(I've been pretty inactive lately, and frankly still am, but I need some help with this.)

So today, this poor bird flew into the back of my basketball goal (not me or my family's idea), and died. I had moved it into the grass, but I can't the feeling I need to do... more.

As well as just what kind of bird it is. I've been seeing these birds all around my neighborhood, and I don't know what kind they are.

Does anyone know what kind of bird this is? I assumed grackle, but it doesn't look blue enough for one (nor do grackles have finch beaks to my knowledge).

And is there anything else I should be doing for this poor bird? Sorry this is really morbid, but I'd appreciate the help.
