Another thing for my Grim = what’s left of the original world.
the grim is desolate and lacking in pretty much everything.
The shards seem to have an element associated with them. Green is obviously plant life. and the boscage maze is overgrown because of it. Thorn’s role ties in perfectly to it’s power. She blocked the others out both physically and emotionally. Blue has shown an affect on wind and lightning so I think it’s storms/weather. It would make sense in a flooded world if blue was storms. And it would pretty cool to give a pirate something that controls storms. Dread has also shown to be chaotic and somewhat unpredictable like a storm.
I’m not sure for red. It’s mostly been used artificially so far and seems to be more technology oriented. Which also fits for Nine and/or the Chaos council.
So if the grim is the original world. It will need plant and weather, among other things and they’re gonna need the shards to do it.

Spoiler for Sonic prime, not much details but heads up
Ayo- guessed who watched Sonic prime and then promptly made a possibly angsty au where sonic and shadow's...
home world is permanently shattered and that Sonic's access to other shatterverse poked a hole in that reality and so got shattered on the process. with only the remaining survivors of those worlds left, they settled in The Grim, much to Nine's dismay. Also shadow stayed in the shatterspace 'cause he doesn't wanna deal with anything and it's not too bad and it's quiet but kinda pops in to remind sonic he's an idiot

Deeply intrigued by the fact that Sonic didn't encountrer an Eggman in the jungle or pirate Shatterspaces but New Yoke City has five.
Similarly, I am also deeply intrigued by the fact that the "clean slate" world that Nine takes Sonic to exists, considering that theoretically the Paradox Prism fragmented into mirror versions of Green Hill and it doesn't look like the Grim is one of them.
Initially I thought that the Chaos Council could be all the alternative Eggmans that should have been part of the different Shatterspaces, which would also mean that there would be five worlds (five versions of Green Hill) in total.
However, none of the New Yoke Eggmans fit with the jungle or pirate universes — plus, the Grim is just barren terrain, no Green Hill landmarks to be seen so far, so I don't think that's it anymore.
There's also the fact that the Chaos Council is just Eggman's different life stages (baby, teenager, 30-something, middle-aged, and old man), which is not the case for the alternative versions of any other characters.
So, here's what we know:
Most of the Shatterspaces are replicas of Green Hills and its inhabitants, but at least one of them is just a chunk of random empy land, which suggests that the universe has been more broken and fragmented than I had thought initially, and/or that the multiverse is larger than it seems.
Not all Green Hills inhabitants have replicas of themselves everywhere.
There's Sonic and Shadow, obviously, who don't have any replica at all so far — but we know they have been affected differently by the shatter because Sonic hit the Prism directly (which imbued his body with Prism energy) and Shadow was mid-chaos control when it broke (which locked him out in the Shetterverse void).
But for some reason I can't see yet, Eggman was also affected differently from either of them or everyone else. He was closer to the Prism than anyone (other than Sonic), I guess, but he wasn't touching it. And yet the original Green Hill Eggman is nowhere to be seen and we have five others in one single Shatterspace.
Hm.

yknow when i first watched this scene i knew nine was just trying to manipulate the chaos council into keeping sonic alive, but when you think about it, it’s SO sad how protective of sonic nine is. all it took was for sonic to be nice to him like one (1) time and he already decided he’s ride or die for this hedgehog :(

Anyway the shatterverses are based on each character and something they said while Sonic was flying through the void. Eggman's New Yoke without Sonic, Amy says the jungle is the most beautiful place, i dont know what the hell the pirate thing is bc it focuses on knuckles but he is just like tell me who to smash but i swear im right he still searches for pieces of the chaos emerald so it fits-

Why Nine Is Loved So Much Already
Just watched Sonic Prime and it is AMAZING! It has stellar animation, unforgettable characters, and an engaging and exciting plot.
Among all of that, however, one character stood out to me more than all of the others: Nine. The "edgy, emo" Tails from the first Shatterverse. He's already a prevalent character, praised for his design, nature, and fantastic acting by Ashleigh Bell. He's just an excellent character in general, being complex and complicated.
He has a snarky, distant, and almost broken personality, from what I've seen, he IS almost broken. He's nearly broken because of what drives him in the first batch of episodes: Hope.
Hope can be an excellent thing. It can help you overcome obstacles, it can help you move forward, and it can help you win. However, what that hope exactly is and how you achieve it determines your character and morals.
What Nine HOPES for is a better future for himself. That is a good thing, however, the way he tries to achieve it is morally grey. It is a selfish hope that can potentially hurt others. Nine KNOWS it's selfish, he just doesn't care, the world treated him like dirt, and EVERYONE on it treated him like dirt, why should he care about how it affects it?
One more thing to note is how he acts around the others, Sonic specifically. He is curt, snarky, aloof, and strictly business with them, seeing no personal value in them other than using them due to how the world around him is.
Sonic, however, he's softer and opens slightly up. Sonic is open, kind, and patient toward the kit, something Nine never got to experience. He likes Sonic but doesn't know how to feel about it. He doesn't show trust in the blue blur. He likes him, but he isn't sure if he can truly trust him. But despite that, through out the series, the only time he genuinely smiles is with Sonic, no one else.
That's why he wanted Sonic to join him to live in The Grim with him.
Tumblr media
Sonic makes him feel good, he makes him genuinely happy. He never thought about getting Sonic home, he only thought about getting the hedgehog to HIS idea of a true home.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One where it's just the two, where nobody can ever hurt them again. To him, it'd be the perfect world, a place where it's just him and the person he's close to.
Tumblr media
But then Sonic tells him it's not going to work out. The worst part?
He's right.
Not just because of the problems with the Shatterverse, but also because it really isn't going to work out for them. While it's never outright stated if looked closer you can see that Sonic likes TAILS, not NINE. He cares for Nine BECAUSE he is a version of his brother, not because he cares for the separate person he is.
Nine is NOT Tails. Not just because he is different from Tails, but because he just isn't. Compared to Sonic, Nine isn't much better either. He DOES like Sonic and WHO he IS, but it's because of what Sonic can GIVE him that he does.
To Nine, Sonic can bring him EVERYTHING he ever wanted: A home, love, care, companionship, and family. To Nine, Sonic is his HOPE. If he loses that, he's back to square one, and that is what he desperately DOESN'T want.
It's heartbreakingly tragic and horribly unfair to both of them.
Another thing is his backstory. It wasn't over the top, it was what everyone EXPECTED to happen. Because Sonic wasn't there he was bullied relentlessly and became cold and resentful of the world. It's simple and not over-exaggerated and I appreciate that. It's not annoyingly complicated or trying hard to make you cry, it's just a simple statement of what happened. And that's the part that hurts, that we were RIGHT.
Because we were already close and emotionally invested in Tails, it was easy for us to sympathize with Nine. This was a character we loved, and looked up to, only to become cold and emotionally exhausted towards everything around him.
But the part that is great about him is that we don't know what his arc is going to be. Is he the character that opens up more and makes friends, is he the character that remains neutral, or is he going to be the true villain? We can't figure it out.
He's complicated and confusing but it's BECAUSE of that that we love him so much.
The final reason is the fact that he's just THAT character you WANT to win. He's so heart-wrenchingly tragic you just want him to achieve his goal of being happy, no matter HOW he achieves it. Even if he becomes the true antagonist I KNOW that all of us would root for him anyway because he DESERVES to win because he LOST so MUCH.
And that's why he's quite possibly going to be the greatest character ever written (not that he wasn't already in my opinion) in the Sonic universe.

Episode 2: “The Yoke’s On You”
The Chaos Council discovers Sonic’s connection to their coveted power source and plans to extract it — by any means necessary.
Episode 3: “Escape From New Yoke”
The rebels clash with the Chaos Council over the “Crystal” that gives the Council supreme power, sending Sonic even deeper into the Shatterverse.
Episode 4: “Unwelcome to the Jungle”
In the jungle world of Boscage Maze, Sonic meets strange tree-dwelling versions of his friends, who live in fear of a familiar “monster” down below.
Tumblr media
Episode 5: “Barking Up The Wrong Tree”

Episode 6: “Situation: Grim”
Rocketed back to a New Yoke in full revolt, Sonic finds Nine fleeing for a barren new Shatterspace. Can Sonic snap him out of his dream in time to fight by his side?
Episode 7: “It Takes One to No Place”
Sonic lands in the deep seas of No Place, a Shatter- space where partying pirate versions of his friends are led by Knuckles the Dread, who harbors a secret past.
Episode 8: “There’s No Arrgh In Team”

ooh what if sonic prime starts after tails is KIA, or just before the shadow fight, giving sonic a maddening opportunity to bring his friends back as he meets the likes of nine further destabilising him and the fact that he has to talk and see his previous victims. Mabye he takes nine up on the grimm world proposal
God, that scene where Sonic was trying to get to Nine in the subway station would be so much more heartbreaking
He sees who he thinks is Tails and chases after him, her gets into his lab and spins him around… only to realize it’s NOT Tails
Even when Nine takes him to the Grim and says they can make a new home for the both of them, free of anyone’s judgement. And while Sonic would love the idea…. He has to say he can’t, cause he knows that sooner or later he’s going to snap without someone else to feast on

Uhh... It's 12 am... Uhhh... Prime thoughts before i forget to type them down
The implications of the Shatterverse and its future
So obvious things out of the way first, the name Shatterverse implies that this is a universe that's divided, broken. Not a multiverse necessarily, but interpreted as just one universe divided in smaller parts, smaller "universes" of their own.
Now, what will Sonic have to do to restore his old home, if that even is possible?
Put the pieces back together so that they make a whole again.
With that said? What will happen to the universes once the prism is back together? What will the different versions of his friends think of it? Will they be okay with giving up their lives, their worlds, the relationships that they built along the way (with or without Sonic's help)? They've lived their entire life's without him, why throw it all away now for a guy they barely know?
What about the rebels that are fighting to restore their old home? Would they truthy be sold on the idea that there's a universe where that's possible? And even if they are, it wouldn't be them, living those lives, just another version of them.
What would Nine say? Would he give it all up for Sonic? After what they've been through? Would he really give up The Grim to give Sonic back his actual friends, his actual, wonderful, world, his actual best friend? A friend who is not him?
The jungle crew just got back together, they just made peace, Thorn and the scavengers are a whole family again, are they really going to give that up?
And God knows Dread would rather die than give up his shard.
This all just makes "going back home" an essentially selfish thing to do in Sonic's eyes, what will he do then? What would Shadow think of all of this? Would he stay stoic and push through with the plan of restoring their home they'll most likely have, or feel torn between the salvation of his reality and the others'?

Knowing that the events of both IDW and Prime (debatably) exist within the games' continuity just adds to how fucking exhausted Sonic is in Frontiers

Nine is such a complex character!
Like-! He's been bullied, hurt, shunned. He avoids everyone because whoever he comes across has hurt him.
He is in the grey area, his moral compass is ambiguous due to the absence of any care of friendliness or even hope. He is fifty-fifty. He isn't bad, not an antagonist, isn't supposed to be one. And when the one person who encouraged him, gave him hope and was kind to him shows up, he seems to slowly gradually switch. In every scene, he is fighting an inner battle between his nurture circumstances and his moral conscience.
He doesn't want to help the world, he says he won't help the world, but he went back anyway still. There is light inside him, a goodness, a spark of hope and loyalty. But it's shadowed by so many layers of hatred and bitterness that sometimes he misses it even when trying to catch it.
He is so angry after being captured by the council because he came to help, he trusted someone, but was caught instead with no one coming to help him out. He left the Grim, probably after having to fight an inner battle, only to lose everything he had worked for for so long.. He feels betrayed and that's why he is angry. He doesn't know the others aren't at fault for that but the kid is genuinely going through a lot. And even after all that, he still tried to talk the council out of killing Sonic and got angry when they decided to syphon all the energy from the hedgehog.
Nine is upset, he is angry, he is hurting, he is constantly fighting an inner battle, he is being disloyal because no one has taught him about loyalty, he is broken, he is just a child and has seen a life's worth of shunning and struggles, he probably still hears people gossiping about his two tails when out of surveillance, his character arc is unclear but deep down, he is still a version of Tails. The brave and determined Tails who never gives up on hope. Nine is fighting alone, he doesn't have the resistance (or basically anyone in the city for that matter) to back him up like Knux and Rubble do. No one except Sonic cares about him and he knows that. And Sonic not having come to help lets him assume that the hedgehog either left him or doesn't even know.
Point in case, Nine the Fox is far from perfect. He has his flaws, he isn't falling in line to help the city, he is often selfish, but he is being that way for multiple reasons. Nine isn't a bad guy, he's just going through so much that he can't decide on black or white. But at the end of the day, he is the best character in Prime and deserves the home that he never had.
He won't turn out to be the bad guy. There is a Tails still inside him fighting to break through. I am rooting for this fox.

Imagine Sonic from Sonic Prime, right? Now, imagine you’re his s/o and you got transported to another world just like he did but it was the world Nine found in episode six “Situation: Grim” and you’ve been there ever since, Sonic broke the Paradox Prism, not knowing a way out. Now imagine that Sonic had somehow found his way into “The Grim” to quote Nine, without Nine directly taking him to “The Grim” like in episode six, and you watch from afar as he falls onto the ground and starts to full on sob, his mind, body, and soul aching at the thought of you. He couldn’t even find an alternate version of you in any of the worlds, thinking you had permanently been erased from every existence. Seeing him like that for the first time felt worse than a punch to the gut, like your heart was being ripped out of your chest. Your soul shaken to its core seeing him like that. You slowly walked up to him as he was still sobbing, not knowing you were there. He pathetically attempts to wipe his eyes despite the waves of tears still coming on strong as he looks up, his eyes blurry and tinted red around the edges as he looks up to see your silhouette. Even with his body still trembling and shivering from the utterly crushing feeling of you being gone forever, his quivering lips barely managed to spill out…
”…Angel…?”
Maybe a part two with nsfw? I want to practice my writing skills! What did you think about this, do you want to see more?
-🌖 anon! ᐕ
THIS IS SUCH A LOVELY, YET HEARTBREAKING IMAGINE... the thought of sonic believing he's erased you from the worlds, only for you to be discovered in one of the farthest places;;
Tumblr media
i know me and everyone here would personally love to see more! (nsfw or otherwise, your brain is huge)♡

I'm out in public but quickly
sonic prime. I assumed that all the shatter spaces had a version of amy, tails, knuckles, rouge, everyone who wasnt sonic or eggman. because of how the original universe shattered. but the grim has no one. why. because something happened to wipe everyone out? or did they never exist there? if so does that mean there are other shatter spaces that are empty or dont have sonic's friends? why are the shards transporting sonic to worlds where his friends Need Him, is that intention, are the shards sentient, or os it just coincidence
