Summary: reader gives him space while he is on tour and Calum starts to worry.

A/N: alright so I got this from the kissing booth 2, so yeah lol. I usually know what to type in here but I somehow lost how to do it. anyway hope you enjoy and remember feedback is always allowed! love you all! also sorry if this is too short.

Calum had been leaving for a tour and you just knew every inch of you was going to miss him, you had no idea how the distance would affect your relationship, but you knew that you would have to give him some sort of freedom when he was doing something that he was so passionate about. You trusted him with all your heart and knew he would be as loyal as you were back home.

As he was packing he had asked for your help, you didn't really know how to act, so you just stood quite, cal noticed the small change in your attitude, you were more quiet and this worried cal that tour might be a dealbreaker for you and change your mind but you were actually the complete opposite. You were very proud of him and the band and the support you had was all there, you were just going to miss him which was normal since he was going away, but you didn't want to be that clingy girlfriend.

Cal stopped with what he was doing and was the first to break the silence, “hey, you alright love?” he said as you looked up with a frown, “yeah im okay, why?” you asked as you placed his clothing in the suitcase and he took your hands in his, “i just, uh you seem kinda distant since i told you i was going away for tour,” he said as you sighed, “sorry i didn't mean it to seem like that, i'm just gonna miss you is all cal, i’ve honestly never really experienced this ever, sorry-” you said as he cut you off softly, “no- it's okay, sorry i forget that sometimes, i'm gonna miss you too, so much, you are it for me you know that, i'll come back to you. I promise.” he said as he placed you on his lap as you smiled and pushed his hair out of his face, “i know you will bubs, and i will be here waiting for you, you're the only one for me.” you said as he smiled and took you in a hug wanting to be close to you, close to the point where he could feel your heartbeat.

Ever since he left, your days would go on much slower than usual, you had duke with you since cal wanted you to have some company and you were okay to watch him as well so he could work without worrying. Him leaving for tour wasn't the first time, but you still needed to get used to it. It was normal to have the need to want to see him but you didn't want to bother him while he was one tour. Of course you messaged him about duke and let him know how he was doing, you didn't really talk about yourself or about him. There was some constant communication within one another but it was small and cal wanted more. He didn't know how to ask, but he wanted more than the small texts you were answering. He had even talked to the guys about it wanting some advice. He was worried you were going to break up with him because of the distance.

“I don't know how to ask her i want more, i feel like i established what we are when i left,” he said as ashton nodded, “did you two talk before you left?” he asked as cal shook his head, “no we didn't, things were fine the way i left, we are fine now, but i'm just worried something is gonna happen..” he said as luke and michael were both in on this conversation, “like what?” michael asked as cal sighed, “what if she's breaking up with me, thats why shes not talking to me” he said as luke shook his head, “maybe she's giving you space like, having you worry less about what she may be going through,” ashton said as luke elaborated, “yeah she might think that traveling and going on tour is enough on your plate, she doesn't want to be a bothersome or clingy. Not saying she is, but this is probably what she feels or thinks.” he said as michael nodded, “yeah i agree with that, you two just need to talk and you need to reassure her and tell her what you want and what you are.” he said as calum nodded knowing that he would call you after the show.

“What if she doesn't want to, what if she doesn't answer” he said as ashton spoke, “well text her before hand, tell you her you want to talk before she goes to sleep.” he said as michael nodded, “ask her about her day and stuff,” he said as luke nodded, “yeah and then bring in the conversation,” luke said as cal nodded.

After their show he had called you but there was no answer, nothing from you not even a text back. You on the other hand had seen the phone ring but of course thought the absolute worst and didn't answer the call. The messages, yeah you saw them, again you didn't respond. It was around 12 at night and you were starting to feel guilty about not answering and you texted him first reading the text.

Honestly what could you say. You didn't know what to say at all. You didn't want him worrying about you. He had his tour and that's what you wanted him to focus on. His tour. That's it. He could worry about you when he got back. Your mind would keep telling you to leave him be and to not be clingy so you listened to the small voice, but you didn't know how much it was affecting Cal that you weren't talking to him.

It Sounds so weird to say, but I mean you didn't want to be that clingy girlfriend who just always talked to her boyfriend 24/7. You didn't want to ruin his tour experiences by you always being there. Which was one of the reason why you didn't go on tour when he had asked you if you could come. To be frank you had saved sick days, but you didn't want to bother him, you didn't want him and his friends to feel weird with you being there, even if all their girlfriends were going.

You were at work just finishing up some emails as normal as you saw your phone light up with calum’s name on your screen.

Hey dovey, whats up?

You looked at the screen and just went straight back to your computer not wanting to answer fast and making you seem like you had missed him a lot, again your overthinking brain was doing the analyzing and not you. A couple minutes later it had vibrated again and you got into the chat but didn't type you just looked at the message.

You there?

You sighed and you were contemplating on what you should do, you thought just call him and talk to him, but a part of you was telling you to not call him since he could be busy.

Seconds later your boss came towards you as you frowned, “hey you have a phone call from your dad called, he said it's some family emergency and urgent” she said as you were quick to your feet wondering why your dad called you at work knowing that he had your phone number.

“The phones over there,” she said as you nodded and walked over to the office and picked up the phone, “hello?” you said as you heard his voice, “whats going on with you?” you heard cal say as your eyes went wide as you coughed, “what- what do you mean dad?” you said pretending to be shocked as you looked over at your boss as she looked at you with worry, “why aren't you texting me back.” he said as you tried to find an excuse to leave you alone to talk to cal.“oh-what? That's terrible horrible news about...Aunt...Pepper.” you said as your boss looked over at you, “is everything okay?” she asked as you looked at her with a sad look, “no, uh could i have a moment in private?” you asked as she nodded leaving you in the office alone as you were brought back to the situation, “why are you pretending to be my dad?” you asked as he sighed, “it was the only way i could think to get you on the phone” he said worried as you sighed, “oh that is not true” you said as he shook his head, “no it is true, you barely call and when you text, you send these weird two-word text messages, like you kno, “take care” and “talk soon.” he said as you sighed and he thought the worst wondering why this was happening, “are-are you breaking up with me?” he asked as you were quick to respond, “what no no no no! The opposite.” you said as he spoke back, “then what? Why? Why are you ignoring me dovey?” he asked as you exhaled, “cal, i..i don't know, well i'm trying to be mature and not come off as some clingy girlfriend,”  you said as he frowned, “y/n, i told you i wanted to make this work,” he said as you sighed opening up to him, “yeah i know but people always say that when they leave. I guess I'm just giving you space. you know for tour and stuff, i don't want to bother you with texts and facetime calls.” you said as he frowned, “space for what love? I don't want space, I want you. I want you all around me all the time. I want you right now with me” he said as you smiled at his words.

“Im sorry cal, i miss you a lot, i want you here with me too, i'm sorry i made you worry.” you said as he took a breath in, “don't be sorry dovey, i love you okay? i want you to check up on me with text and facetime calls. I want it all even if you're clingy, I don't care, I want it. You're my girlfriend and I'm your boyfriend aren't I dovey.” he said as you nodded as if he was there, “yeah you are.” you said as he smirked, “i'm your what?” he asked as you rolled your eyes, “you're my boyfriend.” you said very peachy as he chuckled.

“Now just text me alright, i don't care what it is as long as it something from you, it can even be a meme, but i want you to text me okay?” he said as you giggled, “okay i will,” you said with a smile as he spoke again, “i'm gonna call you after my show, i want to talk to you before you fall asleep.” he said as you blushed a little, “alright i'll be waiting bubs.” you said as you said your goodbyes and ended the call.

Despite your overthinking brain you were left reassured that this man was going to be in your life forever no matter what and the unconditional love will always be there. Cal knew this as well, probably since the first time he met you. You two were perfect for one another and there was nothing that could tell you two otherwise.

Story you were nervous to post: i have never been nervous to post anything in my life. i have the confidence of a mediocre white man in my writing ability. also i have ADHD, which means i crave validation, and the rush of dopamine from posting something is EXCELLENT. if i have ever experienced nerves, i forgot about them about three minutes after experiencing it.

How do you choose your titles: i. okay. i can’t start writing ANYTHING without a title and a summary. i don’t know why that is, but it is the unfortunate case! sometimes it’s morphed song lyrics, sometimes it’s bits of poetry, sometimes they’re just words i like in an order that i enjoy the sound of. titles are a Big Deal to me, i have a whole document where i just keep titles i’ve come up with for later use. it is... currently three pages long.

Do you outline: i didn’t used to! but as i’ve gotten older i’ve started to... it’s not outlining, exactly? i don’t outline so much as i just like. write really horrible shitty notes about the things i want to put in a chapter. seriously, they’re awful. i meme my way through outlines, please don’t ask me to post them. i personally think they’re hilarious, but i am also The Worst.

Complete: oh god. oh god please. i have been writing since i was fifteen, it has never stopped. i’ve written a lot of stuff that’s complete, and also a lot of stuff that is NOT complete. generally i don’t post things that i don’t plan on finishing, if that’s any consolation. the one exception to this is fifteen acres of broken glass, which ended up being a photograph of my mental state at... twenty. yikes.

How our community looks like?

Not Mark’s or Jack’s separately but as one big fandom of both. I was curious how many people have problems with making friends in here and as also who have a lot of them. How old they are. From which part of world they came from, everything. So around May I decided to make a questionnaire, with few questions about you know, basic stuff.

You have no clue how scared I was.

You may think what was the cause of that, but I am gonna tell ya. I was afraid of being ignored, still I am but then Jesus Christ I was prying for this project to worked out.

It wasn’t a new thing for me to see, a lot of people can’t afford trips to another city, country or to just buy one ticket. I had even on mind creating a post, thing which was supposed to be about not mentoning that you, as a person is going to tour, posts like “Hey guys I am going to Jack show tonight!”, I mean cool that you or someone else can be there but I think about the others. I don’t mean in it in rude way, I am just afraid that because of posts like that, somebody will think of themselves as a pathetic person, get more depressed. I remember how many times I cried because of that, I blamed myself that I am not good enough, I deserved to be not a part of it and other horrible things . Although I didn’t do anything about this idea, cause I was scared, scared that people would yell at me and call me evil. And again I didn’t have any bad intentions in mind, I just thought about those who couldn’t and still can’t go see Jack or Mark.

I was up again, surprised especially with the male part. I thought that it will be 50/50 but nope, it seems that we, fangirls, rules in comunnity. Just kidding everybody no matter  what gender, sexuality is, they are also an important member of comunnity.

t was the toughest part of chart to make, not only I had a problem to put this in some logical way, but also having number before my very eyes. I am myself an Aspie (person with Asperger Syndrome) so contacting with people can be sometimes not at easy tasks, not mention that I can’t it (depends on second person) hold relations for very long, but I am learning you know, I am trying to be more confident or social, but sometimes Social Anxiety, gets on me.

Country

I am in shock, how many countries are here. In some cases one person belongs from one country and another one from different one. I wasn’t surprised to see U.S at top, but seeing few people from Poland made my heart fluttered.

I hope that what I said earlier made any sense, my hands were shaking full of excitement while writting it.

Roleplaying/Writing

My favorite muse(s) of theirs and why: I like Briar and Lili honestly. I like Briar because literally she makes me laugh. She tries not to be emotional even though I think she is quiet emotional, especially when she and Iza get to talking and how Iza seems to just read into things she does or why she acts a way- like...he reads into what she might be trying to keep hidden about herself even if it might be incorrect and is just what Iza thinks of her and she gets her feathers all ruffled because some of it might be right and she doesn’t want to face that fact or it’s wrong but she still doesn’t like that he can get a good read on her. Then Lili, she’s so adorable. Her story is sad and it’s sad that she’s going to be a kitten forever and she’s going to watch everyone she loves grow older while she stays the same age. The angst material is real right there but it’s interesting to me because how often do you even hear of that happening to a muse? It’s the first time for me and I love her.  My favorite interaction/thread of theirs: I can’t even lie or phase it I liked that really brief interaction between Iza and I think it was Maria? I remember her trying to make a deal with Iza, promising that his masters would be killed, but mistakenly said something about his 3rd, who was already dead and Iza just...belittled her? Like oof..iza...that was a demon you probably angered I’m surprised you’re still alive. I wouldn’t even blame her if she did kill him right then, even if he was for some reason valuable to her. Iza literally just “Oh, you couldn’t even get that information correct? You’re useless to me.” AT LEAST I’M SURE IT WAS MARIA-- if I have the completely wrong person LMFAO The one with Briar and Iza being domestic? Like, Briar playing with Iza when he was laying on the floor and she had a cat toy and he just would play but then get lazy. I thought that was adorable AF. My thoughts on their unique characterization/interpretation of their muse(s): Since they are Oc’s you can’t go wrong with them at all LOL I like how consistent they are though. They don’t ever feel like they are out of place or anything like that. My thoughts on their writing style as a whole: Considering you are on mobile? It’s honestly good writing lol I know it’s different writing on a computer than it is on mobile since I have written on mobile and god bless you I don’t know how you do it? I’m more of a multi-para person but I actually enjoy our stuff even if it’s 1 para or 3  Situation(s)/Plot(s) I’d love to see their muse(s) in: Oh gosh... okay. I think I want to see a situation where Lili has to deal with losing someone close after like years of knowing them. It might sound horrible and stuff but I’m genuinely curious of how she would cope, and react and I wonder if like, she would grow out of that mental innocence she has as a kid? Even though I think she is more like a cat since she literally was a cat when she died and was brought back as half-cat but I think it’s just something interesting to consider! Someone else I love seeing them interact with: I always find it funny to see Briar interact with Izaya, the specific one she interacts with LOL it’s just always fun to see it on my dash.  Anything else I want to say about their roleplaying: I’m really impressed! Like, it’s admirable to me because I find it so hard to rp on mobile and you are doing it and making it look so easy lol I’m literally just spoiled and like to use icons //cri but even without them I still really enjoy my boys interacting with yours regardless of being iconless or not!

What I Think Are Their Best Qualities: tbh your determination I think it really admirable. Your ambition to write and further develop your characters is great What I Think Are Their Strengths: Communicative, especially when it’s for something important. Super friendly, sweet and creative<3<3 A Memorable OOC Interaction Of Ours: Oh gosh.. we don’t actually talk all that much lol but we do talk in the tags sometimes and I do remember us dying over how cute domestic!Iza and Briar were Why Others Should RP With Them: Because their characters are interesting! I think it would def be worth it to write with them because they can throw their characters into just about any situation!  How Others Should Approach Them: I honestly, don’t remember how we started interacting but the best thing to do is to just, slide into the DMs and ask! I’m sure they would love to do just about anything lol Other Roleplayers I’d Recommend To Them: oh gosh... I’m not sure what fandoms you are in? I think you would love songcode’s Psyche! Or uhm... if you’re into free my husbando’s multimuse for it is great too and they also have other fandom’s that isn’t just free<3 Anything else I want to say about them: THEY ARE AMAZING PLEASE! GIVE THEM A CHANCE YOU WON’T REGRET

Welcome to my 14th newsletter: February 2018 – jam-packed with tidbits and information about new releases and projects I’m currently busy with!

Regular updates, new releases, and a monthly spotlight on one of my books, this time “Panic! Horror In Space #1“, book 1 in Panic! Horror In Space Series.

Hello!

February is always a busy and eventful month for me, being my birthday month. I had a nice long holiday from December, and towards the end of January I went back to work – and I had to get back into my routine again.

For the past several weeks, I’ve been working on “African Assignment” and “Bugspray“, two books that were both published and available until November. To give you a little background, both books were published through LightBearer during 2016, which was a mutual project of mine together with a friend, but due to various considerations, including the unsuitability of CreateSpace as a publishing platform regarding payment options for the publisher and author, we agreed that the best thing to do was to take both books down and re-release them through Lulu. We also agreed that this was better under my own brand, as it seems likely that LightBearer isn’t going to be active again anytime soon. This came about at the end of November, and I’ve been working on both titles since. It’s not just a matter of taking the manuscripts down and putting them up on another service; it’s more complicated than that – different POD sites use different software and have different formatting requirements. Also, in our opinion, CreateSpace’s materials and printing quality is inferior to Lulu’s. In the meantime, I’ve been reformatting, and have modified cover details and made some content changes, all in preparation to put them up again via Lulu alongside the rest of my books.

In the meantime, my fiance’e and I are also in the thick of making preparations for our hand-fasting in March this year. It’s been in the workings since last year, when we got engaged on the 9th – and the date is set for the 10th! Some pictures will be included in an article on my website and later, in one of the next newsletters – so stay tuned!

In the meantime, I’m also working on another of my dad’s books, getting it ready for publication. My dad, Theo Engela, died in 1985. “Shakandazu Valley” was the last book he finished, in the year before his death. He tried unsuccessfully to get it published up to the time of his death, sending typed copies to publishers who weren’t interested in anything from South Africa due to the political climate etc – that’s right, politicians have a long, long history of shattering dreams and screwing things up for us ordinary folk!

So, I’ve been editing it for him, which has been quite a mission since it was typed on paper old-school, with a manual typewriter that imprinted slightly smudged letters on the paper. The only way I could do this, was to scan the pages into digital images and run them through a text-bridge application – which provided me with a Word document with a truckload of errors! Aside from that, I think the lady who typed the manuscript for dad altered the text in typing from the handwritten manuscript by replacing contractions (i.e. “can’t”) with full words (i.e. “cannot”), and so this makes for a rather plodding text, especially in dialog, so I’ve had to modify it to make it easier to read. That’s just what I’m up to with the first edit which is still in progress – during the next edit, I’ll be working on the flow of the story telling, the dialog, and any other errors I find.

The book should go out soon after I’ve put the other two back up again. “African Assignment” is a collection of my dad’s short stories, and there’s an interesting difference in his style in writing short stories as opposed to his novel-writing – add to that, his two earlier novels are written in a style more like his short stories than “Shakandazu Valley”. There’s an almost 20 year gap between them. Nevertheless, it’s an exercise in getting to know my dad, and it’s a pretty deep experience for me, one I’m enjoying a lot.

1. What do you typically have for breakfast? Bread or cereal

2. Do you like scary movies? Only if I’m watching them with friends.

3. Whats your favourite Milkshake flavour? Vanilla/oreo or something like that. Actually, strawberry and mango is really good.

4. Have you ever been in a newspaper? My school was one time, but not me personally.

5. How long can you balance on one foot? Pretty long. I don’t know, but pretty long.

6. Have you ever fired a gun? No and I hope I don’t have to. 

7. Have you ever tried archery? Yeah. Much harder than it looks.

8. Whats your favourite condement? Ketchup. Mayo only for some sandwiches.

9. Whats your favourite clean word? Catharsis

10. Whats your favourite swear word? I used to swear a lot but I dropped the habit.  “Shit.” But I mainly say “Bugger” lol.

11. Whats your least favourite word? I am so sorry but I HATE it when people call their husbands “Hubby”. I just can’t I’m sorry.

13. What football team do you support? Um. Idk. 49ers? But of course, I live in the Bay Area so.

14. Whats the longest you've gone without sleep? 28 hours. At the 20 hour point I felt like I was in a weird fever dream.

15. Whats the tallest building you've ever been up? Taipei 101.

16. Do you have any scars? Yeah. Fell from my bike when I was like, eleven. I got a big scratch near my eye. Had to get stitches >:(. I also got scratched by a cat and it looks like a self harm scar. It’s not, I promise

18. Did you ever win any sportsday events? Powderpuff if it counts!

19. What did you want to be when you grew up? I had to think about this recently. I always wanted to be a vet when i grew up. But it’s hella competitive. Also my colorblindness (blue-green) really screws things up sometimes. So I decided to abandon the dream and do Physical Therapy lol.

20. If you could change anything about yourself what would it be? A lot of things actually. But maybe having ADHD? But I also really want to not be colorblind.

21. Whats the longest you've ever grown your hair? The longest was to lower half of my back.

22. Are you scared of flying? Airplanes - no. Skydiving - yes.

23. Would you rather trade some intelligence for looks or looks for intelligence? I’m very average looking, which is subjective. But I think I’m okay. I’d want more intelligence.

24. Have you ever tie-dyed your own clothes? Haha yeah in a summer camp for 3rd grade.

25. How often do you buy new clothes? Only if I have to, or I really want to. Like I mainly wear graphic T-shirts and I really want to get a Stardew Valley shirt.

26. Are you reliable? Depends on what. Reliable for secrets and stuff like that? Yeah, totally. Reliable in terms of work stuff. Mm debatable.

27. Are you proud of yourself? I can recognize good qualities about myself. I’ve been through a lot. I’m still doing alright! So Yeah, I get a gold star for being alive.

28. Have you ever had a secret admirer? Yes this is lowkey embarrassing but... in 10th grade, this girl came up to me and asked me out. And I’m straight. It was SO awkward I had to reject her AAAAH. I said something like, “Oh... haha... um. I’m flattered but I don’t... swing that way.” god im cringing.

29. If you could ask your future self one question what would it be? Probably like. “Are you doing well” or “Are you happy”

30. Do you hold grudges? Nah. I probably am too chill with things sometimes.

31. If you could breed two animals together to defy the laws of nature what new animal would you create? A dog/bird hybrid. Best case scenario, I’ll get a dog with wings. Worst case I’ll get a duck with paws or something.

32. Do you decorate the outside of your house for christmas? Nope.

33. Can you solve sudoko puzzles? Yeah but it takes me SO LONG.

34. Have you ever played conkers? (Whoever wrote this template must be british) Nope.

35. Whats the most unusual conversation you've ever had? It digressed from politics to philosophy to weird things like are monkeys capable of thought. It was one of the best convos I ever had.

36. Are you much of a gambler? No I’m way too indecisive. So naturally I suck at Fire Emblem lol.

37. Are you much of a daredevil? Nah. I’m a coward.

38. Are you a good liar? Only for small stuff. I try not to lie.

55. Whats your favourite pastel colour? I really like the blue one.

56. What traditionally adorns the top of your christmas tree? My family and I don’t celebrate Christmas.

57. What would be your dream sandwich? Turkey, lettuce, cheddar, butter, baguette bread. Lee’s Sandwich combo #1 is SUPER good.

58. Can you inpersonate anyone famous? Not well lol.

59. Can you do any accents other than your own? American southern, New Zealand, Australian, the Received pronunciation British. I can kind of do Scottish.

60. Do you have a strong local accent? I have this weird mix of the general American accent and New Zealand. By that I mean I sound pretty American until words like “seven, definitely, yeah, bro, pro”

61. Whats your favourite accent? For listening: Australian. To talk in, Scottish.

62. In Tic-Tac-Toe which do you normally pick? X

63. Do you prefer blue or black inked pens? I have a hard time distinguishing between the two.

64. What was the last thing you recorded off TV? I don’t actually record shows on TV. Never figured out how to.

65. What was the last thing you dressed up as for fancy dress? Church. Well, it’s not that fancy. My last actual fancy one was for a wedding.
