my favourite thing about commenting on a fic I love is that... only good things come from it.

the author knows that their words SLAPPED. you made mefeel so much joy/sadness/empathy/grief/gremlinism that i literally couldn't keep it inside my body.

the author (who is likely as much of an absolute fucking nerd as you) might reply. maybe you'll become friends. or maybe you'll just have a gorgeous interaction with a stranger of a like mind, halfway across the world. and isn't that lovely?

the more they realise people love their writing, the more likely they are to do more of it. sorry, is there any BETTER FEELING than seeing an author you're subscribed to showing up in your inbox like 'new work posted'? I think the fuck not. lemme tell ya, the ships i have read? the au's i have delved into? the tags i have willingly ignored and then grown to search for???? there are certain writers i will follow into the very firey depths of mordor and beyond. (i have no shame in telling them this too). my mind has been OPENED. my sensibilities have been DASHED OUT THE DOOR.

One of the coolest parts about being a fan of fanfic is you can actually contact the author. And they will respond. And then you can message them nonstop until they allow you into their lives and then you’re becoming their beta reader and suddenly you know multiple authors of all types of fiction books and fanfic authors who will drag out their deleted fics for you to read at a moments notice.

Anyway. Comment on fics and message authors. It’s absolutely worth it.

Alright, well, I feel Garp is an intense yandere no matter the intentions.

Look, I know he isn't the best parent... he can be a rough mentor.

Yet he supposedly does it because he values the youth and wants them strong.

So if you were part of the Marines and he was a platonic yandere?

He's rough because he loves you... according to him.

I feel he's rough and protective when platonic, yet he isn't rough if he likes his obsession romantically.

Not unless he feels he has to be, at least.

Garp, as he is the paternal grandfather of Luffy, acts very similar to him.

Although, I imagine he has a better understanding of romance... since, y'know, he had a kid?

Since his personality is similar to Luffy, he may be a bit much for his obsession.

He's eccentric and loud, selfish and absent-minded...

But he does indeed care.

Garp values family and freedom, no matter the background of said family.

He's supportive and brutally honest.

I feel him being a platonic yandere makes more sense since I can see him being a mentor to his obsession one way or another.

However, he's certainly more capable than Luffy to understand romantic feelings.

His obsession is more than likely part of the Marines, regardless of how they view the World Government and Celestial Dragons.

It's probably possible for him to have a pirate! obsession, yet they'd have to be someone who looked out for Luffy and Ace or something.

After all, he cares about family.

If you were watching his grandsons then he'd have a positive view of you, even if you're a pirate.

Garp is more... brutally overprotective than possessive.

He isn't too jealous, he seems too laid-back to be overly jealous.

If he was, since he's so blunt, he'd be very honest towards those he didn't like.

Like, would wrap an arm around you... then threaten the other person with a huge grin.

That may actually make him terrifying.

Most yanderes try to be threatening and scary when jealous.

Garp? Oh, he does it with a smile.

He is fully capable of going through with such threats, too.

Ask Sengoku, Garp can literally punch through ships.

He's menacing and super strong.

Yet he never intends to harm his obsession with any malicious intent.

If he's your mentor, then he's a bit rough so you can be as strong as him.

After all, no other Marine could teach you better than him.

Plus, He's better than following some pirates like his grandsons, right?

He'd probably mentor you and put you through harsh training regimens if he's platonic.

However, if he's romantic, he knows how to take care of you.

He's had a wife in the past, sure he's a bit old now, but he's still capable of being good for his obsession.

As weird as it is to say, I can see him as a GILF yandere to his obsession.

He cares for them, even as a love.

He's always smiling too, always goofy with his obsession just to see them happy.

Definitely reminds me of a more mature Luffy.

He doesn't want to intentionally make you upset, platonic or romantic.

Yet, if he feels you're acting up, he will show you he isn't just goofy.

He loves you, definitely...

If you push things, like be bratty or try to escape, Garp will be sure to sit you down.

He can be pretty serious, while it's mostly in combat...

He doesn't tolerate his obsession disrespecting him or taking advantage of his care.

I imagine punishments with him are ruthless, like a military officer.

Although, if he's trying to keep you in one place under his care... He's probably limited to confinement

Or, prove to him you're sorry for neglecting him or acting out... then he can feed you something better than what's necessary.

Yes, he can be harsh...

Yet he still loves his obsession and would rather spoil them than anything.

Garp is a pretty tall and built character like most One Piece characters.

I imagine he probably would enjoy holding his obsession in his lap regardless of his intentions.

He may even rub your head playfully for affection or just hold you close.

Good luck if he mentors you though, since he's going to put you through it in the name of love.

He wants you to need him... but he also wants you capable of defending yourself.

In terms of romantic kisses... he probably likes to kiss your forehead... or if he does the lips, he goes all in.

Many know him for being harsh and ruthless.

However, he just looks so happy with you.

Even if you were a pirate, people like Sengoku may criticize him for liking you, yet know they can't change his mind.

They know he's loyal to family, he values them.

Which means, no matter your path, he always knows you'll be a good person.

He wants to help cultivate that.

Garp would also enjoy it if you looked after Ace and Luffy.

He'd dislike that you're a pirate, but is happy you're fond of his family.

I feel Garp can probably be forceful, yet his threats and commands are often playful or lighthearted.

Unless he's serious, then he's stone cold when giving commands and orders.

He's more overprotective than possessive.

He has a stronger urge to protect you and prepare you for danger than isolate you.

Even if he mentors you, he wants you to at least know the Marines you work with.

Garp, when he follows through with threats, can be terrifying.

I can see him grinning while he punches someone's lights out over you.

Knowing him, it's REAL easy to kill with those fists, too.

He doesn't mind if his hands are bloody as long as what he did was for the right reason.

Which can be rather subjective when it comes to you.

Garp, like Luffy, tends to follow his own desires.

He doesn't care if it's against the rules if he can get away with it.

Garp tends to follow his own freedom and rules... since he wants you so much...

He'll do anything to have you since he's also a selfish man.

This is a cute idea!! I loved Disney's Cinderella as a kid (all three movies). I had an idea for this and I went with it, please let me know if I should make a secondary part to this or if you'd like another aspect of a "Cinderella" Yuu to be explored.

Silver

Silver has no specific opinions when he first meets [Name]. His judgments are regarding threats to Malleus, not personal thoughts.

Over time, he begins to notice that [Name] is a nice person.

Not only that, but they are more genuine than the average NRC student. It's almost a bit uncanny in the beginning.

Silver does not approach [Name] first and will need to be pursued by them or (essentially) have a meet-cute with them.

Provided one of those things happens, Silver does not mind being the friend of this nice and soft-tempered person.

They do not seem to be a threat to Malleus, so he trusts them.

Silver admires [Name]'s ability in the kitchen and with housework as both tasks were struggles for Lilia when Silver was a child.

He may ask to help you in the kitchen to learn more about food.

His taste buds are a bit damaged from Lilia's cooking.

Despite this, he is eager to learn and make better food for his dorm and family alike. He will praise his teacher as well.

Silver is a bit dense when it comes to his own emotions.

Between falling asleep at bad times and lacking emotional experiences that would make him understand "romantic" endeavors, Silver only looks the part of a fairy tale prince.

He is more likely to enter a comfortable dynamic with his potential love interest than profess his undying love for them suddenly.

A confession from Silver comes after a long period of friendship followed by a longer period of ???-ship in which everyone thinks the two are dating except for them.

Silver later realizes that [Name]'s inner strength and gentle soul are what made him care for them as much as he does.

Looking down at the light-haired sophomore, [Name] wondered what he was dreaming about. How could someone fall asleep in this field when there was so much music from the joint-campus festival? It seemed a bit odd, even for a mage school. [Name] could only think of one student at RSA whose sleeping habits were even remotely similar.

"Pardon me... Are you okay?" they asked again, crouching down and leaning over to observe his expression.

He's really not waking up...

He was rather... princely. A beauty if there ever was one. Sleeping in this field with his hair gently tousled from however he'd ended up this way... His eyes were closed and his breathing slowed.

[Name] could think of a few classmates who might call him a prince.

As they watched him, debating on whether to call out to him again, they noticed the small bunch of animals that had appeared near the boy. There were two birds, a bluebird and a cardinal, as well as a small rabbit with white fur and red eyes.

How sweet...

What [Name] wasn't expecting was to lose their balance suddenly, falling without time to save anyone from the impact. It was in that instant that the boy woke up and swiftly, in one motion, pulled [Name] close to him to prevent them from crushing the animals that had been observing him.

However, that act of kindness left the two of them in a bit of a compromising position for two strangers to be in...

Footsteps were heard growing faster with every passing second.

[Name]'s face burned red at the closeness even if there was no lustful intentions behind the resulting position. It was for the animals, it wasn't toward them of all people! This boy didn't know them.

"SILVER!?? WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS!?" a voice asked quite loudly as he approached the two of them. "HOW DARE YOU, HUMAN!!!!"

Silver sighed.

He was human too. Wasn't he?

Truthfully, despite being raised by a fairy, Silver thought that Sebek needed to change his attitude even if just a tad. They did go to what amounted to a majority human school. Didn't they? It was inappropriate.

"Sebek, be quiet," Silver replied, hesitating to move lest he make the situation even more compromising, "Are you alright?"

The second part of his statement was toward the fallen [Name]. They blinked a few times before nodding, trying to get to their feet without injuring themself or "Silver" (as they had learned from the louder boy, "Sebek"). They did not succeed.

Where do you put your hands in this situation? They didn't want to make it worse. Lost in the moment, they could only nod to Silver.

This is definitely something to add to my journal...

"I'm fine, thank you for protecting the animals," [Name] told Silver.

A serious expression graced Silver's face.

"I wouldn't want them to get hurt, they're innocent."

This was Silver's personal sentiment as a knight and as the little boy who played in the woods for many formative years of his life.

"SILVER. DETACH YOURSELF FROM THAT HUMAN AT ONCE."

Sebek was... persistent.

Yes... Let's go with that word rather than the couple of insults that buzzed around Silver's mind at that moment. Sebek should, in an ideal world, know better than to be rude to a stranger, a guest at their school no less.

"Right," Silver replied, standing instantly before helping [Name] to their feet before stepping away from them.

It all happened so quickly that [Name] wasn't sure how he'd done it.

"I apologize for that," Silver told them, looking just a tad sheepish, "It was not behavior befitting a knight to my Master. I hope you will forgive me."

[Name] was at a loss for words once more. Master? Knight?

"It's okay," they assured, unsure what else to say.

But, really, it was fine. No harm done. If it was for the animals then it was well worth it. Silver hadn't had any perverse thoughts by it. It was a little awkward but all's well that ends well. That was their thought.

Silver nodded for the second or perhaps the third time in the interaction as he gave Sebek a look (this made Sebek's harsh anti-human glare lessen ever-so-slightly).

"Once again, I apologize to you..." Silver trailed off, "Ah, I don't believe I've even introduced..."

In the two seconds Silver paused, Sebek cut him off.

"This is Silver and I am Sebek Zigvolt. Guards to Malleus-sama, we are here to ensure his safety," Sebek explained as if reciting something that had been taught to him from a young age.

"That we are," Silver agreed, "And you are..?"

"[Full Name]," [Name] answered, "A pleasure to meet you."

"Of course," Silver spoke, shooting a look at Sebek who was still glaring daggers at [Name] from earlier, "We have to leave now, but maybe we'll cross paths again."

A smile graced [Name]'s lips as they nodded.

What an interesting pair.

Unknown to [Name], Silver would think back on their encounter that night. Perhaps that was a first for him. It would be something for his father to tease him about for the rest of eternity, he supposed.

Dpx Dc AU: Ectoplasm is required for Ghosts to be visible to the human eye- And Danny creates his own ectoplasm.

Danny is visiting Jazz in Gotham and its weird how friendly everyone is. Like, the city gets a really bad rapport, everywhere he goes there is someone trying to strike up a conversation or answer his questions about getting around to the tourist spots. A few people even pointed out restaurants and ways to find off the beaten path gems! Jazz seems to role her eyes at him, but when he brings up her 'roommate' being kind of cute she flat out laughs.

Danny then comes to understand the Jazz doesn't have a roommate and that Ghosts in Gotham don't move far from their haunts- He's just been inadvertently turning these undead folks visible by accident of generating abnormal amounts of ectoplasm.

Which, is comforting in a way, he's never walking this dangerous city alone and really, most of the ghosts have been really friendly! They disappear once he's a few blocks away from them anyway.

Tim Drake is having a horrible day.

He'd been given intel that one of Black Mask's guys was going to snitch but that he'd died before given the opportunity to reach out to the GCPD. He tracks down the guy's last know whereabouts and yikes. Its next to the Theater. Tim was often grateful for his childhood obsessions, this time it backfired.

Tim and Bruce get into an argument about trust and respect and, worst of all, mental health. And even though Tim was vehemently against Batman accompanying Red Robin to the alleyway - that's exactly what happens.

They arrive and Bruce is closing up faster than a clam in the contaminated Gotham Bay- Clearly being in the Alley bothers him. No fucking shit. RR gets started on collecting evidence, there are a few extra blood splatters and a single left shoe... When a kid walks into the Alley.

"Uh, sorry to intrude-" The kid looks scared shitless, and runs away. And then, all of a sudden, Batman and Robin aren't alone in the Alley.

Tim can hardly believe his eyes as the dead man appears and quickly blabs Black Mask's bank passwords and what the plan had been- and While he's over joyed to have that closure, he turns around to Batman weeping in the arms of his parents.

The ghosts fade, and the emotions are certainly charged as this was never something Bruce or Tim would have ever dreamed of happening. Ghosts in Gotham. Talking, floating, granting closure.

"RR, Bats, come in." Oracle calls into their ears.

"Reporting in, but, uh, we need a minute."

"A minute? We have a case on 4th and-"

"O, we just saw the ghosts of the Waynes. It's going to be a minute."

"...Lots of Ghost reports lately then. Any chance you saw a kid looking like he could be adopted?"

"Yeah, actually, black hair and blue eyes. He was super polite before he ran away."

"We have work to do. Oracle, lets prioritize finding our person of interest and divert Nightwing and Robin to the case on 4th." Batman cut between them on the comms and he sounded... calmer than either of them anticipated.

Jazz is no longer laughing when Batman appears at her door explaining that he's looking for Danny (Who already flew away from town to get a good night's sleep before class on Monday). Turns out Danny reunited the man with his dead parents just briefly- and then the second guy appears and mentions how Danny had also given a guy who'd been murdered by a Mob enough time to explain the ongoing threats the city faced.

Jazz just rolls her eyes and says that it's not like the ghosts are going anywhere anytime soon and Danny will visit in another month. When pressed, she just explains that her brother is a weirdo. No of course he doesn't have powers. Gaslight and Girlbosses her way out.

And Jazz thinks that the game is up for at least another month, obviously when Danny visits more shit will stir up, but then this new guy appears.

Unlike the other Bats who are keen on watching her from a distance, the Red Hood knocks on her door. Are her eyebrows all the way into her hairline when Red Hood asks her to send his thanks along to Danny because somehow this whole situation led to his Dad expressing remorse for his actions and apologizing? Yes, yes they are.

But Jazz can smell Dissertation Data off of these vigilantes- Who is she to send them away? Jazz welcomes Red Hood into her place for a cup of tea and a small chat.

The story then devolves into Jazz getting shit done, Danny being cute by proximity and also bringing ghosts to the party, and the Bats having trauma resolve between them.

I feel like I'm pretty indifferent to most of them. This is super cringe of me, but whenever I fall super in love with a character I don't often like shipping them romantically with anyone. 💀 (im delusional I know)

It doesn't help that for some reason the jjk fandom (especially twt) is weirdly aggressive about ships. I know it isn't all the shippers and it's mostly just the loud minority, but seeing so much of the discourse has kinda put me off and I don't really engage much with the ships in the fandom except for rarepairs and selfships bc alot of the time those communities are more wholesome and cozy (if that makes sense LOL)

Not to mention Voltron and Klance/Allurance in our year 2024 but I find it very telling how they didn't have anything planned for the ending and how they made Lance choose Keith on "The Feud!" by saying "He's our leader, plus he's half-galra so he's like, the future" when a season later he refers to Allura as "the best thing that has ever happened to him".

And yes, you can love somebody to death and yet think somebody else should get to be the one to live, logically thinking, but Lance is pretty much the most emotional out of all the paladins. He's loverboy Lance. He speaks and acts with his heart all the damn time and thinks about the people he loves first and foremost. And I am not saying this is "wooahhh Klance proof!" because we are pretty over that. Just saying it feels like they didn't have shit planned for the last season because Lance (a Lance who is in love with Allura, in theory, from the start) would have never, even if it's logically speaking, let another person that wasn't her get out of there alive. And even if he wasn't in love with her, he has said multiple times how much potential, strength, and importance he sees in her role.

So it is just stupid to make him vote for Keith and say something extremely damn endearing like "he's the future" instead of saying it about his romantic interest.

Not to mention that they could have easily fixed this if they wanted Allurance to be canon. They could've made the bond and conflict Allura has with Keith deeper by making her vote for Keith and saying he is the future for being half-galra (something that is personal to Allura and it would've made more sense for her to say and eat her pride and hatred towards the galra. Character development who?). Then it's just easy to make Lance vote for Allura and make him go "She's our princess and her strength is what the world needs and the universe would be lost without her" or some bullshit like that. And then make Keith vote for Lance because the joke was actually perfect and I have nothing against it and it's pretty in character for him to say "I don't wanna be stuck with him" instead of saying that he truly believes Lance is crucial for the future. And idk, make Pidge and Hunk vote for each other because they are best friends and it makes sense to reaffirm their bond (although I do find really cute and in character their original votes).

I am just saying what we already knew and is that Allurance was so not planned and they could've written a way better build-up. 5. What ships captured your heart?

I am a gen writer through and through, so it's a very rare thing to see me writing a ship-focused fic. That said, I really enjoyed the pairing of Karlach and Astarion this year, though I wouldn't say I shipped them necessarily in a romantic sense. The fic I wrote that had them together had their relationship tagged '(it's fairly ambigious; is it romantic? queerplatonic? platonic? yes), (the love and devotion is there regardless)' which I think basically sums up how I view them (and also how aromantic I am about shipping 😅).

I also liked Billford, but in a strictly 'oh yeah they're super divorced, they are never getting back together' kind of way. Not sure if that counts as shipping, but hey, it's definitely counts as something.

10. What fic was the most satisfying to write?

I would have to say either 'The Poetics of Space' (Gravity Falls) or 'On Waxen Wings We Soar, In Spite of Inevitable Ends' (Baldur's Gate 3). They were the two fics I was the most happiest with this year, not only regarding the quality of the writing itself and the themes they explored (the constance of change not only in the world but also ourselves, and finding joy in and making peace with the time you have left), but also how they tied everything together in their conclusions. Both of them equally made me feel a 'wow..I did that' feeling of accomplishment when I finished them, so yeah, they both were absolutely the most satisfying to write.

20. Share your funniest line.

Being more of angst-based writer kinda limits my collection of comedic lines (even my more comedic story this year was extremely angsty), but there was one line I wrote this year that got a couple comments about it making the reader laugh, so I'll go with that one (because if two people found it funny, surely it must be, right):

“You try fixing an interdimensional portal for thirty years without learning physics," (Stanley) said. "I know what quarks are now. Do you know how much I hate knowing what quarks are.”

25. How did you recharge between fics?

Usually I'd spend the first few days after finishing a fic trying to figure out the what the heck to do with the spare time I had previously allocated to writing said fic, and then once I figured that out (and had yet to be overcome with the urge to write something else), I'd probably watch a TV show, read a book, play video games, and do some art. I'm boring like that.

Tang and Scorpion Demon friendship headcanons? Please?

* Scorpion Demoness LOVES to listen Tang’s stories, both of old legends and of his adventures. He may or may not make himself sound more heroic than he actually was, and she may or may not know that he is. She lets him do it anyways; he’s having fun, so why ruin it for him?

* (THIS IS WHAT I MADE BEFORE THE WHOLE SEASON 4 BEING RELEASED FIASCO HAPPENED SO UHH. SORRY FOR THE EXTRA DELAY??? ANYWAYS CONTINUING ON!)

* I think she’s also a bit of a foodie herself, so they really bond over good food. And therefore a lot of their hang outs either end or start at Pigsy’s! (She sometimes feels like the third wheel when it’s her and Tang that are meant to be hanging out bc of him and Pigsy bicker-flirting; she gets back at him tho by gushing over Spider Queen)

* I think she’s super strong. Like so strong she doesn’t even realize her own strength. They pass by the arcade Mei and MK like to play in and decide to try a couple games, one being a test of strength type game. She breaks it the second she touches it. They immediately run away from the crime scene

* Bc I am incapable of not including my ships in some way: Double dates! The first one is always as hell bc. Well. Spider Queen not only flirted with Pigsy (and Tang but that did Not work), but also kinda maybe planned on eating them? Haha, it’s okay she’s past that now! Doesn’t mean she won’t tease them a bit and mumble something like “This would taste better with some mortal blood mixed in” as she sips on her drink, side eyeing the scholar and pig man. Meanwhile Scorpion Demoness is just clung to her arm and when she asks “What was that, sweetie?” (Unaware), SQ just smiles sweetly and says “Nothing~!”

* Tang: Really? Spider Queen? Sure she’s pretty (from an aesthetic point not romantic of course), but she’s evil!No offense but you can do better! SD: … A Pigman- Tang: HES AN AMAZING COOK AND A KIND MAN!!! HE IS ALSO A LOVING (while strict!) FATHER!!! HE’S A DILF SCORPS-! SD: Augh, no, Tangy!! Don’t call him that! Tang: A /DILF/!!!!!!!!

* Now this kind of doesn’t work with most of my headcanons but the scenario is in my head now so: They wingman for each other but by trying to make their respective crushes jealous; SD gushes about Tang like she’s interested in him around/to Pigsy and vice versa. This backfires in the sense that they do get jealous but now SD is banned from Pigsy’s and Tang almost gets eaten again

* They have a book club that’s just the two of them at first but she convives Tang to let Yin, Jin, the purple demon lady (idk what we call her), and the… Little guy… forgot what he’s called, join them! It is the most chaotic and rowdy book club there has ever been

* SD always wanted to have a cliche sleepover and Tang is more than happy to indulge her. They paint each others nails (neither are very good at it; SD is a margin better tho and gets better over time. Tang does not), do face masks and play games like MASH. SD maybe suggests doing a spooky activity like chanting Bloody Mary 3 times in the bathroom. Tang maybe has a heart attack when supernatural stuff actually starts happening. They maybe have to call MK and Mei to save them from said supernatural stuff. They talk about their crushes, oooh~
