ah, thanks so much for sending this in! very much appreciated ... although, i fear my answer won't be super satisfying, alas. while i'm still in the etn fandom and i haven't stopped thinking about it since i fell into it during the summer of 2019, i also haven't exactly been working on wips. not in the traditional sense anyway. fanfic writing has been somewhat hard for me lately, so it's not even a matter of a change in fixation as much as it is a me problem -- but, despite all that preamble, there's plenty of ideas in the making and old pieces of writing i've yet to clean up and publish! much like ‘in your palm rests a wrung heart’, there's other miscellaneous drabbles rotting away in my docs. there's jmn, which rested at 18k ( though somehow the file corrupted and deleted a good couple thousand, ugh ), a matleen oneshot i never managed to finish, and a silly matny thing i wrote for funsies. as for what i'm excited about? well, this is a prime thing in all my fics, but for these wips and any upcoming ideas i'm always eager to share peeks into character dynamics or complexity. i love showing off two humans who make constant mistakes and hurt each other, but there's a genuine love festering within them. all of that, and any variations, are a theme for me as a writer ; it's what i like to write, it's why i loved etn as much as i did, and this is what has me excited! when it comes to sharing and actually writing at least, haha.

I really like Keir and Vesper relationship as a whole ans the fact they banter yet accommodate to each other in a way that isn’t romantic per se but very close. They are close, they live together they share a house and they have this casualty that makes their banter more banal. Vesper is expected home, someone expect them home and care enough to wait for them when they aren’t there. Vesper wants to decorate the house, to put a part of themselves in the space they share, the only place under the mountain that is their home cause it is ! It went from Keir’s home to their home !

They both talk to the bones of the house, they have habits and familiarity and it’s a sene of love that isn’t automatically romantic but it’s love ! ( that why I’m devastated about the ending of chapter 2 btw- )

They are close to each other but thinking the other don’t share the feelings they keep their guard up. That why Keir asking about vesper eyes is so intimate. Like it’s so much more intimate than him asking if vesper has a deadly ilness ! This is a question you ask because you care about the other one, there is yearning in knowing more about them because you want to know more about them, they aren´t just someone random it´s the person who's being haunt you, you need to get a grap of the slighlest detail about them to hold it dear to your heart. Keir gets upset if you say you lied about your eyes beause he trusted you first hand, it´s the first time he blindly trust you.

Also Keir keeps saying about « when i’ll see your face » in his mind it’s a fact that at some point he will see their face it’s no an « if » it’s a « when » He fully assume or wants to believe that it will happen. He dosen’t want to idealize vesper but he think about it, he think about them and what they might look like. Keir desperately wants to know about the most private knowelge about vesper, what do you look like, you are special you are Vesper and i need to see you humanly i want to see you humanly.

Ep 1:

-I like the difference that’s set up between having a lot of chakra (like Naruto) versus good chakra control (like Sakura)- hopefully this means people are going to go about how they train and fight differently

-Naruto asking Sakura for advice and asking her not to tell Sasuke anything was actually kinda endearing lol

Ep 11:

seungmin would talk to you about it when you want to talk about it, and when you need to have some alone time, he’d cook for you. he’d make your favorite meal and put on the movie that he knows you keep rewatching because you love it so much. he can easily tell when your mood starts to drop and every gesture of his would radiate support and affection in order to remind you he’s there for you. he’d buy all your favorite snacks, he’d shower together with you, he’d do your hair and take you to the mall so you can laugh together at silly toys and such

junhan would be the best listener; he’d really try to give you not only support and validation but also advice if you need it, for work or your own personal reasons. he’d ask questions and try to help you go through your messy thoughts that would be clouding your mind. after a long conversation he’d want to uplift your spirits and would want to know what you want to do. whatever you’re in the mood for, that’s what he’d be in the mood for too. going out for brunch, chilling at home and listening to music, going to the cinema… you name it. on days like that he’d just want to see you smile again

jooyeon would let you cry on his shoulder for as long as you need. he hates to see you cry, but he knows it’s relieving you from the pressure; if it’s something you feel the need to do in that moment he’d hold you in his arms and caress your back gently while quietly reminding you that it’s okay. he’d kiss your nose then your cheeks until he covers every part of your puffy face with quick soft pecks. he’d make sure you know it’s normal for everyone to have days like this and that you shouldn’t forget that you’re not going through them alone. the crying session would turn into the two of you chatting about some mundane things while cuddling, and then the cuddling would turn into him suddenly playing fight with you out of nowhere (spoiler alert: he’d let you win. not easily, but he’d let you win)

well WELL from the begining then. i remember spending hours  more like days hhhh thinking about how weird and cool the recruiting scene with cole is? later when he is already with the inquisition, our party is either on guard around him or kinda treats him like he is helpless and needs special attention or guidance or something like that? demonising someone like him or framing them as in need of help are like textbook behavior ofc and im not here to be a hater, i just noticed it? moments with solas and varric fighting over him like a divorced couple are super cute for sure!!

but i remember being confused because excuse me, out of all of them, this guy??, this feral bat that is chilling on the ceiling like it's a lounge-zone inside Lucius' head, created especially for him?

he is confident. also a little bit nervous, a bunch mysterious and just ghostly cool. but also confident. (im not saying this confidence is not misplaced sometimes btw x) he even tells you that if you'll leave your head you'll die! what a jokester (҂ ꒦ິヮ꒦ິ)

and the whole quest with templars and envy are soooo horror coded, i love it!! it looked a bit silly, sure

(even after so many years im not able to get rid of the image in my brain phphphp) 

but it's still a very interesting quest!! dorian is ✨the bestie✨ but i'm always picking templars bc the implications of the story are just so good

1. its placed at the beginning of the game and your character is probably confused and anxious and dont yet worked out the routine of how to deal with their new title\powers + not every inquisitor character would want to be in the spotlight.

imagine you suddenly got yourself into position where a lot of people looking up to you, listening to what you saying, placing their hopes on you or waiting for you to fail? this is terrible! id 1000% just jumped out of a cliff!!! a small one, but still 

2. you meeting the guy who basically came from a place you now have unlimited access to.

he is: a) almost as confused as you are b) possibly came to this world without knowing consequences of that decision c) along the way he is figuring out how to be himself in the environment that is nothing like where he used to live. wow thats just like forced immigration *nervous laugh*

3. and let's not forget that you are meeting him inside your head and you can say to him "you look familiar".

dont know about you but apparently i dont need much to start screaming ¯(ツ)/¯

also can i just spend the moment to say that this is three (3) identical dialogue options??????????

i got the feeling that cole's confidence in the concept of "help" is, among other things, makes him being able to zoom in on something borderline obsessively? or vise versa - dismissively, not noticing "it hurts, its not for the better"? he thanks you when you promise to kill him, he cries when you do not. i swear this man (─ ‿ ─)

+quick addition bc im not entirely sure: so if i got it right, the anchor makes the inquisitor "too bright" to read? so among all the people we know about inq is the one that cole can't truly empathise on this lvl? on spiritual lvl you might say lsdkjflksdjflkj sorry!!!!! but jokes aside,this is like the perfect ground to build both comforting stories 

"someone from the party notices that cole is hanging near inq before inq do, and when asked he explains it by saying something like "dry warm skin. the air is stilled with quiet, easy to breathe. i followed the shining whispers and then i was followed no more" with the most plain face possible? "

and "today for lunch i have glass" kind of stories, like "the inquisitor is cornered and possibly bleeding and probably on the verge of passing out and they know that situation is bad and no one should follow/find them, "it's better to wait it out and deal with it on my own" kind of clown behavior. so they laugh tiredly at how pathetic they are, maybe remembering something similar from their childhood, remarks from their sibling for ex., and just trying their best to not think about how they need cole's help, cole's presence. the sense of safety that comes when he is around" 

uh!!! that wasnt neither quick or painless so i'll go make a tea wait a second please

im back!! so since i talked about the forget thing i must confess - i dont really like cole's personal quest???? again, im not complaining or anything but i remember feeling kinda empty while playing it? like deep inside me, there was something sad, but it was so far away,i coudn't even feel it properly?

both human and spirit versions of his ending made me feel like the distance between you and him lengthened, and maybe you could do something about it before but now? this "something" is missing and you're lost and can't even tell for sure if theres was a chance to do something in the first place? and cole just moved on? its super logical considering he is not a romance option but phphph so, i rarely romance someone in games, partly bc rpg tends to be a little horny and im that kind of ace who is not interested in this, partly bc i tend to pay attention to non-romanceable characters, so when i started to explore last da:i dlc and i saw cole having gf i was like "well ouch".

imagine your inq has a crush on cole but they never were able to say it clearly?

mb it was a melancholic slowburn, and your character was going through too much and felt like burdening cole with their problems would be unfair?

maybe they tried but the timing was wrong, the words felt stupid, and their hands felt too dirty, too guilty?

hi!! It’s been sad seeing u have to deal with so much recently :(( both irl and anons being assholes on here so here are some musings that will hopefully cheer u up!!!

I know u said no pregnancy was gonna happen in the doc BUT when I first got into this doc (binged it in like 1 day btw) I also went thru and looked at almost ALLLL of your extra posts, lore, FQA, etc. And one that stuck with me a lot was explaining what would happen if reader was to accidentally get pregnant and who would retire and I. I have not been able to forget this fic is literally my Roman Empire on my mind literally 24/7 let me tell u

I just feel like there are so many good opportunities for it to be sweet but also angsty as hell. I imagine after some time Price actually becomes rather suited to being a father. He never really thought he had much going for him besides the military but now he has this little bundle who looks up to him for everything and it all just sort of clicked for him. I imagine after some time too, Gaz wants a little one of his own……one from the alpha and one from the beta y’know……now u just have another little carbon copy of Gaz running around

also ofc Simon and Johnny are there to visit at any and all times they can. Holidays, week-long breaks between deployment, etc. the pups love them so much and all their attention is stolen by their two uncles where they’re here. I feel like when they come to visit the pack might sort of be how it used to? They’re definitely still very affectionate like they were in the old days and it’s just easy for everyone to slip into the habit of kissing each other or scenting.

But I feel like after some time, Johnny would definitely yearn to have a similar lifestyle to what price and gaz retired to. He sees you as a family so happy (they get PLENTY of pics and videos too ofc) and he kind of wishes he’d retired and got you to have another little MacTavish himself. He doesn’t regret staying with Simon by any means, but he misses his pack the way it used to be, and he’s getting older, after all. It’s only natural.

Price definitely has the most potential for picking up fatherhood easily. He might be the most nervous at first, but he said in the fic he had considered settling down with an omega at one point, so his sudden fatherhood wouldn't be that big of a shock for him. He's definitely the most experienced, perhaps not with actual children, but he can lead a squad of soldiers through what are essentially suicide missions. He can handle a baby.

Gaz definitely is the most excited out of everyone for the baby. Reader definitely has to give him looks sometimes because he's reading the parenting books and looking up which furniture is the best and researching milestones. He's the most prepared out of all of them, or at least as prepared as one can be for a baby. And of course as soon as he sees the baby he's going to want one of his own. That's a given lol.

Johnny is definitely the fun uncle. The pups all love when he comes to visit. Gets them riled up and wears them out so they finally sleep 😂 That's definitely the only reason they don't complain about him getting them too excited. He'd definitely yearn for the quiet life after a while. He'd want to be there and be with his pack. He loves Simon, but he'd get tired after a while. He'd be welcomed back with open arms, just as Simon will when he eventually retires too.

19. Ruegard (Clarisse and Silena from PJO by Rick Riordan) I joined TikTok this year and discovered they were shipped by a pretty big part of the PJO fandom and now I need to reread PJO.)

20. Eva and Celeste from It Goes Like This by Miel Moreland - I highly recommend this book it’s abt a queer sapphic band who get broken up and now they come back together to perform one last time. The main couple, Eva and Celeste have such a beautiful story I don’t want to spoil anything

21. Teo and Aurelio from The Sunbearer Trials by Aiden Thomas - they got together too soon in the second book in my (very very biased towards excruciating slow burns) opinion but I loved them in the first book

22. Kit and Theo from The Pairing by Casey McQuiston - the fact that we have two Kits and two Teo/Theos on this list but in different ships (also two Wills) is kinda funny. I really loved their story and I want a love that’s so profound but also so fun like theirs.

23. Thomastair (Thomas and Alastair from The Last Hours by Cassandra Clare) I love them so much

24. Ghostwriter (Lucy and Jesse from The Last Hours by Cassandra Clare) they’re a big part of why Chain of Iron is one of my favorite TSC books but also their relationship conflict in CoT about not being able to kiss for a weird illogical reason was just not believable

25. Gracestopher (Grace and Christopher from The Last Hours by Cassandra Clare) some people ship them but in a platonic way some people ship them in a romantic way I understand both sides and honestly as long as we got to see the two of them develop a close bond based on love and trust it doesn’t entirely matter. Unfortunately CoT broke my heart

26. Ineffable Husbands (Aziraphale and Crowley from Good Omens) I watched Good Omens at the end of 2023 and read Good Omens the book at the start of January 2024 I still think of them from time to time and I’m not really up to date on s3 news but apparently s3 is going to be much shorter 😢 again that thing I said about loving excruciating angst and pining

27. Rosekiller (Evan Rosier and Barty Crouch jr from the Marauders fandom specifically in the fic “I’m not going to teach him to dance with you” by greensenne (not 100% sure I haven’t messed up the name of the fic but 100% sure that’s what the fic author is called if ever you want to check it out. It’s a no Voldemort AU with lots of Speak Now by Taylor Swift vibes) they’re Wolfstar but evil/morally gray Slytherins depending on the fic basically)

28. Jurdan (Jude and Cardan from The Folk of the Air series by Holly Black)

Fierrochase (Alex and Magnus from Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard by Rick Riordan) I discovered the TSC fandom bc I kept reading Pinterest posts with “Magnus and Alec” in them and thinking huh I don’t remember that part of the story from Magnus Chase and also why is there consistently a typo in Alex’s name?? I love their dynamic so much I NEED to reread MCGA next year

30. Edwin and Charles from the Dead Boy Detectives TV show on Netflix (why does Netflix keep cancelling shows I love? I watched it and then right after Netflix cancelled it)

To begin with. . . you guys should know by now that I LOVE seeing the child through your eyes. I'm all for self-indulgence because I'm like that too hahah <3 Besides, that's what writing "x reader" is all about, right? You're free to imagine however you want and nothing makes a writer happier than seeing their readers actually immersed in the story and sharing their own visions!

I loved this headcanon so muuuuch! I think my favorite ones though would be: Mama dressing her up (canon), Kimi mostly wearing yukatas, kimonos & hakama skirt (canon! i'd like to add she likes some of snezhnayan traditional clothing too) and her red eyeliner <3 Btw. . . Because she gets along with Childe so well and she does knows his family, Teucer & Kimi are best friends. He sees her as his lil sister. It's cute.

This one here is a story question if you romance Julia how did she fall in love with the Mc/why does she love the Mc? The romance started at the wedding I know that but I'm just confused.

Btw I love your writing and don't push yourself to hard take your time.

Heya, sorry for being late to these asks! Got really caught up! I'll answer these best I can:

Julia: while she doesn't have much time for herself, either commanding legions or overseeing an Empire, Julia enjoys board games, such as chatrang. As a child, she had a hunting hound, so I would think she might have a soft spot for dogs. The color she prizes most is the imperial purple she spent so long striving for.

Darius: he reads texts and tomes even beyond his scholarly research. He particularly prizes the lion that is the symbol of Pharia, and enjoys a wide array of vibrant colors in his wardrobe.

Consentia: particularly enjoys playing the lyre in her estate when she is not busied with the Senate. For animal, as a Iudian traditionalist she would prize the eagle as a national symbol, and the deep blue of the sea.

Ceto: appreciates games of chance, occasionally indulging in gambling dice. Her favorite animal would be the cat, certainly. She appreciates darker colors to hide her against the night.

Antonius/Amalrik: prefers to sketch landscapes while scouting for his armies. As a former cavalry officer, he has some appreciation for horses as well, and his favorite color would be a verdant green.

As for how and why Julia came to love the MC, I've explained that in a previous post (https://www.tumblr.com/shattered-eagle/756353291980505088/just-got-into-your-work-and-its-amazingly-crafted?source=share) but if you would like further explanation beyond that I can do my best.

When it comes to me, the author, sure I can answer that lol. My favorite character to write is one who has been mentioned but has not met the MC yet. This character should appear first in this chapter I'm currently writing. But I enjoy writing all of my characters!

My favorite color is a tie between burgundy and navy blue, my favorite animal are cats (or komodo dragons! or puffins, maybe), and my hobbies are reading, writing, playing RPGs and board games!

Songs are my bread and butter when I have character brainrot bc like with web weavings I feel like there are so many emotions and thoughts you can communicate about something so simply through one… (Which for anyone interested here’s my web weaving tag, got 2 about Chil). Ok everyone saw this coming but this ask ran away from me and I ramble about some song lyrics I associate with Chil & different facets of his life below the cut. Some people find my, ehem, heated rambles about Chil entertaining, this is your cue to get out the popcorn.

When thinking about songs for Chil I have 3 angles I take: About Chilchuck, about him and his wife, or about him & Marcille. Marchil is so engraved into me with their arcs together, that they’re like the concept of closure and letting go and letting yourself live again to me, sorry for all the non-enjoyers… But his dynamic with Marcille is a large part of his character arc so still fits, rock on.

I think currently my top song for him is Jackrabbit by San Fermin, because it combines all three it makes me go wild. It’s about trepidation… Throwing yourself into it even despite the fear (working with traps, survival in poverty where you have to rush & hustle), or just staying there paralyzed(not reaching out to his wife). Flight or freeze!! Saying goodbyes and saying hellos!! Not dying alone!! The life cycle of a wild rabbit living and dying, the baton pass race of life from generation to generation!! Chil and his daughters even!!! Going through life at a frenzied pace!! It is so Chilchuck and so marchil, and the music does give that hurried and scared energy to me too, and sigh the Marcille side to it with fear of death too…

Extra fun context but the other day on the discord server we were talking about what animal each character’s fursona would be as we do and I thought of a rabbit for Chilchuck: Quick footed, ‘cowardly’, small and frail and seen as weak 🙃, athletic and slender, pulls stunts, stressed out, has very fine hearing and has good instincts, etc. And ofc that fits really well with Marcille since she’s kinda associated with dungeon rabbits hehe~ But I think while Marcille’s 100% the cute round rabbit Chil’s more like a brown hare, more wild and like, more like a jackalope if we’re still doing monsters... I do lowkey find it more fun than his associated monster being mimics because he’s crabby, because they’re clever (with where they place themselves) and because of how he has a soft shell but soft insides, lol.

OKAY so that’s my song pick with the main 3 facets sure, now I’ll share some lyrics for each 3 sides separatedly 😈 Kinda summarizing my web weavings for him thus far. If we start with Chilchuck by himself we have… Enter One by Shelby Merry and Drunk by The Living Tombstone

I rely very heavily on music when I'm writing and have curated a handful of playlists over the years and discovered several albums that really help me get into Writing Mode and set the scene. I thought I'd put together a post sharing some of my favorite instrumentals. (These sources are also fantastic for wandering around aimlessly while intensely daydreaming, btw.
