Kamen Rider W also had Philip seemingly "forgiving" his family, including Ryubee, in their death, being sympathetic to their predicament to think that they're freed from Gaia Memory influence....
Yeah, there's that too.
Tbh it does bother me as well, considering how Philip was raised by Ryubee after he fell into the Well was... inhumane. Shroud was no better, since she left her kids with that monster- and that's after what he did to her, his own wife. And then she spends ten years obsessing over rescuing Philip, while Wakana and Saeko seemed mostly like an afterthought.
Afaik, W made it look like the unrefined Gaia Memories that they use were entirely to blame for the Sonozaki family's fall into villainy.
As with many people who use the unrefined Gaia Memories they sell, the more they use them, the more they deteriorate- though the Drivers they use lessen the effect somewhat, unlike those who just use them with the tattoo-style connectors who go downhill in a manner of days (or those who had their Memories tampered with, who deteriorate even faster). And in the same way, they also regain their morality after they stopped using them for some period of time.
In the case of Saeko and Wakana, being influenced by those Gaia Memories in their formative years and also being raised by Ryubee in a very fucked up manner seem to be the biggest arguments in favor of them deserving redemption. Especially Wakana, who had moments where her conscience did awaken, due to Philip's influence.
It also helps that while we don't really have much to go on as far as their lives before Raito's death, it seems like they were just a perfectly ordinary and happy (but obscenely wealthy) family. So we can imagine that, had the tragedy of Raito's death not occurred, they would have no reason to seek out the Gaia Memories' power and they would remain that perfectly ordinary and happy family.
I'll admit I'm not normally a fan of redemption via death, but I think W's case is one where it works for the purposes of the story. After all, they all started down this road because Raito died. And now, they ended this road by dying so Philip can live once more.

Do you think that the Sonozaki parents' case is similar to Gentoku's case where it's just an external influence that turned them evil (Nebula gas for Gentoku, would be Gaia Memories for the Sonozakis) where without it they're just an alright people? Philip claims that but you don't seem to have as much sympathy for them like Gentoku.
Well, for one thing what the Sonozakis did to Philip wasn't an effect of the Gaia Memories. In fact it was them using Philip's connection to the Earth's True Memory that they were even able to create the Gaia Memories to begin with. So we can infer that they were treating Philip as less than human even before they got their Gaia Memories. And it was not long after Philip's first resurrection they started using him to mass-produce the Gaia Memories (since we see in the flashback portion of Movie War Core that Dopants were already running around 10 years before W started).
Secondly, the Sonozaki were actively aware that using the unrefined Memories (as opposed to the refined ones the Riders used) was going to have the side effect of sanity slippage (which their version of the Drivers only barely staved off). Yet they still went ahead and used them anyway- and it's especially despicable on the part of the parents because Saeko and Wakana were likely still kids when they started using them.
Honestly, I'd venture to say Wakana had no clue about the sanity slippage effects. Saeko definitely did though since she had qualms about Wakana's Driver being tampered with (though ultimately that did happen and Wakana's personality definitely went downhill afterward).
On the other hand, Gentoku getting exposed to Nebula Gas was pure happenstance on his part. He wasn't even the one supposed to be there- he was just attending the event on behalf of his father. And while I wouldn't put down all of the blame of Gentoku's wrongdoings on the Nebula Gas, it certainly did its part in bringing out the worst in him. The difference was, of course, he wasn't fully aware of how the Nebula Gas affected him, until he was actually cured of the effects and brought back to sanity.

It's amazing how much of a 180 Shion's attitude toward Satoko makes when she remembers her promise to Satoshi.

I think Shroud and Skull probably became very distant from each other after the events of the Skull flashback movie with the spider dopant. I mean, Narumi was like "my new thing is Count Up Your Sins" and Shroud is uhhhhh. Her journey to admitting she did Everything Wrong is a long and arduous one that's going to take her like 15 years and an accidentally created super-murderer or two along the way. It's funny to imagine her continuing to live in Skull's basement long-term but I think it's more likely that they continued to work with each other because they were the two strongest anti-Museum forces in the city, but didn't really trust each other as allies.

it is pretty weird being over 30 episodes into a series and still having barely any idea of what's going on
#we r like 6 episodes into higurashi kai?#and even with all of the exposition we are still like.#so whats up with the aliens.#and the ppl who kill rika bc that got scaled way up#like in the first season theyre heavily implied to be some sort of large organization orchestrating most if not all of the deaths and#disappearances. but in shions loop its made to sound like the sonozaki family isnt in control of or in direct relation to this organization#but most of the explanations so far have been the main three families being the ones pulling the strings.#but from what we are seeing it seems more like a separate organization just taking advantage of the social structure of hinamizawa?#like when satoko was in a hospital outside of hinamizawa she was still able to be killed easily#and with the abduction of the grandkid from tokyo#so like. idk. it just doesnt really feel confined to hinamizawa#it feels more like hinamizawa's whole thing is being taken advantage of by some much larger organization for the sake of like#developing biological weapons or smth#it just feels kind of weird how theres a crime explanation (organization killing people) scifi explantion (aliens and parasites) and#supernatura explantion (demons)#but we as the viewer already know for sure at least some of the supernatural stuff is true bc of rika#and the time loop#so honestly we are thinking that all three explanations are at least partially true#and they all are just converging on this small town 😭#it feels kind of like each character is more closely related to a certain “ending” or “explanation”#like rena with the parasites and aliens vs rika being reincarnated in the time loop vs satoko being persectuted#idk. it just is weird being pretty decently far into a series and still not having certainith about whats going on 😭#confluence.txt#higu our beloathed

Adult Shion is so cute, I also love her outfit 🥹💖 and the detail of the title being ''Houjou Satoshi&Shion'' because Shion in Reiwa is no longer a Sonozaki but a Houjou🫶can't wait to see them again at the Watanagashi in Irotoutoshi soon🤗 I would love to see a family moment between them and Satoko!
Natsumi Kei suggesting that it seems they have gotten married earlier and have had children earlier compared to the other club members...Shiisato children?! I absolutely want to see them, please Ryukishi 🥹 Satoshi and Shion being the first and also the youngest to become the parents, so cute 💕
There's also a drama CD that takes places like in 1993 where Satoko is about to become an aunt and wants to be the ''nee-nee'' of her upcoming nephew/niece💓

Episode 4 of Kamen Rider Gavv was kinda sad but it also gave us some more background information about Shoma.
Welcome back Sonozaki family.
Anyway another note, none of the family members seemed to be happy with their father having a child with a human and do not refer to Shoma as his name but anything else or nicknames they've give him, also Shoma himself refers to them as brother and sister while the others don't seem to consider him family.. :(

okay so I had figured there was
Mion - the fun competitive tomboy who does the club activities
and Mion Sonozaki - the yakuza princess/torturer who is crushed under the weight of her family legacy
but neither one of them seems to ENJOY the tormenting people.
so who's this?

Submissions open for the Siblings Tournament.
SUBMISSIONS CLOSED
Submit some siblings along with where they come from and (if you want) propaganda through ask or submit a post.
Top 6 submissions are the ones I submitted myself.
Sibling relationship must be canon. Because of this I won't be counting characters who see each other as siblings, simply because I feel like it could be difficult to confirm the canonocity of that.
Incest is banned.
All Tournaments can be found on my pinned post. There you can see the ones that have been completed, the ones that are currently running, the ones that are pending and the ones that have submissions open.

Higurashi When They Cry Hou Ch. 7 Minagoroshi pt. 1
Tumblr media
I know I'm probably giving it way more thought than I should but I wonder why the MangaGamer release of Higurashi calls them Higurashi Hou. I seem to recall reading somewhere that Kai means answers (maybe Umineko? I don't remember), so I just wonder why the Steam/GOG releases call them Hou. According to a quick googling Hou means way or method? Then there's Hou - Rei, Hou+, I don't really want to go deep diving into it at the moment because I've still got these two chapters at least to go.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This might sound sarcastic but I genuinely like that this is how this chapter opens. I'm certain it'll go back to the formula of the club doing their usual shenanigans, then eventually the terrors, but I like how this opens with a frank discussion about Rika and the time loop.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wonder why the universe, or whatever you want to call it decided to use Shion as the murderer twice. I want to theorize that there's some sort of importance for the fact that of the five chapters set in 1983 it used the same killer twice, but I can't really come up with a way to explain it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't know why I never really thought about the fact that Ooishi is near constantly the instigator of the murders and events. It's easy to try and posture that with the explanations being given that I totally and completely called and figured this out. But the truth of the matter is while I did sort of notice that Ooishi seems to start the plot towards its eventual conclusion I never really did anything with that information. I was about to argue that he wasn't really that big of a part of chapter three I remembered that a lot of the stuff involving Teppei and Satoko's abuse never really came to the fore until he showed up to question her about Rina's death in that chapter.
The thing about Takano is I don't really know how much of her own bullshit she buys. I know that in the scrapbooks she goes out of her way to paint the Sonozakis as the central pillar of the conspiracy of the day, but how much of that is genuine belief? I don't have much to base it on but I get the vague impression that her attempts to pin it all on the Sonozaki family/Three Families is all a red herring that she's trying to mislead people into believing for some reason. The why and the what eludes me, assuming of course that's right, and it's not just she's bonkers and just writing whatever. I do get the impression that her entire reason for explaining/mentioning the Onigafuchi Swamp, the curse, all of that is entirely just for her own personal amusement. She's trolling the cast for reasons.

This I find interesting, why doesn't Rika possess any knowledge about what happens during the curse killings of 1980-1982? Is whatever's ruling over the timeline of 1983 able to suppress her memory of it? Or does it tie in to the fact she doesn't remember anything around the time of her own personal killing? I can't explain to you why I'm so much easier going with the aspects of the Hinamizawa mystery here being potentially explained away with magic bullshit than I was with the shown to be blatantly untrue parasite/aliens explanation but I am. Maybe because the mystical aspect has been established a lot longer than the sudden appearance of parasites and aliens? Maybe I myself am slightly spoiled due to having read/played Umineko first so the idea that witches are behind the fantastical crimes doesn't bother me as much. That's not idle speculation on my part, there's a screen relatively soon that mentions the idea of Rika being a witch.

So with this I think it's safe to assume that shortly after the events of Onikakushi Rika did get killed. What entity is constantly killing Rika? I doubt that it's the same person getting Tomitake and Takano. At some point around their deaths in Tsumihoroboshi I started thinking that Takano is probably behind Tomitake's death. I have no real basis for this assumption, I just think it's highly likely she would be one the one to inject him with the drug that makes you kill yourself. It feels more plausible than a group of cultists ambush him, then inject him, and then just let him go. It also makes sense if you assume that Takano's belief about the parasite is based even slightly on reality because this way she could verify the effects of the infection with her own eyes. The fact she dies almost immediately afterwards is kind of irrelevant to this, because I don't think she ever expects to be gotten on the day of Watanagashi.

When I felt happy or excited, I lost words. The opening clips was so good it made me lost words.
It just so full of Found Family Vibe that I liked so much.
Sachika had a Big Sister Vibe. I hoped her character would not suffer a decay.
I also hoped she did not become a Rider or (implied) love interest to anyone.
Could they make another female character as the next female Rider?
I think Sachika accidentally summed up Shouma’s situation with his family.
Stomach Family reminded me of Sonozaki Family.
Did the Stomach siblings committed patricide?
I wondered how Shouma would react if he eat Chitato.
Death of thousand cuts. By potato chips.
What kind of form produced from eating banana chips?
Toei gave us double Momma’s Boys. What a plot twist.
I wondered if Shouma had his own monster form. Was his Rider form supposed to be his Granute form?
Granute targeting humans when they were happiest reminded of Garo episode where the Horror used its power to cure critically ill humans, saving them from despair and gave them new hope for life. Only to kill them in that state.
I wondered how Valen received his transformation form. Did Shouma spit them out as he did with his sword?
Considering the story was about snacks, I thought they would show the characters finishing their meals on-screen. I missed a scene like Shouichi finished a whole bento while the theme music played in the background.
The toothbrush finally showed up.
