100% agree. And anonymous people/fan behavior aside, I think this is why so many are annoyed/mad at Luke’s friends because they’re not looking out for his best interest or protecting his privacy. They post things that hint he’s with them and sometimes what’s happening in real time.

He doesn’t post much on social as it is, and yes some fans I’m sure make him want to be on social less, but his friend group is not helping. They seem like a very self-serving group and that makes me sad for Luke. Especially because he and Rory have been friends for so long.

The only person who seems to be protecting and being respectful of Luke is Nicola. Deleting nasty comments about him on her posts and even swapping out a pic she posted on her insta story to avoid more speculation about the Polaroid in her phone.

And the contrast between Luke and Nicola is she has this incredibly supportive friend group who protect her at all costs. Even throwing some shade when necessary lol.

Luke needs to surround himself with better people if he’s going to have any chance of a long career. His current group are going to ruin things for him and he doesn’t deserve that.

I know he’s done some questionable things like not promo BS3 online as much as others have but for someone who isn’t online much, it’s probably not always top of mind. Especially after doing so much live promo for months.

Anyway, just want to give my two cents. I wish nothing for the best for Luke and I think if he surrounds himself with more people like Nicola and her friends, he’ll be a big success in whatever he does. And that includes if he’s active on social or not :)

Friends are a tricky subject, because while I can look in on Luke and his core group of friends (you know the ones), I can obviously see some questionable things (like not caring about his privacy at all), but I also don’t truly know their motives or who they are as people. 

I’ve had 2 people in my life (who I had been friends with for years) that I had to cut out of my life. This wasn’t an overnight process though. It was a process of accessing situations, forgiving them, then continuing the cycle. It took me a while to even realize that there was a cycle, and that it was a cycle of my own doing.

(I have realized as I have gotten older that it's okay to drop people, but I also realize that it is never an easy thing to do)

My situation brings me to thinking that the friends aren’t solely to blame, because Luke is the one that is friends with them at the end of the day. He has chosen to stick it out with them, and let situations happen that they know fans will see. I am also sure that some things were done unintentionally and the thought process wasn’t about the fans. I like to give the benefit of the doubt sometimes.

Luke and his friends know that fans follow the group (this was even before season 3) to catch a glimpse of Luke. There should be more care regarding the optics and digital footprint that they are all bringing to the world/fanbase. Because when they post about Luke (even a hand or a leg), they are adding it to the fanbase and making it public. 

(I also think everybody should stop following these people, it’s not like any of them are doing anything of importance - that sounds mean but it’s honest)

Nicola said in her Harper’s Bazaar: Life Lessons interview, “surround yourself with people you want to be like”. It seems simple but can also be hard to do depending on where you are in life. Nicola knows who she wants to be, so she knows who to surround herself with. 

With friends you always want to give them the benefit of the doubt, you want to help them in bad and good situations, and it’s easy to look at things with rose coloured glasses in friendships (in any type of relationship really). This is especially true if you are kind, or empathetic. 

I’m sure that Luke has talked with his management and they have informed him of how things are being perceived by the public. I’m sure Luke had an idea even before a conversation had happened. Now we just have to trust that Luke understands his situation and makes the changes necessary (if he wants to) to continue to grow his career.

i enjoy damien and angela together in videos (mostly because im a fan of either of them seperately) but i really cannot see them romanticaly together lol, or being that tight with each other even as friends. is that a cmon thing in the damngela ''ship'' here? i cannot decide if damngela is as big of a thing some twitter users make it out to be or if they are just exagerating because of how much they hate it? one of the first things that comes to my mind when i try to picture them romanticaly/or that close is in the video ''why we are bad at first dates'' with angela and courtney, angela talks about how she doesnt like it when his date has a lot of selfies with cringy faces etc. just in general cringe factor gives her the ick. and i love my boy damien but he is so unapologetically cringe on social media while also posting a lot, his instagram presence reminds me of older instagram where people whould post random selfies with bad lighting or just post random stuff that now mostly go on stories, most other people now (esp famous people but even non-famous people have the tendency of posting like they are lol) use insta as this curation of really well picked pics while dam just posts whatever and loove making those dumb faces lol. this is small but it reminded me of him when i first heard that and it made me giggle thinking about the possiblity of her cringing to those

Damangela definitely isn't as big as Twitter makes it out to be, ESPECIALLY with shipping them. I have only come across a small handful that actually romantically ship them, and even then they aren't being weird about it (opposed to Shourtney shippers or Ianthony shippers, some of those guys go a little wild)(Referring to invasive shippers)

Personally I can see why someone WOULD ship them, they both are big theater kids (they have stuff in common), they are both very attractive, they do a lot of 'flirtatious' things to each other sometimes so I don't find it too weird for people to see that and say "They like each other!" especially since I know what it's like being a teen and seeing two people that you like (and maybe crush on) and want them to be together.

It's a totally natural process that I've experienced before, no shame, IT'S FUN. (being young and figuring out what you like and who you like is a big part of growing up).

I do think a lot of people that are really aggressive towards Damangela is coming from not liking Damien or just being hyper focused on other Angela ships? a lot of the accounts that I've seen not liking them are big Amangela and Courtgela shippers (it quite honestly looks like shipping wars from back in the day lol) Which again, no shame in shipping! I find those ships fun too! it just seems really weird to be attacking another ship because you don't like them. (anytime I've perused twitter looking for edits or content of Damangela I mostly see people hating on it, it's weird)(I don't post about ships I dislike? but freedom of speech <3)

I think this is hilarious considering whenever Damien makes stupid faces Angela is ALWAYS pointing and laughing at him, and saying she loves it when he does it lol. I really don't think that's a reaction of cringe, if anything she thinks he looks lame and wants to bother him about it BECAUSE IT'S FUN. (does she not realize she does stupid faces too? "waitress in a small town" face anyone?)

I have things that I get the 'ick' from too, but if I really liked other aspects of a person it wouldn't bother me as much, if at all. I'd probably (and have) ended up really liking the thing that gave me the ick if the right person was the one doing it. (thin line between love and hate kinda thing)

I can see why people would be acting weird about Damangela because they want male/female relationships to not always be seen as romantic. That makes sense to me, but I still think it's weird to be hating on shipping at all. Unless it's incredibly invasive. (Personally I think it's weird to say shipping Amangela is fine and Damangela isn't, because Amanda is married and not into women, I could make the argument that that's also weird and invasive to be shipping them going by some of the logic I've seen)(just some food for thought)

Regardless of shipping, Angela and Damien have really good chemistry, so it's not a big wonder people would like them together!

They way they make fun of each other in particular is something that I find different to every other duo at Smosh. They just feel like they're on equal ground? like Angela really looks up to Shayne as like a bigger funnier brother, and Chanse like a knucklehead little brother.

Every other relationship Angela has at Smosh feels like she's trying to garner favor, whereas with Damien she is already in his favor, (by virtue of him being extremely kind and her being awesome) so they get into this cycle of picking on each other over things that don't really matter to them. Like Damien being a nerd, she doesn't actually dislike him for it she just likes to rile him up about it, and because he gets riled up he makes fun of her and calls her names back!

They both seem to be people that love to debate and argue! (I love debating so no wonder I love their dynamic <3 those that get it get it, those that don't don't)

So to wrap up, it's totally fine not to like a pairing! but it is weird to put other people down for something you are also doing. There are a PLETHORA of reasons why someone would ship something and unless they are being extremely invasive about it they aren't doing anything wrong.

In honor of my favorite band (deadman) releasing a new single.

So I fell in love with this band called deadman in 2006, the same year they broke up. I spent years and years day dreaming of seeing them live. Before and after I moved to Tokyo I would always keep my ears open for the singer (Mako’s) voice, maybe he was in a new band or busking. No such luck.

I did begin a casual fuck buddy relationship with a professional busker, let’s call him Naoki, because that’s his name. He played accordion and piano so his fingers were God tier nimble. He didn’t drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes and had an impressive skincare routine just in case he made it big. He would do work with jrockers and other artists I knew and it was like fucking my own little celebrity in my too-far-away Tokyo boonies apartment. He was so strong and his skin like delicately cared for porcelain. He would randomly just pick me up and maneuver me during sex and it made me feel like a ✨ little lady ✨.

Well, in the meantime, deadman got back together! But no tours really because of covid. I keep that information in mind and continue living.

One day on Spotify this year I see they have a national tour coming up and are coming to MY CITY.

Just the vocalist, Mako, and the composer (Aie) have reunited but I don’t care, I can finally hear Mako sing live. I get tickets the hour they go on sale, even though there’s no threat of selling out.

Eighteen years of waiting. I literally scream.

While riding that high, I go on insta and see Naoki posted. I wonder what that cutie is up to today. Just a causal meet up with an old friend.

Those light brown eyes made your heart flutter, but always made you spill the truth to him. Those disappointed looks from him always hurt more than seeing him slightly annoyed. With a slow exhale, you knocked on his classroom door a hour before it was time for him to leave. "Yes, come in." You peak in with a sheepish grin, "Hey, Professor Tenoch. I.. wanted to speak to you." He flashed a small smile and beckoned you to come in, "Well we still have some time and I wanted to ask you if everything was okay? You looked very tired in class today."

You nodded at first, taking a seat across from his desk, "Everything is fine just wasn't feeling too well today. I-I wanted to ask you if I could talk about the assignment that was due today." "Mhm, what about it?" Your stomach fluttered and your chest burned from being nervous, willing yourself to lie on the spot. You didn't look him recognizing that tone, so you kept your gaze elsewhere. His hands or his hair while you spoke. "I-welll uh. See, I lost my hard drive stick yesterday with all my assignments and I tried looking to see if I had any other backups for it in my email drive on my computer. And it turns out that my cat somehow stole my harddrive stick." "So its very damaged. I was wondering if I could have a few days at least for an extension?" You blurted out. When you finally did look up at him, it was hard to keep a straight face at the way Tenoch held his chin. His slight raised brows and those brown eyes that just saw threw you. Your mouth was going dry and your heart was thumping wildly in your chest. You were a bad liar. A terrible liar. The long silence made things worst and for a second you were about to apologize and just blurt out the truth. But when Tenoch sighed and tapped his pen lightly on the desk, "Fine. Three days. Three. You can turn in your work then. " Your eyes lit up at him buying your terrible excuse and you shot up to your feet. "Thank you! I swear I have it done in three days maybe even two! You are the best!" you beamed. Only running around the desk to hug him lightly, "Alright, alright now go. " he chuckled. first off, please don't be offended by me blocking out the link. i'm only doing that bc i don't really want to draw too many ppl's eyes to this bc i genuinely do not believe it whatsoever. the less ppl talking about this, the better.

that being said, i can understand why you might think this is showing him cheating or that that isn't her. but i need you to understand logistically: there would have to be multiple unlikely things in place for this to be real.

first off, katelyn and malia were in vegas with the boys when they had off this past weekend after filming during the week.

for colby to have cheated, he would have had to make malia stay at his house while he, sam, and katelyn went out to a restaurant to eat. and then, still stay at his house while they all went to the club.

then colby would have had to find a girl to cheat on malia with, and then FILM HIMSELF at said club where he could have easily been caught at. then on top of that, he would have had to have cheated in front of sam, his best friend, and katelyn, her best friend - and both of them would have had to be a-okay with him doing it so brazenly.

then someone would have had to film the crowd at the club, caught him in the act, and then post it without knowing. and THEN ON TOP OF THAT, colby that night literally posted a pic of malia and him from coachella, which she reposted almost immediately after he did (almost like she was right next to him when he did it).

now……………….. does that sound like an actual, legitimate possibility to you? bc it sure doesn't sound like one to me.

and then just for added measure, malia was blonde not that long ago, and seemingly gets highlights and touches up her hair. well, when you go from blonde to brunette, you don't dye it brown and call it a day, unless you're box dyeing it yourself. if you get it professionally done, they usually put in red undertones, or dye your head copper red, so that when the brunette fades it's not a shitty grey/green color that it can sometimes look bc of the blonde. so she probably has red undertones which can make her hair appear more red.

and as someone who has naturally brunette hair that is similar to malia's color, my hair can also look reddish sometimes. it naturally has red in it, along with blonde. red and brown are close on the color wheel enough to sometimes blur into one another.

Oh god, Armand absolutely has a TikTok and like.. I'm guessing a lot of his videos are just weird shit like an old phone that's been stripped down to its bare inner workings ringing for 30 seconds straight or commentary about some obscure band from the 80s no one remembers. I mean I don't use TikTok (I am a millennial but I also draw the line there!) but I can imagine it's just constantly different stuff, random and super weird, but he's built a small following anyhow because people are just fascinated by him (and whenever he does show his face, he's not bad looking).

I agree Instagram is more Daniel's speed. It's visual but there can be audio/video. He definitely follows accounts that post about miniatures and UFO sightings and one guy in Jersey who's trying to track the Jersey Devil. Sometimes he even goes up there and leaves an animal carcass for the guy to find to fuel his search. (He once left a human arm and Marius had a fit about it when he heard. Armand nodded gravely as Marius ranted but later laughed like hell when he and Daniel were alone and they watched the Jersey Devil hunter's Insta Story together.)

And yes, goodness, Daniel can get away with absolute murder at Court (figuratively speaking). He's Armand's fledgling and companion, he's close with Prime Minister Marius, and he's friends with Lestat. He can walk around in ratty jeans and a faded t-shirt and play Angry Birds on his phone during council meetings and he'll be fine. He might get told off but the younger ones who fear are Armand are probably like what the fuck? How is this the guy Armand is always disappearing with? 1) what would their social media page/activity be like: i've discussed this w/ a friend but i think denmark is the most technologically capable after sweden! i think on twitter he's a little more professional (but he loves rting feel-good stuff) BUT he shines on insta. it's full of artsy pictures of the danish countryside and embarrassing videos of him and his friends on his stories :,)

2) what animal they remind me of: i don't care that it's predictable that man is a puppy!!!! manga denmark is a golden retriever but anime denmark is a yippy chihuahua with that fucking voice

3) my thoughts on their design/aesthetic alone: LOVE!! i think his canon outfit is really nice compared to.... whatever the other four are doing!! his hair is dumb but it's dumb /affectionate /i love him

4) physical headcanons: i got a few! he's an early bird!! and a light sleeper. physique-wise he's the second tallest nordic and he has BIG ass arms (an axe was his main weapon so!! makes sense to me!) he has a huge sweet tooth + he loves pastries!! but his favourite is whatever norway bakes because he's a softie :) as for actual food.... this man survives on sandwiches hot dogs and beer. get well soon x

5) social headcanons: denmark is the nordic with the most friends outside of the group!! finland comes close, because everyone loves finland and he has estonia & hungary, but i think denmark's outside friendships are more involved! a strip that really stuck with me is one during the denmark-norway period, where he goes to the netherlands and asks him to give him the buddy price on weaponry and ned agrees despite how he usually is :,) within the group, i see him as having an older-brother-but-kinda-dad relationship with iceland. sweden and him are close now and they're just the brothers who had a fallout but now r coping by insulting themselves jokingly (only when they're a few drinks in sometimes it's not a joke). he and fin only became close in later centuries but their personalities are super compatible so they're great friends!! and he and norway... oughghhg you're talking to dennor lover #1 here HAH to me they've been basically on-and-off in love for 1100 years or so :,) i'll go more into it in a future post so i'll stop here but!! yeah!!

6) psychological headcanons: i feel like i covered most of this in my denmark analysis!! but hm yeah for me his greateast fear is for sure isolating his family again. and despite how carefree he acts, i think he weighs his decisions very carefully because of what happened in the past when he didn't. i think he's actually really good with dealing with anger in modern day (he's had a lot of practice) but he regrets how he used to be before. speaking of before!! i love to think abt him from the viking era to approximately the late 1500s just... cocky bloodthirsty denmark is really fun to explore and i think people should play it up more instead of making him p much as sweet as in modern times! i dont think he wouldve been anything like that to anyone but his family and own people (also animals btw this guy loves animals 100%)

7) ship(s) with them that i like or at least consider: in terms of like... my version of canon i'm a dennor soloshipper i think :,) BUT i find denmark/norway/finland/sweden fun to think about!! also denmark/estonia is a rarepair i think is veryvery cute. and some classic nedden never hurt anyone!

venting on tumblr can be pretty comforting and cathartic tbh. like, I can yell or scream or cry or whatever (if I need to) into the void of tumblr posts, and it'll be anonymous. 95% of the time I'll get 0 notes on my vent posts anyway

I don't have to bother anyone I care about regarding that sort of stuff unless I really want to send vent stuff to someone/somewhere that ppl I know will see it. plus, I can do it whenever without having to worry about social stuff or if I wake someone up by venting at ungodly hours.

I can get my feelings out (from gushing to vents) without having to bother people I know and care about unless I specifically want them to see that stuff, unfiltered content. what's going on in my brain

by the way people actually care. I'm so tired of the "nobody gives a shit about you" motivational phrase because it's simply bs. If that's right then why people who I see on the street start talking about me when they see me? Why they comment my looks when I walk past them? The whole mindset of "Look I'm here recording myself and people don't even stare at me because they are in their own mind" is true, but only partially true. Whether people stare or not depends on a lot of factors: the place, the country you're filming in, your looks, etc.. In some places for instance they would aggressively stare at you, in others they're just too busy.

People judge you. People who you don't even know look at you, have thoughts about you, they criticise you or complement you, sometimes they forget about you after you have walked away, other times they remember you forever. They use words recklessly, as if they didn't know that those are flying knifes. Those nicknames on your insta story list are watching you and judjing you as we speak. How do I know? Because I do the same. And you know what? Let them. Let them cover you in their shit. Let them talk about you, or worse gossip about you. Let them feel superior than you. Let them hate you.

Once you let them you will actually stop caring. Who cares if everyone is judging me anyway? No matter what I do, those eyes will still be on me. I can't control it nor prevent it. I will always be hated by someone. There's always gonna be someone who'll comment on my looks and on my weird attitude. There's always gonna be someone who will try to obstacle my freedom by saying mean stuff about me, trying to stop me from expressing myself and trying to make me become like them. Trying to let me stop being cringe and wanting me to close myself to the world and waste my time judging others who have the guts to be cringe.

Y'know, I used to have an insta blog that was extremely awkward and cringe. Yeah I remember people saying mean things about me, even the friends of my friends would ask them how could they be friends with such a weirdo. Now I deleted that blog, made a private account and occasionally post stuff that is generally considered "normal". I became just like them and I lost my freedom. And all of this because I started to care. I lost my uniqueness.

Blog 1: What is social media?

Hi, Everyone! 

My name is Rhiannon and I would like to welcome you all to my new Tumblr page! For the past few days, I have been thinking about social media, and how I feel about it as a marketing tool and a social institution. I have a few insights I’d like to share with you all, so let’s dive right in! 

To start, let's talk about my definition of social media. I define it as a forum where people can connect and exchange their  ideas virtually. A singular post, tweet, or story, can span far and wide. With Instagram, for example, a person can find, share, and connect with people anywhere. Messages can be exchanged, posts can be shared both publicly or privately, and the news can circulate from one region of the world to the next. 

Like most people, I use social media quite frequently. While I prefer to keep my daily life private from online, I enjoy sharing things with close friends and family. Keeping my online activity minimal and my “content” inaccessible to the general public helps me enjoy my life much more. I worry less about follower counts and turning my life into content for other people to enjoy. When I use social media like this, what  I share feels authentic to myself. 

There are both advantages and disadvantages of using social media; people decide how to use their socials based on these. While it is great for building and maintaining connections with others, the pressures of social media can be different to navigate.  In a time where content creation and influencing dominate the mainstream media,  it's easy to equate your personal value to the number of likes, shares, and views you generate online. I struggle with this from time to time. To me, it feels that in order to gain the slightest bit of recognition on any digital platform you must put your personal life on public display at all times. If I'm going out with friends for a night and I decide to take pictures, sometimes I say to myself “ wait! I need to take something that’ll look good for insta” instead of seeing the pictures for their primary purpose; to have as memories. On one end, social media has helped form connections while simultaneously disconnecting me from my authentic self.

As a student studying communications and social media, I hope to gain a deeper understanding of its fundamentals from this course. Things like strategic messaging, writing, and learning the origins of online communication services are what I hope to fully understand by the end of this class. As an artist, social media has played a significant role in building a net network and sharing my creations to larger audiences. I am still in the process of building my following and generating content that will attract and engage users. I wish to learn different ways I can build my foundation and maintain a strong digital presence.   These skills and lessons will be very helpful in the future.

You don’t spend an immense amount of time on social media but when you do you you’re always looking for that insanely attractive mutual that likes all your pics back. You’ve both had a streak of liking each other’s photos back to back for some months now. Before this had all started, you had saw that one of your friends Tengen had posted a pic with him and he was tagged in it. You were curious, so you tapped on his profile to find that he multiple other mutuals and tons of other really nice photos that included himself and nice nature shots. One picture in particular stood out and it was of him holding the cutest puppy with him brightly smiling into the camera and that’s what sold you.

You hit like and follow immediately after that and not a few minutes later did he return it. So you decided to like another photo and so did he and ever since then you both would like each other’s photos and sometimes even comment on them. It'd usually be silly and flirty tid bits like, “I can’t tell which one’s the view” or “Hey I thought I told you to return my shirt”, which would make all your mutual friends question whether or not you guys were a thing.

“Hey, are you and Sanemi going out or something?” Tengen asked as he sipped on his protein shake. You just laughed and shook your head.

“No, it’s just our thing. We haven’t even met each other in person before.”

“No way, really?” 

“Mhmm.” You hummed as you sipped on your smoothie. Tengen looked like he was registering what you were saying for a moment before he perked up.

“Yo! Long time no see!” Tengen shot up out of his seat to dab up a man you haven’t see before. You watched as they exchanged greetings and then both of them turn to you.

“I’m sure you two know each other.” Tengen said nudging him. 

“Yeah, it’s really nice finally meeting you in person.”

You tilted your head at him wondering where you have seen this man, but your brain was not recognizing him. It was like you did but you didn’t? Your brain was trying to fire signals, but it was failing. 

“Who are you again?”

Both their mouths dropped as they gawked at you. Tengen was the first to speak up. “Are you being serious?”

“I mean, you’re cute.” You tried to save yourself, but you knew by the looks on their faces you were in deep shit. 

Tengen peered at the incredulous expression on his friend’s face, and burst into a fit of laugher. “Oh, my God, [name]! You’re actually serious! That’s actually fucking rich!”

His friend’s face started to contort into embarrassment and irritation all at once. “Do you seriously not recognize me?”

You stared at him for a little bit longer waiting for your brain to start putting the pieces together, and ever so slowly did it start to come together. 

“Oh my God! Samemi!”

“It’s Sanemi.” He closed his eyes and clenched his teeth as Tengen bursted out into another fit of laughter. Oh, now this was just cruel.

“Oh, [name]. You are totally wounding Sanemi’s heart right now you have no idea!”

“Shut the fuck up, idiot.” Sanemi muttered, but Tengen was ignoring him as he sat back down on his seat practically rolling around. You had never felt so bad.

“I am so sorry.” You began and reached out to him to comfort him and oddly he let you.

“You’re lucky, you’re cute.”

You giggled and smiled at him. You were ashamed at the fact that you didn’t initially identify him, but the more you checked him out the cuter and more recognizable he was becoming. His soft silver locks were tousled and the scars that lined his face and arms and peaked out of his chest were stories that were waiting to be told. His body was sculpted and carefully curated by years and years of achieving the perfect workout to keep him looking the way he did.

“You’re drooling, [name].” Tengen teased from the sidelines. 

“Oh, shut up.” You shot him a dirty look before giving Sanemi your full intention. “Well, now, it is nice to meet you, too.”

“Hm, yeah, now you owe me a smoothie.” Sanemi smiled as he slid into the seat next to Tengen. You rub the back of your neck in embarrassment and nodded your head.

“I think that would be best.”

It all started sometime in May when I was on an app like bumble bff to make friends for your dog. We found a puppy that was a few months younger than Teddy and we met up at the park and it turned out that they loved each other, much to my joy. We met up with the pup and his mom (whom we’ll call Jessica) once a week for a play date. Over this period of time, we got to know her relatively well, as she loved to talk about herself and all of the drama in her life. I followed her on instagram and was met with a bizarre collection of clearly edited and photoshopped pictures of herself, as well as some of her and her ex boyfriend (more on him later.) It baffled me that she would edit photos to this extent when everyone else could see that she didn’t look like that in real life, but I chalked it up to having serious body image issues and never mentioned it.

We continue our play dates until about two or three weeks ago, when a mutual acquaintance (let’s say Tiana) reached out to me over instagram. Tiana asks if we’re still in contact with Jessica bc she’s learned some “disturbing information” about her and wants to let us know what she’s learned to help us assess our relationship with her. Tiana tells me that she’s posted pictures from Pinterest claiming they’re hers, and she’s suspicious about Jessica’s ex boyfriend. I was suspicious as well. Every picture of them looked strange, like they weren’t even in the same room together. I don’t know Tiana super well but choose to trust that she was coming from a good place, and decide to do some sleuthing.

I was able to find one of Jessica’s pictures that was taken from Pinterest, but it wasn’t quite enough proof for me. I go back to the ex boyfriend. He passed away last year. She is still very publicly grieving him and my husband and I have comforted her about his loss. All I know is that he was from an Eastern European country, he passed away, and he was a skydiver - so I type it in to Google. I find an article about him right away. It says he passed away in a skydiving accident in July of last year. I go to Jessica’s instagram and find that she never posted about him before November of last year - not a picture, a video, nothing. Why would she wait so long to post something about him? Nothing is making sense.

One of the things Tiana mentioned is that she believed Jessica’s own skydiving pictures and videos were stolen as well. I went to the ex boyfriend’s defunct instagram and see nothing regarding his relationship with Jessica. I go to some posts where he tagged other women, wondering if Jessica’s skydiving pics were actually taken from one of them. Some looked close, but I could never confirm that the outfits or locations that matched Jessica’s insta. Then I had the idea to go to the boyfriend’s instagram again, but this time I would go to the photos he had been tagged in. There were a few of people posting messages of loss, how they hoped he would fly high in heaven.

Then I found Maria. At first I thought Maria was also a friend of his, but she had an instagram story saved full of videos and pictures of ex boyfriend. As I look through them, I see pictures of them eating breakfast in bed, getting couples massages, pda-ing in an elevator. Maria and ex boyfriend were actually dating. There was no doubt - Maria was his ACTUAL girlfriend. I saw pictures that I had seen on Jessica’s instagram, and realized that she had taken them from Maria’s insta and photoshopped her own face on to it, to make it appear as though THEY had been dating. It explained why the photos looked so bizarre to me! Wtf! There were so many pictures taken from Maria’s insta. As I went back to Jessica’s instagram to look at the same pictures, I saw the comments and captions, talking about how sad she was that they would never skydive again, that he would never be waiting for her at the end of the aisle (!!!!!!!!??????!!!!!!) All captions as though she was really experiencing this loss, that it was her boyfriend who had passed.

I go back to Maria’s insta and scroll until I see more pictures that I had already seen on Jessica’s page - pictures that had nothing to do with ex boyfriend; showing off her bikini on a boat, tons of flowers on her birthday, flying in a private jet (where she also photoshopped her dog/Teddy’s friend.) Then I see the skydiving pictures and videos. All of them, all of it, had been taken from Maria’s instagram. It appeared everything that Jessica ever told me was a lie.

I message Tiana back and ask, “do you know about Maria? This might go deeper than we thought.” She’d never heard of Maria. I send her a link of her profile. She freaks out. We can’t figure out what kind of person would do this - is in intentional, or is Jessica mentally ill? She shows me a collection of pictures she saved to compare to original to the photoshopped, and the discovery of Maria’s existence is a whole new ball game. Once Tiana realizes that Jessica lied about so much, she starts checking out other things on Jessica’s instagram. Using reverse image search, she discovers that Jessica’s family pictures are actually a picture of John D. Rockefeller, a boat captain connected to the Titanic, and two Victorian women whose pictures were on Pinterest and of unknown origin. Everything, even things that didn’t matter, were a lie. We compared stories from experiences that we individually had with Jessica - events, timelines, motivation - also lies or altered in some way.

I told Tiana that I wanted Jessica to stop doing what she was doing and I wanted Maria to know, so she could decide what to do about it. I didn’t feel a huge amount of betrayal, but absolute bewilderment and incredulity. I didn’t want to blow up Jessica’s life. I don’t know how, but Jessica started immediately shutting down her instagram and deleting pictures. Tiana collected the evidence and sent it off to Maria, who did not respond with the sort of gravity or seriousness that we expected. Maybe this sort of thing happens to her all the time, who knows.

Jessica hasn’t reached out to me since these events. Her instagram is up and running again, and I can’t help but feel that those new pictures aren’t hers either. Regardless - if there are mental health issues, I don’t really want to be friends with someone who not only stole pictures and videos and claimed they were hers, but claimed this girl’s story of grief and loss. That was gross to me, as much as I still feel pity for Jessica.

At the end of it all, I can’t figure out why. She had a sizable following on instagram, (under 12k) but she had no brand deals. She had no sponsorships, no trips that were given, no gifts. She always talked about how she was broke, so I know she couldn’t have been gaining anything from this financially. From what I can gather, she had few, if any friends. Besides attention, these are the only reasons why I can think of why she would tell such lies, and why she would go to such efforts to manipulate the pictures, and present this false life. It will be the greatest mystery of my life. And now I have to find a new friend for my dog.

Mutuals, if I had an insane story that just happened to me where I learned about the deception and lies of the mom of the friend we made for our dog, would you want to hear it?

AOT characters x their partner on social media is something I love thinking about omg. Eren is the number 1 menace, I swear, he likes keeping an aesthetic and he wants your face on his profile, and he wants to be in yours, and he will brainstorm for cool captions for you both 😭 Jean acts all shy, but that tall mf also lowkey feels the same way as Eren 😭. Mikasa is very relaxed and cute about it, she’s so effortless when it comes posting you on her feed, same with Sasha probably. Connie would post your funny faces 100% while Armin….blonde coconut I feel would be shy at first but is a fan of couple-y posts. Same with Erwin, and Erwin would add the cheesiest suburban dad captions like “my better half” or shit like “forever yours” 😭🥴😭 Hange is just all over, like they’ll be super unpredictable, from wildly funny to very touching stuff. Pick is just sweetness!! All around sweetness that can make you melt. Porco would be…actually I’m not sure, he seems like he’s in line with Eren and Jean 😭 Meanwhile, Levi would not care at all about social media announcements and “instagram official” and people outside his close circles find out about his partner on their tenth-year anniversary because they bumped into you both while you were out on a date 😭😭

Eren and Connie are fiends and almost shameless in how much they want to be on your socials. If you do the thing where you record your food when you’re out to eat with Eren, he’ll interject into your video—“And me! She’s with me!! Show me!!” After some time—or if you tease him by purposefully leaving him out of the frame—he’ll just snatch your phone when you’re recording or taking pictures and makes sure to get himself with the front camera 😭😭 oh and you will be on his, it comes with the price of dating him, he loves posting videos that gradually zoom in on your face before you notice he’s recording.

Connie just photobombs everything. Even if just his eyebrows make in the frame, you better post it. He’s watching you. He loves taking funny selfies and posting them with absolutely no context, and videos too!! He reminds me of that TikTok of the guy who pans the camera to his gf laying in the grass is like, “We had a beach date, and, yeah I love her,” and pans the camera to his face, “I’m faster than her tho. We raced. But yeah, love her.”

Jean pretends like he doesn’t care if you don’t post him, but he cares 😭😭 he’s always willing to take a photo for you, but he wants to take them with you too!! He’ll not so subtly be like, “Hey, did you post those pics from the other day?” as a gentle “reminder,” and he’s honestly so cute you gotta give into him. He likes posting pics with you too, and claims he’s gotta keep it updated so he’s got something to show his mom—“She’ll think I’m making you up if I don’t have proof, babe.”

Armin gets nervous about posting you at first—the whole being publicly affectionate thing, plus the internet is forever, you know. But once he sees that he doesn’t necessarily have to post you guys holding hands or kissing all the time, he relaxes. Just a picture together, or a picture of you from one of your dates every once in a while is cool with him. He takes good candids and they’re his favorite to edit and make all pretty. He gets surprised whenever you post him, and he’s honestly not checking for it/on social media all that often, so he finds out through a friend like Sasha who’s bubbling, “Armin you guys are gonna make me jealous!! Your beach dates look so cute!!” And Armin’s a little confused, until she adds, “I saw the pictures on Insta!!” And now he’s slightly pink in the face.

Porco is… more likely than not recording you innocently vibing or minding your own business before he comes to bother you bye. He thinks your surprised face is so fucking funny and needs several video evidences of it. He gets grumpy when you get an off-guard of him, but just show it to him after and suddenly he’s like, “I look pretty good there, actually,” like yeah, dumbass, that was the point 🙄🙄 he posts his shit on Twitter tho, and is always acting like he doesn’t know you—“Girlfriend for sale, willing to trade for Breath of the Wild. At least $30 cash otherwise,” and thinks it’s funny when you threaten to block him. Or he’s subtweeting you when you CLEARLY follow him: “Anybody else know someone who falls asleep 30 mins into a drive?? No?? Just me??”

Erwin and his captions anon please I’m hollering. You know he uses the filters embedded into Instagram, too, and it makes some pics come out grainy/more dull. He comes questioning Hange with genuine curiosity, “How come your photos look so… bright? How do I do that?” Sir, open up VSCO and free yourself from the shackles of Sepia.

Levi could not care less about what and how much you post of him on social media, and his own is so scarcely updated; he really just has it so he’s not a complete ghost to the world, and to occasionally cure a fit of boredom. The pictures he posts are always nice tho, simple, cleanly edited and shot, and sometimes he’s not even in them. He doesn’t mind if you post him or not, but every once in a while he’ll stop by with a simple heart emoji in the comments. (To which Hange absolutely loses their shit every time and loves to joke about, “omgggggg are you and @leviackerman official???? 🤪🤪🤪)

Hange is the undisputed champion of photodumps and you cannot prove me wrong. Above all, they love posting a series of chaotic photos that tell a story—three slides dedicated to photos that caught you falling down; several photos back to back of you stuffing your face with food; frames of the both of you posing for a photo with the front timer but of course something made them topple over you. Their captions don’t help either, almost always unrelated from the disaster that just unfolded. Could have posted a photo dump of you two skipping (and falling) at the park and the caption is like “fun fact: a cockroach can survive up to five weeks with its head cut off!!” (The disconnect between the pics and captions always confuses Erwin. @e.smith: Very cool! But, what do roaches have to do with you guys looking like you broke your ankles? PS—is everybody okay?)

Mikasa is relaxed about posting you, and she lowkey really likes to be posted on your socials. She doesn’t say much about it, but she likes going back through your profile and looking and what you posted, and the comments from your guys’ friends being supportive. The pictures don’t necessarily spell out that you guys are Together, but that’s okay with her; she doesn’t need four pics of you guys kissing on her timeline to make her happy. She has lots of pictures she doesn’t post tho and you’d be shocked to find them, you gotta hype her up a bit to post them, “Mika you look hot here!!! The people need to see!!! Feed them!!!”

It comes naturally to Sasha, too. She likes documenting your dates with pictures and videos and has a blast editing them afterwards, too. Just AirDrop her the pictures you took and she’ll fix them up for both of you to post later. She’s a fan of silly matching captions and is always in your comments with a million emojis.

Pieck absolutely the sweetest girl. Her whole feed manages to naturally come out in soft filters and pastel colors. She always tells you she doesn’t have to edit a thing when you’re in the picture. Definitely posts photo dumps that include pics of food, sunrises, her cats, and a few off-guards of you thrown in there. Abuses the bugs and sparkly emojis in the captions.

Annie literally posts one pic a few months (by a few months, I mean like 11 months) into your relationship with the simple and upfront caption: “This is my girlfriend” and everyone is in the comments immediately bye. Berty is acting super surprised even tho he basically set you guys up, somehow Reiner genuinely didn’t know, and Sasha is clowning him for not catching on, and then he’s like “wait since when????? i thought they were just really good friends????” Mikasa comments a singular scissor emoji and it sends everyone into orbit, even Annie likes the comment.

Did you happen to see ALs short lived IG story yesterday? She’d posted a screenshot of a message between her and MS. Nothing major just him saying he was finished filming and he was heading home and it was pizza night, followed by loads of kissy faces. She commented over the post something like, “when it’s your favourite night of the week” or words to that effect. Puzzled as to why it was quickly deleted and how nobody else seems to have seen it/mentioned it. Seems like she was trying to copy GT and DT, with their recent wordle texts, but no one seemed to mention it, even over on the bird app. Maybe didn’t get the attention she thought it would. I know DTs been trending a lot lately, and sometimes GT can cause him to blow up on the bird app depending on what she posts photo wise etc. Maybe ALs trying to get some of the same attention and it fell flat?

Hi, Anon! I know you sent this like two weeks ago, so apologies for me taking a while to answer it--I wanted to answer the Anon about Georgia’s #MarriedSexting screenshots first, so that this one would have some context.

Backdating from when you sent me this message, the day AL posted the story you mentioned would be January 27th, just four days after Georgia posted the “what’s for breakfast?” text. (Unfortunately, I did not get to see the Insta story myself, so if you or anyone else has a screenshot, please do feel free to DM me, or send it in with an ask.) 

That being said, my first thought on reading your message was that it seems like AL was copying Georgia yet again, which is nothing new under the sun. I think there are also a few possibilities for what could’ve happened and why the Insta story was deleted so quickly. One is that Insta lets you choose who you want to share stories with, so perhaps AL meant for it to be shared with Close Friends and shared it publicly by mistake. Or maybe it was a case of Michael probably being a lot less agreeable than David about having his texts out there, and consequently either he or PR asked her to take it down. Another thought I had was that AL has hardly posted anything since Christmas, so it could be that she decided (or PR told her) to wait to post until Michael’s birthday the following week.

The thing is, some of what she did post on Michael’s birthday didn’t really get much attention, either, and was just downright...underwhelming, in my opinion:

Once again...I am confused. The first picture is the same as every picture of AL and Michael, in that both she and he have the same tight-lipped smile, with his noticeably not reaching his eyes. And there could not be anything more generic about the “Happy Birthday, my darling!” caption, which just feels so...planned. Like a post you’d make and a caption you’d write days in advance and queue, rather than something spontaneous and heartfelt. The generic feeling of the caption also stands in stark contrast to the specificity of Georgia calling Michael David’s “other wife” in her birthday post.

And the second picture...Lord help me, because all I can say is that the first thing that came to mind when I saw the word “petal” was a really hot MS/DT fic where David is topping and calls Michael that as he is bringing him over the edge. I seriously doubt that is what AL was referencing, of course, but I’m fairly sure she was also not referencing an Aziraphale/Crowley fic of mine that is also called “Petal.” I mean...what are the odds, really. Haha.

It’s also interesting that, from what I’ve read and had said to me since this was posted, while “petal” can be considered a term of endearment in Britain, it runs the risk of coming across as condescending, depending on how it’s said and who’s saying it, especially if that person is a non-native speaker. And that was indeed how I perceived it in this post. But what really didn’t help was that AL chose such a bizarre picture to go along with it. It’s (again) a picture of Michael taken from far away--which seems to be her specialty--but it’s not at all giving the “romantic glance from across the blossoms” vibes that I’m guessing were intended. Because when you look at his expression up close, Michael actually looks, well...visibly annoyed.

I just...why? Why would you choose these two pictures? Of all the pictures she has of/with him, she chooses one from months ago (presumably the night of the NTAs, which is just...we know what happened there, and that she is still not pulling focus away from Michael and David)...and then one where Michael looks like someone just slayed the Welsh dragon right in front of him. If as you mentioned, Anon, the aim was to get attention, it really does seem like it fell flat. Georgia’s “other wife” post was the highlight of Michael’s birthday and even got the attention of the media. AL’s post/Insta story...didn’t.

Even more interesting is that Georgia’s post made it painfully obvious that whatever is between Michael, David, and her is between the three of them, and AL is not a part of that. This goes back to what I said above, about the generic nature of AL’s caption calling Michael “darling,” versus the intimate nature of Georgia’s, where “other wife” is a specific and personal nickname. Neither of these posts said very much, number of words-wise...but at the same time, both posts said a lot. I’m just not sure that it was exactly what some people were intending.

Ah, well. So much weirdness abounds these days, and it’s only getting weirder. It will certainly be interesting to see what (if anything) Georgia and Michael post on David’s birthday in April, and what else happens from here on out...
