What is your favorite piece of art you have created?
That's such a hard question to answer, I've drawn so many pieces that I love so I'll actually give you three. First:
This little lady from 2018. She might not seem like much and you probably can't tell from how my art looks now, but I really give all the credit of my current art style to her. She was the beginning of me finding myself as an artist and, although she's a bit old, I still love her. Next:
This boy from nearly a year ago. This was probably the first time I was able to draw such a dynamic pose without reference. It didn't do very well on here numbers-wise, but it really just showed me how far I've come from solely drawing portraits (looking at it now, it's got so much sticker quality tbh). As for the final piece, this one takes the cake for me:
I absolutely love the way this one turned out. I know it's just a screenshot redraw, but it gave me the chance to just let loose and have fun. I didn't have to focus on toiling away at poses and angles and everything else and simply took what the show gave me and went wild. It's a representation of why I draw: to explore my passion and evolve with it.
Each of these have things in them that I might change if I drew them now, but they all show something about my life as an artist. It's hard to explain what they mean exactly, but each piece I draw is another stepping stone to where I'm going!

Hi, I've finished the Illiad and Odyssey not so long ago, and I'm a little bit confused.
In those texts, characters or narrator sometimes refer to Zeus as "the oldest of gods." I've read these on my native language, so I decided there was some translation problem, but then I've came across couple of English posts also talking about Zeus as the oldest and yes, I understand that posts people write aren't the best source of information but along with what I've read in the poems it made me doubting.
So, are there some versions of the myths where Zeus is the oldest? Or is it simply a translation or interpretation problem, like "the oldest" in the meaning "the strongest/wisest/greatest/etc"?
I will be very thankful for the explanation because somehow, this made me so confused.
No problem! Although Zeus is almost always presented as the youngest son from Hesiod onwards, he is in fact described as the oldest in the Iliad. For example, when he sends Iris with a message to Poseidon:
"I came here bearing a message for you, dark-haired holder of the earth, from Zeus who wields the aegis. He commands you to desist from war and battle and to go among the tribe of gods, or into the bright salt sea. And if you do not obey his words, but ignore them, he threatens that he too will come here to do battle, face-to-face; and he bids you avoid his hands, since he says he is more powerful by far than you in strength and in birth is elder." (Il. 15. 174-182)
One could suspect Zeus is bending the truth or being metaphorical in claiming primogeniture (considering the other more popular tradition) but the Iliad states it as a literal fact, as evidenced by Iris' response to Poseidon when he says that Zeus can snorkel his dongle:
"Is it in this way then, dark-haired holder of the earth, I should bear this harsh and powerful word to Zeus, or will you change your mind at all? The minds of the great are yielding. And you know the Furies always attend the elder born." (Il. 15. 201-204)
Meaning if conflict were to arise the Furies would side with Zeus because he the is older sibling. Hera is likewise here the eldest of the goddesses, and there's no reason to suppose it's not meant literally.
Curiously, quite the opposite interaction occurs in the Odyssey. If in the Iliad Poseidon has to give way to Zeus' bullying because Zeus is the eldest, in the Odyssey it is Zeus who, though still supreme king, gives way to Poseidon because here Poseidon is the eldest:
"Then in turn Zeus who gathers the clouds made answer: ‘What a thing to have said, Earthshaker of the wide strength. The gods do not hold you in dishonor. It would be a hard thing if we were to put any slight on the eldest and best among us. But if there is any man who, giving way to the violence and force in him, slights you, it will be yours to punish him. Now and always. Do as you will and as it pleases you.’" (Od. 13. 139-145)
Ancient authors were not unaware of the contradiction, and there seem to have been attempts to reconcile both traditions, like in the Homeric Hymn to Aphrodite, where it's said of Hestia:
"She was the first-born child of wily Kronos and youngest too, by the will of Zeus who holds the aegis." (Hom. Hymn. 5. 22-23)
No further explanation is given, but it's widely assumed that this is a reference to Kronos disgorging his children in the reverse order in which he swallowed them, ie. rock first and Hestia last (Hes. Th. 500 and Apollod. 1.2.1). The imagery of Kronos "rebirthing" his kids from his throat is... explicitly, used by Nonnos in the Dionysiaca when describing the scene:
"How he [Kronos] opened a gaping throat to receive a stony son, when he made a meal of the counterfeit body of a pretended Zeus; how the stone played midwife to the brood of imprisoned children, and shot out the burden of the parturient gullet" (Book 12. 43)
[Describing a shield that depicts Kronos swallowing the stone] "There he was again in heavy labour, with the stone inside him, bringing up all those children squeezed together and disgorging the burden from his pregnant throat." (Book 25. 553)
"And these dwelt in the city of Beroe, that primordial seat which Kronos himself built, at that time when, invited by clever Rhea, he set that jagged supper before his voracious throat, and having the heavy weight of that stone within him to play the deliverer's part, he shot out the whole generation of his tormented children. Gaping wide, he sucked up the storming flood of a whole river, and swallowed it in his bubbling chest to ease his pangs, then threw of the burden of his belly; so one after another his pregnant throat pushed up and disgorged his twiceborn sons through the delivering channel of his gullet." (Book 41. 65)
Hope I could be of help! And that Nonnos hasn't traumatised anyone too much.

heyo fam i wish i had the courage to ask off anon BUT anyway. How do you get so fast at art other than the fact that you'll die if you spend more than 10 mins?
hellooooo
i dont know tbh, and to be fair my art is like. super sketchy and unrendered and full of lines that dont need to be there lmao
i've just drawn a lot all my life as a form of escapism ig and depending on the season i'll draw more to escape and less to learn or do something 'pretty'. rn im also not doing much of anything else at the moment so i got a lot of time in my hands to just draw and draw
but i think the answer is the same as always, just lots of practice. there's also stuff i draw way faster than other stuff, like smug cartoony faces pfrt cause theres a structure i have memorized and can warp and modify depending on whati need at the moment. i think the best thing u can do is find something that motivates u and draw it a lot cause believe it or not it helps A LOT to loosen ur lines and learn stuff as u go while fully motivated even if it's the same subject. sometimes ill try to jump straight into a full body sketch and it will just not work. if i warm up for an hour or so just drawing busts while listening to music ill suddenly find myself in the zone and i'll be able to get the full body drawing done much easier
i have lost all practice but i rmmbr learning to better draw layered clothes and learning to organize comic pages and studying how to draw robot like shit just because i loved timothy lawrence and wanted to draw a lot of stuff of him and my oc together. it evolved the way i understood faces and still hold that knowledge to this day
hopefully any of this works out for u. also look at other artists' work for inspiration and motivation, never to compare urself! i miss the days i went to art classes cause wow THAT was absolutely motivating. the feedback and fun you can have just drawing stuff with and for other people can also help u see ur art in a much brighter light. makes it fun to learn and evolve

I've seen the boyfriend comics around but never actually looked into it. Genuine question, what crimes did the boyfriends commit to deserve such (admittedly funny) slander?
Tw: Fetishizing, Sexualizing
Ok I’m not going to blame you for anything considering I think you’re not like fully aware- so don’t feel bad. (Especially since you haven’t really read it at all-)
I died when I tried to read like 3 episodes
So basically the Boyfriends webtoon has fallen into the Fujoshi-like category.
Now if you don’t know what a Fujoshi is- it’s a Japanese media term for someone who likes reading/writing/making art of comics/anime of male gay ships in a fetishizing way.
At first back in idk- some time ago- BL/Fujoshi comics were made to show the “beauty” of forbidden love (by historical standards). But that original meaning has been replaced with more sexual/just not quite socially acceptable expressions of gay male couple comics/media.
Now we have that background info through:
Boyfriends has shown MANY controversial moments within the comic.
Like supposedly at the beginning it was kinda normal- but quickly it had turned into constant sexual moments between the men and weird…terms and romance moments.
(Like- how the “Nerd” is wearing really tight clothing and trying to basically to entice the other boyfriends into sexual activities in a weird way)
Also- idk if this is in the same comic, but there’s a Girlfriends one too- made by the same artist. And at one point one of the members of the relationship sexualized nuns and religious roles.
OHO AND I HAVE MORE DIRT ON THIS ARTIST-
So I’m guessing at least some of you know the K-pop group called BTS- well- that artist had made a comic(s..?) of not only sexualizing but fetishizing the two youngest members in a ship comic-
So yeah not only the Boyfriends comic is problematic but the artist as a whole.

Y'all I know that when so-called AI generates ridiculous results it's hilarious and I find it as funny as the next guy but I NEED y'all to remember that every single time an AI answer is generated it uses 5x as much energy as a conventional websearch and burns through 10 ml of water. FOR EVERY ANSWER. Each big llm is equal to 300,000 kiligrams of carbon dioxide emissions.
LLMs are killing the environment, and when we generate answers for the lolz we're still contributing to it.
Stop using it. Stop using it for a.n.y.t.h.i.n.g. We need to kill it.
Sources:
#unforth rambles#fuck ai#llms#sorry but i think this every time I see a reblog with more haha funny answers#how many tries did it take to generate the absurd#how many resources got wasted just to prove what we already know - that these tools are a joke#please stop contributing to this

ppl dont talk about the fact that even Daisuke's characterization is affected by Jimmy's unreliable perspective. He refers to Daisuke as a spoiled rich kid who has his mommy and daddy behind him, that he's impressionable and stupid, and i do see people kinda characterizing him like that
like he has these rich parents who will dote on him and give him everything, that he's an airhead who isn't good at anything...
yet in curly's perspective we see that he's good at board games, he's trying his best, he's trying to listen to swansea and learn from him. He did get the internship from his parents but not because he wanted to, but because his parents thought he wasn't going anywhere in life, that he needed to be doing something. Daisuke is silly and a positive person but that's just for show, we see in the scene where Jimmy finds him lying on the floor drunk on mouthwash, that Daisuke isn't doing well, he's scared and feels sad about his parents. He makes jokes to cope with the horrible tension on the ship.
people characterize him as a stupid little kid too much for my liking, that's how Jimmy sees him. As a spoiled brat who came on the ship just to be an inconvenience. Even Swansea didn't see him like that, sure he complained about him but in Daisuke's final moments we see Swansea's true colors and how much he actually cares for him. He's an adult, who's putting on this happy go-lucky persona because he truly wants to succeed in life, and he's doing the internship for his mom and dad even though he doesn't want to. So he makes friends, he tries his best, he wants to be on the good side of everyone on the ship.
Jimmy just saw him as an easy target, someone too trusting and easily manipulated. A stupid kid he can use to get what he wants. He even plays with Daisuke's feelings of needing validation from Swansea, someone he looks up to. He tells Daisuke that by going in the vent, he'd make Swansea proud.
Daisuke isn't someone who has it easy or someone who's a stupid airhead. Jimmy just saw kindness and positivity as weakness.
#sorry if this doesn't make any sense...i just needed to get my thoughts abt daisuke out of my head#fuck you jimmy#mouthwashing#mouth washing#wrong organ#daisuke#daisuke mouthwashing#mouthwashing daisuke#jimmy mouthwashing#swansea mouthwashing#swansea#riv rambling

On of the less intuitive things about love, I've found, of any kind, is the importance of needing things.
I didn't realize it until recently, but I've always seen love as something requiring sacrifice, selflessness, patience, and generosity- to ask for nothing is to be the best person I can be, small and quiet and never in the way, always happy and helpful, self-sufficient and present when desired.
It's only as an adult, now, that I'm beginning to see the selfishness of wanting nothing.
I cut my friend's hair in my kitchen the other day. They wanted a trim and I had the skills, so I offered, and was genuinely excited when they stopped hesitating over "bothering me" and took me up on it. It was a peaceful afternoon, and we had tea and chatted for an hour or more.
My brother and I shared popcorn at the movies a while ago. When I came time to pay, I pulled my card out like a wild western sheriff and slapped it on the machine before he could fight me for it first. The satisfaction was delightful.
Someone called me crying on the phone the other day. Kept apologizing for disturbing me at work, talking about how they were bothering me on my lunch break. I was telling the truth when I told them that really, I was flattered and honored and relieved, knowing that if they were hurting I would know, that I didn't have to worry in silence. It felt good to hear them slowly come down, and to know that they knew it would be better soon, and to hear them laugh wetly on the other end. We're getting together for a visit next week.
It's hard to need things, if you've trained yourself not to. It's hard to want things, when you don't know how to want anymore. Trusting people is difficult, and so is relying on them, but I don't know where I'd be without the people who rely on me.
I've heard a lot of people say, "Nobody will love you unless you love yourself". I've had a lot of thoughts about it. It's not right, but it's not wrong, either, I think.
"Nobody will love you unless you love yourself"... I've always taken that to mean, "You will not be lovable until you develop a positive view of yourself as a person".
Now, I think it's sort of inside-out.
"Nobody will love you unless you love yourself"... because nobody can show their love to you in a way that you can accept until you treat yourself kindly, and learn what you need, and what you want, and how to ask for it, and then give that vulnerability away.
Love, for me, is someone I ask for a ride to the airport. Whether they end up doing this or not is irrelevant.
It's not needy, or selfish, or taking up energy. It's giving the gift of being wanted, and needed, and thought of. It's giving someone the security of being part of someone's life.

the vast majority of fanworks are bad, and that's fine, actually. they are bad for the same reason that the average number of legs for a human person to have is less than two: statistics. like with all endeavours and especially creative ones, most people who write fanfiction or draw art of their favourite characters are bad at it. if you line up all the crochet projects in the world, most of them will be, well, bad. some are bad because they're the first thing a person ever made, or the second or third or tenth, and this kind of thing takes practice. others are bad because the person who made them is just not very good at it. maybe they just learned how to make granny squares and they're perfectly happy to never expand or improve on that. most people who dance or bake or garden or braid hair are not amazing at it! and you'd never go to your kid's dance recital or eat your friend's homemade carrot cake and expect the same experience as you'd have at a professional ballet performance or award-winning bakery. And that's if we assume there is an objective measure of Good Art, which there isn't! Some art is just "bad" because you don't like it!
I think though that specifically with fanfiction, we sometimes forget that when we read a book or watch a movie, dozens of people have looked at it and given feedback and made changes and done quality control before the final product reaches our shelves or screens, and that's not counting the original writer's learning process and past experience. A published book is not anyone's first crochet project, even if it is their debut novel. But with fanfiction, the barrier to entry is so low (on purpose! this is a good thing!) that we do get to see a lot of wonky granny squares, and on sites like AO3 they're sitting on the same shelf as the hand-made silk lace wedding dress and you can't always tell just by looking at it which is which. The consequence of this is that we encounter fic that we think is unpolished, has bad punctuation, is out of character, and we are tempted to think "well, this is awful! how dare this person put this wonky granny square on the same shelf as the lace wedding dress!" But that's not how fandom is supposed to work! That wonky granny square is somebody who is really excited about this TV show they just watched and they are reaching out into the void to share their excitement with you. To scoff at them for not making a lace wedding dress is really, really rude. Even if they did make a lace wedding dress, maybe it's just really not your style, or you think they should have used a different pattern, and it's still their wedding dress. You don't have to wear the dress and you don't have to read the fic.
We all know that there is some fanfic out there that is incredible. I think it's important to talk about that! But the vast majority of people who post their writing online are just sharing their little hobby projects that they make for fun and I also think it's important to remember that.

this is actually how one version of last names started. There are around 4 types of surnames, Patronymic, Occupational, Toponymic and Descriptive. Descriptive is pretty obvious, the origins of the last name would be the a description of the original person, for example 'Little' or 'Swift' Toponymic are location related last names, as in, last names related to the original place the original person is from, for example 'London' or 'Brook' (Cole 'Brookstone') Occupational is again obvious, the last name comes from the Original person's occupation, for example 'Smith' or 'Baker' which is why these last names are so common. (Jay 'Walker', Kai 'Smith'', Nya 'Smith') And lastly the kinds of last names you were talking about Patronymic, which is just the original person's father's first name. Which makes Lloyd's name technically Lloyd son of Garmadon, but thats annoying and long, so Lloyd Garmadon.
Dont know if this is canon, but I like to imagine Wu and Garmadon don't have last names. And thats their only name. Just Wu and Garmadon.
Then, when Lloyd was born, he was given the last name of Garmadon because why not and thats badass as hell.
But, because of that, everyone got confused and thought Garmadon's last name is Garmadon, but nobody knew his first name. But his wife calls him Garmadon, his brother calls him Garmadon.
Maybe, in another universe, in another world, this becomes tradition. For a son to carry his father's name as his last name. Kai Ray, Jay Ed, Cole Lou. Stupid ass names, but it's fun to think about.
In conclusion, it makes perfect sense why Morro's last name is Wu.
Anyways. I don't think I'm making much sense lmao.

I fuck hard with Asexual Venom, but the idea of Venom, an alien whose species doesn't breed sexually and don't have concepts of sex, being sexually attracted to some boring sad and sweaty white guy he picked up on the streets is just so funny to me
#yall seem to ignore how V is the true monster fucker here#his entire species breeds asexually and the idea of wanting to bond with your host is so absurd to them#and also just how biologically different humans are from symbiotes#like at least Venom turns somewhat hummanoid so Eddie being attracted to him isnt entirely off#but Venom's species by itself is just a blob#im sorry but Venom being the true monster fucker in their relationship is so wildely ignored and i need people to talk about it more#(not saying Eddie isnt a monster fucker he totally is)#venom#venom symbiote#symbrock#eddie brock#tags#talking#rambling#im going to hell#asexual

There's not a single thing you could say to convince me that Bruce and Tim are gothamites. Look at this fucking map
Bristol is so far removed from the heart of Gotham that there's quite literally no way it shares many, if any, cultural traits with Gotham. That's not even counting the insane wealth disparity that makes the ways of life (and therefore culture and habits and dialects and food) completely incomparable. Tim and Bruce aren't gothamites, they're Bristol brats, and I fully believe nobody in Gotham would accept them calling themselves gothamites. Especially with the size of the Wayne Estate.
Edit bc a lot of you are reblogging this base post instead of the additions in the notes: Turns out I am a victim of fanon and Tim only moved to Bristol after Bruce took him in. Tim can call himself a gothamite. Bruce cannot
