i am currently catching up on neon void, and it is a delight to read. your descriptions of leo’s mind is mesmerizing and grabs the reader’s attention so well. it’s very diverse and unique compared to other interpretations and fics♥️

i’m curious to know what your thinking process was like while writing leo’s insanity and his own thought processes.

(spoilers for ch11) the scene that stuck out to me the most was when leo was about to infect donnie. it felt so vulnerable and raw ahh

tbh i sat on this one for a while to think of how to dive into it-- beware of my (VERY) long ramblings below!

this question really got me Thinkin' and i kinda popped off but!! If i may indulge myself, here's sort of a wild explanation of how i approach Leo's Insane Brain for this specific fic:

does it meet R.I.S.E???

R - Realistic? I - Interesting? S - Silly? E - Existential?

R - Realistic

"How the hell do i make this sound realistic" is often an obstacle i run into. but it's also the Secret Sauce. What really gives the thought process direction. Given Leo's current situation, he's battling between what he wants and what he needs to do. Which is often a very real problem real people have. Exaggerating it helps create a fun back-and-forth dialog that can make his thoughts seem muddled.

With Leo in this fic’s setup, there are about five main key factors i rely on with his decision making:

Happiness The root of Leo’s general personification. He’s the guy who beat Krang One. The one who escaped a place worse than Hell. After years of missing home so much he’s FINALLY home. He’s drunk on happiness. He was finally home. And that relief and joy is what makes him so jubilant and goofy.

Awareness of his goal Though Rise Leo is a very funny dude, he's still a Leonardo. Throughout the series, Leo is the voice of reason when things are getting out of hand or are potentially dangerous. Leo's had nothing but time to think. Wishing what he'd done different. Wishing he had been more serious. After five years obsessing over his mistake and missing his family, the moment he see's the opportunity to make sure this never happens again he'll latch onto it. And when the stakes are high, accentuating that tension can help with frantic impact of his thinking.

His desire to see his family This desire often clashes with point number 2. Writing his internal struggle between the two helps with the “overwhelmed thoughts” vibe. It’s hard for him to choose! And he doesn’t wanna have to choose! Playing out the conflict between his 'want' vs his 'need to do' helps me bring out his nervous thinking process.

He's self-reprimanding thoughts We all love an Angsty Leo. It was hinted in the show that he had some self-esteem issues, but who doesn't love ramping it up to 11 for a fic??? That, and he was trapped with Krang this whole time. After hearing he was nothing but trash for five years PLUS the guilt of nearly ending the world, the guy doesn't exactly see himself in a great light you know? This can help clash with point 1, again helping with that 'what he wants' vs 'what he needs to do' inner conflict.

Instinct to Survive / Feral Tendencies This one is super fun. I love feral AUs/tropes. With little to no socialization in the Prison Dimension, Leo's sanity started to slip, leaving his body's natural instincts to become more profound. Plus, with the Krang Parasite, I like to exaggerate how feral/dangerous he could be outside of 'turtle' instincts. (Seeing that parasite hosts in the movie were very violent). Sprinkling in feral moments is just a delicious thrill I love adding, and it makes the insanity factor skyrocket and it's so fun to write 🩵🩵🩵

I - Interesting

Is Leo's thought process interesting to read??? Honestly, I just gun for what I think is the most interesting; Leo's relationship with his brothers (especially Raph), and the cause and effects of his shenanigans.

Also, I liked to experiment with wonky texts to help emphasize key moments or words to grab attention. Mostly because it feels like a fun surprise to read them in my opinion. Though not necessary in writing, I thought using some funky fonts might entice and excite 💙

S- Silly

THE BIG ONE!!! EVERYONE'S FAVORITE!!! 🎉🎊🥳🎉 Something I really love love love about Rise's style is that it's silly It's unique! It's fun! I love that Leo and the others are goofy and have some slap-stick moments. And I wanted to keep that with Leo despite everything. Plus, I ADORE that in this iteration of TMNT, the characters are such showmen. They are DRAMATIC. They are SILLY. And that's something I wanna celebrate!! Plus, as much as I love angst, writing nothing but pure angst is exhausting. (And I'm sure reading pure angst isn't enjoyably to everyone.) Throwing in Silly moments is like a little moment of refreshment to me 🩵

I also like to believe that Leo kept his sense of humor out of sheer SPITE. The 'wipe that stupid grin off your face' line in the movie really stuck with me. I feel like Leo would smile through his fear and still be a clown just to spite Krang One.

E - Existential

At the end of the day, Leo is dealing with a VERY big issue. I felt like the Rise movie did an excellent job portraying the severity of an alien invasion for the setting Rise had. And the weight of the situation would be too great for one person. And this is often what I refer back to to make Leo snap. A relapse in clarity of mind. A moment for the panic and PTSD to come back in full force and make him rely on his instincts. Usually the feral instincts he became more attuned with while fleeing/fighting Krang One. It also goes hand-in-hand with his awareness of his goal (as mentioned in 'Realistic' above).

And that's kinda a word-vomit of how it goes!! Honestly??? The tug-o-war between conflicting thoughts helps me write the madness in his head. It's been super fun and interesting, and I hope it's been fun to read!!! (Though I'm telling you now I will NOT be doing those floating text tables again OOF)

donghyuck twirled his pencil between his fingers. his eyes kept darting from the classroom's door back to his desk. his leg bounced in place nervously, the heel of his foot tapping the ground beneath him in an unsteady rhythm.

his heart jumped in his chest when he finally saw y/n arrive. the other was his usual quiet self as he made his way to his desk in the back - the opposite of donghyuck's in the front.

hyuck's eyes widened in realization after a moment. y/n was wearing the jacket he'd given him. with blooming red cheeks, he quickly met y/n's gaze and smiled at him. donghyuck was oblivious at himself, but to anyone else, he was painfully smitten.

they both quickly resumed their natural positions at their desks when their teacher finally came in. as the class went by, donghyuck gave up on making the effort to be interested in whatever formulas their teacher was going over. how could he when y/n was in the same room?

hyuck shifted in his seat and slowly stretched his arms out, only to turn his head and look for y/n in the back of the class. y/n found him adorable. he smiled and shook his head at donghyuck's antics before pointing at their teacher and mouthing a 'pay attention!'. a pout arose on donghyuck's face. he turned back around as he was told.

once the class finally ended, donghyuck took his time packing his things up. the classroom emptied out quickly as usual, which meant the seat beside y/n was free. hyuck got up and skipped over to him, no care for his bag that dragged helplessly behind him.

y/n was zipping up his own backpack when the male sat down with him. he shook his head again at how much effort donghyuck was putting in today.

"you just love looking at me don't you?" y/n teased. donghyuck's smile faltered for just a second.

"i mean.. yeah," he admitted. "you're nice to look at." hyuck blushed at the words that left his own mouth, but cleared his throat and tried to move on from the subject. "so how was the rest of your night last night?"

y/n shrugged and sat back. "uneventful."

"because i wasn't there right?" donghyuck asked proudly. y/n scoffed.

"yeah, that's exactly why," he joked.

donghyuck grinned. "..so i see you're wearing my jacket today."

y/n felt his heartbeat pick up. he looked down at the jacket nervously. "oh.. yeah it was a little cold this morning."

donghyuck's smile fell when y/n started to take it off. he gently took his wrist without thinking, stopping him.

"no, don't," hyuck said softly, "i like when you wear it."

y/n couldn't help but smile. he looked down at donghyuck's hand that was now wrapped around his wrist, the jacket's fabric the only thing between their skin. donghyuck quickly let go with a small 'sorry', but y/n shook his head at the apology and began to make his way out of their classroom in efforts to hide his flustered state. however, donghyuck quickly followed behind him.

"ohh, are you blushing??" hyuck teased happily.

y/n felt like he'd been rolling his eyes a lot more lately since getting to know his so-called rival. he sighed and raised his hood over his head, tightening the drawstrings as if forming a little cave for his face.

donghyuck followed y/n to his locker, continuing to tease him affectionately. y/n huffed as he shoved the hood off and began entering his locker combination. hyuck stopped at the sight. y/n's hair was messy now, but still perfect. his cheeks showed a faint blush and the tiny grin that tugged on his lips was too sweet to look away from. donghyuck was in awe.

y/n looked over at him, confused as to what suddenly shut him up. donghyuck blinked, both of them now locking eyes. y/n cleared his throat after a second and looked away. whatever this was, was giving him chills.

"hey, um," y/n began, "i'm going to the library after school to study for the test we have coming up. wanna come?"

donghyuck instantly perked up at the invitation, nodding happily.

"cool, then i'll see you in a little bit." y/n bid him goodbye as he finally closed his locker. donghyuck nodded, both going their separate ways for their classes.

"what the hell is with you?"

donghyuck's eyes went wide. he looked up from his notebook to see his friends all staring at him.

"what?" he asked.

"you're doodling.. you never doodle," jaemin pointed out. donghyuck looked down at his notebook. sure enough, there were some small doodles next to his math work.

"oh.. sorry, i'm a little distracted, i guess."

"you guess," renjun mocked.

donghyuck looked around the courtyard awkwardly. he and his friends always came for study period, but today, donghyuck's head was in an entirely different place.

"are you nervous for the test or something?" jeno asked.

"no, not really."

"oh okay. well, are you still trying to beat y/n's score?"

"what?" donghyuck looked at him with furrowed brows.

"..last week's test? y'know, you said you'd beat his score next time."

"unless he completely aces it. then you can't beat him," jaemin snickered.

donghyuck shook his head. "no, i'm not really worried about beating him."

"whoa." renjun and jeno were looking at him in surprise, while jaemin remained unfazed.

"what happened? you always hated him," jeno questioned.

donghyuck didn't know how to answer.

"it's a recent development," jaemin cut in.

donghyuck looked at him in confusion. "what is?" he asked.

"you and y/n. you're friends now. right?"

donghyuck looked between the three of them, still searching for words. he cleared his throat and nodded. "um, yeah we are."

"where d'you think haechan has been for lunch everyday lately?" jaemin asked. that's when all the dots connected for renjun and jeno. donghyuck couldn't even be bothered to pay attention to whatever reactions the two of them were having, not when jaemin was giving him that signature, mischievous smirk.

"what? you thought i didn't know?" jaemin asked.

"well.. yeah."

jaemin smiled and shook his head. "you're terrible at hiding your feelings. i knew you liked him before you knew you liked him."

donghyuck laughed. "fair, i guess."

"woah, like?" jeno interrupted while renjun clung to him with wide eyes. "you like y/n?!"

donghyuck sighed and slumped back in his seat. "yes, i like y/n."

"that actually makes so much sense, i dunno why we didn't see that," renjun muttered.

"i don't know either," jaemin replied, earning a side eye from renjun.

"i was thinking about inviting him out with us sometime, like to the arcade or something. how would you guys feel about-"

"yes??"

donghyuck blinked. they seemed more excited than himself about the whole thing. he looked down and smiled.

"i guess it's settled then."

donghyuck was restless, unable to sit still. his chair felt uncomfortable and his thoughts wouldn't stop racing in his mind. he sat across from y/n in the library, spinning his pencil between his fingers like he usually did when he was anxious. but y/n looked just fine; he sat peacefully in his seat with his fist holding his chin up, studying the paper below him. donghyuck couldn't move his eyes away from him.

when y/n let out a deep sigh and sat back tiredly, hyuck took the chance to speak.

"you okay?"

y/n looked at him and gave a small grin. donghyuck couldn't tell if it was sincere or not.

"i'm okay," y/n answered. "just a little nervous for the test."

hyuck frowned, "don't be. you'll do great, i know it."

y/n's smile widened, genuine this time. he shook his head at such words.

"..sorry, was that cheesy?" donghyuck laughed.

"no, it was sweet. i'm just not used to you encouraging me instead of competing with me."

donghyuck looked down with an awkward smile. "yeah.. sorry about the way i acted toward you before."

"it's okay, hyuck. maybe you acted like you hated me 'cause you subconsciously liked me the whole time."

donghyuck froze, eyes widened. the way y/n spoke without a blink of an eye made his heart race. y/n looked up from his notes to see the mixture of surprise and terror written on the other's face.

"as a friend!" y/n quickly clarified. "i meant.. you actually wanted to be friends the whole time, not.." he shut up after realizing where his sentence was going. donghyuck couldn't help but chuckle as he watched y/n sit up straight and clear his throat to keep studying.

it was quiet between them for a few minutes. hyuck stared down at his math notes as if he was really going over them. he began to doodle on his paper again without thinking about it.

"..are those sunshines?" y/n asked, catching a glimpse of his paper.

"huh? oh, yeah."

donghyuck expected some kind of teasing to come next, but y/n just sat smiling at the drawings.

"that's really cute."

donghyuck's eyes flew wide. those three words sent a spark through his body. he looked up, meeting his crush's eyes. y/n only smiled at him again, then reached into his bag to pull out a yellow pen.

donghyuck looked down at his feet nervously, then back up to see y/n scanning the roads for any sign of a bus.

"looks like it'll be a minute. wanna sit?" y/n asked. donghyuck nodded and sat with him, fidgeting with his phone in his lap.

I HAVE SO MANY THOUGHTS ABOUT BIG BOB AND HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH THE KIDS i have peppered them throughout my posts and fanfics but i will expand on them a bit here >:)

i don't think bob ever went fully no contact with big bob but there was definitely a decade or two where they didn't live together and almost Never spoke except for big bob occasionally calling him to say happy birthday or whatever. when tina was born I think bob realized that he did want his dad to be in his kids lives in some way (yes they had linda's parents as their other set of grandparents but even back then i think bob KNEW they were shitty people and would be bad gransparents) he wanted them to have a good grandpa so he kinda introduced him into the kids lives

big bob was definitely nervous about being around these small and easily influenced humans even if he didn't outwardly express that. tina was the sweetest little baby so getting along w/ her was easy but gene and louise were definitely more stressful. and bcuz big bob was still busy with work he barely ever saw them anyway. but he did TRY to be a good grandpa by sending them birthday & christmas presents and giving them money every time they visited. trying to be a grandpa in the only way he knew how :(

could explore in another post how al and gloria are the WORST grandparents and how it's strongly implied that tina gene and louise don't actually like them (if you compare how they interact with linda's parents vs big bob its clear that they are tolerating al and gloria at most while they genuinely look forward to spending time with big bob and WANT to see him. can't even say it's because of bob influencing them to dislike linda's parents bcuz he openly hates his dad too lmao) but in comparison to them big bob really does correct so many of the mistakes he made w/ bob when it comes to his grandkids (to quote alice talking about gertie "she's a better grandmother than a mother you gotta trust me")

he's physically affectionate with them and he spoils them!!! he actually pays attention to their individual interests (watching gene's music performance and looking at louise's display of burobu cards, and seemingly getting her gifts specifically related to her interest in them for her birthday and christmas) and talks to them. compare that with al and gloria who literally got the kids a regifted book about staying active in retirement for christmas one year (with a whole chapter about sex with Actual pictures and examples which is fucked up) they're literally the worst ugh

and big bob's efforts with the kids seem to pay off bcuz they look forward to spending time with him :) they're always excited and I genuinely think it isn't only because he gives them money when they see him. they just like spending time with him!! "He's a good grandpa" and he bakes them cookies and worries about them and their futures <3 THEY'RE THE REASON HE BELIEVES THAT THE WORLD WILL BE OKAY. HE THINKS THEY'LL BE ABLE TO FIX THINGS?????

anyway some specific headcanons about his dynamics with each of the kids:

he definitely gets along the most easily with tina. they're similar people in the way that bob and tina are similar (except that tina is more positive than either of them lol) and they enjoy doing more lowkey activities together compared to louise or gene. they might enjoy baking cookies or doing puzzles together :) definitely a good thing that she was his first grandchild bcuz she was always kind and quiet and easy to get along with and it made him more confident in his abilities. Whenever he sees a horse themed item at a thrift store or whatever he buys it and gives it to tina the next time she visits!! that's how she got quite a few of her porcelain horses when she was younger (even if maybe decorative porcelain horses were not the best idea ever for a seven year old tina took very good care of them u_u gene and louise not so much. rip)

gene is probably the grandchild that he finds it the hardest to relate to just because they're such DIFFERENT people. gene is so effeminate and unashamed of himself and his emotions which is pretty much the opposite of how big bob was taught to be as a kid and how he raised bob. he never had daughters so its easier for him to relate to tina and louise bcuz they're almost like a blank slate?? he sees so much of what he did wrong with parenting bob when it comes to gene :( But they eventually find some common ground with gene's love of music and performing. big bob will tell gene about his favorite songs and records from when he was younger & he'll listen to all of gene's performances when he visits

louise is the most.... complicated for big bob? she reminds him SO MUCH of lily in everything from her personality to her pink hat. it definitely took him a few years to get over that and begin to see louise as her own person and stop projecting that trauma onto her (not intentionally but its just hard when you lose someone and then suddenly they're There again and they're your grandaughter) luckily louise is easy to love and her bold personality makes herself VERY known. he could not ignore her. he loves how spunky she is and how unashamed she is of herself (all his grandkids really) and he definitely thinks she's gonna grow up to do something great in the world. they don't have that much to bond over tbh he just let's louise take the lead and he does whatever she wants him to do. he just likes spending time with his granddaughter <3

definitely think that the kids have started seeing big bob more since his relationship with bob has been repaired a bit so i can imagine that connection will only grow stronger!!!!

Vee saw that and went "What!? You two are married and didn't say anything nor invited us to your wedding??" i love how resilient i am :) i used to think i wasn't and i just was weak as hell and everything was too hard but by learning my limitations & understanding how the things i've been through over the years (especially growing up In My Context undiagnosed w several mental disorders) have affected me & made me into who i am today and i love that even if things get pretty bad now, i know i'll get through it somehow

i love my sense of humor. i really think i'm so funny and i'm not sorry everytime i make someone laugh i feel like i've won a million dollars

i love how passionate i am about things because whenever it gets too hard to keep going or even seeing a reason to, things i love and care about can take me out of that mindspace pretty quickly

i love my tattoos! even the smallest ones have special meanings to me and i grew up obsessed w them and wanting to have them for so long and i think it's so awesome that I just. Get to have them now. awesome

HEY WHAT IF SIFFRIN FIGURED OUT LOOPS DEAL EARLIER. like second conversation where siffrin turns to loop and asks Such A Specific Question (perhaps, would you ever enter the house? why wouldn’t you? is this what happens after you loop for too long?) and they surprise even themself with how quickly they demand siffrin leave (and maybe also how quickly they swung at him.) i think itd be neat. to be Perceived. for siffrin to focus on another’s problems just to leave his own for a moment. act 6 fight ten times teary how can you help me, stardust. it’s too late.

Unpopular opinion: im!!! not sure??? maybe that i dont believe the first thing loop would do after exiting the loops is be as fashionable as possible lmao.

Favorite relationship: siffrin and them ………… they make me. feel shrimp emotions. self recognition through the other but it’s You, it’s you, it’s you two steps to the left and you’re seeing how you acted and how bad it was and god that’s how it went ?? that’s how much you were fooling ? Favorite headcanon: okay going to lay off the loop angst for one second. others have said it and i will be reiterating: it would be so fucking funny if loop kept insinuating siffrin and them were a bonded couple. I think that between issues 9 and 10 there was going to be a handful of more arcs, since the mutineers finding “Cyberutopia” and the Rod Squad dealing with all the shit they deal with in this issue seems very much like a prelude to the final arc, but we had to scrap all those arcs and jump to the end so we could, yknow. Have an ending before the reboot started. The fuckin reboot that also got cut off because IDW lost the license for Transformers lmfAO god........ every day I wonder what this comic would've been like if it had gotten to live its full lifespan

They’re gonna be long though so uuuuuuuuuuuuh heads up expanding the post!

Ok so first up is Ortho! Homegirl is so protective of him especially after book 6. She probably thought she’d never see him again after what happened in STYX so when he came back to be a student at NRC she was so happy, definitely got close to crying but will deny that forever lmao

She tends to treat him like a little brother because look at him and tell he’s not everyone’s little brother. You can’t you’re lying. She’ll always keep an eye on him when she can and cheers him on in anything that he pursues.

She genuinely believes that Ortho can do anything but will still protect him with her life. 10/10 incredible baby bro

Next up is Grim! The son ever! I’m going to be completely honest in saying that she was totally off-put by him in the very beginning. She didn’t quite understand why she was even being associated with this furball but with time and the necessity of teamwork between them they quickly bonded. He was the first to find out that she’s not a boy in the all boy’s school and even when she doubted him at first, he never let it slip to anyone. They can rely on each other when it really counts and it’s sweet.

She will openly refer to him as her son and she’s not afraid to poke at his pride every now and again (which he needs good gravy) but sometimes she humors his antics a little too much. She will claim that she is his familiar rather than vice versa if anyone calls him a familiar because she knows he hates it and doesn’t mind the title anyway. It’s kinda funny to see people’s reactions too.

Ultimately they have more of a sibling relationship than anything and have each other’s backs. They do love each other like family, 10/10 found family. Would find again

Lastly but not leastly is Mozus Trein! The dynamic between them is actually pretty interesting (to me at least) because it didn’t start out as much. If anything Lucius was the one to break the ice. Chris was always quietly affectionate towards the cat and he’d gotten comfortable hopping up onto her desk during class. She’ll always pet him and say hello and goodbye before and after class and Trein was always amused but never really showed any bias. For a long time Chris was actually a bit intimidated by Trein but slowly warmed up to him as time went on.

The relationship probably reached a pique during the Glorious Masquerade event! Chris was able to spend time with just Trein and Grim while exploring Fluer City so they were able to talk more casually, not having to worry about school for the moment.

She definitely slipped up and called him “dad” at one point, but rather than backing out she decided to commit to the bit for shits and giggles (Watching Trein’s composure waver when instead of apologizing she asked “Dad, am I the disappointment of the family?” Was definitely worth it though he was not expecting that). This of course was a joke between the two of them, as no one would ever drop the subject if they found out about it.

They have an inside joke now, so you might hear one of them mumble a “I raised you better than this” or “you’re not even my real dad” at each other if you listen closely. Of course if you don’t know it’s an inside joke then it might give you the wrong impression as Trein is always deadpan when he jokes… 10/10 best dad Trein

anyways,, so the self ship part comes in when she’s dirt biking around and comes upon an old abandoned department store or something and is like, oh hey. I’ll just pop in there and raid some shit real quick. little did she know the Fab Four got there first and already figured out the building was all locked up so ghoul rigged up a bomb to blow the doors open and uh. had already taken cover for it to go off and it went off when she was like 50ft from the door 😀 so the four came back out and lo! a body on the ground! so they’re freaking the fuck out and she gets back up like wtf just happened?? and the four are like OH GOD ARE YOU OKAY and ofc she can’t hear a thing but her ears ringing bc a fucking bomb went off in her face basically so she ends up hanging around w them in the store til her ears stop ringing quite so much.

so she’s deaf in one ear from that lmao.

but anyhow she ends up following the four back to the diner cuz she’s just been going around crashing wherever anyway, might as well right? 🤷‍♀️ but turns out she’s cool and they’re cool and they all like each other so much she ended up never leaving hehe,, aaaand she liked fun ghoul the best <33 even tho she still brings up him blowing up a bomb practically in her face <333 (“I DIDNT FUCKING KNOW YOU WERE THERE!!”)

like she flirts by being mean (affectionately ofc) so originally she would just keep bringing up the bomb incident to ghoul to make fun of him kinda,, like she’d volunteer for first watch one night and he’s like no carbon you had it last night, I’ll take it this time it’s fine. and she’s all like “mmmm sorry bub I can’t hear ya that well… had this close encounter with some guy’s bomb going off, see? so I’m deaf in one ear now” and he’s just like 😑 … fuck you carbon. and she just giggles but she lets him take the watch anyway. but yeah so they mess with each other a lot and somewhere along the way they started doing it more for each other’s attention and less to be funny. AND on top of that she’s really affectionate (hugs the guys regularly, has sat in jet’s lap once in the trans am and in kobra’s once on a dare, and has fallen asleep on each of the four at least once), AND has to lean really close to them to hear them better sometimes bc yk. hearing problems. and they’re both kinda stupid so party, jet, and kobra literally figured out the other two liked each other soooooo long before the two even realized it lol.

anyways it all comes to fruition one night when they’re changing watches, carbon taking over from ghoul BUT ITS LIKE RLLY AWKWARD YK BC THEY’VE BOTH FIGURED OUT THEIR FEELINGS BY NOW BUT HAVENT FIGURED OUT THE OTHER PERSON’S,, LFHSKDJFJSK— so carbon heads out to wherever ghoul’s stationed and it’s like. she says hi and he says hey, and she kind of just expected him to hug her goodnight and go after that but he doesn’t so she sits with him in silence for a good while, sorta just waiting for him to go in to bed and also just trying to enjoy this rare alone time w him without overthinking it too much. eventually he scoots a little closer to her and puts his arm around her. she lays her head on his shoulder. still neither of them say anything for another ten minutes or so.

until finally she says, “ghoul?” it comes out quieter than she expected it to.

“hm.”

“you should go in and get some sleep, I’ll be fine out here.”

“mm, yeah… I guess you’re right.” and he nods a little but doesn’t take his arm away; she hasn’t lifted her head from his shoulder either.

another minute of silence. “you cold?”

she looks up at him. “sorry?”

he leans closer and repeats the question. she shakes her head ever so slightly and tries to ignore the way her heart skipped when he leaned down. “oh. no, I’m fine.” they haven’t broken eye contact since he first asked.

“you sure?” he says it quietly on purpose this time. when she inevitably inclined her head to have him say again, he leans in and kisses her cheek instead. (!!!!)

wanted to drop some shit because I've once again reworked my monster designs and I am doodling fanart AS I'M TYPIGN

I like to think that after each of their respective little adventures to the corners of Hyrule that the monsters might have little trinkets and accessories from those respective regions,,, mostly I just like glamming up my designs a bit but I think it would be sweet too,,,

I think Zayl already had that neckerchief thingy or whatever it's called from Sidon but I like to imagine the Zora in Kakariko sneaking it little trinkets from the Domain since it never got a huge chance to look at those types of things,,, I like to draw it with fancy silver jewelry that Sidon and co. grabbed for it !! I could talk about Zayl all day actually I love it so much,, wonderful creature

My new Sledge design comes back from Goron City with little rudimentary ornaments of rope and metal and some fancy rocks,,, I think it should be able to take home a few things since it was so welcome in the City and made a nice impression on the Gorons even when like. who doesn't unless they're being a dick. I love the Gorons they're so chill I can't wait for Sledge to get to hang out with them more

Kobb having little tufts of fur tied with Rito style clasps and braids and stuff,, maybe even some of the daisies/dandelions [I FORGOT IF IT WAS MAKING A DAISY CHAIN OR A DANDELION CHAIN WITH THE RITO KIDS,,, AUGH] from when it was hanging out with the little ones !! Maybe the goggles from its duel with Thrush,, I don't think it'd get to keep those but they're cute to draw it with so whagever <3

Rezek is such a diva. That Wizzrobe serves levels of cunt that shouldn't be possible idk if it's obvious but Rezek is such a special little creature to me,, besides the earring it got in Gerudo Town I like to draw it with flashy gold rings and bangles just for the hell of it. Rezek seems like it would meticulously remove every piece of jewelry it's wearing, politely hand it to someone else, and then proceed to walk away and beat the shit out of someone. I'm not sure how to draw the more human-like of Hyrule's people [which is why I haven't drawn as much of Link and everyone else as I would have liked lol] but I gave my Riju and Rezek designs matching gold bracelets like Riju took one of hers off and gave it to Rezek [like this] just because. I like them a lot

He doesn’t mean any harm by it, and he’ll stop if you don’t like it but it just makes him very happy to take care of you.

Once you’ve settled into being comfortable with each other for a while, that’s when he’ll give you the ring. Likely at home, after an at home dinner date or in the van, parked somewhere nice.

It’s less about being legally bound to one another, and more about the promise. Chances are, you never had a legal wedding. It was either an at home, backyard exchange with Max ‘officiating’ and your friends coming to watch, or a private exchange between just the two of you.

Al has strived over many years to be as little like his own father as possible, which means he’s usually very emotionally and physically gentle.

When it comes to you Al’s hugs are tight, all encompassing, and warm. He wraps his arms around your middle as snug as he can manage and pulls you into his chest, inhaling the smell of your hair and kissing the top of your head so gratefully.

If you’re shorter than he is, sometimes he’ll sit down so you can crawl into his lap and he’ll rest his chin on your shoulder.

Stupidly quick. He told you (and honestly meant it romantically as well) when you were still very much in the friends stage.

He tells you everyday. Writes it on the mirror condensation while you’re taking a shower, puts notes with your lunch.

Al can get pretty jealous, if you give him a reason to be.

Although, you wouldn’t know unless you know his mannerisms well.

He shuts down for the most part and gets very quiet and almost grumpy, distancing himself when he’s usually talkative and chatty.

Al’s kisses are warm and mostly soft. He cups his hands over your face and rubs your cheeks with his thumbs, sometimes squishing them into a funny little pucker when he’s feeling goofy.

Nights are usually spent unwinding after work together, with a hot bath w/ lots of bubbles to start and then ordering take out/attempting to make dinner (hopefully with no spills on Al’s part)

Turning on the TV as nothing more than background noise while you eat together and reflect on your day.

Al is VERY big on communication and he likes to talk about the way you both felt throughout the day, and the way you feel at the end of the day.

Finally snuggling up under the covers with Sammy at your feet

Albert has quite a lot of trauma and he didn’t want to start dumping it on you immediately.

Mostly because it’s a lot to hear, but he also didn’t want to scare you away.

So he’d take it a bit slowly, but be very honest in what he tells you. He loves you, and trusts you with even the nastiest bits of his life. Don’t be surprised if he cries, it’s still mostly unresolved and it’s a lot to talk about.

P = Patience (How easily angered are they?)

Al, aside from everything conditioning him to grow up otherwise, is very patient.

He never gets angry at you, maybe frustrated or irritated once in a blue moon but it’s very normal.

Even though he won’t admit it, he gets angry at Max more often than he should.

In general, you have to really push and/or take advantage of Al to get him angry and even then, he tries to resolve it fairly quickly.

Anger is his least favorite feeling, it always makes him sad afterwards.

Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)

Albert is excellent at remembering the tiny and odd details about you.

Your favorite songs, how you take your coffee exactly, the smells you like and dislike, your favorite candy. He often surprises you with the things you mentioned liking in passing as little gifts.

When you met, he likely forgot your last name, but remembered your eye color.

R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)

He would have a rough time choosing one, but he can probably (maybe) choose two!!

One being the first time you hugged him. You were warm, like a safe haven for him to let his guard down. Every time he hugs you now, he feels the same way.

The second being the first time you exchanged the words “I love you.” He was so excited he scooped you up into his arms!!

S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)

For someone who’s such a klutz, he’s also very protective over you. Physically, as well as emotionally.

Don’t think he’d hesitate to put himself between you and harms way, Al has been through a lot of abuse so he won’t stand to watch you be hurt.

He’s also emotionally protective when you’re having bad brain days. He’ll wrap his arms around you in bed to let you cry it out against his chest. He won’t ever ask you, but please, do the same for him.

T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)

Al always tries to do the best he can with what he has, so things aren’t extravagant but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t put effort into them.

He doesn’t take you to fancy restaurants, but he’ll spend forever setting mood in the house exactly right or finding a place that serves your favorite foods.

Everyday tasks are always done with love, as they’re small acts of service for you.

U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?)

He has a habit of putting himself down, even if he passes it off as a joke. He might laugh when he calls himself a idiot or a joke, but he’s serious on the inside.

Not so bad, but he bites his nails. It’s a nerve thing so he doesn’t really think about it when he does it until they hurt/bleed.

It’s not excessive, but Al always has a pack of cigarettes around to smoke when he’s particularly stressed out or upset. Depending on the week, that could be often or not.

V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)

Not very much. He has basic hygiene, and maybe puts a little more effort into his hair with conditioner. Shaves his face regularly. Smells pretty decent, like laundry detergent, faintly of cigarettes and dog, and a little cologne/aftershave.

W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?)

Absolutely, Albert honestly may need you more than you need him.

His whole life is go to work and then come home to take care of you, Sammy, and snowball with a little magic thrown in. He loves it, wouldn’t have it any other way.

I stated this above, but he has a big ol’ fluffy bunny named snowball!! She’s used for magic shows and the kids go wild over her!!

In general, alcohol. Al doesn’t drink. His parents drank, Max drinks, and he doesn’t want any part of it. He thinks it tastes bad and doesn’t like what it does to people.

In a partner, probably someone stuck up or boring, without a sense of humor. Anyone too plain, in that sense. Al’s whole life is pretty much clown shoes. If his partner can’t laugh with him, it won’t work out.

Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habits of theirs?)

Uh, often.

Al is tired a lot and sleeps in whenever he can.

He also snores (hope you don’t mind) and is SUPER hard to wake up once he’s out.

He has nightmares about certain things sometimes, but they’re not worryingly often and nothing he can’t calm down from.

Can sleep in pretty much any position so sometimes you might see him on his stomach.

If you’re with him, he’s always holding onto you tight, with his arms wrapped around your waist and his face buried into you.
