His husband is gone for the night and hers—well, she doesn’t know where he is, and it doesn’t matter. What does matter is the strange, otherworldly bottle of wine she’s consumed in its entirety and her longing for someone dangerous.

Felix has been a fascination of hers for a long time. Something about him—and she doesn’t even really know what it is—entices her horribly. She watches him through her mirrors, studying him, committing as many details as possible to memory. She fantasizes about him, even dreams about him. When she talks about him to the tigers in her garden, she calls him my lover who does not know me—a title she thinks he’d appreciate, given his own inclinations.

Now, lonely and drunk, she is driven to action. She comes through a mirror in another room, not wanting to startle him, and softly creeps down the hallway toward his study. In her hands, an ornate platter of fine china. Beneath its lid, a large quarter pounder meal from McDonald’s and a carved drinking horn with Ethiopian coffee she prepared herself. Since he isn’t particularly fond of dessert, she put a little extra effort into the coffee; he will taste notes of caramel and hazelnut, and the cream is mixed with bourbon and vanilla. 

She enters the study and places the platter in front of @wickdcreatures at his desk. Her heart is racing like a bird’s. She’s very aware of his warmth, the inviting scent of his cologne. For a moment she stands awkwardly, stupidly—and then, all at once, she remembers herself: a deep curtsey, eyes fixated on the floor.
