i just want you to take me where your heart is
a diluc ragnvindr x female reader highschool au.
overview: and who could possibly be the golden boyâs type?
wc: 2k
notes: imagine diluc with his hair down in this one. and also. dilucâs father hasnât d-worded in this au so heâs the happy diluc we all know and love before shit hit the fan ( we still love him even after shit hit the fan tho )
Diluc Ragnvindr is prim and proper. Chivalrous and wellâmannered. The star athlete of the Favonious Birds. Intelligent, a leader, and a great speaker.Â
And of course, heâs every girlâs dream guy.Â
â. . . And yet, heâs still single,â Kaeya remarks with a smirk, and his friends around him laugh in unison.Â
Currently, heâs eating lunch with them in the campusâ outdoor park â a place of tranquility where some students prefer to hang. Instead of being involved in the hustle and bustle of what goes on in their cafeteria, be it your average food fights or impromptu musicals incited by a certain twinâbraided man, said outdoor park was a better option for these lads to unwind.
âYou know, I used to think that he and Jean would look good together,â a friend of Kaeya says, and they all turn to him. âSheâs just like him: elegant and grades conscious. Takes part in student governments and volunteers to school events. Plus, sheâs drop dead gorgeous! With her brilliant blue eyes and smooth blond hair, oh, if I was Diluc - I would not hesitate to date her!â
âNah, I think Lumine is better,â They all glance next to their right. âSheâs sporty, and she can definitely keep up with Diluc. She aces her tests without any difficulty, despite doing a partâtime job every night with her brother in a nearby coffee shop, and itâs rumored that she makes the best drinks! Moreover, sheâs a beauty. Thatâs why she keeps on receiving loads of love letters during the Windblume Festival every year, so it will not be surprising if sheâll be getting them again!â
Ah, yes. The Windblume Festival is fast approachingânow that January is about to end, in the next two weeks, Brightcrown High Schoolâs air will surely be filled with nothing but endless romance.
Kaeya gazes up above, where a giant tree shadows their figures with its bright green leaves. The sunlight filters through the gaps and he basks into this moment of peace. He then adds playfully, âAnd Diluc will be busy tidying up his locker once more, because it will be filled with chocolates and letters.â
âWhat?! Does he even eat them? Tell him that he can donate, you know!â
Kaeya huffs, âMy brother wonât even give me a piece, what makes you think heâll hand you one?âÂ
He remembers the time that Diluc had been so overwhelmed by the plethora of sweets, and yet seemed so appreciative about it. Father was just proud of the older sonâs popularity. Kaeya offered to help him consume them all as a joke, but Diluc shook his head vigorously, saying that he shouldnât, and that âthey all worked hard for thisâ, and it was right that he only eat them.
How adorable of him, really.
Plus, Diluc even read the letters one by one. No matter how cringe or sickeningly sweet they were, Diluc read them all. And Kaeya wasnât even shocked that there was no judgment in his face.Â
Diluc was just grateful for the gifts. Bashful, indeed, and sometimes he was not sure what to feel, but he was grateful.
âSo, Diluc. Who will it be? Jean or Lumine?â Kaeya questions with a grin that afternoon, when the Windblume Festival is finally in full swing.Â
Diluc raises his head from the paper heâs answering â itâs a survey given to him by one of the juniors for their research subject â and frowns. âWhat brought this on? Why am I suddenly choosing between two friends?â
âOh come on, you werenât even listening!â Kaeya pouts, before sitting on a nearby desk.Â
After exploring the premises for some snacks and attractions, the brothers decided to stay inside an empty classroom for a while. They can hear some cheers from the outside, loud declarations of love and squeals from the majority, that surely Diluc thinks would be a delight for Kaeya, but has opted to accompany him instead.
âI was.â Diluc purses his lips, and hears laughter echoing through the halls as students run and get chased by disciplinary officers. âYou and your friends were talking about the girls and I. I just donât understand why you want me to choose. And be careful, you might fall. Donât move so much.â
âCooome on, Diluc,â Kaeya groans as he leans, âWeâre sixteen, arenât we? Father says weâre at that age, after all. By that, I meant, where weâre all supposed to be dating and courting?â
Diluc feels his cheeks slightly heat up from the words that escaped from Kaeyaâs mouth. He returns to his duty of answering the survey. ( As if he needed to, when he was already done. ) âAnd I told you countless times that Iâm not interested. Need I remind you that I donât have the time for it. You know I still have to prepare for college, and that I have to keep an eye on my varsity scholarship, andââ
âYadda, yadda, yaddaâââ
âDonât yadda me, Kaeya. Thatâs just how it is.â
âYou seriously arenât interested?â Kaeya prods.
Diluc shoots him a firm stare. âAbsolutely positive.â
And Kaeya sticks his tongue before hopping from the desk and making his way to the door. âFine. But donât think youâre off the hook just yet.â Diluc watches his retreating back. âIâll make sure to find you a lady, and itâll be your type, and youâll fall in love.â
Kaeya pulls the door open. He confidently says, âItâll be inevitable, Diluc. Inevitable!â
A small smile creeps its way to Dilucâs lips, finding this all amusing. âThen I wish you the best of luck.â
Kaeya huffs, not liking that Diluc seems so smug and unbothered by it, then leaves.
Diluc waits for a while. And waits.Â
And waits, until he blinks, checks his survey, before sighing heavily.Â
A brilliant shade of red coats his pale cheeks, and he buries his face in his hands.
Dating. Courting. The type of lady Diluc likes? Yeah. Diluc already has found his type.Â
( Kaeya doesnât have to know yet. He hates lying, but itâs too soon. Maybe someday. If Diluc can face his feelings first. )
So, hear, hear! Heâs not missing out, in spite of what his friends say.
This person is not what everyone expects; itâs not the formal and polite Jean who can deliver a speech eloquently, nor the radiant and loyal Lumine that they want to push toward his direction.
Instead. . .itâs someone else.
And that someone else dropped a bowl of soup to Principal Varkaâs white slacks. That someone else triggered the anger of a certain math teacher because she climbed the roof so carelessly during class to fly a kite. That someone else got into detention and instead of writing Iâll be good from now on one hundred times, spent the day with the others in that session to tell ghost stories.
That someone else was you, who wasnât like Jean or Lumine. That someone else was youâthe you, who was his exact opposite, and yet managed to capture his heart.Â
You are one of Mond Highâs known troublemakers, and apparently, he has fallen victim to your charms.
Maybe it began when you were just snickering with your buddies in the library despite the librarianâs persistent shushing. He was solving his quadratic formula worksheets back then, and he was impressed that even if you were fooling around, you were in the library to actually learn more about the cardiovascular system, with the help of a fellow friend.Â
(âI will be proud to say that the one that carries the blood away from the heart is. . . arteries!â
âYouâre right!â
âYay!!â
âShh!â)Â
Or maybe it began when you witnessed that one student who humiliated himself by accidentally slipping on the wet floor in the cafeteria, and everyone sans Diluc laughed. Then you came to his rescue, marching in the middle with all the attention on you.Â
You didnât offer your hand.Â
But you purposefully slipped instead, and even had the most embarrassing fall. The cafeteria became noisier because of you, and Diluc, baffled at first, found himself chuckling soon after.
Actually, no.Â
He didnât fall in love with you during those times. These were the times in his life that led to this one very momentâ
When the Favonious Birds lost the tournament, Diluc was sulking in the playground, all by himself. He took the blame despite Kaeya and his friends denying it, but he knew better. If Diluc had just made it quickly to the ring, their team couldâve been victorious and brought the trophy home.
But alas, it was just an if. It didnât happen.
Then, something wet drops in his hair. Then his arm. And nose. It was about to rain, and Diluc just grunted, not caring one bit. He was sure Adelinde would make a fuss about it, or his father would pester him for his carelessness, but he wasnât in the mood to leave his spot just yet.
Let the rain wash away his sorrows.
Pitterâpatter. Pitterâpatter. Pitterâpatter. Pitterâpatter.Â
âDonât match with the gloomy weather now.â
Diluc slowly lifted his head, wondering who spoke and what covered his pathetic and hunched form that was wallowing in despair. And his eyes grew wide when he saw you, almost bending with an umbrella in hand, sheltering you and him from the incoming downpour.
You smiled down at him, âThere it is. Keep your head up, King! Your crown is falling.âÂ
And Dilucâs heart skipped a beat the same time a thunder rumbled from the distance. âWâwhat. . . ?â
You continued, âI donât know what got you all so sad, but everything will be fine soon! Iâm sure of it! After all, once the rain passes, there will be a rainbow!â Then, you grabbed his cold and even bigger hand, and Diluc, at that split second, felt the static. You didnât even react. But your hand was warm, and Dilucâs chest was, too.Â
Dumbfounded, he let you guide his fingers. It only came to him long after that he was gripping a metal handle. âHave my umbrella! I hope this will make your day a little better, and if it doesnât. . . well, at least I tried. But I have to go now!â
You quickly put the hood over your head when the rain grew stronger. Diluc, concerned over your wellâbeing, finally regained his composure to protest. âBut what about youâ hey. . . !â
He watched you run and wave, bidding farewell. âYou donât have to return it to me! Itâs all yours! I really have to go, so see you, maybe? Bye!â
âBut. . . !â
And Diluc. . . Diluc could catch you if he wanted. He could sprint and return the umbrella to its rightful owner, but he didnât.Â
Instead, he remained in his position.Â
And his heartâ oh, his heart. His heart couldnât stop pounding that day.
You are Dilucâs first love.Â
That is established.Â
The thing is, this is a secret. No one knows yet. Just him.
Heâs never felt this towards anyone before. You are his first.
( And hopefully the last. )
Youâre different from everyone else. Youâre different from him. You have your own unique methods of doing things. You have your own way of paving your path. You are the artist to your own canvas; the director of your own film.
You are like the sun. You brighten everyoneâs day with your presence, and you also shine, because Diluc canât keep his eyes off of you whenever youâre in the vicinity.
He knows that this is really an unexpected outcome â him, who was definitely out of your league and vice versa, catching feelings for someone like you.
( Someone like you who is free in life, and Diluc wants to feel that, even just for a bit, with you. )
But like before, all he can do is merely daydream and wonder about the whatâifs. What will it be like to be your friend? Will he experience all the shenanigans that you ensue? Will he also fly a kite with you? Will he get into detention?
Yet this is unbecoming. Improper. Inappropriate for someone like himâfor the eldest son of the Ragnvindrs and for the next heir of the winery. He canât indulge into lighthearted affairs or mischief. Heâs supposed to be responsible and disciplined. A man of propriety.
So all he can ever do is have these thoughts. Just thoughts. He has more important matters to attend to, like college applications, training, lessons in handling the in winery business. . .Â
And . . . thereâs no way that youâll approach him again, right?Â
Diluc knows to himself that can do it instead, you know. He can approach you if he must, but . . . heâs just so shy.Â
And a lot of people are always around you. So who is he to burst your bubble, when you seem so finally content with your life?
Diluc peeks from the open windows and sees couples holding hands and sharing kisses. Briefly, he imagines what it would be like to experience romantic love during Windblume.
He feels his cheeks steam again.Â
Kaeya will surely have a field day once he sees his older brother being lovesick like this.
You really are one of Mond Highâs troublemakers. And itâs not only because you prank your friends or piss off the teachers, but you make it hard for him to focus.Â
Just thinking of you never fails to make his heart perform somersaults.
He is Diluc Ragnvindr. Prim and proper. Chivalrous and wellâmannered. The star athlete of the Favonious Birds. Intelligent, a leader, and a great speaker.Â
He is not every girlâs dream guy.Â
Because unfortunately, the girl he likes doesnât even see him in a romantic light.

VI y V A. C, mazyies o maxyes.

Sammy Ingram Is A Liar
I have known Samantha a.k.a. Sammy for over 10 years. We used to be extremely close friends up until recently. I had to cut her off, because my self, and some of our other friends called her out for constantly lying in her videos. She has already cut off Other friends for calling her out. One of our friends, Tallia, called her out over a year ago, publicly, and Sammy pretended to not know who she was. Sammy has been a habitual, and pathological liar her entire life. She used to lie about her race, and heavily edit her photos and tell people that they werenât even when it was extremely obvious. She would tell people she was Hispanic, then she would tell people she was half black. She knows how to manipulate people into believing whatever she tells them. I will attach messages to this thread. I was recently blocked after trying to upload a video about the situation on YouTube, she reported my video immediately, and it got taken down for bullying and harassment. I tried to re-upload it, but since my kids were in the background of my video, I think itâs safer, if I donât.
She always tries to silence everyone who calls her out. She cuts her friends off and blocks us. Then she pretends as if she doesnât know us. She has never manifested anything in. This is not her first time using social media to scam people. She has admitted to us that she steals other peoples videos. She has sent me links of other peoples post and videos, saying she was going to make a video like it. She talks shit about her coaches, and even tried to scam some of them. Which is why her coaches are constantly leaving. She always says she doesnât care about her clients, she just wants to make money. She always complains about her clients and her situation is calling them names and laughing at them for being desperate.
Around the time of her fatherâs passing, and I reached out to her and told her that I pray she stops lying and does the right thing. She got mad at me and wouldnât talk to me for a few months. When she did reach out to me she told me she would confess publicly. me and Tallia, are used to create google accounts, and Facebook, pages and fake success stories for her. We were commenting, 20 or 30 success stories under all of her post. When she started her Facebook group, we would post success stories from accounts we created. She literally asked us to do this, so that people would buy her coaching and think she was legit. And she used to buy her Instagram followers. She used to tell people she was Hispanic, which is not true. She would lie about where she is from. All she does is lie. She never manifested Bobby, I have no clue how she made him agree to even filming videos about it. But Iâm sure she Gaslite him or manipulated him as she did so many people we know.
She has a burner Twitter account that she used to use to bully people online. The account is still active and she uses it to defend herself, pretending to be someone else to anyone who sends her hate online. She pretends like itâs a supporter but itâs actually her. You may have noticed this account around. She blocked all of her friends on this account along time ago, so I donât remember the name of it. Iâm sure one of you can find it and figure it out. I years ago, she would always create fake accounts to bully people or make herself seem better. Since she is a good liar and manipulator, itâs usually easy for her to get away with everything. Iâm sure she has brainwashed her followers into believing everything she says. she loves playing the victim and always has. Every time she starts some thing with someone, itâs always their fault. She is constantly throwing rocks at people and then hiding her hands. This has been going on way before this YouTube channel.
Iâm sure like always. She is going to pretend like she doesnât know me. The same thing she did to TALLIA I will see if I can find a picture of us together. Please help me get this message out. I worry for her son Major Devon Ingram every single day. I pray he doesnât end up like a pathological liar like his mom. I tried to tell her for years she needs to confess to all of the fucked up stuff sheâs done. She continues to say she will, but I doubt she will ever. I cannot wait to see how she will lie and manipulate her way out of this.

My Peak TV Journey *Betty la Fea La Historia Continua*
I need to say upfront, that I was really excited about this series, and I remain mostly satisfied. I look forward to the second season continuing (and wrapping up?) this story. I also finished watching the edited-for-Peacock version of the original. I will say that the sequel is for people like me, people who think the original loses steam after the return from Cartagena. While the original series shows Armando in touch with his emotions, it doesnât show him having any idea how to act on them in a healthy manner. Despite this he and Betty accept that theyâre still in love, generally better together so they get together without resolving Bettyâs deep trust issues, or how Armando still needs to learn anger management and better communication skills. Itâs amazing they lasted as long as they did.
I donât want to fight anyone over the quality of the series, but there are some things I have to defend. Namely the structural differences between the sequel and original. By structural, I mean mostly pacing, cast size, and how information is revealed. The differences between setting up a story that will most likely run through through hundreds of episodes more or less uninterrupted for over a year vs something that the two episode once a week, for a total of ten where continuation will be indefinite is essentially a change of medium. The techniques and rules for storytelling change. The now de-cannonized sequel spinoff Ecomoda is criticized for being too much of a sitcom when figuring out how to deal with similar structural change. La Hisotria Continua is more like the original telenovela in tone and plot points, but those have to unfold differently than the original. (Also in being more like the original, itâs going to torture its main characters anew. If you canât accept it, donât watch and donât comment.) In the original an early episode is dedicated to Betty and Nicholas reading a magazine covering an event Ecomoda hosted, with flashbacks to said event. Through this we really get to know many of the major characters and what they are trying to do. This season comes with the assumption that we are familiar with most of the characters, but we donât really know what theyâve been up to, and most importantly, we donât know how they relate to the new characters. Crucially, it isnât laid out so we know what kind of danger Betty is walking into this time. In the original the intrigue was âwhat will happen?â Here itâs more âwhat has happened?â This comes with mixed results. The first episode especially felt needlessly confusing. And even by the end of the season, there were things, like how and why Majo got involved with Ecomoda, that I wish had been clarified already. However, there was a moment in the second episode made it more clear that they knew what they were doing. This starts with Betty telling Bertha and Sandra that she was not a good president of Ecomoda because she only made the rich richer. I took this as a sign that this was taking on the extreme classism in the original, how it was mostly treated as âthatâs the way the world worksâ kind of way.Â
The series opens at Don Robertoâs (Armandoâs father) funeral. Armandoâs relationship with his father was always fucked up though the original series seemed to lose interest in the more negative aspects of his character as it went on. One of the messed up things about their relationship was how accommodating Roberto was to Daniel, son of his former business associates and Armandoâs rival. The not too subtle subtext is that Roberto thought of Daniel as a more serious minded person for business and wished Armando was more like him, while also showing little to know interest in anything else about who Armando was as a person. He didnât have much interest in who Daniel was as a person either. This all business approach helped him appear to be out of the fray, when he really very much was in it. In the new series, through a video of his will, Roberto sets up a plan for Ecomoda that manipulates a reluctant Betty back into the office of the presidency while telling Armando how he once again failed as president. No wonder after Robertoâs death Armando is haunted by visions of Roberto saying Armando should have spent more time in prison, and that he doesnât deserve someone as wonderful as Betty. The latter statement is ironic, given that Roberto treated Betty pretty coldly. Everyone ignores the fact that in the original series when they first met he refused to shake her hand. Roberto definitely deserves some of the blame for how Marcela became a lingering presence over Betty and Armandoâs marriage, and Betty never feeling entirely welcome in the Mendoza family. And of course as we later learn, her fired Betty to appease Marcela, when that was bad for everyone.
Looking back after the season, I think Marcela might have been the character who most benefited from the changes in structure. The story was put into motion by her worst qualities, her anger, lack of curiosity, the ways she isolates herself. But she didnât have enough air time to for these traits to become too tiresome and have us give up on her. And she is left in a position where she has to make some life changing decisions. We learn early on Marcela blames Betty for Danielâs downfall. Betty was aware that something was wrong with the company financially, alerted the police and the investigation led to Daniel being arrested for money laundering and then being murdered in prison. But, for the plot of this series, the real issue is how aggressively Marcela only sees what she wants to see. Marcela seems to have natural blinders towards so much in life. She wants vengeance against Betty and Armando by forcing them out of Ecomoda and then taking over with Ignacio. But she is not paying attention to what Ignacio is doing. When she learns if a lot of it in the last episodes sheâs appalled. Her relationship with Ignacio is the inverse of how she treated Armando as a boyfriend. But it is reminiscent of how she never had interest in the running of Ecomoda, never checked in on Armando and Marioâs business schemes and ignored how her brother sexually harassed her best friend. So her not checking in more on Nacho feels in character, if a part of her character thatâs always been frustrating. After the reveal that Ignacio is her half brother, instead of her nephew as she believed, I began to wonder if it was a revelation to force her to change this aspect of her character? Does knowing her father had a second family make her aware that this isnât just keeping her head high out of the muck? (Or whatever she says to herself.) Sheâs ignoring things that matter. It also made me think are we supposed to reassess her constant monitoring of Armando during their relationship as some kind of subconscious way of making up of all the ways she ignored the poor behavior of the men in her immediate family? For most of the season the relationship between Marcela and Nacho was treated as a mystery, much of the office assuming that he was her boyfriend, while fans knew he was a secret member of the Valencia family and having the full answer include how much Marcela doesnât look at or explore things involving her familys interesting. I hope the next season follows up on this. Some of the follow up will involve Pascual, Nachoâs secret parter and Marcelaâs new love interest. Iâm not sure Pascual will actually be good for Marcela in the long run. She needs to have her single minded desire to hurt Betty and Armando broken by other desires. And I donât think sheâs thought of wanting anything else for a while. But he gives mixed messages all the time. As a secret patter who express interest in becoming part of the high society fashion world. But in his first scene he says the line âPara mi papero y papito son los mismos nombres.â Indicating heâs not that interested in changing his identity. He has a couple of ugly divorces and says he wants to be fawned over by models, but he also is instantly smitten with Marcela and pursues her with the most blunt and crass language I can imagine. He also has as little interest in remaking Ecomodaâs image as he does his own image, to Nachoâs presumed chagrin.
Marcela also had surprisingly little interaction Patricia, which did affect a lot of the show. Itâs an interesting way showing of how people have changed and stayed the same. During the first episode I hated Bertha and Sandraâs jokes about Patriciaâs husband. They were gross and agist. (Later meeting him at the quinceñera flash back made Patriciaâs relationship seem like elder abuse. But, I kind of like that Patriciaâs in a relationship that she wants to be known, but doesnât want to bring attention to. Itâs a change of pace from the original where she was single, desperate and frequently saying how she could have a boyfriend whenever she wanted. The change seems like an appropriate response to Daniel regularly offering to pimp her out to his friends. I also like that she was promoted to Gutierrezâs position as a way to show everything being different but similar. Patricia was always about bossing around el cuartel. Gutierrez also seemed to think of his job as chiding people back into looking busy whenever. The change in position a good reason for Bertha and Sandraâs renewed hatred for Patricia a fits with the ways Gutierrez was awful. Berthaâs obsession with âchismeâ might actually make her good at the job, She can make people feel seen and heard and communicate between workers and executives. People could feel more motivated to work when they understand more of what is going on in the company. But it doesnât fit with the intense classism that rules Ecomoda. It would be a view of the position completely alien to Gutierrez. Â
As I was saying earlier, whatever is going on with Majo, Mario and Armando seems more needlessly confusing than intriguing. Why is Armando friendly with Majo again after her kiss at the end of the first episode causes such disruption? Those scenes with the them at the club were weird. I donât for a second believe sheâs an alternate love interest, but why should I care? As the season went on I find myself more intrigued by the lack of scenes between Majo and Mario. He talks her up whenever heâs alone with Armando and even expected her to have a conjugal visit with him in prison. Yet she never talks about Mario, and they never talk directly to each other. Iâve come to think of her as not so much wanting Armando, as wanting Armando to want a divorce because that what Mario, her secret real employer, wants. But this is based on absence, rather than whatâs on screen. For what does Mario want control over Armando? And why is he still so bad at vetting potential business alliances? I hate the character of Mario, but the season could have improved by filling in some gaps about what heâs up to.
Bettyâs alternate love interest, Esteban, isnât a better defined character than Majo, but at least heâs not supposed to have created some kind of bond with the main characters off screen in the time between seriesâs. Heâs a better alternative love interest than Michel in that heâs a better listener and has more in common with Betty. But heâs still too boring to compete with Armando.
As someone who always thought Armando didnât show enough what he learned, os that he necessarily knew how to be, I kind of loved events on the third and fourth episodes as revisiting things in the original series. This included punch Esteban like he punched Nicolas in the original for being a perceived romantic rival. While that was a new low originally, it didnât motivate Armando to change his behavior. If anything, the original series suggests that violently lashing out is fine when youâre lashing out at the right people as demonstrated by him later punching Mario. His attempt to change includes joining a group therapy with Freddy. This leads to revisiting Armando in drag, only this time to better understand Bettyâs point of view, not simply be emasculated for the failures of his toxic masculinity and homophobia as in the original. In some ways I felt for him more in this series than I did in the original. He just seemed so lost, but also not putting himself at the center of everything as he did in the original. Betty briefly made him VP of Finances, a role to which he is not suited, but doing so gives him the time to confess to his misdeeds on his own time. I found myself wishing that they made Armando majoring in something more mechanical a bigger part of his character. Then I could say âthatâs what heâs good at.â But he seems otherwise most interested in maintaining vendor and supplier relations which seems closer to Marcelaâs specialty. Being at Ecomoda is bad for him as a person. During the flashback to the fight while Betty left him he says he sacrificed his social circle for their relationship. There is a truth to this. Marioâs ability to slip back into his life is a sight of how real it feels. But the bigger truth is that between the hours he spent at Ecomoda, and the class rigidity of the institution, he never had the opportunity to make new friendships. This is poignantly present in his scenes with Freddy, where we see how hard it is to accept Freddy as a friend.Â
All this talk about how social hierarchies having ruinous effect on personal itâs time to do a brief, segue about the uses of âustedâ and âtĂșâ in both series, with the caveat that I am neither a native Spanish speaker nor a Colombian nor someone whoâs ever been to Colombia. I know Iâm missing a lot of cultural context. I have heard that Colombia uses âustedâ more than other Spanish speaking countries. Still, the use in the original seemed extreme. It helped illustrate the ingrained classicism of the original. Betty and Armando reverting to âustedâ even en a flashback to happier times, after beginning to use âtĂșâ near the end of the original is a bad sign. It adds opportunity to misunderstand one another and hints that they havenât quite gotten over the class divide after years of marriage. In the original it sometimes seems like one has to be upper class to deign tutear. The Cuartel, Bettyâs parents within their relationship and with Betty, as well as Betty with NicolĂĄs all use âustedâ with each other despite being personally close. In contrast to this Patriciaâs use of "tĂș" comes off as impudent, and NicolĂĄs only uses "tĂș" when trying to impress Patricia by pretending to have more money than heâs worth. This language barrier, in the original Betty sees herself as an extension of Armando who always had to prove herself. (This is common amongst Ecomoda employees, see Bertaâs reluctance to share Gutierrezâs home phone number while he was sexually harassing Aura Maria and Sandraâs self-flagellation after lying to Mario.) By the new series Betty strongly associates more with the employees of Ecomoda than any of its owners. Which explains her return to âusted,â and Milaâs regular use of âtĂșâ as a sign of how hard it is for them to get each other. The continuation seems pretty aware that this emphasis on formality was a not great set up for life.
Mila starts the season very angry with her mother and ends angry with her father. While taking notes I surmised that all the hurtful things Mila said to Betty early on showed a fear of understanding what happened between her parents. She knew it was too potentially painful. She chose to support Armando because she thought he wanted to reconnect in a way Betty didnât. This fear is completely founded, and when she does find out about her parents history, the reason her mother quickly abandoned trust in her father, she switches allegiance. Though this happens right around the time Betty is starting to consciously realize that her reactionÂ
Early in the season Betty says something about needing to break vicious cycles. Sheâs right about that need, but her technique of just cutting off all contact is by now her own contribution vicious cycle, and therefore counter productive. She would have known more about what she was walking into returning to Ecomoda if she opened those emails. Also, while she definitely had the right to be angry with Armando about how his failed negotiations with Roberto and Marcela affected her, and the way she was cut out of them, it would have been better for all if after a couple of days of cooling down they decided to meet for counseling. The extended radio silence was just bad for everyone. Also I would like more detail on what Betty and Nicolas were up to in their time away from Ecomoda. I am under the impression that Doña Julia was ill and died during that time period, so Betty spent a lot of time with her mother during her last days and shut off any contact Armando tried to make simultaneously. But what else? What was she thinking about as possible futures? Nicolas is even more of a blank slate. All I know is that Mila has apparently t been telling Iâm for yeas that the amount of hair gel he uses makes him look older than necessary. She is right, see any picture of Mario Duarte out of character.Â
While I wish more detail was given to Bettyâs life away from Ecomoda, I like pretty much everything about how she acts after she returns. As I said before, I like how explicitly she relates to non share holding staff instead of favoring the actionistas. This includes her room ring Freddy and demoting Mario. I hope there is more follow up on that next season. More concerning this seasonâs plot, I like that Betty got the heads up about financial shenanigans from Hugo. It was unexpected, but in character for both. Also it reflects poorly on Marcela, who could have gotten answers to what Armando was doing if she just talked to Hugo like an equal.Â
I donât know anything about the Colombianâ legal system. So I canât say anything about how realistically or not Armando turning himself and Gutierrez in between the episodes. The important thing is how it plays in comparison to his downward spiral after Betty exposed the Terramoda scheme in the original. Which is that heâs more willing to take responsibility for his actions, go public and not pick fights. Betty also has changed since then, demonstrated by going to visit him in jail and talk. Then they have sex in a scene reminiscent of their first time in the original, only with some roll reversal. This is emotionally confusing for Betty. In someways exactly the situation that she thought of to justify cutting him off with no contact. On the other hand she gets to speak to someone who cares about the real emotional turmoil affecting her and learns more about Ecomodaâs quagmire.Â
Another aspect recently revealed aspect of Betty I would like to see more of is the things that led Betty to tell her father that he wasnât a great husband. He wasnât, but it was something that couldnât be articulated outside of some face making Doña Julia did, and the way Betty and her mother hid things from him. It fits with a theme of the series of saying things they couldnât say in the original. Hermesâ dogmatism is in conflict with Bettyâs journey of becoming more of a humanist.Â
Iâm now going to wrap this up by writing about the new generation followed by some thoughts on finish the original series in a more complete way than ever before.
Other than Mila, Ignacio is the best defined of the new characters. Viewers were quick to say he has the Daniel Valencia role of the original. After all he is someone aligned with Marcela acting antagonistically towards Betty and Armando. And while this series played with that assumption, the two characters are most interesting in their differences. Ignacio is charming while Daniel was aggressively not. To the extent Daniel had charm, itâs based on the idea that heâs saying to your face what other people say behind your back. As a guy setting up a mass surveillance program through Ecomoda, Ignacio not going to pretend that heâs the one person telling the truth to your face. But he sincerely does like Mila, even though the circumstance means heâs betrayed her before anything started between them. At the end of this season I found myself wishing that there was more time spent on Jeff and Carmen so that the love quadrangle that Mila and Ignacio are with them felt juicier. Itâs got long running soap potential.Â
Finishing the original while watching this has brought back some of the dread that I had going into the last section of the novela. Much of the post Cartagena plot feels like the show is spinning its wheels before deciding how to hastily rush to the finish line. Contributing to this feeling is the over reliance on flashbacks. The scenes involving Bettyâs return to Ecomoda are particularly bad with this, and they didnât even cut them from the Peacock edits. (These would have been some of the first edits if I were supervising it.) This section drops various subplots, including Inesitaâs estranged husband coming home to die, which real does make the way the series doesnât know what to do stand out. Theresa are some high points likeel desfile del Cuartel. But that is also supposedly the resolution of the Sofia/Jenny plot, and itâs not satisfying as such. I get that the cast and crew were exhausted, and some of them had signed contracts to work with other tv networks lessening their availability. But on a level of pure drama, these plots points are simply inexcusable. Also dropping the cuartelâs pilots makes them worse friends. They suddenly only have gossiping about Betty going and no respect for boundaries or treating her like an actual person, instead of the lead in a telenovela. Equally inexcusable is how because Armando now is conscious of his feelings for Betty, the fact that so much of the way itâs shown involves violating her boundaries by stalking her on meetings he wasnât invited to and secretly steeling and reading her diary, is why I canât be too angry at Betty for dropping him the way she did.
This time around I was aware of how often real life designer Bettina Spitz had her name dropped and showed up on screen. Didnât even realize I was missing that before.Â

I⊠don't know what to say. Mirio Togata (Lemillion), from "My Hero Academia" and my avatar, Majo Pearce (YĆsei) have been increasing their family đŠžââïžâïžđ§ââïžđ
My friend Aki Amatzura made another daughter for them, Mirei and I gave her a twin, Himawari. I think that Mirio and Majo were not planning or closing themselves off to having a third child, but "surprise!", they were 2. At least, knowing Mirio, he'd be more than happy with the idea of ââhaving a big family đ„č â
So, there are 4 MiriJo kids:
đ Mitsuo Togata: The eldest son. He is 8 y.o., his favorite color is orange and wants to be a professional hero like his parents đŠžââïžđ
Permeation His quirk allows him to become intangible, letting him pass through any tangible matter, including light, sound and air.
đ» Himari Togata: The 2nd daughter. She is 4 y.o. she likes the color pink, plushies, and unicorns đŠđ Ground permeation Her quirk allows her to make intangible the objects she touches, as long as they are composed of rocks and minerals.
And the new members, the twins:
đ Mirei Togata: 3rd daughter and Himawari's twin sister. She is 2 y.o., her favorite color is blue, she likes birds, circles, and a Mirko plush that she has. She loves her paternal grandfather and her hair is two-tone from birth. She inherited her mother's western eyes, as Himari, and she usually wears her pacifier. She is sweet, quiet and calm đŁđŒ Rocky permeation Her quirk allows her to control and make intangible any kind of stones, rocks and minerals.
đ Himawari Togata: Youngest daughter and Mirei's twin sister. She is 2 y.o. too, her favorite color is brown, she likes teddy bears, stars and shiny objects. Her first teeth have not finished coming out, so she usually constantly bites anything she has nearby. She inherited Mirio's round eyes and blonde hair. She is mischievous, restless and cheerful đ§žđŹ Inorganic Permeation Her quirk allows her to become intangible and pass through any tangible inorganic matter, such as metals and minerals.
They are not identical twins, that's why they have some different features đŻââïžđ

No encierres a mis primas, no prives a tus sobrinas.
Mamita, no llores mis cenizas.
Combatti perchĂ© possano urlare piĂč forte di me.
Perché possano vivere senza paura, mamma, proprio come ho vissuto io.
