time harder, more purposeful. His own breath was shuddering as he continued to plant hot kisses against my skin, the slight dampness from his lips cooling quickly when he pulled back to sit on his knees. My heart didn't know if it wanted to stop dead in my chest or palpitate itself into oblivion when he looked down at me. Dean eminated a dark, primal hunger, glazing his eyes with lust as he gnawed his bottom lip. There wasn't a part of me that he hadn't seen before, and despite my current lack of nakedness it was as if I wasn't wearing anything at all. He made a noise in his chest that seemed to roll up his throat, like a growl of approval as I lay like prey beneath him. Dean may be older now, but he was bigger. Broader. Larger. The years of saving the world and fighting every abomination in his path had forced him to bulk up most exquisitely. With my free hand I traced over the scars adorning his shoulders, chest and abdomen: some old and silver, some newer and pink. There were even a fresh few, still scabbed over, and he shivered at every gentle touch. His gaze, however, was unrelenting. Without uttering a word he yanked my pyjama bottoms from my legs and tossed them into the depths of the room, immediately doing the same with my underwear. Instinctively I attempted to pull my knees together despite him being planted between them and he laughed softly, dragging his dark eyes over my slightly squirming body. He clutched my hand that was touching his chest and pinned it with my other one above my head, leaning down to lift the hem of my t-shirt, to gather above my breasts with his teeth. A shiver tore through me as his hot breath dusted the soft skin of my stomach and ribs, perking my nipples instantly.
âI think your body missed me sweetheart.â
âDefinitely not just my body,â I panted. He breathed over my lips for a moment, every possibility of tonight's endeavours flashing before his eyes before he dipped his head to kiss me. His mouth moved slightly slower this time, like he was desperately trying to control the beast inside and make every moment count. To make every moment memorable.
âDo you remember Oasis Plains, Oklahoma? With that fancy house we borrowed?â His voice dropped an octave, eyes hooded as he recalled the memory.
âYes,â I practically clenched, remembering the late night escapades from all those years ago. In my mind it was like yesterday - the way his lips felt on my skin, how his strong fingers bruised my thighs, and how he brought me to total completion no less than three times. His lips twitched up as he slid down my body and off the edge of the bed to kneel on the floor. He roughly gripped my thighs and threw them over his shoulders before slowly, tantalisingly sliding his hands up the supple flesh to grasp my ass and pull my whole body towards him.
âIâm gonna make you lose your fucking mind, just like you did back then. Maybe I'll even beat that record.â
My eyes could've disappeared inside my skull with how far they rolled back, his mouth's quick descent over my most intimate area - a soft kiss placed just above my clit - had me gasping in anticipation. Without a second to gather my thoughts he pressed his next kiss to that bundle of nerves; the wet heat of his mouth sending a pulse after pulse of fire through my veins as I twitched at his touch. He was an expert. Every flick of his tongue was practised and calculated, knowing which way to swirl, to caress, and how much pressure to apply. It was only a matter of minutes before my hands plunged into his hair and I grasped desperately at the soft strands, feeling that tidal wave build, and build, and build before he daringly grazed his teeth over my clit and it sent the wave crashing down around me, my body arching off the soft mattress as I came undone in his arms at the mercy of his mouth.Â
âF-FUCK- Dean-â
My limbs twitched as they relaxed on the come-down, Deans tongue softly tracing up and down my opening. Without pulling away, he spoke in a husky tone:
âFuck, sweetheart. You have no idea how many times I've reminisced about you moaning my name like that.â
The breath from his words made me shiver, and I moved to prop myself up on my elbows.Â
âReady for round two?â His voice remained low, not waiting for my inevitable confirmation before slowly dipping a finger into my still-clenching walls. The moan that slipped past my lips pulled a groan from Dean, a second finger joining the first as they curled up to push against the soft cushion hidden in the depths of my core. He knew where to find it with zero hesitation - his fingers seemingly acting on muscle memory as he beckoned another orgasm from me. He coaxed it forward, my inner nerves dangerously sensitive as the pleasure began to pool for a second time. With every motion of his finger, again and again, I started to feel the coil twist. I was in two minds on whether to be mortified by how easily he could pull a climax from my very soul, or impressed by it. Either way, he had me teetering on the edge a second time before a single flick of his tongue snapped the coil and euphoria claimed me once more.
His name merged with the endless moans spilling from my mouth, my hazy brain struggling to differentiate the two.
âShit, you taste so good baby. I could devour you all night.â
âI wouldn't stop you.â
He grinned.
âAs much as I would love to indulge you, I need to fuck you. Now.â
He pushed on the backs of my thighs, urging me to centre myself on the bed before he climbed back over me. I could feel myself salivating at the sight of his broad shoulders flexing under his weight, his skin damp with sweat from being trapped beneath my thighs.
He leant down to capture my mouth again, a kiss fueled with raw, carnal desire as he struggled to hold himself back. He shuddered under my fingertips as I trailed them down his torso to his belt, hastily unfastening the buckle and top button of his jeans. It was a joint effort to push them off his hips and down his thighs, but that's as far as they went. The feral need to be inside me had consumed him, and I'd barely withdrawn my hands from between us when he lined up and buried himself to the hilt.Â
The burn and stretch was immediate - knocking the air from my lungs as I clutched his solid biceps like a lifeline, my nails indenting his scarred skin. He had the common decency to stay still for around ten seconds before his self restraint diminished yet again and he withdrew slowly. I could feel the divine ridges on his length through the immense build up of my slick and his spit, and as he eased back in he dropped his head into the crook of my neck with a gasp and a groan. A large, rough palm glided down my thigh, goosebumps in its wake as he grasped beneath my knee to rest my leg on his hip. Another moan filled the air between us at the new angle, the top of his cock kissing the soft, sensitive cushion inside. His mouth was hot on my neck as his hips found a rhythm against mine - a rhythm that gradually increased in speed with the intense pleasure unrelenting on my over-sensitive insides. My next impending climax swiftly appearing on the horizon.
âDean,â I pleaded, my eyes cracking open to look up at him through welling tears, âI'm getting close again-â
He lifted his head, that play-boy grin finding his lips as he saw the mess I'd become at his touch; the mascara-stained tear tracks smudging on my cheeks and the unruly sex-hair was always a good sign of a good time.
âI need you to let go sweetheart - cum for me. PleaseâŚâ
His words were the cherry on the cake for my undoing yet again and I felt my whole body explode with pleasure and tense up around him. The third orgasm of the night had my vision blurring when he cursed under his breath at my contracting walls, yet he didn't let up. He fucked me through the mind blowing bliss, not letting me catch my breath as a fourth climax hit me out of nowhere, the torturous attack on my g-spot making me feel close to blacking out.
âF-FUCK- Dean- Please- I can't,â my voice was hoarse from the moans and ragged breaths ripping from my throat every other second and my whole body trembled, slick with sweat from both myself and Dean. Despite the death grip I had on Deans cock, every involuntary clench making my knees twitch, he still wasn't finished. His powerful thrusts stuttered slightly before he pulled out, causing me to suck a breath through my teeth. Before I had a chance to query his actions he flipped me with ease, landing me flat on my stomach, my face buried in the soft quilt. Much like before, he didn't wait for an invitation to push back in, the overstimulated nerves in my core sending a jolt through every aching muscle in my body. The deeper angle pulled a cry from my lips when he bottomed out, and if I didn't know any better I would've said that his cock was in my ribcage. Deans large, warm hands took up residence on the supply flesh around my hips, tugging them up so my ass was in the air.
âShit, (Y/n), with a view like this I'm not gonna last much longer- fuck,â Deans words were strained as he picked up the pace again, albeit this time there was an urgency to his movements. A desperate desire to experience the same Earth shattering euphoria that he had hand delivered to me. With my face in the fabric I snuck a hand down between my legs, finding the pleasure of circling my clit both a relief and an amplifier for the scorching pleasure Dean was inflicting. It didn't take long for him to tear my hand away, only to replace it with his own - pulling noises from my lips that were a whole new calibre of erotic that I didn't know I was capable of. My moans had an effect on Dean, and the hand that was on my hip, that was kneading my soft skin with a bruising grip had shot forwards and planted beside my head, bracing his weight above me. I couldn't see him but I could feel his solid chest against my back, his head dipping down to place rough kisses against my shoulder, his stubble tickling the sensitive skin there. I prepared myself for the bruises I'd find on my body in the morning - his firm hold on me would have been almost painful given any other situation. That's not to forget the biting and sucking he was now subjecting my neck and shoulder blades to - the sensation setting my skin ablaze. Deans strained breaths were a tell for his own impending end, with his hips losing their strong rhythm as he panted out laboriously. The sound of him on the verge of bliss, accompanied by every other agonising ministration performed on my body had me unravelling one last time; one hand fisting the sheets whilst the other reached back, my nails brushing over Deans scalp and toying with his short, soft hair. The fluttering of my channel around his cock was all it took to bring him to his long awaited fervid finish. I trembled beneath him as he groaned into my ear, the sound something primal, something almost unhinged. We remained still for a moment, waiting for the post climax clarity to come along and make us regret our decision. He pulled out slowly, earning a hiss from both of us at the loss of warmth and intimate contact. The simultaneous feeling of emptiness and relief was an odd feeling, as I know full well heâd ruined me for anyone else - no one in Heaven or Hell could compete with that. Not that I wanted them to in the first place. Every nerve ending in my lower region fizzled with overstimulation, yet I couldn't have felt more relaxed; more satiated. For the first time in a very, very, long time, I felt complete.Â
Dean grabbed the towel he'd left on the back of the chair and used it to catch the evidence of our intimacy, the wetness cooling quickly on my thighs as I pushed myself to sit on my knees. I turned and looked up at him, watching as he stood beside the bed, eyeing me nervously. I raised an eyebrow, a small smirk playing on my lips.
âWhat's wrong? Regretting the whole âNo Regretsâ thing already?âÂ
He shook his head.
âDo you?â His voice held a crackle that equaled his nervous expression.
I shook my head. He looked down at his clothes on the floor.
âNo, although I'm getting the impression from you that this was a one time thing,â he must've heard the disappointment when I spoke, his eyes flying up to meet mine.
âWhy would you say that?â
âBecause you're picking your shit off the floor like you're about to leave, that's why.â
âYouâŚwant me to stay? I thought-â
âDid I fucking stutter when I said I still love you, Dean? Because I do, and it's all-consuming and to be totally honest, I never want to leave your side again.â Heat bloomed across my cheeks at my sudden proclamation. Deans grip on his clothes slackened, letting it all fall back to the floor. From the look on his face it was like I'd just declared him King of the world; like a light switched on behind his eyes and a smile threatened to spread across his face.
âYeah?âÂ
I fiddle with my fingers in my lap, pulling my bottom lip between my teeth.
âYeah-whoa!â
I didn't get the chance to feel bashful or embarrassed when Dean tackled me onto the bed. At first he peppered my still-damp skin with small kisses that tickled with his stubble, before placing his mouth over mine. I couldn't recall a time that he'd kissed me so softly, and accompanied by the gentle embrace of his arms with his fingers carefully threading through my hair, it was enough to bring me to tears.
âI've missed you so much,â my sniffles brought an almost relieved smile to his features as he pulled back and stroked my hair with overwhelming tenderness.
âI've missed you too, sweetheart.
So fucking much.â

Return the Favour
summary: after buck saves reader when her apartment building goes up in flames, they run into each other at a bar. buck's on an awful first date, and reader decides to help him get out of it.
word count: 5.6k
request: I was wondering if i could request a story about Evan Buckley saving a plus size reader for like a fire or some dangerous situation and they're both attracted to each other but neither of them acts on. A few weeks later or so Buck is actually saved by reader while he's on a bad date he's trying to get out of and (like she makes up an excuse for him or plays along with something he says) and he ends up asking her out.
A/N: i'm sorry this took so long but it's finally out and i may have gotten carried away! this was my first buck request, and it was really fun! and i'm so used to writing good luck charm now that i had to search "evan" and change them all to "buck" at the end LOL also i threw in some abby shade, can you find it?? hehe. anyway, enjoy <3
warnings: reader is caught in a fire, no use of y/n, plus size!reader, fem!reader, race inclusive!reader
You wake up in the middle of the night to the fire alarm in your building echoing off the walls of your apartment. Youâre immediately disoriented, as the booming sound makes your ears ring and your head spin. You jump out of bed and make your way out to your living room, and your breath catches in your throat when you see the smoke quickly filling the room. You make your way to your front door, but jump back in pain as the flat surface burns the back of your hand.
Dread fills your belly as you look around the room frantically. You see your cat cowering under your kitchen table, and you quickly run to grab her before she hides under anything where you wonât be able to reach her. You grab her and she lets out a loud meow, but you keep her squirmy body in your arms as you make your way to your window.
Youâre four storeys up, and your landlord has still not fixed your fire escape, although youâve been asking for months. Either way, you throw open your window, hoping to get some fresh air as smoke fills your lungs and burns your throat.Â
You run to your room and grab your phone, quickly dialing 9-1-1 as tears form in your eyes.
â9-1-1, whatâs your emergency?â the operator asks.
â3246 Weston St. My apartment buildingâs on fire.â you tell her frantically, phone pressed between your ear and shoulder as you struggle to get onto the fire escape with your cat still in your arms.
âYes, we know about that. I see fire escapes on the outside of the building. Can you get down?â she asks you calmly, and you feel an odd sense of calm fill your body as her voice fills your ears.
âItâs broken, thereâs no ladder. My landlord wonât fix it.â you tell her softly, squeezing your cat to your chest as more tears start to fall.
âWhatâs your name?â You answer her, sniffling softly.
âHi, Iâm Maddie. Weâre gonna get through this together, okay? Thereâs already firefighterâs on the scene. Can you tell me what side of the building youâre on?â You shake your head, but then reply quickly, knowing she canât see you.
âI donât see any. Iâm on the back side of the building, on the fire escape. On the fourth floor.â She mumbles an âokayâ as she types on her computer.Â
âAlright, Iâm sending a team over to you, theyâll be right there. Is it just you in your apartment?â
âJust me and my cat.â you mumble, feeling a little silly at your response. The smoke is starting to waft out onto the fire escape, and it makes you cough loudly.
âIâm gonna stay right here with you, okay? Weâre gonna get you down. The firefighters should be there now. Do you see them?â You wait for a moment as you look down at the ground, and your heart drops once you see the bright lights turn the corner.
âI see them.â you whisper, holding your cat tighter as the sirens spook her. You barely even hear Maddieâs response as your heart hammers in your chest. You make your way to the railing of the fire escape, watching as the aerial ladder is extended up to you.
You let out a sigh of relief once two very attractive firefighters are almost up to you on the ladder. You canât help the embarrassment filling your body as you look down at your oversized shirt, with no bra, just long enough to cover your short spandex shorts, but youâre too happy to finally get off of your fire escape that you donât care.Â
âEddie, you get the cat, Iâll get her.â one of them speaks, and the other one, Eddie, nods as he holds out his arms towards you.
You let out a soft sigh before you hand your cat to him, watching nervously as he starts making his way down the ladder with your cat twisting around in his arms. Buck takes this moment to trail his eyes down your figure, taking in your thick thighs and soft tummy. Youâre absolutely gorgeous, but thereâs no time for that.
âAlright, letâs get you down.â Buck tells you, his eyes flicking back up to meet yours. You cross your arms instinctively as your eyes trail down the ladder. He senses your fear, and holds his hands out.
âIâm Buck. Whatâs your name?â he asks when you donât make a move to the ladder. He sees the gears turning in your head as you mumble your name, and he smiles softly, rolling it around on his tongue, committing it to memory.
âItâs okay, Iâll be right behind you the whole time.â he says softly, trying to coax you out onto the ladder. Your eyes move to his hands before going back up to his face, and you nod slowly. You put your hands on the railing, ready to hoist yourself over the railing and onto the ladder.
âAlright, Iâm gonna hold onto you to keep you steady. Is that okay?â he asks, and you nod as nerves fill your belly. He grabs onto your plush hips firmly as you swing one leg over the railing, and he helps guide your other leg over the ladder until your bare feet are on the ladder.Â
âThere you go, I got you.â he whispers once youâre pressed against him. He moves one hand off your hip and grips the railing of the ladder, then urges you to start making your way down backwards, with him going down first behind you.Â
You close your eyes for a moment and let out a shaky breath, then start to move once you open your eyes again. He keeps one hand on your hip the whole way down, keeping his body tense in case you slip. He tries to keep his eyes respectfully on the back of your head, but he canât help it when his eyes trail down to your ass, just barely covered by your shorts as your shirt rides up.
âYouâre doing so good. Just a few more steps.â he speaks once youâre almost to the bottom of the ladder. You smile softly at his words, despite the way your heart is pounding out of your chest. His presence calms you.
Once youâre finally down on the ground, you turn to him with a shy smile.Â
âThank you.â you say softly, looking up at him.
âOf course. You should get checked out. Make sure you didnât inhale too much smoke.â he tells you, returning your smile. Now that he has the chance, he studies your face. If he was still the old Buck, he would ask you out, loving your sweet voice, pretty face, and gorgeous body. But he doesnât date people he meets on the job anymore, and heâs cursing himself for that rule right about now.
You let him take you over to the ambulance, and youâre surprised when he stays there with you. The fire is for the most part out, as a few other stations were also called, so he doesnât feel bad staying with you. He stands in front of you as Hen checks you out, taking your cat from Eddie while he waits.
He canât help but strike up a conversation as he pets your cat, desperate to know more about you. He asks where youâre from, and what you do, and even manages to ask if youâre single. He doesnât flat out ask that question, but after asking about your apartment, he learns that you donât often have people spending the night, and heâs relieved.
You learn more about him too. You learn that his sister is the operator that you spoke to on the phone, and that heâs from Pennsylvania. He tells you a little about his travels before he landed in LA, but thereâs not much time to go into detail, as Hen finishes looking you over quickly.
He hands you back your cat, and your hands brush each otherâs as you take her back. You both freeze at the small contact, lingering for a moment too long.
âWell it was nice to meet you. Thanks again.â you trail off as you look up at him. You want to see him again, but youâre sure heâs just this nice with everyone while on the job.
âYeah, it was nice meeting you too. Do you have somewhere to go tonight?â His voice has a hint of concern, thinking about you having nowhere to go. He lets out a relieved sigh as he sees you nod.
âMy friend lives a few blocks away. I can get an Uber over there.â you reply.
âWeâll wait with you. Donât want you alone out here.â Your smile widens at his kindness, and you can feel your cheeks heating up at his insistence, although youâre sure itâs probably just protocol. You feel butterflies in your tummy at the idea of him wanting to stay, regardless of the reason.Â
In reality, he just wants to spend more time with you. Heâs on the verge of asking you out, but as your Uber pulls up, he decides he shouldnât. Maybe itâs better this way, he thinks.
You thank him once again before you get into the Uber, also thanking Eddie and Hen quickly, who are standing back and watching you and Buck with raised brows.
Once youâre in the car and itâs finally out of sight, Hen and Eddie canât help but laugh. Buck turns to them with furrowed brows, his cheeks heating up in embarrassment.
âWhat?â he asks as he fights back a smile, still thinking about you.
âFor a second I thought you were gonna invite her to go home with you.â Hen teases him, bumping her shoulder with his as they walk back towards the front of the ambulance, which is right behind the fire truck.
âI donât date people I meet on the job anymore; you know that.â he says with a soft laugh, shaking his head.
âThatâs a shame. You two were really hitting it off.â Eddie adds onto Henâs teasing, smirking as they all walk side by side.
âYeah, I know.â Buck murmurs, getting slightly upset. Heâs starting to regret not asking for your number; heâs already desperate to see you again.Â
Heâs forced to push it aside quickly, however, as he hears Bobbyâs voice over the radio calling the three of them to the front of the building for triage.
A few weeks later, youâre still staying with your friend, Jordan. Youâre lucky, the fire had only gotten to a small part of your apartment, and most of your things were left untouched, but you still arenât allowed back in your apartment. You immediately told her all about the cute firefighter, of course, and she was almost as upset as you were that you didnât try to ask him out.Â
You canât help but think about him still; heâs the most attractive guy you think youâve ever seen, and heâs kind, and funny. Either way, you were way too nervous at the time, and he was on the job. Even if you didnât meet while he was working, you donât think you wouldâve said anything anyway. And he hadnât said anything either, so you try your best to forget about him.
Buck spends the next few weeks thinking about you too. He even tried a dating app or two, hoping your photo would pop up on his screen, but to no avail. He thinks about your pretty face often, but his mind also seems to wander to your soft curves, and how your thick thighs were on full display for him to take in in your shorts.
He finally agreed to go out with another girl he met on an app, deciding he should just move on rather than driving himself crazy. He knows he could ask Maddie to pull up the call log and he could get your number, but he knows that would be weird. And a little bit creepy.
Heâs sitting in a small bar close to his apartment, a small, absent-minded smile on his face as he stares across the table at his date. This is the longest date he thinks heâs ever had. It was very clear as soon as his date started talking that she has no interest in actually getting to know him, the first give away being that she chose the dimly lit dive bar. While he wouldnât necessarily say no to it, thatâs not really what heâs looking for anymore.Â
Heâs listening to a story of when she went on vacation to Colombia when he hears a soft laugh coming from the bar. His eyes trail over and see you standing there, talking to what he assumes is two of your friends.
His throat goes dry as he takes in your figure, studying your soft curves and slightly revealing outfit. He can hardly hear the woman across from him now, studying your every move and expression.
He tears his eyes away from you after a moment and refocuses on his date, not wanting to seem rude. He keeps his eye on you out of the corner of his eye, however, ready to run after you if you leave before his date ends.
He keeps listening to his date, who has barely let him get a word in, but he looks very clearly bored. He canât help it; he tries to reply every time she pauses, but his heart is pounding. He finally found you, and it was a complete coincidence. Like fate.
You donât notice Buck right away; youâre so wrapped up in your little girls night out to even look around the bar. Itâs not until your friend Jordan points to him, saying how hot he is, that your eyes finally land on him.
You canât help the smile that breaks onto your face, and your eyes are trained on him for a few seconds until Jordanâs voice finally breaks through your haze.
âWhat?â she asks with a small laugh, and her smile fades when she sees the way you look over at her with a dazed expression
âItâs him. The firefighter.â you tell her, biting your lip as you look back over at him.
âYou have to go talk to him. Before you lose him again.â Jordan tells you with a gasp as your other friend, Alyssa, asks what the hell you two are talking about.
Jordan explains to Alyssa while you think her words over. You donât think you have it in you to go over. Maybe if you were much more drunk than you are right now, but currently, you wouldnât be able to will your feet to move.Â
âHeâs on a date. I canât just interrupt them. And what would I even say?â you argue softly once sheâs finished explaining, looking over at Jordan. You chew the inside of your cheek nervously. The girl heâs with is gorgeous, and you begin to think that he was definitely just being so nice to you because he was working.
âLook at him. He looks so bored. He definitely doesnât want to be there. Go save him.â Alyssa chimes in after sheâs caught up, eyes glancing between you and him.
âOh, no. I couldnât.â you mumble, turning back to the bar and ordering a cocktail once you flag down the bartender.Â
âActually, weâll just get 4 shots.â Alyssa says, smirking as she looks at you sideways. âYou just need a shot or two in you, then youâve gotta get over there. Before itâs too late. Youâre gonna regret it if you donât.â she tells you once the bartender walks away to get the bottle.Â
You sigh, shaking your head. But before you can speak, the bartender puts the shots down on the table in front of you. Jordan immediately puts a shot in your hand and lifts it to your lips. You begrudgingly swallow it, letting in a sharp inhale as you feel it burning your throat.Â
Your friends then each grab a shot and throw them back, then Alyssa grabs the last shot and holds it out to you.
âCome on, you just need some courage.â she teases, and you roll your eyes again before you take the shot. You were planning on drinking tonight anyway, and whether or not youâre going to go up to him, you figure you might as well take the shots.Â
A little while later, you can feel the alcohol coursing through your veins. Youâve been swaying softly to the music as you talk to your friends, but your eyes never stray far from Buck. You always end up looking at each other at different times, so neither of you know that the other person knows of each other's presence.Â
âI think now is your chance. He looks ready to kill himself.â Jordan tells you over the music, and all three of you look over at Buckâs table. He has a smile on his face, but his eyes lack any real emotion.Â
You take a deep breath, and before you can even think, you let out a soft âokay.â Your friends smile widely, both taking turns to fix various parts of your appearance to make sure you look perfect. Jordan smooths down your top while Alyssa fixes your necklace, and then they both look up into your eyes.
âGo get him. Your ass looks great in those jeans, heâs gonna love it.â You feel your cheeks heating up at Alyssaâs words and you laugh softly. You can feel your hands shaking, but you quickly push your nerves aside and finally make your way over to him. He saved you once, and now itâs time for you to return the favour, although this situation is much lower stakes.Â
âOh my God, Buck! Hey!â you say once you reach his table, a large smile on your face. His eyes are on you in an instant, and he smiles widely, unable to stop his eyes trailing down to your cleavage peeking out of your top.
You open your arms, and he stands up quickly, wrapping his arms around your waist while you loop yours around his neck.Â
âDo you want help getting out of this date?â you whisper in his ear, and you smirk as you feel his slight nod against your skin. âFollow my lead.â
You pull back, barely even looking at his date as you continue to speak. Youâre glad he said yes, or else this would be really awkward.
âI havenât seen you in forever! How have you been?â You donât even give him the chance to reply before you turn to the girl.
âHow do you know my ex-boyfriend? Heâs a handful, Iâll tell you that. Good luck.â you tell her with a smirk. You turn back to Buck and look at him with as much desire in your eyes as you can muster, not that itâs hard, and he matches your expression immediately.Â
You know this will work; most girls donât want to have to deal with a guy thatâs still so close with their ex. You see the girlâs face fall slightly from the corner of your eye, and you look back to her, waiting for her answer.
âOh, um, we donât really know each other that well.â she replies with a small smile, and you can see the way she tenses slightly, starting to feel a little awkward.
âLucky you.â you tell her with a soft laugh, looking back up at Buck, whose arm has found its way around your waist. Even still, he keeps his hand hovering over your skin, just close enough for no one else to notice, not wanting to make you uncomfortable just in case you came over just to be nice.Â
âIâm sorry. I should let you get back to your date.â you tell her, an apologetic look on your face, although your eyes have no hint of remorse. âOh, and Buck, are you still coming over tomorrow night? My roommateâs going out of town.â you tell him, licking your lips. He nods, in a daze. He knows youâre not being serious, but he canât fight the images that his mind is creating.Â
âActually, itâs getting pretty late. I should probably go.â she mutters, standing up from the table and putting her purse over her shoulder. âIt was nice to meet you. Iâll text you.â she tells Buck softly, but all three of you know she doesnât really mean it.Â
Once sheâs out of sight, you turn to Buck, suddenly feeling your brain catching up to your actions. He senses your quick flip, and removes his arm from your waist, mumbling a quick âsorry.âÂ
âNo, youâre good. I just donât normally do stuff like this, and Iâm just now realizing that. Iâm sorry, maybe I had too much to drink.â you admit sheepishly, your face growing hot once again as you feel yourself rambling.
âNo, I appreciate it. Honestly, Iâve been thinking about you since we met. I was gonna ask you out, but I sort of have this rule that I donât date people I meet on the job.â he tells you, smiling down at you. He licks his lips as his eyes trace your face, studying it, memorizing it. Your eyes widen slightly in surprise. He wanted to ask you out? The thought makes your stomach flip in excitement, and it causes a new wave of confidence to flow through you.Â
âWell, youâre not working right now, right?â you tease him softly, a hopeful look on your face.Â
âYeah, I guess not. How about I buy you a drink?â he replies, his smile morphing to a smirk. You nod slowly, so focused on him that you donât even think about your friends watching you from across the bar.Â
You decide on something without alcohol instead once you get to the bar, not wanting to risk a hangover the next day. Your friends realize quickly that you arenât coming back to hang out with them, and theyâre happy for you. They keep an eye on you for an hour or so, but when they realize how into each other you are, they decide to leave.
You talk for hours, talking about anything and everything, until the bartender does final call, and you both realize how long youâve been talking.Â
âI guess I should get home.â you say with a sigh. Your cheeks hurt from laughing and smiling so much, and youâve drifted so close together over the last few hours that you donât even notice his leg has settled between yours as you sit on the bar stools. You wouldnât have to lean very far to connect your lips, you think to yourself.
âOr, you could come back to mine?â he asks with hope in his eyes. He knows he shouldnât be asking you this; he wants to take you on a proper date first, but with the way youâre looking at him, he canât stop the words that slip from his mouth. You bite your lip as you fight back a smile, but nod after a moment.
âOkay.â you murmur, and thatâs all it takes for him to grab your hand and drag you to his jeep, but not before slamming some cash on the bar counter. You laugh as he drags you outside, amused by his eagerness. Once he gets to his jeep he pushes you against it, meeting your lips in a passionate kiss.Â
A soft noise escapes the back of your throat as your back hits the door, but you happily kiss him back. Your arms make their way around his neck again and one hand lands in his hair, your fingers weaving through it. He keeps his hands on your hips, but heâs itching to touch you everywhere.Â
He pulls back after a moment and opens the door, his pupils blown and his jeans getting tighter. You smile up at him and then get into the jeep, watching him dreamily as he makes his way to the driverâs side.Â
He keeps his hand on your thigh the whole way home, rubbing your inner thigh with his thumb. He squeezes your flesh every now and then, smiling over at you each time, and once he pulls into his building parking lot, heâs quick to jump out of the car and jog over to your side.Â
He keeps his hands on you the entire way up to his apartment, trailing up your sides, and once you walk into his apartment, he pushes you against the wall and meets your lips again in a dizzying kiss.Â
He slides his tongue into your mouth, and both of your hands are clawing at each other, eager for more. His hands travel down to the back of your thighs, and he whispers âjumpâ against your lips. You hesitate for a moment, nervous about him lifting you up. He picks up on your hesitancy and pulls back for a moment with a smirk. He grabs the back of your thighs hard and lifts you up, pinning your back to the wall once again.
His lips are immediately back on you, kissing and nipping down your neck to your collarbone. Youâre so focused on his lips on you that you barely have time to react to his strength. Youâre not used to being lifted like this, and it makes desire pool between your legs.Â
He pulls back from your neck and pulls you off the wall, keeping his hands under your thighs as he moves to the stairs. You look over your shoulder at where heâs heading, and your arms tighten around his neck as you laugh softly. Your head is spinning as he walks up the stairs; he lifts you up so effortlessly, and you canât wait to see how else he puts his strength to use.Â
He throws you onto his bed, staring down at you as you sit up on your elbows, chest rising and falling rapidly as lust overtakes every sense. He smirks as he takes in your body sprawled out on his bed. He looks down your body, taking in your chest, and your plush belly, and your thick thighs, and he thinks heâs died and gone to heaven.
âGod, youâre gorgeous.â he mumbles before he grabs your ankles and pulls you towards the end of the bed, making you squeal softly.
The next morning, you wake up naked in a room you donât recognize, as you were too focused on Buck last night to notice anything around you. The events from last night flood your mind as you feel an arm firmly draped across your waist, and you canât help the smile that breaks onto your face.Â
You can hear his steady breathing from behind you, and you know heâs still asleep. Itâs probably early, you think, as the hint of light coming in from the bedroom window looks like the sun hasnât quite broken over the horizon.
You try to move his arm slowly, seeing his bathroom door connected to his bedroom. As you do, you feel his grip tighten, and he pulls you tighter against him.
âWhere do you think youâre going? I just found you again, Iâm not letting you go this soon.â he teases in a raspy voice, just barely above a whisper. You laugh softly and turn in his grip to face him, smiling as you take in his sleepy eyes and soft smile.
âIâm just going to the bathroom.â you whisper back, as if trying not to ruin the calmness surrounding you both. He groans, and finally releases you after a moment, but not before he leans in for a soft kiss. He turns to lay on his back, folding his arms behind his head to watch you walk to the bathroom. He smirks as his eyes observe your bare figure, licking his lips.
Once youâre done in the bathroom, you go back to bed, laying on your side beside him and resting your cheek on his chest. He grabs your thigh as you drape your leg across his hips, humming softly as he feels your soft skin.Â
âYou want some breakfast?â he asks after a little while, giving you both some time to wake up. You raise your head and rest your chin on his chest as you look up at him, nodding. He smiles as his eyes glance across your face, admiring the way the sun is hitting your face, having finally breached the horizon.Â
He then leans down to give you a soft kiss, his hand moving from your thigh to your cheek. Once he pulls away, you keep your eyes closed for a moment, reveling in his touch and warm gaze.
âWhat kind of breakfast?â you whisper once you open your eyes. He shrugs before he speaks, still trying not to disrupt the comfortable quiet surrounding you.
âAnything you want. Eggs, waffles. Iâm pretty skilled in the kitchen.â he teases, winking. You raise your eyebrows in surprise. How is he still single? Cute, kind, smart, and a good cook? You canât believe it.
âDo you have strawberries and blueberries?â you ask softly, smiling once he nods. âLetâs make waffles.âÂ
He nods at your words, sighing loudly and stretching before he sits up slowly. You move off of him and watch as he gets up and puts on some grey sweatpants, and your eyes wander down his body quickly, making him chuckle.Â
You get up and find your bra and panties on his floor, putting them on quickly. You debate on putting back on your jeans and top from last night, afraid Buckâs shirt wouldnât fit you in a cute oversized way, but you decide against it. Itâs too early for jeans, and with the way he was worshiping your body last night, you donât think heâd turn down the opportunity of watching you walking around his kitchen so exposed.
He pulls you into another kiss once youâre semi-dressed, his hands making their way to your cheeks. You smile against his lips, and bite your lip gently once you pull back, and he keeps his eyes closed for a moment.Â
âJump.â he whispers after a moment, and you oblige this time, letting him lift you in his arms. You wrap your legs around his waist as he makes his way to the stairs.
âYou really donât have to carry me everywhere, you know.â you say with a soft laugh. You turn your head to watch where heâs going, arms tightening around his neck instinctively as he reaches the stairs.
âNuh uh, come on. I saw your face last night. Donât lie, you love it.â he teases you, squeezing your thighs. You shake your head and your cheeks heat up in embarrassment as you realize that he noticed.Â
Once you get to the kitchen he sets you down on the counter, his hands lingering on your hips as he tries to memorize the sight of you, almost naked on his kitchen counter, your soft belly on full display for him. He backs away slowly as he takes one final look, then turns and starts grabbing ingredients from the pantry and fridge.Â
You notice heâs making waffles from scratch, and your heart swells at the thought of him putting in so much effort. You try to tell him you can help, but he cuts you off, insisting that all he wants you to do is to âsit there and look pretty,â which makes you giggle. You canât help feeling giddy around him; you feel like a lovesick teenager.
Once heâs finished with breakfast, you slide off the counter and make your way to the kitchen table. He brings the berries, the maple syrup, and some whipped cream over, and you both dig in.
He waits to see your reaction, and grins widely when he sees you moan softly in contentment, closing your eyes. You look over at him as he admires you, and you look down, smiling softly, not used to this kind of attention.Â
âCan I take you out?â he asks you halfway through breakfast. He chuckles softly as you look up at him with a raised brow, and he reaches up to wipe a bit of whipped cream off your upper lip.Â
âYou already took me out.â you reply softly, licking your lips after his thumb brushes over them.
âThat doesnât count, we just happened to be there at the same time. I want to take you out for real. A nice dinner, maybe a walk or something after, get some ice cream. What do you say?â he corrects you, giving you a wink. You smile, nodding as you mumble a soft âokay.âÂ
Once youâre finished with breakfast, he leads you to the couch and wraps a blanket around both of you. Youâre leaning against his chest and his arm is draped on the back of the couch behind you, which makes your stomach flip.
He turns on a movie, but youâre too busy talking and laughing with each other to really pay attention. As he looks down at your pretty face, his smile stays plastered to his face. Heâs so glad he agreed to that God awful date, and that you were willing to help him out of it, because now that he has you, he never wants to let you go.

itâs hard ⌠and i hate this part
pairing: logan sargeant x reader note: i really hope he has someone to lean on for comfort right now.
you got the call on the way home from work. you were in a good mood, skipping along as you listened to music while slowly nearing the building in which your apartment was located.
or well, you were in a good mood until you heard his voice.
logan was a calm person. so incredibly calm and controlled, good at keeping his feelings at bay, burrowing them behind a thick protective wall. but in that moment, as he told you the news, his voice was shaking with sobs. terrible, soul wrecking sobs, that crushed your heart in an indescribable way.
as you almost ran the last meters towards your home. your head was pounding, your heart was beating away at an unusually fast pace, and your entire body tingled as a lump formed in your throat, almost breaking down your calm exterior.
it took you a full minute to get the key to fit in the door, your hands shaking as you pushed the phone against your ear. you refused to hang up before he was within your reach.
you pushed open the door with a never before seen enthusiasm, completely neglecting to put away your things as you practically ran towards where you knew he would be.
and there, nestled in your cozy sofa, was your boyfriend. your boyfriend who had just received the news he had been fearing for so long. the news he knew were inevitable. the news he thought he would be able to avoid for at least a few months.
his eyes were red and puffy. there were no tears falling, but it was clear that a waterfall was close to brimming over again soon. he took one look at you and immediately held out his arms. you didnât hesitate for even a moment.
taking the last step towards him and taking him into your arms was all you longed to do. so you did exactly that, wrapping your arms around his frame as good as you could while he burrowed his face into your chest, inhaling the comforting scent of you.
you stood there for a moment, relishing in the feeling of each others company before logan broke the silence.
âiâm sorry,â he mumbled, almost inaudible, but you picked it up immediately.
âwhat?!â you pulled back to look at him, capturing his face between your hands when he woulnât meet your eyes. âbaby, why are you sorry? you have nothing to be sorry for.â
he didnât answer immediately, instead taking his bottom lip between his teeth as his teary eyes met yours in an eye contact so intimate that it was almost too much.
âlogan, my love.â your thump gently caressed his cheek as you started talking, your voice a soft, soothing balm to his inner turmoil. âi hope you know that you have absolutely nothing to be sorry for. youâre allowed to be upset. what the team has done to you is absolutely not fair. the race you drove in zandvoort was amazingâjust like so many of your other performances this season has been.
âthey gave you nothing to work with, and still, they expected you to achieve the unachievable. thatâs not fair. you have been so loyal to the teamâmore than they deserveâand still, they treat you like this. youâre not the one who should be sorry. williams are. please tell me you understand that.â
his eyes glazed over even further at your short speech, the emotions clear on his face as tears gathered in the corners of his eyes.
a lump was quickly forming in his throat, but this time, it didnât feel as all-consuming as when he was alone. his voice failed him when he tried to answer you, so instead, you only got a nod. but that was fine. that was enough.
and as he cuddled even closer to you, pulling you down on the couch with him so he could be completely wrapped up in your arms, you felt the weight on your chest lifting slightly too.
this whole ordeal would definitely leave some scars on loganâand on you as wellâand they might never heal completely, but you had each other. and youâll always have each other.
