“I want a divorce.”

The silence after you utter those words pierces through your mind, making you second guess your comment. You don’t want to repeat them, afraid the next time you say the words, you won’t even mean it. Kento simply continues driving, pretending like you never spoke. Anxiety blooms in your chest, so tightening you almost feel as though you can’t breathe.

Once you reach your apartment building and get on the elevator, you give into your nerves.

“Kento,” you call.

He looks up from his phone. “Hm?”

You push back the tears that are so desperate to come out of your eyes. “You heard me.” Your voice is barely a whisper. The elevator rings and he steps out into your penthouse. 

“Kento!” you finally shout.

He turns around with a stern expression masking his face. “What?”

“Please.”

“You’re being ridiculous. There’s no need for you to say something like that.”

Letting out an exasperated scoff, you hear your voice break as you speak. “You cannot possibly be saying that, Kento, when you damn fucking well know we haven’t even talked in ages.”

“Yes, we have,” he claims calmly.

“No, Kento, we haven’t. And see this is the issue– you don’t even realise we may be drifting apart.”

“We aren’t drifting apart.”

“Stop invalidating me like that!” you snap. “You think you’re so mature and you know every fucking thing when in reality you’ve grown emotionally unavailable. You only talk about work, we never go out on dates, and when was the last time you kissed me Kento?”

His demeanour shifts slightly, which makes you wonder if he realises his faults.

“We are both busy, my love.”

“Too busy to even see each other?”

He sighs. “You’re right. I have been neglecting you.” He comes forwards and touches your arms. “How about you give me a chance? Let me take you out on a date tomorrow.”

You look into his eyes, the same ones you fell in love with so many years ago, the ones that feel like an ocean you can happily drown in. He pulls you into a hug and you melt, his arms both your greatest kryptonite and strongest warrior. How could you ever leave him?

“I’m sorry, my love,” he says, his voice as soft as ever. “I’ll make it right, I promise. Be ready at 7pm tomorrow, okay?”

The next day rolls in in a matter of moments. As Kento sits behind his desk at his office with his thoughts laminated with guilt, his mind replays the moments you said you wanted a divorce. He had felt his life flash before his eyes, like someone ripped his heart apart from his ribcage. Had he been so blinded by ambition and competence that he forgot to consider the feelings of the reason he breathes?

“Sir?” the voice of his assistant breaks him away from his thoughts.

“Yes?”

“The clients are here, the meeting can start now.”

Hours pass in the meeting, but eventually, the deal is finalized. Kento returns to his cabin and relaxes into his chair, satisfied with himself. Stretching out his arms, he finally peeks into his phone that seems to be flooded with notifications from you. Why would you send him so many–

He checks the time. It’s 9:42 PM. The meeting had taken longer than it should have. But worst of all, he had forgotten about the plans with you. With shaking hands, he sprints out of his office, maniacally driving to your place.

He stumbles out of the elevator. “Y/N,” he calls out. “I’m so sorry for being late, my love, I was occupied with very important clients.” He goes up to your bedroom and opens the door, expecting to find you there.

“Y/N?” he calls out again when he doesn’t. His heart almost leaps out of his chest as he hysterically moves around the house, shouting out your name and calling your phone. All to only be responded with nothing.

Ficlet-In The Bath

Blitz squeezes the sponge over his back feathers, getting them nice and sudsy. He wouldn't admit it out loud right now but it does feel nice, warm, and comforting.

Blitz pulls him out of the water by his shoulder and looks at him nervously, "Woah there uh, try not to inhale the water", he leaves a moment then before his body can fall back down he pokes his head back in a moment, "Yeah try not to inhale the water". He'll try. He was supposed to die. None of this was supposed to continue. Now he has no direction. No...power or title. Not that he really cared about that anyway.

He's back with Blitz and...he's angry. Angry they hadn't talked in a month. Angry he loves this idiot imp so much that he threw his whole life away, and now he has to live with it. And he's so fucking tired. Is this how normal people feel? This tired, all the time?

His hands shake as Blitz takes his hand and helps him out of the bathtub. Blitz takes the shirt and is about to help him get dressed when he puts up a hand, "I can. Thank you". He hands him the shirt and just stands there.

"Could I have some privacy?" Stolas asks, and a large blush spreads across his cheeks, "Right. Right. Sorry, I'll just uh, be out here then we'll get you settled in", Blitz replies and backs out, closing the door.

He looks at himself in the mirror, wet hair feathers tossled and a semi permanent scowl on his face at the moment. He tries to smile to no avail. Again, he was supposed to die.

"You were supposed to die!" He yells at himself in the mirror, pointing to it. Blitz, listening from outside, widens his eyes and pulls a pillow closer to him as he looks at the notifs on his phone.

Stolas cries. No, he sobs. For about an hour. Hearing the fireworks in the distant that are for Blitz. His triumph against his "aggressor". Stolas grits his teeth then sighs, pulling on the lounge clothes from loona and taking some deep breaths. The breathes become faster and he holds his chest.

Blitz calls back from the living room, "You okay in there?"

Stolas clenches at his chest feathers and tries to steady the breathing, "Yes" he manages to weakly reply. Blitz leaves him alone.

He's so tired. Sleep. He needs sleep. His hand turned the bathroom knob on autopilot and he steps out, shoulders slumped. Blitz takes his hands in his and leads him to the couch, and he collapses. Putting a blanket over him.

"Thank you, Blitz..." He whispers slowly.

Blitz looks pained but Stolas doesn't have the energy to discern why right now. He's tired of reading people.

"Thank you, Stolas for...saving my life", Blitz replies and Stolas's eyes start to drift.

Though I would argue that even with his ulterior motives, Tsukasa’s feelings of curiosity over people’s hearts, emotions and desires, and his joy when people embrace said desires or go through some sort of self-discovery/breakthrough when it comes to understanding themselves… re-reading now, it feels very genuine, a mixture between Tsukasa's child-like curiosity and the Red House Entity's existence rooted in granting wishes.

...But regardless of sincerity and intent of the above, this...

Has Tsukasa treating Mitsuba much softer than he usually does- heck, even softer than Kou treated Mitsuba this chapter (...and, how he treats him in general, if I'm honest). He brings Mitsuba what he needs to eat, points out where the heart is, but doesn't force it on him; he’s quite patient too.

There's something... so sudued about this scene, Tsukasa really cradles Mitsuba's head very delicately... with such a serene, but serious expression... but it’s not meant to… shame Mitsuba, or anything like that. It sorta feels like… ‘I’m not hungry’ ‘you look hungry’, kind of exchange, or even, ‘I’m not happy’, ‘you’re smiling tho’. It really feels as if it’s only meant to be an honest observation.

Sure, it sounds crude when he points it out like that, but, like you said, Tsukasa is brutally honest. Whether that's good or not for Mitsuba's mental state, who knows...

But, yeah, Tsukasa's being oddly wholesome here, the strangest nice boy in the whole series lol.

Actually, I'd argue that's on purpose, a direct contrast to Kou's behavior this chapter.

See, this chapter made it quite clear what I've thought for a while, that Kou's is deeply jealous of Tsukasa- of his relationship with Mitsuba, specifically!! He... almost subconsciously regards Tsukasa as if he were a love rival lol; 'why are you always going to him', 'why do you rely/trust him more than me', and such. He was like this in the PP arc too.

So Tsukasa being comparativately soft and nice, the one who gets to be relied on, by Mistuba, is not only fuel to Kou's insecurities and jealousy , but also almost a confirmation that Kou's perspective on the Tsukasa + Mitsuba dynamic (which he sees as stupid, helpless Mitsuba being tricked/abused/forced into doing anything by evil, heartless Tsukasa) is heavily biased by Kou's own issues (again, mainly his jealousy and inferiority complex).

Of course, Mitsuba makes decisions again and again when it comes to his relationship with Tsukasa, who himself, does seem to make an effort to be a friend. in his own way.

TLDR: Kou is just throwing a jealous tamtrum for most of the chapter, lol
