Character Intro: Ascalaphus (Kingdom of Ichor)

Personality- He's a broody yet eccentric young god who loves intellectual pursuits, gothic aesthetics, & a deep appreciation for classic literature and art. He's currently single.

He has the standard abilities of a god. His other powers/abilities include limited chlorokinesis (as it pertains to plants & flowers native to the Underworld), limited necromancy, being able to communicate with/shapeshift into a screech owl, limited umbrakinesis (shadow manipulation), and limited hydrokinesis (as it pertains to the waters of his father's river).

Ascalaphus is the only child of his parents- Acheron (Titan god of pain) & Orphne, a lampade.

He lives with his parents at their mansion in the Underworld. Ascalaphus' room is on the third floor. The bedroom door is built out of blackwood & there's also a terrace where he can overlook his father's river. The flooring is black marble while the walls are brimstone- covered in posters of his favorite bands, singers, movies, and deities. Instead of a laptop, there's an antique typewriter. In his room there's a simple trundle bed covered in dark blue satin pillows & black quilts, white onyx shelves for his book collection, as well as his blue-black iCHOR Tech wireless speaker that's automatically connected to Musify.

Ascalaphus is his father's twin with their olive skin, brown-black eyes, and facial features with the only difference being their frames. Acheron has a lean muscular build while his son has a bit more muscle. He feels like his mother feels left out because she doesn't look like them with her brilliant dark blue eyes, dark obsidian skin, and thick curly hair.

He's fluent in Latin.

He keeps his ink black hair short & shaggy.

Ascalaphus has a few tattoos- large owl wings on his back, a pair of dark blue eyes (dedicated to his mom) on the inside of his left wrist, a skull surrounded by black dahlias on his right arm, and the quote "What nourishes me destroys me" written in latin on his left pec. His good friend Achlys (goddess of the death mist, poison, misery, & sadness) did the tattoos.

A go-to drink for him is beer. He also likes red wine, pomegranate brandy, his dad's jallab, his mom's homemade blackberry iced tea, ginger ale, hot chocolate, black tea, mineral water, and cola.

Ascalaphus primarily writes in cursive.

For breakfast he'll typically go to a corner store to get a sausage, egg, & cheese on a hero on toasted rye bread. If he's gonna be on time for school, he'll have a bowl of steel cut oats topped with dark chocolate chips and maple syrup, a bowl of Earhtly Harvest raisin crunch cereal, or his mom's omelette- added with black olives, mushrooms, & ghost peppers.

Ascalaphus loves listening to classical, synth pop, folk, rock, heavy metal, rap, and death metal music. His favorite musical artists to listen to are Moros (god of doom), O, & the death metal rap band Death Theater- comprising of Hades, Charon (Ferryman of the Underworld), his friend Hypnos (god of sleep), and Thanatos (god of death). He also thinks that Pale Blu isn't too bad either.

He's currently a freshman at Polydegmon University, the most prestigious college in the Underworld. Ascalaphus has a full ride- a four year scholarship, thanks in part to his father as well as the king. He doesn't live on campus, an agreed compromise with his parents. Even though it's too early to declare a major, Ascalaphus is thinking about majoring in botany or art history.

Thus far his favorite class has been his gothic literature class taught by his professor- a lampade named Ms. Whiteveil. The sound of her velvet smooth voice while she reads poems and short passages automatically calms him.

He loves snacking on ash plum flavored gummy spiders. He also likes spicy mushroom flavored kettle cooked potato chips & black anise licorice twists.

Ascalaphus has a job of sorts. He tends to to the garden of the king of the Underworld, Hades (god of the dead). The orchard is primarily filled with black dahlias, frost orchids, black thorned roses, and shadow blossoms. He actually likes working in the garden. It's one of the few moments where Ascalaphus is alone with his thoughts for self-reflection. He also doesn't mind the company of the king. Hades will bring him a small cup of dark roast coffee or will lend Ascalaphus a book from his extensive library.

He also earns extra money by picking up groceries for Geras (god of old age) & by dog-sitting Cerberus sometimes.

There's a small restaurant downtown in Plouton Square that makes the best jjajangmyeon (noodles & diced pork in black bean sauce). It's a frequent takeout order for him.

All though Ascalaphus loves his parents, he feels like they're keeping him on a tight leash, especially his father. They didn't even want him to live on campus in a dorm and they especially don't want him to leave or travel out of the Underworld to any of the other realms- Olympius in particular. The Realm of Darkness is all he ever knows and Ascalaphus just wants the chance to experience something new, something different.

At school his social circle consists of cyclopes named Osric, Sybil, & Quintessa (Tessa for short), a harpy named Xerxes, a lampade named Azura (a botany major), as well as mortals named Caspian (a art history major), Rosalind, and Venetia.

Ascalaphus in undecided about whether or not to join the University's fraternity. Osric is a member.

Outside of school he's real good friends with Theodon (god of reality, uncertainty, & fate). They hang out together all the time. They smoke weed sometimes (through use of a Stygian Iron bong) & Ascalaphus will invite Theo to play basketball with him, Osric, Xerxes, and Caspian every weekend at Shadowstone Park. Theodon even tagged along to Ascalaphus' first college party!

He really likes going to the film premier of Blooddancer with Theodon. Ascalaphus even got to briefly meet the director of the film Keres (goddess of violent death). The photo of them meeting is framed & on his dresser. He also saved the ticket stubs!

In the pantheon he's also friends with Despoina (goddess of the arcadian mysteries, frost, winter, & shadows).

Also in the pantheon Ascalaphus respects and admires Nyx (goddess of the night) Erebus (god of darkness), as well as his "honorary" aunts & uncles, the other Underworld river deities- Phlegethon (Titan god of fire), Lethe (Titaness of forgetfulness, oblivion, & concealment), Styx (Titaness of hatred), and his godfather Cocytus (Titan god of wailing & lamentation).

He also admires Favian (god of philosophy) & is a fan of his steampunk historical fantasy book series The Machinery of Alchemists.

The iCHOR Tech soundproof headphones are great when Ascalaphus is working on an assignment or blocking out the sounds of his parents' lovemaking.

Sometimes (without his parents knowing), Ascalaphus will travel out-of-realm to Olympius to pick up Theodon from school. He pretends not to care as Theo drones on and on about a fellow schoolmate Heimarmene (Marnie) (goddess of shared fate). One day while Ascalaphus was waiting for Theo where he noticed him walking down the school's steps with Marnie and another girl. He thought she looked like winter's light with her flawless pale skin and shimmery silver eyeshadow on her eyelids. Her smile was just as bright as she tucked away strands of her short bouncy golden light brown hair behind her hair. When Ascalaphus asked Theo about her when he got in the car, he said that she was Marnie's best friend Eiresione (Ren) (goddess of offerings).

His favorite frozen treat is dark chocolate ice cream topped with pomegranate syrup, dark chocolate chips, and whipped cream.

His favorite dessert is his mom's black rum cake. She makes it every year for his birthday and on the Winter Solstice.

Ascalaphus is not ashamed about the fact that he's still a virgin. He wants to wait until he's emotionally connected with someone to have sex. He did make out with an empousa named Elidi at the college party.

His all time favorite meal is his dad's hearty lamb stew with saffron rice and his mom's scorched chicken.

In his free time Ascalaphus enjoys playing video games, reading, skateboarding, writing, snowboarding, gardening, skiing, ice hockey, cooking (with his parents), ink painting, going to museums, chess, listening to music, and going to the cinema. He's also been getting into photography.

Hades profile

Profile description for my version of Hades for a webcomic I'm hoping to develop.

Hades has a predominantly sardonic personality who speaks very sarcastically with very little filter as to what’s on his mind, often not caring for restraining his own temper. Holds a lot of discontent towards his younger brothers, particularly towards Zeus with his hedonistic lifestyle and loose morals, though Poseidon’s pragmatism can often leave the two of them at odds as well. He possesses the most godly power amongst the three brothers, even before gaining the power over life and death, but he's frankly too tired to take advantage of it. For the most part he seems to only hold concern for Persephone, Macaria, Orthros and Cerberus, for whom he actually shows deep adoration and compassion for, Thanatos and Hypnos, who have worked for him since they were young so they’re quasi-adopted by him, and Hermes, Melinoe, and Zagreus, whom he seemed to raise more than Zeus ever did. The rest of the pantheon, both Olympian and Chthonic alike, could screw off for all he cares. Mortals, both dead and living, he’s pretty impartial to, but believes in acknowledging when a mortal shows themselves to be exceptional, and can often show kindness and generosity to them, despite their inherent fear of him. He is however quick to show his wrath if a mortal tries cheating death, or if they just died through a completely asinine method. 

Unlike the seas and Mount Olympus, which were far easier realms for his brothers to conquer, the Underworld was the native home many Primordials who were none too happy to see that after the tyranny of Kronos was toppled, one of his sons walked into their realm, declaring himself their “king”. However, one primordial, Nyx, saw the potential in Hades to be a sufficient ruler after watching him fight in the war against the Titanmachy, so she appealed to the others to give Hades a chance to rule the realm. Taking to Nyx’s appeal, Chaos wrote up a lengthy contract that Hades was to adhere to by the letter lest he be cast out permanently. Most of this contract is never going to be referred to directly, with exception to the clause that dictates the time he is allotted to leave the realm.

Hades, the undersigned, is permitted to enter the other realms, but will do so only on borrowed time. He will be permitted up to two weeks' time to wander the other realms as he sees fit, at the end of which he is required to return to the Underworld, and is unable to leave again for six weeks. If the undersigned does not return to the Underworld within the time limit, the realm will take it upon itself to return him immediately.

The long time he’s spent underground has left his skin extremely pale, which makes the scars all over his body left from when Kronos consumed him really stand out. His hair normally falls naturally around his face, but when he’s angered, it flares up and almost appears to be made of blue and white fire. When adapting his look from the old Grecian style to a more modern one, he adopts an Italian mafioso aesthetic, wearing a lot of suits and dress attire, gloves and black jewelry.

Back in Olympus he was Thanatos, the god of non violent death. He was the equivalent of a grim reaper.

He was the son of Nyx and twin to Hypnos and loyal to Hades.

This isn’t much written about him besides him appearing in small stories. He was to have hated and hateful towards mortals and other gods.

Now he is Harley Gravett, the misunderstood nurse

Harley was born in Trenton, New Jersey in 1992  on September 11. And since he was born, death is always nearby.

Harley has witnessed many deaths in his life. He watched his grandmother die in front of him at age six. He saw one of his aunts died in a car crash. Most of his pets he had never make it past a year. To name a few.

As a young teen, Harley was your basic mall emo.

He was diagnosed with Psychotic Depression at 17.  

He has now learned to live with it with the help of a lot of medication.

He’s a good guy despite his issues. He wants to keep his darker side a secret except to a small number of people and he will hide his depression from new people.

Despite all the bad things that happened to him, Harley ended up finishing medical school in NYU to become a nurse. Hospitals never scared him like most people.

He was the one they would call when they knew they were going to lose a patient, he was the best one to make sure they were comfortable before passing.

He moved to Ogygia after a decision to start a new life away from his family.

His stressful life didn’t help his depression. It so worse that to a point that his family had to step in. He flew to the island with little money and no plan.

During his darkest time of his life, he would sit out in the hallway of his apartment by himself. He did this because at least if he does something to himself, someone might find him.

He has had history of attempting suicide due to the many voices he would hear.

He is panromantic demisexual . He doesn’t have a preference on his partners. Just someone who can understand him. He will only be sexual with someone he completely trusts.

He has had two serious relationships in the past. One ended with his girlfriend passing.

Harley has a lot of tattoos covering his body. Most of them he did himself with a poker in high school.

Since he was very young, Harley admitted that he could hear and see ghosts. But none of his family hardly believed him as a child.

Since it's Sinday, some thoughts on first crushes and related;

Ganymede's first crush is a young man of a noble family named Nikomedes; he's a couple years older and in his father's personal guard. Nikomedes isn't his first kiss (an unwilling and unwanted one from Minos), and while they don't ever quite get into a relationship as such for several reasons, he gets a couple firsts here anyway. Learns some things he likes, learns he definitely is attracted to men. There's a couple other fleeting crushes on both boys his own age and those somewhat older, but Nikomedes is the main one until Zeus happens.

He does, too, actually try out kissing a girl he thinks is pretty, and learns instantly that just because you might be appreciating someone aesthetically doesn't mean you're attracted to them. Even if he "should" be, and knows he should, at the very least, find women attractive as well, and not just men, but he doesn't. (In some ways, Zeus taking him to Olympus solves several different things.)

Adonis' first crush is Hypnos, as well as one of the Lampad nymphs. He ends up sharing his first kiss with her, and it doesn't get any further than that before Aphrodite enters the picture and that basically hijacks anything and everything else. Adonis never has any conflict over his attractions, but aside from actually being attracted to both men and women, the expectations and circumstances are so very different on him compared to Ganymede there never needs to be any conflict. (He has it easier, in that way.) He also learns some very interesting things at the hands of both Apollo and Heracles, but is absolutely not going to confess to which of them got (his) first where and with what.

Paris basically gets old enough to Be Interested and develops several simultaneous crushes on several nymphs he by that time already knows. While he could tell you each of their favourite songs and flowers and what they like otherwise, he wouldn't be able to tell you which of them was, affection-wise, truly his "first" crush. One of them got his first kiss. Oenone, however (who wasn't among the number of that first crush) is the one to introduce him to the joys of lovemaking, though nothing serious comes of this until a couple years later - but, even that doesn't develop into anything but a temporary relationship thanks to differing views and expectations.

Paris' first crush on a boy is Antheus, one of Antenor's sons. Almost at the same time, Deiphobus notices him as well, and they basically sort of compete over him. Deiphobus wins out, to Paris' distress, and thanks to how and why Antheus chooses Deiphobus over him, he is slightly more hesitant to initiate when it comes to men he finds attractive. (This is technically "canon" as far as myths go, as it's something that's part of of a variant on the Judgement/replaces it. The full/actual myth version includes accidental discus-killing and Paris thus going into the usual exile - with Menelaus back to Sparta for it, and things, uh, happen as they usually do.)

Hello and how are you? What was your thought process while creating Seb. How long did it take you to get the basics down?

Well basically what I wanted was to create an OC that people would hate on. I didn’t really want to make something loveable cuz it was too bland and boring for me so I took a dark turn and I made a list of things the fandom would hate and kinda worked forward from there on.

It took me 1 month to finish the basic characterisation. I'm now revising everything and making few changes. (mostly his emotion powers and life goals, other than those, everything is finalised)

I'm going to divide the thought process into parts and explain each cuz Sebastian is a lot of work:

His godly parent:

Not much to say, If I wanted to make him a hated character all I had to do was make him related to the most hated God. I had considered Nemesis and Hypnos once but writing for them was a bit difficult. I like writing about lovespecifically it’s dark side. Sebastian’s toxicity is based on 2 of my toxic friends.

 Eros was also chosen for Irony purposes (love god is the most hated lol I had to!) also there’s just something aesthetically pleasing about erotica and lovecore.

His Personality:

I didn’t have to do or think much here cuz I just took Eros’s personality and passed it on to his son simply elevating it by making him a yandare. (if u want to know more u can send in another ask for this cuz it's a bit too complicated to explain in this one and needs a post of it's own) Later on after getting together with Octavian he became a bit anxious and sweeter.

His story and life goals:

The backstory: This was a bit of work cuz I kept bouncing from the idea of giving him a sad backstory or a too luxurious one that made him who he is at present. So I gave him both at the same time, a good past but a terrible present and and an even worse future.

Present story: I don't quite remember how I came up with the whole story tbh lmao, sometimes new stuff just keeps popping into my head and I keep adding it on here. The timeline was difficult but i got it through!

His Future: Was not planned. I didn't know what to do so I k!lled him off. There are two versions of this, one where Tav dies and other where he survives (this is a very gorey and disturbing story so I don't talk about it)

His realationships:

This was actually discussed between me @theevanparker and @whatrambles . So I had a lot of help. they also helped me with some parts of the story.

His powers and abilities:

POWERS: Well I mean Rick had already explained how love kid powers work. So not much changed, I discussed this with my friend and we added a few extra powers like: “Comforting and irresistible aura”, “effects of charm speak is extended to physical touch and eye contact”, lastly “being pretty skilled in archery”. They aren’t born with all these powers. 

ABILITIES: He couldn’t rely on his powers alone so I added Taekondo as his main fighting style along with using a spear. 

(His ability to perceive emotion went under a lot of change which I'm not sure how to explain. just instead of not being able to process it, he now can sense them more distinctly and "absorbs" love)

His appearance: I barely made an effort here tbh. I just drew myself as a boy gave him a scar and called it a day.

He’s going through a redesign rn. I made his hair less poofy and more straight. His face structure is a bit more roundish.

people who inspired him during the process:

As a whole character, not anyone in specific, just basic Anime villains. there are so many villains in anime who, despite doing the shittest things are widely loved and simped for. I say this with experience cuz I am too one of those Simps and it really fits the whole “he’s a jerk but he’s irresistible” part of his powers. 

His Taewokdo skills: This was inspired by a character called Seong Taehoon from the webtoon How to Fight also called as Viral Hit.

His fashion sense: I know I barely draw him in anything except his oversized jacket and jeans but i’m trying to widen his style and it’s inspired by these guys:

I just turn their outfits into lovecore designs.

Him being a Serial K!ller: The idea came from another manwha character who I can’t name cuz it was a pretty disturbing story. Him targeting Romans came from Octavian’s obsession to kill all Greek demigods.

can also see child of hermes because i feel like he would fit in with the chaos and general mischief over there

think child of nemesis would fit quite well with the smidges of dsmp!sap lore we’ve gotten so far but not so much irl sap

literally the dream tech channel is hephaestus!gnf and athena!gnf truthing

but at the same time you could mention like a wildcard god or some really obscure minor god and i could probably see it

hypnos? sure he sleeps a lot!

demeter? fits with mushroom/farmer lore aesthetic he has going on

hecate? kinda would be a vibe won’t lie

there are defo more obscure minor gods that would probs fit but i’m going off who has a cabin lol

maybe after all this he’s just a hermes kid

tldr; dream son of poseidon, sapnap either ares or hermes, george I prefer the athena angle but respect aphrodite gnf also
