     the one that broke out was an unfortunately large scuffle over a failed pick - pocketing.  a sinner swung,  hit someone in a group,  &&  then several passerby found themselves involved.  after ten minutes,  vox huffed impatiently  &&  arrived on the scene to scare them off  &&  call the cleaners.  it required little more than a strike of his electricity through the air to accomplish as much.  he nearly left,  too,  when it seemed like all was well,  until he spotted a slightly familiar figure on the ground.

was that who he thought it was?

     if it were anyone else,  anywhere else,  even,  he might have turned on his heel anyway  &&  taken off.  left them to handle their own day.  but he was near his home,  &&  he was almost positive he recognized them.

he  owed  her.

     he didn't hesitate,  pulling her up to look her over.  bumps  &&  bruises,  nothing too terrible that he could see,  for now.  clawed fingers gently move the locks away from her face,  peering at her skin  &&  eyes,  checking for signs of harm there,  too.

Yes, we all know that Kyoshi would be a mess without her and would probably either neglect herself to the point of dying or kill herself, but you know who else knows this?

Rangi.

I'm picturing Rangi on her deathbed, terrified of this eventuality, with her last breath begging Kyoshi not to die for her, to take care of herself.

Of course even with this, Kyoshi, despairing tries anyways and gets damn close.

But at the last second, she stops. She can hear Rangi almost see her crying in front of her, begging her not to do this.

So she lives, and keeps up her meditation because every morning she can picture Rangi, crying, begging her to keep going. To live for her.

So, over two centuries pass with several attempts, moments she almost gives in, almost let's go. The memory of Rangi stops her each time.

In the end though time takes its toll on her memory, her voice, her face, it all fades away.

Her grief and pain does not, only worsening with the realization she does not remember her love, her joy.

She can't remember her insistence on stupid horse stance training, their kiss on the beach, what made her laugh, what made her cry. Not even what either of those sounded like.

So-at last- when she tries, no voice, no tears, no face comes to stop her, to beg her to fulfill her final wish.

A wish she can't even remember.

oh BIG MOOD. i was obSESSED with warrior cats for AGES. like. lowkey baby's first true hyperfixation. i deVOURED those books. they were typically too expensive for my family to buy (esp coz there were SOO many of them) so every time a new one would come out i'd beg my mom to bring me to the bookstore and then i'd straight up just sit in the aisle and read the entire thing then and there.

warrior cats is definitely, like, a huge part of what truly got me into drawing/writing/storytelling. i used to dedicate hours to illustrating scenes from those books. i had four HUGE handmade posters up on my wall as a tween with each and every cat from each and every clan that i'd update as the allegiances changed in the books. i used to design 'warriorsonas' for each and every one of my classmates because i was a super normal child. warriors is how i got into roleplaying, which was definitely a huge influence on my writing-- i read in an interview when i was, like, 11 that the erins sometimes got inspiration for warrior names from roleplay sites, and i was like!!!!! omg i have to start roleplaying on roleplay sites so that one of my warrior names get into the books!!!!

but i still obSESSIVELY roleplayed online for YEARS, i'd draw all my characters and draw my friends' characters, too, and scenes from the rps. we'd all write PARAGRAPHS upon paragraphs with, like, proper grammar and everything (because at that age and in those circles, roleplaying *with actions in asteriks* and stuff was CRINGE and everyone KNEW that the LONGER you wrote the BETTER your writing was, obvs, and that was the only factor--) i spent, like, every waking moment on this massive chatroom-based site called kugyay that had, like, hundreds and thousands of users in its heyday. granted, like, most people had more than one account (so you could have a custom profile for each character, obvi) but i remember everyone freaked out when we hit more than 10,000 accounts.

i could talk about my experience with warrior cats and all my various ocs for... like.... ages. also like. this is random and won't mean anything to most people, esp coz i only posted, like, a few pages about it, but i also want y'all to know that this graphic novel that i desperately want to bring to life and do justice someday and that i've dedicated SOOO much time thinking about is... like....... 1000% inspired by/based on warrior cats lowkey. like. i am infected. forever and ever.

how did you get that kind of job without a university marketing degree or whatever? i'm kinda struggling here :(((((

it was a (relatively) long process of trial and error and a lot of freelance work/not having a stable income but basically to break it down. a few yrs ago i went to careers advice and asked how to maximise my future prospects or whatever and the first thing they said was add ALLL of ur skills onto your resume even if youve never used them in a job role before. if you're proficient in (or capable of learning) excel, photoshop, adobe creative suite, wordpress, social media, copywriting, seo software....even if youve never used it in a professional capacity its rly good to kind of emphasize ur digital skill set as much as possible and start researching it as much as possible too. then i started a wordpress blog and would write copywriting articles on there (or in google docs) even though i had no one to send them to lol just to build a portfolio that i could send out to freelance content and copy writer agencies who were hiring. there's tons of tips and articles and pdfs online that can help you write great articles and help u learn content design. anyway i did this for a longgggg time and finally got some actual freelance work coming in. from this, i started interviewing for actual full time copywriting jobs, and was hired to intern at a digital agency at the end of 2021. did that for months then went back to freelance but was able to get more projects with my slowly growing experience. while doing freelance i was interviewing for a shit ton of full time copywriting and content management roles, most of which i got rejected from after like the 1st interview. finally i heard back from a team i had interviewed for and they had me give a presentation outlining my approach to copywriting/media managemenet and from that they've hired me and ive been really really lucky that they have. unfortunately that's what i think it was more than anything, like a stroke of luck that they saw smth in me and took me on despite me unconventional background. im rly rly grateful to them for it. i would also encourage you to look for literally any volunteer opportunities in admin, soc media, bookkeeping - it looks rly good on the resume and can sometimes expand into a job. also look up general cv tips cause there's a ton of cheatsheets out there that can help you get yours to the top of the pile or near the top. good luck and im really sorry you're struggling atm!! ive absolutely been there and it's honestly so discouraging, the amt of times i quit job hunting while doing freelance out of sheer despair was a lot. it's hard but there are ways to show what you have to offer in a really favourable light, and the more you interview/resume edit/write the better you will get. it's all one horrible big skill at least that's how it felt to me, and i still suck at it. just clawing my way up TBH. anyway sending you a lot of love ❤️ hope you catch the break u deserve soon. where'd you draw inspiration for T&TA and how long did it take you to comprise a legible script [a fellow, curious- and pretty young writer]

The most immediate inspirations for Time and Time Again were Jaws, Quantum Leap, and Psych. I grew up watching a ton of detective type shows and so there's a lot of background radiation in my brain taken up by those. I tend not to take much stock in inspiration though, and generally am comfortable just powerhousing through things (it's kind of what I went to school for). Inspiration happens when it happens, but if it doesn't, my work still needs to get done!

It took me about 7 months to write the first season, which is 4 complete stories. To be clear, though, I don't script! I outline major character events, and then I make about 100 more detailed outlines until I get to one that hits all the development points I want and feels interesting to me. This takes me weeks of writing sometimes 10+ pages a day, putting together boards with strings, etc. until I feel I've got an outline of events that I'm happy with!

I actually get to writing and finessing dialogue while I'm making thumbnails, and 1 episode can take me anywhere from a day to 2 weeks. The longest ones are when they're arguing, and I'm struggling with the minutiae of the implications of their words, where I want them both to be sympathetic without making their dialogue feel unnatural.

So, one complete arc takes me about 4-6 months from start to finish, I think.

My writing is at its best when I get to plan everything up front, and it's at its worst when I'm forced to deliver week-to-week and I can't see the whole story as it is. But, I've also been writing for a long time and I know myself and my process pretty well! Every writer is different, and some people need a lot more time than others. Let yourself relax, don't try to do things "the right way" because there is no right way. Just make stories! Make the process fun for you, and your skills will grow the more stories you tell. As long as you're having fun, the stories are serving their purpose.

i am still going a bit bonkers and spending all too much time alone in my room but i've been getting my stuff together for therapy and teaching myself a bit of piano and i have read some good books lately!!

the last thing i finished was joan by katherine j chen, which was a super well written historical fictional retelling of joan of arc's life. she's such a vague and largely unrelatable historical figure to modern audiences but this novel did such a good job of breathing life into her. i would def recommend to anyone into historical fiction!!

and before that i read midnight in the garden of good and evil by john berendt, which was stolen from my mom's bookshelf and really positively surprised me. it's so full of rich characters and descriptions and all these fun arcs and details that make you feel like you're part of this 1980s savannah community. and then about half way through it turns into a court room drama?? and then i found out it's actually technically non-fiction and, while names are changed and some parts are edited/embellished, written by a journalist who actually went to savannah and followed the whole thing? so well-written and fascinating. i want to go to savannah

and then right now i'm reading pigs in heaven by barbara kingsolver and i'm really enjoying that, too. i read its prequel bean trees back in sophomore high (i wrote my year 10 research paper about it) and am really rediscovering my love for kingsolver and the characters through it. the little girl named turtle is in a way the origin for my tortle nickname :)
