Okay okay okay, I need everyone to listen to me about this.
I know I kinda talked about this before in a reblog to someone else's post, but the idea has been rotating in my brain ever since and I feel like it needs to be further explored. A lot of people have been talking about the differences between TMA and TMP, and memeing about how people can actually quit the OIAR (which btw, I'll believe when I actually see it, by which I mean if we're able to get through the entire series without Teddy either coming back or turning up dead or otherwise facing "You can quit but you can never leave" levels of repercussions) but like nobody, from what I've seen, has been talking about what imo is the pretty glaringly obvious element at play here. So let's talk about the spider in the room, shall we? What do we know about the Magnus Institute in TMA?
People came there to give statements regarding their spooky experiences, including people who had doubts about doing so (because they weren't sure if the Institute was reputable, because they weren't sure if they believed what they had experienced, because they served a different entity so what reason would they have to do something for The Eye, etc).
The head archivist would ultimately become the Archivist, an Avatar of the Eye.
The Archivist's abilities included enabling statement givers to give their statements without going off track or leaving out details (we even see what happens when it's not the Archivist taking the statement), and being able to compel people to tell them things against their will, from statements to their darkest secrets.
You couldn't quit, at least not without gouging your eyes out.
The Magnus Institute was a part of the Eye.
Or was it? Because the other thing we know about the Magnus Institute is that the Web was using it as part of its plan to break free from the TMA world and gain access to the other worlds out there. How much of the compulsion aspects of the Institute-- people being drawn to the Institute to give statements, the Archivist's ability to draw statements and secrets out of people, people's inability to quit the Institute--was actually because of the Web? Where does the Eye's "compulsion to seek out knowledge even if it could be bad/ harmful" end and the Web's "not being in control of your own actions" begin? Was the Archivist--at least in the form Gertrude and John took--really purely an Avatar of the Eye? Or were they an Avatar of a mix between The Eye and the Web, much like how Martin, if he were to ever become a full fledged Avatar, likely would have been a mix of the Eye and the Lonely, just like his domain in S5 was? After all, Jonah was an Eye Avatar, was he not? And as far as we saw, he never needed to compel information out of people. He just Knew it (and used it to torment people).
One of the themes I've been playing around with in my TMA fanfictions since I first finished the podcast for the first time last winter is how the course of history would be different in the alternate worlds, where the Web wasn't interfering--at least not on the same scale, or for the same reasons--since it had already gotten what it wanted at the end of TMA. And I think that's exactly what we're seeing a version of in Protocol. I think the OIAR is what it looks like when it's entirely the Eye at play, with 0 interference from the Web. The Eye is all about having your secrets exposed, being watched, being followed. The tape recorders--something that would need to be turned off and on (controlled) in order to record something--were a tool of the Web. Now we're "witnessing" the events of the podcast through the audio from security cameras and other things that are constantly running; constantly seeing and listening without needing to be turned on and off. The statements aren't being given by people who somehow found their way to the institute and were on some level or another compelled to tell their tales. They're journal entries detailing a person's private thoughts. They're letters meant only for the eyes of the recipient, sharing secrets not meant for anyone else. They're recorded therapy sessions.
And the statements that are related to the Eye? The ones read in John's voice? They're forum and blog posts, which not only makes them the only ones whose sources didn't have the same expectation of privacy as the others, also ties them to the Web, since computers and websites were previously established as being associated with it.

More parrot chunkban au rambling:
Parrot didn't think it being chunkbanned would feel so cold and unfeeling
And that isn't even to say how everything looked around him
So disorienting so nauseating
A pure void where no light nor darkness touched it somehow
When he tried to see his hands, It was almost impossible to make them out but at the same time they were so clear, clear as day really
Clear as the people he saw in the distance, one of them being jumper, a person he knew
When they met up, jumper asked him if zam and wemmbu chunkbanned him too, he didn't understand what she meant and told her that spoke was the one who chunkbanned him
Spoke?, she asked, she explained to parrot that zam and wemmbu chunkbanned her and everyone else here for helping spoke
Oh, makes sense, he thought, both of them really wanted spoke dead, so he's not too surprised that spoke got people to help him he guesses, when he tried to ask her about more things, jumper looked behind him with a shocked look on her face and when he looked back, he saw the one of the last people he expected to see here
Spoke
How are you here spoke? Parrot asked him in bewilderment, not really processing the fact that spoke was here, literally less than an hour ago he chunkbanned him
Spoke looked at him with an elated and gleeful look on his face parrot didn't like that look, not at all and explained to him that he let himself get chunkbanned so he wouldn't get killed by the zam empire and now that he was here would parrot like to know what the secret was?
What?
After getting through all that
After getting chunkbanned now he decides to tell him?
He had a worried feeling In his chest
Sure, he hesitantly said, side eyeing spoke with a suspicious look
Ok parrot get ready! Spoke exclaimed bouncing on his heels
There was no secret!
...
What?
What do you mean there was no secret? Then what was the point of doing all of that? Why use so many resources just to tell him there was no secret?
He asked all of these questions to spoke
Who just laughed
And laughed
And laughed at him
To the point he could swear he heard a constant echo of spoke's grating laughter
Spoke explained to him his whole entire plan
How he made parrot find someone to help him
How he made puzzles just so that parrot and wifies can get closer to each other
How his end plan was to rip the both of them apart from each other
How he didn't expect that parrot was going to get chunkbanned and how pleasantly surprised he was to end up being alone with wifies and not him in that room
And parrot just stands there, silently coming to terms with the fact that all of this was for nothing, that he got chunkbanned for nothing
How is bestfriend was now alone
For nothing
spoke and parrot having a conversation in the chunkban void is something i've been thinking about now, thank you.

ik you’ve mentioned that DSS is your least fav book in the series and i’m wondering what you would change about it?
im not the biggest fan of it either tbh :)
Oh SO many things buckle in team. Ok so roughly in keeping with canon:
- first, Hazel wouldn't mention that Daisy was dead in the first chapter, nor would it mention it on the blurb
- for me it took the shock out of it so much that I wasn't even surprised she came back
- so it would be this secret until. Well. She actually throws herself in and then the Grief Pages
- just as a side note, when I first read the chapters where Hazel was grieving, I remember thinking 'surely Hazel should be sadder?' because emotions always tend to come through really nicely when Robin writes her. I like to think that Hazel was telling herself 'Daisy wouldn't like me moping about and wailing in the casebook about it'
- anyway
- I'm ALWAYS sitting on the fence about whether I like the moment they reveal themselves as detectives/police officers (I can't quite remember what they call themselves)
- first read I hated it I was like 'what are you doing!!!' but on a re-read I did think 'oh this is very fifteen year old behaviour'
- I really enjoyed the 'theyre 1930s teenage girls so have to be covert in their operations' aspect of MMU, so when they did reveal themselves as 'police officers' and were conducting interviews I did miss those vibes
- so I'd possibly change that bit, I'm not sure what to though
- I'd change how the Damina kiss played out
- I think it was too on the fly personally
- I would have written as Daisy goes to Amina's room for something. And then when she comes back, Hazel describes her as pink and distracted and how she keeps touching her lips. And Hazel writes in her casebook how 'Daisy has lipstick on her lips that wasn't there before but knew Daisy wouldn't appreciate her pointing it out' sort of thing
- I'd change nearly the whole ending
- it's always always bugged me (and made me sad if I'm being honest) how everyone was paired up at the end. I've spoken about this before, but just to reiterate, I think it was bad that a series aimed at 9-12 had all the characters pair up at the end of the series, as if all happy endings included a partner, and especially considering the speed at which it was done
- Halexander I get, it'd been building for a while. Damina, for the same reason, though I would have liked more development. But George and Lavinia I actually had to put the book down because I was speechless
- so yeah I'd do away with George and Lavinia completely (apologies George/Lavinia shippers 💔)
- as for Halexander like I said I get it it had been building
- but what I'd have liked to had seen is the bit where George is like 'has Alex really not said anything?' I would have somehow implied that he was being respectful of Hazel's grief, rather than just being nervous to confess
- and then Hazel would go seek him out instead, and ask him, and ofc he'd say yes
- but then Hazel would tell him 'i can't do this, not right now' and I like to think it would be a sweet moment where they agree to be 'friends for the foreseeable future'
- the whole 'Daisy reveal' thing bugs me too, I just didn't enjoy the way it was done. I'm possibly biased and pinning more on these relationships than there actually is, but I think Bertie and Hazel should have got to see Daisy alive together
- No do you know what I just didn't like the way Daisy actually 'died' either. If we're keeping with canon, she had to die because of the Grief Pages, but maybe I would have had Daisy pulled overboard secretly at night without Hazel realising, maybe about halfway through the book (so earlier than in canon)
- and so Hazel still has this glimmer of hope that Daisy is out there and takes charge and perseveres to solve the case with George, Alex and Amina
- which in my professional opinion would have made the 'madam president' and Hazel telling Daisy she made herself president more meaningful
#don't even get me started in what my personal canon is#murder most unladylike#mmu#daisy wells#hazel wong#alexander arcady#george mukherjee#amina el maghrabi#death sets sail#dss

pairing: various genshin male characters x gn!reader
a/n: aaaa i've been very busy i'm sorry for the long gap between chapters :( this chapter introduces a few of the boys hehe, hope u enjoy it ! next ch is the last one before reqs open aaa im so excited🤭
previous. // elysian masterlist. // next.
“Aether, it’s fine! Don’t worry, I can carry these in myself,” you heft the cardboard box you’re holding so you can see Aether’s face. “I don’t doubt that, but there is an awful lot of stuff…” He looks back at his car, which is piled to the brim with messily taped boxes. “Hey! You don’t get to say that when your room in college literally looked like it could be on an episode of Hoarders,” you roll your eyes at his lifted eyebrow, and he raises his hands in surrender, “Nooo, don’t bring up my dark past! I just meant that it would be faster if I helped.” “Whatever,” you stick out your tongue playfully at him and he laughs.
“Hm? And who might this lovely person be?”
A voice behind you sounds, and somehow you can already hear the smile in their tone before you spin around sharply to face them. It’s a tall man with a shock of ginger hair, sea-blue eyes scanning you intently and a smirk playing about his lips. “Childe, what are you doing here? Didn’t I tell you all to clear out earlier?” Aether doesn’t sound too happy about this turn of events. “Oh! You must be the new florist!” Childe blatantly ignores Aether’s exasperated tone and rushes forward to shake your hand heartily before winking, “He didn’t mention that you’d be this pretty.” You laugh, “Thanks. He didn’t mention he had such handsome friends either.” “Oh, he’s more like our boss-”
“Childe.” Aether’s tone is stern this time, “Can you please not overwhelm Y/N? They’ve just got here.” “Sorry,” Childe backs off with his hands raised in surrender, but then he shoots you a sly smile, “Can’t wait to get to know you better.” Massaging his temples, Aether sighs, “I take you being here to mean that so is everyone else.” “Correct!” Childe finger-guns before effortlessly lifting the box out of your arms despite your protests, “And they’re also excited to meet you, so let’s head right in!” As soon as Childe leaves, Aether groans, “Sorry about that, Y/N. I didn’t mean to introduce you to everyone today.” “Don’t worry about it,” you nudge him, “I appreciate the warm welcome. So, was that one of your colleagues?” “You could say that… though they’re more like subordinates,” he chuckles, and you gasp dramatically, “I can’t believe you’ve become a boss! Do I have to call you sir now?” Aether’s cheeks turn red and his eyes widen, “No!” “Alright, sir,” you tease. He looks away, unable to meet your playful gaze as he huffs, “Let’s just go inside.”
–
Upon entering the building, you’re met with a stunning sight. Almost every surface in the room is covered with flowers of every kind imaginable; sunflowers, dahlias, roses, tulips… the list is endless. It’s a rainbow kaleidoscope of colours wherever you look, and it takes you a few moments to really absorb the fact that this place is yours. “Ta-da! Welcome to your flower shop, Y/N!” Childe stands in the middle of it proudly, grinning at you until somebody whacks him in the back of the head. “Ow!” he rubs the bump with an offended look, “Xiao, what was that for?”
A shorter man with teal streaks in his dark hair steps out from behind Childe, “Accident.” “Yeah, right-” “I think it’s because you’re being irritatingly loud,” another man steps forward, this one with cropped indigo hair that matches his eyes, “You deserved that.” “Hey! I thought you were working on your anger issues,” Childe scowls, to which the other man says, “This is me working on my anger issues.” “Great first impression, guys,” Aether cuts in abruptly, shooting the three of them glares, “Anyway, meet Xiao and Scaramouche, Y/N.” Xiao offers you a curt nod, while Scaramouche looks you up and down judgmentally without even bothering to hide it. “See something you like?” you query with a wink, and his face turns as red as a tomato as he splutters, “What?! As if!” Aether groans and swiftly changes the topic, “Ignore him. So, what do you think of the place?”
“It’s amazing! Thank you so much, Aether!” you spin in a circle again to take it all in, and find that you can barely wrap your head around how you’re going to be in charge of all this – your childhood dream is finally coming true. “No need to thank me,” he smiles, “Most of it was already here, we just spruced it up a bit and brought in fresh flowers.” You cup a large drooping lily, and the grin on your face speaks for itself as to how happy you are.
Before you can thank them all even more, a couple of other men deep in an avid discussion about plants turn the corner. One has green hair cut into a neat bob, and the other is blonde with his hair braided to the back yet still reaching his shoulders. Seeing as they haven’t noticed you, Aether clears his throat, “Tighnari. Albedo. This is Y/N, they’ll be staying here from now on.” Both men look up at the same time with surprise, and Albedo tilts his head, “It’s nice to meet you.” “Indeed. I look forward to seeing how you’ll handle the place,” Tighnari shakes your hand firmly, “If you ever need any tips for how to look after the flowers, feel free to ask.” “Thanks! I’d really appreciate that,” you reply warmly, clasping his hand with both of yours and gazing into his forest green eyes with a smile.
Aether claps his hands, jolting you out of your reverie, “There’s still a lot of stuff from Y/N’s old apartment in the car, could you all help move them upstairs? Y/N, you should go outside and look around. After all, this’ll be your new home.” After he reassures you that they can handle transferring the boxes on their own (although Scaramouche stalks off with a grumpy “We don’t get paid enough for this.”), you decide to explore the area behind the building. There’s a hidden garden there, and it’s almost straight from a novel with how pretty it looks. A white swing set stands tall in one corner, while a bird feeder and a fountain decorate the rest of the area. Bushes of blossoming buds and trees swaying gently in the breeze grow in every inch of empty space, with a neat cobblestone path winding through it.
Yet there’s something that seems out of place: A tall man with blue hair tied neatly into a ponytail perched on the edge of the swing.
“Hello?” you try to acknowledge him, but it comes out as more of a question than a greeting. The melancholy written on his face as he stared into the depths of the small pond disappears in a second as he stands up with a smile, making you wonder if the pensive expression you saw was nothing more than a trick of the light, “Hello there. Who might you be?” “I should be asking you that,” you maintain eye contact, taking a careful step backward. “Me? I’m one of Aether’s employees, he’s got a pretty large company over here. The name’s Kaeya.” You relax at the mention of Aether, “Oh, I thought you were a creep from the way you were hiding out back here.” His chuckle rings out in the afternoon air, “What a wild assumption. Aether told us to stay far away until you got properly settled in here.” “Looks like nobody listened.” “Hmm… let’s just say that none of us are upright rule-followers.”
He leans in as if telling you a secret, “And you wanna know something else?” Your curiosity is piqued too, so you move closer excitedly, “What is it?” “I’m actually a pretty good tour guide!” Kaeya grins, “And I know all the best spots around here. What say we ditch them and go for a ride?” Guilt pricks at your conscience for leaving the other boys to deal with the boxes, but you soothe it by telling yourself they said they would be fine. So you beam, “Sure, let’s go!” “It’d be my honour to show such an adorable person around,” he winks, beckoning you to follow him to the car, “Now, your majesty, your carriage awaits.”
In hindsight, that was a pretty bad decision to make, especially on a day which had started off with awful news – there’s no guarantee that it would have ended with the sudden influx of good luck. So the moral of the story should be: don’t follow random strangers into their car even if they claim to know your friends, because it could end up with you locked in an interrogation room at the local police station for crimes you didn’t even know about.
And if that sounds oddly specific, it’s because you lived through it.

I will 1000% ask about how your Meta-Knight ain't got no common sense :D Please, explain in detail.
Before I start, I want it to be known - Meta Knight is among my top favorite characters. He WAS my favorite character before I got hyper-attached to the tricksters.
That said, I do not put him on the same pedestal most of the rest of the fandom (??) does. And I mean that lovingly. I'm all about having as many different interpretations of characters as possible. So if everyone else's Meta Knights are the smartest member of the main team, that's cool!
But I didn't grow up with the anime, where Meta Knight was the mentor and holder of the only braincell. I grew up with Kirby's Adventure where Meta Knight flings his mercenary group at you while also throwing you Invincibility Candy like he's meme Tuxedo Mask! And he's doing all this AFTER having been entrusted with a piece of the Star Rod by Dedede to stop Dream Land from being consumed by the literal incarnation of Nightmares!!
...Very responsible. :nod nod:
And Revenge of Meta Knight! As can be pointed out, Meta Knight is close enough with Dedede to be entrusted with a piece of the Star Rod and the secret of Dark Nebula's sealed treasure chest, but somehow, in-between these two events, he just randomly decides to START A COUP?! And it's because he thinks random military action will make the Dream Landers abandon their lazy ways!
I really don't think highly of the Return to Dream Land novelization but there's a scene early on where Kirby and Meta Knight are trying to talk down some enemies "peaceably" but the second one of them makes a single misstep, Meta Knight draws his sword like it's a fork at an all-you-can-eat buffet and immediately wants to DESTROY these two goons just because someone said the word "fight."
This one is more of a personal interpretation, but I laugh every time when fighting Meta Knight in Kirby's Epic Yarn because it just feels like every time you snatch the CLEARY EVIL sword away from him, he just grabs the next one without even thinking! (I mean, more likely it just takes him over while he's still fighting off the possession, but I can't imagine Meta Knight would refuse a sword even if it was labeled "Massively Evil - Do Not Touch.")
And he builds the Buddy Fight Tower with Dedede. I want to emphasize that. That wasn't Dedede saying he wants to build a 99-floor tower to fight Kirby and Meta Knight trying and failing to stop him. No, you can bet Meta was on board the whole time. The end credits make it clear they were always in this together.
He's Dedede's Sworn Partner. Not his Smart Partner.
I know I've made some comments about Meta in Amazing Mirror too in regards to the treatment of Dark Meta Knight. One possible interpretation I put forth, based on DMK's crazy pause lore is that Dark Meta Knight has been around for mu~ch longer than the plot of KatAM and yet Meta Knight thought it was cool to just keep a lid on the whole "parallel universe with my blood-thirsty combat-crazed doppleganger running around. Oh yeah, he can also LEAVE said parallel universe at will and has power over prismatic light and can split things into four but again, no need to warn anyone about that. I'll go off to smack him around myself and not tell anyone."
Meta Knight is kinda cringe. He's a big, huge dork. He thinks he knows what he's doing but he doesn't. You know how he likes books? And likes to read? So he's smart?!?
I point you to the Sweet Dreams, Kirby book where Meta Knight shows up with a friggin' encyclopediaat some UNGODLY hour of night and asks Kirby - KIRBY - if he WANTS TO READ WITH HIM!!
No wonder Kirby doesn't grace that with a response.
Meta Knight is... kinda dumb. I'm sorry~! I love him as much as the rest of you do. I really, truly do. But he's a silly bat...
-
As for Marx's placement, to re-iterate what I wrote in the tags, Marx may have thought to wish on a planet-sized pocket watch to be able to do mischief all day long with no consequences, but at least he kept his plans to himself. He didn't linger around and get all chatty and give reasons for Kirby or the others to get suspicious.
He followed Kirby discretely, waited until THE perfect moment, backstabbed (back-kicked) Kirby into space and made his wish. Marx would have won if not for the Sparkle Stars saving Kirby's life AND providing him with a ship. And that was damn well nearly a deus ex machina save!
After Marx gets blown up and turned into meat spaghetti, the next time we see him, he's suddenly all playing nicey-nice with Kirby and friends! "Look! I'm a good guy now! Mwee hee hee!" But it's because he knows that Kirby can and will defeat him if he acts up. That Kirby will defy all logic to do it. As he has before.
...Marx learned his lesson FAST. Thus, why I judge him smart.
He is terminally silly though.

How come no one ever told me just how good Rise from the ashes is like what?!?!
Maybe it's because this is the first case I've played where I haven't known how it ended (I watched the anime first I'm sorry) other than the Layton crossover (it's validity as an ace attorney game is debatable) so it's amazed me just how much I've enjoyed this game
Like why is it all so good
In honour of this newfound love here's a list of all the things I enjoyed from the game (spoilers obviously):
• Ema - she's fun. Not to say I didn't like Maya but it's fun watching Ema fangirl about her interests
• Scientific analysis - why is this so cool. I get to examine the evidence! Heck yeah. I actually prefer it to the magatama but that's because I have the same reaction as edgeworth does with is 'noooooooooooo' anytime I see a psyche lock because some secrets should remain secret
• Edgeworth - what's going on with Edgeworth I loved him in the previous cases but he's really shining now we get to see more of his personality AND HE GOT TWO NEW SPRITES IM LIVING FOR IT and he's so snarky like 'the lunchladys uninformed notion is duly noted' OKAY and his half assed objection because don't tell me how to do my job thank you very much and when they try to introduce new evidence and he goes um actually that's not something I will be accepting for the time being so thanks but no thanks
• King of Prosecutors - HE EMBARRASSED
• Resignation - this post is turning out Edgeworth heavy but can you blame me the face that Edgeworth was planning on resigning because he felt betrayed by the system I guess and then there was all those rumours THAT WERENT EVEN TRUE (to an extent, he didn't know) and it's just so sad and I know how he ends up but still
• luminol spray and fingerprints - like with the scientific analysis this is just so cool it's giving professor Layton where you tap the screen frantically looking for hint coins but instead of looking for hint coins we're looking for blood
• Gant - I'm sure there are posts that can better explain the point I'm trying to put across but the fact that he was able to make threats in court right there in front of everyone and still be considered reputable and even untouchable says something. Also I know he's not a great guy because of the stuff he did but somehow his last moments are pretty wholesome when he looks to the future that is phoenix and Edgeworth and it gives you hope you know
• letter - I know what it says but damn Edgeworth really left everything and told no one
So yeah I've been playing this game non stop and I really enjoyed it it was so so good

If, in an alternative universe, Yonderland wasn't cancelled abruptly after the Christmas special and instead got renewed for a 4th series/season or at least the Six Idiots instead wanted to continue it one last time, what kind of storylines would you personally like to have seen explored in that hypothetical 4th series/season and why?
I've been thinking of a hypothetical 4th season for like a week now, so thank you for the chance to talk about it!
The main thing I would love to see, and basically what the entire season would be centred around in my mind, is Debbie becoming an Elder like her father! I think it'd be a nice way for her to connect with the dad she never got to meet, and just a way to cement that she'll always have a home in Yonderland/prove just how important she is to everyone there. It would be especially sweet if she could have her father's old robe and broach but idk if that would even be possible.
And I think it could have led to some interesting situations/episodes, ie:
an episode where Debbie has to go on a fetch quest to get some item that's needed to become an Elder. The Elders claim all who wish to join the council must go on this perilous quest, but after a bit of needling, they admit yeah, no, we just lost it and we need you to go get it. I would love for Negaus to get involved, like, he's determined to stop her and ruin everything- but he's bad at it and keeps accidentally helping Debbie. She doesn't realise that until the end, and when she does she's just like 'Oh! Thanks! Want to come to the ceremony? :)'. He does, he was just throwing a hissy fit because he didn't get an invitation. (Ho-Tan did send one, she just got his name wrong and it ended up with a Nagetus instead)
(Honestly, I just really want a Negatus arc where he does completely become a good guy who just awkwardly hangs around the Elders and Debbie while denying to his demons that he's good now. I think they kinda did that in the final season but I also think they kind of undid it at the end, which is a shame)
an episode where, amongst all the planning for the ceremony, Debbie's a bit sad she can't invite Pete and the kids. She admits that Elf+Nick after being mopey all episode, at which point they say no one ever told her she had to keep Yonderland a secret. She just did that (because that's the fantasy trope, that's what you do, keep it a secret) and no one thought to correct her.
an episode where she does finally, after multiple interruptions, tell Pete and bring him to Yonderland. He of course loves it, and it takes Debbie like an hour to talk him down from the idea of moving there. He immediately latches onto Negatus, thinks he's the coolest thing ever, and Negatus is very confused but happy with the attention. Pete almost dies about seven times, but it does nothing to dampen his glee. The kids think it's alright. They'd like it better if the wi-fi was good.
an episode where Debbie, Negatus and Pete go on a quest to sort out some squabble in a nearby town. Negatus and Pete are separated from Debbie and have to team up to 'save the day'. Meanwhile, she just ended up at someone's house, enjoying a cup of tea and a chat.
an episode of Elders in the real world hijinks. I think we could do with more of that, especially if it led to Debbie and Ho-tan having a clothes montage set to Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. They deserve it.
and of course, an episode with big, grand 'crowning' ceremony with the Elders, Pete, and Negatus desperately trying to make sure everything goes to plan and refusing to let Debbie know/help, Elf and Nick doing their best to distract her. Somehow, it all works out in the end though and Debbie becomes an Elder, surrounded by her all of her family

people tend to think trans people are special snowflakes who get pampered by society so here's being trans from the perspective of a transgender 14-year-old who has no adult support in his life. please boost this message to transphobes, it might not change their minds but it could at least make them consider the real children they're hurting.
• when I came out at 13 I was yelled at by my parents until I cried
• according to transphobes it's somehow my fault that I was born with a female body
• people at school ask me what my pronouns are as an insult and call me slurs and nobody does anything about it, not even teachers care
• I came out to these people I thought I could trust and their response was to push me out of their circle of friends and harass me, constantly calling me a lesbian even though I'm not even a girl
• life seems to have lost its colour and I can't remember the last time I felt actual strong emotions
• actual grown ass adults complain about trans people on the internet just for clout and argue with each other about whether or not we deserve rights, as if that isn't the most dehumanising shit
• I've been told that my feelings don't matter by a teacher at my school because "people in countries at war have it worse"
• the prime minister of my country was on national television spreading hate speech about my people and everyone is acting like he's a saint for it, completely ignoring the other bad things he's done for this country because "he hates trans people and that's good"
• I have to stand idly by while trans people my age are committing suicide and I am so scared I will end up adding to that statistic
• there's bad apples in every group of people and just because I'm trans I have to be grouped in with every bigoted/hateful trans person when I'm just trying to keep myself alive and I'm not bothering anyone
• I am too scared to bring up my queer identity around anyone because I don't want them to think I'm shoving it in their face, it might as well be a secret even though I've been out for over a year
• i sometimes forget that I'm not physically a boy but then it hits me again when I see how much taller/deep voiced my male peers are
• I had to resocialise myself as male and change so many things about my behaviour that it's constantly at the forefront of my mind
• my chest constantly feels tight, I can't breathe deeply, my breathing is shaky and I get random rib pains every few hours
• I'm told that my gender is a "protected characteristic" but adults are doing a piss poor job at protecting me, I feel like I'm in danger because of being queer
• people at school harassed me so much for being trans that I practically forced myself back into the closet by telling them I don't care what they refer to me as (I most definitely do care)
• my identity is so normal to me but it's not normal for anyone else, I'll be talking about a girl crush I have thinking what I'm saying is normal but someone chimes in with "oh are you a lesbian?" and it brings me back to the harsh reality that being queer isn't normal
• I used to feel so much pride as a queer kid but now I just hate everything about being queer and I wish so badly that I could be just like everyone else
• more and more laws are being put in place against my people and one day I might not even be able to get gender affirming treatment
• the chemical imbalance in my brain is considered a political stance rather than just a rare condition a group of people have that shouldn't be a big deal
• I, a 14 year old boy, am more mature about gender than ACTUAL GROWN ADULTS who go on PUBLIC TELEVISION TO COMPLAIN ABOUT ME WHEN I AM JUST TRYING TO EXIST IN PEACE
• I keep being hit with the realisation that I still need to wait four years just for the chance of merely beginning to transition, which will cost me thousands of pounds and probably take more than ten years to fully transition, whereas my peers are just handed it at birth
• trans people are seen by society as "annoying" and "shoving it down people's throats" and "looking for an excuse to be special" for some fucking reason
• I have to juggle all this shit with trying hard in school and balancing life, all while my brain is not even fully developed yet. my cognitive and emotional processing skills aren't even close to being developed but i have to deal with suicidal thoughts, media pushing the idea that I'm mentally ill, internalised transphobia, constant harassment, transphobia from almost every single person in my life, feeling like a fucking freak for a chemical imbalance in my brain, and yet I STILL have to deal with normal teenage things like feeling ugly or struggling in school, and further yet I CANT TALK TO A SINGLE ADULT ABOUT MY SITUATION BECAUSE NOBODY BELIEVES ME OR SUPPORTS ME
• the cherry on top: there is absolutely nothing I can do about my situation until I turn 18, my only option is to suck it up and deal with it until either get actual help or end up killing myself
if you're an adult who thinks trans people are groomers/snowflakes/annoying/criminal, think about how your actions are impacting youth who are just trying to stay alive. you are not protecting children by making us wait longer for treatment or shielding us from supportive outlets. grow the fuck up. you're an adult, act like it. find something else to do with your life than attack an astronomically small minority of people.

Heya, I'm going to do a one shot session for my birthday and I'm looking for recommendations! If you're up for giving me some pointers, I'd be super happy. I'll be playing with people who have no experience role-playing, and I myself have little experience and I've never DM'ed. It needs to be easy to understand and the rules need to be easily readable for the players. It can be GM less (doesn't have to be) because I'm also really excited about playing :) It should be creative and not to combat heavy. Aesthetic wise I'm flexible, I like magic and fantasy but I'm not at all set on that, just one thing: I made a mysterious notebook (dark academia style) that I want to use during the session, it documents "secrets" like maps and drawings of plants and old photographs, nothing's legible in there, I just want people to make up the secrets that have been discovered within this book. So the notebook needs to somehow fit into the game, but the setting in general does not need to be dark academia style.
Wow that's a really long ask,I hope you're not seeing it as me feeling entitled to a super specific recommendation. Just if you want to give me and my inexperienced friends a hint for my birthday afternoon, anything at all, I'd be super happy
Theme: New Group Friendly, Fantastical Mystery
Alright, so for this answer, these are the following concepts I tried to consider:
Guidance for the GM
Friendly to new players, easy to teach
Creative with a de-emphasis off combat
magic, fantasy, mystery, a little bit of darkness
something that encourages the group to flip through some kind of oracle
GM-less is welcome but not necessary
All of these games have GM-less as an option, but I recommend that if you're the one picking the game, that you read through at and be ready to facilitate, as you'll know a bit more about what's going on.
A Land Once Magic, by Viditya Voleti.
A Land Once Magic is a Post-Fantasy worldbuilding game to help create unique worlds based around deconstructing and evolving fantasy tropes and creating unique magic systems that are built from the ground up. Using only random tables and a deck of cards you'll be able to create a wholly original post-fantasy world!
If you want to specifically use the mysterious notebook to add to the game you are playing, I think a world building game would be a great way to incorporate it into the setting itself. A Land Once Magic asks you to create a world together and come up with your own ideas about how magic works, using a deck of cards and random tables. However, for a game like this, you could use the book that you have to give you ideas about how to answer questions in the game. For example, to answer the question about what cost magic has, flipping the book to a page with a botanical drawing of flowers might inspire the character to talk about the the bond between magic and living things, or how flowers fail to bloom where magic has been cast.
I like the fact that this game is GM-less, giving everyone the same creative agency, and that it structures play using cards, so you should always have an idea of what you can do next. At the end of it you’ll have a completely unique setting where you can imagine the potential of future stories and adventures!
Goblin Market, by Kestrel Eliot.
Every solstice, the veil thins between the worlds, merging mortal world with fae realm. Some time ago, the goblins started a market on the solstices to encourage friendship, trade, and storytelling between the worlds. Play to get to know your characters, meet fae beings, and ultimately decide where you belong.
Another game that uses a deck of cards as prompts for telling a story, Goblin Market explores the story of mortals trying to decide if they run away into the fae realm or not. You’ll spend the game in three different phases: setting up character backstory as they explore the market, diving into the personal struggles and connections of each character as the are confronted with the magical food of the Goblin Market, and then finally a choice - do you stay, or do you go? What does this mean for you in the future?
This is another game in which you could use the book as an oracle. You could flip to different pages to help characters answer questions about themselves if you like, or even use it as inspiration for what happens once each character makes their decision. This game definitely provides the structure a first-timer might appreciate, while encouraging each player to put forward ideas and create the Goblin Market as you play.
Beating Heart Bargain, by Charlotte Laskowski.
Beating Heart Bargain is a rules-lite tabletop roleplaying game made for one to three players, with or without a GM. You play as a Wizard who has traded a piece of themselves in exchange for more power, and now you seek to retrieve what you had once bargained away. Heavy inspiration is taken from Studio Ghibli films, especially Howl’s Moving Castle and Spirited Away.
This game has such an enchanting theme, and provides all of your characters with short but evocative options to create their wizards. This game can be GM-less, but it doesn’t have to be. If you play without a storyteller, the players will take turns describing the environment around you, the people you meet, and the creatures and details that will show up as problems emerge. You could use your book as a kind of “grimoire” in this game, possibly as an oracle to fill out parts of the setting, or perhaps the pages leave clues as to how to return your missing piece.
This game is extremely creative and really encourages you to avoid combat if possible. I strongly recommend that you check out this game!
EYE: A Murder Mystery Generator, by Zak Makes Games.
EYE is a cooperative mystery solving game for one to six players. Players take on the role of detectives, hunting down suspects, evidence and clues in order to solve a randomly generated murder mystery. It’s up to you and your friends to make sense of the information presented and get to the bottom of each mysterious case!
This is a setting-agnostic mystery game, so if you would like to use it for a fantastical setting, you absolutely can! Players will use a random word to generate the premise of the mystery, and then interview suspects and uncover evidence to determine who the murderer actually is. You can use the book as a way to come up with clues, and perhaps even make it an integral part of solving the case! This game is totally co-op, and the pieces of evidence that are required give everyone a concrete goal to pursue and points the group in a specific direction. Worth checking out!

Although Celeste had made it obvious that she would be shifting her focus onto the upcoming exam for her music course, that wasn't the only thing on her mind.
Perhaps this John man knew, she wouldn't entirely know.
She had called her representative for the Paldean Parliament about addressing them all in the next session; which ironically or coincidentally was right after getting out of her quarantine.
The woman had told her that part of the discussions would be about the Crater; to which she somehow was able to squeeze Celeste having time on the floor.
When that time arrived, Celeste was dressed in the usual dress suit she had worn when sitting in these sessions. She walked up to the speaking podium, her body language being bitter as her mouth opened to speak.
"I would like to announce that I will be stepping down from the position given to me as the expert and top researcher of Area Zero."
There were voices all over the room from all the adults in the room. Some were panicking at this and telling off at her before Celeste put her hand up to continue speaking.
She only had a certain amount of time on the floor, and she was not going to waste it by this backtalking.
"I will no longer be your pawn in order to gain power in the international fields. And I no longer tolerate the pathetic attempt to make me; one of the few initial people who knew of Professor Turo's passing, into Paldea's Regional Professor by force.
The Academy here promotes the students to choose whatever path they want; to find their own Treasure. And yet, the adults here in this very room are so selfish and power hungry that they want to steal that away from one who moved to this region after her family was given enough sympathy by the isolationist government to give refugee status during the Great Freeze years ago."
There were more voices of protest. They're growing. Saying how disrespectful she was being until Celeste slammed her hands the hardest she could on the podium.
"I'M NOT FINISHED YET! BE SILENT AND STOP INTERUPTTING THE TIME I HAVE BEEN GIVEN TO SPEAK TO ANY OF YOU!" She yelled; her voice echoing across the chambers and quieting almost everyone in an instant.
"My childhood was robbed from me by a person who should be there to protect me, yet he chose to hurt me for selfish and petty reasons. And now that's happening all over again by the people who should've known how damaging to the mind it is to see and experience what I have!
I refuse to let that happen ever again! Even if I have very little time to still be considered a child in some people's eyes, I choose to take that and finally live for myself! Just as what the teachers and Director have wished for students like myself!
You know enough about the Crater through everything I've done and the clearance you've given Ms. Briar at Blueberry Academy. There's nothing more you need to know about down there! Leave it alone and pay attention to the people that you should be serving as public servants!
To the youth you've abandoned for so long to the point that they've had to take the pain they've felt into their own hands because the literal adults in the room failed them in multiple and severe degrees!
It is time to bring this era of conquesting the Great Crater much like the ancient emperor whose kingdom came to a demise for his own greedy desires and keeping it secret from the public to an end! The people of Paldea and the rest of the world deserves to know what this oh so sacred and all knowing governing body has been doing while the region's systems were degrading beyond recognition."
She took a deep breath in and out as the timer started to indicate that there wasn't much time left for her.
"As my parting words...I will say this. Think more about the consequences of what you all have done in the perspective of fifty years; even a century from now looking back at these events in hindsight!
The mysteries have been solved; it's futile now to only think about them. Use what time we have on this planet to think on how all this will impact those yet to come and people like me who will have to live and fix what problems you create.
For the future will not always be in fully your hands to control; whether you like it or not."
Without another comment, Celeste got off the podium and walked out of the chambers quietly and calmly. She's done what she needed to do.
And is now in full control of what she wants her future to be.

hej! so first of all I'd like to thank you for all the amazing work you do, honestly you're my hero.
second, I wanted to know if you know any fanfictions with both stiles and derek point of view (preferable they being enemies at the beginning) because I've been looking for some like this and can't find. thanks!
I love alternating POV. Here's some with enemies to lovers for you.
Witch in my woods by changez
(1/1 I 5,003 I Teen)
Leaving his pack, Stiles is inexplicably drawn to the West Coast. Unbeknownst to Stiles, someone is inexplicably drawn to him.
only you can mend by bibliosexual
(1/1 I 7,226 I Mature)
The roommate part seems like the best idea of them all, at least for the first day or so of knowing him, before Stiles shows up.
Scott McCall is nineteen, athletic and cheerful with a surfer-bro kind of vibe. There’s something about his face, his goofy puppy grin and floppy hair and warm brown eyes, that reads as inherently wholesome. Derek likes that a lot. He likes the way Scott introduces himself with an easy, “Hey, man, nice to meet you,” and he likes the gentle yet firm way he shakes Derek’s hand. He’s the opposite of everyone Derek associated with in New York. He’s the kind of person Derek needs right now in his life. He’s going to be the perfect roommate.
And then there’s Stiles Stilinski.
How to Uncook an Egg by suburbanmotel
(1/1 I 15,406 I Mature)
It's all fun and games until someone gets their stupid feelings puked on.
//
Derek stares. “What are you talking about, Stiles?”
Stiles groans and surges forward, mouth on Derek’s mouth, hands in Derek’s hair, on the sides of his face, the back of his neck.
“No strings attached, ok?” Stiles says, breathless, against the side of Derek’s face, his jaw, his ear. “We can do that, if that’s what you want.”
“Is that whatyouwant?” Derek says. His hands are under Stiles' shirts, sliding against smooth smooth skin, up his sides around to his back, down the notches of his spine, everything warm and smooth. “Is it?”
Stiles just kisses him hard, harder and Derek just keeps kissing him back.
Or:
Derek never stays the night. Stiles pretends he doesn’t mind.
Baby and the Body by never_love_a_wild_thing
(8/8 I 28,179 I Teen)
Stiles recreates models' Instagram photos with his baby. At a fashion show one day, he runs into the model who's pictures he uses most often (and most ironically). Somehow they work through the animosity and find a family.
From The Wreckage by orphan_account, Winchesterek
(5/5 I 58,058 I Explicit)
The only thing Stiles wanted was a little freedom. He wanted to be able to walk where he wanted in the forest, wanted to be able to do what he wanted when he wanted and most of all he wanted to be an adult, especially because he was one. The last thing he wanted was to feel trapped by the Argent's rules about curfew. He understood that there were werewolves and getting too close to the were-border was dangerous, but hell if he was going to let that stop him from having a little fun.
Needless to say, fun was overrated and all Stiles wanted was to go home to his friends and father now.
Tell Me It's a Sure Thing by ofherlionheart
(10/10 I 67,451 I Mature)
Beacon Hills is a small town, something of a supernatural haven from hunters, but only because the Nemeton exudes so much twisted energy and attracts such ugly nasties on the regular that no hunter wants to get within a hundred miles of it. It is the hollow sanctuary where Derek and Lydia, like many others before and after them, ended up after fleeing from the nightmare of their old lives.
Then M. Stiles Stilinski arrives. Bodies begin to appear, hunters become bold enough to venture across town lines, and secrets begin to surface. But somehow, in spite of the growing chaos … Stiles is making it better.
You Don't Always Get What You Want by deadly_nightshade, Nerdy_fangirl_57
(7/? I 63,105 I Mature)
Stiles doesn't understand what he could have done to deserve this. Not only has the entire student body been out to get him since he first stepped foot into Beacon Hills High, but now he has to endure the constant bullying without his best friend Scott by his side. All in all school is survivable, even with all the harassment. That is until he finds out that Derek Hale, basketball superstar and Stiles' most persistent bully, is apparently his soulmate. Fan-fucking-tastic.
Derek can't believe this. It has to be a joke, it has to, because there is no way in hell that a freak like Stilinski could ever be his soulmate. He despises him more than anyone in the universe. So what if Derek thinks he has a cute nose, no one needs to know. Besides it doesn't matter anyway, he still hates Stilinski with every fiber of his being, his cute nose doesn't change a thing.
let slip the dogs of war by creationmyth
(12/12 I 86,920 I Explicit)
He stares at himself in the mirror. His cheeks are faintly blotchy, flush sparsely coloring down his neck. His eyes look glassy and half-crazed. “Get it the fuck together,” he growls lowly to his reflection. “You loseeverything. Get fucking used to it.”
He can’t stop thinking about it. How Derek looked at him, said his name reverently rather than disdainfully.
Stiles sits on the shower floor, shivering even though the spray is far too hot. He keeps replaying the words over and over -sometimes the person someone shows us and the person we choose to see are two different people.
For the first time, Stiles takes a moment to seriously consider that perhaps he has never known Derek Hale at all.

i have this silly little undeveloped au in my brain that's just like. tedependent but it's the sarah jane adventures. sort of. not literally in the doctor who universe necessarily but like. local intrepid reporter trent crimm investigating weird shit except the local neighborhood kids will not leave him alone.
i have so many thoughts about this but none of them are coherent enough for a proper fic i think:
i just think trent being good with kids, generally. go mentor figure trent! (what this has nothing to do with my thesis what do you mean)
trent, like sarah jane pre-series, having a sort of reputation in the neighborhood (or in general, since i'm also incorporating his actual canon vibes/story) as to being standoffish, aloof, cold, etc., and generally anti-social, keeping to himself. and as the kids keep dragging him into things kicking and screaming he might also be dragged kicking and screaming into a community <3
if his daughter is essentially luke does that mean he adopted her under Strange Alien-Related Circumstances? absolutely it does, yes.
see i've got two great ideas for ted/tedependent. on one hand, although in the context of SJA/nuwho i'm not so much one for sarah jane and the doctor as a Thing, ted playing the role of like. someone from trent's Mysterious Past who he won't talk about who set him on this path? someone who was kind and wonderful and changed his life but then--at least it feels like to him--abandoned him? someone who made him a better person--from doing whatever journalism he used to do to this--someone who he's still kinda in love with... but trent can no longer even really talk to......until he shows up again? that's some good shit, not gonna lie. although i'm jimmying that into a happy ending somehow, goddamn it.
ALTERNATIVELY. henry being one of the Neighborhood Kids (as if we're using "canon" kids, we've got limited options) and ted being an oblivious parent. trent is trying to get these kids to STOP POKING INTO DANGEROUS ALIEN NONSENSE PLEASE THIS IS HIS JOB PLEASE STOP BREAKING INTO HIS HOUSE but they're stubborn and smart and they may or may not have saved his life once or twice and oh GOD THIS IS SO IRRESPONSIBLE but he can't just TELL THESE RANDOM NEIGHBORS about ALIENS. but like anyway this just painful secret identity-esque nonsense where ted knows henry's taken a shine to that nice journalist down the street and his daughter but does NOT know that henry is getting into Shenanigans(TM). this could lead into all sorts of drama about, you know, his kid being in danger... or, alternatively, ted has worked with some unit/torchwood-esque place before and is like OHH you know what? this explains that time i thought i heard you speaking an alien language. cool, cool. and trents like. .....WHAT
etc. i'm not wording this well but i think you get the idea.
if you really really wanted to make it complicated you could do both, considering the doctor's whole thing--either a fob watch or a regeneration--but honestly, i don't want to do that, so i won't
some of the adults do definitely get involved though. keeley either clocks that shit right away or thinks she's clocked it but she's actually clocked something entirely different. she's like i know you're mi6 babe ;) and he. is not. meanwhile roy having ten freakouts in a row and then being like nvm i'm fine with this. (is not fine with this, but will be eventually). jamies like yeah aliens. everyone knows about those. and they're like what?? no they dont?? and so on.
is beard an alien? genuinely no one's sure. he's not telling.
HOLD ON can i give trent k-9???? can trent crimm get a robot dog?????? yes please i think he deserves a robot dog
also see the trickster episodes? bet you could do something real fucked up with those.
i feel like i had more when i started this post but i don't remember
this not well thought out at all and i have no idea where everyone would fit in
anyway my point is. trent crimm, intrepid journalist, running around trying to stop alien shenanigans while Those Meddling Kids keep following him around. trent crimm doin a little Breaking And Entering. scooby doo shit. and he has such an interesting mix of seeming suave and badass and then immediately doing something embarrassing. trent crimm--via shenanigans and also Those Meddling Kids dragging him into their lives (aka he tries to keep his distance SO badly and only is involved when dangerous shit is going down but like then it's all. child knocking on his door like IT'S AN EMERGENCY OPEN UP and hes like WHAT WHAT IS IT and theyre like can you help me with my homework :( and hes like. fuck. yeah fine what do you want help with. (some subjects he's very helpful on others he's VERY not) until they're like okay but you're coming to this bbq right. and he's like? no? and they're like you're coming to this bbq right. and so on) ANYWAY the point is they keep dragging him into their lives and now oops! trent actually knows his neighbors and has to go through the mortifying ordeal of being known. but that also means that when he gets badly hurt or sick he's used to the empty hospital room but now he actually gets people showing up and forcing baked goods on him and shit and i'm just feeling a lot of things about this extremely hypothetical au based on my already existing feelings about trent gaining a community in s3/post-canon,
wait does this mean trent gets sonic lipstick? HELL YEAH IT DOES
#well actually i have a LOT of silly little underdeveloped aus in my brain but#anyway. crack edition: the football players are still football players.#trent crimm wondering why he's trying to stop an alien spaceship from blowing up the block#with the help of a team of famous football players. roy kent just punched a raxicoricofallapatorian.#trent on the couch with a black eye bc they had a run in with a sontaron or some shit: [holding up peas to his face] okay.#so jamie tartt is here for some reason. and also the neighbor i have a crush on. and also his son. and also colin. this is fine#that's all a joke obviously but the imagery has me cackling#anyway this also made me think of trent as river song which doesnt work at first glance but then when i think about some PARTICULAR things#makes me cry. like. just. meeting him in reverse.#it's s3 trent--dorky and open and softer but sadder--that he meets first#and by the time he reaches the end he sees how far he's come out of his shell and how unhappy he was#but then they have their moment...#sorry that's also barely coherent and definitely wouldn't make a cohesive au without a lot more work im just spinning thoughts in my brain#trent crimm#tedependent#tedtrent#ted x trent#sja au#tvtcau#the first one before i even had that lol

TWO HAN SOOYOUNGS! Well, okay, there’s technically always been two Han Sooyoungs but ngl I completely forgot that she mentioned a clone that ran off. Or so she says, anyway. Because why not add another mystery onto our mystery? Which Han Sooyoung is the original? Which is the avatar? (Honestly I don’t even care, I love them both.) Absolutely was not expecting the other person Secretive Plotter made an Outer World Covenant with to be her, though of course that makes the most sense actually. And his words were lowkey foreshadowing if you think about it with the whole “I’m expecting much bigger things.” Yeah, because Dokja’s actually read the entire novel whereas Sooyoung hasn’t so he's expecting more from the guy who's read it all. And that's not even getting into how Secretive Plotter was immediately drawn to Dokja (and perhaps Sooyoung too). I've thought for a long time that he was away of who Dokja was or at least what he could do. And speaking of the original novel, everything is so mixed up right now. We’re getting into some real hardcore sci-fi alternate universes and parallel timelines kinda stuff. Though I did vaguely feel like something like this was coming. Not this specifically but the fact that the novel isn’t halfway through did actually make me wonder if we weren’t going to start the story over (like maybe Dokja was going to regress somehow) or something weird like that. Wasn’t expecting to jump into Sooyoung’s version of the 1863rd round, but if Dokja is going to start looking into other worlds, this does make sense. Now I’m really wondering what’s gonna happen with all of these different versions of TWSA. Will it be Dokja vs Sooyoung for who’s final chapter will prevail? Or will the worlds not merge at all and they can continue to reach their own final chapters? Since Secretive Plotter specifically asked "what about the other worlds" will Dokja's goal moving into the second half of the story now involve saving them too? And, wow, on an entirely different note, it’s actually kind of terrifying how easily Dokja was able to completely neutralize not only Joonghyuk, but the strongest Joonghyuk who’s existed 1863 rounds. No, not even neutralize, but turn him into his own personal mindless weapon. I mean, sure, Fourth Wall started it by making it so that he could be affected by the regressor depression but Dokja is terrifying in applying his knowledge of all of Joonghyuk’s best and worst moments. Which, on that topic, it’s honestly upsetting to see this world where everyone has managed to survive together until the end—the very world that Dokja has so carefully being trying to create—and Joonghyuk is still alone. 😭 They're off in their little base together like some kind of family and he's treated like some kind of beast to hunt down. 😭 And why is he alone? “Because he’s a bad guy who won’t hesitate to kill to fulfill his goals.” Uh...you guys literally have Kim Namwoon on your team and Han Sooyoung is not the most merciful person for a leader. Are you really ones to talk??? Yeah, Joonghyuk is a killing machine but you're telling me nobody on this team has killed people to fulfill their goals? What??? Especially since Dokja, the guy who has read the entire novel and knows intimately how truly awful Joonghyuk can be, still chose to reach out to him again and again and again and again until it finally stuck. Joonghyuk isn't some depressed, murderous monster in his world because Dokja did everything in his power to prevent it. Joonghyuk didn't have to end up like this. Again. Admittedly, even Dokja says that he got lucky finding Joonghyuk in his third round whereas Sooyoung seems to have found him in his last, but even in this round with a much scarier and more jaded Joonghyuk already in the 95th scenario, Dokja is still refusing to kill him even after he already attacked him, even if he knows that if Joonghyuk snaps out of his weird trance he will absolutely try to murder him.
#orv novel chapter 291#orv#orv spoilers#orv liveblog#omniscient reader's viewpoint#kdj#yjh#hsy#as sad as I am for yjh I do hope we stay in this world for a little bit#I do want to get back to the kdj crew especially HIS yjh since he literally gave up regression for him and then dokja DISAPPEARED#but I am definitely having fun seeing this alternate universe#lmfao Kim Namwoon taking selfies with him 😂

My fill for my @guardianbingo prompt of 'spaceship'.
Look, give me a show with aliens and special powers and time travel and heartbreak and watch me make it relevant to Doctor Who. If there's one thing I can do, it's make everything about Who. I've thought way too much about this so I'm gonna make it everyone's problem. (behind a read more though because wow I ramble)
I hear spaceship and I think TARDIS, because it's been almost twenty years and I am not getting over DW ever at this point. So my brain decided hey what if Zhao Yunlan got thrown back in time in a more comfortable and stylish way? And thus this image came to mind.
But my mind is not one for shutting up, so while this came to be I had a lot of thoughts about if anyone in the show would pull off being the Doctor particularly well.
The obvious choice is of course Zhao Yunlan; canonically time travels, regeneration could be a sci-fi equivalent to reincarnation, general chaos gremlin vibes, likes sticking things in his mouth yes I'm imagining 13 eating soil rn, quick thinking and loves a puzzle. Kunlun could be his version of 'Doctor' and Zhao Yunlan his version of 'John Smith' when he tries to go undercover.
However, I then got to thinking about Shen Wei. His wardrobe is definitely a much better match for the Doctor but he's not so obviously chaotic. But he is an alien, he's at least 10000 years old, his Dixing power is learning which is perfect, he's literally a professor (like the Doctor) and enjoys teaching (twelve comes to mind), he's into science and has accumulated random detailed knowledge about other things (eg. Bears) whilst remaining somewhat awkward socially, doesn't necessarily entirely vibe with others of his kind, has lots of secrets and is not always very good at lying. Likes to suffer in silence and not fcking tell anyone. He may not be full of chaos like thirteen but he has the vibes of nine or twelve where there's something not entirely human about him.
Another thing I found very interesting though is the potential for Ye Zun to be the Master to Shen Wei's Doctor. Because I like pain. The relationship between them two in DW canon is fascinating, just imagine if they were actually siblings.* The intense 'I want to kill you' vs 'I want to be you' vs 'I want you to like me' desire that's constantly warring away inside the Master. The Master loves the Doctor but feels like they've been abandoned by them, is that not Ye Zun? The desire for power and mayhem but also maybe just wanting attention from a certain person.
Also, if Shen Wei is the Doctor then Zhao Yunlan gets to be the companion and depending which level of angst I can cope with on the day, I've decided on two options.
Novel vibes: Zhao Yunlan as Donna Noble, something happens during their travels together that results in Shen Wei having to remove all of Zhao Yunlan's memories of him and their adventures together and Shen Wei has to stay away and never return or run the risk of Zhao Yunlan's brain permanently breaking. An even more extreme version of Shen Wei having to stay away from Kunlun's reincarnations because there's no chance of Zhao Yunlan coming back in this world. I'm not being entirely evil though because the 60th anniversary clips we've seen imply there is hopefully a way to fix this problem so there could still be a happy ending!
Show vibes: instead of sacrificing his soul to a lantern how about Zhao Yunlan does a Rose and stares into the TARDIS and only almost dies. If there's a way to somehow combine this with Rose using the power to bring Jack back to life and accidentally making him immortal then ta da! a never dying Zhao Yunlan to go with Shen Wei the time lord! Winners all around!
Final point i promise:
The TARDIS is called the ghost monument at one point, is that not a fitting name for a ghost king's spaceship?
#guardian#fan art#hand embroidery#kunlun#shen wei#TARDIS#guardianbingofest#zhenhun#i went for a specific Style. I'm not saying I pulled it off but we're here now.#Zhao Yunlan my love and his chaotic sitting was headache inducing#i promised some fills i did not promise they would be high quality or not incredibly niche#look the target audience for this is me and me alone#if you read the read more and decide to write a dw crossover/au pls hmu with the link#mutterings into the void#*feel like i need to add a disclaimer that i Do Not ship the master and doctor so I am not going for those vibes here#basically i peaked with the first two fills it's just downhill from there now#twabbbiih made a thing

What would the avengers think if they saw x-force beast?
"They would think, 'hm, Beast is looking as blue as ever,' and continue on their merry way. I wouldn't be a very good director of an intelligence agency if I just left my dirty laundry on the washing line where everyone could see it, now, would I?"
"'Ah, but Beast,' you might be thinking, 'what if one of your cohort decides to tattle on you? What if Marvel Girl or Wolverine decide to start talking?'"
"How does that conversation go again? No, please, tell me. I'd be delighted to imagine them trying to tip toe around the fact that they were morally outraged at what they know I've put into motion to keep Krakoa safe - but not outraged enough to actually stop me. A telekinetic hold here, a punch to the gut there, oh, how impressive, how masculine, how very girlboss, as your trite slang goes."
"But it didn't change anything, did it? They still turned up to the Pointe. They still accepted their mission briefings. They still went out into the field, and accepted my orders. They can spite me all they like, they can bitch and moan and complain and disobey my direct orders, but at the end of the day, I am still the Director, and they are nothing but an employee with an axe to grind."
"'Well, you see, Captain America, Beast killed the entirety of Terra Verde, and I've really got my knickers in a twist about it.' 'Stars and stripes, Wolverine, how do you know that?' 'I've known he did it for months now and didn't tell anyone because it achieved long term stability for my fledgling mutant nation that I didn't want to endanger. The only reason I'm telling you now is because he did something that affects me.'"
"Somehow, I think not. My secrets are safe."
Well, yeah, this is one of those things where it depends on how much the Avengers actually know, and I'm kind of inclined to believe they don't know much outside of rumours. Reed Richards makes mention of having heard that Beast is doing weird, fucked up shit with genetics when he meets Rasputin IV, but he clearly doesn't know the full extent of what he's done or he'd, you know. Do something about it.
At least, I fucking hope he would, he's meant to be a goddamn fucking superhero, isn't he?
But if they knew? Well, for simplicity's sake, let's take the core Avengers team at the moment. Captain Marvel, Captain America (Sam Wilson), Thor, Black Panther, Iron Man, Scarlet Witch, and the Vision.
Beast has been on an Avengers team with literally every single one of these people at some point in their lives, though, iirc, T'Challa was the Illuminati - he and Hank were on the team at the same time for a bit around the #160s mark, but BP wasn't on the mainline Avengers much during that period from what I recall.
Even Tony and T'Challa, who know that Hank has the capability to conceptualise weapons of mass destruction and untold devastation, would not be prepared for X-Force Beast.
This is the Beast they know.
Meanwhile, X-Force Beast would yank that detonator out of Reed's hands, set it off, and not so much as blink. That is fundamentally not the same person.
First reaction? That's not Beast. That's mind control, or a brain parasite, or a clone, or Dark Beast, again. There's no way. There's LITERALLY no way that they buy it at first. No fucking way do they believe that's the same man who was hanging out with Simon, getting tanked and being homoerotic with.
But once it's established that this is actually Beast, I think they'd just be horrified. They would be devastated. This would be an incredible betrayal, especially for Wanda, Carol and Vizh, who Hank used to have a fairly strong relationship with - fucking, Hank helped Vision wash dishes after inviting him into their quant suburban New Jersey home when they were married to Wanda, I think Vision might well be the one who finds it hardest to understand.
It's a little understated, but Hank has a 'you annoy the living fuck out of me,' 'ah, but I do it so well!' friendship with Vision in those classic issues of Avengers, which is kind of hilarious because of how well he gets on with Simon but not the synthezoid who shares their brainwaves, go figure. And especially once you understand that the Vision absolutely does feel, just in that Vulcan way where they feel so much they have to suppress it and act as if they don't feel at all, I honestly think they might be the most indignant.
The Vision was created by Ultron for destruction, and they rose above it. Hank had a loving family, plenty of chances, and this is what he's become? They'd be furious, I think. I don't know if they'd be furious enough to actually try and kill him, but especially if it's established how dangerous and how bloodthirsty and cruel Beast is, on a whim, it'd be . . . hard to resist.
I do think that in the end, they'd bring him in alive, try and get him brought to justice. This is the kind of thing that, even if Krakoa weren't bombed to fuck right now, they'd dig their heels in and be like, no, you fucking answer for this, because this is personal. This is a betrayal of the team going back years. What the hell happened?
A smart writer would mirror this moment.
Maybe with Jarvis or Carol, instead of Simon - Simon's reaction to this, to find out what happened, has to be its own separate issue, honestly - but it'd be a fun callback, for people who know their Avengers history.
Man, Jarvis . . . fuck. That one would hit. That one would be a fucking train to the face in terms of how it'd hit. How did Hank go from curing Jarvis from a disease in Avengers #650 something, to killing a country just half a year later? I feel like they would just be desolated, like a part of their heart just got carved out and stamped on, because this team loves Hank.
But then again, I was told the same thing about the X-Men, and they've been treating him like goddamn shit on their shoe for years, so who knows, maybe they'd be just as blasé as the X-Men have been about it all.
