展覧会に行ってきたメモ

国立西洋美術館

憧憬の地ブルターニュ　モネ、ゴーガン、黒田清輝らが見た異郷　展

東京・上野

　初っ端からウィリアム・ターナー入れてくるのが上手い。イギリスのグランドツアーの話からブルターニュへ旅に出る画家の話を始める。元々グランドツアーはイギリスに歴史的な遺跡が少ないことを理由に、英国富裕層が海外の異文化への憧れを持ち発生したもの。本企画展でターナーを初めに見せることで、画家たちがブルターニュという異文化を求めたことを最初に提示してるだ��な。

　ブルターニュは現在フランス領だが、元々はブルトン語という独自言語を持つブルターニュ公国という独立国だった。フランス植民地となりのちにフランス革命中に併合される。画家たちがこの地をテーマとし描くのは、元々フランスではなく別の文化を持つ国という歴史を持っていたことが重要だったのだろう。それこそ、　「異郷」　なんだろうね。

リュシアン・シモン　「庭の集い」

　天才の明暗〜〜！！！明らかに自然光ではなく照明なのが目を惹く。画面左側に人物が集中しており、更に色彩も寒色の中に暖色で目立つ！画面の構成がめちゃくちゃ良かった。

　黒田清輝など日本人画家の絵もたくさん展示されてるのが後者のブルターニュ展と比較して特徴的。白馬会だけでなく不同舎の面々も。

　あとアンリ・リヴィエールが結構あった。浮世絵に影響を受けて木版画とか描いてた画家。空の感じとか広重の影響がま〜わかりやすい。リトグラフの色が美しい。

アルフレッド・ギユ　「さらば！」

　これを最初の展示室にバーンと置いてあるインパクト。嵐で転覆し、生き絶えた息子に別れのキスをする父親の絵。原題だと「Adieu！」で軽い挨拶ではなく長い別れを意味する言葉。しかも語源がさぁ〜「a Dieu」神の御許へって意味で完全に祈りの言葉な訳で……画家本人がタイトル付けたかわからないけどめちゃくちゃ良いと思います。

　嵐という気候から始まるのが面白い。荒波が特徴的な場所らしいね。ブルターニュという土地を詳しく説明してるのはこっちだと思う。独立云々の話もこっちで解説してた。

　アンリ・ジャン・ギョーム・マルタン　「ブルターニュの海」

マルタンの絵があったのは嬉しい収穫。新印象派主義のマルタン好き。構図自体は簡潔だけど色彩と筆致でしっかりとした絵に仕上げてくる技量、見まして？天才ですよ。

　SOMPO美術館、最後にゴッホのひまわりが置いてあるんですけど同じ部屋にポール・ゴーギャンの　「アリスカンの並木樹、アルル」　が展示されてて思想を感じて面白かった。ゴッホに寄り添いすぎ。

ブルターニュの光と風 　画家たちを魅了したフランス〈辺境の地〉

フランス北西部・ブルターニュに魅了された画家たちが描いた作品を通じ、同地の歴史や風景、風俗を幅広く紹介する展覧会。 ブルターニュに限定してこれだけの作品が集まるのも凄いと思う。馴染みのない地名だし、地図で見ると本当に端っこ。 自然豊かな海辺の地域なので、海や海岸をテーマにした作品が多い。しかし描かれた波は荒い。厳しい気候らしく、嵐などの荒天も多かったそう。日本でいうと、日本海のようなイメージだろうか。 海難事故をテーマにした作品が、本企画のアイコンになっている。 船で遭難しかけた男と少女…に見えたのだが、実は男の子。 背景を知らない私は、ギリシア神話かニンフがモチーフなのかなと、呑気にかまえていたのだが…。 実は、漁師である父と息子なのだという。突然の天候不良に見舞われ、命つきかけた息子を抱く父。 タイトルは「さらば！」この後、息子の亡骸を海に手放したのだろう。フランス語タイトルは「 Adieu （アデュー）」。 作者のアルフレッド・ギユは地元出身の画家だ。

海をテーマにした作品も多かったが、地域の文化や風習も題材になっている。痩せた土地だったのだろう。収穫したじゃがいもを集める女性たち。広場の様子。伝統衣装を身に着けた結婚式。 何度か取り上げられて��たテーマの一つに「パルドン祭り」。この地域の宗教行事なのだという。パルドンは英語にするとPardon。すみません、という時に使うあれだ。

いくつか気に入った作品があったが、残念ながらポストカード化されておらず。いや、空の棚があったので、売り切れだったのかもしれないが…。 SOMPO美術館は、東郷��児作品作品とゴッホ「ひまわり」で有名なので、こちらのグッズはいつでも充実しています！
