With his dad back to help him with the Baby, Ken needs to call you to check if you are okay.
You nearly fall back into old habits. ---
Ring…
Ring…
One thing Ken loves likes appreciates about you is that no matter the timezone or how busy you are, you always pick up the phone for him.
Ring…
Ring…
Sorry, your call is not—
Okay, so he exaggerates sometimes.
Ken flops on his bed post-shower, hair still damp as he throws his phone to the side. Mina flits around nearby to ensure that he finally sleeps tonight while his dad watches over the baby in the basement. And he is trying his best to. His joints are begging him to succumb to his fatigue, and he can barely keep his eyes open. Yet, he still lay awake. He knows what he needs.
Mina worries like a mother hen, hovering over the bed. “If you would like, I can run one of the simulations instead if she won’t answer,” she offers.
“No Mina, it still makes me feel a little creepy,” he grumbles.
Her mechanical whirring grows a bit louder. “It would just be for a few minutes. No one has to know.”
Okay, tempting. “...Can you run a quick one?”
Before Mina could start up the projector, his phone lights up with a familiar ring tone. He never dove so fast to answer a call.
His phone nearly slips out of his grasp as he fumbles to press the green button—
You are greeted by a freshly showered Ken Sato through the video call. You sit up straighter on your bed as you blink, bleary.
“Hey,” his relief leaks through your phone speaker. Though it is a bit dim in his room, his camera still caught the crinkle of his eyes as he saw you. “You’re okay. I saw in the news you got picked up by a—”
“You ever heard of a shirt?” You cut him off.
“You know I don’t sleeping with one.” He chuckles when he sees you roll your eyes.
“Whore. No wonder you’re knocked up.”
“Think about who you are slutshaming.” You see him ease into his bed, hearing his soft yawn as he lies down on his left side. “Stress isn’t good for our baby.”
“You know, you don’t have to baby trap me into staying, as the gossip mag claimed. Our fight at the Yakisoba place last night wasn’t the end of the world.” That fight felt worlds away now given all that happened to you in the past few hours.
Ken laughs nervously. “Honestly, I was scared that the article ruined our friendship even further.”
You  lie down on your right side and put your face close to the camera, eyebrows scrunching. “Worse things have been written about us.”
“Never a pregnancy though.”
“That one article about me, claiming I was double-timing you and Yuzu, was a lot worse.”
“I still don’t get what you saw in him,” he grunts. “And will you stop calling him Yuzu? He publicly broke up with you.”
You aren’t stupid. You know exactly why Ken hated your most recent former boyfriend, Yuzuru Hanyu. Hell, Ken used to respect the guy so much as a fellow athlete until you started dating him. He does not have to say it out loud for you to know the reason. He knows you know. Neither of you have ever addressed it.
“It’s been a year, it was mutual, and he’s still my friend,” you point out as you adjust your covers over your left shoulder, a flash of deep red seen briefly.
“Yeah well you tell him— woah wait, hold the phone up to your arm.” The sudden urgency of his request nearly jolts you awake.
You bury yourself into the covers a bit more. “It’s fine. Doesn’t really hurt.”
“That’s not what I’m asking.”
“I thought this was a sleep call, since the last time you asked for one was three weeks ago. You look like you haven’t had a good night’s—”
“Can you stop changing the subject and show me your arm?” He snaps, his fatigue making him irritable. A drop of water from his damp hair hits his camera, which he promptly wipes away. “I called you because I heard you were grabbed by a kaiju.”
“So you don’t want me to help you sleep? You always tell me you pass out like a baby when I help.” You try to lift the mood but he wasn’t having it.
“Arm. Now,” He scolds, like you are a dog.
You scoff at his tone, but you brought your left arm from out under the covers. You use your mouth to tug up your sleeve as you held your phone with the other hand to show him the fresh, angry bruisings imprinted on your skin.
“Oh god—”
“It’s just from when that tiny kaiju picked me up. It squeezed me a little bit but I’m just glad its claws didn’t scratch me.” You push your sleeve back down.
“I’m so sorry.” For some reason, his apology sounds so personal.
“It’ll be fine,” you try to soothe him through the call. If you two were together in person, you would have reached forward to squeeze his arm. “It is going to fade away in a week. I got it checked too before I went home, nothing was broken. I’m still here.”
He mumbles something to himself, and you strain your ears to hear a guilt-filled this is all my fault. You don’t really understand what he means by it, but perhaps it is just grief making him say strange things. It is hard when those you cared for get taken too soon by a monster. A multitude of families all across Tokyo struggle to cope with the losses they have sustained, and the entire city lives in fear that it will happen to them.
“Kenji? Are you alright?” You ask slowly. His face is blank, save for the misery that shone in the crease of his forehead.
He closes his eyes, trying to relax his face. “...Can you just keep talking…”
“You wanna sleep?” You start thinking about what to talk about this time. Often, he likes hearing about your day the most. However, not much has happened to you today save for the incident.
He nods.
“Okay.” You talk about the company and the work you have been doing— how often times it feels like a 24/7 shift. You know he only wants to lie down and listen, so you warm up to give a lengthy discussion about numbers and recent data points in market research that you found interesting— maybe it will bore him to sleep. His even, measured breathing tells you that he is close to. While there is so much for you to talk about your work, you begin to start running out of things you actually want to discuss. You are also getting sleepy, and you even have to rest your hand holding your phone on the pillow since your fingers are getting too tired to secure it in your grip. You are about to draw a blank, but your mind wanders to when you were stumbling on the roof of a building earlier that evening.
Oh, you think. Maybe he will find it a little funny. Haven’t messed with him in a while.
“Also, is it just me or has Ultraman gotten hot?”
You startle when his eyes suddenly shoot open. “I’m sorry— who?!”
“The 40-meter superhero?”
“Him?!” His voice is alert but hoarse, his throat pushing out words amidst his drowsiness.
You laugh freely at his reaction, bringing up your thumb to your mouth to bite a little on your nail as you explain yourself. “I dunno, he… I never really thought about him like that, being a giant and all but maybe it is because I never came close or spoken to him before…he saved me earlier from that kaiju and I kinda found it hot? Just being so tiny in his palms—”
“Please stop talking.” You have never seen such a conflicted face on him before.
“Why? You jealous he has a killer waist?”
“I can tell you that that is the furthest thing I am feeling right now.”
“You know he knew my name too,” you continue, failing to notice the way he freezes. “Do you know the theory that Ultraman is like a human guy when there aren’t any monsters? I bet he knows me from the internet or something,” you giggle.
“Yeah, of course he knows who you are…Who wouldn’t?” You mistake his nervousness as sarcasm.
Can’t he just let you have a little celebrity crush? “Kenji, it’s not like I’m going to fuck him. He’s all smooth down there and I don’t even know if his mouth works like that.”
“Can we talk about anything else? Please, I can’t fall asleep to this…” He grumbles with half of his face buried in his pillow, strands of hair sticking to his forehead.
“Maybe you can’t sleep because your pillow is all wet from your hair. Should I come over and teach you how to dry it properly?” You joke.
“Yeah?” He rasps, eyes heavy. “You wanna come over?”
He is nearly about to pass out, fatigue causing his mental filters to lower. He doesn’t know what he’s saying.
That does not stop your throat from going a bit dry.
You were quiet for a bit too long. “Kidding,” he mumbles.
You let out the breath you were holding, looking away from the screen.
“Too much stuff is going on,” he continues. “My dad is here and I’m struggling to adjust to the fact that he might stay with me for a while.”
“You’re speaking to Professor Sato again?” While you are hopeful that this will be a step toward the right direction for the father and son, you worry about what exactly is happening in Kenji’s life that he cannot tell you. You cannot imagine what would bring him to ignore his closest friend in favor of confiding to his estranged father. Perhaps it was a personal family matter.
He sighs, signalling that he is not in the mood to talk about it–he never is–and you let it go.
“I know you said that you can’t put in the effort right now to maintain our friendship, but,” you pause, unsure if what you will say will help. “I miss you.”
His shoulders shake as he laughs. It fills your bedroom. “Fuck you have no idea.”
“It’s just been some time since you have called me for sleep help.”
He does not respond immediately, but you clearly see how deep his eyebags are— or actually, have been, the past few months. “You told me…to call you when I need someone. I really…really need you… I wish you were here…”
The call falls silent. It strikes you suddenly how your bed feels emptier than normal.
You wonder if it is worth the risk to fill it with one more body.
.
..
“Come over.”
His breath hitches.
You decide to say it a bit clearer, surer. “Come over. It…It doesn’t have to mean anything. We can just cuddle. I think…I think you need it.”
“I…” He clears his throat. “I thought you said—”
“It’s just one night.” You have no idea who you are trying to convince, but a dull ache begins to rise in your abdomen.
He slightly narrows his eyes, a little distrusting. “I don’t want to do this if you’re only doing it to make me feel better.”
“Kenji, I miss you.”
“Don’t say it like that.”
“I can send a car to pick you up if you’re too tired to bike here. I’ll let you go by the morning,” you try to entice him further. “Kenji…do you need me to tell you how much I need you? Because I do.”
He swallows loud.
“I need you.”
“Fuck— okay, I’ll be there.” he places down the phone so you are met with the view of his ceiling. You hear frantic movements in the background, a jingle of a belt buckle as he hurries to put on his pants.
“I’ll send the car—”
“Not fast enough. I’m awake enough to bike.”
You couldn’t stop the grin from forming on your face. “This is such a bad idea.”
“Hey, no take-backs,” he barks to the phone from a distance. “We’ll deal with it in the morning.”
Once he finally picks it up again, you see he is dressed in a white shirt and leather jacket. The chain around his neck catches in the light. You slightly nibble on your bottom lip.
“I’m just coming over to inspect your bruises,” he gruffly justifies.
“Mmhm.”
“And I want to make it up to you for how MIA I’ve been the past few months.”
“Just how will you do that?” You let your voice drop slightly, and he groans at the tone.
“Nothing like what you’re thinking, perv. You said a cuddle is fine, and I’m too banged up for anything else.”
You giggle. “I did. I won’t stop you though if you wander a bit.”
“And I will stop you if you so much as touch—”
A crash was heard at the end of his line. You bolt up as you see him stumble and fall as if an earthquake rocked his house. The phone flies from his hand and the camera meets with the floor. More crashing was heard, and you hear a robotic voice which you recognize as his AI, Mina, enter the vicinity.
“Professor Sato needs help with—”
“I got it, I got it!” You hear Ken snap. He picks up the phone again, and his face is contorted with exasperation. From behind him, Mina floats in view.
“Hey, Mina…” You weakly greet her.
She greets you back. “Apologies, that Ken cannot go to you—”
“Now who decided that?!” He interjects, frustration exploding. “Can’t he handle it alone? Like I have for the past—”
Another loud bang is heard through the call. You wonder whether this was what he has been dealing with all this time. It definitely sounds…occupying. You struggle to temper your disappointment. “It’s okay, Ken. I understand.”
He grinds his teeth, but nods. “I am so sorry.”
“We know that it is a bad idea anyway,” you murmur back. “You coming here. Maybe this is a sign we shouldn’t…go back to old habits.”
His face is unreadable. “Good night. Call you soon.”
“I’ll tell my assistant to wait for your email…about my schedule,” you recall your previous conversation.
“I miss you,” he simply says.
“I miss you too.”

Tumblr media
Cherry blossoms are known for their existence to be short-lived. They symbolise transience, ephemerality. They fall to the pavement as quickly as they bloom.
Just like the cherry blossoms, your existence will be short-lived. You’re running on borrowed time, and you don’t know when that time will run out.
Every breath you take could be your last.
There is a peaceful quietness as you wander around the park, admiring the vibrant pink hues of the flowers in full bloom. The faint smell of the cherry blossoms waft through the air, and you watch as some of the petals fall to the pavement.
The quietness is interrupted by a dog bark. A white dog runs up to you, and you look at it, startled and confused. Suddenly, a boy who looks around your age runs up to you.
“I am so sorry about Maeumi,” he says, attaching the leash back onto his dog. “He’s a little energetic sometimes.”
You look at the boy, and something about him feels familiar. Those eyes – you’d recognise them anywhere.
It’s Yang Jungwon, an old classmate of yours. He was the head of the student council during your time at the school, and you remember him even though you weren’t exactly there much due to your illness. But Jungwon was always a kind person, helping out anyone in need. He was friendly, and popular. You knew that many people had a crush on him, including your friend Minji.
“Wait a minute,” Jungwon’s eyes narrow suddenly. Something seems to click, and he gasps. “You’re (Name), right? We were in the same class in high school.”
You’re surprised that even with all his busy duties in high school and with you constantly being away at the hospital, Yang Jungwon still remembers you.
“Yeah, I am,” you say, a small smile on your lips. “I’m surprised you remember who I am.”
“Of course I’d remember you!” Jungwon’s eyes seem to twinkle as he says the words. “We worked together on a project for biology once. Do you remember me?”
You chuckle. “Of course. Yang Jungwon. Head of the student council.”
Jungwon smiles. “Yeah. That’s me.”
There’s a brief moment of silence where you and Jungwon just look at each other, small smiles on both of your faces. Maeumi sits patiently as a few of the cherry blossom petals land on his fur.
“So… what have you been up to?” Jungwon asks you, looking genuinely interested. How are you supposed to respond to that? Because really, you’re not going to just tell him that what you’ve been up to is… hospital.
“Um… work. Got a job,” you lie, nodding. “What about you?”
“I’m a lawyer now,” Jungwon replies, and you smile. “Law. It suits you.”
“Huh. Everyone tells me that,” Jungwon runs his fingers through his hair to make it a little neater. “So… what do you do at work?”
“Writing. I… write.” Well, that wasn’t a complete lie. You do write, just… not for work. You’ve only been working on one thing ever since you got your diagnosis — it’s something akin to a diary, recounting your journey through the last 10 years of your life.
Maybe you’ll get to see it published before you’re gone.
“Oh, that’s so cool!” Jungwon beams. “I know your writing’s great. You wrote for the school newspaper, right?”
It seems like Yang Jungwon remembers a lot about you. You wrote occasionally for the school newspaper when you were well enough to actually write. You’re surprised he remembers that, and you’re quite surprised that he actually read the school newspaper — you thought that with his busy schedule, he wouldn’t have had the time to.
“I did. You have a good memory.”
“Thank you.” Jungwon cracks a smile. The boy looks at the cherry blossom trees, before returning his focus onto you. “They’re pretty, aren’t they?” he asks, and you nod.
“I like the colours.” you say, quietly.
“Me too.”
“(Name), Soobin just got an emergency at the hospital, so he’s had to leave– oh!” Chaewon suddenly appears out of nowhere, startling both you and Jungwon. “Sorry, I didn’t know that you were talking to someone.”
“Oh, it’s okay.” you tell your sister, who looks at you, then looks at Jungwon, then looks at you again. “Was I interrupting something?” she asks, with a small smile on her lips.
“We were just looking at the cherry blossoms.” Jungwon pipes up. “I’m Jungwon. It’s nice to meet you.”
“Chaewon,” your sister says. “Do you know my sister?”
“We went to high school together,” you tell her. “Jungwon was the head of the student council. I’m actually quite surprised he still remembers me, considering how… you know.”
“Yes. I know.”
Jungwon doesn’t know exactly what you and Chaewon are talking about, but it seems personal — and he wouldn’t want to pry. And, you keep mentioning how you’re extremely shocked at the fact that Jungwon seems to remember you.
But, why wouldn’t Jungwon remember his first crush?
Something about you intrigued Jungwon the moment you stepped into the classroom for the first time. It was seventh grade, and you had walked into the room with a small smile on your lips. Jungwon remembers you catching his attention instantly.
You two were partnered together for a project, and you both had quite a few pleasant conversations while working on the assignment. Jungwon remembers walking home with a giddy smile on his lips after he had gone to your house.
But gradually, you started to disappear.
Throughout high school, Jungwon tried to talk to you as much as he could. Problem was, you were almost never at school, and when you were at school, Jungwon always seemed to be busy.
So Jungwon was never able to get closer to you. He couldn’t get to know you better, or find out why he found himself gravitating towards you.
You didn’t even show up for graduation.
The last time Jungwon remembers seeing you was in class one day. You were wrapped in a puffer jacket, a hand warmer in your hands. You looked pale. Jungwon assumed that you might’ve gotten a cold.
He didn’t know that you were sick. He still doesn’t know that you’re sick. Nobody from high school knows, with the exception of Minji and Wonyoung.
He just assumed you were always busy with out of school activities. But he never forgot about you.
“Oh, that reminds me. Ricky’s hosting a reunion party next week for our year? We’d love for you to come.” Jungwon says, and Chaewon nudges you gently. “You should go,” your sister whispers to you.
“Oh, I… I don’t know. I don’t think people there will really remember me.” you murmur, and Jungwon shakes his head. “No, they will! Just come along. Here, I’ll give you my number, since Ricky’s still making decisions on which restaurant he’s booking. I’ll text you the details.”
You type in Jungwon’s number into your phone slowly, saving his contact. “It was really nice seeing you again. What a coincidence, right?” he beams.
“It was nice seeing you again too, Jungwon. I’ll… let you know if I go.”
“I’ve got to run along now, a friend of mine’s waiting for me.” Jungwon says, a small pout on his lips. “But yeah, text me! I’ll talk to you soon.”
“See you around, Jungwon.” you say softly, and the boy gives you one last big smile before turning around to leave. Chaewon looks at you with a wide grin on her lips. “Come on, you should go!”
“I don’t know,” you say hesitantly. You’re not even sure if people remember you. Or know you at all. You attended school less than 20 times in your last year — to be completely honest, even you found it strange that you graduated. “What if people are like ‘who are you?’ It would make things really awkward.”
“So? Jungwon knows you. Invite Minji and Wonyoung. There, you know four people. Come on, (Name). You should live your life to the fullest.”
As you’re nearing the end of the 10 years that the doctor has given you, you decide that perhaps Chaewon is right. You’ve spent years wallowing in self-pity, spending all your days at home when you could’ve been spending time doing things that you’ve always wanted to do. See people you never thought you’d see again. Go to places that you’ve always wanted to go to.
You take a deep breath. “Okay. I’ll go.”
And as a pink cherry blossom petal brushes against your cheek, you return home with Chaewon by your side, and the thought of Yang Jungwon in the back of your mind.

respect for yuzuru hanyu
i mean, it’ll take years of practice to be in the position he’s in right now. i would never be that committed to dance with shoes attached to thin-ass knives on hard water in front of thousands of people who throw shit at you when you’re done, all while trying to look like a boujee-ass, gucci gang, graceful little swan
damn i’m making it sound bad
follow your dreams, kids

What happened to figure skating?
The male figure skating Olympic competition has come to an end many hours ago, but I only had the opportunity to watch the finale late today.
Yes, Yuzuru Hanyu didn't win any medal but I do think the other athletes still deserve their ranks. I would've loved for Yuzuru to win his third medal on the Olympics and 4th place is not as if he lost his role as the ice prince or is in some way past his best performence. Maybe, he'll attend the next again and it goes better. Maybe he wins the world cup, who knows. I still love his performances. It's just really satisfying to watch him do the pirouettes and stuff because they are so well balanced. It just looks beautiful, whatever he does.
But I do think figure skating changed. The athletes are forced to jump seven times in the free programm and it lets their programm lack a bit of grace. Not that they aren't elegant, that's not what I mean, but they are forced to concentrate so much on these difficult jumps that it's hard for them to really let it look like some kind of art.
Maybe I'm just seeing it like this because the german word for figure skating is "Eiskunstlauf" which contains the word "art". It litterally means "artsy ice skating" but I don't see a lot of art in hopping from one element to another just to get the score up. It's about the art for me, not the jumps.
Yes, the jumps they pull off look astonishing but for me, there would have to be more elegance to really be worth so many points in music interpretation.
Nathan Chen won gold this time and his free programm was extremely good on the technical level. But I missed the artsy part of it all because the first three minutes contained so many jumps, he didn't have time for anything else. I'm not saying he doesn't deserve his medal, God no, but I think the jury shouldn't've given him 9.8 points for music interpretation. He still would've won, by the way.
What happened to figure skating is what happens to every sport. Things become more technical, more focused on performance and more about strength to jump. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but it loses the artsy part of it a bit for me.
In my eyes, Deniss Vasiljevs, Adam Siao Him Fa and Nikolaj Majorov were better in performing art than Nathan Chen and Yuma Kagiyama. Sorry, to say that.
Again, I'm not saying they don't deserve their medals, because they do. The ones, I'm talking about were performing a lower level of difficulty. But still, it's more about sport now than about anything else but that's what happens to every sport eventually.

Trouble In Paradise (Yuzuru Hanyu x Reader)
Tumblr media
Request: "I was thinking of figure skater!reader x Yuzuru Hanyu, where they are dating and doing Fantasy on Ice. One night, where reader is especially exhausted she gets into an argument with him. During the following show, the audience and fellow skaters notice that something is wrong especially after she gave up her place as the first jumper at the end to Evgenia when Alina wanted to do it and she tried to stay as far away from Yuzuru the whole show when he tried to make amend with her. Later that night, they reconcile. The next day, it was in every news that reader prefers Evgenia over Alina and was in conflict with Yuzuru. So reader has to make an official "apology" to explain that she was exhausted" - @thehappygrungelife
A/N: this is actually my first request from Tumblr and I'm very grateful to the person who asked for a request and I really hope I do it a justice
Warning: angst + fluff (happy ending), some cursing and heated argument
It was another day of practice for FaOI (Fantasy on Ice) and for some reason, you were not in your best shape. You would constantly be off beat compared to others and even when it was your turn to practice your performance, it was all but good; it wasn't even near your "ok" performance.
Okay, maybe it wasn't because you woke up on the wrong side of the bed. The other day you've been pushing yourself quite hard and it was the first day of your period. To top it off? The only thing your boyfriend, Yuzu did was telling you that it'll be alright and one bad day won't do any harm since everyone has those days.
I mean, who could blame him, practice isn't always easy when you're not into it. The whole entire day, you just prayed that practice would be over as soon as possible but of course, the more you want time to go by, the longer it actually is.
After what feels like days, practice was finally over and you were all dismissed to go back to your hotel. But despite feeling rough, you decided to wait for Yuzu since you just wanted to sulk and complain to him. But when you saw Yuzu talking with other female skaters, you decided to just leave in your grumpy state.
Throughout the rest of the day, you kept on ignoring all the notifications you got from Yuzu. Every message, every phone call, you ignored them all. Until you heard a knock on the door to your hotel room. Thinking it was the room service you ordered but it turns out to be a not pleased Yuzu.
"Where were you? I've called you so many times. Did you even check your phone?!" Yuzu questioned, his tone was immediately an octave higher
"It was charging. I'm trying to not look at my phone too much. It stresses me out" you shrugged, going back to your bed and looking at your laptop
"What's the difference with your laptop then?! You know what, never mind. Do you know how worried I was?! I thought something happened to you" Yuzu sighed, stress combing his hair
"Oh, now you noticed. I'm fine. Thanks for asking. You should head back and rest. Our show is literally tomorrow" you mentioned, not looking away from your laptop
"What's with you? Did something happen? Did someone hurt you?!" Yuzu started to get worried
"Nothing much. Just another tiring day. I'm serious Yuzu, just go. You need your rest too" you replied, sighing
"Why? Why are you pushing me away?! We barely talked today" Yuzu complained
"I'm just tired and on my period. Can we please not have this conversation. I don't want to lash out at you" you sighed, getting up from the bed
"Why? Why would you lash out? C'mon, let's just talk. I'm worried about you" Yuzu mentioned, taking your hands in his
"Why don't you just go back to the other skaters. I really am not in the mood to talk. Just go" you groaned, letting your hands go
"This talk isn't over (Y/N). You can be mad at me but we still have to talk it through. Get some rest, alright?" Yuzu sighed in defeat, leaving you in your room
Oh how you wish you could just make the whole week go by as fast as Thanos' snap. But, like it or not, you just have to face it and get through cause eventually it'll all be over.
Unfortunately, the other skaters and even the audience knew that something was wrong. Your typical bubbly and enthusiastic self was nowhere to be seen. Sure, you managed to perform your skating until the end, but it seems something was off. Your expression didn't lie.
What threw it off even more is when you were supposed to be the first jumper before the closing but you decided to let Zhenya do it, telling her that you weren't feeling well and your period cramps were acting up more than the usual and because Zhenya was the closest to you.
After the performance was over, there were many words going around and the media started to bring up some news about you preferring Zhenya over Alina to do the first jump. When the news started to blow up, Yuzu was the first to try to find you and talk about why you did what you did; not only that, he also wanted to talk about why you've been avoiding him since last night and even during the whole event.
However, the second the staff told everyone to go backstage, you were the first to leave the stage because your period cramps were getting unbearable and you quickly excused to be able to go back to the hotel on your own, trying to get away from the media who were plastering questions to why you decided to give your first jump spot to Zhenya.
Over on Yuzu's side, his eyes were traced on you throughout the whole show. Especially when you gave up your first jump spot for someone else when you normally are enthusiastic to do it. When Yuzu saw you quickly going backstage, he didn't hesitate to follow you. Calling out for you and asking you to talk but he lost sight of you and you eventually went out of the room before he could get to you, sparking another drama for the media.
Throughout the rest of the day, you just shut any kind of way for people to contact you and just passed out since the period cramps were getting to you. You didn't know how long you've been sleeping until you heard several, no, multiple knocks on your door that could probably be heard throughout the floor you were staying.
Grunting, you finally woke up and headed towards the door, opening it and revealed Yuzu, your boyfriend and the person you honestly don't really want to talk to but at the same time, relieved that it was him instead of someone else. Sighing, you knew that you were going to have the talk sooner or later. So, you finally let him in, telling him that you just woke up.
"Before you ask anything. I just woke up" you mentioned, closing the door as Yuzu came in
"What happened? Are you sick? You didn't seem too well. If you were sick, you could've said so instead of pushing yourself and not putting on your best performance" Yuzu started to lecture
"Yuzu..." you mumbled
"Like honestly. I was worried. We're all worried about you but you kept pushing us away" Yuzu argued
"Yuzu!! Stop!!" you raised your voice back
"No. Look, I get it if you're tired but that doesn't mean you should just push people away" Yuzu argued back
"YUZURU HANYU!! I SAID. STOP IT" you shouted, stunning Yuzu since he never saw you this angry
"Please. I'm already tired from a stressful week and my period just came yesterday and the cramps were unbearable even when I've taken medication" you sighed, plopping back on your bed as Yuzu follows you
"Not only that. I was hoping to be able to have a night of just the both of us yesterday but you were talking to other skaters and I don't want to seem so clingy or anything. I also don't want to be mad at you since my mood swings during my period is not the greatest. But guess the media thought otherwise" you explained
"Hey, hey, look at me. Why didn't you say anything? No one would've ever thought something like that, hmm? Especially me. You're not clingy at all. I actually like it you know. Makes me feel more loved and wanted. It's actually one of the things I like about you. What bout letting Zhenya jump first? Was it also because of your period?" Yuzu softly asked, holding your hands in his as he kneeled in front of you
"Yea. And Zhenya was the closest to me. I swear there's no hate going around or anything" you replied, sighing
"Alright. Let's not worry about that. We can deal with the media tomorrow. I'm just glad that you're alright. Please tell me whenever you don't feel well or if something doesn't sit right with you, okay? No matter what reason it is. No matter if you think it's silly, I want to hear about it. We're in this together. Whatever your problem is, it's my problem too and I want to help you" Yuzu reminded, holding your hand tightly in his
"Okay. I'm sorry for making you and everyone else worry" you mumbled
"It's alright. Just don't hide anything from me anymore okay? Now let's just rest. I'll help you deal with the media tomorrow, hmm?" Yuzu mentioned, pressing a gentle kiss on your forehead
"Are you staying?" you murmured, looking into his eyes
"If you want me to. If not, I'll just stay until you're asleep" Yuzu replied, patting your head
"You can stay. I don't feel like I'll be able to sleep anytime soon since I did just take a long nap" you mentioned
"Alright. Then I'll stay here to comfort you. Let's just watch a film, hmm? I'll order some room service" Yuzu mentioned, going over to the phone to call for room service but you stopped him
"Thank you, Yuzu. I really am lucky to have you" you smiled, looking at Yuzu with eyes full of love
"And I am too. I'm thankful to have you as well. Thankful that you're able to make me warmer and more open to others" Yuzu giggled, taking your hand and kissing it
In the end, the both of you just cuddled up in your bed and watched some movies to end the night, thanking the universe for bringing the both of you together. Because, in the end of the day, no matter what difficult situations you may face, with the right person, you can get through it.
A/N: @thehappygrungelife I hope that I did your request a justice and hope that you like it :)

“He works hard for the sake of other people” || Bits from the interview with Uno Shoma’s ex-coach, Higuchi Mihoko
"I've known Shoma ever since he started skating casually at the rink when he was small." "I asked my assistant at the time to ask his mom if he was in any classes anywhere. It turned out that he was just coming to the skating rink for fun, and didn't  decide what to do yet.” About why she asked if he was taking any classes: "He was just so cute!" "Also there was a sparkle. He had something that caught my eye." Which seems to be 'sense'. "You can call it sensitivity. A sense for skating, for jumping, having everything that you need for figure skating. That's what I mean." "Honestly I didn't know what would happen until he made it to Seniors. He couldn't land jumps, and he couldn't make it to the podium although he was a top skater among the other athletes who couldn't land jumps." "But he really loved skating, and he practiced to the point I would wonder how he could skate this much." About Shoma leaving them; "It seems that Yamada Machiko sensei recommended it to him for a while but rather than saying 'It's better if you go', I used to say ‘Why not ask various choreographers to work with you?’, 'Should we learn jumps from a different coach?'” "That's because I wanted him to broaden his horizons even more. However he didn't have any interest in that. Even about working with another choreographer, he would only say ‘maybe if it's an Exhibition program'. " About the time Shoma didn't have any coach and started getting bad results: "I couldn't watch it."  "I didn't think about asking him to come back. Because there'd be no point of it if he just came back. I wanted to watch over him, while cheering him on." After Shoma began working with Stephane; "I thought he picked a good place. I thought Stephane would work well with Shoma. He was really teaching with utmost effort in Team Japan Training Camp, and you can be at ease around him." "Besides he can dance and skate, aside from jumps. Isn't he one of the best, even now? That's how good he is." About Shoma's bronze medal in Olympics and gold medal in Worlds; "I watched Worlds in real time on TV. Without realizing, I was sitting up straight and shouting 'Do your best!'" "He had a great expression on his face and since his body looked even in better shape than it was in Olympics, so I thought he could actually do it. I thought "Finally!" when he became the champion." About the factors of Shoma's success this season; "When he was with me, he'd never say things like 'I want to aim for the gold medal' or 'I want to be the champion'. Because he's the type who just wants to make the performance his own." "However, winning the silver medal at Pyeongchang changed his perspective and I think without realizing, he began to push himself further." "I think Kagiyama Yuma had a big presence in that. I think he realized he needed to figure out what he wanted to do, with Hanyu Yuzuru at the top and his juniors coming up, he knew he had no choice but to do his best." Shoma's personality also played a part in his success; "Back when he was with me, if he made a mistake, he'd apologize after he came back by saying "I'm sorry, I couldn't show a good performance. I apologize. On the contrary, if I felt happy, he'd say he's happy because I was." "He was the type who wouldn't really be pleased because he's so strict with himself, but he'd say he's glad if his coach his happy. During the World Championship in 2018, he was hurt in his leg and honestly he was in a condition where he should have withdrawn."  "However he was worried about the spots for Japan (for the next year's Worlds) and after his performance was over, he asked 'The spots are okay, right?'" "Shoma works hard for other people's sake. He cares about his surroundings. Oh that's right, he's considerate to the point where he'd intentionally lose to younger kids at the rink in fake playful competitions." "He probably had a strong desire to perform in a way that would make Stephane happy, because he's really grateful to him." don't feel bad about posting about figure skating! it's your blog you can post what you like! besides reading about people's genuine interest is interesting as well even without having one's own expertise on the topic <3 i hope figure skating will continue to be fun for you even without Yuzuru!
ohhh thank you this is so sweet ! i'm actually gonna take this space to muse about how i feel about yuzuru going pro because now that i've thought about it i actually feel really good about it. the ISU has been getting more and more quad-oriented/corrupt these past few years and this year there's been an entire overhaul of the scoring, which is just so. sighs. and yuzuru has always been snubbed, in the sense that ISU officials were changing rules to keep him from winning everything lmao. he's won everything he needs to, and if he feels like he genuinely doesn't need or want judging anymore i think that's a great decision bc pro skating will allow him to do soooo many things at his own will, and it'll be way more accessible. im just a little sad that it ended the way it did with what happened at beijing because it was truly a nightmare, in large part due to the ISU being so unfair. but yeah i'm looking forward to pro-skater yuzuru hanyu! i just know he's gonna land that 4A and maybe even a quint like who fucking knows he gets crazy with it
and like keeping up with competitive skating... i think this next season will be very make or break for me continuing to watch competitive skating. like i said, they changed the rules and i really don't feel very incentivised to relearn them anymore? men's just lost their main draw, ladies is overrun with rusfed corruption, the future of pairs hinges on whether s/h come back from their break. ice dance is fucking insane i won't even touch that with a 10 foot long pole. i obviously have my favs (jun for men's he had such a good sp the last season; wakaba for ladies; s/h and rikuryu for pairs) but i don't see an upcoming figure like Yuzuru, or Yuna, or Virtue/Moir (and if Sui/Han retire, them) on the ice. competitive fs is in a very sad state right now. in any case, i think i'm going to just check out programs from skaters and not focus on scoring and wins, because ISU judges are incompetent lmao.
but i think it's a good change! watching more pro-skating will be fun, and maybe i'll even get to see a show... ahhhh i'm still like, sad, but getting the time to think about it makes it settle well in my heart.
SORRY FOR JUST RUNNING WITH YOUR ASK but i liked putting my thoughts down like this and you were so very sweet. thank you again and im sending u all my love! <3

i’m not on anon but i would love for you to tell me about something you know a lot about just for fun 🤍
WELL JO since i’m very much still in Figure Skating Mode™️ and the olympics are just a few weeks away, i’ll give you my dream scenarios on how i would love for the podiums to go. these are based on nothing other than my own taste and will probably look nothing like this irl 😅😅😅
men:
🥇: nathan chen landing all clean jumps and NOT falling during at the end of his fs
🥈: jason brown with perfect 10s in PCS as he deserves
🥉: yuzuru hanyu because he can’t not be on the podium (sorry fanyus pls don’t come for me)
ladies:
🥇: wakaba higuchi because i love her
🥈: mariah bell with a clean triple-triple and skating her fs lights OUT
🥉: karen chen also because i love her
pairs:
🥇: sui/han because i want russia to cry
🥈: cain-gribble/leduc because america and we’d get an nb medalist!!
🥉: moore-towers/marinaro because they deserve it and i want them to be able to rub it in james/radford’s stupid faces
dance:
🥇: stepanova/bukin because i adore them
🥈: chock/bates because i like their programs better than hubbell/donahue sry
🥉: gilles/poirier because we need to keep north american ice dance supremacy alive also they’ve really grown on me this quad
this is absolutely not how it’ll go but lmk if you want my actual predictions 😅😅😅
send me curious anons (or non anons idc)

@muselin and @tinysmuttythoughts I'm so sorry for the late reply, I haven't been in the mood for internet the last few days. But oh god, I'm so excited about your answers.
By the way, I apologize in advance for my English... as you may notice it sucks.
Now sit back and let me tell you this story... No, but seriously...
It must have been 2008 when I first got into kpop, but I tried to resist it with all my strength. My two sisters say that I've always had "weird" hobbies in their eyes, and I'd been interested in Japan and its culture (mainly painting and movies) for a while by then, so I kind of naturally ended up getting into Japanese pop and rock as well. Thanks to that, I met one of my best friends online, and we spent hours together online and eventually became friends in real life (she's from the same country as me). But back to the point.
Like I said, I was listening to Japanese pop at the time, but on the online forum I was active on, Korean music was slowly becoming more and more popular. One day a girl on that forum recommended the song Hey! Don't bring me down by TVXQ. That was the very first kpop song I ever heard. I was like 'Okay, sounds good, but I'll stick with the Japanese'. Oh, how naive I was. My friend and I discovered F.T. Island. That was the first Korean band I actively followed. Then 2PM debuted, which is exactly how I remember listening to kpop since 2008. I still avoided Super Junior, though. I knew they existed, but the number of members scared me. So, of course they ended up being my favorite group. Nowadays I only actively follow older groups like Super Junior, F.T. Island, TVXQ. I quite like Shinhwa, because come on, who wouldn't like someone who has survived 24 years in this crazy business. I'm also quite fond of VIXX, Mamamoo (I've seen them live, at a school festival when I was on my study stay in Seoul). or MONSTA X, but otherwise I don't really follow the newer bands, I don't know, I can't get into them. Some of my favorite groups have disbanded or are inactive... like Sistar, 4minute, MBLAQ and f(x).
@tinysmuttythoughts about figure skating... I'm generally a sports enthusiast. I've loved sports since I was a kid and I miss playing sports terribly. I've been in a wheelchair since I was 13 after I had an accident, but until then I was a really active kid. Today I can only watch sports as a fan and I especially like the Olympics. I know the event is problematic for many reasons, but damn how I love it. And figure skating? I've loved watching it since I was a kid, but the years Yuzu's been competing... just wow! It's just a beautiful sport and Yuzuru Hanyu is phenomenal and Shoma Uno is adorable and totally awesome too. And I should probably warn you, the Olympics are coming up in a month, so I apologize in advance for all the posts about sports.

"Look if Jason wouldn’t be from the US he wouldn’t even receive those PCS and that’s all I am saying and it’s the truth, not a myth." Aaaaand that's an immediate sign that nothing else you say is worth my time or energy to consider. I know Hanyu fans are hung up on "he has to be the best and we will consider nothing else even when he screws up", but the fact that you can be so blind as to believe this really doesn't say anything good, buddy.
Lol "buddy" get your ego down...yeah I am a Fanyu, what about it? "It doesn't say anything good" Lol 😂 What makes you superior as a Jason uber?
I think you anon got a full analysis on why Jason Brown is no Olympic medal contender, but you are hung up on my personal opinion that Yuzu is better in PCS than Jason and my sidekick that he wouldn't even be relevant without his federation. Don't you have anything else to say about the rest of the arguments? I guess not and this says more about your blindness than mine.
Let me explain my two points you got so mad about, that you decided to go off in my anon ask - again.
If you truly believe this sport isn't influenced by politics of the big federations like USA and Russia, I congratulate you on ignoring all issues that have been brought to light (Sochi scandal, Salt Lake City 2002 etc) Go to @skatingscores (Twitter) and you can clearly see the bias the judges have towards Russian and American skaters on the big stages and how judges back up their own skaters (US judges were already suspended over the years for judging too "nationalistic") No top level skater wins without backup of their federation, no not even Yuzu (even if you will also see Fanyus claim the opposite). Japan may not be the US, but it is relevant in this sport. And if you look at what content Jason has and what other top level skater deliver there arouses the question what makes him deserving of highest GOEs and PCS when no one else without quads gets them? Don't say he is so much better and deserves all of that, he has an edge problem that is never marked and still keeps getting high GOEs while other skaters of no name countries don't get the pass. The ppl getting a pass are from the political powerhouses in this sport. Why doesn't get someone like Deniss Vasilijews higher PCS for his interesting programs and fine jumps? Because he is from a no name country(not to say he is the same level as Jason just for showing how passports and federations matter) Why doesn't Yan Han get higher PCS when experts say his skating skills match Patrick Chan's? Because wrong passport. (I am ofc talking if the skaters deliver solid programs) (Yeah quads aren't everything and quads should not come massively into play when judging PCS, but I think for complexity of a program it should be relevant if you do quads or not as it needs more time for quads than triples and also if doing only triples leads Jason to good PCS, I don't see how the same can't be applied to other skaters with only triples?) It isn't Jason's fault which country he is representing, but don't dare to believe his passport has no value. Do you really think Jason would be where he is right now when he wouldn't be from the US? Do you think the same Jason representing Latvia like Deniss would get the same points he has now? I don't.
"he (Yuzuru) has to be the best and we will consider nothing else even if he screws up" - where did I say that? First Yuzu's or anyone's PCS should have nothing to do with Yuzu or anyone screwing up or not - it shouldn't affect PCS this severely and the PCS cap rule is one of the dumbest sh*t ever - if all it should influence only in the performance part. Why I think Yuzu is better? Technically Yuzu still has the WR in PCS which makes him the best in the judges eyes like it or not. He is the only skater to reach 98/100 PCS and 49/50 PCS. But even if I think ISU is corrupt as hell all I did was disagree with you. You think Jason is the best, I think Yuzu, Shoma, Kevin are all at least on same or better level performance and interpretation wise and also have good intricate programs (CO) deserving of superb 9s, also other lower level skaters would deserve 9s in PE and IN just that the judges don't use the components as they could to differ much more in each categories, which judges don't do. If we talk about transitions (TR) no one can deny that Yuzu has one of the most complex programs and with quads btw. I think more skaters could do better transitions and have more complex programs if they only skate with triples. I would like to see all skaters skate with triples to really make a call on who is better. Considering quads and the complexity of the program Yuzu should win this department against Jason. Let's look at skating skills (admittedly not my best knowing field) but let us look at the rules:
Tumblr media
I don't say Jason doesn't fullfill any of those things, so I just mention two things I think he covers up well but isn't as precise as some others 1. rhythmic knee actions no one is better than the Japanese skaters (all 3 Shoma, Yuzu, Yuma) - their natural knee bend is a trademark without compare - 2. speed - he is comparably slow. Yuzu, also Shoma accelerate speed without effort (yeah I know Shoma and his damn many crossovers, but it doesn't reduce the fact he doesn't need them for speed.) So for me Jason imo isn't even the best in this department also I mentioned Yan Han, he is better too. Look Jason is a superb skater, I generally like his programs and imo he is among the best skaters PCS wise, but not the best. (And btw PCS are judged like categories nowadays. The difference between the top skaters is so marginal it doesn't make much differences in the end with placements. You cannot win on PCS alone, but on TES)
So that's my many reasons why I think Jason is not the best PCS skater. And I also said I didn't mention other skaters only Yuzu, but now I did, so it's not about me only seeing Yuzu 😉
Also just for the record I may have started the argument about Jason not being a medal contender here, but you were the one to chose to go off in my anon ask and I answered. Also you still didn't share your analysis, but hide behind anon ask, so what do you want from me? Come talk to me and discuss openly?
____
FYI: I don't have anything against Jason, I wish him well. My intention with my analysis and post before wasn't to make Jason look bad in any way, just to put the predictions I have seen in perspective. I would be super happy for him if he would consistently land a quad. I love Jason's lines and his spins are one of the best, I admire his flexibility and also admire that he has programs true to himself. I may not be the biggest Jason stan, but I like him as a skater and especially what I see from him as a person.
To everyone you can ask me anything and I will answer with my opinion and my knowledge on this sport, if you don't like it, that's your problem. 🤷‍♀️
Again a long post - sorry not sorry.

Figure Skater!AU with Jimin
moodboard link
Group: BTS
Member: Park Jimin
Genre: fluff, romance
Type: Bulletpoint AU
Word Count: approx. 2.1k
I think Jimin would make a fantastic ice skater
like Olympic gold kind of ice skater
have you seen this man’s form when he’s dancing? now just imagine that with skates
even tho homeboy is a lil clumsy
(*cue the compilation of him falling off chairs on his own*)
but yeah, he’s an ice skater and he’s beautiful—thank you for coming to my ted talk
just kidding
kind of
so Jimin started young
his dad signed him up for dance classes originally
and Jimin loved it
but then Jimin went ice skating
he struggled at first, but after a couple of tries, he got the hang of it and he fell in love with it gradually
and it was history from there
it was like a slow burn love rather than instant and that’s what makes him so committed
Jimin still does dance every once in a while, but he really committed himself to ice skating and got really good
he entered an amateur ice skating contest and actually won (to the much of his shock)
and then homeboy kept winning and winning and next thing you know
he’s in the top ten ranking for ice skating in Korea and that meant Olympics and well
while he hasn’t won like gold or anything
he’s been super close to it and that proves how good he is tho
these competitions are basically him dancing on ice
it’s such a wild card because he has so much range
one time he did classical music and incorporated elements of ballet
another time he did a Big Bang song and everyone was not prepared
he’s absolutely eating these performances up and still managing to feed it to ice skating fanatics
speaking of which, he’s pretty well known in the ice skating world
especially since he basically captures everyone with his performances
and his face
but also his butt
it’s everything
everyone loves jimin
does Jimin know it?
there are times he uses it (like getting Yoongi to buy him snacks)
and other times, he’s 1000000% oblivious to it
you know how people throw winnie the pooh bears at Yuzuru Hanyu?
anything that looks remotely cute is thrown at Jimin
so you can just…. imagine
he’s gotten so many of those gigantic stuffed dogs since people say he resembles a puppy
but he started getting thrown otter plushies
which he didn’t think was a thinguntil a bunch of people started throwing for him and now he gets an obscure amount of otter plushies when his performances are done
because lbr, Jimin is super affectionate, loves his family and is super cute
otter = Jimin
speaking of performances tho, the bts boys always try to make his competitions
they’re super supportive as always
Seokjin always brings snacks and Namjoon always brings flowers
Hoseok cheers the loudest (obviously) and waves a lot of flags like some goddamned color guard
and Taehyung and Jungkook bring signs that are supposed to be supportive… but then like
it’ll say shit like “Korea’s Thighs! PARK JIMIN”
Yoongi: “guys, it’s supposed to be Korea’s pride……”
Jungkook: “well, it’s already made” :)
Taehyung: :)
anyways
they’re like the most attractive group of people in one spot, so even if you only came there for Jimin, you’ll get like six more attractive pieces of eye candy to look at
(which is probably why Jimin’s crowds are noticeably bigger)
there was this one time tho that this one dude was competing, saw Seokjin and almost tripped
I mean who wouldn’t
but Jimin had to deal with Seokjin’s ego for the next week and it was a pain in the ass
speaking of pain in the ass, Jimin spends a ton of time to practice at the ice rink
he’s basically a perfectionist when it comes to his performances and he ends up spending all day there
there’s usually his manager, his trainer, and one of his friends
they all come in rounds to make sure he isn’t going insane
this is actually how you meet him
you happened to be there one day to ice skate with some of your friends
only, here’s the catch
you cannot ice skate for shit and you are very aware of it
it took a couple of bribes of free food and hot cocoa that led you out of the house and into the skates
realistically speaking you could’ve stood on the side, but they were like come onnnnn
and, like an idiot, you let them peer pressure you into getting into the rink
and now you’re grasping on the rail for dear life and your friends are all making fun of you and recording it on their phone bc ✨memories✨ or some other crap
well, not all of them
two of them are skating next to you to help hold you up and convince you to let go of the rail
and this is where things kind of go awry
basically, let’s just say that your friends got a little distracted by some of Jimin’s friends (i.e. Jungkook and Taehyung) who were visiting him
they were on the rails, watching and supporting Jimin
looking handsome and shit
ofc your friends dropped you—they were distracted
lbr, you would have been distracted too but you couldn’t be
because when they let go of you….
you fell flat on your face
like flat flat on the ice and a part of your soul died
you kind of got stuck and struggled getting up, especially since you kept falling back down on the skates
and then another pair of skates appeared and a hand reached out to you—aligning with your vision
Jimin: “do you need some help?”
You: “yes please”
he manages to get you up and you manage to stabilize yourself as he holds you up with both hands
while you’re trying to balance yourself, he chuckles to himself at the sight
you’re basically clinging onto him at this point but he doesn’t really mind
you’re cute
You: “I’m so sorry, this was not my idea”
Jimin: “first time skating?”
You: “um, actually, no”
You: “this is like my third time”
You: “I’m just a klutz and my friends are assholes”
Jimin: “oh?”
You: “not like that, but also like that”
he spends a bit more time skating with you to help you out for a bit
next thing you know, you’re spending another hour with him
laughing
chatting
learning more about one another
as you held onto his hands and skated around with him
it’s a fun
he’s basically done practicing and, even afterwards, you two got some hot cocoa from the stand
(along with his number)
it was a super cute lowkey first date
as you two texted and got to know each other a bit more, he invited you to another rink where he practices
when you walked in, no one else was present—it was just him, on the ice, in the middle of a routine
you quietly get closer, admiring the gratefulness that is displayed until you’re at the rails
when he’s finished, you applaud
indirectly scaring him, causing him to break his form and practically fall onto the ice
You: “oh my god!”
you run over to him, checking if he’s okay
You: “I didn’t mean to scare you, I’m sorry”
Jimin: “it’s okay, I didn’t know you got here”
You: “yo, that was really good tho—you should do this as a job or something”
Jimin: “..... this is my job tho?”
Jimin: “I’m an Olympic ice skater”
You: w h a t
you two spend a bit more time in the rink, especially since he’s preparing for the Olympics once more
so you’re like friends, but like there’s something more (͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
speaking of friends, you’ve met some of his
wild times
especially since Taehyung tried to show up Jimin on the skates and then falls on his face
Namjoon was self-monologuing as per usual
Seokjin was admiring his reflection on the ice, but still making as many dad jokes as possible
meanwhile Hoseok was trying to maintain balance but Yoongi was trying to trip him
Jimin: “I’m so sorry”
You: “why? this is hilarious”
they all know what’s going on tho, especially since all of them have met you at least once
*cut to Jungkook making fun of Jimin at some point*
things don’t really change until he has his first performance and you’re in the crowd (sitting with the boys obviously)
(for which you got a lot of stares for)
you cheered for him really loud before and after his performance
and you came with a cute sign
(“KOREA’S ICE PRINCE PARK JIMIN”)
and it’s bigger than Taehyung and Jungkook’s embarrassing one
it wasn’t until the scores were released and Jimin’s adrenaline rush came through
with all the congratulatory remarks and celebratory mood, he was in the locker rooms to get ready for the party his family was setting up at home
his coach let you him since he knew no one else was present
you lightly knock on the doorway to let him know of your presence
*unfortunately* he’s already clothed by the time you’re there
You: “congratulations, I knew you would get first place”
You: “I got you flowers, but I didn’t know if you were allergic, so I got plastic ones”
Jimin gives you a charming smile, with his eyes turning into crescents
Jimin: “thanks, you can set them down if you would like”
you seat yourself on a nearby bench as he brushes through his hair and puts on his shoes and whatnot
Jimin: “are you coming to the party?”
You: “I don’t know if I’m invited”
Jimin: “well, I’m inviting you—if you would like to go”
You: “like………. together?”
Jimin: “yeah, you can be my date?”
you both show up to the party with your hands held together
:)
your dates are mainly at the ice rink for the rest of the season
whether you’re skating with him or just watching him practice and reminding him to take breaks, both mental and physical
you’ve improved your ice skating abilities btw
considering your boyfriend is a professional ice skater
you always make time to go to his performances and you absolutely refuse to miss a single one even if you’ve seen it a thousand times when he practices
there’s just so much gracefulness and agility and Jimin’s so beautiful to watch
and he’s so glad to have found someone who supports his dream as much as he chases after it
also you asked him to dance to Twice once as a joke and he actually did it for a performance so
now you have many requests and ideas
Jungkook: “tell him to do One of a Kind by GD”
You: “why don’t you tell him?”
Jungkook: “because he doesn’t listen to me”
Yoongi: “I think he would know if it was your idea even if (Y/N) is the one who told him to do it”
Jimin: “I’m not doing GD”
Jungkook: “wow okay”
anyways
after the season is done, your dates have more range
he’s a big softie and it’s 1000% applied to relationships
so that means lots of romantic walks, coffee dates, picnics
of course lots of restaurant dates when he’s off his diet
in which you always pinch his cheeks bc he looks so cute with puffy cheeks
but there’s some dates where you two just stay in and watch some movies but you get a bit distracted with his plump lips and nice torso………. however you want to take that information
since he’s so used to the cold at the ice skating rink, it also means he loves to just pile blankets onto the two of you
but also he needs cuddles and it gets super heated real quick
and I mean like heated heated because of his body heat and the giant blankets
altho, it could also be heated
you two built a blanket fort once and it was knocked down real quick - in what ways? I’ll leave that to your imagination
oh and since you’re openly so supportive for him
he tries to reciprocate it
even if it’s the most mundane things
he wanted to make a sign for you once
Jimin: “do you have bigger banner paper?”
You: “why?”
Jimin: “I can’t fit in THE LOVE OF MY LIFE: HONEY SUGAR BABY CUTIEPIE”
Jimin: ………… “now that I’ve said it outloud, I think I’ll just save it for my phone or something”
You: “yeah, let’s never say that again”
you repeated it back to him once and you don’t think you’ve ever seen him this flushed since that one fan tried to propose to him
he’s a shy baby
kind of
because he needs a lot of attention and a lot of praise
but if you do it in front of other people, he will combust
anyways we’re all simps for Jimin and it’s great we’re having fun

Continues ~with Wings~ Day 1 / Talk with Johnny
Translation post 35
Original language: Japanese (except Johnny’s comments)
Translator’s note: This is not a word-for-word translation. I paraphrased some of the things said in the broadcast to clarify the main point.
Day 1 28:32-42:48
(After Jeff Buttle finished skating "For Forever")
PA announcer: From here, we are going to present to you an entertaining talk section between a guest skater and Hanyu san. What kind of talk will they have? Can't wait to hear it! Now, ladies and gentlemen, please welcome to the stage, Yuzuru Hanyu!
(Hanyu goes on stage while Let's Go Crazy is being played)
Hanyu: OK. Hello, everyone. (Laughs) You know, this makes me so nervous.
(Audience laugh)
Hanyu: I am really nervous... Uhm, fortunately, this time, so many... well, not so many, but great skaters have kindly gathered here for this show, and we have this talk session, so I would like to interview skaters that I love to interview. This is such a section. So, please watch this thinking that I am reporter Yuzuru Hanyu. (Laughs) Now, let me introduce our guest, Mr. Johnny Weir!
(Johnny goes on stage dancing to Lady Gaga's Poker Face)
Hanyu: (After exchanging a hug with Johnny) Thank you. (Gladly) He gave me a nice hug.
(Audience laugh)
Hanyu: (In English) Please sit down.
Johnny: (To the audience) Konbanwa. (=Good evening) Hehehe. Arigato gozaimasu. (=Thank you so much)
(Johnny, Hanyu, Kaori Niimura (MC and interpreter) take their seats)
Hanyu: OK.
Johnny: Don’t be nervous!
Hanyu: I am, already. (Laughs) OK. (Opening a notebook on his lap) Now I would like to throw questions I would like to ask one by one!
Johnny: Special interview book, Yuzu kun?
Hanyu: Yeah! (After hearing Johnny's words through Niimura san) Hehehe. Hahaha~. OK, first question. What do you like most about figure skating, Johnny san?
Johnny: The thing I like most about figure skating is the ability to take my audience away, away from everyday normalcy, away from bad things, even away from good things. I like to transport my audience with me when I’m performing because, for me, it’s my happy place, and it’s my honor and joy to be able to skate for my fans, for my audience. My favorite part about it. And also it’s very fast.
Hanyu: (Nods with a big smile)
Hanyu: (After hearing Niimura san’s translation) I agree. Wow, great answer. Uhm, is figure skating a sport for you? Or is it art?
Johnny: Both. Hehehe… For me, I of course like the artistry of skating. It’s what made me interested in figure skating when I watched Oksana Baiul won the Olympic Games. Her artistry, her costuming, and the ability to make the world stand up is what caught my attention with figure skating. Of course, I love to jump, I love to spin, but just… the ability to perform to music and show people your heart is the most attractive thing of figure skating to me.
Hanyu: (After hearing Niimura san’s translation) Now you mentioned Oksana Baiul senshu... or Should I call Oksana Baiul san? Is there anyone, including non-figure skaters or animation characters that you admire as your hero, idol, or role model?
Johnny: So, I have a long list… When I just started to skate, my heroes were Irina Srutskya san and Evgeny Plushenko.
Hanyu: (As Niimura san is translating) Wow. I didn't know that...
Johnny: And of course, through my carrier, I have admired so many celebrities, and singers and actors, but the people that I most admire, I think, are Christina Aguilera, and Lady Gaga because they are individuals, they are unique, and they let their talent speak for them.
Hanyu: Uh-huh.
Johnny: (After Niimura san finished translating) And now that I am an old lady... (Laughs) I have to watch some skaters to make myself want to go practice and want to train because life is so busy now. Thus for me, I need some inspiration. So, of course, I watch videos and listen to the songs of my heroes. But now, to make me excited to go skating and to practice, I watch Evgenia Medvedeva and Yuzuru Hanyu.
(Audience applaud while Hanyu is bowing down feeling awkward)
Hanyu: (After Niimura san finished translating) Thank you so much. Well, er... As you know, the theme of this show is "Continues," and uh... now I heard that Johnny san used to admire Pluschenko san... and Srutskya san as well. I, of course, have my own list of skaters I admire, and Plushenko san is one of them, and after Johnny san went up, I mean, grew up and became one of the skaters I could watch on TV, I got fascinated by Johnny san's performances. I think it is amazing that we have such a connection, and it gave me goosebumps.
Johnny: Arigato, Yuzu kun.
Hanyu: Goosebumps... Oh, it has already been translated. (Laughs) OK. There is a thing I found intriguing in your comment, so... although I have prepared cue cards and questions, I am going to skip them. You mentioned Lady Gaga, and I would like to ask a little more about it. "Poker Face" was played here a while ago. When you pick a piece of music for your program, do you choose it by yourself, or is there someone who inspires you to pick it?
Johnny: I always choose my music. I am this kind of character where I have to be in control of every piece of what I present to the world, because, in my opinion, you never get a second chance to make a first impression. (Listens to Niimura san as she translates his comment) So when I choose music, it can be a very long process. Sometimes I would be driving my car and sometimes comes on the radio, and I’m like, “(Gasps) I have to skate to that!” but usually, the music that touches my heart are the pieces that I use, and then… when I am able to skate with my heart, my audience can feel that. So, whether it’s Poker Face or Ave Maria, everything comes from my heart, and that makes my performances so much more interesting for me to skate every day.
(Johnny and Hanyu wait for Niimura san to finish her translation. As she gets close to the end of translation, they applaud her for her skill and effort since the comment is very long)
Hanyu: (As Niimura san finished her translation) Wonderful.
Johnny: (To Niimura san) Such a long translation. I am sorry. (Laughs)
Hanyu: (To Niimura san) Do we still have time?
Niimura: Yes.
Hanyu: We do? OK. So... you make your programs getting inspirations from many things. When I see you performing such a program, I get the impression that beauty and passion coexist in your performance. This impression intensified after you turned professional. (Wait a moment for Niimura san to catch up and finds out that she is also waiting for him) Uh... Hehehe... Well, actually, during practice sessions, Johnny san devotes much time to jumps as well. He attempts 3A too. I have said this once in a press conference, but I strongly feel that all the techniques, including jumps, are the essential components of expression and artistry, and I wonder what jumps in a program means to Johnny san. I love Johnny san’s programs so much, and I think they will hold even without jumps, but only with spins, steps, and his performance, so I wonder how Johnny san position jumps in his skating.
Johnny: Arigatou. (Laughs) Uh… for me, I still practice all of my jumps because I think life is a continuous struggle to be better than yourself, and every day whether it’s as an athlete or as a person, to be better than the day before. So, that’s why I still practice all of my jumps. For the performances, I do, sometimes, easier jumps because it’s important for me to make sure the show is good, and now that I am professional, I have that ability to, sort of, do this. I don’t need to do so many quads. (Looks at Hanyu and nods, touching Hanyu's arm)
Hanyu: (Returns nods and laughs)
Johnny: Hehe... And uh… Yeah, what drives me to be better every day is the fact that I can be better than the day before. So for me, the performance needs to be very artistic, and I want people to laugh and cry, whatever the feeling I want them to be with me on the ice, and uh… it’s the emotion that drives me.
Hanyu: (Nods deeply and listens to Niimura san's translation) I see... (Applauds)
Niimura: (Off-mic) It's about time.
Hanyu: OK. Thank you so much. Although I have so many things I want to ask you, looks like time is up. I am so sad to have to end this section, but Johnny Weir san, thank you so much! (Bows)
Johnny: (Bows to Hanyu) Arigatou gozaimashita. (To the audience) Arigatou gozaimasu.
(They stood up and leave the stage)
PA announcer: Thank you very much. That was a fun talk. Everyone, please give a big hand to Hanyu san and Johnny Weir san again! Thank you, Johnny! Thank you, Yuzuru!

Four Continents 2020 - Men’s FS: Group 4
My heart is soft at Keegan watching Nam’s FS before his group’s warmup - and the HUG !
Post will update as the event goes on
Keegan Messing
ouch that solo quad toe landing was rough - double hands down
keegan pls hold it together
i am a sucker for knee choreo
that’s an...interesting sit spin position - has he done that before?
full butt landing on that triple... sigh
wait he was supposed to combo that jump ??? oh rip where is the emergency combo gonna be
there are so many split jumps in the house tonight
a hydroplane ?? dude keegan who r u ??
this was rough - he really fought for it at the end though
Yuma Kagiyama
Yuma just looks so tiny but I know he’s so powerful (he’s the japanese junior champion and earned bronze at japanese senior nationals this season)
so far so good - he’s been as clean as a whistle
really beautiful triple axel combo
yuma is overall really technically sound - can’t wait for him to grow into the performance aspect a little more
okay, we’re seeing some of that in the choreo and step sequences, now that he’s not focusing on jumps
awwww his cute little happy nod when he finished!
Junhwan Cha
JUUUUUN !!! my favorite mushroom boy
this instrumental is dramatic
good start with the quad toe
clean quad sal !! give it to us jun (please podium pls pls)
triple axel combo goot
oh wow the timing on that solo triple axel is so emphatic, i love
god i’m getting goosebumps
i love his layback ina bauer - it’s just so elegant, it’s nothing fancy in terms of crazy flexibility, but it’s just so nice
wow the crowd is really going nuts at every jump
his spread eagle with the port au bras armssss
wow - he really made this happen back at home
i’m so proud of him !! i’m not crying at all
Yuzuru Hanyu
god celery seimei here we go (someone said yuzu nctzen confirmed in my group chat and i lost it)
i love seimei but i really hope this season is the last time i see it for comps
that first quad was so tilted - bruh
okay we’re back on track with the quad sal
i will never get over his backcounter entry on the 3A (like i will still compare other axels to that in ten years time)
ahh yes, the seimei step sequence sexy catwalks (i’m sorry i have no other way of phrasing it)
another tilted quad - oof and then a fall on quad toe
this was a rollercoaster jump wise - i guess that’s what we get for enjoying a flawless chopin earlier
it doesn’t matter if yuzuru’s kinda “meh” about this performance, it will still rain poohs
lmao literally that one point from the fall prevented him from breaking 300 total
on another note, i completely forgot that we truncated the men’s free by 30s so i thought i was hallucinating how temporally close together yuzu’s jumps were
Boyang Jin
go boyang go !!
the distance of his quad lutz always scares tf out of me - he stuck that landing though
oopsy popped salchow to a double
dude he’s popcorning so hard - what are you doing boyanggg, please get your head on straight
not a fan of the stand-still choreo
okay, there we go, the jumps are back
he’s back in the game and fighting for it
this wasn’t his best run, and he knows it
it wasn’t a disaster, but there were just too many mental breaks :(
Jason Brown
Ready for Jason to hit me with those lines and mega GOEs on his triples
Triple axel combo, check
man group 4 is really just popcorning everywhere huh (then again i’ll take a popcorn party over a splatfest any day)
group 4 also just wants to kill me with all the pretty layback ina bauers
i haven’t seen jason’s spirals in so long, but i fall in love with them all over again every time
that’s such a nice biellman spin position
that dramatique ending pose though
and his “happy with it” smile :) !!
So in conclusion...
Yuzu finally won 4CC for the first time ever, Jason 2nd place !! heck yeah !! and tiny yuma in 3rd

Note
I was thinking of what skaters you like most overall, male or female, but since you've done a top 5 for the men, I'd love to see one for the women too.
Oh, right. Sorry, I misunderstood 😅 (in my defense I had just woken up from an unplanned nap and was a bit sleep hungover)
Rika Kihira: she is super impressive and so well rounded
Alena Kostornaia: another pretty well rounded skater and I just love her interpretation
Evgenia Medvedeva: I’ve always loved her, and she’s grown and improved so much since she’s moved to Canada for training
Satoko Miyahara: Maybe not the greatest jumper, but she’s magic on the ice
Kaori Sakamoto: Personally I find it is always an utter joy to watch her.
And now for my completely 100% personal and subjective top 5 of figure skater:
Shoma Uno: He was my skating first love when I got really into fs beyond watching it as a kid with my gran and there’s just something about him that draws me in like no one else has
Jason Brown: he is one of the best performers and artists on the ice and whenever I feel down I watch his Riverdance from 2014 nationals. Also, he’s just pure sunshine condensed in human form
Evgenia Medvedeva: I’ve always liked her, but she was never really my favourite but she’s grown on me like a fungus and I just adore her and her skating nowadays (I blame Lou :P)
Yuzuru Hanyu: he’s just pure magic
Kaori Sakamoto: I adore her skating, her energy, everything
(Honourable mentions: Junhwan, Boyang, Han Yan, Eunsoo, Alina Zagitova, Satoko, Karen Chen, Kevin Aymoz)
God, the overall top 5 was difficult, I love entirely too many skaters to be good for my nerves during competitions
Thanks for the ask, darling 💕
