#CherCher reviews manhwa: the other one

I always aim to enjoy the manhwa I find, be it through favourite tropes or recommendations from others. But sometimes it just doesn’t work out. And it felt kind of weird to group these together in the recommendations list so I decided to make a separate one for those that I ended up not quite liking, or even DNF-ed.

Of course, preferences are subjective so what didn’t work out for me might not be the same for someone else. Honestly, sometimes I’ve found books I enjoy through other people’s DNFs. Also, sometimes certain series start out slow and get better later on so this is also for me to keep track of some I might want to go back to in the future. Maybe.

So this is the list of meh to total DNF.

I totally DNF-ed these  Some might get a second attempt if I ever run out of other manhwa (lol) or if someone tells me a spoiler that compels me to pick up the title again. Many are totally not my thing, too boring or I read up on spoilers and I didn’t like where it was going/the ending. Not gonna even take the time to write a whole post for these so I’ll just hide them behind the cut.

A Match made in Mana Crimson Karma Ironically, would have preferred this if they focused more on the FL’s character development and less on the romance, which felt a bit too forced and fast-paced. Wish it had developed better because I don’t mind the dynamic of the main pairing. Dragon Raising Manual I actually quite like the main pairing but didn’t really enjoy where the plot was going.  Kill the Villainess I enjoy the isekaied-person-just-wants-to-unalive-to-escape premise but the actual plot was just really boring so I didn’t want to continue. Little Rabbit and the Big Bad Leopard Marriage and Sword Just got bored. My BFF is a Tyrant in Training It just...got really boring My Boyfriend is a God Read because it’s on Manta. ngl, kinda cringe instead of funny.  My Dear Maid! Another one from Manta. Got so bored and I have no interest in the main couple. From spoilers I’ve seen on Reddit, it got a really rushed ending after being cancelled so yikes. My Hubby is Too Cute! I don’t mind a cliche but it wasn’t interesting enough. Also the mature-brain-in-a-kid’s-body FL started drooling over the ML’s dad abs and like that’s a nope from me dawg.  No More Turning a Blind Eye Love a good revenge-on-the-cheating-husband plot but, again, boring, and kind of dumb The Evil Cinderella needs a Villain [ complete] From what I remember, this was just dumb. And not in an entertaining way. The Fake Lady and her Rabbit Duke The Tyrant Husband has Changed The Tyrant’s Secret Secretary The Villainess Needs her Tyrant Once again, love a good revenge plot. But the 2 leads were crazy, not in a very attractive way, and even with the official translations I didn’t understand wtf they were thinking. Also the faces were just forever =.= Love a good yandere but this was just boring.

Lol, imagine this : cosmic horror AU

The Noise would be the charismatic TV host of chaos, hosting his mysterious show, his public would be the souls of the damned, and his audience would be random people who watched TV at the wrong time and at the wrong place, they are the unsuspected victimes of The Noise's game, a game starting as simple challenges and slowly turning into psychological torture, he'd be narrating your moves like a sports narrator you hear on TV, if you survive those challenges, you'll go back to your life... But you'll never be the same... If you fail, you'll be part of The Noise's audience... forever. Ooooh this is so edgy I love it >:)

Appearance wise it'd just be Cosmic Noise in a less cartoony style with half of his face skin missing revealing a second row of teeth on top of his current teeth (you know like you see in children skull X rays) it's gross, it's creepy, I love it

As for Peppino he'd be the Great Primal Cosmic chef, creating every level of existence from his mighty pizza oven, and blessing humanity with the art of cooking and the Holy Book of Recipe. His words are of unmatched wisdom (and loudness) but are somehow of common comprehension, his presence is overwhelming and yet somehow comforting, he's so calm and so unstable at the same time, he creates in love and in wrath. Peppino is a contradicting deity and his authority is often challenged, his existence only been reduced to fairytales (so yeah basically Italian Arceus). Despite having an age beyond compression, his omnipotence and omniscience and his status as the Cosmic chef, he's one of the most human cosmic entity of them all, experiencing feelings like loneliness, stress and fear. He combats those feelings by cooking, pretty much being a workaholic, it kinda works but he's still pretty lonely.

Appearance wise he'd be cosmic pep in less cartoony style but absurdly huge, like no matter how you tilte your head up you'd only see the beginning of his collar at best, basically being like miss Bellum. And if somehow you manage to get around head level he'd cover his face with a pan, if you're mortal it's because you'd burn if you see his face and if not it's because he doesn't want you to see his disfigured face he got after a cosmic battle with The Noise. He'd be translucent, his body is marbled with scars of past fights, and his overall color palette would be a lot more cooler and darker with his apron and chef hat being the only bright thing on his body.

Yes it's absurd, yes Peppino is God in this AU, yes I made my favorite character into an OP being, yes I'm being a kid. It's meant to be edgy and it will.

THE FAKER is a shapeless dark entity, with infinite amount of faker faces on its body, it hides itself inside a ticket stand where it waits for unsuspected victimes, if you go to the ticket stand and ask for a ticket, a voice will invite you inside, wether or not you accept the invitation, a hand will drag you inside, your body will slowly be assimilated, your mind shifts into one that isn't your own, you feel like you don't know who you are, you feel cold, but one thing is for sure, you have to be so big, strong and mighty to the point you'll rival the might of the Cosmic chef. So yeah basically here it's the thing who wants to be a god.

Okay I'm done with my trip, obviously it's not canon in anyway and it's just my inner kid (and idiot) expressing itself. It doesn't have much of any link with True cosmic, only vaguely taking some of its ideas and exaggerating them to make them sound creepy. I really love horror in general and since Cosmic Au is already absurd I just want to push it to the max and make it an edgy and angst mess. I'd probably design it someday but I already have so much to do ! You know what, to anyone who managed to read this far, I challenge you into drawing those characters using the description I wrote.

If this post gets some people interested maybe I'll do the rest of the cast...

A/n: i Got a bit carried away with this one I think lol. Word meanings: aureate-golden or brilliant; panacea-a solution or remedy for all difficulties. This isn’t proofread either 💀

The chain made their way through the woods in another unknown land—but it wouldn’t go unknown for long. The woods started to look familiar—and everything started to sound familiar… the smells, the aura—everything was beginning to come back to tue ranch hand. He was home.

“I know this place! This is the Ordon woods! And just through here…” he led the group as they broke through the trees and into a clearing. Down that pathway was his house, just to the left. “And this, gentlemen, is Ordon Village. My home. And here’s my house..!” He ran over to the front of it. “Get ready to meet the best person in my life…”

“And here we all thought that was the champion..” four nudged wind, who laughed along with a few of the others.

“No, no—this is different. This is the love of my life….” He said dreamily.

“You didn’t tell us you had a special someone..!” Wars smiled.

“That’s intentional. You all made bets about Malon.” He laughed. “Hey y/n!!!!” He called up and you came running out. “Link!!!!!” You hurriedly slid down the ladder of your shared home and nearly tackled him in a hug. “Ofh—“ he said from the force of the impact and wrapped his arms around you tightly. “Hey, sweetheart…” he mumbled into your shoulder.

“Hey??” You broke away a bit. “You’ve been gone for months and all I get is hey???”

The other links’ eyes widened and they averted their gaze to look inconspicuous—but make no mistake; these messy boys were listening in well to the drama.

“Sorry, darlin—I had no way to contact you and leaving was so sudden—I’ll explain it all inside, don’t worry…” he kissed your cheek and you all went inside.

Once inside you turned to him with your arms crossed, expecting an answer, and wanting it quickly.

“Okay, okay. So, to explain this, some introductions are in order… y/n, my love; these are the other heroes of courage… you already know our name..” he smiled softly. “I left so abruptly and I didn’t mean to. I wouldn’t’ve had I known how long I’d be gone… you know I’d never hurt you intentionally, right..?” When you said nothing, he got concerned and walked up to you, placing his hands on your hips and looking at you with his head tilted and sadness in his eyes. “Right, baby?”

Finally, you nodded with tears in your eyes. “Yes… yes, i know, but that doesn’t mean I’m not upset.” You turn your head away from him, glad he was shielding you from the others’ gaze. He took note of the need for a bit of privacy and led you into another room so you two could speak on your own. “I get you Didn’t mean to be gone for so long and didn’t realize you would, but it doesn’t negate the fact you didn’t tell me at all… of course you don’t have to tell me everywhere you’re going, I’m not saying that—what I’m saying is—“

“I know what you’re saying, darlin. You don’t have to tell me at all…” he pulled you into another tight hug and a few of your tears seeped into his tunic. He kissed your hair and took a deep breath of the smell he missed for a long time. You. He missed you all around—how you smelled, the way you walked, spoke—you comforted him and he missed that comfort, he longed for it the entire time he was away from you. No matter what time he was in, he watched the moon and knew that someday in the future or past, you were doing the same thing. He drew comfort from that small fact. It helped him get through many tough battles. Just knowing that he had to get home to you helped him pull through. He had to—just so he could see you dance through the kitchen to a song you were singing on your own, or listen to you laugh at something he was doing… the thought of you brought him through so many tough things… he can’t believe he put you through this, but there was no use on dwelling on it now. It was over with. Now he could make it right. “How do i make it up to you… Hm?” He dipped down a bit to see you. Your eyes we screwed shut. “Hey… lemme see your eyes, darlin… look at me, wontchu?”

You opened your bleary eyes and looked at him pitifully. He frowned and kissed your forehead. “’m sorry, beautiful. I didn’t mean to put you through all that worryin’. But I’m home now… I’ll see if we can spend a bit here, Alright?”

You nodded and hugged him tight. Of course when he asked, Time agreed to let the group spend some time there. That night everyone had fun getting to know each other, and the group loved you. They could all see why twilight fell for you—you, with your kind eyes and welcoming smile that brightened up every room you walked into. The way you spoke, not only of him but of everything, as if it were aureate in nature. And he looked at you like you were a panacea—the solution to all of his problems. And to him, you were. You could take it all away with a kiss…

That night, after the others went to the inn, you and twilight went to bed. You were snuggled to his side, resting your head on his shoulder and your hand on his chest with your eyes gently closed. “I really missed you.. i Didn’t mean to blow up on you like I did…”

“Oh, it’s nothin, sweetheart…. Really…” he kissed your head. “I know I was gone for too long… and I hate to say it won’t be the last time…. But as soon as everyone else is home and we find the end of whatever’s trying to hunt us down, I swear I’m coming right back home to you…” he tilted your head up and kissed you—something he’d been wanting to do since the moment he saw you again, but just couldn’t find a long enough time alone… he pulled away after a few seconds. “We’ll just enjoy right now, though, hm?” He smiled at you as you nodded with sleepy, half lidded eyes looking up at him. He could look at you all night… he laughed softly. “Goodnight, baby…”

“Goodnight…” you said back and he turned to turn off the lantern by the bed, the two of you going to sleep soundly and by each others side for the first night in months.

Today, the official servamp account made a tweet in celebration of Otogiri’s birthday on the 28th of September! Her favorite food is soba and she does karate for a hobby!

Under the cut I have some headcanons of my own for her, so please enjoy!

This one is my favorite and it’s that whenever Sakuya needs to have a teacher meet with his guardian she goes along with Tsubaki and they act super annoying to embarrass him lol. Like she dotes on him and calls him goofy pet names and pinches his cheek. On the occasions where he’s in trouble for something Team M view as justified, though, she puts on a face of “our perfect little angle? No, never, you must be mistaken”

This is still somewhat humiliating to Sakuya. She loves teasing him in her own way. Makes her miss Johannes.

Speaking of Johannes as kids he used to cut the hair off her dolls or tear their heads off. It’s fine she’d tie him to a tree with her jump rope and leave him there.

Karate was actually a hobby she picked up as a child for self defense purposes. She continues with it because it’s good to help her destress, especially when doing her forms. Something about the rhythm of them helps her clear her mind

She writes fan fiction and will die if anyone finds her ao3 account

I headcanon her, personally, as wlw (not sure what flavor though. Just in general) A major part of this is because she’s the only female member of the cast you can gift chocolate to during the valentine’s event at TanakaBox! I’ll put a link to the event translation in a reblog later

Because she’s so busty, she has a fair bit of problems buying bras she likes that don’t cost an arm and a leg. Living with Tsubaki and working for him means money is no object, of course, but it’s the principle of it. Belkia surprises her once with a custom replica of Madonna’s cone bra corset in bedazzled hot pink. She needed to take several moments.

She did in fact try the whole thing on for him. She felt ridiculous. She also loved how silly the whole affair was. Far too often people get weird about the size of her chest and it makes her so uncomfortable, but with team M… It’s just another body part. She can relax around them

Speaking of people being weird about her body, this is a headcanon Yarra told me that I loved so much I adopted it immediately. She used to go out late at night into seedier parts of Tokyo trying to find men who would start trying to feel her up or force the issue after she rejected their advances, so that she could kill them without feeling guilty, using them as proxies for the doctor who assaulted her. This was not actually a healthy way to cope.

She wants to do a soba tour. Just go around the country trying all different types of soba. One day she wishes to be able to boast she’s had every soba from every restaurant in japan. For now she’s working her way through Tokyo. She’s a subclass so she has all the time in the world to do it.

The entire hotel is (was) outfitted with her strings. They kind of acted as an early warning system. It’s a strange kind of magic that doesn’t seem to have much limits in the way of distance so long as the space she’s in is enclosed.

During holiday seasons, especially Halloween, Christmas, or New Years, these become places for decorations to be hung.

She truly cherishes everything Tsubaki has done for her. The one regret she has about being a subclass is that she had to kill herself for the chance to meet so many wonderful people. She thinks if she’d had anything remotely close to this while human, she would have found the strength to keep living.

They’re her family. Someday, she hopes Hansel can also be part of it again.

Smiling Critters: Non Lore-Heavy Headcanons!

This is just what I personally think they'd be like in my AU, if you guys have different interpretations, that's fine!

(I could also do scenarios based on the headcanons too if you guys wish! )

Kickin would 100% call his friends a specific nickname. It's his way of approving that they're cool to him. He barely calls them by their actual name unless the situation is serious. Here is what he'd call everyone:

Bubba = Nerd (in the most affectionate way possible here); Can also imagine Kickin calling him sir or mister sometimes

Bobby = Beary or BB (may or may not be based off of content I've seen with these nicknames for her-)

Hoppy = Hopscotch (calls her by last name because he thinks it's cool already; Hoppy would use that logic against him and call him Chicken occasionally); He also likes to call her Hops for short

CatNap = Sleepyhead, Sleeping Beauty

DogDay = Mr. Brightside, DD

Crafty = Princess (that would probably freak Crafty out since she thinks he knows of her status; in reality, he calls her this because of her vibes, especially after a certain scenario I have planned for her)

Picky = Piggy (doesn't really have any other idea for a nickname, but he wants to come up with one that sounds "more cool"; tried this by calling her PP, but didn't realize how bad it was until the first and only time he used it for her)

Kickin would call himself KC, since y'know, he wants everyone to know he's cool, too! (credits to mr. story for the idea)

2. Crafty has a very good singing voice. She doesn't show it off for a couple reasons though:

Because she's a little shy about showing it off in the first place

Doesn't want to overpower her friends if they sing together

She's worried her friends will find a way to link her voice to her background (will discuss more in a future post)

(Based off a voice canon video I saw for her where her singing voice was based off of Fluttershy's from "Filli Vanilli")

3. When Picky isn't cooking or eating, she likes to dance and tend to her personal garden. It's filled with fresh fruits and vegetables, but she also has some flowers and shrubs, too! She likes to use products from her garden for her cooking sometimes.

4. CatNap's house smells like all kinds of specific essential oils. He is the one who uses them the most of the Critters, which helps set the atmosphere for his calming home.

5. I already mentioned before that Crafty can never keep her clothes clean for the whole day. But she really likes her overall dresses, so she keeps a lot of the same ones just in case one of them gets too messy.

6. Kickin is great with comebacks and wordplay. Even in the toughest of situations, he usually pieces together slick phrases. The only exceptions are if he were to start like-liking someone or if he had an idol he admired. He'd get more nervous and fumble his words by that point.

7. Here is what I like to think the Critters want to be when they become adults (they're still children in this AU):

CatNap (counselor; something to do with aromatherapy too most likely)

DogDay (doesn't know; he hasn't thought about it)

Bobby (nurse or maybe a therapist)

Crafty (artist of course; may be more inclined to be a painter)

Kickin (journalist or reporter?; I can see him commentating on things like sports and current events lol)

Hoppy (soccer player or coach)

Bubba (professor, but not sure of which subject rn)

Picky (chef, no surprise there. She wishes to run her own restaurant someday)

8. Inspired by some comics, but CatNap's tail can extend to really long lengths. His friends use this as an advantage to drag him along or hold onto him when he's not aware of his surroundings or he's asleep. His tail can only extend to so long though (maybe four-five feet?) so eventually it can get pulled. He doesn't like that. His friends realize this the hard way, and from that point forward, they tend to drag him along their adventures in a wagon. Typically DogDay is the one to watch over the wagon.

9. In contrast to CatNap, DogDay is much more nervous during the nighttime. He tries to hide this to not worry his friends, but they can usually see through him. He doesn't exactly get the best sleep all the time, yet he still manages to operate smoothly for his friends (maybe through coffee? I can see him drinking that-)

10. Possible fears of all the Critters

Bobby (being alone and abandoned, canon; can also see her fearing bugs too, but she can't bring herself to kill them since she loves and values all life regardless)

Picky (sickness, a part of this plays into her need to stick to a healthy lifestyle, and she stresses out whenever she feels she made too many unhealthy choices; she also hates being sick because then she can't provide for her friends)

Kickin (sudden noise and heights; he would try to hide this to keep his cool image, so he brushes off his fears so others can't see it from the outside. However, on the inside and sometimes more obviously the outside, he is TERRIFIED)

Bubba (failing his friends and leading them down the wrong direction; tries to prevent this from happening by being as well-informed on as many topics as he can think)

DogDay (the dark; he always needs a nightlight in his room so he can go to sleep better)

CatNap (his second scent; more elaboration on that sometime soon but if you know what I'm referring to, you know...; can also seem him fearing water a little since y'know, cat behavior-)

Hoppy (needles; I just don't see her holding up well at the doctor's personally-)

Crafty (public audience; she can only handle so many people watching her at once until she feels she needs to get out)

11. People would expect Bubba and Crafty to constantly be at odds due to their different thinking approaches (left brain + right brain), but they actually get along quite well! They may have a couple disagreements, but otherwise they are usually open to what the other is saying. Basically, an "I want what you have" kind of situation but downplayed. Mainly since Bubba isn't as good with thinking outside of the box meanwhile Crafty isn't the most book smart. They would bounce off each other well. They would work well together when it comes to devising plans with their friends. Bubba would explain the plan while Crafty sketches the plan's details.

12. Crafty can draw at fast speeds, but she can't draw anything super detailed. Still, she is surprised herself that it doesn't look too bad when she rushed it.

13. Speaking of speed, Hoppy can, in addition to moving fast, speak fast and somehow still remember what she says. When others don't process what she says, she would be a bit more annoyed and say it slower. She doesn't speak fast often, only in situations where she is really enthusiastic or she's in a panic.

14. In terms of their more animal-like qualities, DogDay is the most expressive of the Critters. He wags his tail and raises his ears a lot depending on the circumstance.

15. Bobby can have very bad anxiety in stressful situations. Worse case scenario, she may even just ball up and become unresponsive to stimuli.

16. PB&Js are still Picky's favorite food, but she eats them in moderation when she's felt good on what she ate for the rest of the day. She will refuse to eat them when she's stressed or if she gets sick. She gets like this with any unhealthy food in general actually, just more inclined to do it with PB&Js.

17. (Based on that road trip image of them) They're all kids, but in their world, they're able to drive. Still, there are some Critters you should trust behind the wheel more than others:

Bubba (not only would he be safe on the road, but his great memory basically makes him a walking GPS, assuring an instant trip to their destination without getting lost; despite this, it's usually #2 who drives more because he's usually tasked as the voice of reason to make sure no one riots while someone is behind the wheel; he also slightly manages his memory better when he isn't multitasking)

DogDay (is usually the one that drives everyone when they're out on road trips. He is generally very calm behind the wheel and will encourage others on the way to wherever they're going, so he's also considered fun to have as the driver by his friends)

Picky and Bobby (tied; both would do just fine behind the wheel and would both be careful of the cars around them and the passengers in the car; would give Picky the edge here though since she doesn't have to raise her seat as much just to drive compared to Bobby)

CatNap (he would be better during night time trips as he is more active then, but even then it wouldn't happen often since driving can get stressful. Also, at any other time besides night, he runs the risk of sleeping on the spot even while driving, so no, please don't let him drive…) (ngl, him and #7 could be interchangeable here; both have drawbacks whenever they're behind the wheel-)

Crafty (she's pretty mediocre when it comes to driving. Her mind usually spirals in a panic whenever she's behind the wheel, and she'd focus more on the panic of driving at all than actually driving, so for her sanity, don't let her drive...)

Hoppy (never, EVER have her behind the wheel. The car will crash and burn in seconds... She can get really impulsive when it comes to driving and I can imagine her having some bad road rage; the Critters let her drive once after she pleaded with them so many times; probably in a situation where for some reason DogDay and/or Bubba couldn't do it. She led them in a ditch, crashing into someone's party down below, unintentionally of course. Everyone was okay, but they never let her drive again after that)

18. In addition to wanting to be the cool friend, I can also imagine Kickin wanting to joke around and make his friends laugh from time to time. He also pulls harmless pranks sometimes (sometimes he is unaware how his pranks potentially hurt others until it's too late though-)

19. Bobby has a really big sweet tooth. Especially when it comes to chocolate. Also, if anyone were to give her a chocolate heart, she would melt in their arms on the spot (doesn't matter if the intention is platonic or romantic, she just loves receiving chocolates, especially the hearts)

20. Hoppy would have the most game equipment of her friends. She has equipment that ranges across all kinds of sports as well as other physical activities.

21. If Crafty was given sidewalk chalk and there was pavement outside of her friends' houses (though I don't think this is the case in canon sadly), she would use it to draw something outside her friends' houses as a way to show appreciation.

22. Bubba would have his own mini library inside his house will all different genres of books. The books of this library are books he collected that were from his family's or from what he found when they were out and about. He occasionally lets his friends borrow books from him if they need to.

23. The Critters are vegan. Things like burgers and milk come from other sources for them. So no worries, in this version, the burger Picky was about to eat in the intro was sourced from plants (she wouldn't actually eat animals... right? *cough cough* canon version... *cough)

24. CatNap would be the best at telling spooky stories. He already has a naturally quiet voice. All he'd need to do to make it sound more spoopy for his friends is give it a creepy tone, and already that makes him a good scary storyteller...

25. DogDay doesn't really make his own food often, but he actually does like baking more than people give him credit for. His favorite thing to bake is cookies (especially ones that look like dog treats!)

27. CatNap has the worst reaction time and is the most clumsy of the Critters. It's literally canon that the guy trips on his own tail. That HAS to be a thing here. It just has to.

This may come as a surprise, but CatNap actually does like drinking coffee, except he mainly has it at nighttime so he can stay up and help people in need of assistance at nighttime; he puts a lot of creamer and milk in his coffee, though- He doesn't like black cofffee (I imagine in the McDonalds meme he takes the coffee home with him and prepares it with his usual creamer and milk)

Welp, this is pretty long and scrambled. Sorry if some characters have more headcanons than others. If I think of other hcs I can update this! I do actually have more I'd like to share sometime, but the ones I'm thinking about are more lore-heavy for the characters so I'll put that in a separate post :)

Reading spica and about how much Ai wanted a family, specifically twins, sometimes I think about is if she never got into a relationship, how would that have worked...would this girl have gone and adopted twins lol

But even if she only had one child, knowing Ai she would've cherished and spoiled them just as much (still makes me wonder about her reaction from I want twins -> I got one child) Maybe get another sibling for this child...possibilities are so endless, I have an unhealthy amount of obsession over this lovable, amazing character...HELP

I'm going to be fully honest and admit that. i. don't really take anything from the spica epilogue into account when aiposting LSKKNSKSJS. In general, Spica falls flat for me in most regards but the OMG WOULDN'T IT BE CRAAAAZY IF I HAD TWINS SOMEDAY thing is just so hamfisted and so transparently leaning on pre-existing emotional setup from the series it did not earn that I just cannot take it on board as organic, additive characterization LOL. Especially because this idea that Ai always wanted twins/to be a mother full stop… idk it's hard to explain, but it feels kind of gross and in line with the weird misogynistic way Spica handles all the other women, too. I think Oshi no Ko handles Ai's r/s with motherhood in a way I think is really warm and lovely and nuanced but Spica is so shallow it ends up with this really "well of COURSE she wants babies because she's a girl ^_^" ass take on things. KDKSJSSNA SORRY, ANYWAY…. THAT WAS SO NOT WHAT YOU ASKED I'M JUST A HATER

Anyway, the timing of me finally getting around to this ask is funny because I've had second-time mom Ai as a concept on my brain lately… Aqua and Ruby kind of Happened to her and she found an incredible amount of fulfillment in loving and being loved by them, so it's interesting to imagine what a second/planned pregnancy would be like for an older Ai…

I definitely think she would need to be in a long term, committed and happy relationship with someone for it to happen, just because she's so caught up in being Aqua and Ruby's mom that I don't think it would really enter her brain otherwise. But like she says in episode 1, motherhood is so much about creating family and joy for herself and the people she loves and for herself that I do think that if she ever found a second love and they were happy together and in a position to make it happen, she'd want to take that to the logical extent of them having their own kid together. A big family is a happy, busy one, right?

The idea of her adopting a kid is also super interesting… we were chatting about something unrelated on the OnK Brainrot discord when a link was made between Ai being a foster system kid abandoned by her family and Aqua and Ruby being essentially orphaned by her death and it kind of made a little !!! ping in my brain lol. As I've interpreted her, an adult Ai is one who has extremely strong feelings about the responsibility of adults to care for and protect children which leads to her being generally big sisterly/motherly towards kids and teens because she wants to be the kind of adult who was never in her own life. But for some reason, I'd never actually followed that thought through to the idea of her adopting a kid… it's a neat idea though and I think you could do some interesting digging into her own feelings as a kid left behind in the system.

Drabble: Tommy being accidentally hurt by one of the guys (like fingers between the door). They feel sorry for tommy’s pain and panic because he doesnt know what he did wrong.

This is not a bad idea at all, BUT - I think you are giving too much credit to the guys, lol. I should really include more of them bc I know I haven't explained hardly anything but, here's some lore dump I might someday figure out a way to wiggle in.

"Michelle" (Micheal, pronounced the french way, he is french-canadian) founded the business. Like many other kids on the internet, he stumbled across some rough sites with beheading videos and other shock factor stuff. Micheal was fascinated and started seeking them out, learning how to get into the deep web and exploring black market and black media sites.

Got a job at a Best Buy in Quebec, moved to IT, held off on the deep web shit for a while after a security scare. But he knew the kind of money people were making on the black market for way less work than he was doing, as long as they were willing to accept the risks. He got burnt out on working in a handful of years. Saw what other people were doing and came up with the first iteration of the business.

He and Rory met at an unrelated conference, but ended up partying and realized they kinda matched each other's freak. Micheal hated customer service and being the face, but Rory was great at it and had his own sadistic appetites. Michael shared the business idea but was still unsure about a lot of the factors, and luckily Rory knew exactly who they needed.

Rory and Caius worked at the same insurance agency, and had kinda picked up on each other's vibes after a little while working together. Both are unstable, but when one was out of control the other was good at talking them down, and vice versa. Rory had also bent an ear to Caius's relationship woes - (insert Homer Simpson crying "why does everything I whip leave me?!?!) lol. So they formed their little dream team.

Rory and Micheal seem a lot more hands off bc I don't spend hardly any time on their work, but they are no saints. Editing videos of Tommy to send to an encrypted paid subscription, creating ads, following viral darkweb trends, manually finding and targeting users with violent interests and deep wallets, you name it. Micheal stays up on security as well, but this work was his idea in the first place, he's pretty happy.

I spend less time on them because...

I have no idea how the dark web or online black market works and I am terrible with technology

I don't have the characters fleshed out as much, but that's doable to fix

I worry it is less interesting than the more direct whump between Caius and Tommy, as well as clients. But I'd like to work them in more, plan some chapters where they shoot "ads" with Tommy to take advantage of trends, and expand the universe a little bit with the other "entrepreneurs" they meet and how they link up with clients. I want to expand into them also taking video requests for stuff Caius can do to Tommy.

I absolutely adore the “you are my peace” kind of trope(?) it just hit the spot and I love how you fitted it with Mephistea (and I think it also fits especially well the assassin’s creed franchise main protagonists (and some maybe more than others but I digress) but of course every traumatized/tragic backstory bbg blorbo also fits well within this trope) But omg do I love the way Mephisto looks at Aranea in that post!

For that epiphany of yours : it was brilliant.

For the Hellion Family idea : it’s perfectly chaotic and do you think there would be as much chaos when Cleric!Dottie is first introduced to them ? (I’m talking about everything is on fire in the room and that one guy arriving with pizza level of chaos if you understand the image I’m referring to) Also, can we say that Jacob pestering could also be linked to being the middle child and this seeking more attention ? And is everyone in the Hellion Family comfortable being/going along their day naked ? (And how did Jacob even convinced(seduced really) poor poor Cleric!Dottie to even join the chaos) Maybe someday Jacob would somehow notice how exhausting and taxing his family energy is for Dottie (who was just so trying to escape/hide from some of the chaos) and maybe built a calm safe space just for her (and also hoping to butter her up more to his case lol) I’m also really happy that you could finally tie the quote that inspired the monicker “morning star” to Dottie !

and listen telenovela Hellions Family would be something I would watch religiously cause the chaos is unmatched lol

I also feel that Mephisto would need a really stiff drink to even try to counterbalance the headache his children induced and maybe(hopefully) let him keep his glorious mane intact for a couple of hours before he inevitably needs to spend another eternity on his hair care routine. And I also thought about Mathias and Dottie while listening to the song “Je l’aime à mourrir” by Francis Cabrel and I just thought the lyrics fitted them so well with all the trauma and torment both went through. I can just imagine Dorothea learning guitar in secret and then singing this sweet sweet of a potato Mathias and maybe this could become a song he (and she) could then sing to their children to describe how much love they have form them and each other. I also had a thought about Fedelucia, since she likes to read so much, I thought that Lucia could transmit her love for reading to Petruccio so he could then discover the world in his own way through books. As for the feathers, maybe Lucia helped Petruccio make something out of the feathers Ezio brought him in order to gift them to Maria. If Federico hears about it, he might gift his youngest brother something with an eagle feather, maybe just an eagle feather tailored to write and some paper with a note saying something along the lines “so you can board on your own adventures” and thus maybe inspire Petruccio to write his own stories.

Ngl, the whole "You are my peace" trope, combined with an artwork of my favourite couple soundly asleep in each other's arms is probably, without doubt, my most favourite thing to draw AND write. Combine that with the soothing atmosphere of a nearby lagoon, with the light reflecting onto the water and scattering around, and you got my personal Paradise and safe space, because it honestly helps me calming down a lot, especially during my bout of anxiety, when I cannot keep it under control When I drew that for Mephisto and Aranea ( but truly, for Jottie, Mottie, Ardynia etc. etc.), I just loved to imagine all sort of tender emotions that their black hearts could still feel, at least for one another, because they truly are each other's peace and safe space, when the world outside is just too much to face. And you are right, it fits SO MANY characters from AC as well!

I KNOW, RIGHT??? Like, my brain birth all kind of ideas all the time, but this one actually STRUCK ME LIKE A FREAKING LIGHTINING, BECAUSE HOLY HELL (no pun intended), HOW DID I NOT THINK ABOUT IT FIRST???? Jacob and Dorothea as Cambion and Cleric????

I am still reeling into the thought of it, because it opens up to so many fun/sensual/soft possible scenarios for them! And also, I get to *FINALLY* play Dorothea's more impish and straightforward side - aka, how she would be had she not received a very strict Victorian education from her mama and papa - and let me tell you, she is a toughie. Like, her and Jacob in this whole BG3/DnD AU are the true definition of "Looks like he could kill you: it's a cinnamon roll" (Jacob). "Looks like a cinnamon roll: she could kill you" (Dottie).

And omggg YES.

IT WOULD BE PANDEMONIOUM, WHEN DOTTIE IS BROUGHT DOWN TO CANIA. A WHOLE ASS PANDEMONIOUM. Precisely as the image you were describing lololol, which is why, I think, Jacob would try to steer clear of his family knowing about Dorothea for as long as he could, because OH GODS, he would never hear the end of it, especially from Zaynab and Raphael (to say nothing of Mephisto, though he would be more amused by the fact that his own son is actually following in his steps more than he likes to admit lolol).

AND YES. Nudity is not that big of a deal among the Hellions (the reason being because sometimes I am just too tired to draw them clothed tbh. If I draw them all naked it's because I don't have the energy to draw their overlycomplicated garments lol) but there are varied degrees of nudity they are willing to show, so to speak. Like, Mephisto and Aranea usually are naked when together, but they do not go around Mephistar stark naked all the time. In general, they are all big on seduction and temptation, so they all live up to whatever they imagine would elicit a reaction into the object of their obsession.

BUT YES, IN GENERAL THE HELLIONS' FAMILY IS NOT BIG ON CLOTHING LOL. (expect when they have special occasion. Then they go the opposite direction and POMPOSITY BECOMES THE KEY WORD). So, yes, I like to imagine that poor Dottie, while equipped with the divine blessing of Lathander, has a hard time actually withstanding all the chaos in Cania, and Jacob would take notice of this and try to create a safe abode for her (which, I like to imagine, was suggested to him by Aranea herself, since it was exactly what Mephisto did for her when he brought her to Cania after she signed his contract), where she can just rest away (and be the victim of Jacob's clumsy attempts to actually seduce her into signing his contract - gods, the man is persistent lol).

AND OMG YES: Jacob's own pestering behaviour DEFINITELY stem (in this AU) from the fact that he literally is the middle child, so he was kinda overseen, what with Raphael's theatrical personality, and Zaynab and Karim being the only children born out of the love Mephisto harboured for Aranea. (good gods, my poor bebe Jacob, I need to draw him a sad cambion blorbo and Dorothea comforting him😭😭😭)

AND YES. I HAD THAT QUOTE HANGING ON MY HEAD EVER SINCE I CREATED THE NOIR!AU (where Dottie is actually a fallen angel), BUT I NEVER GOT THE CHANCE TO USE IT ON SOMETHING THAT I SHARED HERE!! so when I drew the artwork, the other day, I was like OMG YES. THIS WILL BE PERFECT.

HONESTLY. I wish I was faster/the day had more hours/I had more hands/was a better artist to be able to bring more artworks about the Hellions. HECK, I WISH I WAS ABLE TO DO ANIMATION, SO THAT I WOULD MAKE CINEMATIC OF SOME SORTS.

OMG THAT STIFF DRINK, YES.

Poor Mephisto, whenever I think of him, all I can think about is that gif of Scar from the Lion King, because that's his default face whenever his children are around lol

Because despite his children being all adults by now, they are all very childish between themselves, especially the youngest three ( I do headcanon that, while Raphael is supposedely around 5000 years old, given or take, Jacob, Zaynab and Karim (and Azriel as well, if I settle to make her the youngest of Mephistea's children) are much younger and comparatively closer in age (like, I hc that Jacob is around 300 years old, while Zaynab and Karim are around 150 years old), which means that they are the more prone to actually cause trouble. Also, Jacob and Raphael do have a sort of rivarly in terms of who will succeed their father - if ever- so they are constantly stuck in constant competition.

Regarding Mephisto and Aranea sharing their hair care routine to unwind, the answer is YES.

I can definitely imagine Mephisto just sinking into his mattress, while massagging his temples because THE PERSISTENT HEADACHE WON'T LEAVE HIM ALONE.

Cue to Aranea just coming into the room with soft pace and humming and old Zakharan song, bringing all that she needs to just take care of her husband's glorious leonine mane.

And she would gently brush his curls, sometimes humming, sometimes chatting with low voice about all things related to the two of them, so that Mephisto can just unwind and ride out the whole sensory overload that his progeny has caused him with their shenanigans (because between the two of them, I do think that Aranea has a higher threshold of tollerance, compared to Mephisto, so I think she is the one that usually initiate the unwind for him, and once he is anchored back into tranquillity, he takes care of her with naked cuddles and soft love making).

And I’m really excited to meet Ravenna (and to know from what corner of the virtual universe Lucanis comes from too)

I am still in the process of learning Dragon Age lore and whatnot, so for now all I have is just some initial ideas for both Ravenna and Lucanis. BUT. for what I am envisioning for now, she is a spitfire, he is on the quieter side and he is very much his wife lololol Like, I am leaning toward much more sweetness and smluffness, so to speak! I kinda need it, to counterbalance the angst (which, I am sure, will be plentiful once Dragon Age The Veilguard comes out lolol).

ship? i’ve really only seen isafrin and sifloop, and personally i enjoy sloop but like as a weird not romantic but secret 74th option that they invented one afternoon at 11:56am. isafrin is a classic, always chefs kiss. yes very ship very nice very good will read fics of them being dramatically torn apart to the point of insanity. i just like the classic sloop “i fucking despise you wanna cuddle” dynamic. better if loop is human and isabeau is there to break up their arguments. cuz it’s funny

THE LOST COUNTRY yessss i love this thing. a lot of my headcanons revolve around a fic that i thought was really cool that dove deep into its culture (fic here https://archiveofourown.org/works/56032411 i think). some of the things i remember and liked are bonds being expressed through nicknames(im like 85% sure that sif calls them all by nicknames but changes to calling some by full names in the game but i might be delusional so). i just really liked a lot of the culture deep dive in that fic. i also imagine them being rather technologically advanced in comparison to other countries, since like all that knowledge about stars. i think it’s also possible that there were still people who could perceive colour on that island(not majority, maybe like 20% of the population). and y’know how vaugarde is fantasy france? north island is fantasy greenland. just imo

leading off of that- poteria is fantasy america(so. they use fuck as curse :]) and idk what mwudu would be. i think it would be fun though, to have the various countries be fantastical irl countries, and is also supported by evidence with ka bua being fantasy japan. so yeah this is actually canon now.

The wiki says Vaugarde is based on France, Ka Bue is based on Japan, the Forgotten Country is based on Guadeloupe (but insertdisc5 likes seeing other interpretations too), Poteria is based on Italy (which was my headcanon before I even saw it on the wiki lol), and Mwudu isn't really based on anything (I headcanon Germany for some reason, but also not? idk it's complicated, my main Mwudu headcanon is that they have this whole deal with fire). Finding parts for my cosplay is proving to be a huge pain in the ass, right now I'm just settling for "close enough" and I'll try to customize the parts when I get them- Agh the hat is probably the hardest right now ;w; I wonder if they'll let me bring a dagger to my vocational school... Lincoln

* A fun fact about Lincoln’s dinner party look is that you’re never going to see any part of it again because it got ruined by Tony Pepperoni’s blood! He threw it all out

* Lincoln has entered his depression sweatpants era. Tragic. You’ll also notice that both he and Scary stop wearing their friendship bracelets at this point

* I’ve got an extra bullet point so I’ll just talk about my general style guidelines for designing outfits for each of the teens here (excluding Papa John’s/Black Parade looks because Papa John’s they were all given uniforms and Black Parade they were all trying to fit in rather than dress in their own styles) Link’s clothes are obviously sporty, prioritizing comfort and ease of movement over style. Given the choice he would wear his soccer uniform, but he doesn’t really have that choice anymore

Scary

* Maybe the jacket or skirt for Scary’s dinner party look could come back someday, but the shirt got ruined when Link shoved her with his bloody hands so we probably won’t see it again unless she wants to upset him (which is possible lol)

* I love my Scary’s most recent outfit. I wanted to completely change her silhouette, which meant the dress and a big coat, and most notably the braid sorta reminds me of a scorpion tail, just ignore how her hair grows a couple inches to make it work

* Scary’s usual style is obviously dark colours, black, greys, purples, etc. and in the past I liked to keep to very segmented outfits, usually a sorta baggy t-shirt tucked into pants or a skirt, but as mentioned above, I wanted to completely mix up the silhouette, hence the big coat and single piece dress

Normal

* Normal’s been getting back into the Teen High spirit, he isn’t wearing the mascot suit again, but a Teen High hoodie is fair game

* Will’s mentioned Normal’s time at Summer camp a couple times now, so I thought a tie-dye camp shirt would be fitting in this time as he’s trying so hard to play councillor for his friends

* In contrast to Scary, Normal gravitates towards bright colours, and like Link, style is not a priority. I like to put Normal in clothes promoting his interests or things he cares about ie. Teen High hoodie, camp t-shirt, he’s probably got some Swallows Ice Cream merch I’ll put him in at some point

Taylor

* Didn’t Taylor lose that jacket on Earth? Yes, but like a good anime protagonist, he knows the value of iconic costume pieces and has seven of the exact same jacket

* I actually really love Taylor’s little coveralls with all the pockets. I sure would love to draw it. You might also notice that his glasses were briefly fixed upon returning home, but they broke again when Link kicked him in the face through the portal to Hell

* The jacket is a must for Taylor, both because I like it and because it’s his iconic anime protagonist costume. Keeping in line with Taylor’s survivalist thing, he usually sticks to earthy colours, with the exception being the bright yellow shoes which are so colourful to contrast with all the browns and greens. He also probably doesn’t own a shirt that doesn’t have an anime on it

Hermie

* No Hermie fit for the dinner party, he was busy

* I knew I wanted Hermie to wear the mismatched suspenders with one being Mr. Freeze’s ice theme and one being Poison Ivy’s plant theme because he got those characters at the same time in the Undergrove, the rest of the outfit fell into place around that

* Hermie’s style is overdressed nerd attire. Suits, vests, suspenders, I’ve never put him in a shirt that doesn’t have buttons, etc. tbh it’s the kind of outfit pieces that if I was back in highschool and saw a real teenage highschool boy wearing, I would start praying he doesn’t try to talk to me, but then it turns out he’s not wearing a blazer to school because he’s a wannabe business major, he’s just a Joker cosplayer! And that’s definitely worse.

Marshall Merchandise Update! (4-30-24)

You know, I often try to find new ways to open these posts, instead of the usual "it's been a while" and whatnot. I tend to fall back on that anyway, since I'm never sure how to change it up otherwise. So... uh... hey, it's been a while since I've posted one of these, huh?

Guess I'll change it up a little by taking the picture on my desk. You'll get to see most of the little figurines I have around my monitor. Might just give you a peek at other favorite animated characters of mine. :)

First off, this Valentines Day-themed plush! I kept hoping for it to show up at my Walmart, but it never did, strangely enough. I was only able to find it on Amazon. I wonder why?

This plush is actually very similar to five I already own, except Marshall's holding something different, of course. Unlike the other Valentines plush dolls, in which one has him holding a Valentines letter while the other's two hearts linked together, this one has him holding onto a heart with a paw print on it. Pawsome!

I'll admit, I keep hoping they'll branch out and make some based on other holidays and whatnot. How about Marshall or Chase holding a four-leaf clover for St. Patrick's Day? A harvest cornucopia for Thanksgiving? Something for New Year's? Fourth of July? The ideas are there, I dare say. Maybe someday, who knows.

Next up is another plush, which is quite similar to the above, only it's half the size and Easter-themed! Unless I'm mistaken, this is the first time they've made smaller versions of this particular plush style, although the idea itself isn't new to PAW Patrol merchandise. Also like the above plush, I wasn't able to find it in stores, either. It, too was purchased off of Amazon. They also made one of Chase and Skye, and because they wouldn't sell them separately...

... I now own all three. Ah well, that's not so bad. Only one will find a spot on my shelves though... er, eventually. I've been lazy and haven't found a place for the last six items I purchased. Someday, I swear! 😅

Last, but not least, this Marshall squirt gun from "SAMBRO"! This, I believe, is a brand new item that released just this year... and, unless I'm mistaken, it's currently only available in the UK! Yup, it's another imported item! A good friend seen this at one of her stores and knew I'd want it, and since my birthday's coming up soon, she sent it to me as a gift! I've already thanked her, but she'll likely see this post, so I'll say it again. Thank you so much! 😃

That's all for now! From what I've heard, Rescue Wheels merchandise will finally release in the United States around June, so of course, you know I'll have my eyes peeled for those! Then again, I might have to wait a bit, since I've been collecting other things lately (non-PAW Patrol stuff), and that's been taking a chunk of my money. I think I collect a little too much sometimes... but given it's stuff I enjoy a lot, it's all been worth it so far. lol

Hey again.

I was saving this for when I'd wrapped some other stuff up, but it's taking too long. I'm just gonna say it while the words are fresh in my head.

The two-month break I've been on? I think I'm gonna stay on it. As in, stay logged off except on special occasions.

There's still things I want to finish here. I will answer what's left at @ask-the-all-consuming-void and bring it to a proper ending; The Secret Thing it was gonna segue into will go up, even if only as sketches and drafts; And there's another project I'm still helping with behind the scenes. But aside from those… I want to maintain my internet presence a lot less.

I've learned a lot about myself since I left: most importantly the hyper-empathy, compassion fatigue thing, and that being terminally online probably does more harm than help. There's trying to be a good, vigilant person, and then there's overwhelming oneself about things they can't control, with info that isn't always accurate. I've been doing the latter in different ways for years; late April/early May was a big wake-up call. Lesson learned: I've got to find balance, and I won't find it here.

The second-most important thing I learned is that… the reason I "joined" the internet in the first place? It's pretty much been fulfilled. Has been for a few years now, actually.

I made this tumblr in 2015, but I got my real start on deviantART and WordPress in 2011. Don't expect links; what people post in their preteens can stay between them and God lol. But I'll tell you what got me to make accounts: my confusion as a new Sonic fan. The way people talked about them, the way they talked to each other… it hurt to see.

I got it in my preteen head to set a better example. To not let my love for something become disdain for others of its kind. To explain instead of assume. And to assure anyone who'd listen that it's not shameful to like Sonic, that those who do deserve better, and that they could still have it better someday.

And now, 13 years later… we do. The hurtful stuff I saw back then is nearly gone now. When it does pop up, it's easier to counteract than ever. People realize how silly and petty and wrong it was, and can call it out accordingly. People can live a little truer to themselves, now that that shit isn't everywhere anymore.

I think that, specifically, is all I really wanted. Everything else—the reinvigoration of the characters and their world, the downpour in avenues once closed off by "cringe" and "not enough interest"—have been wonderful byproducts. I've been gassing up Sonic Movie 3 as the final step, but it's really more of a victory lap.

After realizing that, I just… don't feel the need to post so much here anymore. My self-worth and sense of morality shouldn't rely on what I do or don't type. I don't need to document every thought or choice I make and why.

The cause I've performed for since middle school no longer needs my time and energy, if it ever even did. I can just enjoy things in relative silence, and spend myself in other ways. Ways I've taken too long to get around.

Sonic Unleashed is what set me down this path. I watched it go from rejected at launch, to just divisive, to respected and beloved. I still wonder if, had it gotten a fairer chance, the current Sonic renaissance could've happened sooner.

But dwelling on that won't change anything. I'd rather dwell on how, this year, I got to scream Endless Possibility with hundreds of other people, loudly and proudly. No fear of who's watching, no need to self-sabotage. It meant the world to me.

There was a con in my area on June 23rd. I wasn't planning on doing anything that day until I heard about it. There was someone in attendance who helped me put a symbolic bow on this part of my life.

I think he did a wonderful job :)

I have one last thing to say before I go. That'll be its own post, so I can put it in the public Sonic tags.

Again, the stuff I've left hanging here will get finished eventually. But for now, this is goodbye.
